I think it's pretty common for young zoneborn kids to be given part of one of their parent's names as a way to identify them since traditional last names/family names aren't really a thing in the Zones. So like in my hcs Jet's mom is named Starry Eyes and usually went by Starry or Star, his given name was Jett, so he was Jett Star. The second t got dropped later since it was so rarely written out that people didn't know how it was meant to be spelled. Usually zoneborn kids change their name as they become more independent, but it's not too uncommon to meet people who keep all or part of their given name to remember their parents or out of respect for them.
