Thank you all so much for the kind words on my dark!Mae AU! Here’s another painting for it, this time featuring Elrond as he dances at Maedros’ dark fae court, similar to how Lúthien danced for Morgoth XDD In the same vein, Elrond (and Elros; he’s hanging around there somewhere) is trying to lull Maedros into a sense of security/ease.

I imagine Elrond’s dance is close to a ballet style, hence his pointe-like shoes. That said, I wanted to practice with perspective for this painting, and got some awesome feedback from the Artists of Arda discord chat, but ultimately set that version aside and went with this! I do feel that this version has a better composition story-wise: Maedros wants to keep Elrond close, and won’t let him dance too far away.

Also, while I was drawing Maedros’ guards, I realized that they kinda resemble my designs for Maglor and Celegorm ... Which led to the idea that Maedros subconsciously surrounds himself with people who look like his dead family :’’’’D Angst ahoy! loll

For this painting, I referenced the setting of the Swan Lake ballet, starring Natalia Osipova, specifically Odile’s Black Swan solo before the queen and her court. And the first version of this painting is under the cut, if you want to see:

Okay, so it's not actually Barbie-themed, but it's pink and I've named it "Barbie Reads Fanfiction," so it's close enough. 🤗💗

I'm not a coding expert by any means so I spent an ungodly amount of time trying to get this right precious time that could've gone into my actual fic 😭 I was also bored lol

Since I can't just make this public without Ao3 admin approval, I'm going to share it below in case you want to use it yourself! Feel free to change the code however you see fit.

If it's not showing up like in the screenshots above, I've also included a screenshot of the values I inputted into the Wizard to enter in addition to the CSS code. It says that CSS code would override the Wizard, though I'm not positive if that's what happened or if the changes just merged.

i'm so sick of people who use the fact that mabel is very much like bill (yes, true!) and that bill even likes mabel (again, yes, true!) and understands her in some ways (again yes!!! true!!!!!!!!!! what was the bubble but a party that never ends with a host that never dies?) and then twist it to fuel their mabel hate. like for one, every pines family member has some deep commonalities with bill because he's an effective villain and plays off the heroes of the story so well! but ALSO because it completely disregards how their core philosophies about the world and people around them differ and it bums me out

i have said this before, exactly like this, and i will say it again. the main difference between bill and mabel is that bill finds the universe and the people in it constricting and dull and frustrating while mabel sees the beauty in dull people and things and sees them as full of potential. bill sees something boring, he destroys it, mabel sees something boring, she gets out her glitter glue. mabel is so filled to the brim with love and affection for others and such a wild desire to make everyone, including herself, happy at all times, and bill is trying so hard to be happy that he deliberately hurts people, ruins his own life, ruins the lives of everyone around him and then doesn't understand why he's so miserable. like these two are fascinating because they are both remarkably similar and WILDLY different and, most importantly, they are interesting to look at as foils because mabel is a good person

When I was looking for more characters to add to this AU (especially female characters, because let’s face it, I’m seriously lacking in that department so far, and I can only blame Star Wars for that until a certain point, after a while it’s just on me) a very kind anon suggested to me that Aphra would be a great choice for Charon’s role, so here she is! (Except I totally forgot to add a pouch/satchel to her side overflowing with scrolls and other looted artifacts… someone please remind not to forget that again, because as soon as I hit the post button here, I’m pretty sure I will 😅) so here she is, as a very red rough sketch for now for the Hades AU, ready to try and extort Din in exchange for some information on the sunshine farm boy Jedi he is looking for :3
