Helloooo!! I drew spock with another creature :D (I have no idea what it is called) I was inspired by the piece I made a while ago of Spock holding the cat, so I did the colour blocking technique I used last time since you guys seemed to like it ^_^ if y’all have any wishes for Star Trek characters with creatures pls lmk!! (I would happily make a series of it!!)
Anyways, have a good day/evening!!!

HOLD UP. It's some creature they know absolutely nothing about beyond that it's probably what has been driving whole planets to madness. It could be toxic upon contact. It could have some hidden defense mechanism that won't trigger until touched. Etc., etc., etc. But Jim Kirk just grabs the unknown thing barehanded? Without a single hesitation? Because it lands on Spock?? True love is real and I am reeling!

So the thing is I wasn’t going to comment on the sixth episode. I just got home from a hella good play and I’m tired so I relax with Star Trek but holy shit
Tumblr media
What IS that
With that HELLO and welcome to my first thoughts on the sixth episode (The Enemy Within) of the original Star Trek series
Here we go:
- that is a fucking dog
- IS THAT BLOOD?!? On Star Trek???
- so he got transporter cloned.. WHY IS HIS FACE LIKE THAT THO
Tumblr media
- I like the fact it’s told a bit in retrospect, like it starts off with the star date and saying that at the time they didn’t know he got cloned
- MCCOY! His friendliness and then the “I have no sympathy for clumsiness” bro wha
- DONT YELL AT MCCOY
- McCoy not knowing what to do about Jim so he goes to Spock lol
- what the fuck is that fuckin thing, it’s rabid man.
- anytime someone is holding the creature there is literally no reason for them to be holding it. Like Kirk is just holding it and then HANDS IT TO SPOCK.. WHY IS THIS NORMAL NOW
- so do people casually just sit on tables here? First we had McCoy, now Spock. Is it just science/medical officers?
- Vulcan nerve pinch for the win
- POV your boyfriends are deeply concerned for your wellbeing (side note: bones looks so soft in the first pic. He cares so much)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- “you have a point, Spock.” “Yes. Always, doctor” STOP FLIRTING
- “If I seem insensitive to what you are going through, you must understand it’s the way I am.” HE SAYS THIS WITH ALL THE CARE IN THE DAMN WORLD. Spock is the most emotional character I have ever seen
- uh oh the circuits
- nooo Sulu! Do they not have better cold protection?
- YEAH I HOPE YOU’RE IN PAIN FUCKER
- so I think what they’re trying to promote is the idea that there’s the kind and indecisive side and the animalistic “sinful” side that has all the impulses and power to make decisions and together they work so that the former side can calm the latter to be more… civilized?
- “god forbid I have to agree with Spock” they’re married and you cannot convince me otherwise
- was that dog okay? Like it was really fuckin angry at something
- HES DEAD JIM MOMENT! WE HAVE A HES DEAD JIM MOMENT
- “for once I agree with you, doctor” THEY ARE MARRIED
- Spock is so riled up rn (every time he shows emotion I’m commenting on it because I think he is so so emotional but then his whole thing is he isn’t)
- SPOCK YOUR LOGIC ISNT LOGICING (having a human half and Vulcan half I think is a bit different than literally being split into two people, but what do I know)
- they are literally the angel and devil on his shoulder, but married, and also in love with him
Tumblr media
- what no no bring Sulu back. That was such a good delivery of lines I am so
- this episode shows the power imbalance between Kirk and Janice and that messaging could be more powerful if they really wanted. Like showing how Janice felt forced to say she was okay with it and wouldn’t tell anyone because it was the captain I feel was a big step to take in the 60s (because it was rarely if ever talked about especially on tv) but it still wasn’t enough and was treated horribly in the end. They brush off her experience and also let Kirk be near her which is not okay. I know they wouldn’t but I wish they’d actually addressed the fact that Kirk can pretty much get away with anything and the crew wouldn’t/couldn’t stop him unless they deem it truly necessary (which would be way to far)
- I think the Kirk stuff could be more impactful
- some of those close ups on Kirk are crazy
- Bones is so damn worried about him in the transporter room
- SPOCK IS STRESSED AND HE HESITATES
- “the imposters back where he belongs, forget him” but isn’t the thing is that he is you? Like he’s still there and apart of you, Kirk
Okay, that’s episode six. I don’t have much more to say about this episode.

I had a dream that during an interview leonard nimoy talked about a cut scene during TOS where spock was on a space station teaching a group of children from a bunch of different races - human, klingon, andorian, cardiassian (even tho they were introduced in TNG iirc), etc - about appreciating the value of every creature's life, all while holding/petting a tiny brown bunny near his chest and the gentlest of smiles and it was the sweetest thing
I vaguely remember him saying something along the lines of "these little four legged devils are the bane of doctor McCoy's existence, but still hold many virtues" and it was precious. Nimoy said something like he wanted spock to smile even the tiniest bit during the scene because it's something he truly believes in (IDIC) and is passing along to children; his father was a teacher as well as an ambassador and spock eventually becomes one too in twok (and in many ways this smile was leonard nimoy shining through the character of spock)
It was a good dream

This art was created in a very funny way. My friend, whom I successfully hooked on Star Trek, was saying out loud some dramatic tense scene while I was literally sketching it all. When she saw that I had brought it to life, she wanted to supplement it with a beautiful passage. I hope you like it no less than me.
***
- You don't see!? He needs help! The captain shouted, trying in vain to escape, - Kirk was held by two men, diligently wringing his hands. Dumbfounded, McCoy only held his hand with horror over a fresh wound on his arm, from which blood was oozing profusely.
He quickly shifted his gaze from the attackers' phasers to the first mate. However, neither a way to get the first aid kit back, nor the thought of how not to run into a couple of shots, did not arise. The doctor's head was spinning, the sleeve of the torn turtleneck was soaked with blood. Mentally calculating the remaining time for himself and for Spock, whose unconscious body lay just a few steps away, he cursed inwardly.
One of the men holding Kirk pressed down on the scratches on his back, forcing the captain to clench his teeth harder and get down on one knee. He looked with hatred at the man leading the group, stealing glances at the medic present.
- What kind of creatures are you! Do you have at least a drop of humanity in you!? The captain, who was being pressed into the sand, continued to rage.
McCoy took a deep breath, glanced briefly at the mockingly green sky. Time was running out.
- Fuck, let me, your mother, bandage him! Bones pleaded. – I'm a damn doctor! He will die if you don't…
One of the men standing next to the doctor hit him in the stomach with his elbow, causing the doctor to bend in half.
- I'm a doctor! All I need is a bandage and time! Give me a damn bandage! -The doctor croaked, staring intently at the man holding his first aid kit. A few more minutes and he won't be able to bandage anyone at all, because he's unlikely to be in a more acceptable condition there than Spock is now.
A cold voice sounded above his head: "Give him a bandage." The man McCoy was glaring at took out a first aid kit and threw a couple of skeins to the ground, making their use potentially dangerous. Kirk froze, watching as his friend rushed forward amid the guffaws of the attackers. The captain could not tear himself away from the doctor's convulsive movements, from his trembling hands and the despair splashing in his eyes.
"It won't be enough," Bones whispered, barely audible, unwinding the bandages with jerky movements and, as if in some kind of madness, trying to stop Spock's green blood. Still hot, pouring from open wounds, the blood of the first mate of the Enterprise.
- Give him more! James rebelled again, causing a new wave of laughter.
The doctor now and then measured the pulse of the unfortunate, put his cheek to at least feel the weak breathing on the skin. He hated moments like this. When the seconds count, when someone's life hangs in the balance, McCoy's heart bled.
Supporting the unconscious Vulcan's back, McCoy froze for a moment, leaning his back against a boulder behind him. His head was spinning, goosebumps were running before his eyes, as if the disgusting guffaw and Kirk's scream could be heard through the water.
"Son of a bitch! Damn son of a bitch! Don't leave me... damn it! DON'T LEAVE IT! " - Bones scolded himself out of impotence, putting a new layer on top of the previous one. There were not enough bandages. His clothes were stained with blood, and the doctor's right hand was almost unresponsive.
Panic was rising in his throat., Spock's body seemed too cold, too pale. During the whole time he did not make a sound, only once he slightly lifted his eyelids. McCoy inadvertently looked into the Vulcan's pain-filled eyes, and a desperate plea flashed through Bones's mind: "... please."
***
There is an open ending here and everyone can quite imagine the ending they want. It all depends on how much you like to hurt yourself and others. Personally, I intend to write my own ending, which I will certainly post soon.

“What is this?”
Jim’s cheeks were starting to hurt from smiling, but he angled his PADD and took another snapshot.
“It’s a puppy!”
“Ashayam,” said Spock patiently, the effect rather ruined by the wriggling creature in his arms. “I am aware of what a canine’s young is called. I was referring to the situation. Where did you find this puppy, and why is it here?”
Hearing Spock say ‘puppy’ like he was talking about a photon torpedo was even better than Jim had dared to hope.
“It’s not an ‘it,’ she’s a ‘her,’ and I adopted her!”
That little crease of confusion appeared between Spock’s eyebrows. Adorable. “You – ”
“Well, we adopted her. I have paperwork for you to sign, by the way.”
Spock held the little brown ball of fluff out at arms’ length and examined her with a critical eye, then looked at Jim doubtfully. The puppy’s hind legs scrabbled at the air. “Jim,” he tried again. “Why did you not consult me about this?”
Jim summoned his best puppy dog eyes - which, he realized belatedly, he was going to have competition at now - and chewed on the corner of his lip in that way he knew made Spock melt.
Spock’s expression barely shifted, but Jim just knew he was melting on the inside. Gooey and delicious, just like that Betazoid chocolate they’d experimented with that time on Risa –
Jim shook himself out of that thought. God forbid he say this, but it wasn’t the time.
“I wanted it to be a surprise,” he pouted, reaching up to scratch the pup behind her ears. She flipped her tiny head this way and that trying to lick at his fingers. Jim giggled happily, and when he looked up Spock was giving him that look.
The one that said plainly to anyone paying attention that in Spock’s estimation Jim might as well have hung the stars in the cosmos.
“Fine,” Spock said. He shifted the pup in his arms so he was holding her less like a bomb and more like a - furry, yelpy, awkward - baby. “We may keep her.”
“Yes!” Jim punched the air and planted a noisy kiss on Spock’s cheek. He turned to their new dog, smooshing her face between his hands. “You hear that? You are officially the newest addition to the Kirk family.” Jim paused. “House of Surak family? What are we? Do you even have a last name?” He injected his voice with betrayal. “Why don’t I know these things? You clearly don’t trust me, I want a divorce.”
Spock just sighed, which was similar to him doing nothing at all, and turned away.
“Hey, where are you going?”
“I presume you did not prepare sufficiently before bringing her home – ”
“Uhhhh…”
“ – so I’m going to make a list of supplies we will need to make certain she is given proper care.”
“See!” Jim cried. He spread his arms wide to illustrate his point. “This is why we make a great team.”
“You may pick a name for her, if you prefer,” Spock went on as though Jim were simply part of the furniture and hadn’t just spoken. “But I reserve the right to veto any ridiculous suggestions.”
Spock deposited the puppy on the floor, and she promptly trotted after him to paw insistently at his heels.
Jim frowned. “Admiral Floof is not ridiculous.”
“I am not referring to our pet as ‘Admiral Floof’ to others with the ability to hear spoken language.”
“I don’t know,” Jim grinned, “that was pretty endearing. Say it again.”
The Admiral chose that opportune moment to pee all over Spock’s new boots.
Spock looked up at him and narrowed his eyes as if this were all Jim’s fault.
Jim slapped on an open-mouthed smile and shot both fists into the air. “Parenthood! This is gonna be fun!”

Okay sibs there's an almost 2k wip that I will never finish because I suddenly felt like I don't like the idea at all and I really really don't want to finish it. But I guess I can put it here bc it's not bad for a wip imo Dunno how you usually put wips so.
Spock accidently experiencing death whilst in a mind meld with a dying creature
For lack of a better metaphor it feels like a fourth degree burn.
Not in a sense of a great pain, more like in a sense of a great loss of any sensation. Layer after layer losing any ability to feel anything at all, be it an agonizing pain or a soft touch of a spring breeze.
What’s even worse – he’s vulcan. Oh how he prides himself upon being one, but with pride goes its coast – he’s too well aware of what’s happening in his body. He can shut off any pain, he can stop impulses from running up his brain to disturb his precious mind, he meditates, he knows over a dozen breathing techniques, he can pinpoint a source of pain down to millimeters.
And now he feels how senses in his body die. One after another. He feels as all five layers of epidermis from stratum corneum down to stratum basale all one after another lose their functions, lose their sensitivity. It is painful, of course it is, but more than painful it’s frightening. He’s not in control. He can’t stop it. He can’t even take another breath to hold himself together. He screams. His mind is a mess but a little part, the smallest little patch of logic, stoicism and everything he likes to call *vulcan* feels ashamed of such a pathetic show of pain. He must control himself.
Even though it’s impossible.
He’s dying.
There’s nothing to control. Only to accept.
Even though he can’t. He has no right to accept it.
He’s on duty. He’s a valuable officer. And he must protect himself.
Pain worsens with every second and he can’t feel his legs, he can’t feel his forearms, his head cracks and big sweat droplets run down the neck. So ticklish. Such a strange sensation amidst the pain.
He’s dying surprisingly fast but not fast enough to relieve him of this pain. He must fight back, he must survive, but how? How?.. His mind is not his own anymore, his mind is suppressed by fear and pain and it doesn’t seem to rebel in the nearest future.
It’s not even cold. He thought it would be cold, how many times he heard about how cold death is, how many times he touched a corpse only to find it considerably cold, but now neither cold nor warm. It's an absolute nothing and he can't comprehend it. The small part of his brain, the one that fears, the one that bare teeth as a stupid display of happiness, the one that screeches and slither around like an ancient reptile, the one he calls *human* screams and tries to take another breath.
It’s useless.
There’s no need for oxygen for a dead brain.
Vulcan shuts his mouth – he must not show any fear or any pain. If he must die he must die in a vulcan way – with dignity and cold certainty of what is awaiting for him.
Human bares his teeth – he must survive at any cost. He must try until he runs out of breath. If he must scream – he will. if he must roll in dust – he will. If he must cry – he will. The horror of non-existence is incomprehensible so he must live. In agony, in pain, filled with fire, filled with cold, but he must live.
But then he dies.
And there’s nothing he can do.
***
– Spock!
He can’t stop shaking him even though he knows it’s useless. The creature died while Spock was still in the mindmeld with it and now his eyes are rolled backwards and he inhales and inhales but he can’t exhale. If nothing is done soon enough Spock will just suffocate.
Kirk stops shaking him, puts him back on the ground and lightly slaps his cheeks. No response. He clenches his teeth and withdraws his arm to slap Spock across his face when Bones finally comes and grabs his hand midst air.
– Jim, for god’s sake, snap out of it! Step back.
It takes Kirk two seconds, no more, to blink and process what's been said to him. He gets on his feet and lets McCoy work. For a moment in the darkness of this enormous cave shines the metall of an ampul. Second later a quiet sound of injection, so loud in the cold silence, died down. Kirk didn’t feel an ounce of relief. He's been friends with McCoy long enough to know that no injection, no pill or mixture is a total cure for all. Especially now, when Spock isn’t even hurt, not actually, not physically. McCoy can help when it's a physical injury. But when it’s mental…
Spock finally takes a long inhale and loudly exhales, all the muscles in his body loosens and for a moment it seems like he’s going to be okay.
McCoy leans back. He takes Spock’s wrist, adjusts his hands and then…
And then he furrows his brows. Kirk remains quiet but he already knows – Bones will find no pulse at the wrist. Nor at the neck. Nor at any other point. Yet still he’s silent. He’s not a medic after all, just some stupid little captain with a professional deformation called “Hope for the best, expect the worst”.
McCoy tries to find a pulse at the wrist but at some point his hand races to the neck. Same deal. Seconds past. Kirk flexes his jaw. He’s useless now. He tries not to think about it.
McCoy's face flashes fear and he leans on the Spock’s chest. His mouth agape. He licks his lips waiting for anything. The scariest part is anticipation. He waits for anything – for him to respond, for him to not respond, for literally anything.
McCoy’s eyes racing – ancient brain tries to find the source of the sound he’s looking for, not understanding that it’s hidden beneath meat and bones. Kirk clenches his fists, nails sinks into the flesh. He wants this pain to distract him but his eyes ache from how much he focuses on Spock’s lifeless figure.
Moments passes by.
A single droplet of unknown liquid drips from the cave’s ceiling.
Kirk bites his lower lip.
And then McCoy takes a sudden loud breath, squints his eyes and sits straight.
– I swear to god, – he whispered on the exhale, – one day I’ll kill him with my bare hands…
– Bones-
– He’s alive, okay? It’s just that his heart decided it would be oh so funny to slow his pulse to the point it almost doesn't exist and call it a day.
– But it’s… bad, isn’t it?
– For humans – yes. For vulcans – a regular self-preservation measure. He’ll be fine.
Finally Kirk’s tensed shoulders drop. He lets out a tired exhale.
– Would it be dangerous for him if I “transport” him myself or should we wait for a gurney?
– There’s no physical injury as far as I can tell so you can get him up. Besides I don’t want to spend another minute in these caves, not only can we be killed any other minute but it smells absolutely horrendous in here.
Kirk paid no attention to the remark. Right now, the moment they speak, dozens of Enterprise personnel beamed up injured from caves collapse and creature’s assault. Actually it’s better than the operation on the Janus IV. But only in the matter that almost no one died. But injured… Kirk knows McCoy already thinks how to arrange people – sickbay of Enterprise is spacious by comparison to other ship’s but at the end of the day it can accommodate oh so many people. And then he has to decide and decide quickly – who can wait for help and who needs it right away, what injuries he has to inspect himself and what he can delegate to nurses.
McCoy is on edge and it does no justice to his temper.
Kirk knows to ignore it.
He steps closer to Spock, squats, takes Spock’s one hand and in one swift motion get’s him on his own back. Spock is much taller than Kirk and weighs accordingly, it takes Kirk a second time to stand up. It still fascinates him that the unconscious body seems to weigh more. He tries to entertain himself with such a silly lil thought rather than thinking about how his friend is lying on his shoulders unconsiouse because he just quite literally experienced death in all of its glory.
– Can we beam up from here?
McCoy got the empty ampule and was ready to go.
– No, we gotta return to the station. For some reason the ship can’t get to us down here.
– Oh mother of-, McCoy started but quickly aborted, – Okay, let’s waste no time I have a job to do.
– Get your phaser ready. Don't hesitate to use it.
– Is it of any use?
Kirk stares at him. He gives McCoy a little smile.
– Get your phaser ready.
McCoy wants to shout at him, Kirk can tell from just one look at him, but he draws his phaser and doesn't ask any further questions.
Of course phasers are useless there, but what else could've Kirk said? Of course McCoy would've appreciated it if Kirk just finally admitted that they're helpless in this situation, but how could he admit it when his whole career is based on him looking confident enough for people to not get into a state of maddening panic every time something goes wrong? Of course Kirk himself would've like to show this little pathetic, yet still very human, fear – his first officer is out for good, almost third of his personnel injured, almost third of miners is dead, they all being chased by unknown creature that still showed no sign of being injured or at least tired –but he's not a human, not on duty, he's the symbol, the beacon, people look for him for guidance, more than guidance, they look at him for reassurance. He's a glacier, he's stoic, he keeps on smiling in a dire situation. He can't just say “it's useless”. He's the last hope for people around him. If captain James T. Kirk still smiles, it means it's not that bad. They'll figure it out somehow. They'll be fine.
They start to walk. McCoy paranoingnly turns on each sudden sound he hears and the only thing Kirk can do in this situation is to pray to whoever listens that this little walk be uneventful. McCoy is a healer, he's more than useless with a phaser.
Creatures lure in the dark seeking revenge for a killed brother but are too scared of the barbaric humans to come closer. Kirk is scared. Not in a typical sense, not like usual people are. Sometimes he feels like his gland in charge of fear atrophied long ago – you can’t be scared in the middle of operation, you can be either before it or after, never in the midst – and instead there's a mechanic substituted in its place.
“Hey, Jamey, don't want to bother but this shting is pretty shpooky to me and if I were you(which I'm obviously not) I would've been pretty damn scared. But you're your own man, I mean, do what you think is right, I'm by no means telling you how to act. So, here's your adrenalin, cortisol, lactic acid and some other chems, you know what to do with them  too-da-loo~”
And this one silly thought keeps him focused. Imagining your own fear as a friendly machine that just does things it's programmed to, as a separate from you entity, makes it easier to manage. He's not his fear, and suddenly he can think logically, and suddenly his mind is in control.
Spock's tunic brushes against his cheek. Ticklish. Such a strange sensation amidst the chaos.

Logos and Pathos (Book 3) Chapter Three
Spock x Empath! Reader
Chapter Three: Clouded Sight
Summary: Spock and Kollos mind-link, which proves interesting and solves one problem, but there are always more to come.
On the Bridge, a small barrier had been set up around Spock’s station. Kollos’s container sat behind it, so when Spock stepped up with the visor in his hand, he was sure to be the only one to see Kollos.
(Y/N) touched Spock’s fingers with their own before he nodded to them and walked behind the screen. He knelt and opened the container. The green light shone from behind the screen. (Y/N) held their breath, closing their eyes and focusing on the emotions radiating around them. Kollos’s held no malice, just calm as he joined with Spock. (Y/N)’s shoulders sagged in relief that there was no danger in Kollos. At least this wouldn’t be like the situation with Henoch.
Spock-Kollos straightened behind the screen and walked out. The entire Bridge gazed at him curiously, wondering if it had worked. Kirk glanced at (Y/N), and they nodded. Kollos’s emotions radiated from Spock’s body.
Spock-Kollos looked over the bridge; their eyes only paused on (Y/N) and Jones. It wasn’t that much of a surprise to (Y/N), though. The Spock part loved them, and (Y/N) suspected the Kollos part loved Jones. Some people would get jealous of seeing their boyfriend’s body look lovingly at another person, but (Y/N) could differentiate between Spock and Kollos and knew their boyfriend only loved them, so seeing Kollos love Jones didn’t affect them.
Spock-Kollos smiled (though any emotion shown was likely more Kollos than Spock. Probably completely Kollos and not Spock. This was a little weird to see). “This is delightful. I know you…” said Spock-Kollos. “All of you!”
“James Kirk, Captain and friend for many years,” said Spock-Kollos. They smiled at Bones. “And Leonard McCoy…” They chuckled. “…also of long acquaintance.” Spock-Kollos’s eyes landed on (Y/N), and a wider smile spread across their face. “(Y/N)…who means more to me than I can say. ‘To see the bright eyes of the dear one.’ ” Spock-Kollos gazed happily at (Y/N)’s golden eyes as they crinkled in a smile.
“That’s not Spock,” said Bones as he heard the poetry.
Spock-Kollos’s smile fell, and they raised an eyebrow. “Are you surprised to find that I’ve read Byron, Doctor?”
(Y/N) snorted. Now that was definitely Spock’s mind.
“That’s Spock!” said Bones in delight.
“Am I addressing the Ambassador?” asked Kirk.
“In part,” said Spock-Kollos. “That is, part of us is known to you as Kollos.” Their eyes landed on Jones, and (Y/N) suppressed a smile as Kollos’s emotions spiked in happiness upon seeing her. “Ah, Miranda…There you are. ‘Oh brave new world that has such creatures in it.’ ”
“ ‘Tis new to thee,’ ” finished Jones.
“My world is next for us,” said Spock-Kollos. They gazed at her for a moment before turning to Kirk. “Captain Kirk, I speak for all of us you call Medusans. I am sorry for the trouble I’ve brought to your ship.”
“We don’t hold you to blame for what happened,” assured Kirk. “And thank you now for your help.
Spock-Kollos nodded. “And now, to the business at hand. With your permission, Captain.”
“Yes. Mr. Sulu, release the helm to Mr. Spock,” said Kirk.
“Aye, sir.” Sulu stood, and Spock-Kollos took his seat.
They get to work immediately. They worked the controls carefully with a skill very few possessed. “Coordination is complete.”
“Then go ahead, Spock, Ambassador Kollos,” said (Y/N).
“Warp 1 in six seconds,” said Spock-Kollos. “Five…four…three…two…one…zero.”
The Enterprise moved forward on a charter course back to their own galaxy. Lights flashed around them as they flew, but they didn’t stop. With a final bright explosion, the Enterprise broke back into their original galaxy.
“Position report, please, Mr. Chekov,” said Kirk.
“Our position…Our position is so close to the point where we entered the void that the difference isn’t worth mentioning,” said Chekov in amazement. “Bullseye, Mr. Spock.”
“Good job, Spock, Ambassador Kollos,” said (Y/N), smiling.
            “Thank you, (Y/N),” said Spock-Kollos.
“Take over, Mr. Sulu,” said Kirk in satisfaction. “Thank you, Ambassador.” Spock-Kollos stood. “Mr. Chekov, plot a new course.”
“The new heading will be plotted in a minute, sir,” said Chekov.
Spock-Kollos felt their chest. “How compact your bodies are…and what a variety of senses you have!” They smiled broadly. “This thing you call language, though—most remarkable. You depend on it for so very much. But is any one of you really its master?” Their smile fell. “But most of all, the aloneness…You are so alone. You live out your lives in this shell of flesh, self-contained, separate…how lonely you are…how terribly lonely…”
(Y/N) shivered at the cloud of melancholy around Spock-Kollos. They could only imagine how Spock felt with his emotions so intertwined with the second mind in his body. “Ambassador…I believe it’s time to sever the link.”
“So soon?” asked Spock-Kollos with a frown.
            “We can’t wait,” said (Y/N).
“You are wise,” said Spock-Kollos. They nodded and stepped around the screen. They knelt, and Kollos’s container opened.
(Y/N)’s eyes widened a fraction too late. “The visor!” they cried. “Spock!” He cried out, and (Y/N) covered their mouth in horror.
“Don’t move! No one is to move,” ordered Kirk.
“Spock? Are you alright?” asked (Y/N) hesitantly.
Spock stood, a wild look in his eyes, and a tinge of fear twirled across (Y/N)’s skin. Their eyes widened. He was deeply disturbed if he showed any sort of emotion.
“Spock, you’re alright. You’re safe,” said Kirk, holding out his hands.
Spock grabbed his wrists roughly, and they began to push at each other. Spock threw Kirk to the side, and Bones jumped up. Spock easily hit him aside, and even Sulu and Chekov were shoved away from him.
(Y/N) moved in front of Spock, and he faltered. Even in his insanity, his heart leapt at the sight of them. They reached out and touched his head, closing their eyes and drawing at his madness. Spock’s eyes rolled into the back of his head, and he collapsed, unconscious.
“He’s barely breathing,” said Bones grimly, quickly checking his pulse. “Help me get him to Sickbay!”
“Spock…” murmured (Y/N) worriedly. They couldn’t bring him out of this type of madness on their own. They looked at Jones. They needed a telepath. (Y/N)’s blood ran cold when they saw no concern in Jones’s aura.
l
(Y/N) sat beside Jones and Spock in Sickbay. As they kept the madness at bay, Jones attempted to bring Spock’s logical mind back. So far, they were having no luck, but (Y/N) had a terrible feeling Jones wasn’t trying as hard as she could.
Outside of the room, Kirk and Bones’s anger and worry at the situation filtered in like a cloud, and (Y/N) took a deep breath to focus. Their attention was taken, however, when Kirk walked into Sickbay.
“Who is it?” asked Jones. Her cloak of sensors lay on a table to the side.
            “Captain Kirk,” said (Y/N).
“I have no news for you, Captain,” said Jones.
            “No change?” asked Kirk.
“He’s…he’s struggling,” said (Y/N), voice hoarse.
“What are you doing about it, Dr. Jones? (L/N) is holding his madness at bay, aren’t you bringing Spock’s mind back?” asked Kirk.
“I’m doing what I can,” said Jones.
“Which doesn’t seem to be much,” said Kirk, speaking what he knew (Y/N) would not.
Jones scoffed. “No doubt you think I can wake him with a kiss.”
“I doubt that would work with anyone other than (L/N),” said Kirk.
            “He’s a Vulcan,” said Jones.
            “Only half,” said (Y/N).
“The other half is human, far more human than you, apparently,” said Kirk.
(Y/N) shivered as heat from Jones’s anger prickled their arms.
“Face reality, Captain, his mind has gone down almost too far for me to reach,” said Jones.
“I can feel him. He’s still there, he’s not dead yet, we have a chance,” said (Y/N), narrowing their eyes. “Why won’t you help him?”
“Because that’s what you want, isn’t it?” said Kirk harshly.
Jones tried to push past him. “That’s a lie!”
Kirk grabbed her shoulders. “Oh, no, it isn’t. You want him to die. What did you do to him on the Bridge? Did you make him forget to put the visor over his eyes?”
Jones emotions were a whirlwind, and (Y/N) took a step back from the telepath’s aura, holding Spock’s hand tightly. “You’re insane!” cried Jones, but there was a level of truth to Kirk’s accusations of her not completely desiring Spock’s recovery showing in her emotions of envy and satisfaction.
“Yes, you know your rival, don’t you?” questioned Kirk. “You couldn’t keep him from making a mind-link with Kollos, something that you couldn’t do yourself. With my words, I’ll make you hear such ugliness as Spock saw when he looked at Kollos with his naked eyes.”
Jones cried out at Kirk’s words.
(Y/N) stepped forward and put their hand on Kirk’s shoulder. He looked at them in surprise before letting go of Jones and letting them face her.
“Miranda…” said (Y/N) softly, and Jones looked at them. “Miranda, please. I love him. I know you love Kollos, I know you wish you could see him, but you can’t. I’m sorry. But please, don’t make me lose the man I love because of jealousy.”
Jones stared at (Y/N), and a deep sadness enveloped them both. Jones’s emotions calmed into a steady melancholy. She wished to see who she loved and couldn’t. But she understood (Y/N) was right. She couldn’t punish Spock for her own jealousy.
“I-You’re right. I’m sorry,” said Jones. She extended her hand. “Lead me back to him.”
“Thank you, Miranda,” said (Y/N), taking Jones’s hand and guiding her to Spock’s side. (Y/N) took ahold of his hand, and Jones touched his temples. Together, the empath and telepath dove into Spock’s mind.
Spock stirred, his hand gripping (Y/N)’s tighter. He jerked, and (Y/N) pushed their comforting emotions into him, calming him. And then he jerked up abruptly, furrowing his brow as he cleared his mind.
“Spock!” cried (Y/N), hugging him tightly.
Spock blinked in surprise. “Was it truly that surprising that I regained my logical mind?”
(Y/N) let go and rolled their eyes. “Unbelievable.” But a smile appeared on their lips. That was their boyfriend.
l
Spock and (Y/N) deposited Kollos’s container on the transporter. They liked the Ambassador, but with the trouble they’d endured, they couldn’t help but be satisfied the ordeal would be over with.
Jones entered behind them, wearing her sensory cloak once more.
Bones shook her hand. “You have what you wanted most?”
“I am one with Kollos,” said Jones.
(Y/N) smiled. They had linked minds. Jones couldn’t see him, but their minds were one, and she was happy.
“Well, I’m truly sorry that you’re leaving. Goodbye,” said Bones with a smile.
Kirk stepped forward next, and Jones smiled at him. “We’ve come to the end of an eventful trip, Captain.”
“I didn’t think you’d even talk to me,” said Kirk.
“Well, I have you to thank for my future,” said Jones. She looked at (Y/N). “Both of you. Your words enabled me to see my mind was clouded.”
(Y/N) smiled at Jones and nodded. “It was my pleasure.”
Kirk smiled. “Miranda, good luck…health.” He pulled a rose from behind his back. “I have something for you.”
Jones took it and smiled. “I suppose it has thorns.”
“I never met a rose that didn’t,” said Kirk.
Jones smiled and smelled the rose as she stepped up onto the transporter. She looked at Spock and (Y/N). “I know now the great joy you felt when you joined minds with Kollos.”
“I rejoice in your knowledge and in your achievement,” said Spock honestly.
“I understand, Mr. Spock, the glory of creation is in its infinite diversity,” said Jones.
“And the ways our differences combine to create meaning—” Spock’s eyes turned to (Y/N) “—and beauty.”
“I wish you and Kollos the best of luck,” said (Y/N), smiling at Jones.
“And I wish you and Mr. Spock a long and happy life together,” said Jones, shaking (Y/N)’s hand before boarding the Transporter. She raised a hand in the Vulcan salute and smiled. “Live long and prosper.”
“Live long and prosper,” repeated (Y/N) and Spock.
And then Jones and Kollos were gone.
l
“So, are you still feeling alright? Mentally?” asked (Y/N), fretting over Spock as they sat him down in his quarters. Bones had ordered (and made sure Kirk followed up that order) Spock to go rest after the bout of madness.
“I am fine,” said Spock, but he didn’t object to (Y/N)’s concerned hands on his face as their Celian physical affection came through in worry.
            “Are you sure?” said (Y/N).
Spock reached up and took (Y/N)’s hands in his own. “Yes, T’hy’la. You saved me yet again.”
“Well, me and Miranda,” said (Y/N).
Spock looked at (Y/N) and pulled them so they sat beside him on his bed. “T’hy’la, without you, I would have lost myself many times. Do not push your abilities to the side.”
(Y/N) smiled at him. “You’re so kind to me.”
“I speak the truth,” said Spock.
(Y/N) laughed at his usual logic and kissed him.
Spock kissed back. In his mind, this counted as rest. And he didn’t particularly like listening to Bones’s orders anyways.

The ballroom dancing fic is finally finished!
AO3
Excerpt below:
Never, when you go on an away mission, do you expect it to go exactly as planned. Which is exactly why you never send the entire bridge crew together, that way there is always someone to get you out of trouble when you inevitably get into one.
That of course assumes one part of the bridge crew doesn’t get lost, the other trapped while searching for them and the third transported down directly from the bridge because of the second party who has gotten themselves mind controlled in the meantime.
Yes. This was just one of those days aboard the Enterprise.
“Spock,” Jim approached his first officer, closing the already small gap between them, “would you care for a dance?” He offered him his shoulder to grab a hold of.
All in all it was not his best concealed way of pulling Spock aside for a much needed conversation but with how title time he’s had to think, it would have to do.
Spock was looking around, quite obviously searching for an exit out of the enormous ballroom into which the crew had been enclosed about twenty minutes ago. “Captain, do you indeed think that to be the best way to spend our-”
Jim interrupted Spock quickly, putting on an overly pleasant smile. “Since our guests have prepared such an… exquisite evening for us, I think it would be rude of us to not engage in the activities they laid out.” He eyed one of the Rioans- a species of vaguely humanoid gaseous creatures totally unknown to the federation until the Enterprise stumbled upon them when exploring an allegedly uninhabited planet.
The creature seemed to be examining them in return, its ‘head’ turned towards the two of them while the rest of its body floated and swirled in tune with a rhythm of music that filled the space. If it got any suspicion that the starship’s captain was conspiring with his first officer, there would be very little stopping it from turning them into mindless drones just like the rest of the crew was. Most of them have already been affected, dancing or talking placidly with the Rioan inhabitants of the planet, their eyes glazed over by a milky shade of white and minds focusing on nothing but their respective dance partners.
”I believe you are correct, captain.” Spock noticed the creature slowly floating over and took Jim’s offered arm hastily. “Please, lead the way.”
Spock let Jim walk him towards a less populated area and assumed a formal dance position which is when Jim noticed a great design flaw in his amazing plan. He had no idea how to dance. Sure, he’s had a class or two back at the academy, but that was years ago. “I am afraid that I have very little idea as to what to do now, mister Spock.” Jim took a searching look at the Vulkan, hoping that he would be able to help out.
“Perhaps I might take the lead then?” Spock asked, opening his arms for Kirk to join him. Jim swallowed down his doubts and accepted the gesture, wrapping one arm over Spock’s wais, his hand landing just over where his heart must be. As he reached for Spock’s other hand to hold, he hesitated. Spock has never actually set up a boundary with Jim about holding hands but it was a taboo in their relationship both of them were acutely aware of.
As the music in the room, which had died down moments ago, picked back up, Spock grabbed hold of Jim’s wrist, solving the dilemma for him. Then, his ears perked up like a cat on a prowl, began to analyze the tune. “The current music suggests we engage in the earth dance of waltz.” He summarized. “Are you familiar?”

A Whovian Watches Star Trek for the First Time: Part 116 - Tilly in the Network
Star Trek: Discovery - Season 2 Episode 5 - Saints of Imperfection
Tumblr media
This episode picks up exactly where engineering left off, with May pulling Sylvia Tilly into the Spore Network, and Michael is kinda doing this thing of burying herself into her work to distract from her sadness about the situation. It's very Vulcan of her, and I can't wait to see how it tears her up.
Meanwhile, Discovery has come across Spock's shuttle, however Spock isn't responding, and Discovery are left with no choice but to open fire before the shuttle can enter a nebula through which Discovery can't follow. They successfully immobilise the SHuttle, and bring it aboard, but to everyone's surprise, Spock isn't on Board: Georgiou is.
Now, last season I didn't like a lot of what they did with Georgiou after leaving her universe, they were a few interesting moments towards the end, but I didn't like that she her comeuppance so bringing her into the main universe in the end kinda felt unjustified. I'm still holding out for some villainous downfall this season, and here specifically, putting her right next to Pike who has built up as very much archetype of the paragon Starfleet Captain, when she is very much the prime example of what I imagine most Terran Captains are like (Granted, my sample size is very limited for them), should be a really interesting point of contrast.
Also the music that plays when she enters, is just perfect. I don't feel like I highlight soundtracks enough on these, but I love Evil Georgiou's theme.
Georgiou is still pretending to be our Universe's Georgiou, but Pike apparently has history with her. Georgiou's current mission for Section 31 is to hunt down Spock. Unfortunately Section 31 ties Pike's hands, and Georgiou is allowed to go free.
Last time Section 31 showed up, a few episodes ago, a couple of you pointed out to me they're they shadowy Group Enterprise too, I don't they were given a name back there, but if this is the same group, they seem be at least slightly more publicly known by know, both Michael and Pike recognise the Section 31 Badge that Georgiou has, whereas in Enterprise they seemed to exist entirely outside of Starfleet's knowledge minus a few people. I kinda wanna know what caused that shift.
The Engineering team manage to confirm that Tilly isn't and indeed is in the Spore Network. Sylvia is rightfully pissed at May for bringing her here, however she is willing to listen to her out. Unfortunately she wants her to kill some sort of creature that entered the Spore Network when Discovery started making it's jumps, and is currently destroying the world of the Network.
Meanwhile on Discovery, as Georgiou leaves, Section 31 drops off an official Liaison, in the form of Ash Tyler. Pike confronts Michael about how different Georgiou is acting from how he remembers her, and that conversation gets put off, Michael and Ash have a small catch up, but nothing really happens immediately and Ash leaves to report to the Bridge.
Paul's plan to rescue Tilly is to jump Discovery into the network, essentially use the ship as a gateway between the real world world and mushroom world. There are a few risks involved, it's been previously established that the mycelium in the network eat normal matter, so the crew would only have an hour to find and extract Sylvia, and there is a risk crew members could just end up like the crew of the Glen if they're in the wrong place when the jump happens.
Pike approves of the Plan, and he gives a really good No Man Left Behind speech, and everyone gets ready to go, and the side of the ship sinks into the network, and Paul and Michael get to searching. Sylvia and May board the Discovery too, although she takes a path to the Armoury to deal with the creature, although they quickly meet up, and Tilly explains the situation
I love that the Monster remains completely unseen until just now, when we find out he is Hugh Culbur, somehow corrupted by the something. Which obviously leaves Paul in a state of conflict. He thought he lost his partner, and he's been grieving really hard since midway through last season, and now he has a chance to save him, but May is still desperate to get Sylvia and by extension the others to kill him. Honestly I was expecting the monster somehow be related to the Tartigrade, so the idea that he's Hugh was a shock, and a twist that I love, even if it's undoing the most impactful death of Season 1.
Meanwhile on the bridge, things are going bad, the Mycelium are still eating away at the Hull, and the Bridge is Starting to fall into the Network, meaning the bridge crew have less space to work. Tyler however calls in some assistance from Section 31, with hidden communicator. A section 31 ship, apparently capable of disguising itself as an asteroid appears out of nowhere, and starts physically towing Discovery out of the Network's space
This little sequence with Section 31 is beautiful, it really showcases how much further ahead they are than everyone else tech-wise.
Meanwhile, Paul trying to convince Hugh that he's real is heartbreaking, he pulls through, and Tilly convinces May to stand down. They rush back to the cube and... Heartbreakingly Hugh is unable to crossover. This scene breaks my heart. Paul had so so much hope, and it just got ripped away from him, and AAAA! I am crying. Fortunately, Sylvia manages to think of a plan to use the Cocoon that dragged her in to create a new body for Hugh on the other side. With that, Paul completes the jump out of the Network, and everything is calm. The team spend time watching the cocoon, waiting, until May fufills her side of the promise, and Hugh is saved.
After this Mission, Pike and the Section 31 leader, Leland have a conversation with the Admiral. Who, one forces them to put their differences aside and work together, and two gives us new information about the Signals. The sites with the Signals have something called Tachyon Radiation, which I'm assuming is the Star Trek equivalent of Artron energy because Leland immediately connects it's presence to Time Travel, although Pike also says could indicate a number of other things, namely Cloaking Devices and Transporters. A Mystery to think about, I can think multiple ways all three of these could be involved with whatever the Red Angels are, Spock is still the best lead.
This episode was a fun conclusion to the May and Tilly Arc, I had fun with it, the rescue mission itself was great, and seeing Section 31 in Action. I still have enough to go on to narrow down my theory on the Red Angels are, and the end of this one kinda widened up the possibilities to it could be anything now. This episode was fun!

Writing Patterns
Rules: list the first line of your last 10 (posted) fics and see if there's a pattern! Thanks @strangenewwords
Jim woke up feeling no better than he had the day before. It was only two days beyond the anniversary of the Farragut’s catastrophic encounter with the cloud creature from Tycho IV and he had not been himself for a week. - Chocolate Doughnut with Rainbow Sprinkles
2. Montgomery Scott had run out of things to do in engineering and only a few quiet gamma shifters were left, the lights dimmed as he sat on one leg, staring bleary eyed at his PADD. - Some Enchanting Linguist
3. Jim Kirk was accustomed to beating people at chess, but it wasn’t until he played against Lieutenant Spock that he found a checkmate and a handshake followed by a “goodnight, lieutenant” to be…unsatisfying. - Round 1 & Round 2
4. This is a disaster, Jim thought. - I Want to Hold Your Hand
5. “Jim!” Pike hollered from his kitchen as Jim Kirk entered the captain’s quarters.  - Bells on a Hill
6. Uhura, Christine, and McCoy were all having cocktails in the lounge when the subject of Spock’s romantic abilities came up. - Mr. Romance
7. Following a few months of aggressive flirting on the Enterprise and a drunkenly dialed video message that Spock would like to have melded himself into forgetting if it were possible, a date on Starbase Seven for Spock and Jim had finally been scheduled and was, in fact, imminent. - Get Some
8. Jim Kirk could not quite believe what he had just seen. - The Drunk Dial
9. It was the fourth day in a row that Jim had skipped breakfast in the mess, and Spock remarked on this to Lieutenant Uhura and Nurse Chapel as he ate a bowl of seasoned lentils and egg substitute. - The Orchids of ShiKahr
10. “Spock’s been weird,” Jim said.  - Bare Your Faces of the Veil
Jim opening up with a pithy expression of a problem might be a pattern lol??

I'm still in the process of caramelizing this thought (under 12 hours in the ol' brain) so like it might be undercooked as the metaphor goes, but when Kirk caught the virus in The Naked Time, he went into his rant about love vs duty and how the ship takes both his life and his love from him due to that overbearing sense of duty he lives by. (Which still drives me nuts to think about! Spock burdens himself by trying to be 100% Vulcan to the expense of his humanity (that he still can't completely suppress!), and Kirk bludgeons himself through duty, keeping his personal feelings/desires/love tampered and locked down as a result! The willful repression of it all!! I am so so so not normal about characters struggling with repression!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But later by The Balance of Terror, Kirk starts breaking down at the stress of keeping his entire crew alive while close to the Neutral Zone between Earth's Asteroid Outposts and the Romulan Empire. Any action taken in this area could signal death if not a renewed war between Earth and Romulus, making the Enterprise's moves that much larger than just one individual ship, and making Kirk's actions hold more weight than just the lives of the Enterprise.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I realize a lot of this comes from the original pilot and the characterization of Captain Pike as he also expressed the same fears and the same desires to walk away from these duties entirely. It's no secret that character elements were reused for the second pilot and series proper (the "I will kill myself and everyone else to avoid anyone getting trapped, especially the Captain" attitude of Number One is definitely something given to Spock for the rest of the series. Call it duty or devotion or love (or all 3 at the same time), it's all there in both characters).
Only for Kirk to find his mirror in the Romulan Commander!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now fine, maybe the Romulan Commander says "creatures of duty" to refer to the Romulans in general, and I'm just making a mountain out of a few phrases (as per usual). It makes sense: they're an offshoot of Vulcans, and it would follow that both species are bound to a strong sense of duty no matter the cost. But! If that was the case, why have the Commander tell Kirk they are alike before this line? Or spend the episode highlighting their similar tactics and planning? Or include the line, "In a different reality, I could've called you 'friend.'" (Which. If the designation of "friend" is a huge deal to Vulcans when it comes to species outside of their kind..... Is James Kirk the equivalent of catnip for Vulcans and Romulans alike? Half joke, half asking in earnest here / the reality is that Kirk probably does attract their respect and more because he is so terrifyingly duty-bound in such a way that sets him apart from other humans.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like. I don't know if I'm necessarily correct in thinking it (because I know Spock is used to show humanity from the outsider's perspective/make the viewer ask what makes one human), but sometimes Kirk seems more Vulcan than Spock as Spock seems more human than Kirk, which maybe works after all. If one can find the humanity in an alien, why not also see the alien in humanity?

Hiya, have some episode 8 (What Are Little Girls Made Of) of Star Trek TOS thoughts:
- I dunno this sounds like… A TRAP! (I never thought I’d actually quote Star Wars and I’m quite frankly ashamed of myself)
- The most terrifying thing of all.. A DRAMA STUDENT (I am referring to Brown)
- wait- who? Who was that? No no go back why’d he sneak away like that? stop sneaking around you creepy ass fu- oh he killed a redshirt
- okay but Browns fit is kinda slaying (I’m a drama student)
- why does Brown kinda sound like the bad guy from cloudy with a chance of meatballs 2
- Kirk is so fucking dramatic.. bbygirl you did not need to roll out of danger
- HE GOT YOINKED!
- damned outpost scientists
- what in the German expressionism is this creature
- please don’t tell me Andrea is an android t- oh she admitted to it
- “do you think I could love a machine?” “Did you?” CHRISTINE IS NOT HAPPY
- sooo Korby is an android, ain’t he?
- Spain without the a
- why don’t they bring this machine back into the new series? It spins and it’s funny (put it in lower decks or smt)
- Kirk clone count: 2
- what in the blocky play mobile kind of food is that
- okay I love chapel “I’d rather you push me off the same precipice that the crewman fell from”
- why do I always like the science officers (my best friend is a biomed student so that may explain it…)
- Kirk is holding a dick rock… thank you for coming to my ted talk
- goddamn those boots are slutty
- DONT YELL AT SPOCK (he knows his boyfriend would never)
- I have a feeling Kirk just really hated Ruk
- I like that both the science officers have to go through the “my loved one died and now has been cloned” trauma
- I’d like to see something where the person grieving their loved one makes a robot of them and is originally just happy with the pieces that they’ve gathered of this person… but then it goes horribly wrong
- POOR NURSE CHAPEL HOLY SHIT
- like imagine seeing the person you love again only for it to be a pale imitation that could only want to be as passionate or loving or caring as the person you knew and then for the last image of them you see is them kissing another woman
- SPOCK SMILING AT KIRK! I REPEAT SPOCK IS SMILING AT KIRK
Okie dokie that’s pretty much it. Really love Christine Chapel now so…
I don’t think I remember episode 7 (Mudd’s Women) enough to have anything to say about it. I disliked the episode, if I ever have reason to watch it again I’ll maybe write something but for now I’m skipping it. Thanks :)

Has there ever been a vampire story in Star Trek? Because it occurred to me just how interesting an episode that would be.
Picture, the Starfleet vessel is in uncharted space. Everything seems to be going well, exploration as usual, until Odd Things start to crop up. Noises in the middle of the night, things moved or seemingly missing, a few crewmen swear they could feel something watching them.
The ship is searched, prow to stern, and they find nothing.
Turns out the ship has been infiltrated by a highly evolved predator species. One that just so happens to feed on iron-based blood and one who jumped at the chance to sneak aboard. Perhaps it can camouflage itself so well it can hide even from bioscans and tricorders, not sure, either way its terrifyingly stealthy.
Anywho, the episode follows the ship's Vulcan officer, the one whose blood the creature does not find edible, trying to figure out what's happening as crew start to find odd little bite marks on their necks and wrists after a night's sleep that did seemingly nothing to energise them. Of course, the crew immediately start to joke about how the ship must have been secretly renamed The Demeter before they set off. A few of them check the cargo hold for boxes of suspicious dirt. Just in case.
Its all vaguely amusing and somewhat unnerving until the first crewmember is found dead, completely drained of blood, and everyone goes from nervous to panicky because the similarities are building up way too much to be the usual Space Bullshit.
Imagine this as TOS so you too may be graced with the mental image of Jim cradled in the arms of a beautiful, if clearly alien, creature covered in the Captain's own blood, with Spock prepared to defend his t'hy'la with a phaser and a stake whittled from the table leg of the rec room's only real wooden bit of furniture.

~ All Hope Is Lost ~
"Get me the next ones!"
Montgomery Scott's heart almost jumped out of his chest when he heard the words. He knew that it would mean the end for many members of the crew. And perhaps for him too.
When the Enterprise had been attacked, crashed on the enemy planet and its crew captured by Krall and his henchmen, no one had realized just how bad it would end for them.
They had been locked up and one by one some of them had been taken away.
To where? None of them knew. They only knew that none of them ever came back. The last thing they heard from their comrades were pain-filled screams.
"No, let go of me! Please let go of me!"
The desperate shriek of one of his female engineers caught Scotty's attention.
Ensign Maria Stanson. A brilliant young lady in whom he had always had high hopes.
A big alien guy was pulling her roughly by the hair. When she tried to fight back, he slapped her hard across the face.
"Oi! Get yer filthy hands off her!"
Scotty couldn't and wouldn't hold back. He just wanted to beat up these monsters.
The alien's eyes met his and only a moment later Stanson was free and the cell in which the Scotsman was sitting was opened.
He took his chance immediately and lunged at the guy, who was probably far too strong, punching him in the face.
These bastards had friends of his on their conscience. What's more, they had destroyed his beautiful ship. If he could harm even one of these creatures, he would gladly do so.
Even if it wasn't good for his own health.
His counterpart grabbed his wrist as Scotty tried to strike again and only a second later a terrible cracking sound announced that the bones were broken.
The chief engineer gritted his teeth and tried his best not to scream out loud. He would not show any weakness now!
"Mr. Scott!"
He saw how a lot of the crew members stared at him with wide eyes in shock before the alien pulled him along.
"Keep fighting those bastards! Don't let them get ye down! Wait for the captain!"
If it was the last time he saw the crew, he wanted to give them hope at least once more. They would make it. At least some of them would.
He thought of Keenser. He hoped so much that the wee man would survive. He had always been such a good friend to him, even though they had often clashed.
He thought of Sulu and Uhura. They had been captured too, but he hadn't seen them for days. He just hoped they were all right.
Spock and the captain and Chekov. They had all escaped somehow, hadn't been captured. And Scotty believed that they were working on a plan to rescue the crew at this very moment. A Vulcan, a strong-willed young man and a Wunderkind - what could possibly go wrong?
Especially when they were supported by the most wonderful and intelligent doctor in the entire fleet.
Yes, Dr. McCoy had not been captured either. He was still out there somewhere and would try to save everyone.
Scotty swallowed hard at the thought of the doctor. He just wanted to see him again, wanted to have a drink with him and talk to him for hours.
Why had he never told him how he felt? Why had he never told the doctor how much he appreciated him and how much he wished there was more between them than friendship?
No. He would tell him. He would get his chance. For sure.
His captor took him to a strange room where two other crew members were standing.
Scotty's eyes widened. It was Lt. Hendorff and Nurse Chapel. Both were tied up with lots of cables and wires connected to a strange looking machine.
Scotty wheeled around when he heard the voice of the man responsible for all this.
Krall. That was the name he had used to introduce himself to his prisoners.
He was talking to his partner in a language the Scotsman didn't understand. Judging by the expression on his face, he was probably annoyed that it had taken a little longer.
"Lt. Commander Scott."
Scotty narrowed his eyes in irritation when Krall switched languages and addressed him directly.
He stretched his back and looked defiantly at Krall.
"Aye. That's me."
Even if he had no idea how his counterpart knew that.
"You know the ship best. So where is it? Where is the artifact?"
For a moment, Scotty had no idea what Krall was talking about, but then he remembered the Enterprise's last mission.
The strange object that Jim had brought with him. But... what was so special about it?
"I haven't the faintest idea. But I can tell ye one thing, even if I did know, I certainly wouldn't tell ye."
Scotty put all the hatred he felt at that moment into his gaze. He wanted Krall to know how much he loathed him.
For a while they just stared at each other, before Krall nodded and gestured to the cables.
His partner pushed Scotty forward roughly and only a short time later the engineer was as bound as Hendorff and Chapel. Both made unintelligible noises, gagged by the cables.
"The captain will come. He'll get us out of here."
Krall's cool laugh caused Scotty's gaze to wander back to him. The man who had just been whispering with his partner stood close in front of him, gripping some cables with his hand.
"Too late, Scott. My subjects have found him and the rest of your friends. They've just informed me of this. It's over."
Scotty's eyes widened and he shook his head.
No... no. That was... impossible. Jim was too clever. He would never let himself be caught. And neither would the others.
Krall put the cables around Scotty's mouth and gagged him in the same fashion as the others.
But the Scotsman didn't give up. He moved back and forth, trying to free himself somehow.
He would not give up. He would never surrender!
But one look into Krall's eyes told him that it was over. He was helpless. There was nothing he could do.
Then he heard voices approaching. They came closer and closer. And suddenly they were standing there.
Spock, Chekov, Kirk... and McCoy.
Tears filled Scotty's eyes at the sight of his friends. His family.
So it really was true. It was... over. They had lost.
"What the- let them go! Let my people go. Right now!"
It didn't matter what the captain said. Krall wouldn't listen to him.
"Where's the artifact, Kirk?"
Scotty knew. He knew Jim had hidden it. He knew Jim would protect it.
But the Scotsman would never hear the man's answer.
When Krall activated the machine and he felt all the life being sucked out of him, his eyes were fixed on McCoy, who watched in shock as his friends slowly and agonizingly died.
He would tell him the truth. In another life. For sure.

second funniest thing the writers ever did to spock was confirming across multiple episodes that he is not immune to picking up and holding small furry little Creatures who just want to Love Him
