One of the moments that has the most potential to become a stellar scene in House of the Dragon is probably the days before Criston Cole's death. The men sick and starving walking through the destroyed Riverlands, the burning villages, Criston realizing that all of this is Aemond's doing. Them walking through those horrific feasts of burnt corpses and getting attacked by men disguised as dead villagers. This whole scene has such a vivid sense of horror linked to it and it could allow the audience to have a sense of the scale of what Aemond did when he burned the Riverlands. Have Criston walk through the ruins caused by the boy he practically raised and then have him die like a peasant at the Butcher's Ball. This has so much potential at every level, visual and storytelling of the war and I know that Fabien Frankel and Ewan Mitchell would be terrific at portraying all of that.

Beneath God's Eye
"Balerion the Black Dread fell upon the younger dragon from above, ripping a wing from her body. Quicksilver fell to her death, with Prince Aegon upon her back
Once Aegon fell, the rebels saw their cause lost."

Some random fashion/hairstyle/accessory headcanons for asoiaf. total and complete mashup of historical periods of the middle ages
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think women in the Stormlands are all about those wimples, snoods, cauls, etc cause you know, wind and all that. I think the higher up the chain of nobility a woman gets, the less she covers her hair up - it shows a pretty high level of wealth and privilege to have the time to sit for hours while a servant pins hair up in an elaborate style made to hold in the wind. As well as the privilege noble ladies have of being able to just go inside when the weather is stormy, as opposed to smallfolk who potentially don’t have that option when they’re running farms and shops (and therefore need something to hold their hair with little effort 24/7)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think the Riverlands are pretty similar to the Stormlands in that they are generally a more practical sort of people, and wealth is displayed more through impractical items to wear and/or make. Fuckoff big and weird headgear, ruffs that take a lot of time and fabric to make, farthingales (even if that is pushing it on the “middle ages” time period) and especially French farthingales on special occasions
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Westerlands on the other hand? It’s precious metals, jewelry, gemstones embroidered into clothing, gold braid, velvet, fur, every ostentatious display of wealth you can think of. I also like them wearing farthingales, since they’re right next to the Riverlands and I like them in similar but slightly different styles (for reasons that will go in another post). In general I also like the idea that clothing gets less structured as one gets further south, so the Riverlands and Westerlands are the only ones wearing farthingales
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Reach is a very romantic culture, so I think the women there would want to show off their hair while still staying within the realm of Westerosi modesty. Unmarried women wear their hair “down” but still held back with braids in some way, while unmarried women wear something close to a balzo so they can show their hair while still keeping it “covered”. The Reach is a pretty big region, so as you get closer to the Riverlands you start to see some escoffions, as you get closer to the Stormlands you start to see more elaborate braids and cauls, etc.

So we been knew that Iron Islanders are Vikings but I do actually love Viking clothing for them specifically because of the little brooches/pins/patches they wear to hold the straps on their strap dresses. Vikings historically would have used these to attach and carry various items, and it does feel very Iron Islands for their few bits of decoration to also serve a practical purpose.

Alas, the king was not of a forgiving mind. Urged on by his mother, the Queen Dowager Alicent, Aegon II was determined to exact vengeance upon those who had betrayed and deposed him. He started with the crownlands, sending forth his own men and the stormlanders of Borros Baratheon against Rosby, Stokeworth, and Duskendale and the surrounding keeps and villages. Though the lords thus accosted, through their stewards and castellans, were quick to lower Rhaenyra’s quartered banner and raise Aegon’s golden dragon in its stead, each in turn was brought in chains to King’s Landing and forced to do obeisance before the king. Nor were they freed until they had agreed to pay a heavy ransom, and provide the Crown with suitable hostages. This campaign proved a grave mistake, for it only served to harden the hearts of the late queen’s men against the king. Reports soon reached King’s Landing of warriors gathering in great numbers at Winterfell, Barrowton, and White Harbor. In the riverlands, the aged and bedridden Lord Grover Tully had finally died (of apoplexy from having his house fight against the rightful king at Second Tumbleton, Mushroom says), and his grandson Elmo, now at last the Lord of Riverrun, had called the lords of the Trident to war once more, lest he suffer the same fate as Lords Rosby, Stokeworth, and Darklyn. To him gathered Benjicot Blackwood of Raventree, already a seasoned warrior at three-and-ten; his fierce young aunt, Black Aly, with three hundred bows; Lady Sabitha Frey, the merciless and grasping Lady of the Twins; Lord Hugo Vance of Wayfarer’s Rest; Lord Jorah Mallister of Seagard; Lord Roland Darry of Darry; aye, and even Humfrey Bracken, Lord of Stone Hedge, whose house had hitherto supported King Aegon’s cause.
Fire and Blood (George R. R. Martin)
How badly do you need to piss off the Lords, for Brackens to defect and join the same side as Blackwoods of their own free will?

Every year, in a nearby village they hold a trout festival where people dance and sing and eat trout and also have a beauty contest to find the next queen of freshwater. I imagine Riverlands and House Tully having a similar festival. And ofc Catelyn was declared queen of freshwater at least once.

Ser Brynden Tully, Castellan of Riverrun
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Tully had a craggy face, deeply lined and windburnt beneath a shock of stiff grey hair, but Jaime could still see the great knight who once enthralled a squire with tales of the Ninepenny Kings."
A young Brynden Tully from my Ninepenny Kings diorama. I've mentioned I was cursed to re-do all the Westerosi characters - Brynden I was of course painting as the iconic Blackfish, until I realised this was before he took that title on, so he's just... regular fish.
I do love the Tully miniatures, the fishy details on the armour are a lot of fun. The Tully colours are also very lovely. I do love that the Tully colours basically make the claim "we claim dominion over two of the three rivers that make up our region". They're such an emphatically underwhelming house, and I adore them for that.

A Game of Thrones, Bran III
He looked south, and saw the great blue-green rush of the Trident.
He saw his father pleading with the king, his face etched with grief.
He saw Sansa crying herself to sleep at night, and he saw Arya watching in silence and holding her secrets hard in her heart.
There were shadows all around them.
One shadow was dark as ash, with the terrible face of a hound.
Another was armored like the sun, golden and beautiful.
Over them both loomed a giant in armor made of stone, but when he opened his visor, there was nothing inside but darkness and thick black blood.

Hi !! Could you maybe draw how you imagine Arya's reunion with Nymeria in the books ?
I love your art so much !

Lady Stoneheart, Lem Lemoncloak, Thoros of Myr, Tom of Sevenstreams, Harwin, Gendry, Arya, Nymeria and her pack!
Tumblr media
This question is very old lol. When I started drawing this I had a quieter and fun scene in mind, then I started adding characters and I got lost. And I've spent way too long arguing with the color palette of this thing. I give up. I hope you like it as it is.

People saying "that bastard didn't pay for hurting aemond" he didn't pay for it because there was nothing to pay for, in the book aemond had nearly murdered jacaerys, who was 5 year old being beaten up by a 10 year old, and in show they have had him hit with a rock, one more hit and jace would have been comatose or dead.
Only people responsible for injustice to ameond were his parents, alicent instead of demanding an eye could have demanded his seat be passed onto joff or his dragon not be ridden. But she went with her ego and asked for a batshit insane thing, followed by rhaenyra asking for another batshit insane thing, both from children.
Narratively had luke owed aemond anything he would have lived and suffered like aemond lives and suffers but he dies instantly or is living his amnesic fisherman life in books, either way he got his ocean send off and a dragon riders death in the show.
He's proven to be a true targeryen if not velaryon. He dies doing his duty to his mother while aemond dies trying to gain some glory like an idiot he is.
Aemond on the other hand with his own mouth admits he paid for a privilege so called "pure valyrian" are afforded easily. While yeah he might have said that in show to placate his mom, it makes not sense in the book. And then begins his dorian like journey to his rot and death.
