Some notes: All very subjective of course and the one film per director rule applies as it ever does. It is both a boon and a curse!
There were a few directors, Márta Mészáros, Joseph Losey, Oz Perkins, for example where I watched a few of their films and it was difficult to put one above the other, and then there’s Hong Sang-soo. I watched a LOT of Hong at the start of the year and of course the “joke” about Hong is that all his films are the same. I liked them all so the idea that Night and Day is really the best can be taken with a big pinch of salt. There’s a couple of short films in there but I don’t differentiate. If I like a film, if I think it’s good, it doesn’t matter how many minutes it is.

Hunters (2020)
Una emocionante serie de venganza protagonizada por Al Pacino.
Si eres fanático de las películas de acción y los dramas históricos, entonces Hunters es definitivamente una serie que debes agregar a tu lista de reproducción.
La serie se desarrolla en la década de 1970 y sigue a un grupo de cazadores de nazis liderado por el legendario actor Al Pacino. La trama de la serie es emocionante y llena de giros inesperados que te mantendrán al borde de tu asiento de principio a fin.
La serie comienza con la introducción de Jonah Heidelbaum (interpretado por Logan Lerman), un joven judío que se une al grupo de cazadores de nazis después de que su abuela es asesinada por uno de ellos. A medida que la trama avanza, los cazadores descubren una conspiración aún más grande y peligrosa que amenaza al mundo entero, y se dan cuenta de que su misión es mucho más importante de lo que originalmente creían.
El elenco de Hunters es impresionante. Además de Al Pacino y Logan Lerman, la serie cuenta con la participación de actores talentosos como Jerrika Hinton, Josh Radnor y Carol Kane. La química entre los actores es excelente y la actuación de Al Pacino es especialmente destacable, ya que aporta una gran cantidad de experiencia y carisma al papel de Meyer Offerman, el líder de los cazadores.
Pero lo que hace que Hunters sea realmente una serie destacable es su habilidad para equilibrar la acción emocionante con una profundidad emocional y política. La serie explora temas importantes como el antisemitismo, la discriminación y la justicia, mientras mantiene a los espectadores pegados a la pantalla con escenas de pelea bien coreografiadas y una trama que se va desvelando poco a poco.
En cuanto a mi calificación, le doy a Hunters un 9 sobre 10. La serie es emocionante y bien escrita, y su elenco es estelar. La clasificación de edad recomendada es de 18 años o más debido a la violencia y el lenguaje fuerte. Hunters está disponible exclusivamente en Amazon Prime Video, así que si aún no tienes una cuenta, ¡es hora de que te registres y disfrutes de esta emocionante serie!

What is this?
As you may recall, since 2019/2020, Honorable Exemptions are given to games whereby they would of been included in the Top 20 however they are disqualified due to certain factors - be it remakes or remasters too closely resembling their original versions or being in Early Access (fully playable and sold) for 2 years or more. They are NOT Honorable Mentions since Honorable Mentions implies games which did not quite make 20th place but instead 21st onwards.
What is Baldur's Gate 3 then? Initially it is an Honorable Exemption too however, unlike every other Honorable Exemption before it, this would have easily been the 1st place spot and likely 1st among many other years too - it transcends positions thus creating a new rule - The ZERO rule.
Zero - 0, in traditional context, represents no value - nothing. However in THIS context it means quite the opposite - it is to represent something before any value is given to the Top 20 - such as 1st place. It precedes it in priority - it takes supreme precedence - NOTHING is before it and it is absolute in its value. I could of used the 'infinite' value but I felt it further confuses the idea of numerical structure.
A better way to look at this is to consider what is 1st on a given year being the recommended game to play 1st. If you already played or have no interest in 1st then go to the 2nd choice until 20th. Anything not in the Top 20 of the year you decide for yourself out of personal preference versus objectivity. Baldur's Gate 3 is 0 because it MUST precede a 1st. It goes beyond calling it Game of the Year though you can call it this if you want I think you're undervaluing it.
In what people consider to be one of the greatest years for gaming it is only fitting one of the greatest games is among this year. If this is all still confusing just consider it a Top 21 with Baldur's Gate 3 as 1st instead.
Do not expect this ZERO rule to happen again for awhile. Hold me to my words and we'll see. Until next time!

Some notes: If not for tne one film to one director.rule there would have been more Mike Leigh in the list, it was very hard to choose, but I think Naked was the right choice. I’m one of those people who likes to re-watch films I really enjoy quite a lot and looking back there are some films which reappear fairly often on these Top20 lists - and there are a couple this time - but that’s just the way it is!
