🌹
Why howdy there!! Thanks for the rose! 🙏💖
For you I've got a snippet from a Boom fic I'm working on!
Sticks frowned and moved toward her makeshift kitchen, setting her kettle on the stove. “I don’t like that, Sonic. That’s never happened before…. I suspect–”
“It’s not aliens.”
“Aliens!”
Sonic hung his head and groaned. “Just gimme the tea, Sticks.”
“I’m just saying. Any missed chunks of time? Funky little burns?”
“No. And no crop circles outside my hut either.”
Send me a 🌹 and I'll respond with a random sentence from a wip!

Hi! I give you this Stobotnik fankid I made a while ago :'y
She's Sofia --or Ivania or some other name ending in 'ia'-- Robotnik (coolest last name)
It's a compilation and also there's some Stone for practice bc I have no idea how to draw him pipipi Eggman is easier bc it's just his Sonic Boom design (I love it)
Some stuff about this universe under the cut!
(Btw if there's incongruencies is bc I can't make up my mind about the facts whwhw)
-Robotnik and Stone are married, very much married. Cartoon villains in love, I love that for them.
-["MARTHA I'M COMING HOME SWEETIE-"] Mixing up the movie things and the whatever's going on in the Sonic Boom, so Robotnik was gone for eight months and when he's back she's already born.
>Also the drawing is a reference to Icarly's "Whatcha got there?" "A smoothie" but she was clearly asking about the ostrich Spencer brought with him.
>Alternatively, Eggman's there and they go through the journey together yippiee. Choosing names, making evil parenting plans and whatever, being their idiot selves.
(After celebrating because they're good news actually) "I want a boy or a girl-" (Eggman) "Yeah me too." (Stone) "-and we should name them a single, worth of remembering name! Like... Eggette for a girl and Eggson for a boy." "I'm not letting you name them any of that, doctor..." "Okay, then how about Beyonce for a girl and-"
>They wouldn't have kids (?? maybe? I don't really know, I only know sonic boom and the movie :'U)- but she was probably the 1% the birth control warns you about. Also, Stobotnik got a very active seggsual life, and I'm imagining she came to be from a quickie over the desk, why not.
>Helpful diagram of Eggman + Stone kissing and then = baby. They were in work hours.
-In the one where he comes back and the baby's already there, Eggman does a terrible job as a father the few first months, but then he gets the hang of it and it's not so bad.
>He gets projectile vomited on and he's immediately asking to get an abortion (the baby's already born) (he didn't give birth to her), Stone says no anyways.
>"Surprisingly, I'm a good father" he thinks one day and it's because he's still very much an orphan here with no frame of comparation or example aside from researching the matter.
-In the one where they wait for her together, he does all the research necessary in all those months, absolutely refusing in doing an average job in that matter, he's the great Ivo Robotnik c'mon. He excels at anything and he'll be a great father (jk he's terrified of fucking up).
-The Stobotnik family is an evil but loving family, like the bears in Puss in Boots whwh criminal family✨
-For the funny of it, Sonic and Eggman got a sort of relationship like in Sonic Boom, so sometime maybe our favorite boy, Tails and Knuckles had to look after their child.
-Also since Knuckles broke Stone's and Robotnik's hands with their handshake, let's have him handle the baby with the most careful grip ever, just to demonstrate that he didn't have to grab their hands that hard aksdjask
-She's a big fan of Sonic and friends (Sonic the Hedgehog, not Sonic Wachowski, the second guy hadn't done even half the things she admires him for, but no one has the heart to tell her when she's a kid). Has a bunch of merch and all the comics of Sonic the Hedgehog.
>When she's a teenager she proudly uses her Sonic backpack in the same way Deadpool uses his Hello Kitty backpack.
-BTW Sonic, Knuckles and Tails are all brothers and Maddie and Tom's kids bc that's the best idea ever made.
-ALSO I'm definitely gonna draw that scene where Knuckles was about to put the baby in the blender and Sonic shouts THE CHILI DOG NOT THE BABY. Some day, you'll see pipipi.
-SAGE was created for various reasons, to be her sister (since she wouldn't stop asking for one but neither Stone nor Robotnik were willing in raising another human kid, thanks very much), to protect her, and also to answer the tedious "why?" questions that neither father had the patience for (A+ parenting right there). Maybe she was used for the original purpose too idk (I don't know that sonic game where she debuts).
>The child's delighted about having a sister, then she grows up and SAGE doesn't, so she has a little sister.
>METAL SONIC TOO MAYBE? Perfect lil american family, the two happily married parents and their three kids (one human girl, an IA and a robot clone of their alien enemy).
-On her early months she was called Pebble, because she really was a mini Stone, Robotnik went along with it (bc he also looked at her and only saw his husband whw) until she was a little older and they started calling her by her name.
>Alternatively, since Eggman was gone, Stone waited for him to return in hopes of choosing together a name for their child, and Pebble worked as a placeholder since she was just a bebi.
>Alternatively alternatively, Eggman came up with the nickname. ROCK-ONNAISSANCE 🗣️ also yeah I know he was going crazy from the mushroom stuff, but he's not above making silly puns, he's a dad now and also he's naturally silly.
(NGL I really gotta make up my mind about how it all happened ajsdkad)
-She's a spoiled kid and also a little menace, unintentionally evil, she can't help it.
>Good-hearted too sometimes, she loves Sage and does her best to protect her back (it's not necessary but it's appreciated anyways).
-Robotnik calls himself 'daddy' way too much in the live-action movies to ignore it, so he's daddy and Stone's dad (dada when she was younger).
>"These are my daddies!" (points to what's clearly two villains -but also good fathers-)
-She has Robotnik's eyes but as big as Stone's. They're the lethal-est sad puppy eyes ever (they work wonders on both parents and other people) (both men got beautiful dark brown eyes with visible eyelashes fight me).
>Look at Eggman's silly eyelashes:
Tumblr media
>Also, you know that picture of Lee Majdoub with the beautiful everything? I think he was wearing eyeliner so my Stone wears eyeliner too in contrast to Eggman's dark circles under his eyes JDJS😭
-She's the five-year-old that made Sonic fear them because 'they can be so cruel when they sense weakness' (she was brutally honest as any young kid is).
-Stone and Robotnik got Gomez and Morticia Addams kinda parenting. They see their child beating up someone and they're like:
"What did we do wrong?" (Stone while shaking his head in disappointment) "I know... she lacks resourcefulness." (Eggman) "Exactly, there's her baseball bat right there, why doesn't she use it?"
-Remember that Shadow said in a game that he wouldn't mind taking a candy from a baby? (fandub I think but still) This comes in handy when neither Tails, Sonic or Knuckles want to upset the kid (so Shadow does it instead).
-She plays sports too because she got too much energy. In each of them she loses her patience. She grabs the football and hauls it at the nearest team member, she throws her baseball bat to the ground and starts beating up whoever threw the ball that she missed, she stomps in frustration if she loses, she's great at dodgeball (sends her classmates to the infirmary).
-Throws tantrums and stuff and overall's an annoying kid if she's upset. Eggman's like UGH WHY'S SHE LIKE THIS?? and Stone's like Because of you, doctor (terrible temperament runs in the family and also Robotnik just spoiled her too much).
-I'm kinda dressing her up in the clothes that existed in my mind that supposedly Eggman wore (the weird dress-like jacket with the big zipper in the middle). Under her jacket there's a dress in the same pattern as the original Eggman's clothes, also she wears a baby onesie like that too.
-When she's older she's definitely proud of her fathers, but she doesn't appreciate the rumors that she's prone to go power-crazy like Robotnik did. Especially because it may be true, but what do they know.
-For the irony, she can't stand drinking coffee, but loves the smell of it because it reminds her of home (omg).
-THEY HAVE A PET CAT like I read in some fics and her name is Robot and she's a lil shit and also grumpy like Robotnik.
Tumblr media
>Maybe she brings her alive mice to experiment on all sort of stuff (like Pávlov and his dogs and the guy Skinner with his mice and cats (??))
-She gets to hang out with Sonic and friends under the condition of annoying him as much as possible. So, she complies. (She loves Sonic the Hedgehog, but she loves making her fathers happy more).
-Very smart kid but not to the level of Tails or Robotnik at that age, she's just got very good memory and learning skills and knows a lot of stuff ever since she was a little kid. More like a Matilda-kinda intelligence.
-She's a scientist when she grows up too but the kind that makes evil potions and serums and stuff aksjdk probably (chemistry things? biochem idk). She can make silly little robots for the fun of it but it's not her passion, unlike Robotnik and Stone's. PROBABLY. I'm still deciding.
-BTW LOOK (it says 'carefully crafted ploy to distract space porcupines')
Tumblr media
>While Eggman's there with the baby and Sonic in front of him going AWWW BABY BOO and making her laugh, Stone is sneaking up on him holding a chair above his head to knock him out.
THAT'S IT THANKS FOR READING ✨✨

The Sonic Fandom both here and on Ao3 have me in a CHOKEHOLD like DAMN I’m reading so much fic and looking at so much fan art (all sonadow for fics lol)
I’m currently reading this fic called Agent Blue by CaffeineClouds and I literally read like 12 chapters in no more than 2 hours and there are 21 chapters total and I am having a great time, this is the most hyperfixed I’ve been on anything, I feel genuine joy. It’s about how Sonic joins Team Dark after Frontiers and it is so cool!!! It deals a lot with PTSD and trauma so keep yourself safe, but there are lots of funny, heartfelt, and/or nice moments in between.
I also read a story called I don’t wanna see you smile by ktyo0309 that had me teary eyed, I was almost crying aloud, I was personally hurt and comforted by it. Shadow comforts Sonic. I am inconsolable.
Additionally I read another shorter fic called In Which Boom Sonic buys a bed from IKEA by Commonseasponge which was SO FUNNY and SO CUTE, perfect for those who like an aroacespec partnership.
In case you’d also like to read them, I will reblog with links and put them in the Rec section of my bookmarks on my Ao3 account! My user is roony_roon
I also have written some fanfiction myself in the past and I might be continuing one or more of my fics soon 👀👀👀
Feel free to read them if you’d like!

The Worst Crossover To Ever ‘Cross Over’ Pt.2
See, Danny isn’t terribly surprised with his predicament. And by that, he means that he is wholly unsurprised that he has to fake who he is. A fourteen year old kid working, in this day and age? Unlikely, he thinks. So he decides to pretend to be fifteen, what an easy fix. But that doesn’t help with Sonic’s side of the problem. Sure, Sonic gets confused for a kid, but..how old is he?
As soon as the thought surfaces, Danny opens his mouth to speak, turning to look at Sonic as they walk around, searching for a somewhat acceptable abandoned building or something similar to hide out in for now. “Uh, how old are you, exactly?” Danny asks, with little hesitation. Sonic shrugs; “Old enough to legally drink in some countries- why, worried about something?” Danny feels his face turn a bit white. Wow, his appearance does not match his age. With a nervous smile, Danny responds with, “Yeah, dunno if you could get a job looking like that. I’m fourteen, and even I look older than you.” Sonic coughs awkwardly. “I’m gonna have to work on that, aren’t I? What an unlucky day it is,” he says, with a yawn. Shelving that problem in order to focus on the most important one, the two continue to wander the streets, looking for something to temporarily call “home”.
It isn’t too long before they find a suitable place. Dark, dreary, just like everywhere else; but it’s far more exaggerated, and even dirtier than the rest of the city. Some old graffiti here and there, a broken window or two. Not too shabby on the inside, still has running water and an AC. It makes Danny wonder just how old this building is and just how long it’s been since it was last lived in.
Sonic inspects every nook and cranny of the building, as if checking for safety violations. It appears to be an old office building, with kitchen necessities in what might’ve been a break room, and running water in the bathrooms. He investigates alone, namely for “Danny’s safety”, he says, but it makes one think. The amount of spiders he’s killed seems to point to a different conclusion..but that’s of no matter.
After looking at every floor, Sonic finally decides which one they’ll be staying on. Something that’s just a cut above the rest, and also safe enough- the third floor, out of four. He waves Danny over to the cleanest spot in the spacious, main room, calling out, “Let’s sleep over here for now, since we kinda can’t clean anything yet. It looks a lot nicer here, away from the nasty corners.” Danny nods, agreeing in silence. It looks like they have a lot of work to do, as they both flop on the floor and try to sleep.
Danny, however, struggles to sleep. In an entirely new city, an empty building, with someone who he’s just been freshly acquainted with, trying to sleep on the cold, hard floor? That’s no easy feat, and he acknowledges this. So he comes to the most logical conclusion: why not check out the city from above, via Phantom form? In silence, he nods in agreement with his own thought, intrigued by his new possibilities. He’ll fly out and survey the town, enjoy the sunrise, if he’s awake for that long- try to make this place feel a little bit like home. Familiarize himself with it, perhaps. It sounds like a good plan, no? So he acts.
He whispers to himself, after assuring that Sonic is asleep, “Going ghost!” He transforms in silence. A little reminder of who he is, the whispers of who he was only hours ago, come to him via his reference of his beginnings. It gives him a feeling of determination, a want to explore. A desire to protect this new friend he’s found, and the strangers of a place he’s newly discovered. Slowly slipping through the floor, intangibly, he floats out of the building, making himself invisible so as not to spook anyone else who may be out at night.
In the night sky, he soars through the clouds as he takes in the layout of the city. It’s large, dark, and..full of crime, which makes a lot of sense in such a poverty-stricken area, but.. it has an air of abnormality. Suddenly, he hears some horrible sounds. Shrill, shrieking laughter booms out from a warehouse a few blocks away, his ears wishing for the silence of seconds before to return. Although he doesn’t truly want to approach, his obsession to protect those in need draws him to the source of the sound. The closer he gets, the more off everything seems. And..are those furries on the top of that building? What have I gotten myself into, he thinks, with an accompanying facepalm. Oh, boy.
Back in the cold, dreary office building, Sonic wakes up, restless. He feels terrible..he turns towards Danny, wanting to check on him, before quickly finding out that he’s not even present. What a fantastic day this has been. Sonic feels his heart pumping, ready for a run. He has to find Danny, to make sure he’s okay. Unless..he left of his own accord? Shit, what if he actually is weirded out by me..he said something about the unusualness of a guy like me showing up, didn’t he?! Sonic struggles to decide what to do. He knows Danny could be in need, he knows he’s young. And, from what he’s gathered, he’s a bit odd too, but if he needs help, of course Sonic should jump on in for him! They’re “partners in crime” now, aren’t they?
Despite his conscience screaming at him to go, he still struggles to make the choice. What if Danny really didn’t mean anything he said? But..he listens to that loud, desperate part of him. He doesn’t want to lose the only person he’s found here. If he can save or help this kid, someone who accepts him in this strange new place, that’s just what he’ll do.
So, against his “better judgement”, he rushes off, speeding around the town to find Danny. If anything, he should be where it’s quietest or where it’s loudest, since both are eeriest. As Sonic zooms off, going incredibly fast so as not to be seen clearly, he is particularly careful to check suspicious, disturbing areas.
Not long after he began his run, he finds Danny. But it’s quite the weird situation to be in.. cause Danny’s colors are inverted now? Amd there’s this weird bat guy a few buildings away, with some friends, too.. and a fucking..clown?! What is this shit, bad writing??!

Eggman got SO mad at Orbot and Cubot that he chased them across islands hahaha not at all because I messed up locations and just drew whatever the hell I wanted hahaha no way.
I took a lot of liberties with this mini. I mean look at those robots. Those don't look like robots! And Eggman's ship... totally forgot what it looked like halfway into drawing this and could I be bothered to look up a reference?? Who has time for that when I was too busy embarrassing the good doctor??
Also something special under the cut!
EDIT: Color fixed!

HAPPY WHOLESOME SONIC AND TAILS WEDNESDAY BABEYYYYY!!!!!!!!
It's been like a million years since I've actually been able to post a fic for Wednesday, but I've got one!! I've finally got one!!
HERE YA GO, GUYS!!!
---------------
"Girl Talk"
(this takes place in the Sonic Boom universe, after the episode "Cowbot")
It had only been yesterday when Sonic and Tails had found themselves spending a day and a half over at their lair of their supposed arch-nemesis, Dr. Eggman, to help him repair his defenses. Sonic still wasn't sure why they'd bothered helping the guy, considering he was always trying to destroy him and his pals.
Well, he supposed that was a hero's duty. Help everyone. Even if they didn't deserve it at all.
Beyond the fact that they were helping their enemy, probably the thing that had caught Sonic the most off guard was Eggman's completely unexpected question at the campfire.
"What's up with you and Amy?"
He'd had absolutely no idea how to respond to that. In fact, he'd never responded. He'd just made some lame attempt to change the subject, though he no longer remembered what he'd said to do so.
What was even more nerve-wracking? Tails had looked just as interested to hear the answer.
Sonic stared at the ceiling of his shack as he reclined uneasily in his hammock. Pfffft, he had no reason to get so flustered over such a silly question. He was Sonic the Hedgehog! He feared nothing! He especially didn't fear something as simple as love, and attachment, and relationships . . . ? Right?!
"Why do you look like you just got back from Meh Burger?" a familiar voice called teasingly, and he jolted upwards, almost toppling off the hammock.
Tails was walking through his empty doorframe, a gleam in his bright blue eyes and his twin tails waving up and down behind him.
"It's nothing!" Sonic protested, standing up and stretching, overall trying to act as casual and relaxed as possible. "Just thinking."
"About whaaat?" The tone couldn't get any more teasing. "About who?"
"I don't know what you mean," he tried to bluff, but the little fox's eyes glinted at him knowingly.
Sonic sighed heavily.
His little brother knew him far too well.
"Fine, fine, fine." Sonic waved a hand, then glanced around nervously. "Can we just take this somewhere more . . . private?"
"We can go to my lab?" Without waiting for an answer, Tails turned and helicoptered away back towards his workshop. Sonic took off after him, reaching the place at least five seconds before his brother did.
"So . . . what is up with you and Amy?" Tails asked once the door was closed and the windows were locked, quite clearly repeating Eggman's words.
"Amy's just a really good friend!" Sonic tried to protest. "Yeah, yeah, she's got a thing for me, but that doesn't mean I reciprocate!"
Tails shot him a look. "So you know she likes you, and yet you don't discourage her, you hang out with her alone, you're always making jokes and puns around her and waiting for her reaction, and you even go to the movies together?"
"Those are all normal friend activities!" Sonic practically screeched, his voice high-pitched with desperation. "Sure, I like being with her. She's a great person. And she's a great friend. And a cool fighter. And she's strong. And independent. And . . . well . . ."
Sonic trailed off, realizing his argument no longer was making sense, all he'd done was go on a tangent about all the things he liked about Amy, and Tails' smirk was as smug as ever.
But when his brother finally replied, it wasn't as teasing as he'd expected. "She makes you happy, doesn't she? The way Zooey makes me happy?"
"You're not old enough to be giving me advice on girls," Sonic grumbled.
"I'm not the one running from my feelings," Tails pointed out.
Sonic made a frustrated noise.
"Okay fiiine, I guess I do kinda sorta like her. So what?"
"So . . . ?!" Tails bounced up and down a couple times. "You should go ask her out!"
"But I don't actually know what I'm doing when it comes to girls!" Sonic complained. "Yeah, Amy's not the only girl to have ever liked me, but I've never actually had a girlfriend. How are you even supposed to treat them? And doesn't being in a relationship mean getting tied down somewhere and not having freedom anymore? I'm not even sure I want a relationship, Tails."
"That's not what relationships are about," his brother argued. "They're about love, duh. Choosing to love and care for that one person. Finding happiness and contentment in each other's company. Putting their needs before yours, because they're special to you." Tails' blue eyes gleamed. "Isn't Amy special to you?"
"Well, I guess, yeah," Sonic mumbled, kicking at an imaginary rock on the ground. "I just . . . I don't think I'm ready for a girlfriend, at least not yet. Can't I just give it some time?"
Tails snickered. "Of course you can. There's no rush. I just wanted to make sure you understood this stuff."
"This feels backwards." Sonic sighed, but grinned. "Okay. Ya got me, lil bro. But!" He jumped up and grabbed his brother by the wrist. "Everything that was just said is entirely confidential! Got it? No breaking the bro code!"
"I know, I know!" Tails laughed, squirming away as Sonic started playfully poking him all over. "Understood!"
----------------
🥰 this'll be posted on AO3 ASAP! (It's a busy day for me haha) it's already posted on Wattpad if you follow me and the one-shots book there. 😜👌

Reading sonic fanfic again and decided to reread that one sonic fic i wrote and its actually a banger?! When i first posted it i wasnt that proud of it but dang my grammar and syntax and pov set up were near perfect i got Sonic's character spot on despite only having 2 sonic media under my belt at the time and also the dialogue (comebacks) i wrote for Shadow surprised me in how accurate it is to his character and then you get into my love for anthropology and it raises this fic up to A-list status for me. Theres only two things i would change out of the whole fic now
So shoutout to me heres the fic (sonic boom) if you like "trapped together and forced to work together to get out" trope you should give it a shot

The Curious Case of Miles Prower
Okay, so because I should be working on the next chapter of Fall of the Status Quo, or the next part of my Eclipse intro story, I instead wrote this. Because I can’t stop thinking about the adorable-ness that is the de-aged Tails art of @dakt37
Seriously, it’s freaking adorable. Check it out if you haven’t already.
This isn’t much, but I thought it was a good intro to the plot.
~~~~~
Sonic stared at the little two-tailed fox, currently curled and napping on the floor.
“Tails,” he muttered to himself, a tired groan mixed in with the words. “What have you done to yourself?”
The boy didn’t answer, instead curling into a tighter ball. His twin tails flicked at the tips, twitching with whatever dream the kit was having.
Running a hand down his face, Sonic heaved a sigh. His brilliant best friend slash adopted little brother usually took detailed notes about whatever invention or experiment he was working on at any given time. But sometimes—like this time, apparently—the fox got a little too caught up in his brainwork, and would only write notes once the burst of inspiration had faded.
Unfortunately, it would seem he’d never write those notes, now.
Because he was currently about three years old.
At least, that’s how old Sonic thought he was. He’d been about four when the hedgehog had originally found him, being bullied by some older kids for having an extra tail. Had he been this little then? The fox seemed littler now, but maybe it was because Sonic was older? He himself had only been about 11 when they’d met, so still just a little kid himself.
Was that only four years ago? Seemed like a much longer time. Seemed like they’d known each other forever.
Sonic sighed again, sitting heavily on a workbench stool. He glanced over the mess strewn across the bench itself—tools, papers, pencils, bits and bobs of various machines in various states of repair—and felt a sense of helplessness. “I have a system,” Tails had told him once. “I know it looks like a mess, but it makes sense to me. Don’t touch anything!”
Your ‘system’ leaves a lot to be desired, buddy, Sonic thought, glancing back at the kit on the floor. How can we fix this when we don’t even know what you were doing in the first place?
Tails gave a little squeak in his sleep, and Sonic’s ears twitched, instantly flicking toward him. The boy twitched, caught in the web of bad dreams, and a whine escaped his little throat.
Without thinking, Sonic bent to scoop the boy into his arms, bringing the kit up to cuddle against him. Tails curled tighter for a second, before uttering another squeak and turning his face into the soft fur of the hedgehog’s chest.
“You’re okay,” Sonic soothed, holding his now much littler brother close. “You’re safe. I’ve gotcha.”
Another sound left the boy’s throat, this time a kind of grunt. Then he uncurled, reaching his little arms around to cling to Sonic and hug him tight.
A lump formed in the hedgehog’s throat. Had Tails been this little back when Sonic first found him? At four, he must not have been much larger than this. What possessed him to think that he, at only 11, would be capable of taking care of someone else, especially one so young?
All their early adventures flittered through his mind then. The danger. The risks. Sure, he’d done his best to keep Tails safe and unharmed, but, again, he was ELEVEN YEARS OLD at the time. Not exactly an age that’s known for good ideas and sound decisions.
He thought about the kids around the village who were about that age, and his chest tightened. He wouldn’t trust any of them with a four year old, even in the confines of a village with other people around. Yet, he’d run around other islands, dragging a literal baby with him, without a second thought.
This stomach clenched at what could have happened. How many times Tails could’ve been hurt. Or worse. Because of his lust for adventure.
“I’m sorry, Tails,” Sonic said, his voice soft. He nuzzled Tails’ head, and the boy uttered a soft purr. “I haven’t been the best big brother. I just . . . didn’t know better. But I’ll make sure you’re taken care of now. I promise.”
Tails sighed, snuggling deeper into Sonic’s chest fur. His twin tails split, curling around either side of the hedgehog’s waist.
Sonic Boom - S3E16
Chapter title: Sinking Feeling
Summary: Finally, things seem to be going back to normal for our heroes. Unfortunately, for them, 'normal' involves dealing with Eggman's usual schemes…and this time is no exception. Simultaneously, Tails struggles to deal with the damage dealt to his plane during last episode's events. ((SO sorry this took me so long to upload!! As an apology, here's a double update for you all. Hope you enjoy!))
[Camera opens on Tails’s workshop, before cutting to the interior.]
Tails groaned, banging his head lightly against the side of his beloved plane. “Soniiiiiiiic, why are none of my fixes working? She’s still not acting right!”
The blue hedgehog in question hopped up from his seat on the other side of the room, where he’d been lounging and goofing around on his brother’s computer. “Uh, Tails? You do remember that out of the two of us, I am very much not the engineer here, right?”
“I know, I know, I just need a fresh perspective, or—or something! Anything! I’ve been trying all sorts of ways to repair the internal wiring, and nothing’s helping!”
Sonic frowned, looking over the plane with a critical eye. “You said it got busted up just a couple ‘a days ago, right? When we took it up to Roboken to help out Shadow?”
“Yeah. I’d never really expected an occasion where I needed to use the plane’s vertical grappling system for that length of time, and when I took off the undercarriage covering, it was a little bent out of shape. But it wasn’t hooked up to many of the main systems, so it shouldn’t have damaged anything. Unless…” Tails froze suddenly, his eyes growing very wide.
“You thought of something, pal?” Sonic asked, once the fox had stared off into space for an amount of time he found suitably concerning.
“Yes, but—that just can’t be it! If I’m right, then that means the grappling system damaged the motor that runs the entire plane! How were we even able to fly down from Roboken if that was the case?!” Tails rushed back over to the underside of his plane, rooting around amongst the wires. “I didn’t even check this because it seemed downright impossible!”
After a moment or two of searching, he went still. “Well. Looks like we sure did find the problem.” the fox sighed, stepping out from under the plane. “I’d found a way to use the extra heat from the combustion chamber to power the winch that controls the grappler—basically, I turned an inefficient thing into a helpful thing.” He simplified his explanation quickly when Sonic’s eyes threatened to glaze over, remembering that he wasn’t talking to another engineer. “But, because the system was attached to the motor, when it got pulled out of place, it dragged the motor out of alignment along with it. We just got lucky that when the grappler snapped back into place, it kind of shoved the motor back in there—but that was only a temporary fix, and it’d be incredibly unsafe to rely on it any longer!”
“Soooo…long story short, the plane can’t fly anymore?” Sonic asked, raising one eyebrow.
“Yeah.” Tails said sadly. “The plane can’t fly anymore.”
[Sonic reaches out and pats Tails’s shoulder awkwardly, while the fox looks up at his plane with drooping ears.]
[Cue intro sequence…which goes off without a hitch, just like last episode! Everybody gets their own cool intro, as per usual, plus the team shot at the end.]
[Dr. Eggman does his old villain reveal, complete with the green screen malfunctioning. However, this time it’s caused by a small electrical mishap, which transforms comically quickly into a full-blown electrical fire. Eggman looks like he’s extremely tired and strongly considering just giving up on the reveal entirely.]
[The intro then continues on, before ending with the title of this week’s episode.]
Later that morning, Tails could be found pacing back and forth on the sandy beach outside Knuckles’s house, muttering to himself. While he thought and planned, Knuckles and Sticks had a splash fight in the water, Amy read a nice novel under an umbrella, and Sonic…Sonic was burying Shadow under the sand. He had let the blue hedgehog dig him a hole and cover him up completely, since he didn’t need to breathe, and was enjoying his respite from the sun. (He was technically a computer, after all, and computers were notoriously incompatible with hot weather. Why he’d been given black fur in spite of this fact, he never understood.)
After Amy had made it through two chapters of her book, only to still have Tails pacing back and forth out of the corner of her eye, she sighed and sat up. Placing a bookmark in her book and laying it off to the side, she got to her feet and called her friend’s name. “Tails? Why don’t you come over and sit with me for a while?”
The fox didn’t respond, too lost in his thoughts to hear her, so she tried again. “Tails! Are you alright?”
When he failed to respond yet again, Amy stepped right into his path, forcing him to notice her or walk directly into her. She folded her arms, waiting for him to look up.
…as she probably should have expected, he instead ran into her and nearly knocked both of them over.
“Oh no! I’m so sorry, Amy, I didn’t see you there!” the fox exclaimed, practically wringing his hands as he looked up at her.
She sighed, smiling wanly down at him. “Tails, it’s perfectly alright…just please take a break from all your pacing and stressing. The beach is a place to relax, not to worry yourself more!”
He sighed, biting his lip with one of his small fangs. “I know, I just feel so bad that my baby can’t fly! She’s grounded, and there’s nothing I can think of to fix her.”
“Well, I’ve actually read that not consciously thinking about a problem can help your brain figure it out faster.” Amy said brightly, always eager to provide her friends with helpful advice. “It’s something about shifting the issue out of your conscious mind that helps people work out what’s wrong.”
“Wait, really? That’s kinda cool, honestly! I guess it couldn’t hurt to give it a try, especially if it means that I’ll get things fixed faster…” Tails conceded.
Right as he admitted that, Knuckles and Sticks came rushing out of the ocean, violently startling everyone else with the way they were shrieking their lungs out. “C-c-c-COLD!!” the badger wailed, diving onto the hot sand and splaying their limbs out. Knuckles followed suit, sighing in relief.
“Aw, don’t tell me you guys are scared of the water now!” Sonic complained. “I need all of you to keep an eye out for me when we’re dealing with that, not getting freaked out too!”
“First of all, Sticks said ‘cold’, not ‘aaaaah’, so we can safely presume that neither they nor Knuckles are frightened.” Shadow corrected him dryly, having sat up at all the noise. His usual smug behavior was slightly offset by all the sand still in his quills, though. “Second—you’re scared of water?”
Sonic froze up abruptly, his smile far too wide and strained. “Ahahaha, well, you see…”
“That’s not important right now.” Amy cut them off before they could start bantering and derail the situation entirely. “The ocean always feels cold compared to the sand, what’s so different about it now? Surely it can’t be that bad!” she insisted, walking over and dipping a toe in—only to pull it back with a yelp.
“That’s not cold, that’s practically freezing! What’s going on here?” she wondered aloud.
Moments later, her question was at least partly answered…when the ocean froze over entirely.
The entire team stared out at the ocean in disbelief, hardly able to process the sight of their beloved blue water now transformed into a mass of cold white ice. Sonic was perhaps the only one who wasn’t utterly horrified, muttering “I’m not sure if that’s better or worse…” to himself instead.
“Tails, can you analyze the frozen water?” Shadow asked after a moment, snapping everyone else out of their stupor. “We need to learn what caused this as quickly as possible.”
“Ah! Yes, right away!” The fox eagerly pulled out his multi-purpose device, shifting it into scanning mode and waving it over some of the ice. “Huh…this says the water has strangely high concentrations of liquid nitrogen. No wonder it froze over so fast, liquid nitrogen can freeze almost anything!”
“Now all we need to know is who did this and how to fix it, and we can get our beach back!” Amy said, punching a fist into her other hand.
Tails sighed. “To do that, we’re going to need to track the source of this nitrogen. And since we can’t see what’s causing it from here, we’re going to need to cross the ice.”
“We’re not gonna be walking out on that, right?” Sticks asked warily. “‘Cause we don’t know how thick that ice is, and I’m not about ta have it break under me and wind up back in there!”
“Yeah, sounds like we definitely, absolutely shouldn’t go out there. Like, ever.” Sonic blurted out quickly, clearly very eager not to risk his safety on anything even remotely water-related.
Tails’s ears drooped. “If my plane was working, we could just fly out and see what was the matter, but now, we won’t be able to search at all!”
Knuckles frowned, thinking hard. “What’s wrong with it again anyway?”
“The engine is completely busted. It’s unusable, and without it, nothing else will work!” Tails cried, frustrated. “It’s not exactly easy to find plane engines out here, and I set the Build-It Box to update before I knew I’d need it, so I can’t even use that!”
“What about your other plane?” Shadow asked. “I figured you just liked this one best, surely the other one is still functional at least?”
Everyone turned to stare at him. “His what now?” Sticks said, voicing what the entire team was thinking.
“The…the other plane.” Shadow said hesitantly, shifting his stance and crossing his arms tightly in response to all the eyes on him. “The purple one, the Tornado. I saw you using it while we fought L—that idiot snake.”
“Oh yeah!” Tails’s eyes widened in recognition. “It’s sad, but that one crashed and sank in the lake. It’s basically unrecoverable, unfortunately. We’d need to do some relatively delicate work to get the engine out, and we can’t pull that off while wearing our diving suits.”
Shadow raised an eyebrow at that. “And? I don’t need a diving suit.”
“Ohmygosh, you’re right!” Tails gasped, visibly perking up. “Does that mean you could get the engine out of the Tornado for us?”
“Indeed it does.” Shadow inclined his head slightly, a proud smile on his face.
“Well then, what are you guys waiting for?” Sticks asked. “Let’s get that thing so we can have our beach day back!”
[cut to commercials]
When the show returned, all six heroes were standing at the edge of the lake, looking down into its depths. Sonic was much farther back than everyone else, still having vivid memories of nearly drowning in this particular body of water.
Tails pointed down into the lake. “This is the side we climbed out on after the plane crashed, which means it must be closer to this end of the lake. How long can you stay underwater before things start to…go wrong?” he asked hesitantly.
“I’ve never tested it to that extent, but in theory, I can stay down for an indefinite period of time. The only issue would be if I sustain an injury deep enough to expose my wiring.” Shadow explained, weighing the screwdriver that Tails had given him in his hands.
“So just be careful down there, and everything should be fine, right?” Amy said, telegraphing her movements as she gently placed a hand on Shadow’s shoulder.
“Exactly.” Shadow said, smiling faintly at her concern. “Now then, I should probably get going before the ice grows any thicker.” And with that, he dove into the water. Sonic flinched and his eyes widened, standing on tip-toe in an effort to see better into the lake without actually having to get any closer.
Beneath the lake’s surface, Shadow swam deeper and deeper towards the bottom. The lake was strangely shaped—it was almost akin to a massive well, perfectly circular but also extremely deep. It took Shadow nearly a minute and a half of swimming just to make it to where the plane was mired in sand at the bottom. (Thankfully, the show was able to represent this in a carefully edited sequence of less than five seconds, otherwise precious airtime would have been wasted.)
He quickly managed to unscrew the paneling near the front of the plane, pulling it aside with ease to reveal the water-filled inner workings of the Tornado. And then, with slow, careful movements, he began to remove the engine from its housing.
Meanwhile, above the water, Sonic had already begun to pace back and forth on the sand.
“You know he’s going to be fine, right?” Amy asked. “He doesn’t even need to breathe down there.”
“Sure, he doesn’t have to breathe, but so many other things could go wrong! What if he gets zapped by the Tornado and shuts down? Or if he gets stuck in the wires and can’t swim back up? What if there’s quicksand and he’s sinking under it right now?!?” Sonic cried, his voice pitching higher and his steps getting faster with each new nightmare scenario.
Suddenly, Knuckles stepped in front of him and held the hedgehog’s upper arms lightly, effectively stopping him in his tracks. “Then we’ll go rescue him! The five of us together can get him out of any problem for sure.”
Sonic sighed, looking away. “I sure hope you’re right about that, Knux…”
Suddenly, his ears pricked up at a call from Tails. “Guys, look! I can see Shadow swimming back up now!”
Moments later, Shadow burst out of the lake, the jets from his skates vaporizing its surface into an impressive cloud of steam. Landing with a roll, he stood and presented one perfectly intact biplane engine to Tails with a self-satisfied grin.
“Woo-hoo!” the fox cheered. “I’ll install this right away, and then we can get to fixing the ocean!”
“Yay…more water…” Sonic muttered to himself, his smile shaky.
[cut to commercials again]
Once Tails had fixed up his plane, the team all climbed onto it, having to struggle only a little to all fit. Sonic was seated securely in the back seat, Amy and Knuckles took the wings, and Shadow and Sticks clung to the landing struts as the yellow biplane soared over the massive sheets of ice. “Do you see anything yet?” Tails shouted. “I can’t look for the machine, I have to focus on flying!”
Amy held a miniature pair of binoculars up to her eyes, squinting out at the horizon. Sticks did the same with her hands, while Shadow simply shook his head and increased the zoom on his sight slightly. Despite his advantages, however, it turned out to be Amy who found it first. “Tails, turn left! It’s out that way!” she cried, pointing off into the distance.
The fox fiddled with some settings on his plane, trying to scan for any strange electromagnetic readings…and suddenly, his scanner began to beep loudly. “Thanks, Amy! I’m definitely picking something strong up in that direction!”
As the team drew closer, Shadow frowned in an effort to make something out—and then rolled his eyes, pressing a palm to his forehead. “It’s the doctor.” he announced, rubbing at the space between his eyes in exasperation.
“I mean, who else would it really be?” Sonic quipped, smirking. His expression abruptly fell, however, when Tails dipped the plane lower, making as though he was coming in for a landing. “Uh, Tails? We’re supposed to be staying up here in the air where it’s safe, right? Thin ice and all?”
“Sorry, Sonic, but I’ve checked this area on the radar. All the ice is thick enough to support our weight and the plane’s. We need to get in closer if we’re gonna disable this machine!” his little brother called out.
“Why did I ever decide to become a hero again?” Sonic lamented, trying his best not to look down as the plane slowed and landed a cautious distance away from the machine and the Eggmobile hovering near it.
The rest of the team hopped off the plane, wobbling a little but generally managing to find their balance. Sonic, however, stayed safely inside, unwilling to even so much as touch the ice.
“Oh ho! I see you’ve discovered my latest nefarious scheme!” Eggman declared proudly. “May I introduce to you…the Mean Freeze Machine!” He bowed with a flourish, gesturing to an odd tank with tubes feeding from it into the ocean. “As you can see, this particular creation of mine is rapidly covering the ocean in ice, making everyone’s beach days just a little extra cool.” He allowed himself a smug smile at that particular pun, despite the fact that it even pushed past Sonic’s hydrophobia to get him groaning. (At least it didn’t take more than a quick glower at Orbot to get him praising Eggman’s wit. Cubot’s remark of “I don’t get it?”, on the other hand, very nearly earned him a one-way ticket over the side of the vehicle.) “With this machine, I can hold everyone’s beach days hostage, effectively ruining what little appeal this island has! They’ll have to hand the village over to me if they want their precious ocean back!”
“You…you want to ruin people’s beach days?! That’s not cool AT ALL!” Sticks shrieked, launching themselves directly at the Eggmobile. Eggman promptly screamed and pulled up on the controls, but this didn’t deter the badger—they simply switched to attacking with a bow and arrow instead of teeth and claws.
“Tails, can you reverse the effects of the machine?” Shadow asked quickly.
“Yeah, I can, but you’re gonna need to buy me some time!” the fox replied, already flying over to the device and pulling out some of his tools.
“Oh no you don’t!” Eggman yelled, still dodging Sticks’s arrows. “Robots, attaaaaaaack!”
Shadow, Amy and Knuckles all sprung into action, dispatching any badniks that dared to approach Tails with ease. Sonic, however, found himself slipping and sliding every which way across the ice as he finally leapt out of the plane and attempted to run, not having Amy’s balance, Shadow’s skates, or Knuckles’s…well, knuckles…to use to ground himself.
While Sticks took a brief moment to reload, Eggman gloated at the sight of his archnemesis struggling to stay out of the robots’ way. “Having an ice time down there, Sonic?” he called.
The blue hedgehog growled to himself through gritted teeth, his ears flicking back briefly in frustration. He was making an embarrassment of himself in front of all his friends!
Before anyone could look his way, he was thankfully spared that indignity when Tails cried, “I got it! Now we’ve just gotta keep Eggman away until most of the ice reverses itself!”
“Nice work, pal!” Sonic cheered. “That can’t be too—” He was abruptly cut off by a loud creaking sound, as though a giant had just stepped on a loose floorboard.
And then…slowly but surely…the ice began to break apart.
“Oh, shiiiiiAAAAH!” Sonic screamed, abruptly dropping to all fours as his particular section of ice began to wobble in the rapidly melting water. “No no no no no, not again! Don’t tilt, just please don’t tilt…” he chanted under his breath, splaying himself out like a starfish in a desperate attempt to maintain his balance.
Tails jumped up, getting airborne as quickly as possible in an attempt to save his brother—but then, his attention was drawn away by Orbot and Cubot bickering as they attempted to sabotage his plane, having just been dropped off there by a nearby Eggman (“Be useful for once and don’t let them get away!” he was yelling) while the doctor continued to dodge Sticks’s furious attacks. Frantically, he looked back and forth, uncertain of what to do.
“Tails!” Shadow barked, dropping into a defensive stance. “You defend the plane! Rose, Knuckles, guard the machine. I’ll get Sonic.”
The fox hesitated briefly. “Promise?”
“Of course.” Shadow assured him.
And with that, Tails flew off and began to shoo Orbot and Cubot away from his plane, rapidly running some pre-flight checks and ensuring that they hadn’t dealt any significant damage even as the ice floe shrank around him. Meanwhile, Shadow used his skates to leap across the various pieces of ice, resorting to Chaos Snap when the distance was too great.
Before long, he’d landed on Sonic’s patch of ice—and abruptly regretted it when his weight made the surface wobble and the blue hedgehog proceeded to scream loudly enough to overload even his audio processors. “Sonic, you’re not dying!” he exclaimed, cautiously making his way over to the terrified hero.
“Yes I am!” Sonic cried, shaking violently and pressing himself a little more flat against the ice as Shadow reached for him, refusing to be moved for fear it would tip him into the ocean.
Shadow sighed, getting down on one knee next to him. “Do you really think I’m going to let anything happen to you?”
“I dunno.” Sonic muttered petulantly. “Can you defeat all the water?”
“I don’t need to do that. What I can do is dive as deep as necessary, Chaos Spear any creature, and swim without surfacing for hours. I will keep you safe, I promise. Just please let me get you out of here.” Shadow insisted, his voice surprisingly gentle.
“…you really mean it?” Sonic asked, looking worriedly up at Shadow, his ears pinned back and everything.
“Of course I do.” Shadow said. Then, without any warning whatsoever, he picked up Sonic in a princess carry, before skating and teleporting them back across the ice to where Tails had just finished warming up his plane.
As Shadow set Sonic down in the back seat of the biplane, the blue hedgehog turned slightly green and clamped a hand over his mouth, groaning in discomfort. “Unless it’s to get me outta the water, never teleport me like that again…I don’t know how you handle it.”
Shadow shook his head, snickering at Sonic’s plight. “Hmph. Are you finally admitting that I’m more skilled than you?”
“No!” he yelped, leaping to his feet (but notably staying inside the plane). “I just…don’t need that dumb teleportation stuff to get around, so I never bothered with it!”
Shadow was about to retort when Tails cut in. “Uh, guys? Maybe we should focus on actually getting in the air so we can pick everyone else up? Preferably before the rest of the ice melts?”
“Yeah. Yeah, you’re right, Tails, that’s a great idea. Let’s do that right now.” Sonic said quickly, sitting down again.
The fox revved up his plane, taking off into the air, while Shadow teleported up to one of the landing struts, where he could reach down to help pull the others aboard. Amy and Knuckles resumed their prior positions atop the wings quickly, but Sticks complained bitterly about not getting to properly wreak vengeance upon Eggman for ruining her beach day and for making those terrible puns.
“At least his machine’s busted now, I guess.” she muttered, watching it sink to the bottom of the ocean as the last of the ice melted away.
“No! My Mean Freeze Machine!” Eggman wailed. “I put so much work into that! You’ll pay for this!”
“But I can’t! I don’t even have any money!” Knuckles called over his shoulder, as the team flew away.
“I didn’t mean it literally!” the doctor yelled after them, even though they were long out of earshot.
“I knew that, Boss!” Orbot said hopefully.
Eggman folded his arms and huffed. “Well, I wasn’t talking to you.”
Orbot drooped sadly, electing not to say anything else to his incensed creator.
Now that the day was saved, the six heroes were back on the beach, and most of them were having fun once again. Sticks and Tails were building a terrifyingly well-constructed sand fortress, while Amy and Shadow inspected and identified the various fish that could be found in the shallows around the area.
Sonic, meanwhile, was lying under an umbrella and trying (read: failing) not to cringe every time the sound of the waves crashing on the shore reached his ears. Knuckles, who had been neatly organizing some shells he’d found, paused when he noticed this, coming over to sit next to his friend.
“Sonic?” he began, prompting the hedgehog to sit up in a flash and shoot him a too-big smile.
“Hey, Knux! I’m doing fine, a hundred percent a-okay! How ‘bout you?” he said, his tone falsely chipper.
“You remember what I said earlier, when Shadow was in the lake? About how he’d be fine, ‘cause we were all there to rescue him if he needed it?”
“Uh, yeah, that was just an hour ago. What about it?” Sonic asked, confused.
Knuckles smiled at his friend. “He’s not the only one we’re all here to rescue. You know that, right?”
Sonic looked up at the echidna for a moment, then over at his friends. There was Tails, who had pulled him from that very same lake, and Amy, who had honestly done her best to help him by finding him swimming lessons. Sticks had insane survival skills, Shadow could hold his breath forever, and Knuckles…Knuckles would be there to ground him and remind him of everything his friends could do when they really put their minds to it.
The hero smiled, lying back again on his towel, but without any of the tension from before.
“Yeah. I do.”
