hey guys. joe spacebattles here. just wanted to promote my new wormfic. its set all before arc 8 obviously. and basically the idea is that taylor discovers all the vicious and evil crimes those oriental freaks- uh i mean normal average gang of asians- commit. and then she teams up with the noble and pure empire 88 to eradicate them. uh did i say eradicate i mean commits normal, non race-based violence. and also hookwolf decides to take her in and is like a father figure to her. because that is reasonable and in line with both of their characters.

With some people interested in migrating away from tumblr due to the staff’s latest decisions, I decided to plug an old favorite website of mine.
Spacebattles is a forum dedicated to fanfiction, geeky discussion, roleplaying, and some politics. It also has a large amount of fanfiction.
Also, I think spacebattles moderation is waaaaaaaay better than tumblr’s. They are not perfect, but unlike tumblr, they deal with harassment that is reported, and they do not randomly remove posts with no context given.
NOTE: spacebattles’ culture is different from tumblrs. “Low content posting” is against the rules, so make your posts at least one sentence. Also, while spacebattles has a tagging system, it is considerably less feature rich than tumblr’s. Also, it encourages discussion is story threads, so if you post your story there, you can get into active discussions with your readers.
Finally, it is a SFW site, so keep the hornyposting to a minimum.

5 + 1 Fic Friday Roundup: The Letter of the Law
Have some tasty examples of malicious compliance; some fanfiction where they needed the letter of the law.
Harry Potter: Master of Malicious Compliance (AO3) - "Harry Potter was not above doing whatever it took to get what he wanted. It often meant he'd have to go to extreme lengths to make people suffer for their stupidity, but the results were always worth it. This Harry Potter takes things too literally."
Just a Phase (AO3) - "Abandoned by her father in Boston, Taylor discovers that joining the Wards means very little unless she's willing to play along. Suffice to say, she's not."
Implacable (SB) - "After triggering with a far more obvious power and getting into a knock down fight with Sophia in the halls of Winslow, Taylor is press-ganged into the Wards. It might have been tolerable, she was only on probation for six months, but she'd rather burn the whole organization to the ground than spend one full minute on a team with Shadow Stalker."
Work to Rule (AO3) - "Death Eaters now call the shots in the Ministry for Magic, and it is absolutely not Percy’s fault that so much paperwork is getting lost, accidentally erased, or rained on, no sir. He’s a model employee who always follows the rules to the letter. Ask anyone."
Civil Disobedience (AO3) - "Tom Riddle is a genius, and originally he was planning on just murdering his way into this, but now? Well. Tom Riddle was a very, very petty man, and nobody discriminates against him."
Bonus: Agni Kai Abuse (AO3) - "Zuko groans. “It’s illegal to ban Agni Kais without a constitutional amendment, and that’ll never happen because it’s ‘a blatant affront to tradition."

While we’re looking at lifeboats in case of the worst case scenario, some people might enjoy Sufficient Velocity? It’s a rare example of a forum that’s still going strong and it trends progressive and LGBT friendly, to boot. There’s boards for art, fanfic and some kinds of RP along with a general chat board, a board for politics and RL issues, etc.
There’s also a sister site, Spacebattles, which is much larger and thus better for getting art out there or finding people who share your fandom, but it’s less like tumblr culturally and politically. I know some people who’ve had issues there, but it’s worth a shot when looking for fan discussion or fics.

I read a lot of fanfic.
Like
A LOT
In diferents places, because variety
And that make me have a relly big list with differents names of autor with more than one fic who I just love read.
I dont have just one form of history who I read, since a purple prose then a serius crack, or a total AU with big chages of the plot, genderbending and ooc.
And I read everywhere, in de university, in the transport, in the beach, with me parents, in the house of my granny.
You know
EVERYWHERE
And that make me have a incredible poker face, so. . .
To me
The best form of notice how envelope and conecting is a history is if I have to take one moment or two for not to cry.
If I need to stop reading, look in front of me and breath.
That is the form i know the autor is a good writter.

5 + 1 Fic Friday Roundup: New Houses of ASOIAF
Well, March used to be the first month so in the theme of firsts: have some fics that include a newly established noble house in the ASOIAF/GOT universe. Plus, one house that got bumped up from noble to royal.
The Winter of Widows (SB) - "When she'd awoken to a new life in Westeros instead of dying a horrible death, Ursula Mires had almost done the sensible thing. Only a year away from being sworn to the Faith as a Septa and relative independence in a cloister, she had made peace with her life. What little she could remember of how the Dance went had been shared secretly with her father and kept him alive. House Mires survived the civil war and should have gone on happily without her, until at the start of winter tragedy struck. Now the only heir to a floundering House she wants nothing to do with, Ursula finds herself in a similar position to many ladies after the war. It is a season the maesters will call 'the winter of widows'."
Dread Our Wrath (SB) - "A man from modern times awakens as the heir of a newly arisen house in one of the more backwater regions the Stormlands. It is approximately a decade and a half before the Conquest of Dorne under Daeron I Targaryen, and all the dragons have died out. Since you put CQ on Royal Road, have you ever considered putting new stories on Spacebattles or Sufficient Velocity? I know they're mostly famous for Worm fanfiction but there's plenty of non-Worm stuff on there, and a lot of it is decent. New stories on there tend to get more comments than they would on Royal Road (I think), so maybe yours would get attention?
There's really no downside to putting my stories on more places, I'm simply unfamiliar with many of them. What I'm really looking for a second place I can put Cockatiel x Chameleon while maintaining its images and footnotes (and, obviously, the M-rated aspects). It's a vulnerability that right now that story is only available on one site. I would prefer for all of my stories to be posted to at least two locations...
Speaking of, now that Cleveland Quixotic is finished, I'll work on porting Fargo and Chicago to AO3. Maybe I can post them on RoyalRoad too, even though they're outside the typical type of content for that site?
