Quotes
Ivo Gerscovich, Sonic chief brand officer at SEGA of America:
"At Sega, we strive to create memorable experiences with our licensing partners that fans will cherish for years to come. The Lego Group is the leader in play, and the perfect partner to bring exciting stories, iconic characters and environments from the Sonic universe to life in fans’ living rooms globally. Through our creative collaboration with the Lego Group, Sonic fans of all generations can use their imaginations to play out their favourite Sonic moments, and we can’t wait to see their awesome creations."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Frédéric Roland Andre, LEGO Group designer:
"It really isn’t like anything else: the sets offer an entirely new, action-packed play experience. I’m especially proud of the Speed Sphere, as it was quite a challenge to figure out how we would get Sonic to speed up and interact with each course. Sonic is known for his speed and how he runs and jumps through courses, so for Lego sets inspired by him there was no way we could create a static set, we simply had to be creative and make them as action-packed as possible."
The sets are scheduled to hit retail and digital storefronts on 1 August 2023.

A comprehensive summary of the chaos that was the Netflix Cup:
- as the drivers/golfers walk onto the course a woman and a man are apprehended (by one of the hosts(?)) as they are waving posters and screaming something. lando was unbothered by this.
- everyone was introduced except alex for some reason
- the “speed” hole
- mark wahlberg is there. his daughter is interviewed and she reveals her favorite driver is lando. lando is once again unbothered by this.
- lando picking up his ball and being disqualified from the hole
- the golfers BOOKING IT and the hosts having shocked reactions to this feat (“who says golfers aren’t athletic!”)
- justin thomas to carlos “what did [host] say?” carlos “he said i’m pretty”
- random cuts to prerecorded nonsense
- the sphere being referred to solely as the egg
- the hosts making fun of the golfers and the golfers making fun back (very interesting i would not expect this level of sass from golf)
- pierre reveals he is a passenger princess “I don’t actually drive on the roads. i don’t like it.”
- shots of lando and carlos playing but pierre and alex are hot-mic’ed ???
- asmr whispering from one of the hosts telling zak brown she has to pee
- no one can hear each other
- zak brown can’t figure out his mic and it’s making so much noise you can’t hear anything else
- “mr. maximus homa this is joel damon, can you hear me?” “unfortunately, i can yes, joel.”
- max homa making fun of joel damon for a solid minute and then saying about alex “yo my partner is dialed, that’s the money” unhinged behavior
- host (same bodyguard from before - burt kreischer(?)) cannot express how excited he is to have steve aoki ask for his #
- not one host can pronounce sainz correctly
- “that’s sniffing my ball speed there” “ok joel”
- marshawn lynch “these golfers boutta get they happy gilmore on”
- squid game CHALLENGE HOLE(???) burt kreischer “are they gonna kill me or break out into dance? who knows but they are creepy as shit”
- burt yet again “i will piss myself on live television for $4.56 million. i’ve done it for less”
- the mystical steve aoki has appeared
- the (infamous) Albon Tumble™
- pierre aiming directly into the crowd and alex and max applauding him (kudos to finau for reassuring pierre afterwards that everyone is fine)
- a conversation: “smooth operator, is that your nickname?” “yes that’s what they call me” “how’d that happen?” “i sang it once after a race”
- marshawn lynch “i met the squid game people. you got triangle face, square cuz and circle head”
- alex announcing that the squid game doll looks like Lily. alex i will hunt you down (endearing)
- patrick mahomes phoned in to tell pierre the exact amount of coors lights’ he must drink to play golf effectively (i am not kidding)
- joel objectifying tony finau by commenting (in detail) about his arms and hands (i know what you are joel)
- “a sexy street circuit here in vegas” ma’am it looks like a pig what are you talking about
- carlos and justin won. burt wants to party like it’s new year’s eve. i would pay to see this
and thus wraps the (somewhat) comprehensive review ! maybe next year netflix will make it less of a shit show but honestly, iconic.

I love seeing all the gripes about booktubers and YA authors on here as someone who works in publishing. A lot of the problem from these two spheres has to do with the fact that publishing, especially YA, is suffering right now. There was a boom in YA around a decade ago wherein we saw many YA novels and series received live action adaptions as TV series and movies. This was when YA books were the most profitable for authors. This was a relatively new genre-demographic (technically a demographic, but because there are stylistic and thematic similarities that are consistent across all genres of YA fiction, I will call it a "genre-demographic," "G-D" for short), and publishers were willing to take risks on acquiring more titles because they were valuing quantity over quality. They wanted to fill up shelves with YA novels as quickly as possible. However, this was a problem because they created an entirely new G-D based on a trend. The thematic and stylistic simplicities that were previously overlooked in YA became more well-known. YA began to lose popularity among the masses, and the oversaturation of the market has resulted in increasing competition among YA authors and more YA authors trying to branch out into other realms that will sell better, like "adult" books and middle grade.
Initially, YA was mostly read and purchased by/for teenagers, the intended target demographic. Then, these teenagers grow up, but their tastes did not. Most YA readers are women 26 years old and up. Publishers know this. The readers know this. Yet, the YA readers on book twitter and booktubers continue to push for changes in these books to better suit their needs as they age (slightly older/college aged protagonists, more sex scenes [unless they're sex scenes they don't like], more mature themes [as long as their authors properly prostrates themselves to the readers, of course], etc). They think of YA books as their safe place they can use to mindlessly consume, consume, consume, and anything more complex than an episode of Buffy threatens this veneer of control. The result is YA author Twitter drama.
Even though all the authors are adults (also: most of their customers are adults, and an increasing amount of teenagers have begun skipping over YA alltogether and reading books for adults), they will fall back into purity culture and use "think of the children" which necessitates we prioritize the metaphorical innocence of the child (read: the adult YA enjoyer) over art, which unfortunately results in the consumer-led sanitization of the G-D. The YA readers are doing this for typical anti-esque reasons: control, moral postering, etc. The YA authors are taking part for two primary reasons: 1) they want to appeal to their consumer-base and the author-as-internet-personality-for-marketing demands this, and 2) they are eliminating their competition. The authors are using purity culture to demonize their fellow authors and victimize themselves. This is what led to the redefining of OwnVoices. It went from being a simple hashtag to help authors get more eyes on their work to being a requirement of YA authors, lest they want to risk persecution from their peers and customers. Publishers are aware of this but do not do much to combat this because it’s free marketing for them, and they don’t want to alienate the only people who spend money in that G-D. Publishers use people like me to follow YA authors and YA consumers on socials to keep track of their comments, as well as how they review books—assuming they actually read the books at all, which we know many do not. This has led to more book hauls are speed reading challenges among reviewers and booktubers, but that’s another thing for another time.
This is the last thing I’ll say before I go. This briefly cut into the mainstream consciousness last year. Book twitter drama (think Isabel Fall, Amélie Wen Zhao-Kosoko Jackson, Sarah Underwood, etc) is outrageous and insipid, but it seldom gets on the radar of those outside these circles. Last year Barnes and noble announced publicly they wouldn’t stock hardbacks of new books, something that was already in practice, to be honest. Cue disgruntled YA authors screeches. This wasn’t an issue and was very understandable. Paperbacks sell more. Hardbacks are larger, more expensive for buyers, and more time-consuming to produce. publishers were notified of this change over a year in advance. None of the authors with upcoming books would be affected because their publishers already knew to print paperbacks, unless their publisher decided to ignore B&N’s warning. People in publishing knew this, but the public did not. YA authors fell back into self-victimization mode and guilt tripping to strategically sell more copies of their books. However, publishers and agents alike noticed this, and some authors were punished behind the scenes. Those same authors then went on Twitter after the fact to target more of their peers in hopes of selling more books. [There are other factors influencing their behaviors, of course, but this ask is long enough.]
That’s all it is, really: YA authors are people in a failing G-D within a failing industry where they constantly need to eliminate their competition and compete to see who’s more moral than the next in hopes of selling books because their publishers don’t market them and give poor advances. YA readers in book twitter/booktubers are functionally conservative anti-intellectuals. (YA authors are also anti-intellectuals if it means they believe they'll sell more books. See the plethora of pathetic Twitter threads around back to school season: "The classics are all boring and bad and spread x ideas. School libraries should purchase more YA. Students should read more YA in class instead, like my book.") If you’re following any of them, please consider stopping for your own sanity. If you see them make or signal boost call out posts, always be skeptical because every other professional with repute around them already is.
--
Back in my teen years in the 90s, the term 'young adult' existed, but the only books I remember seeing were a few Judy Blume titles about realistic teen problems or something. I went straight from kids' books to plain old genre fiction for adults. It's amusing to hear that current teens are going back to that.
A lot of YA boom fallout feels to me like every other time something was a brief blip but a brief blip just as a person came of age: they spend forever waiting for "the normal status quo" to reassert itself and wondering why it does not.

WHAT IS A QUANTUM COMPUTER??
Blog#313
Wednesday, July 12th, 2023
Welcome back,
It’s fascinating to think about the power in our pocket—today’s smartphones have the computing power of a military computer from 50 years ago that was the size of an entire room. However, even with the phenomenal strides we made in technology and classical computers since the onset of the computer revolution, there remain problems that classical computers just can’t solve. Many believe quantum computers are the answer.
Tumblr media
Now that we have made the switching and memory units of computers, known as transistors, almost as small as an atom, we need to find an entirely new way of thinking about and building computers. Even though a classical computer helps us do many amazing things, “under the hood” it’s really just a calculator that uses a sequence of bits—values of 0 and 1 to represent two states (think on and off switch) to makes sense of and decisions about the data we input following a prearranged set of instructions.
Tumblr media
Quantum computers are not intended to replace classical computers, they are expected to be a different tool we will use to solve complex problems that are beyond the capabilities of a classical computer.
Basically, as we are entering a big data world in which the information we need to store grows, there is a need for more ones and zeros and transistors to process it. For the most part classical computers are limited to doing one thing at a time, so the more complex the problem, the longer it takes.
Tumblr media
A problem that requires more power and time than today’s computers can accommodate is called an intractable problem. These are the problems that quantum computers are predicted to solve.
When you enter the world of atomic and subatomic particles, things begin to behave in unexpected ways. In fact, these particles can exist in more than one state at a time. It’s this ability that quantum computers take advantage of.
Tumblr media
Instead of bits, which conventional computers use, a quantum computer uses quantum bits—known as qubits. To illustrate the difference, imagine a sphere. A bit can be at either of the two poles of the sphere, but a qubit can exist at any point on the sphere. So, this means that a computer using qubits can store an enormous amount of information and uses less energy doing so than a classical computer.
Tumblr media
By entering into this quantum area of computing where the traditional laws of physics no longer apply, we will be able to create processors that are significantly faster (a million or more times) than the ones we use today. Sounds fantastic, but the challenge is that quantum computing is also incredibly complex.
The pressure is on the computer industry to find ways to make computing more efficient, since we reached the limits of energy efficiency using classical methods. By 2040, according to a report by the Semiconductor Industry Association, we will no longer have the capability to power all of the machines around the world.
Tumblr media
That’s precisely why the computer industry is racing to make quantum computers work on a commercial scale. No small feat, but one that will pay extraordinary dividends.

“Dogday says . . . Fetch!”
Roxie watched their friend toss the rubber ball, the ball going well over their head and beyond.
“Go! Go! As far as you can!”
They giggled and made a run for it, their arms full of the trash they had gathered earlier. They had big projects, you see. Big, big projects! Bigger than you could imagine!
Their little legs moved as fast as they could, following the path the ball had taken. The weight in their arms slowed them down, but that didn’t deter them at all!
They ran and ran, the scraps they carried slowly started to fall from their grasp, but they did not look back or slow down to pick them up. They were on a mission! That was Dogday’s favorite ball, they couldn't just leave it!
Roxie’s eyes zeroed on the small, yellow, rubber ball on the ground.
They gasped for air, they haven’t run like that in a while! Not since Hoppy challenged the whole crew into a speeding contest. She won, of course, but they didn’t do bad at all either!
Roxie let go of the remaining objects in their arms, making a beeline towards the yellow ball.
Roxie wrapped their fingers around the sphere, and stared at it longingly.
Roxie looked back, looked back at the path they took. They tried their best to see beyond the red on the walls and floor, the red in the ceiling and air.
Red red red.
Roxie turned their vision to the small pile they managed to bring with them, and gently took a small cardboard cutout.
A cardboard cutout that had their best friend in it. A cardboard cutout that had a big red button to press.
Roxie pressed the button, cradling the object in their arms.
“Dogday says . . . Fetch!”
It said.
“Go! Go! As fast as you can!”
It said.
Roxie let out a bitter laugh, and hung their head low.
They were so. Tired.
So, so tired.

Lloigor
Another Call of Cthulhu monster!
~
Lloigor
Tumblr media
 Art by Christopher Burdett!
Your foe –unseen until now – warps space and bends light as a horrible form appears. At a glance, you could mistake it for a dragon. But it has too many eyes and limbs, and its mouth distends like its body is a sheath of reptilian skin.
In its most common form, a lloigor is invisible to conventional senses. Lloigors must alter their geometry to manipulate physical objects; in our visual spectrum, this condensed form resembles a grotesque pastiche of a dragon. Besides a similar shape, comparable strength, and humanoid-enslaving tendencies, these interstellar horrors have nothing in common with dragons.
Upon outgrowing (read: dominating and desiccating) their distant home sphere, the lloigors’ creator-god (also named Lloigor) taught its children the secrets of space travel. Since leaving home, the lloigors spread violent atrocities, empires based on fear and sacrifice, and countless people reshaped as wretched works of flesh-based art. A few great mages – of races that far predate modern humanoids – managed to craft symbols that drive away the lloigor scourge, symbols transmuted and cheapened over time into common glyph-based spells.
However, the lloigors did not realize their folly until they enjoyed several millennia of colonizing other planets. A connection to their deity and homeland was the source of their terrifying psychic prowess; ever since spreading across the universe, the lloigors’ powers were weakening. Only by consuming intelligent minds can lloigors recapture a fraction of their terrible power. After numerous rebellions, the humiliated lloigors retreated to the shadows and caverns of various worlds.

Innate Spellcasting. The lloigor's innate spellcasting ability is Intelligence (spell save DC 17, +9 to hit with spell attacks). It can innately cast the following spells, requiring no components. However, it does need to expend Leeched Mental Energy (LME, from here on). Assume any lloigor has 4d6 stored LME at the start of an encounter.
Free Spells: gust, mage hand (hand is invisible), mind sliver (3d6) 2-point Spells: catapult 3-point Spells: detect thoughts, dissonant whispers (level 2), gust of wind, mind spike, misty step 5-point Spells: fireball, sending, slow, wind wall 6-point Spells: confusion, dimension door, polymorph, Raulothim's psychic lance 7-point Spells: Bigby’s hand (hand is invisible), control winds, create spelljamming helm, telekinesis
Bound by the Signs. Certain timeless sigils can repel the lloigor and its depraved magicks.
If a lloigor damages any creature protected by warding bond, the lloigor takes the caster’s share of the damage.
The lloigor takes maximum damage from glyph of warding.
Death ward heals all effects (except damage) from the lloigor’s fleshwarping – even regenerating severed limbs.
A lloigor can’t even attempt to enter any area protected by guards and wards, even by teleportation.
Deadly Pessimism. Lloigors’ minds are endless wells of hatred and pessimism – too much for even the most spiteful mortal mind-reader to bear. Any creature that tries to read a lloigor’s thoughts is subject to a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw.
Success: The mind-reader escapes the abyss of the lloigor’s thoughts with nothing but a searing headache. For 1 minute, the mind-reader rolls Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma checks with disadvantage since it hurts to concentrate.
Failure: The mind-reader is afflicted with short-term madness.
Failure by 10 or More: The mind-reader is afflicted with long-term madness.
Critical Failure: The mind-reader dies.
Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If the lloigor fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.
Star-Treader. The lloigor doesn’t need to breathe, and it can shrug off extreme cold (included in stat block).
Actions
Multiattack. In its reptilian form, the lloigor makes one Bite attack and two Claw attacks. The lloigor has no physical attack options in vortex form.
Bite (Reptilian Form only). Melee Attack: +10 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 12 (1d12 + 6) piercing damage.
Claw (Reptilian Form only). Melee Attack: +10 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 10 (1d8 + 6) slashing damage.
Fleshwarp (Recharge 5-6). In reptilian form, the lloigor must touch its target. A lloigor in vortex form can attempt to warp any target within 60 ft. Targets make a DC 16 Constitution save as their own bodies twist and rebel. On a failure, the target takes 8d10 necrotic damage, and one of their features are bent to the lloigor’s whims – a limb, torso, neck, head shape, or facial feature. On a success, the target takes half damage, and no transformation occurs. On a critical failure, the lloigor gains enough control over the flesh to exact one of their favorite punishments: shriveling limbs. The target loses the use of an arm or leg (DM’s choice).
Reversing the lloigor’s fleshwarping requires casting remove curse or greater restoration at level 6 – or, curiously, a regular 4th-level casting of death ward.
Bonus Actions
Condense/Refract. The lloigor changes between Vortex and Reptilian form. If a lloigor changes into its reptilian form thirty feet or more off the ground, it is subject to fall damage.
Reactions
Feed on Anguish. When a lloigor deals damage to another creature, the lloigor can use its reaction to regain 1d4 LME.
Legendary Actions
The lloigor can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The lloigor regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.
Attack. The lloigor makes one Bite or two Claw attacks.
Cast a Spell (Costs 3 Actions). The lloigor casts one of its spells, using the normal amount of LME.
Recalculate. The lloigor attempts to recharge its Fleshwarp ability.
Lair Actions
On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), the lloigor can take one of the following lair actions; the lloigor can't take the same lair action two rounds in a row:
Psychic Vampirism. The lloigor targets a random sleeping humanoid within 6 miles of its lair. The target loses 1d4 Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma (lloigor’s choice), and the lloigor gains an equal amount of LME. The target suffers a level of exhaustion all the next day, but another long rest will cure both the exhaustion and the ability loss. The target only dies if the ability damage reduces that ability to 0.
Summon Prey. The lloigor chooses any living mortal creature in the universe. The target makes a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw. On a success, the target is summoned to a random point within 1 mile of the lloigor. On a failure, the prey is teleported within 100 feet of the lloigor.
Warp Time. The lloigor must also spend the rest of its stored LME to use this lair action. Every creature in the lair must reroll initiative. The lloigor can choose not to reroll.
Regional Effects
The region surrounding a lloigor's lair is altered by the lloigor's magic, creating one or more of the following effects:
For 6 miles around the lloigor’s lair, people tend to act uncharacteristically dour and negative.
Long-term exposure to the lloigor’s presence stains water and stone a jade tint. This jade stain is only visible if the lloigor’s been around for over a year, and the unnatural color is more noticeable as you approach the lair. Although a gorgeous color, looking at these lloigor-changed features instills nausea, as if the earth itself is warning you to turn back.
The lloigor practices its fleshwarping on local wildlife. Many beasts within 6 miles of the lair bear grotesque mutations.
If the lloigor dies, the mood-altering effect vanishes immediately. The other effects are, unfortunately, permanent.
~
DESIGN NOTES
I know in RAW you can’t cast remove curse or greater restoration at higher levels – but why not? I don’t think you should be able to remove a high-level monster’s debilitating curse with a level 3 spell in every healer’s back pocket.

SIGNIFICANCE OF SATURN IN A NATAL CHART
Saturn is one of the most important planets in Vedic astrology. It is the planet of karma, justice, discipline, and order. It also represents the challenges, limitations, and delays that we face in our life. Saturn teaches us the value of hard work, patience, and perseverance. It is the planet that helps us grow spiritually and mature as a person.
Saturn’s behavior with other planets depends on its placement, aspect, and conjunction in the birth chart. Saturn can be friendly, neutral, or hostile to different planets. According to Vedic astrology, Saturn is friendly with Mercury and Venus, neutral with Jupiter and Mars, and hostile with Sun and Moon. Saturn’s friendship or enmity with other planets affects its influence on the native’s life.
Saturn is a solitary planet that likes to be alone. It is not very friendly or sociable. It prefers to work in isolation and focus on its goals. Saturn does not like distractions or frivolities. It is a serious and sober planet that values responsibility and duty. Saturn can make the native introverted, reserved, and detached from others.
However, Saturn can also give positive results when it is well placed and aspected by benefic planets. Saturn can bestow wisdom, longevity, fame, wealth, and authority to the native. Saturn can also make the native humble, compassionate, and charitable. Saturn can help the native overcome obstacles and achieve success through hard work and dedication.
Saturn’s influence on the native’s life can be seen through its various periods and transits. The most significant period of Saturn is the Sade Sati or the seven and a half years of Saturn.
This is the time when Saturn transits over the natal Moon and the two signs before and after it. This period can bring major changes, challenges, and difficulties in the native’s life. The native may face problems related to health, career, relationships, finances, and mental peace. The native may also have to face the consequences of their past actions and learn from their mistakes.
The Sade Sati period can also be a time of transformation and growth for the native. The native may develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their purpose in life. The native may also gain spiritual insight and enlightenment. The native may become more detached from worldly attachments and more devoted to God.
The mahadasha, antardasha and pratiantardasha periods also have their importance and they give results as per their significance as per that horoscope ( as per KP Vedic astrology system ), be it positive or negative according to that horoscope.
Very technically speaking as per KP Vedic astrology, when Saturn is in conjunction or aspecting other planet then it will also give the results of its significances during the activation period of that planet in conjunction or aspect.
Saturn is a speed breaker and always like to have slow and steady growth which later on comes out to be a stronger one, but people don’t realize that and wants everything fast.
Saturn conjunction with moon or in aspect or in each other’s nakshatra, gives rise to punarphoo yoga which creates hurdles and delays in major events of life and thus gives frustration to the native. It doesn’t give job satisfaction and creates challenges in life in many spheres.
In a nutshell Saturn gives good as well as bad results and it depends from horoscope as per the placements of Saturn in that horoscope and its significances.

It's Fictional Throwdown Friday!
This Week's Fighters...
Delsin Rowe vs Cole MacGrath!
Conditions:
No Restrictions. Delsin starts with Concrete. Good Karma versions of both.
Scenario:
While experimenting with his powers one day, Cole rediscovers the time travel technique Kessler had invented, accidentally sending himself forward in time to Seattle. Meeting Delsin Rowe, Cole asks him to go back in time to help him defeat The Beast. Delsin says he'll agree if Cole lets Delsin copy his powers. Cole finds this suspicious and challenges Delsin to a sparing match to see if he's worth the potential trouble.
Analysis: Cole
Many years in the future, human civilization would meet its grim end at the hands of a monster known only as The Beast. Humanity’s last survivor, a man calling himself Kessler, would use his fantastical powers to travel back in time and prevent the apocalypse. Taking over a secret society called the First Sons, Kessler would use their research to amplify the powers of Conduits, humans with special powers, with an explosive device called the Ray Sphere. Setting the Ray Sphere in the middle of Empire City, one man would survive it’s blast and go one to become the world’s savior. The name of that survivor, of the man who would slay The Beast, is Cole MacGrath.
Even before awakening his extraordinary powers, Cole MacGrath was an impressive young man. A parkour prodigy, Cole has the streets, rooftops, and sewer systems of both Empire City and New Marias memorized like the back of his hand, even capable of outrunning police with his skills. He was an incredibly intelligent man as well, smart enough that his parents can easily pass him off as a teacher. He was a straight-A student during his four years of college prep, only dropping out when one of his professors began tormenting his friend Zeke. But, after the blast, he became something more…
Now gifted with extraordinary electric abilities, Cole became a living battery, capable of absorbing and manipulating electricity to an extraordinary degree. With his newfound powers, he can create a wide variety of bolts, missiles, grenades, and blades out of his electric powers, ranging from homing missiles to sticky grenades. He can also create Arc Restraints, electric chains designed to pin his opponents down.
In regards to his defensive abilities, Cole has a huge moveset to draw from. He can create shields that convert bullets into energy for him to absorb, glide through the air and telekinetically throw heavy objects by manipulating magnetism, regenerate from being riddled with projectiles, can fully heal himself and restore his stamina by absorbing electricity, and even restart his heart to come back from the dead.
This wide variety of powers is only scratching the surface of what Cole can do, which comes as a result of how his powers work. See, Cole can develop new powers in a wide variety of ways, such as by absorbing large quantities of energy, or even just by using his powers in creative ways during a fight. Throw these methods, he has developed and mastered both the above powers as well as the following ones. He can:
Create thunderstorms.
Throw tornados.
Drain electricity from storms.
Absorb ions from killed opponents to enhance his powers.
Amplify his speed immensely via Precision, causing foes who were previously only a blur in his view to move in slow motion.
Give himself unlimited energy and stamina briefly via Karmic Overload.
Heal crippling wounds with his healing pulse, an electric zap that amplifies the body’s natural healing abilities.
Can see visions upon getting new powers, teaching him how to use them.
Can see how a person was killed by touching their corpse, as well as see a path leading to their killer.
And suck the bio-electricity from a person’s body with bio-leech, a technique that requires he grip their face.
Can create electric grappling hooks.
And many, many more.
Of particular note is his Radar Sense, a sixth sense that operates independently of his other senses in an omnidirectional way, allowing him to see electrical sources, people included, as well as outline those with hostile intent towards him in red.
Keep in mind, these are all just his electricity powers. Upon reaching New Marias, Cole was able to use a device to transfer some of Lucy Kuo’s powers into himself, after which he gains additional ice based powers, allowing him to create ice missile, ice grenades, and ice spikes roughly the size of buildings, even using his ice powers to launch him skyward to create distance from his opponent.
Speaking of distance, he’s probably going to need it, as he isn’t a great melee fighter. He’s a skilled user of the Amp, yes, and he can hurt people as strong as he is, but he lacks any kind of martial arts training. Cole is a ranged fighter through and through. Thankfully, Cole has a wide variety of resistances to aide him against anyone who manages to get in close. Cole has repeatedly shrugged off ice and fire attacks, taking no damage when getting ragdolled by The Beast, who is a giant monster made of magma. He has successfully endured Sasha’s mind control, which was powerful enough to take control of all of Empire City even while weakened. He has survived being doused with acids and resisted being ripped apart by The Beast’s Black Holes, which break down and absorb matter on an atomic level. He, like all Conduits, are resistant to most forms of radiation and all forms of disease, including the Plague that would’ve wiped out the human race had it not been stopped. His powers can even ignore the resistances of others, such as where Cole killed Kessler and David Warner, two people who can absorb electricity on contact, with his electric attacks.
Even with all this though, he does have one major weakness: water. Large quantities of water will short circuit is body, killing him in a way he likely can't resurrect from. Even standing in neck deep water for 30 seconds will kill him, being able to withstand being drenched only for brief periods of time. Furthermore, cutting out the electricity in the areas around him will make him nauseous and give him a headache and he can’t touch most electronics or fire arms without making them explode.
Not that he needs fire arms when he's strong enough to fight The Beast, who vaporized all of Empire City in a single blast and can create massive thunderstorms. Considering how immensely heavy clouds of that type can be, The Beast would've had to have generated an energy equivalent to 1.8 Gigatons of TNT to move them.
Source:
And that's not all. Cole MacGrath is fast enough to dodge radiation from the RFI, moving at 51% the speed of light to do so.
Source:
Overall, Cole is a remarkably powerful master of electrokinesis and he’s remembered as one of the most powerful Conduits of all time for good reason. Respect the Patron Saint of Empire City.
Analysis: Delsin
Seven years after Cole sacrificed himself to stop the Beast, the few Conduits that remain in the US have been labeled as Bio-Terrorists by the government, seen as inherently dangerous due to their incredible powers. As such, the Government created the Department of Unified Protection, a group of government sanctioned Conduits tasked with hunting down and imprisoning "Bio-Terrorists".
With full government authorization to do whatever is necessary to contain a threat, the DUP has no problem inpounding and torturing innocent civilians, to the point of brutalizing an entire Native American tribe and leaving them to slowly die of their wounds.
Unfortunately for the DUP, this act of brutality just pissed off one of the most powerful Conduits in history, Delsin Rowe.
Delsin Rowe was the mischievous outcast of the Akomish Tribe, a lovable delinquent with a knack for graffiti and a gift for parkour. This all changed when a Conduit escapee came barreling through his village and Delsin's own Conduit powers awoke to copy the escapee's. When the DUP brutalize his village looking for the escapee, Delsin gets the idea to use his new powers to heal them. If he can copy the powers of the DUP leader, Brooke Augustine, he can remove the concrete shards stuck inside his fellow tribe members.
On his way to avenge his family and save his home, Delsin copies a whole host of superpowers from other Conduits. From the first escapee, Hank Daughtry, he copies the power of Smoke. From the vigilante killer Fetch Walker, he gains the power of Neon, and from the closted shutbin Eugene Sims, he gains the power of Video, each with a huge variety of powers.
With Smoke, he can blast fire out of his hands, superheat the chain around his wrist for combat, turn into smoke to dash through objects and vents, fire smoke grenades, levitate with firey thrusters, create smoke restraints, and even sufficate you. He even shows the ability to manipulate this power on the molecular level, able to transmute people into smoke for him to absorb and turn his smoke into organic matter to heal people's wounds. He can even go as far as to turn himself into a giant bomb, drop from the sky like a nuke, and explode on contact with enough power to sink a concrete island. After which, he just regenerates from the smoke like nothing happened.
With Neon, Delsin can turn into Neon light to dash at lightspeed, run up walls, toss gravity grenades that leave people helplessly hovering in the air while frozen in time, turn his chain into a lightsaber, speed up his reaction speed so that everything moves like a blur to him, shoot neon lasers out of his hands, and reduce human beings to neon particles through Mass Energy Conversion, making his targets explode into Neon energy. In order to convert physical matter into energy like that, you'd need a force roughly equivalent to 1.5 Gigatons of TNT.
Source:
Video, which might more accurately be referred to as Data, allows him absorb and manipulate the pixels and data from any technology with a screen. With it, he can summon angels and demons made of pure data, shoot homing swords from his hand like missles to down attack helicopters, fly on wings, and even turn invisible.
And, of course, there's Concrete from Augustine herself. With it, he can shoot massive disks of stone out of his hand, cover himself in armor and charge through all your defenses, and even generate concrete shards inside of your body, completely nullifying a Conduits powers and potentially damaging vital internal organs.
The problem with all of these remarkable abilities is he has to pick and choose. He can only use on element at a time and to switch, he has to absorb an element from the environment, just as he does whenever he runs low on his energy and needs to recharge. Hell, he can only take Concrete from the dead bodies of other Concrete Conduits, so he wouldn't be able to use it in a fight at all in most circumstances. And, every time he copies a power from a Conduit, all of his powers get completely sealed off until he restores them with Ray Field Energy.
Overall, Delsin is one of the most powerful and versatile Conduits the inFAMOUS universe has ever seen, rightly dubbed the "second coming of Cole" by his adoring public audience.
Throwdown Theme:
youtube
Throwdown Breakdown:
The way the stats between these two line up is very weirdly perfect to me.
First of all, the strength difference is precisely zilch. Cole's calc is a whole .2 Gigatons higher. Not a lot he can pull with that staggering strength advantage. The real difference is in speed. While Cole can dodge and move at roughly 51% light speed, Delsin is just light speed straight up. As in, he can literally turn into light and dodge lasers. This is completely consistent with the creators of Second Son describing Delsin as being twice as fast as Cole. It's rare for statements and feats to line up that well so I just think that's funny.
Anyways, while Delsin is definitely much haxier, Cole has a few clean counters to several of his more devastating abilities. The Concrete piercings will be incredibly painful, Cole's powers wouldn't deactivate as Delsin's would, as Cole has shown to shrug off things that deactivate the powers of Conduits, such as being able to channel the power of the RFI without his powers deactivating and his Evil counterpart taking hits from it that instantly incapacitated the Beast. It's only when it became enough to kill every Conduit on the planet that it overwhelmed him... and even then, it's implied he could've survived.
Same goes for Delsin transmuting him into Neon particles. The Beast's Black Holes rip anything sucked into them down to molecules and atoms, even electricity. If Cole can survive those, he can survive Delsin trying to fuck with his atoms. And if Delsin tries to suffocate him, Cole can always just turn his heart back on.
Delsin, meanwhile, has some advantages of his own. His regeneration is definitively superior and smoke renders any attempt to restrain him moot. There's regenerating from bullets and coming back from the dead, then there's coming back from nothing but smoke.
So, let's break this down, element by element, and see how well Cole performs against each.
Concrete
Pretty well. Concrete is pretty handily the least mobile of Delsin's powers, as well as the one he has the least experience with, which will make it tricky to use against Cole as he ice jumps or grappling hooks away from Delsin's charge, using percision mode to compensate for the speed gap.
Smoke
A bit trickier, but Cole has some legs up here. Smoke dash would catch Cole off guard, allowing Delsin to dash around his shields and follow him through the vents once Cole takes the fight to the rooftops. Smoke Grenades are great for leaving Cole open briefly and Smoke Dash counters restraints, plus Delsin is actually capable of replenishing his supply here, unlike with Concrete. However, suffication will be insufficient at finishing Cole off and if Delsin goes for an orbital drop, he risks Cole dropping a thunderstorm on him while he's airborne. Missiles and smoke grenades can be deflected back at Delsin with shields and Cole still has precision mode and homing attacks to make up the speed gap. Delsin's recharge sources for this power don't run on electricity, unlike Neon and Video, so Cole can't drain them to destroy them. In fact, Delsin might use his speed advsntage to destroy those power sources first, as he did against Fetch. But, Cole can fall back on Karmic Overload if he needs to for that. Plus, if Cole can be fine getting ragdolled by a giant magma monster like the Beast, then the Smoke Shots shouldn't be too hot for him.
Video
Radar Sense counters invisiblity and tornados can sweep up the angles. That's on top of Cole already having experience fighting invisible opponents, with the drones in inFAMOUS 1. Delsin has handily superior air control with this power, due to the near unlimited flight and glide, allowing him to shut down Cole's attempts to gain distance with ice jump or grapple. Of course, sticking to the air could potentially leave Delsin open to homing rockets or thunderstorms. While Delsin ran respond in kind, Cole has shields to block them while Delsin doesn't.
Neon
Absolutely the biggest threat to Cole here. Cole can't counter to time stop grenades, so getting hit by them at all will leave him open for some serious damage. Plus, Delsin has a precision mode himself now, so one of Cole's main methods of bridging the speed gap is gone. Delsin isn't fast enough to blitz Cole, but tge speed and mobility of his dash is going to make Delsin tricky to hit, even with percision mode and rockets.
This matchup is very, very close. 6/10 close. These two are going to give as good as they get and they have the means to keep fighting all night. There are just a handful of things that make this Cole's game however.
1. Experience. The DUP that Delsin fought has only been around for about seven years and he was mostly restricted to fighting concrete Conduits, with all of three people with different powers. The Second Sons that Cole fought have had their powers since the Salem Witch trials (and they've all been alive that long too), and Cole has fought a much greater variety of foes. The Reapers, Second Sons, Mlitia, Swamp Monsters, and Vermack 88 all have a much greater variety of powers than what Delsin's foes had.
2. Versatility. While Delsin is technically far more versatile, he's hampered by needing to go out of his way to switch powers, while Cole has enough Versatility in his one skill set to reliably contend with most of what Delsin has with each of his individually. Of Delsin's powers were all part of one organic moveset, this would be a very different story.
Delsin has no way of knowing about or exploiting Cole's weakness to water, especially as Delsin himself can't swim. While Cole has no way of killing Delsin with that regeneration, he doesn't need to. Hank didn't need to vaporize Delsin to knock him unconscious, after all. Cole should be able to knock him out all the same.
This Throwdown's Winner is...

The month of Marcolivia is over and I would like to sum it up Thank you so much @darkvioletcloud and @ehshaurous for participating in this challenge. I saw a lot of beautiful art of Marcoh and Olivia. I hope that they made not only me happy, but also other people who saw them. I would like to say a little something personal, but related to this challenge. All the couples that are depicted in fear and hunger are beautiful. I saw challenges for some couples and also saw that there was little art with Marcoh and Olivia. And so, I see to make a challenge for other artists. I understood that my drawings were not making a contribution and in fact, this challenge was the last attempt to do something for my favorite characters and ship. When I did the challenge I was happy, but actually… sad. This, then, for me was the last content that I wanted to make out of fear and hunger. I wanted to do a challenge, post it and leave the fandom in terms of creating content or maybe completely. I had the thought that “I’ll leave and if someone finds it and implements it, it will be great, but it won’t concern me anymore, at least the person will rejoice at this exhibit in the dust.” And now, I see that they are asking me some questions about the topics. This made me happy, but I think, okay, they asked, it was very nice. But then December 1st came and I saw that arts had appeared and they were tagging me. I didn’t expect this and was very touched. After this, such a strong motivation and surge of strength appeared. I realized that maybe my drawings are not as popular as others, but first of all, I myself should enjoy drawing Marcoh and Olivia. Even a couple of likes is great because those few people like it. Of course, in 2024 I plan to improve the situation with anatomy and go into drawing my original character out of a need for speed, but I think I will draw Marcoh and Olivia, even if only a couple of people are watching. After all, when I draw them I am very happy and that’s the main thing. If you have read my huge text, then I hope that you are happy too. I wish you health, happiness in all spheres and peace in 2024. And also be sure to have creative success.

🎙 Where did you first get the idea for Mare?
//Okay, so, story time. Let me take you back to August 2018. The world had gone to shit, Avengers Infinity War had recently released in theaters, and I was a 14 year old boy (probably) who had just discovered the internet.
//I had taken to browsing TV Tropes in my spare time, still do but not as frequently. Something, something, ruin your life. Anyways, TV Tropes has many pages for many different things, far beyond just TV and Tropes. Among those was fanfiction and through it I discovered a treasure trove of ages long past. That Golden Fandom Era of great cringe.
//You see, most of TV Tropes' pages on fanfiction are for some pretty old stuff. They've got pages on newer fics too, its a great source of advertising, but the website was launched in 2004 it goes back ages and newer fics aren't crosswicked as much. So much of my fanfiction exposure was older stuff. The classics. And, of course, one of the fic types I came across was Nuzlocke fics. The idea of doing a Nuzlocke Challenge intrigued me, and the idea of writing a fic about it more so. And thus, my journey bega.
//I booted up my favorite game in the series, Pokemon Alpha Sapphire, and restarted. incidentally wiping several years worth of event legendaries and the event Blaziken I'd carried over from XY out of existance. I'm sorry XY Event Blaziken with Speed Boost and Blazikenite. You will be missed. What was I saying?
//Oh right, I restarted Alpha Sapphire, selected the female pc with blissful ignorance of my own gender fluidity, named her Mare, and began my run... I wrote one chapter and then gave up because I got too attached to the Pokemon and having to release them made me cry. But, while that was the end for that fic, it was not the end for Mare. I tried to write several more fics for her which, uh, weren't good and can hopefully stay buried forever. 14 year old me had a bit of a perverted streak that I am not proud of.
//Then roleplaying came into the picture. I've been roleplaying for... this'll be my 8th year roleplaying online. Jeez. Anyways, I used to do forum roleplays before I got kind of tired of that and stopped. Takes a lot of effort to maintain a forum roleplay and, honestly, a lot of the people on the site I used were assholes, elitists, gatekeepers, or all three. But I'm not here to trash talk people behind their backs.
//So, I started a Pokemon forum roleplay and repurposed Mare for it. Because my Nuzlocke fic was inspired by classic Nuzlocke fics, Mare could understand Pokemon for no explained reason other than to make it easier for the reader to grow attached to them before they die. I also gave her enhanced strength because I thought a teenage girl punching out Archie would be funny. Now, for the roleplay space, I had to explain it. Luckily, I remembered a movie I'd watched as a kid, Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, and also by that point it was 2020 and I was an avid Smash Ultimate player who mained Lucario. So I gave her Aura powers to justify it, added on Aura Vision, discovered Sapphire Pokespe existed halfway through making her character sheet and used her as Mare's faceclaim, and bada bing bada boom, Marie "Mare" Birch was born. But we aren't quite at final form Mare yet.
//In February of 2023 I joined Tumblr and one month later, in March, I discovered Pokemon IRL. Eager to join in, I created a blog for... Caleb Vixen, normal fox guy and intended self insert. I created Mare's blog 20 days later. When I created the blog I expanded her Aura Powers to include durability, healing, and any moves a Lucario can use (Aura Sphere mainly), and gave her the epithet Chosen of Rayquaza. Also, she was the worst. Like, she was still a hero but she was also an asshole. This was true of all versions of Mare up to that point. Its kind of incredible looking at her right now where her defining personality trait is being nice vs back when I started where her defining personality trait was being an asshole. Oh, also, when the blog started it had been six months since her Journey ended not five years I don't know how that happened.
//So, Chosen of Rayquaza, what did that mean? Nothing. I just thought it sounded cool. But, when I had Mare make a little joke about "I don't know what Chosen of Rayquaza means" it quickly gained a meaning, largely thanks to @pinkhairandpokemon, who introduced me to the concept of Chosen AUs which I had no idea existed at the time. Anyways, Mare ended up with Rayquaza powers and a savior complex and also became much nicer. Then a bunch of other stuff happened and a good chunk of it had to be retconned away and now you're here.
//tl;dr, she came from a Nuzlocke fic.

I found this fanart of minato in hxh what would happen if minato was in the hxh universe how would things change would he be stronger than ging how would he fair against hisoka and adult gon?
Tumblr media
Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage from the Naruto universe, possesses remarkable abilities that would undoubtedly impact the **Hunter x Hunter** world.
1. Teleportation Technique:
- Minato's signature move is the "Flying Thunder God" technique. This allows him to instantly teleport to a previously marked location. In the nen system, this ability would likely fall under the Emission category.
- The drawback would be that he needs to place a seal beforehand, which could take a few seconds.
2. Strength and Combat Skills:
- Minato is an exceptional fighter, known for his Rasengan (a powerful chakra sphere) and strategic prowess.
- His combat abilities would rival some of the strongest nen users in the Hunter x Hunter universe.
3. Comparison to Ging Freecss:
- Minato's speed and teleportation skills would give him an edge over Ging. However, Ging's vast knowledge and experience might compensate.
- In a direct confrontation, Minato's agility and precision could make him a formidable opponent.
4. Against Hisoka:
- Hisoka, a cunning and unpredictable fighter, would pose a challenge. Minato's teleportation could surprise Hisoka, but Hisoka's nen abilities (like Bungee Gum) are versatile.
- It would be an intense battle, with Minato relying on quick strikes and evasion.
5. Adult Gon:
- Adult Gon is immensely powerful, fueled by rage and nen. Minato's teleportation would help him evade Gon's devastating attacks.
- However, Gon's raw strength and determination might overwhelm Minato.
6. Impact on the World:
- Minato's arrival would shake the Hunter x Hunter world. He'd likely become a legendary figure, influencing hunters and nen users.
- His interactions with characters like Netero, Killua, and Kurapika would be intriguing.

General neutron star structure revealed So far, little is known about the interior of neutron stars, those extremely compact objects that can form after the death of a star: the mass of our sun or even more is compressed into a sphere with the diameter of a large city. Since their discovery more than 60 years ago, scientists have been trying to decipher their structure. The greatest challenge is to simulate the extreme conditions inside neutron stars, as they can hardly be recreated on Earth in the laboratory. There are therefore many models in which various properties – from density and temperature – are described with the help of so-called equations of state. These equations attempt to describe the structure of neutron stars from the stellar surface to the inner core. Now physicists at Goethe University Frankfurt have succeeded in adding further crucial pieces to the puzzle. The working group led by Prof. Luciano Rezzolla at the Institute of Theoretical Physics developed more than a million different equations of state that satisfy the constraints set by data obtained from theoretical nuclear physics on the one hand, and by astronomical observations on the other. When evaluating the equations of state, the working group made a surprising discovery: “Light” neutron stars (with masses smaller than about 1.7 solar masses) seem to have a soft mantle and a stiff core, whereas “heavy” neutron stars (with masses larger than 1.7 solar masses) instead have a stiff mantle and a soft core. "This result is very interesting because it gives us a direct measure of how compressible the centre of neutron stars can be," says Prof. Luciano Rezzolla, "Neutron stars apparently behave a bit like chocolate pralines: light stars resemble those chocolates that have a hazelnut in their centre surrounded by soft chocolate, whereas heavy stars can be considered more like those chocolates where a hard layer contains a soft filling." Crucial to this insight was the speed of sound, a study focus of Bachelor's student Sinan Altiparmak. This quantity measure describes how fast sound waves propagate within an object and depends on how stiff or soft matter is. Here on Earth, the speed of sound is used to explore the interior of the planet and discover oil deposits. By modelling the equations of state, the physicists were also able to uncover other previously unexplained properties of neutron stars. For example, regardless of their mass, they very probably have a radius of only 12 km. Thus, they are just as large in diameter as Goethe University’s hometown Frankfurt. Author Dr. Christian Ecker explains: "Our extensive numerical study not only allows us to make predictions for the radii and maximum masses of neutron stars, but also to set new limits on their deformability in binary systems, that is, how strongly they distort each other through their gravitational fields. These insights will become particularly important to pinpoint the unknown equation of state with future astronomical observations and detections of gravitational waves from merging stars." So, while the exact structure and composition of matter inside neutron stars continues to remain a mystery, the wait until its discovery can certainly be sweetened with a chocolate or two.
