Hello friends! If you've been to my website recently, you've noticed it has a new look, including a new logo. Previously the logo had only one glyph: the Celtic trinity circle. Now it has two glyphs: The Celtic trinity has moved a little to the left to make room for an ensō — an image from Zen calligraphy of an open circle. While this does not mean I am forsaking Christianity for Buddhism, it does mean that I continue to value the beauty and insight of Buddhist wisdom ("dharma") and like so many Christians before me (e.g., Thomas Merton), I continue to find that my discipline as a practitioner of Christian centering prayer is enhanced by my ongoing study of Buddhist teachings. While there are only two glyphs on my logo, they really represent three dimensions of spirituality. The glyph on the left (the "western" glyph) really combines Celtic and trinitarian (i.e., Christian) symbolism. As I'm sure you know, I have an abiding interest in Celtic spirituality on a holistic level, encompassing both the pre-Christian (pagan/earth-based) and Christian dimensions of spirituality. Now, I've added the ensō to the right (the "eastern" glyph) to balance the Celtic, trinitarian, cataphatic glyph with this more austere, apophatic, Zen-inspired circle. So these two glyphs convey some of the paradoxes at the heart of the mystical life. Western and Eastern. Theistic and non-theistic. Christian and Buddhist. Pagan and Christian. Cataphatic (sensual) and apophatic (silent). Material and spiritual. Contemplative and meditative. Trinity and Unity. The list could go on. Notice also: the Celtic/Christian glyph rests above the word "Anam" (soul) while the Zen/ensō glyph rests above the word "Chara" (friend). This is a subtle acknowledgement that as Christ is the soul of my soul, I receive the Buddha as a friend of friends. I need to move into ACCEPTANCE lol. I wish I could just stay in headcanon but denial is not how I’m wired at least not presently (not saying anyone else is in denial, it’d just feel like that for me.) The writers DID this ending, I’ve been reminding myself lately. At some point they sat around, editors too, and decided this was how they wanted it to end. If I just face this fact head on maybe I can let go. They may not have all been in agreement but this was their art and this is what they chose. Didn’t jsuds say in an interview that the ending would make us happy, sad, and furious? He knew.

(their kith is sluagh, and sluagh are always very connected to death). daytime, nighttime, makes no difference to them. they like to keep the graves company, particularly those who receive few to no other visitors. sometimes they leave single flowers or stacks of pebbles, sometimes they simply sit there and exist as a reminder that i remember, so you are not forgotten.
