Remus Lupin was drunk; he often was at parties.ย
For some reason, people think Remus isn't like his friends. He's theย matureย one. You had yet to learn where people got that idea from. Remus Lupin was a troublemaker in every sense of the word, and you swore his mouth would get you in trouble, too.
He would talk to you until you were giggling. It would result in glances from other students and stares from professors.ย
But, right now, you swore his mouth was about to get you into a different kind of trouble.
Another thing about Remus Lupin was that he was usually kissing someone, messily snogging them in the corner of a party before disappearing.
"Lights are so bright right now," Remus hiccuped.ย
You laughed, "Okay, handsome,"ย Remus blushed at the nickname, "Time to get you to bed."
He pouted, "But that's not fair," He whined.
"Why?"
"'Cos then Iโ" He put his finger up as he struggled to remember what he was going to say, "I have to say goodbye to you."
Your heart tightened. Why did Remus always have to say things like that when he was drunk?
You laughed, "I'm sure you won't miss me that much."
He frowned and looked almost offended, "Ofย course,ย I'll miss you that much," He argued.
"You don't mean that," You sighed, tired from this stupid act he would put on.
"Now," You forced him to stand with you, "Off to bed."
As you cut him off, he was about to argue, "No if's, and's, or buts."
He frowned.
"Stay with me," He was finally in bed, but now came the tricky part: leaving.
"I can't, Remus."
"But," He pouted while extending his arms, "Love you."
Your eyes pricked with tears, "You don't mean that, Remus," You turned away from him, crossing your arms.
He grabbed your arm, "I do!" There was hurt plastered across his face as he quietly repeated: "I do."
But he doesn't.
"Please, y/n," He pleaded, "Love you, please stay."
Your heart crumbled with every word that came out of his mouth.
"Remus," You sighed, "I can't do this."
He looked like a wounded animal, "Why? 'M I that unlovable?"
Your heart hurt. He's not unlovable. He's one of the most lovable people, you tell him.ย
"So why don't you love me?" He asked.
"I do love you," You responded, trying to sound confident.
Remus crossed his arms, "But not in the way I love you."
"My love," You brushed some hair from his eyes, "I love you in the way you think you love me. I want to kiss you, Remus."
The gears were turning in his inebriated brain, "So why don't you?"
A tear rolled down your cheek, "Because you don't want to kiss me when you're sober."
Remus was fixated on your tear, "I don't?" He wiped the tear away, "How stupid of me," His hand lingered on your face.
Typically, you would laugh at this, but you couldn't bring yourself to do it, "Remus, you are drunk. You aren't thinking straight." You sighed as more tears fell, "There's a reason you don't want to kiss me," You choked, and your voice was weak, "There's a reason you don't want to kiss me when you can think straight."
Remus opened his arms; you couldn't resist the hug, so you collapsed into him. He kissed your head, "I'm sorry. I must really be dumb when I can think straight because you're so pretty, and so nice, and so perfect," He whispered.ย
"Please just stay for the night," He tried once more, "Stay the night, then when I wake up, I'll remember why you're here and kiss you."
You tried your hardest to resist, "I can't do that, Remus."
He looked so hurt, "Why not?"ย
You sighed, "Because I've done it too many times."
His brows creased, "What?"
You swallowed the lump in your throat, "Remus, every time you get blackout drunk, you do this. You tell me you love me, you ask me to stay, and you tell me you'll remember in the morning. You never remember." You cried harder, "I can't do it again."
"How many times?"
You sniffled, "This is the sixth time."
"This time, Y/n, I'll remember. I will wake up and kiss you," He promised.
You weren't sure why you listened, but you crawled into bed, and Remus cuddled against you. At least you had him in some capacity, right?
You woke up; Remus was already up, drinking tea, "G'morning." He said.
"Hi," You feigned puzzlement, "Why am I here?"
Remus shrugged, "Dunno."
Your heart frowned. You knew he wouldn't remember, but that doesn't mean it stung any less.
"I'll get going," You murmured. It was routine at this point. But today, he grabbed your wrist, "Stay with me?"
You pursed your lips and furrowed your brows, "Why?"
He smirked, "Because I was lying, I know why you're here, and I want to kiss you."

"I can't do that, pom poms. Sorry."
You speak, brows furrowed, "But I didn't say a day."
Eddie stays silent.
And then it dawns on you, "Oh."
"Look, we said no feelings," He explains.
"We did," You agree, "Sorry."
And that's when the tears start.
"Sorry," You repeat.
Eddie doesn't know what to doโhe's not good with crying people.
"What is it?" You ask.
His eyes widen, "What?"
"What's not good enough about me, Eddie?"
He opens his mouth with raised brows, "Nothing! Nothing's wrong with you."ย
"Well, there has to beย something!" You argue, "Nobody's ever asked me out, so what's so wrong with me?"
His brows furrow, "Pom poms, this is uncharted territory for me. Iโ I don't know what to say."
"Sorry," You repeat for the third time.

Once Marlene was happy with the way the camera was set, she asked Sirius to place you a bit more to the side. The camera pointed at you and the attention being on you was a bit embarrassing but you shrugged it off as soon as everyone was satisfied.
You moved slowly and smiled as Sirius and James were giving you thumbs up. It made you laugh even.
โAs much as we love you, dear, those are not for you.โ Sirius said a smirk glued to his face.
You frowned and turned around only to find Remus, one knee on the paved floor, and his hands holding a small box. Your heart missed a beat. As your brain drew the conclusion, your vision became blurry with tears but your lips gave a loving smile.
โHey darlingโ Remus said softly. โIโm sorry I took so long to come up with this, but I really wanted it to be perfect for you. I love you so much darling. So much I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you do me this honour?โ

You and Remus have a long history. You became friends in first year and then stopped being friends in third year because he was hiding secrets from you. Then, you made up because he apologized and explained what was happening. Granted, you already knew he was a werewolf; you were just waiting for him to tell you. Now, you're in your seventh year, and you've been flirting to the point that James has been sick over it. Multiple times.ย
"You look nice," You smile as he walks into the great hall."
"I just woke up, darling. Nothing special," He laughs.
"You still look nice."
He blushes so soft you can't see it.
"Merlin!" You shout, hand on your rapidly beating heart, "Why would you do that?"
Remus chuckles, "Because you're funny when you're scared."

Your heart beats faster than before.
"Stop flirting!" Sirius calls; Remus rolls his eyes while heat rises to your face.
"We've got somewhere to be, mate!" James says, and Peter chimes in with a small, squeaky, "Please?"
Remus jogs up to catch his friends, but he turns around and smiles hisย stupid, breathtaking smile.
You slowly feel him slipping away. He spends less time with you and doesn't sit next to you in the classes he doesn't share with his friends.ย
"Remus!" You call out, walking faster to catch up with his long strides. He looks back and, upon seeing who was calling him, turns back around and keeps walking.
He doesn't really talk to you anymore; you give him the benefit of the doubt. It's close to the full moon, but you're working on something for him. Walking up to him, you tap on his shoulder, "Remus, I have a surprise," You're beaming, holding out a vile.
"What's this?" He takes the potion between his fingers, inspecting it in the light.
"Wolfsbane," You smile.
He licks his lips, "Why?"
You sharply inhale, "Cos... you're my friend."
He shrugs, "Thanks." And, with that, he's gone.
You feel frigid. Remus is suddenly gone from your life againโhe was the only thing keeping you warm. He's been looking away when you make eye contact, and he hasn't talked to you once.
One day, you corner him, scolding, "Remus, what are you doing?! Why are you ruining us again?" Your face drops, "Why did you leave?"
He swallows, "Sorry."
You stare at him, "Sorry? That's all you have to say? Afterย everything,ย that's it?"
His mouth opens, only to close again.
"You know..." You sharply inhale, "I thought you liked me. For so long, I thought I had a chance. Thank you for making it clear I don't."
"You're welcome."
He walks awayโyou never speak again.
