As recent paparazzi photos and star David Harewood's Instagram account recently revealed, actors Jeremy Jordan and Chris Wood returned for the superhero drama's series finale as Winn Schott and Mon-El, respectively, but they aren't the only familiar faces. EW has confirmed that original cast member Mehcad Brooks will also appear as James Olsen, a.k.a. the original Guardian, in the climactic hour.
According to Melissa Benoist (who is married to Wood in real life), having all three men back made the farewell even more special.
"It would not have felt right if they hadn't come back," Supergirl's portrayer told EW in an interview this week. "I loved seeing my friends. [Laughs] I loved seeing Mehcad Brooks. I loved seeing Jeremy. I loved having Chris back, obviously. I don't think it would've been a right goodbye if the people who came back hadn't come back, so I'm very grateful that they did. It's always difficult to get that many people back in the same place, especially in the pandemic, so I'm really glad it worked out that way."
She continued: "Story-wise, it's really lovely the capacity in which all the characters return."
An original cast member, Jordan departed the show at the end of season 3 when Winn decided to follow Wood's Daxamite prince and the Legion of Superheroes back to the future. Both actors returned for the show's 100th episode, which aired last season.
Meanwhile, the series finale will mark Brooks' first appearance on Supergirl since his exit at the beginning of season 5. Having James — who left National City to run his hometown's local newspaper — back means we'll likely see him team up with his sister Kelly (Azie Tesfai), who picks up the Guardian mantle this season.
Beyond the familiar faces, Benoist is very satisfied with the final episode, which finished shooting two weeks ago. The actress thought the conclusion was "extremely moving in how we wrapped Kara's arc," she said. "I found that really powerful."
That's very much in line with what Benoist told EW about her character's ending back in March. "They pitched it to me because they wanted to know if I had any input as to where I wanted to see Kara ending up at the end of the series," she recalled. "I had one request, and it wasn't even something they were thinking about doing. And they pitched me the end, and it's really lovely. It's a great ending."

Day 23: Undress
Read on AO3 + my kofi
“I told you to wait.” Alex scolds, her voice muffled slightly behind the mask of her hazmat suit. “I told you-“
“I know, Alex.” Lena snaps as she watches agents in matching suits quickly enclose the DEO lab behind plastic. “But I’m confident it’s harmless.”
“It doesn’t matter.” Alex snaps back at her. “There’s procedure. It could-“
“-Nothing. It could nothing.” Lena cuts Alex off.
Alex’s nostrils flare as she stares Lena down.
“Regardless,” Alex drags out the word, “we need you and Kara to undress, decontaminate, and put your clothes into the bag.”
“Of course.” Lena grits through her teeth as she accepts the two suits Alex holds out. “I know the drill.”
“Could something happen?” Kara hovers behind Lena as Alex disappears.
“Nothing is going to happen to you.” Lena turns and hands a suit to Kara.
“But could something happen to you?” Kara stares at her with big blue eyes, filled with concern. It makes Lena’s heart beat a little harder.
“We need to decontaminate.” Lena changes the subject as she walks over to the corner of the lab that has an emergency shower head hanging from the ceiling and a drain.
“Decontaminate?” Kara asks as she twists the suit in her hands.
“We need to shower, Kara.” Lena says softly, turning to pry the suit from Kara’s hands before she can shred it. “While Alex runs some tests.”
“I thought you said there was nothing to worry about.” Kara’s eyes narrow.
“And I mean it, but Alex is right, there is a procedure.”
“Okay.” Kara nods, and looks up at the shower head and then around the room at all the large windows with agents walking past. “We have to shower here? There’s no curtain.”
“Don’t tell me the girl of steel is shy?” Lena teases as Kara huffs.
“Nooooo.” Kara turns away from the windows to find Lena dropping her shirt onto the ground. “Aaaaaand you’re undressing.”
Kara’s face flushes as a pair of pants lands at her feet, followed quickly by Lena’s bra. Kara stares down at the black lace with a gaping mouth before she looks desperately around the lab. Spotting some plastic bins, Kara puts them on top of the nearest table and wheels it between Lena and the passing agents, blushing as she spots flashes of pale skin in the corner of her vision.
“How chivalrous.” Lena drawls as she turns in the shower rinsing her hair as she watches Kara glare at a passing agent with pink cheeks.
Lena smirks as she wrings out her hair and steps into the suit, ignoring how it clings to her damp skin.
“You can turn around now.” Lena murmurs, her voice low. “I’m covered.”
Lena’s smirk grows as Kara turns around, coughing immediately as her eyes zero in on the plane of skin rapidly disappearing behind the zipper. Lena’s fingers linger for a moment as she watches Kara’s eyes bounce around the suit, no doubt taking in all the spots the fabric has nearly gone invisible from the water.
“But for the record. You’re allowed to look.”

Chapter 11 of my Sueprgirl fanfic “Becoming Zhed (Becoming Her)” is now up!!  Feel free to check it out!
This is my story of Kara growing up as a trans girl and figuring out life and her identity. (Alongside as many Supergirl characters that I can fit in - especially as the story goes on.)
I am a trans woman myself and it feels so cathartic and just good to be able to write this and channel my experience through these characters.
Please enjoy and if you do enjoy please feel free to comment and kudos!

So we have four out of seven Paragons and we know that not all Paragons are "activated" just because they exist (IE: Kate had to BECOME the Paragon Of Courage, she wasn't already Like That when Crisis started) I feel confident that Black Lightening is going to be a Paragon as well because that's the most reasonable way to explain why he was suddenly yoinked out of his own universe and into the crossover despite not having been one of the originals to get called by The Monitor, that leaves us with two left out of seven and I tend to believe that they, too, are people we already know
Barry or Mia will probably take slot #6 (Mia as a continuance of the Green Arrow legacy or Barry as the one who's been destined to go through this shit from the beginning, we know he's going to try to sacrifice himself "It's time for The Flash to dissappear", so it would make thematic sense if he was the Paragon Of Sacrifice or some shit like that) and I'm thinking....
What if Lena is the last one?
What if they start it off making us believe it's Lex just to screw us over like they did with Old Batman and then reveal that Lex Ain't Shit and it's really Lena who's the Paragon? Paragon Of Justice maybe? Paragon Of Peace? Something that thematically would make Lex feel all hot in his pants with "I WAS RIGHT ALL ALOOOOONG" but then nope lol you're stupid it's your sister
That'd be great
But anyway not my point
If Lena is a Paragon then this could possibly provide us with a step to closing her and Kara's relationship gap- don't get me wrong, that's almsot certainly going to follow us as the major conflict throughout the season, but it might be a step in the right direction
It could lead to Lena feeling justified once and for all in saying she isn't a villain and getting out of Lex's shadow because here she is, quite literally taking his place and being bestowed by the gods a power of GOODNESS, and it could inadvertantly lead to her and Kara starting to patch things up
I have long believed that Lena won't start getting over this until she's put in a position where she can either save Kara or let her die and her choosing to save her will rekindle the positive feelings she has for Kara- not that she'd necessarily let her die if she still felt negatively, but rather, the adrenaline from such an intense moment will reignite her feelings
Being a Paragon would bring her into the fold heavily enough to do that

Brotp meme: Lena and Sam?
who steals french fries off the other’s plate
lena never actually orders french fries
so she always steals them from sam
what a butthead
all that money and she has to steal from her less-wealthy friend
so says sam, at least, while ordering a whole other plate of fries
who jokingly moves in for the kiss when someone asks if they’re a couple
samantha, that monster, has humiliated lena on many an occasion
who has to bust or bail the other out of jail
sam, who never actually gets caught at nonsense things that could potentially get her in trouble, has absolutely bailed lena out for some nonsense or another
she gloats for months about it
hey lena remember that time you got arrested
hey sam remember that time i fired you
what
I AM STILL YOUR BOSS SAMANTHA
who gives the other advice/comfort about dating issues
look
l o o k
lena luthor is lena luthor
we don’t have friends we have minions luthor
and sam arias popped out a baby at sixteen and has been on her own ever since then
dating was not in the cards
they’re both idiots at it and give each other the w o r s t advice
which is not to say that it doesn’t always tend to work out
they just have to swot-analysis their way through shit with some spreadsheets and whatnot
who shamelessly cheats at games by reaching over to cover the other’s eyes
sam, while simultaneously shamelessly insisting that she is a mother, thankyouverymuch, and she would never set such a terrible example for her daughter
yes you would, bellows ruby from the other room
you’re grounded forever, says sam
i’ll adopt you, says lena
it’s a tradition, you see
who immediately calls dibs on the top bunk
neither of them wants the top bunk
lena thinks it’s stupid
sam is too athletic a sleeper and too likely to fall off
ruby gets the top bunk
who starts and who wins the pillow fights
sam, obviously
who says “your pants would look better on their floor” to the other’s potential crush
S A M
sam
samantha
also: ruby

Everybody knows when the girl mentioned Kate Kane at the end of the SDCC Supergirl panel and the cast agreed that she’d be a good friend to Alex immediately a huge reason is that they are both lesbians, beside the women run the world which I know is true but sounds less persuasive. Even it sounds a bit like labeling it might very well be the truth. I for one would clearly be more friendly with people of same community and recognition.
And they can’t even bring themselves to say the l word.

So far, it looks like Supergirl's sixth and final season will be the end of the line for not only Kara Zor-El but also her Super Friends, including fellow superheroes Brainiac-5/Brainy and Nia Nal/Dreamer. Although there's potential for a Supergirl spinoff on The CW, showrunners Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller have confirmed they've yet to broacht the subject with the series' parent network. Of course, there's an alternate way to keep some of the Super Friends around.
DC's Legends of Tomorrow originated as a spinoff of The CW's Arrow and The Flash, but has since taken on an exceptionally wild life of its own. At the same time, the show has remained faithful to its original mission statement by featuring a rotating gallery of misfit superheroes and eccentric antiheroes, in addition to its core group of time-traveling do-gooders. That also makes it the perfect place for Brainy and Dreamer to go, assuming the pair are still alive and well by the time Supergirl Season 6 wraps up.
As the Season 6 two-parter "Prom Night!" and "Prom Again! illustrated, Brainy and Dreamer make for a great couple of time-travelers, even when they're not actively dating. More than that, the pair fit Legends of Tomorrow's ethos: they're both outcasts with emotional baggage, much of which can be attributed to their complicated relationships with their families. Plus, between Brainy's struggle to regulate his feelings in a healthy manner without his personality inhibitors and Dreamer's ongoing attempts to fully master her powers, they stand to benefit from having a support unit like the Legends.
They also wouldn't be the first heroes to jump from one DC TV show to Legends of Tomorrow. For example, Matt Ryan's John Constantine became a series regular during Season 4, giving the unconventional magician/occult detective a second lease on life after NBC's Constantine TV show was canceled in 2015. He's since gone on to become a fixture of the series, even now that it's delving well beyond the realm of the supernatural with its alien-oriented Season 6 storyline.
