Brandon Stark and Barbrey Ryswell

modern theon gets electrocuted by his strawberry mango lollipop sizzle flavored vape on the clock at his minimum-wage fast food job and passes out and hits his head on a shelf of molding bread and barbrey (shift manager) wakes him up by burning him with the end of the cigarette she always has in the corner of her mouth and forces him to take orders even though he’s actively concussed and seizing and when it’s time for him to go home he wraps balon’s 30 year old truck around a tree because he’s seeing double and he calls asha for help she picks him up and drives him to the er and steals the bars of hospital soap while her brother’s brain is leaking out of his ears and balon writes him out of the will for the whole truck thing but by god does theon clock in for his shift the next day. roose (store manager) lets him sleep on the floor if he promises to not tell the police about the time ramsay locked him in the walk-in for three hours and jacked off on the other side.

Birth and blood accorded him a seat upon the dais at the end of the high table, beside a wall. To his left sat Lady Dustin, clad as ever in black wool, severe in cut and unadorned.

will be forever angry at the hbo show for giving lady stoneheart’s vengeance to stealthkiller arya, for leaving out cersei lannister’s well-rounded volatility in lieu of power-hungry dany, for replacing barbrey dustin’s manipulation and scheming with ice-queen-girlboss sansa. they took away our milfs… they took away our milfs and replaced them with YA girlies.

I absolutely hated my previous disney villain concept art of her so I redid it but then my gd white pen was fully dried up. just pretend the solid black areas have some kind of detail

Really fascinating "attempted seduction" type flavour to the conversation between Roose and Theon as they travel to Barrowton. Obviously Roose wants Theon cleaned up a bit because he's bringing him to Barbrey Dustin as part of their plan to solidify Ramsay's claim via fake Arya, but his offer of a bath and some fine clothes ("Would you like that?", "Would you prefer to dress in silk and velvet? There was a time when you were fond of such, I do recall") coming on the heels of his story of raping Ramsay's mother under the lords right to the first night creates a fascinating parallel. As if Ramsay is the miller, Theon is his wife, and Roose is here to claim what he's owed. Especially as he chooses to flatter Theon, by placing him highest in the Theon-Roose-Ramsay hierarchy. Everything Ramsay has, Roose gave him. But according to Roose here, everything he has, Theon gave him. And from Theon's suspicious and frightened reaction it seems he reacts to this parallel on some level too.

It's a really interesting insight into Rooses character. He is attempting to manipulate Theon's (forced) loyalty here, but he does it in a way that perhaps belies his coldness, and implies he is somewhat more ruled by petty jealousy towards his horrifying son that it appears at first glance. He's not unaffected.

It's a crack in his armour, potentially, and it highlights another weakness. By fetching Theon, bringing him to Barrowton, naming him and handing him over to Barbrey Dustin's care he essentially "gives away" Theon, in the same way that Theon later does for Jeyne Poole (as Arya) when she marries Ramsay. But this parallel is unnoticed by Roose and Theon, and only available to the reader. Yet Barbrey seemingly upholds it, bringing Theon into her confidence, albeit in a limited manner, from here on out, and under her protection against Roose by ruling him out as "the killer" in Winterfell later too. Again unnoticed by Roose, who never doubts her.

But perhaps he should. Maybe he's overestimated the importance of nursing grudges, because he's blinded by his own against his son.

I can’t wait until ADOS/TWOW when Barbrey meets the Stark kids and Sansa hits her with those big blue eyes and earnestly expresses her sympathy to Barb after learning her father wouldn’t bring her husband’s bones back like “🥺🥺🥺 why would he do that??? that’s so awful I’m so sorry!!! 🥺🥺🥺” and Arya and Bran absolutely EAT UP the Maester’s Conspiracy when she tells them about it and start compiling their own evidence to present to her and Rickon bites a Bolton or Frey about something idk— and then she hears about Jon and the baby swap and she’s like “THERE’S THE NED STARK INFLUENCE I KNEW IT the rest of you kids can stay tho”

Barbrey is the number one (#1) ☝️yapper in Westeros and she doesn’t get the respect she deserves for carrying the weight of that title.
