throws up my hands in mock resignation but also a hint of frustration Okay Valentino is a cool villain I guess
He's like. Genuinely unsettling. Wish the show struck a better balance with his character sometimes (like sometimes when he's onscreen I have to skip over because I feel queasy and sometimes he's so unsubtle he feels more like a prop than a guy who's going to be a Huge Deal in s2)
#why yes I have been reading some phenomenal fanfiction lately#a lesser me would be agonising over my inability to ever come close to matching the#masterfully characterised works of these talented WORD WEAVERS#but envy is a spoilt housepest and we must spend less time unleashing it upon new targets#instead let's talk about how these fics discovered its possible??#to write Val as not only a 3dimensional character but a deeply horrifying person to WITNESS#to depict how he thinks and what he wants and what he contributes to the people around him#while acknowledging that his actions are supremely messed up#also without dumbing whatever the fuck is wrong with him down to just 'can't do math and needs a sippycup'#those jokes are funny but he's also a dealmaker#he doesn't need to be studied under a microscope! he needs to be gawked at in abject horror! Oh the Potential!#he needs to tell us more about how depraved hell can be by linking us to a portion of the culture full of the dead who cannot die!#anyways. rant over. uh I think I like valentino now? in the same way I like the old man villain from hunchback of notre dame.#just. (gestures) what is this dude. ew. oh my god#my post#personal stuff#hazbin hotel#hazbin hotel valentino#is this anything#again I am entrenching on dangerous territory of 'expectations for this media I consume'#he really doesn't need to be written all shakespearean-like#too attached mayhaps#delete later#honestly worried that if the show does reveal his backstory or whatever it'll try to paint him in a sympathetic light#and then the online arguments will be a headache for a month#villain with tragic backstory ≠ sympathetic villain

hey guys! i thought i should just let you know, this monday and wednesday i will be sitting my end of year exams, so my posting might be a bit hectic or missing until... mid or end of next week (if i'm gone the week after the upcoming one, just know i got bad results on my exams and that i am now crying about it :') ). these exams are really important, so i want to give my best in order to get to the school i want to get it, and if that means less posting and girlblogging on tumblr, then so be it. for this period of time, i will mostly be taking a break from social media in general in order to give my best, but i might be answering to dms, so if anyone wants to talk (for a short period of time, admittedly), feel free to dm me! xx

My AS results were ... devastating. It feels like I'm the only one surprised by how low they dropped and it's making me question a lot of things. All this time, had I been too confident about myself? Was my best not enough or did I really not try hard enough? I'm grieving the version of myself that I could not be, and I'm grieving all my efforts that were not enough.
Honestly, it's difficult because so much of my identity has always been based around being good at academics that this feel particularly crushing. I'm not lucky and I'm not loud, so if I'm not particularly good at anything , I feel like I'll disappear.
I don't think if I can forget or make up for the pain I feel at the moment. I know my life isn't over, and that I can always make up for it by doing good in Undergrad and what not, but it stands that it means I'm not who I thought I am. I'm not smart enough to be excluded from the statistic of people who expect too much, who are too blind to see they don't work hard enough.
It's shaken my confidence and it's making me question if I can do good in A2. I'm getting a little tired of having to constantly lower my expectations, of settling for my second best, of giving up on dreams. At this point, I can't even remember what I was trying so hard for.
I'm a bit too emotional so I haven't been able to do much. I want to try my best in A2 and pull my grades to A*s even if they seem impossible. I'm wondering if I should retake but most teachers say it's a waste of time, energy and money if it's anything above a C.
Things to do today:
Physics Past Paper Practice
Figure out a way to deal with the emotional mess so I can be on top of my game from tomorrow

oh my god i am so crampy that i cannot move right now so fuck it. ag watch through is happening. will be tagging it with #ag watchthrough if anyone wants to mute that. one post with all my thoughts per episode .I did this once before but couldn't commit, but I'll try again. I need something to focus on right now, but not something I need to THINK about and this feels like a compromise. The goal will be one episode a day, counting queueing posts. Will I regret this a third of the way through season one? probably but so it goes.
#long tags. accidental methodology infodump#my therapist wants me to schedule time to relax so i can do this and say i set aside at least twenty minutes a day#genuinely need to get the cramps sorted out before i stop online classes though#i cannot function out in society like this#doctors were like 'yeah sounds like endo. no we won't check.'#like okay :) thanks :))) 👍#would love to see more studies and info on the link between endo and eds#bc there are heavy anecdotal links#it seems like a really common comorbidity#i found one study that showed a link but it was from 1995 and was of 41 women#and it wouldn't let me in to actually read over the study and methods. it was author info and the abstract only#so idk how much was self reporting or what#and it looked like a voluntary selection which skews stuff BUT I COULDN'T GET IN TO LOOK#bc like ok here's the thing#Do I think there is a link given how heavily people report overlap and given the width of eds comorbidities? yes#but in a study where people volunteered for it#if they saw 'eds/gynecological disorder study applicants open'#then people who experience eds AND gynecological disorders will likely be the ones who apply for it#so any link might be misrepresented as having a larger correlation than it actually does#GOD I would love to get into this kinda stuff for a career if i could only do math#and like it gave numbers but no baseline#it said that the correlation was certain percentages but did not give percentages to compare it to for the general population in the abstra#and numbers like that are important due to their context and can be meaningless or innacurate without it#like. COMPLETELY RANDOM AND INNACURATE example. numbers are bullshitted#you can say that people should avoid traveling in cars because five percent of car crashes are fatal#that sounds worrying doesn't it? you can accept the 'thesis' as fact based on that statistic. it sounds reasonable.#and 70 percent result in up to severe injury#but you need the context to look at how many people use cars every single day and don't get in crashes#you need that larger context to it because cars ARE safe actually#and also think. what does the statistic count as 'injury'?

a (very rare) math/science post.
Tumblr media
hey! so i'm a british student but you'll see me putting things in brackets to help clarify things for my non british readers. so i did my GCSEs (i think the american equivalent is SATs?) back in may and june and one thing about me during my last year of school is i was in some deep shit. so i didn't really do that well. I got a bunch of 6s (B+s) and7 (A) in eng lit. i found i was couple marks off of a grade 7 (A ) in almost all my subjects including math and science. now i can deal with a B in art and a B in sociology because I'm doing them for A levels ( google tells me the americn equivalent is AP examinations) so doing well in them means that my gcse grade will be dismissed since i did better at A level today i asked my math teacher if there was any way i could resit and he cut me the following deal: if i resat my exams in either november or june of next year and got a better grade then he'd cover the fees and same goes for science. now, i just started sixth form/college so i'd have to learn in my own time somehow. i don't have anyone to teach me and i can't afford tutoring but i was offered to sit in the back of lessons during my free period every tuesday and that afterschool i can ask whatever available teacher for help for anything i really really can't teach myself should i go for it? please interact and tell me what you think.
