Strawberry Field gates. Nikon F65. Expired Kodak 400.
Strawberry Field was a children's home operated by The Salvation Army up until 2005. It was opened to the public in 2019 and now consists of a shop, cafe and training centre.
The gates which stand on Beaconsfield Road have been a tourist attraction and place of pilgrimage for some years due to the Beatles song.
When io visited I was unable to go into the new facility due to a private function so all i could photograph was the gates.

With the stroke of a brush. Meet Iraqi artist Fairoozan Abdullah
Growing up in Baghdad, Iraq, Fairoozan Abdullah remembers painting as far back as the age of five. The young artist went on to earn a bachelor's degree from the College of Fine Arts at the University of Baghdad and teach art in the Iraqi capital for many years.
At 30, Fairoozan and her family were forced to leave Iraq, however she continued to paint as a refugee in Georgia, Romania, and Yemen. In 2010, a United Nations refugee program allowed her to go to the US. It was after planting roots in South Carolina that Fairoozan began her paper quilling journey.
The dynamic art form of paper quilling involves taking strips of paper and rolling them into different shapes to create detailed designs. The result looks just like a regular painting, with each strip representing a brushstroke.

Festival Gardens. Lomo LC-A+. Fuji Velvia 100F.
Since the closure of the International Garden Festival in the 1980's the site near Otterspool Prom had become derelict. Whilst the main hall was used to house an amusement park before being demolished the rest of the area was neglected.
It was not until 2012 when the site was reopened to the public as Festival Gardens and, in the beginning it looked quite nice. When i visited earlier this month things where not so rosey. The main lake was empty and full of mud and the pavilion looked like it could do with more than a lick of paint.

it's so obviously racialised how the stereotypical working class areas of england are the deindustrialised towns of northern england and not like, east london or any other deprived working class areas of england with significant (if not majority) migrant and/or non-white populations. also very convenient to reinforce the liberal notion of the working class being just racist homophobic white lads

Doomed to never know where anything in the UK is. What do you mean Birmingham is that far south? It should be up by Manchester. Speaking of. Why are Manchester and Liverpool that close? They're basically kissing
