“At the opening feast, the queen wore a green gown, whilst Princess Rhaenyra dressed dramatically in Targaryen red and black. Note was taken, and thereafter it became the custom to refer to “greens” and “blacks” when talking of the queen's party and the party of the princess, respectively.”
the dresses that started it all. had lots of fun drawing these!! more to come👀

Have you ever asked yourself what a book for tourist traveling to Westeros would look like ? Well, my intrusive thoughts and lack of sleep helped me come up with this idea. It's just the first part of 9 I'll do one for each region of the land of Westeros, but I already have plan to do it to the region's of Westeros too. I based myself not just on the cultures of the real world but also Westeros, and what they would look like in a modern setting, so yeah enjoy my crazy shit because I sure did when I woke up today and decided to do this.
NORTH. VALE. RIVERLANDS. WESTERLANDS. REACH. STORMLANDS. DORNE . IRON ISLANDS.

Hello, I have a question regarding Brienne IV, AFFC:
“He agreed. "Brune's too old to go climbing wallwalks, and his sons and grandsons went off to the wars. No one left in there but wenches, and a snot-nosed babe or three."
It was on her lips to ask her guide which king Lord Brune had espoused, but it made no matter any longer. Brune's sons were gone; some might not be coming back.”
Based off this brief passage, who do you think the Lords of Crackclaw Point likely supported during the War of the Five Kings?
Let's go through each of the candidates, shall we?
Joffrey (On the surface highly unlikely given House Lannister's actions towards the end of Robert's Rebellion and the fact Dick Crabb boasts in AFFC "we're all good dragon men, up Crackclaw way" BUT we do need something to explain why throughout the war Tywin is consistently said to have 20K men and him enforcing conscription on Crackclaw Point best fits that bill. Also helps explain why they don't show up to defend King's Landing against Stannis in the lead-up to the Battle of the Blackwater.)
Robb (Unlikely given the fact Crackclaw Point has never been part of the Riverlands and one of Robb's chief vassals, the Mootons of Maidenpool, have been historical enemies of Crackclaw Point.)
Renly (Possible were it not for the fact Renly died early on in the war and never even reached the Crownlands.)
Stannis (More likely than most given his opposition to House Lannister as well as the presence of other Crownlands houses within his army but if that were the case, I think GRRM would have mentioned it by now.)
Balon (Out of the question. Not only are the Ironborn universally despised but they're also on the opposite side of the continent from the Crownlands.)
Thanks for the question, anon

Were I a Lord or Lady of Westeros after Bran the Broken was named King of the Six Kingdoms. I would have rebelled. I would have rebelled so hard, that Sansa would have needed to send her newly minted army of northerners to help her brother maintain the seat he got for having good stories. Because if the North gets to liberate itself from Aegon the Conquerors Realm, then I'll be damned if I need to stay in it too. If you liberate one, you have to liberate all six kingdoms.

If the books end with the throne destroyed and all kingdoms independent. Who gets the crownlands? And who do you think will end up lord of dragonstone with Daenerys, Jon snow and aegon dead?
I think they'll probably be divvied up between the Stormlands and Riverlands. Dragonstone probably either gets taken over by the Velaryons or held by Daenerys's retainers that stayed there instead of getting blown up in KL.
Thanks for the question, Anon.

In your opinion, how common would marriages be between the Kings Landing adjacent Crownlands houses (Rosby, Stokeworth, Darklyn/Rykker) and the families who are closer to Dragonstone, such as Houses Massey, Bar Emmon or even Velaryon and Celtigar?
The serious “In your opinion” anon, you’re back!
Tumblr media
I know I’ve been slow answering your questions; other people have answered some I think better than I could, and doing the necessary research and typing up a thoughtful response takes more effort than making some snarky jokes as in the goof meta tag. But I’m glad you’re still here.
To answer your question, I don’t think suburban houses/Narrow sea houses matches are uncommon, but they’re not nearly as common as the houses marrying their neighbors. We have an example of an inter-Crownlands match in Hazel Harte/Daeron Velaryon (though we also have inter-kingdom matches in Manderly/Darklyn, Rosby/Farring/Frey, Staunton/Webber, Stokeworth/Lothston, Celtigar/Grafton and Celtigar/Peake). However, more numerous are the suburban houses marrying each other (Gyles Rosby married a Stokeworth and him and Tanda are third cousins, Falyse Stokeworth/Balman Byrch, the numerous Hollard/Darklyn marriages) and the Narrow Sea Houses marrying each other (Alarra Massey/Aethan Velaryon, Togarion Bar Emmon/Josua Massey’s daughter, of course the numerous Targaryen/Velaryon marriages). Despite the lack of more concrete examples, I’m sure the Narrow sea and suburban houses have intermarried more (GRRM just forgot to name the mothers/wives of many of his family tree; for instance, only Hazel Harte and Alarra Massey are mentioned as non-Targaryen Velaryon brides, but considering how much focus GRRM puts on the Velaryons in the supplemental material surely Corlys’ mother, the mothers/wives of the silent five, Daemon’s wife/daughter, Vaemond’s mother and wife etc should at least be named?) just due to their proximity to each other. Some of these families have been at war (Darklyn and Bar Emmon), and we know that Andals intermarried with the First Men after their invasion, so the Hundred Kingdoms era may have been a time when these marriages were more common.

The Septa of the Dragons
Tumblr media
Rhaena had the will of the Dragons and worked for their cause. She visited every corner of Westeros and even Essos as a messenger and speaker of House Targaryen.
The power given away by King Baelor I was recovered by Princess Rhaena Targaryen who had become a Septa, reminding the High Septon and Maesters of the Might of House Targaryen.
She had a mind for finances, politics and for inventions.
Possessor of golden silver hair and mauve purple eyes that resembled in everything those of the iconic Jaehaera Targaryen.
Thanks to her, a library was built which was specialized in Valyrian history.
Rhaena's assistance was welcomed everywhere, and King Viserys II saw his reign recover thanks to the much needed assistance Rhaena had provided.

daemon targaryen being mild to moderately anguished at all times about not being born a girl so he could marry viserys really does make him being a boy but experiencing the Girl Event of getting sold off at age fifteen by an older family member to a faraway place to secure an arbitrary marriage alliance a whole other thing doesn’t it.

Not only do I believe that to be incredibly common but F & B more or less confirmed it by revealing Alyssa Velaryon's mother to be a Massey and Daenaera Velaryon's a Harte.
