I really enjoyed the character dynamics here and how the premise changed both Alex and Henry, making them bolder and more mature. Definitely read this one!

In this canon divergent story, Alex and Henry start getting to know each other in Rio, when Alex helps him recover from a panic attack. Their friendship, and later their relationship, is a delightful slow burn with funny moments, heartbreak, and steady support of each other. I thoroughly enjoyed this start to finish — the characterization of both Alex and Henry is on point and I really enjoyed how the writer changed some of the scenes from the book while keeping key callbacks. A delight.

Another Dumb Idea of Mine

I just finished watching every episode of Gravity Falls with my brother and I thought of another crossover idea.

For now, I'm gonna call it "The Next Summer Together."

The premise is that it's the summer after the events of Gravity Falls and Mabel and Dipper are back. But the town has attracted all sorts of other weirdos looking to spend their summer in Gravity Falls.

Gravity Falls but with all the other Disney Television Animation characters. Or at least, the ones that I like/remember. Like...

The Owl House: Camila decides to take the kids out for a nice, safe, normal vacation since they've all been so hard at work trying to rebuild The Boiling Isles. But when they get there, they discover that King and Eda have stowed away. (Cast: Luz, Eda, King, Camila, Willow, Gus, Vee, Hunter, and Amity.)

Star vs the Forces of Evil: (slight AU) After erasing the magic of the Butterfly Family and choosing to stay on Earth with Marco, the Diaz Family goes on vacation to Oregon. But even without magic, Star still manages to cause/find trouble. (Cast: Star, Marco, Angie and Rafael Diaz.)

Amphibia: After the events of Amphibia, Anna, Sasha and Marcy go on a camping trip together. But all roads lead to Gravity Falls. (Cast: Sasha, Anne, Marcy, Mr and Mrs. Boonchuy.)

The Ghost and Molly McGee: After winning a contest, the McGees go on vacation for the summer. Scratch seems to be drawn to something in the town, but doesn't know what. (Cast: Mr and Mrs McGee, Molly, Scratch, Libby, and Darryl.)

Luz has to prevent Dipper from catching King and trying to stream him online.

Mabel starts crushing on Marco. Dipper tries to tell her that Marco already has a girlfriend, but Mabel won't listen.

Dipper, Marco, Hunter, Gus, and Luz play a game of Dungeons, Dungeons and More Dungeons.

Grunkle Stan and Eda have an awkward reunion, and Mabel thinks she can hook them up back together.

Star and Marco go on a double date with Luz and Amity, but it turns into a competition to be the cutest couple in Gravity Falls.

In an attempt to make more money, Gus teams up with Grunkle Stan to have illusions be an attraction at the Mystery Shack.

Luz asks Dipper to help make sure that her mom's nature hike is as normal as possible.

I am a big fan of ThatCheesyBastard’s Cartoons in Danganronoa series. Despite only being on the first case, it brims with personality, love and a great understanding of the shows it uses and of Danganronpa in general. So I thought, why not throw into my insane talentswap thing? After 4 years, 2 months and I do not know how many days of writing, editing and re-editing, revamping, and checking for mistakes. I finish the one-shot that I want to finish so badly.

Summary: After years since the Earth and the magic dimenssions colapsed,the world is pure peace since there is no magic. That was years ago,now,Aurora,the daughter of Marco and Star,is determined to know how the world was before when magic existed and bring it back,because why did it disappeared?And most important,how?

Who is Aurora and what paper does she play here?:She is the daughter of Marco and Star,she was created by the fandom many years ago,you can search her up to know her physically. She is the narrator and main character in this story,she´s 15 years old in this fic.The story happens years after the last episode in season 4 of SVTFOE,after the Earth and the magic dimenssions colapsed

As I looked through the window,the sun of Mewni started to rise,it was a peaceful summer morning,another one,I love living here with my parents,but sometimes it´s boring,my mom always tells me how when she was a teenager magic existed,but that´s the only thing I know,I think there is something else about it,but I don´t know what it is,neither my mom or my dad tell me how life was when magic existed,or if they lived any adventures about it,they just tell me that they met on Earth and one day,both dimenssions collapsed,but what else? I don´t think that 2 dimenssions just casually colapse one day,but who knows,if magic was real,anything could have been possible,but I´ll never know.

"Aurora honey are you awake?Breakfast is ready"

"Yeah,I´ll go now"

That was my mom,Star,Star Butterfly,she is married with my dad,Marco Diaz,I just know that they both met at Earth when mom went there,but I don´t know the details about how they met,I don´t know the details about anything,and that pisses me off! For some reason,my parents never tell me nothing about back then,not only my parents,but everyone that lived there never tells me anything,and not even the kids my age know what happened back then,it's like if all of a sudden all the adults decided to forget what happened...and I hate it.

"Aurora?The breakfast will get cold!"

"Coming!"

I put on my house slippers and went downstairs to see my mom and dad having breakfast at the big table.

"Morning mom,morning dad"

"Good morning sweetie,did you sleep well?"

"Yeah dad"

"That's good,because we need to talk"

"About- what?"

Oh no,what happened now?I mean I do get in trouble sometimes,but it's nothing heavy,what did I do?

"Your birthday is in a few weeks,and we were thinking about preparing your quinceañera,what do you think?"

"Oh no,she will not have a quinceañera,you know what happened in mine"

"What happened in your quinceañera mom?"

Both my mom and dad looked at each other for a second and said nothing,did the party not go well? I don't see why my mom wouldn't like a birthday party,she loves parties.

"Oh,nothing honey,forget that,but,if you really want a quinceañera,you will have it,take your time to think about it,now let's have breakfast"

"Fine..."

Again,my mom did it again,everytime she mentions something and I ask her about it,she never answers,that one time I asked her why there was a castle on Mewni and who lived there,she straight up ignored me.

"What will you want for your birthday?You will be turning 15,anything special that you will like as a gift?"

"Oh uhm,I'll have to think about it"

"Just tell me when you're ready honey"

We had breakfast peacefully,and then it came to my mind,the gift I wanted,I wanted answers.I will ask my parents everything,what happened at mom's quinceañera?how did they exactly met?why can't we enter at the castle and who lived therr?Now,the problem is that I don't know if I will get them,but I could try.

"I think I know what I want for my birthday"

"What is it?"

"Answers"

"Oh Aurora if you want answers you should ask your dad,he was an A+ student in school"

"No not those kind of answers,I want to know...why and how- did the magic disappeared?"

"I- Aurora we can't tell you that,It's better for you to not know about this stuff,better for everyone,it's dangerous"

"Fine..."

Well,I already tried,now it was my turn to get the answers all by myself. The castle is surrounded by security guards 24/7,so it's hard to get in,but I'll go at night,when there's less vision.

When 10 pm hit the clock,I said goodnight to my parents and went to my room,to prepare without them knowing,I left a few pillows on the bed so that they couldn't suspect. I took my lantern and went through the window,there are a few plants hanging from the walls outside that helped me go down without getting hurt.

The moon was shining as always,I loved watching the moon,it always remembers me of grandma and mom,they always looked very happy together.I had to be careful or my parents would hear me.

"Why did auntie Eclipsa had to plant all those roses around our house?It's hard walking with all those flowers..."

Yes,my aunt Eclipsa planted roses all over our front garden,and If I ever stepped on them,mom would go crazy,she never was a plant obssesive,but with those roses,she was.

"Ouch!Why did I had to put shorts on?"

I could have chosen a better clothing for this,I was only wearing one of my dad's old hoodies,some shorts and a pair of sneakers.

I was able to exit the garden and arrive at the front doors of the castle without nobody seeing it,or I hope so... I hid in some bushes that were close to the castle,it was surrounded with security guards.

"What can I do now?They will not allow me to enter if they see me"

That's when I accidentally stepped on a stick,what could go better now?

"Who's there?"

Oh no,the guards heard me,I couldn't think of a plan. I decided to throw a stick far from them

"Over there!"

The guards went away,that's my chance! I entered running through a hole that was in a wall,I didn't had too much time,I needed to know what was here.

"Wow,this place is huge..."

It was,where was I supposed to go?

"It's just an abandoned castle,why is this guarded all over?"

I kept walking through a very big hall,when I found a room in ruines,it looked like there were paintings on the floor

"What are those?Paintings?They're huge"

They were buried in rocks and dust,they looked old,they were kinda scratched,but you could see what they showed.It took me a little bit,but I was able to rescue one of the paintings.It showed a very tall girl with a party cup on her hand,she looked very happy,she had purple diamond marks on her cheeks,next to her was a little blue creature,I couldn't tell what it was at all.

"So this is why we're not allowed to enter the castle? because there are paintings of old people I don't know?Weird"

There were many paintings,I could see one that was buried between a lot of rocks.

"What are even those? And why is the castle in ruins? Who lived here?"

I was able to remove all the rocks and rescue the painting,I removed the dust and the image was clear,the woman looked familiar.

"Those are all paintings of women that look important,but this one looks familiar..."

She had very long blue hair,pink diamond marks and blue eyes,I couldn't see her very well because of all the dust and scratches,but I was able to recognize her.

"Wait,she looks like...grandma?grandma Moon?but what is this painting of her doing here?and what are those cheekmarks that she has? she has nothing on her face now..."

I was freaking out,a painting of grandma in this weird castle in ruins,why and how?

"No,this isn't possible...what is this place?"

"The castle of the Butterfly's..."

"Who said that?!"

I heard what it sounded like a woman whispering from far away,I think I wasn't alone at all

I could hear the woman,but I only could see a shadow in the dark at the end of a hall.

"Of course,back when magic existed,before the 2 dimenssion collapsed,the Butterfly's where the royal family of Mewni,they had all the magic they wanted on their hands,but they destroyed it"

"Wha-what?Mom was part of a royal family?"

"And also your grandma,your grandpa,and your aunt,and your dad was almost part of it!"

"I- I don't understand,how do you know this,and who are you?"

"It doesn't matter,but it's true,look over there"

I saw another painting that was hidden in the dark,when I picked it up,I was speechless...

"This is...mom?-"

It was my mom,but younger,some kind of light was coming from her hand,I couldn't tell what it was,and she also had those cheekmarks.

"That is your mom,she is the one that destroyed the magic,with your grandma and your aunt"

Latine/Hispanic Plays and Musicals

As if I'm not loud enough about being Latina already, but IT'S HERITAGE MONTH, FRIENDS!!!!

Here are some plays and musicals I recommend in honor of Latine/Hispanic Heritage Month. (Please, note I'm not including things set in Spain). Most of these I have seen, read, or been in (or auditioned for). Obviously there are more than I list here, but here's a starting point! Feel free to reblog with your favorites :)

Plays

Ghosts of Bogotá by Diana Burbano--Three Colombian-American siblings return to their family home in Bogotá after the death of their abusive grandfather and must face the literal and metaphorical ghosts of their generational trauma. (stage rights, buy the play)

Welcome to Arroyo's by Kristoffer Diaz--"Alejandro Arroyo owns the newest (and cleanest) lounge in New York City’s Lower East Side. His sister, Molly, has a nasty habit of writing graffiti on the back wall of the local police precinct. Officer Derek is a recent NYC transplant with something to prove. Lelly Santiago is a socially awkward college student who may have discovered that the Arroyo siblings’ late mother was one of the founders of hip-hop music" (From the synopsis on the Dramatists Play Service website).

La Gringa by Carmen Rivera-Tirado--"Mari­a Elena Garcia goes to visit her family in Puerto Rico during the Christmas holidays and arrives with plans to connect with her homeland. Although this is her first trip to Puerto Rico, she has had an intense love for the island, and even majored in Puerto Rican Studies in college. Once Maria is in Puerto Rico, she realizes that Puerto Rico does not welcome her with open arms. The majority of the Puerto Ricans on the island consider her an American – a gringa – and Mari­a considers this a betrayal. If she’s a Puerto Rican in the United States and an American in Puerto Rico, Maria concludes that she is nobody everywhere. Her uncle, Manolo, spiritually teaches her that identity isn’t based on superficial and external definitions, but rather is an essence that she has had all along in her heart." In the Time of the Butterflies by Caridad Svich--An adaptation of the novel of the same name by Julia Álvarez. A fictionalized version of the lives of the Mirabal-Reyes sisters. "The sisters inspired resistance cells throughout the country against the dictatorial regime of Gen. Rafael Leónidas Trujillo. The ‘butterflies’, their secret code name, were brutally murdered by the regime in 1960. With immersive video and animation dispersed across the stage, this epic production paints a visual dreamscape of the interior lives of the activist sisters, the beauty and ferocity of the natural world, and the music heard on the radio of the time." Anna in the Tropics b Nilo Cruz--"In Florida in 1929 in a Cuban–American cigar factory, where cigars are still rolled by hand and “lectors” are employed to educate and entertain the workers. The arrival of a new lector is a cause for celebration, but when he begins to read aloud from Anna Karenina, he unwittingly becomes a catalyst in the lives of his avid listeners, for whom Tolstoy, the tropics, and the American dream prove a volatile combination." Musicals

In The Heights by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Quiara Algeria Hudes--Set in the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York, In the Heights follows a few days of one summer in the neighborhood. The show explores themes of family, purpose, legacy, and what it means to be Latine in the US.

Temple of the Souls by Dean Landon and Anika Paris, Anita Velez-Mitchell, and Lorca Peress. (A note, this show as far as I know has only been performed at the New York Musical Festival) Set just after the Spanish conquest of Puerto Rico, Temple of the Souls follows the story of a young Taino man and the daughter of a conquistador as they become entangled in an ill-fated romance.

On Your Feet by Alexander Dinelaris Jr, Emilio Estefan, and Gloria Estefan. This is a jukebox musical about the life of Gloria Estefan following her from her childhood to the accident that nearly cost her her life and career.

West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, and Arthur Laurents. I'm a bit loathe to include shows not by Latine creators, but it feels like there are so few musicals about us. WSS is a retelling of Romeo and Juliet. The noble houses of Verona have now been recast as warring street gangs of New York's West Side, the two star-crossed lovers now a best friend of one side's leader and the sister of the other.

Evita by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. A biographic musical about the spiritual leader of Argentina, Eva Peron. Following her life from a driven and ambitious teenager to one of the most powerful women in the Western Hemisphere. Narrated by Che (imagined as revolutionary Che Guevara in the original production, though really intended to simply be a stand-in for the everyday Argentinian), the show follows Eva's rise and subsequent illness and her impact on her people.
