ੈ♡˳·˖✶ — TEEN DAD! GOJO SATORU x FEM READER
The Zenins want Megumi. Gojo isn’t having it.
wc — 1.7k
tags — one suggestive line after “those girls are better off without you” if you want to avoid it, set after 棠, part of teen dad gojoverse, in which you and Gojo raise Megumi together
Tumblr media
Gojo’s been in the doghouse since last night. Not literally, obviously - though he might have preferred it if you were there with him, at least. He’d take anything over being kicked out of your shared bedroom and being forced to sleep on the couch.
If you had it your way, you’d prolong his punishment, but you can’t. Not when, as he told you last night, the Zenins are coming today to wrest Megumi from your custody.
Fat chance.
You’d die before you let that happen.
Gojo’s not too keen on either of those outcomes. For the first time in his life, he’s taking the pacifist’s route and talking it out, though you’re sure his version of talking involves more insults than most people’s.
He thought about simply having it out with the elders, but it’s not worth it. Not when he has a plan for the future of Jujutsu Society. Not when he has you, Megumi, and Tsumiki. He’s playing the long game. He can’t afford to screw it up now.
Being a family man really has ruined him.
Zenin Keiko is a tall woman with a severe black bob and the characteristic Zenin look of perpetual contempt. She’s Naoya’s cousin, alright.
“Twice-removed,” Gojo whispers to you. “Or illegitimate. Something like that, I can’t remember.”
“Shut up,” you whisper back out of the corner of your mouth. “She’s going to hear you.”
Welcoming a Zenin into your home feels like blasphemy, though you suppose Gojo is the closest thing Jujutsu society has to a god.
Gojo’s unimpressed by her, mostly because he feels like the Zenins are mocking him. It’s not like anyone can take him on, but to send someone who has no battle capabilities feels like an insult.
Keiko is an auxiliary manager with no cursed technique to speak of besides a weak barrier. It’s a wonder she has the nerve to speak to Gojo. The Zenins truly did not care about her if they sent her as the proxy to undermine your roles as the Fushiguro children’s guardians. In fact, you suspect that’s the precise reason she was chosen - because she’s expendable.
Keiko, to her credit, shows no sign of fear.
“I’d like to meet the children, Mr. Gojo. It’ll give me a good grasp of what the situation is.”
“Hell no,” Gojo outright laughs in her face. “I’m not letting a Zenin near my brats. Your-“
“Gojo.” You squeeze his knee. Cooperate.
“I’ll go get them,” he says begrudgingly.
The two of you sandwich the children between you on the couch. Tsumiki sits on Gojo’s left. Megumi sits on your right. That way, the two that are most likely to fight are separated. It’s a strategized united front.
“Megumi, do you like your guardians? Do you like staying here?”
Megumi looks at you. You smile at him encouragingly - and there Keiko goes, scribbling away in her notebook. She’s probably saying something about how Megumi is so scared of you he won’t answer the question unless you give him permission.
“Are you sure? Forgive me, but Gojo seems a little…immature for a parent.”
A direct attack right out of the gates. Gojo objects to this very accurate assessment of his character.
“He’s fine, I guess,” Megumi says. There’s more scribbling. You’re starting to hate the sound of pen on paper. “I like-“
He looks at you. There’s a tiny blush on his cheeks, just the faintest hint of red. More quietly, he says, “It’s fine, cause she takes care of us.”
Gojo stares at him, slack-jawed. “Are you kidding me? You are one ungrateful brat. Who found you? Who took you in?”
Tsumiki chimes in, “We like Gojo a lot too! He’s fun.”
Keiko ignores her completely, focusing on Megumi instead. Your distaste for her grows.
“Would you say that Gojo has an active role in taking care of you?”
“Why aren’t you asking Tsumiki anything?” Megumi interrupts. “Her opinion’s important too.”
Keiko gives him a strained smile. Gojo reaches behind Tsumiki on the couch to ruffle Megumi’s hair. He only tolerates this for five seconds before he shakes his head to get him off.
“He loves me,” Gojo says.
“I have Stockholm syndrome,” Megumi says. ‘Help,’ he mouthes.
“He’s joking,” Tsumiki says nervously.
You’ve given up on making them behave. It’s just not happening.
Keiko seems to have given up too. Rather than continue prodding Megumi, she turns to Gojo.
“How often are you home?”
“Basically every day,” Gojo lies. He does try his best, but it’s more like every other day. Such is the fate of the strongest sorcerer.
“Don’t want my baby all alone, poor little thing.”
He catches your look and cackles. “No, the other one. My other baby,” and the kiss he presses to your knuckles is so tender it melts your heart.
Keiko makes an uncomfortable expression. “Please try to stay focused, Mr. Gojo.”
Megumi gags loudly. Tsumiki pinches his arm to get him to shut up and he yelps. Keiko narrows her eyes and makes another note.
“I understand how Gojo might take responsibility for the children,” Keiko says, directing her attention to you, “but how did you come into the picture. Are you a girlfriend-“
“Wife,” Gojo interjects.
Keiko’s entire body does an approximation of what it would look if a human had a screenshot function.
“Aren’t you children?”
You don’t like Keiko at all, but you respect the balls it takes to talk to Gojo like that. All the Zenins seem to have that death wish of wanting to mouth off to the strongest. Maybe it’s a genetic thing.
Gojo shrugs. “If I’m old enough for the missions you send me on, I’m old enough to take care of kids, right? How hard can it be?”
You pinch his thigh. “Gojo.”
“What? It is easy. You just give them a bunch of lollipops and call it a day.”
Keiko’s writing is now background noise to you. “Are you still doing that? I told you-“
“It’s fine! All kids need sugar to grow. I had a sweet tooth when I was their age.”
“And that’s probably the reason why you still have one now! Except it’s rotting your teeth-“
“It’s not-“
“It is!”
“Don’t be so uptight!”
“How does it look if I’m always saying no to him and you’re always saying yes? It isn’t fair, Satoru. Parenting has to be a team effort.”
“What are you talking about?”
“I’m talking about you playing good cop, bad cop with him!”
“Have you gone insane? We went over this! He likes you more than me! There is no good cop, bad cop when he just takes your side every single time.”
“Excuse me,” Keiko says. She’s somehow managed to look a complex combination of perplexed, annoyed, and satisfied. “Please take care of your lovers’ tiffs outside of this interview. I will say that this doesn’t seem like an environment particularly conducive to raising children, however.”
“What do you know?” Gojo says rudely. “The only reason you’re even doing this interview is because I’m letting you.”
Normally, you would tell him off, but in front of the Zenins? You’re a united front. You place a hand on his forearm and look down your nose at the woman in front of you as best as you can when she’s taller than most people you meet.
“I think you’ve overstayed your welcome,” you say.
“You agreed to an interview,” she says.
“An interview, not an inquisition.”
“You can’t refuse a request from the elders without consequences,” she says, as patiently as she would speak to a child. It’s condescending.
“Are you threatening my wife?”
When you look to your side, Gojo’s face is shadowed. His eyes are storm dark and frightening. Keiko can’t hide her visceral reaction.
She forgets her coat on her way out, she’s in such a hurry to leave. Gojo takes it and disappears.
While he’s away, you let Megumi and Tsumiki return to their rooms. They’re muttering amongst themselves, but you don’t pry. Children need their space, too. You’ll talk to them about it later.
He’s back within a minute.
“What did you do with it?” You’re bracing yourself for the answer.
“I just sent a message,” he says, as cheerily as if nothing had happened. “Think we passed that?”
“Gojo, I think that’s the first test you’ve ever failed. Did you see the way she was writing during the last twenty minutes? And Megumi and Tsumiki! Every time they said something, she made a face!”
Gojo shrugs, still so certain of his place in the hierarchy. One day, the elders will get tired of him throwing his weight around like Jujutsu’s one and only tyrant, but not someday soon if they want to keep their heads.
“It’s fine,” he says. “I’m not going to make Megumi and Tsumiki act like repressed little puppet children just so that they can find some way to snipe them out from under us anyways. Who knows, maybe we’ll teach the Zenins a thing or two about healthy child raising. I hear they have two girls now. One of them has no cursed energy. Should we kidnap some more children?”
“Like you know anything about healthy parenting,” you snark. “Those girls are better off without you.”
“Does being mean to me get you off or something?”
“Do you want to find out?”
“I would love to,” he purrs, sliding a hand under your shirt just so slightly so his nails prick at your lower stomach. You grab his wrist.
“Sorry,” you say, your stomach churning at the joke gone wrong. “I can’t.”
He stops immediately. “What’s wrong?”
“I just- They want Megumi badly enough to go to the higher ups. I know what they do to their children. I can’t let him go there, Satoru. I can’t.”
“I won’t let that happen.”
“I can’t stop thinking about those girls.”
“Come here,” he says.
You lean closer to him. He lifts his arm so easily, without thinking. When you slide under it, you fit into him perfectly.
Now that you’re safely tucked under his arm, you feel sheltered from anything that could happen.  “I don’t want to give the kids to the Zenins. They’re monsters. And they would make monsters out of them.”
“That’s only if they take them away,” Gojo says, his smile fanged and vicious.
“And if they do?”
“I hope they try.”
You trust him.
You know he’ll keep his word. If Gojo says Megumi and Tsumiki won’t be going to the Zenins as long as he’s alive, then they won’t be going at all.

Can you do 58 with Megumi but make it something like enemies to lovers 😊 love your writing so so much
58: Moving Around While Kissing, Stumbling Over Things, Pushing Each Other Back Against The Wall/On The Bed
**aged up characters!!** ___
megumi didn't think he was capable of despising someone this much. you got under his skin and you knew it. you'd settle in there, nestling- twisting- clawing- seemingly making yourself at home. and it didn't matter if he ignored you or if he'd snap at you with quick, bitter insults, you were an irremovable thorn in his side.
when he first met you, megumi was indifferent. you were a decent enough sorcerer that you handled your own so he wasn't thrown into training with you like gojo had him do with yuuji, and honestly, you were closer with nobara anyways, so you spent most of your time hanigng out with her.
but god, if megumi could take back that first mission he'd been sent on with you, he would. he'd get on his knees and beg that man-child of a teacher not to send him with you.
because as it turns out, he hated being assigned on exorcisms with you. you had a powerful cursed technique and you were quite confident in using it. too confident.
you were reckless.
it seemed no matter the threat you were throwing yourself on the front line, your weapon of choice imbued with the blue energy or your cursed energy, your excitement and blood lust evident. you took almost a twisted joy in exorcizing curses. megumi thinks this is the reason you were always running into the threat of a curse head first, refusing to strategize with him, and refusing to look at the big picture.
this meant that more often than not, you found yourself in the infirmary after your assignments. you always had scrapes and bruises, occasionally broken bones or concussions, too. he couldn't believe that you were so negligent, time and time again. it was like you didn't even care about getting hurt, it was like you almost enjoyed it.
the last time megumi had been partnered up for an assignment, he'd had to carry your unconscious body to shoko himself. after brazenly climbing a rather large second-grade curse, hooking your blades into it's scaly back as if you were rock climbing, you'd exorcized it with a strong swing to it's neck, sending it's head plummeting to the ground- just a few feet in front of megumi, mind you, so he'd been covered in blood so putrid he'd almost thrown up.
in your victorious pride you'd failed to realize that decapitating the beast at your height was a foolish choice, as now you were falling to the ground with a crack! that had a chill going down megumi's spine with fright. when you didn't get up right away, he'd had the manager of this assignment on the phone before he even reached you.
it makes his blood boil just thinking about it now. you'd sprained your wrist from awkwardly trying to brace yourself too late, and you'd hit your head against the pavement, hard. when megumi had lifted you, the blood had already made your hair wet and sticky, and it pooled into his hand at a speed that megumi was sure meant death was imminent. honestly he couldn't believe you'd gotten to shoko in time.
you'd been out for six days. and when you awoke, he'd screamed your ear off about how ridiculous your actions were, how if he could help it he'd never partner with you again. you were conscious for it, still fighting off a splitting headache, but you'd heard every word and you knew he meant it. you'd barely said anything, just let him rant and pace around your cot until he got it all out of his system. however, before he left, you tiredly called him a coward before you drifted back to sleep.
despite your mutual distaste in working together, you'd only been put on a small break from being partnered up- and that was mostly due to your healing period. the last month and a half of megumi working alone, or with yuuji and nobara, was only a vacation of not working with you because gojo made sure to throw a few easier assignments your way while your arm healed and the stitches at the bottom of your skull and into the nape of your neck had begun to properly scar.
once you'd regained full mobility and strength, it was only a matter of time before you were thrown into an assignment with megumi again.
because the truth of the matter, was that you worked perfectly together.
even with you swinging your weapons with abandon, megumi seemed to be able to read your every move before you made it. he chalked that up to simply knowing how to match his partner's fighting style, but gojo always insisted the pair of you shared a synergy like no other.
megumi thinks gojo just liked throwing fancy business words around to confuse people, and maybe that worked with the others, but he always rolled his eyes at that word.
because to him anyone could have synergy if they fought alongside each other for long enough- at least this is what megumi convinced himself of.
he'd never really thought twice about how with one look, you were able to switch off fighting styles- sometimes this even meant throwing your weapons towards one another- and you would take defense while he took offense- etc. he'd never really thought about how even though it felt like he had to keep an eye on you, your exorcism-driven rage meant you were always ready for an attack, and that made you more than capable of watching his back too.
and he especially hadn't noticed how his shikigami seemed to have his same ability of predicting your next move, too.
even if he conjured nue for a surprise attack from the sky, if you happened to be in trouble, the owl-like shikigami was swooping to your aid. if your weapon was knocked out of your grasp, his divine dog was leaping in to cover you with snapping fangs. if he summoned the toads, one always seemed to flutter up to your shoulder to watch your back. and god forbid he went for rabbit escape- damn things loved to swarm you with fluff and nuzzles.
and tonight's assignment was no different. except that you've been sent overseas. and except that maybe that it's the first time he does notice his shikigami's parter
his divine dog is darting out of his sight suddenly, and megumi notices instantly this time, seeing as he'd just commanded it to go after this curse's throat, and instead it's running in your direction.
bewildered, megumi whirls around, watching as it barks and howls as it runs to you.
you, who's laying on the ground.
when did that happen? fuck! what happened? fuck! were you conscious? fuck! had you been there long? fuck!
his mind is operating at a million thoughts in a minute, before he snaps into reality and strategizes what the plan would be now that you're out of the equation and this grade one curse is still trying to tear him in half.
and while he lunges towards it with his blade aimed for the throat, he find he can't help but keep you in his peripheral vision.
his divine dog is standing over you protectively, snout nudging at your shoulder, but you don't move. your arm falls lifelessly to the ground.
as he approaches the curse he sees there already is a deep gash on it's throat, certainly an effort made by you before you'd been struck down. and despite the heavy rage and concern you'd shoved onto his shoulders as soon as he'd seen you rlimp body on the ground- again- megumi's face morphs into a twisted grin.
because you'd just made this all the easier.
it only takes on swing for him to slice through the rest of the way, his blade tearing through muscle and tissue, taking it's head clean off. a signature move of yours, that for a moment, megumi understood why you enjoyed it so much. because it felt fucking amazing.
the moment he relishes in is short lived, and once the curse is taken care of he's racing over to you and his shikigami.
there's no pool of blood this time, is the first thing he notes, which is a little bit of a relief, he supposes.
what does concern him is the fact that his shikigami is whimpering, nose pushing against the back of your head, before moving to lay by your side, laying it's head on the ground as it watches you carefully, protectively.
megumi doesn't know where this action comes from. while his shikigami did hold a certain for him, as their conjurer, but he'd never seen this.
"it's alright, don't worry," he mumbles setting his hand in the space between the dog's ears. before sending it back to it's domain.
he kneels quickly in front of you, carefully grabbing you by your shoulders to move you onto your back and check for your injuries. to his surprise, you let out a groan and are able to twist yourself just enough to flip off of you stomach.
"what happened?" megumi's quick to question you once he realizes you're at least a little conscious.
"i'm fine" you say, but your face is contorted into a wince and there's a groan erupting from your chest.
"can you even sit up?" megumi scowls at you, but you don't see. you're hissing and arching your back to keep it off the ground, and megumi realizes he's going to have to get you out of here- again.
he's not afraid to tell you the whole way back to the hotel you're staying at too. it's a bit of a hassle to half-carry you into the building without alerting staff or other patrons, but still, he's muttering reckless and idiot and stupid like a mantra.
when you get to the conjoined rooms you protest, but megumi's still muttering as he drags you into his side of the room.
"we gotta get you patched up. unless you want to bleed out in your sleep?"
"i can do it myself" you shove him off you, making him scoff as he grabs the medical kit out of his bag.
"knew i would need this," he's still muttering, pointing for you to sit on the end of the bed. "just cause of you of course"
"i told you i can do it myself" you snap back at him, and megumi's not sure why this is the last straw for him but he's tearing open a gauze patch with more furosity than he'd shown exorcizing the curse earlier.
"you clearly fucking can't!" he also doesn't mean to yell, but he get's wrapped up in his irritation and he gets carried away rather quickly. "i mean- you were barely out there for ten minutes, i look over, and you very well could have been dead!"
"you'd like that wouldn't you?" you grumble unde your breath, snatching the guaze pad out of his hand and rolling your shirt up to inspect the slash at your hip. lucky for you, it wasn't deep, but it was a long swipe of claws, so it was a nasty looking thing.
"is that what you think?" megumi snaps, and he's reaching out to get the bandage back out of your hand. "you think i want my partner dead?"
"you sure like to complain about everything i do, so, yeah, megumi, you've made it abundantly clear that you'd have a easier time if i wasn't there!"
megumi huffs at the accusation, beyond pissed with you now. were you really so dense to think such a thing?
and yet while he bandages up your would, his every touch is gentle, and he even mumbles an apology when you hiss at just the wrong amount of pressure in the wrong spot.
"you can't seriously be upset with me," he scoffs. "just cause i'm sick of this always happening"
"what are you talking about?" you furrow your brows as you push your shirt back over the bandage, your hands balling into fists as you stand from the bed.
"i'm talking about you always getting yourself hurt!"
megumi's eyes are wide and his brows are furrowed as he gives you that look. the one that tells you he thinks you're an idiot. something he's good at doing, even without words.
"i swear, i don't know why they pair me up with you. i don't know what gojo sees that i'm missing, but clearly he's as delusional as ever. you shouldn't even be on the field!"
that had your patience snapping (and your heart breaking)
"i shouldn't be on the field?" you scoff back at him, crossing your arms over your chest defensively. "do you even like protecting people?"
"what the hell does that have to do with anyting? of course i do!"
"well it's hard to tell! you're so goddamn stoic all the time, sometimes i can't tell the difference between you and- and-"
"and what?"
you bite your tongue, trying not to say something you can't take back, but megumi's glowering at you and you're so mad just looking at his stupid face that you let it out.
"and the curse" your words are low, but they're just as sharp as when you were yelling back at him.
megumi scoffs. he rolls his eyes.
you don't think he's ever taken you seriously.
"you're so ridiculous. i swear to god- i've dealt with your recklessness for the last time. i won't be pairing up with you for another assignment again. i'm done"
"oh please," you let out a bitter laugh, a snicker that hits his ears and buries deep into his skin. nestling, twisting, clawing. "as if i'd ever choose to partner with you!" you're yelling again, and it makes your head hurt, but you don't care. because he hurt you first. and you're not retreating to your own room before returning the favor. "i only agree to it because gojo knows and i know that it's worth it. even if i have to put up with all your snide comments and- and just rude behavior! you're a child, you know that?"
"i'm the child!?" he's darting in front of you now, before you have the chance to make a break for the door. you have half the mind to push him, to shove him hard and storm out of the room.
hell, if you called ijichi now, you might even have him book your the first flight back to tokyo.
but you stand in place and scowl at him, because you can't have him thinking you're running away from him.
"you run into every assignment without looking both ways!" megumi throws his arms out, and you can see his hands are shaking. "you get yourself injured, every, single, time, (y/n), and it's exhausting"
"exhausting?" you repeat with a scoff.
"yeah," megumi narrows his eyes at you. "exhausting"
"oh, i'm sorry," your lips curl into a gruesome smile, a threatening snarl, held by an irritation only he could bring out of you. "i didn't realize that my coma was so hard on you! were you tired megumi? hm? that was exhausting for you?"
he's fuming. you can see his teeth gritting together, his nostrils are flaring, and you've never seen so much emotion in his eyes- much less this much disgust. you've thoroughly pissed him off, and you know you should be giving him faux apologies and pleasantries because he's your equal, your ally, your partner, but you can't help but feel pride blossom in your chest, knowing you've bothered him this much.
"yeah, it was!" he yells back in your face. "can't you wrap your fragile mind around the idea that maybe it was hard on me to think you'd died!?"
you blink, your expression falling from it's sick pride, replaced quickly by confusion.
"when you're my partner, and i'm supposed to make sure you're alright, it's infuriating to turn around and not know if you're even fucking breathing!"
megumi's still yelling, but your ears are no longer pounding with your own rage boiling in your blood. his words echo clearly in your mind now, and you stare at him in bewilderment as he continues to rant.
"did you even ever fucking think about how that makes me feel?" he asks, but he doesn't give you the time to answer. "you were knocked out for a week, (y/n). if i hadn't gotten you back when i- if shoko hadn't gotten to the infirmary in time-"
he begins to shake his head, a humorless laugh falling from his lips as he has to look away from you. you were making him too angry. and worried. the emotions brewed inside of him and it made him sick to his stomach. you made him sick to his stomach.
no, you made him worry sick over you.
and you could see that now. watching him unravel in front of you, it was like the final piece of the why is megumi upset with me all the time puzzle. he cared about you. in his own way, and he had a weird way of showing it, but he cared about you.
and you were a reckless, proud piece of shit that didn't even care about yourself.
"i-" you start, but you're still not given a chance to speak.
"i don't even want to hear whatever stupid excuse you have for acting like that," he turns back to you before you even get a full syllable out. "i mean it, (y/n), i'm done. i can't take it anymore. i- i really thought i let it happen again, you know that?"
you blink at him, your eyes round and focused as you watch his look of anger fall to something else, something sadder. is this what his concern really looked like?
this is why you had been woken up by his divine dog pawing at your arm. it wasn't the shikigami breaking megumi's orders, it was worried about you, because megumi was worried about you.
your heart stutters in your chest at the sudden realization. it's all fitting together in your mind and you find that it makes you feel...
like an idiot.
"if you- if you'd actually died..." megumi trails off, hanging his head back to stare at the ceiling bitterly, as if the old worn paint would give him the strength to walk away from you.
you seize his moment of silence, and you move quickly.
you're darting towards him, your hands grabbing his collar, drawing his attention back to you in a quick, almost horrified manner. his eyes are wide and his brows almost rise into his hairline.
you hesitate, as does he, your eyes moving quickly between one another's, each trying to read the other person's silent reaction, both too afraid to actually say something in that brief moment where you're standing so close he can see the slight scar poking around the curve of your neck. megumi's eyes stay on that spot for a long moment, before he's looking back at you.
and then you're pressing closer, leaning onto the tips of your toes and holding onto his collar so tight it actually yanks him down towards you. he doesn't find his breath to protest before you're kissing him.
he blinks, his eyes wide and still staring at you, and you're kissing him.
a few seconds delayed, his hands fly to grab you by the jaw. but he doesn't pry you off of him. his eyes fall shut and he's holding your face firmly in place so that he can properly slant his lips over yours.
you try to take a breath in between kisses but he gives you no time to do so, making a whimper suffocate and be swallowed down your throat. you inhale sharply through your nose instead.
your hands release the collar of his uniform only for you to throw your arms around his neck, latching on snugly, and pulling him down, down, down, until you're standing flat on your feet and he's towering over you in an attempt to keep your mouths sealed.
you have to admit, you didn't expect so much eagerness, but you can't complain as his lips dominate over yours, melting you down to putty in his hands.
"i'm sorry," you mumble into his mouth, not bothering to break away, knowing he won't let you. "i'll be more careful next time"
you're huffing for air, and megumi does you the favor of pulling away, just a little bit, just enough that you can catch your breath, and he can look at you.
he wasn't expecting you to kiss him, but he certainly wasn't expecting you to apologize to him.
your eyes meet his, full of an emotion he's never seen before. concern? is this what your concern looked like?
"it's alright," he finds himself forgiving you instantly, calloused thumb tracing along the edge of your jaw, while he looks at you like you're something new he'd just discovered.
and maybe to a certain degree, you are, because he's never seen this side of you before. the self awareness you showed now struck deep, and he believed you when you spoke.
"i'm sorry too" he mumbles, brows furrowing as the cruel words he'd said to you replay in his head now, leaving a sour taste in his mouth.
you don't say anything, you just reach up on your toes again so that you can keep kissing him, and he seems to understand that you forgive him, too.
and you pull him then, much like you'd wanted to earlier but now you have a new fervor of intention as your feet move backwards and you're tugging him along to blindly follow. neither of you deem it necessary to break apart as he gets the idea and tries to guide you in the right direction.
the back of your heel hits the dresser and you groan in dull pain and surprise, and still, you don't bother to part your lips from megumi's for even a second. in fact, you card your hands through his hair and move even faster.
you're kicking off your shoes in the process, and megumi trips over them as he tries to take his off in the same fashion, although it's difficult without his hands and without looking, he puts up with the task anyways, his mouth straying from yours as his hand pushes your chin up so he could trail kisses down your jaw and then down your neck.
you hum, your hands fumbling as they try to hastily unbutton his jacket. you're still trying to make your way further into the room but you don't exactly have your bearings, but just as you have his jacket open your legs are hitting the back of the mattress.
megumi practically drops you onto it before shoving the material off his arms and following you quickly. his arms brace himself at either side of your head, as he doesn't want to put an ounce of his bodyweight on you, seeing as you were injured after all.
"you'll still be my partner?" you mumble before he can kiss you again.
"we'll talk about it in the morning" he speaks through a heavy breath, about to lean in to capture your lips again, but you put a hand to his chest.
"you know," you raise an eyebrow at him as he looks confused as to why you stopped him. "if you're still my partner, there will be many more hotel rooms in the future"
he blinks, your words processing slowly, and then he's smiling, and letting out a small chuckle.
"you drive a hard bargain, (y/l/n)"
you grin, finally pulling him down towards you.
"i know what i want, fushiguro" ___
a/n: got carried away again no one's surprised ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Jupiter in Scorpio can bring a strong combination of deep transformation and expansive vitality. Scorpio is linked to intensity, depth, and metamorphosis, whereas Jupiter is connected to development, expansion, and opportunity. When these energies align, it may signify a time of deep introspection and outward development.
Scorpio's transforming power is amplified when Jupiter conjuncts Pluto. This feature may indicate a period of rapid personal development during which you experience profound changes in your psychological, emotional, or spiritual states. You may be drawn to explore the depths of your mind in order to reveal desires, fears, and hidden realities.
Global or societal changes may also be indicated by Jupiter conjunct Pluto on a larger scale, especially in areas pertaining to wealth, power, and control. There might be an emphasis on exposing corruption, overthrowing repressive structures, or delving into sensitive subjects.
All things considered, Jupiter in Scorpio—especially when it is conjunct Pluto—invites you to welcome the process of rebirth and metamorphosis. It inspires you to face your innermost wants and concerns and to use change as a tool for both individual and group progress. Now is the moment to bravely, honestly, and with a willingness to delve far into the unknown, examine life's mysteries.

So happy you're back after all this time! I have a question, do you happen to know how people fought in ancient rome? Particularly gladiators and soldiers? Sorry if this isn't the blog for this question tho!
I think we've covered both of these questions independently over the years.
Gladiators were a performance sport. It was more about glorifying the Roman Empire and its victories, than a conventional fight. As a result, most Gladiators were armed with specific variant, “loadouts,” designed to cosplay as various enemies that The Empire had conquered, and they only fought against specific countering variants. Specifically, the variants would be matched in such a way that it would be difficult for either combatant to have a decisive advantage over the other, with an eye towards creating situations that would result in a lot of visible injuries, without serious harm to either participant.
In case it needs to be said, gladiators were a significant financial investment, and they weren't casually killed in the arena. The point was for visible injuries, and a bloody spectacle, not a slaughter. Sometimes someone would die, but having them die on the field wasn't the intention, and they generated a lot of money, and on the rare cases when they were killed, it was meant to be a climactic moment, not someone taking a blade to the gut and collapsing mid-fight.
Obviously, I'm barely scratching the surface here, because it gets a lot deeper, but the simple answer is that in the vast majority of cases, gladiators were armed with weapons that were designed to make seriously harming their foe difficult to impossible. Also, the gladiators were something that evolved and became more complicated over time. When they first started in the Republic, it was a much more stripped down structure with prisoners of war being given a sword and shield and forced to face off against one another.
As for the Roman Legions. I'm not sure I've ever seen a comprehensive description of their training techniques. The Testudo, (or Tortoise) is one of the more famous examples of their specific combat style. Legionaries would create a shield wall, and the soldiers behind the front line would raise their shields to cover the formation against attacks from above (usually arrow fire, or thrown spears.) While being able to strike with javelins. In practice, the formation had issues, including being vulnerable to siege fire, and mounted archers were able to easily flank the formation. It's a neat story, but the formation had serious limitations.
One thing we haven't talked about before (I think) was the Roman's use of biological warfare. During sieges, they would load (locally sourced, I assume) corpses onto catapults, and then launch them into the besieged city.
Beyond, the major thing about the Legions was the extremely disciplined and orderly combat formations, with a lot of attention paid to managing battlefield movement. It wasn't so much about exceptional individual performance, so much as their ability to operate as a unit. This isn't a particularly mind blowing concept today, but in an era when professional soldiers were the exception, or limited to the elite forces, it had slightly more impact.
Regarding the details of their training, I've never seen any of that come up. Now, granted, I've really tried to research that degree of Roman history. So, if you're asking, “how, exactly, did they swing the gladius?” I don't know, and I don't remember ever seeing anyone credibly claim they had that insight. As far as I know, the only surviving Roman training manual was De Re Militari, (there's around 200 surviving Latin copies) which is far more concerned with overall strategic planning and command. If you're trying to write Roman era military fiction, it's probably worth reading. So, I'm not sure this is exactly what you were looking for, but I do hope it helps.

One of the guys
pairing: OT7? alphas X chubby wingwoman HYBE employee Y/N (omega in hiding)
NEW MINISERIES (almost resembles a series of just dribbles)
Summary: She's the man. No literally. She totally is. At least in the perception of everyone at HYBE. She hangs out with the guys like a pro , strategizes with them to get them any girl of their choice, gets rid of their one night stands with ease, convinces their FWBs to leave them alone, provides constructive criticism about their sexual techniques, and even counsels them when they are having mental breakdowns. In essence, she makes MEN out of boys. Is that her job description? Not exactly. But she does it anyway. Because Y/N just happens to be one of the guys.
Warning: cursing, crude language, eventual smut
PART 1
Tumblr media
"Y/N, does this outfit look good for the date tonight?!!!", Taehyung paced around in a panicked fashion, worried about being late for his date.
Y/N turned around slowly in her revolving chair nursing a freshly baked croissant in her hand, quizzical expression on her face, right eyebrow propped up in a strong arch. She calmly advised, "Lose the ugly plaid shirt and replace it with a plain black turtle neck. Get rid of that thirsty look on your face and wipe the sweat on the nape of your neck. You don't want to look like you just ran a marathon. As much as old spice commercials try to convince guys that women like sweaty men, we don't like guys looking like drowning rats on first dates".
Taehyung opened his mouth open in shock and disbelief at her cutting words. Y/N questioned nonchalantly as she propped her sweat pant clad right leg on the coffee table, munching on her crispy treat, " Have I ever mislead you boi? Till now, have you not bagged a chick under my guidance"? Taehyung winced, because he very well knew that not only him, but all the other members never lost when Y/N advised them with regards to the workings of women. Especially in regards to the mindset of omegas.
They were all alphas and any girl, or omega for that matter that they chose to pursue, they got. Mainly because of Y/N. You could call her a lifestyle manager or a counselor. The words were not apt enough to describe her position completely. She was all encompassing in her role. Nobody would be able to replace her.
Y/N was originally one of their junior managers, till they slowly realized that she was worth more than just that job role. Taehyung remembered the day they had met her. When Jungkook had been bemoaning his lack of p***y at the time, Y/n had remained in her usual uniform of black sweatpants and baggy black shirt with a smirking expression on her quiet face. Side note: None of them knew how y/N even looked like under those baggy clothes, she never changed her clothes, ever. Under any circumstances.
She had taken one look at Jungkook's pitiful, pathetic little face propped up like Orphan Annie on a blue loveseat, and remarked in her usual quietly cutting manner, "You need to wash that BO off your armpits boy. Brush your teeth. Use some salicylic acid on that face. And learn what weights are. Girls don't like oily spaghetti. We like it in our mouth when we eat it, but we don't like f**king it". They had all been startled at the time.
But she had resolutely continued her tirade, "You can take the advice or leave it. But I guarantee that if you fix what I said, you will have girls falling all over themselves for you, like flies over lasagna". After her curt statement, she walked away, a baggy legend , without even a glance backwards.
Over the years, since their debut, she remained in the background, mostly staying in HYBE's main building, acting as a mix between manager, mental health counselor, life coach and sex therapist. If anyone had questions that they couldn't get figured out anywhere else, they came to Y/N. Cause she was just that good. New idols swore by her, even giving up time off some times, just to have appointments with her biweekly.
She was too good, to the point that even the jade rock statue that was Yoongi, would consult her when he was struggling. And he never even consulted his parents, so that was saying a lot. It was even more hilarious that their head of PR and sometimes even Bang PD were found creeping into her office. She was a magician and a queen and she knew it.
Taehyung nodded at her suggestions, not questioning her and got ready to head out the door as Y/N made her way out of his dressing room. She rarely did much strenuous activity, so she had this habit where she calculated her steps daily and would be found randomly pacing around the HYBE building with her tablet in hand.
As Y/N left his room, Jungkook walked in, smiling at y/n in glee, making grabby hands to try to hug her. She swatted him away with a smirk and walked away as he entered the room. He grunted, " Looking good Tae. Off to bag Ashley I see. You are pulling all the stops for this one". Taehyung shrugged , "No choice dude. She is super selective about who she dates. Which is why Y/N told me to go for a basic but chic look. And she told me to keep some gum on me, in case my breath stank. Because apparently classy girls hate garlic".
Jungkook nodded absently, clearly not interested in girls like Ashley, the daughter of a makeup corporation's CEO. He motioned for Taehyung to come closer, as if what he were about to say were a top secret, "Do you ever wonder what Y/n ACTUALLY looks like"? Taehyung, bopped him on his coconut head with his right hand. "The hell do you mean, what she actually looks like. Not like she is lying to us. The girl doesn't even wear makeup". Jungkook shook his head frantically, "That isn't what I mean. I mean, we don't even know her shape, she dresses so baggy she looks like a blob. And her face is obscured by her thick black specs that honestly look more like sunglasses because of the tinting. And her hair is always pulled up into a bun, so we don't even know the texture of her hair".
Taehyung pondered these sentiments. For sure, Y/N was very bland when it came to appearance. The only distinctive thing about her was her ocean breeze fragrance. Otherwise she blended into the background. "Why are you suddenly so curious Jungkook? She's worked for so long at HYBE. Why does it matter"? Jungkook looked uneasy as he proclaimed after a pregnant pause and gathered Taehyung even closer as if to divulge some national security threat, "I have a suspicion that she has a........please don't tell anyone my conjectures........big ........ASS".
Dumbfounded at his outlandish statement, Taehyung exclaimed in disbelief, "You mean a BADUNKADUNK, A G WAGON, A DUMP TRUCK? OUR Y/N"?!! He nervously tittered, "no way man, no way". Jungkook winced as he continued, "Well I am sort of curious, because you see...", he twiddled his thumbs with trepidation, "I sort of was looking when she bent over to pick up a pen...and her shirt sort of slid up and I saw something that looked massive. You know, of global proportions". He paused as if in deep concentration, finger on his head, "Worldwide, if I had to put it in the simplest terms. And the stranger thing, is that her scent smelled like strawberry cheesecake for all of 2 seconds till it switched back to her usual fragrance".
Both of them stood there, puzzled in a quandary. This may not seem like a big deal. But it definitely was. Because if Y/N was pretending to be someone else entirely, their world view and perception of life, may have just shifted drastically.

Strategizing and scenario planning are essential processes for any business that wants to navigate uncertainty, adapt to changing conditions, and position itself for success. Here's a primer on how to approach these tasks:

cw: not exactly angst. violence.
Yuuji wakes up, not on the cold, hard, and unfortunately familiar surface of Shoko’s operating table, but in the midst of disrupted concrete in the dark night. Just moments ago, the two of you were fighting a particularly strong curse and things had gotten unexpectedly out of control - you at a disadvantageous position, trying your best to launch your cursed technique to help to the best of your ability as his partner but consequently getting targeted by the special grade, him trying his best to keep you alive.
The last thing he can remember is a pivot in decision, from leaping to try to grab you and carry you out of harm’s way to practically throwing you as far out of the hit zone as possible, bracing himself for the guaranteed attack. The latter move was successful, he remembers, and everything then immediately went black.
Now he’s awake and his hand flies to his center, remembering a deep wound. Sticky, congealing blood meets his fingers, no longer with a human level of warmth but enough so that he knows it’s not fresh. Disoriented, he searches for the defect in his abdomen and can’t find it. It takes a moment for the pieces to fall into place, sudden shock initially tensing every muscle, locking every joint.
You didn’t…
Yuuji is wired immediately, fearing the worst, scrambling to his feet to search for you in the rubble. And you’re there - right beside him, but collapsed prone, your face turned towards him.
He panics, obviously, turning you over quickly, the rush of blood loud and terrifying in his eardrums even if he’s still attuned to danger. A threat is still looming around the two of you, but nothing else matters to him now, because you’re unconscious, and he’s not sure that you’re still breathing, and his head presses against your chest and all he can do is shake you:
“G-God, fuck… wake up!”
The pleading is desperate; his hands rub and search your face, wiping soot and blood from a slowly seeping head wound. Anything to wake you up. There’s a negotiation with heaven and earth and anything in between that he’d give up truly anything for you to open your eyes right this very second.
In you, he sees everyone he couldn’t save - Nanami, Nobara, Gojo…
Yuuji’s teeth clench and his eyes well up in tears, soaking into the fabric of your shirt as he buries his face against your body, holding you close.
Somewhere in his sobs, he whispers that he loves you and can’t lose you this way.
And it’s the only thing you manage to catch him say, as your eyes open and you shift back into consciousness with a deep gasp, the kind that kickstarts your lungs and runs your heart back into overdrive. Before you can say a word, Yuuji holds you closer again, overjoyed.
The sigh of relief that runs through his body and yours before the both of you retreat to a safer place to regroup and re-strategize is an even stronger, more definite declaration of love.

Headcanons about when the Pevensie siblings returned to England (the first time)
When they came back to England through the wardrobe and they returned to their younger bodies, naturally all the scars they received in Narnia disappeared. All but one, the one in on Edmund’s stomach remained, the one he got at his first battle. No one really knew why he still had it, why it hadn’t disappeared it just didn’t. It was there and it served as a constant reminder of the white witch, that the experience had been real.
Everyone noticed a change in the Pevensies when they came back from the countryside. That included their teachers.
Lucy was suddenly a very clever girl, not that she hadn’t been before, but now she had a maturity to her. Her reading ability had improved immensely and she wrote the most beautiful poems.
Edmund’s demeanour had turned a whole 180°. He was more strategic, less rash. It was way more difficult to make him mad, he usually just responded with a witty comeback. And he seemed to put more effort into his work. He had always been smart, but now he was outstanding. He passed all his classes with ease, except for history that is (he kept forgetting that they had never had a king named Frank). He had also gotten very much better at chess, there was no one in the whole school they could beat him, not even the English teacher Mr. Evenly that had gotten very far in the English championship in chess. (Let’s pretend that exists even if it doesn’t)
Susan stood straighter and had a more regal look to her demeanour, not in a way that she expected everyone to obey her or anything like that. It was just very difficult not to respect her. She had gotten very good at resolving conflicts and avoid violence.
Peter had also changed a lot, he was more mature but also more rash in his decisions. He started acting more with his fists (that didn’t really start until it had been about half a year). He did write amazing novels though, stories about battles. Battles with medieval methods and weapons. The details were incredible, it was almost as he’d been in the battles himself.
They all had gotten a whole lot better at swimming. Edmund managed to save a man double his size and weight when he went through the ice. Lucy was always very fast and her technique was like nothing teachers had seen before, it was like she had been taught by a fish. (Possibly mermaid or nymph of some kind.)(Same goes for the others, I just can’t really come up with something)
All of them had nightmares but they had also become very good at controlling and hiding certain emotions behind a curtain or wall.
Edmund often got panic attacks during the cold months, especially when it snowed. Susan started making him something warm to drink every time she noticed it was getting colder or she saw snow falling before school, Peter wrapped up and cuddled Edmund in blankets and Lucy just came into his room with her warm smile and sat and talked with him. With time he wasn’t as sensitive to cold and snow and the panic attacks died down but the small rituals of the siblings having this cosy bonding time with one another continued for a lot longer.
And through all of this Helen was an amazing mother, she might not know what the change in her children was caused by but she always helped. Through panic attacks and frantic studying, she held them after nightmares and she just kept being their mother. She was their mum and raised that just as good as Narnia had.
Hope it was to your enjoyment <3

It's in the Cards: Chapter One Excerpt
(It's in the Cards is an adult rom-com with speculative elements. Please note: this is a draft and is subject to change!)

Elliott Beck was getting good at lying.
When it came to lies, the devil was in the details, and nothing taught them details like managing Betsey’s Metaphysical Boutique on Ocean Avenue. They lied about candles for rituals, which customers could learn by purchasing beautiful spellbooks. They lied about herbs and sigils and crystals, sometimes giving multiple explanations for the same item within a single shopping day. Of course they used the spell jars! In fact, they’d used one that week to cleanse their apartment of negative energy! They wouldn’t mention that the “negative energy” was actually the smell of stale weed from their downstairs neighbors, but that was fine. People who came to Betsey’s weren’t interested in reality, anyway.
In the back of the narrow shop, Elliott sat in the corner they’d designated specifically for tarot readings. For customers, they’d provided a sofa strategically covered with blankets to hide its concerning stains. For themself, they’d found a wooden chair that was gorgeous to look at and hell to sit on. It was far from the elaborate setup they’d originally envisioned, but Betsey had only given them so much space in the already-cramped shop. What she hadn’t given them was a budget.
But the furniture didn’t matter, because they could wow customers with their most beautiful set piece: themself. Presently, they wore a purple button down dotted with shimmering stars. Mismatched earrings, a gold sun and moon, dangled from their ears. God, they hated the earrings. Elliott’s fingers knocked into them whenever they re-tousled their chin-length shag of blond hair.
“I love your earrings,” their current customer said. She was dressed for the beach, a shoulder bag of towels sitting on the floor beside her flip-flopped feet. “And I love your cards! What a pretty color.”
“Thanks! We have plenty of decks for sale!” None like Elliott’s, though. They should’ve flaunted a deck from the shop, but instead, they used the Dungeons and Dragons themed deck they’d bought for themself as a housewarming gift. The backs of the cards were a shimmering purple, a twenty-sided die in the center of each. The faces featured items from the game—adventurers, monsters, weapons—illustrated similar to a Rider-Waite deck. When they’d tried to explain the references to Betsey, they’d ended up trapped in an hour-long lecture about the history of tarot art.
“I might look around later,” the woman said in a way that meant she wouldn’t. “I was supposed to meet my family at the beach, but of course, none of them showed up on time. I thought this would be a fun way to wait instead of cooking in the sun!”
Probably a smart idea, considering she was the same shade of pasty white as Elliott, who’d sometimes get burnt in the time it took them to walk from their car to the shop. They placed a hand on their tip jar, as if to say, please look at my tip jar. It was actually a tip mug shaped to look like a fat orange cat, the handle made from its black-striped tail. This particular cat’s name was Norman, the unofficial mascot of Garfield Beach who the locals called Not Garfield as a nod to the town’s not-copyright infringement. On Not Garfield’s round belly, Elliott had taped a small sign: Tips appreciated - ELLIOTT BECK, they/them, cash or Venmo!
They began to shuffle. “Is there anything specific you’d like me to consider when I read your cards?”
“Nope! You’re the expert!”
They were glad she thought so, considering they’d only just started offering tarot readings a few weeks ago. “Then for your three-card spread, the first card will reflect your past, the second, your present, and the third, your future.” At least, that was one technique they’d learned while watching tarot YouTube tutorials while cooking. They set the deck on the table and spread the cards in an arc.
The woman reached forward. “Do I pick?”
“No.” They weren’t eager to have people’s hands on their personal deck…or their personal anything for that matter. “I’ll do all the touching. So, let’s start with your past.”
They flipped a card: The Eight of Wands.
“Ah,” they said.
“What does it show?” the woman asked.
Elliott wasn’t sure, because for the life of them, they couldn't remember what the Eight of Wands meant. Usually, the illustrations helped them remember meanings, but this one looked like a bunch of ambiguous sticks. Taking a deep breath, Elliott bobbed their head, hoping they appeared lost in thought. They didn’t need to provide a perfect interpretation—tarot was less about memorization and more about helping people gain insight into their lives. That was the advice given by someone with an unrepeatable username on Reddit, and Elliott intended to follow it.
“Wands are good,” they remembered. “But…sometimes, you can have too much of a good thing. It looks like you’ve recently had a lot on your plate.”
She wrinkled her nose. “I did do a ton of laundry before leaving to come here.”
“And besides that?”
“Well, there were dishes too.”
Elliott nodded calmly, internally screaming.

how can I describe an intense, suspenseful and viscous fight between two werejaguars and a human(who’s good with a gun) without it becoming repetitive “he clawed him”, “he shot him” for several pages?
As a disclaimer: for the werejaguar portion of this exercise, I’m going to focus on the jaguar part over the were part. Supernatural creatures come in all shapes and sizes and all with different rules attached. Anything I say will need to be balanced against the rules of your setting and what works for you. In this case, I’m assuming the jaguars are the antagonists but you can easily flip flop this the other way round to have it work.
The key aspect of building a good fight scene is understanding the players and the environment. Everything on top of that is technique, but you can’t get anywhere without a good foundation. This is the research phase.
Ask yourself what your characters want. What is the difference between what they can do vs what they want to do and what they’re willing to do? How do their weapons work? How do they choose to fight? Their background, current goals, and personality will dictate their actions. The temptation is to be general, but boil it down into specifics. This character is not just good with guns, what guns are they good with? The gun (or guns) the human character has chosen to arm themselves with will substantially change the shape of your fight scene. Are they carrying a weapon that would have an advantage over a big cat, much less a supernaturally enhanced big cat? Remember, good with guns doesn’t necessarily mean good at hunting, especially not hunting large predators. At what range is the weapon most effective?
Try to take every character in the scene into account. It’s easy to focus on your POV character as the decision maker and let them control the pace of the fight scene, but combat involves more than one character and more than one decision maker. Fight scenes are really 5% choreography, 20% characters strategizing, and 75% sitting there trying to figure out “well, if Character A lunged and Character B jumped out of the way on a 45 degree angle and is now behind Character A, and they’re in a narrow-ish hallway with a trash can, five windows, and no weapons, they’re going to do… what? exactly?” It’s the ultimate Choose Your Own Adventure game and fight scenes work best when the author makes an effort to manage both sides of the chessboard. It’s not about the end, it’s about how they choose to get there combined with whether or not their decisions work and their gamble pays off. Remember, it’s always a gamble and it’s okay to let your characters be wrong.
In this case, you don’t really have a fight so much as you have a hunt. That’s the through thread here between your characters. What this translates into is that your human needs the cats in front of him to get a clean shot while the jaguars want to be behind their prey. Big cats when they’re hunting and guns in general heavily rely on positioning to be effective. Neither of these two groups are going to want to be out in the open. For the human in this situation, an exposed back is a death sentence. This becomes especially true when there are two cats and they have to track both of them. As for your human, guns become less effective the closer you get. Despite what Hollywood teaches us, these are not close range weapons suited to hand to hand. Unless you’re working with a shotgun, you’re stuck with basic physics. The bullet needs time to travel to build up velocity for maximum penetration.
Jaguars are ambush predators. They use up a massive amount of energy per attack, which means they only have a few tries to get it right. Each failure carves off a massive chunk of their ability to continue the hunt before retreating. Humans, meanwhile, are persistence predators. Our animal brain is geared to outlast our prey, to pace them to death rather than run them down, and then kill when they are exhausted. Cats are also, by and large, solo hunters. Some cats do hunt together (siblings banding together happens more often than you might think, even outside of lions when there’s food to support it) but it’s generally not the norm. Whether this causes an instinctual conflict for your werecats is up to you. Their human half may be enabling them to hunt with sophisticated pack tactics. If so, I’d challenge you to consider what that looks like and sounds like as they communicate.
Your human with the gun is limited by the amount of ammo they have. They may be able to outlast the jaguars (depending on supernatural rules.) However, their ability to make a successful kill diminishes with each failed shot.
Jaguars, pound for pound, have the strongest bite force out of all the big cats. Their preferred hunting method isn’t to scratch or claw, it’s to sink their teeth through the back of the skull and into the brain in one swift, clean strike. Unlike some big cats, they largely don’t preferentially suffocate their prey first through the throat clamp. The claws are here to stop their prey from moving while they get that bite in. (If you’re having trouble visualizing how a jaguar moves, climbs, and stalks, I recommend watching some nature documentaries. Or, read some accounts of jaguars hunting humans. It happens.)
In this scenario, nobody’s squaring off unless it’s a feint. Both parties will be moving, getting into cover, and hiding until they can get into a good-ish position to make their attack. They’ll be relying on their senses to find their opponent and maneuver around them. Jaguars, being better at hiding, would in this scenario be forcing the human out of cover to look for them and, depending on their level of teamwork, utilizing each other as bait to lure their prey out. And they might work on getting the human to waste their ammunition first to limit their risk. If they’re smart, they’re trading off and the movement is coming from multiple directions. So, even if your human has a weapon that will kill the jaguars in a single, lucky shot, they’ll still (probably) be breaking cover to put themselves at risk and get a clean line of sight.
I’m not taking questions on the cats being better at stealth. I have an indoor white cat who ghosts off in a small apartment whenever she wants. Where is she? Somewhere. I don’t know unless she wants me to know. Cats are not dogs or wolves. They have a different methodology when it comes to hunting and even large cats possess the ability to vanish in urban environments that aren’t designed for them.
Anyway, this is your suspense. It’s not an original idea, but I recommend leaning harder into thriller, suspense, and horror when it comes to cats instead of straight up action. That terrifying gut twisting sensation of being all alone, not knowing where the enemy is, maybe hearing them but not being able to gauge how far away they are. Go watch some horror movies with big cats hunting people. Like The Ghost and the Darkness (1996) about the Tsavo man-eating lions, which, while not jaguars, is based on a true story and is a fantastic film.
It’s easy to get stuck on the concept of trading blows. “He punched him” and “he clawed him” and “he slashed him” or “he shot him” but remember that initial attacks are about creating openings. It’s rare for your opponent to magically be in the position you want them with all their vulnerable openings exposed, unless they’re caught by surprise. A lot of initial combat is about building into or setting up your finishing move, all while your opponent tries the same from the other side. Instead of thinking about your combatants as standing in stasis and duking it out, remember that they are in motion. They are moving, they are circling, they are bracing, they are hunting for that new position, that unguarded opening. If the opening is not there, create it.
