Okay so my personal fave eras are Sounds Good Feels Good and Youngblood and honestly Shes Kinda Hot EP is so fucking good its insane they don't acknowledge it more. Here's my extended takes on each era. I'm super biased no one bully me pls just my opinions.

(if you listen to my original AU playlist there's a healthy amount of 5sos on those btw)

Self-Titled: it's pop-punk as written by 15 year old pop-punk fans, obviously not their most technically competent or creative era however there's kind of a flavour of unabashed youth and naivety thats super fun. It's also one of their sluttiest eras and they literally won't stop singing abt trying to get with older women. Top songs from this era for me are English Love Affair, Social Casualty, Never Be, Kiss Me Kiss Me, Disconnected, If You Don't Know (from Don't Stop EP, find it on Youtube) and End Up Here

Sounds Good Feels Good: My fave era of all time. SO good for mentally ill queers. Feels so artsy and high concept compared to a lot of their other stuff and my personal favourite lyrics era. Good for the slightly older pop-punk enjoyer, or if your in ur late teens early 20s and just absolutely going through it. Top songs from this era for me are: Lost in Reality, Broken Pieces, Catch Fire, San Francisco, She's Kinda Hot, Story of Another Us (I'm an Mtrench Stan and they wrote this with Josh so <333), Safety Pin, and Waste the Night. Honorable mention: their movie single for Ghostbusters, Girls Talk Boys

Youngblood: My first concert was this era!!! When I tell you their comeback made feral. For the depressed and slightly horny. Definitely feels different from prev eras in a cool and mature way! Much more pop but still maintains a lot of alternative influence. Top songs: Youngblood, Why Won't You Love Me, Babylon, When You Walk Away (target special check youtube), Valentine, and Meet You There.

Calm: Was not that into this era if I'm being honest. But the singles from this era are like crack cocaine to me. Definitely even more pop than their older stuff. Good for those wanting something about established relationships. More slow-songs and less grainy textured guitar than before. IMO some of the later songs in the album blur together a bit but my friends like the album so theres that. Top songs: Wildflower, No Shame, Red Desert, Kill My Time

5SOS5: It's not even out yet IDK man. They keep singing about how much they've grown as people which is so funny to me actually but Me Myself and I, and Take My Hand are my preferred singles so far!

Ashton Solo Project: I listened to Skinny Skinny and kind of just fell off it but I feel like if you like Calm and 5sos5 you'll like Ashton's solo stuff (based on just vibes tbh)

Luke Solo Project: I would like to inject Starting Lines straight into my veins every day for the rest of my life. I've listened to a bit of the album and so far I think if you like later Marianas Trench or Conan Gray this is for you!

Misc: Take What You Want with One OK Rock is gods gift to mankind.

work i’m most proud of and why: i’m really proud to have written 4k in one sitting for a wild and an untamed thing, and really all i wrote for the harringrove harvest probably

work i’m least proud of and why: ngl i really don’t like any of my 5sos fics very much except maybe the 2 song fics and some horror aspects so

share or describe a favorite review you’ve received: i got and still get so much love for one of my drabbles for st, those always make me smile and then recently i got the funniest review of my life tbh but that stays between me and the unfortunate souls that have my insta

a time when writing was really, really hard: the only time writing was not hard was during the writing challenges in june and october. or well it was still hard but i was putting out words like an insane person anyway. blessed days.

a scene or character you wrote who surprised you: still surprised to be writing in the first place. certainly wrote a lot of stuff towards the end of the year that i did not expect. wrote about a shitload of trauma. OH i wrote crack. did not expect to be able to do that.

a favorite excerpt of your writing: i mostly like some of the one liners in my fics and this is one of them from into the deep end: "Fear spreads through [Steve] and he rushes forward, half expecting a monster in the middle of the bed, but when he moves behind the others to look into the room he stops as well. It’s not a monster, not really. At least he doesn’t think so.

It’s just a mullet wearing asshole that’s supposed to be dead."

and i wrote this baby of drabble that’s one of my fav pieces of writing idk i struggled with this point of the review

how did you grow as a writer this year? i have become more open to just writing what i want. especially recently i’ve stopped really caring? like i still look at numbers too much but at least i write what i like now. i’ve also started writing longer works (at least sort of)

how do you hope to grow next year? i wish i had more time to write which isn’t really something i can force so i think i’m just hoping to not care about statistics as much. as to writing itself i wanna just expand my vocabulary.

who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc etc)? alright so, idk. i often feel very uncomfy speaking to people about my fic bc i think i annoy them and they only put up with it. i certainly have some lovely people who have been supportive (like em) and have been kind enough to beta for me (e.g. helen) and especially noah has been helping me with ideas. but yeah overall idk i shy away from talking about my fic bc it just ends up making me feel bad. thus i think the only overall actually very positive influence was the stranger things fandom, lovely feedback, actual engagement with fics, all that stuff has been helpful.

anything from real life show up in your writing this year? haha. y’all don’t need to know how much i projected this year thanks!

1. Long Way Home - 5SOS: Oh! I haven’t heard this song in awhile. This is one of my favorites from self titled (although I will always prefer the acoustic version) I still remember when they changed the lyrics to “white snake on the radio” during my ROWYSO show. My favorite lyric is “so we’re taking the long way home cause I don’t wanna be wasting my time alone”

2. Bloody Mary - Lady Gaga: I remember the first time I heard this being 11 years old and shocked LMAO if I’m being real honest I love the beat (AND THE BASS) of this song. ALSO the chorus “I WONT CRY FOR YOU” is so GOOD

3. Not Warriors - Waterparks: y’all are in for a TREAT THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE WATERPARKS SONGS. I cannot just listen to this song just once. It’s always at least 3 times and it’s ALWAYS blasting (and yes I did replay it 3 times and blast it through my headphones while typing this) When the beat drops and “THERES NOTHING IN MY SYSTEM SO IM FEELING WHAT I FEEL FOR YOU” so POWERFUL!!!! My favorite lyric is “but hey for what it’s worth I think you saved my life”

4. Best Song Ever - One Direction: I still refuse to believe this song is about sex LMAO this is such a fun song to dance to though I love it. My favorite part is Niall’s solo “I said can I take you home with me, she said never in your wildest dreams”

5. Strong - One Direction: OH! FUCK! MY FAVORITE ONE DIRECTION SONG DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH THE CHORUS “IM SORRY IF I SAY I NEED YOU” I CANT I CANT. If you have not heard them acapella sing this do me a favor and go listen ITS SO GOOD ALSO! Zayn’s high note. My favorite lyric is ofc Louis’ solo “think of how much love that’s been wasted people always trying to escape it move on to stop their heart breaking but there’s nothing I’m running from, you make me strong”

6. Kids In The Dark - All Time Low: YES I LOVE THIS SONG I LOVE THIS ALBUM I LOVE THE MEANING OF THE SONG I’m not joking when I say that I found this song and this band during the hardest time in my life and this song just really hit me hard. My favorite lyric is “beautiful scars on critical veins” AND the firework pop towards the end!!!!

7. Olivia - One Direction: I will admit this song has grown on me big time post hiatus (also the fact that now I’m not hiding my sexuality from myself I can freely listen to this song without feeling ashamed) I! Love! This! Song! It’s such a cute love song!! My favorite lyric is “the summertime butterflies all belong to your creation”

8. I Love You 5 - Never Shout Never: another band I was obsessed with back in 2015 I haven’t listened to this song in awhile!! I remember loving this song though and using it everywhere. I also like in the beginning he says “I love you one a two a three shoobe-doo I love you four that’s more than I can afford”

9. Only Angel - Harry Styles: idk not much to say about this Harry song it’s not in my top 5 but it’s a good song! I like listening to it but it’s just not my favorite. My favorite lyric is “open up your eyes shut your mouth and see that I’m still the only one who’s been in love with me”

10. Viva La Vida - Coldplay: no one: - me: AHHHHHHHHH literally this song will never be the same ever since 1d performed it on xfactor. Idk what to say about this song other than the fact that I like it??? I also like 1D’s cover of it??? Yea cool. My favorite lyric is “Never an honest word but that was when I ruled the world”

11. Glitter & Crimson - All Time Low: this song has definitely grown on me since the release of wake up sunshine. ALSO THE BRIDGE! My favorite lyric is “lets start lets start a riot hard to sit still when your head’s on fire”

12. (Love Will) Turn Back The Hands Of Time - Grease 2: don’t clown me y’all but this movie and soundtrack are a guilty pleasure. I love the original grease BUT grease 2!! It’s such a stupid movie but the soundtrack is fantastic. Anyways this song is another guilty pleasure LMAO I love the whole song so I’m not picking a “favorite lyric”

13. Savior - Rise Against: OH!!!! OH!!! THIS SONG RIGHT HERE!!!! fun fact: the first time I actually heard this song was when I watched a video of someone on YouTube burning her littlest pet shops because a trade went wrong and she got scammed so she took her anger out on that. I literally forgot about this song until one day I heard it in my junior year literature class and had major deja vu. Okay anyways I love this song LMAO my favorite part is the chorus “that’s when she said I don’t hate you boy I just want to save you while there’s still something left to save. That’s when I told her I love you girl but I’m not the answer for the questions that you still have WOAH OH OH WOAH OH OHHH”

14. National Anthem - DE’WAYNE: okay THIS SONG it’s so good and it describes what it’s like growing up in America as a POC. I don’t wanna say too much about it since I’m not a POC so I know I will never fully understand the song because of my privilege but I appreciate the fuck out of this. I love the entire song I don’t have a favorite lyric

15. Your Love - Nicki Minaj: I miss this Nicki Minaj. UM not much to say about this song either??? It’s a good song and I like it?! My favorite part is the chorus OH and the outro I love it

16. Just Dance - Lady Gaga: another pop classic from my childhood alright I MEAN ITS JUST DANCE?! HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE THIS SONG??? ALSO THIS LADY GAGA?! Don’t get me wrong I love the lady Gaga we have now BUT THIS ONE WILL ALWAYS BE ASSOCIATED WITH MY CHILDHOOD AND PRETEEN YEARS. I remember feeling like a badass singing this song when I was 10 years old LMAO I don’t have a favorite lyric I love the whole thing it’s a bop

17. Dear Patience - Niall Horan: Oh!! One of my favorites from Heartbreak Weather. His voice in this song is just so beautiful ugh yes. I absolutely love the chorus of this. My favorite lyric is “feels like you don’t even know me just me and the stars can get lonely”

18. San Francisco - 5sos: OH MY GOD I LOVE THIS SONG ITS IN MY TOP 3 FROM SOUNDS GOOD FEELS GOOD. I hardly see anyone appreciate this song so I’m here to tell y’all: ITS A GOOD SONG?!?! have y’all listened to the live version AS WELL!!!! masterpiece. This song makes me happy especially the guitar at the beginning. My favorite lyric is “reminds me of when we were free I swear that it’s still haunting me” BUT! I do love that pre-chorus

19. They All Float - Waterparks: NICE a song from their first EP okay but I love this song it’s much heavier compared to what they sing now and that’s what I like about it. My favorite part is THE BRIDGE!!! “this is the part where you cut your losses this is the part where you get a job this is the part where you settle for less just like you never wanted to”

We made it finally Adrenaline - Simple Creatures: OH MY GOD THIS SONG LISTEN this is the first song I listened to from this band (which btw if y’all didn’t know is made up of Alex Gaskarth from ATL and Mark Hoppus from Blink-182) I mean while it’s more pop (which is what their intention is) ITS STILL A GOOD BAND!!! ESPECIALLY THIS SONG!! ITS SO GOOD DAMN I love the music video omfg. I’m just a sucker for dance choreography since I grew up surrounded by dance (I did competitive dance for a couple of years and my sister was a competitive dancer until she graduated) okay enough about me this song is so damn good I can’t stop saying that alright! My favorite lyric “I think we’re failin to connect you don’t what you do to me do to me do to me” and I LOVE THE CHORUS

(hi, I'm a Brit gang anon here) I don't follow charts or anything so idk about 5SOS's other albums, but seeing how desperate (v cringey) they were to get CALM to #1 and all the bundles they dropped in the UK, I decided to look up how their album is doing. It had 1 week at number one and was only in the top 100 for five weeks... Pretty bad. Especially considering their competition (at least to my knowledge) was Dua Lipa's and The Weekend's albums. They're still charting, in top 100 here btw 1/2

(Britgang cont) I've not been working anywhere with a radio so avoided pop for like 2 yrs now, so I haven't heard pop music tbh. I only know TW's The Hills; never heard of DL until end of last year. So I decided I'd listen to both their albums while cleaning since they were 5SOS's competition. They're not exactly my thing tbh, but like, they're such better albums than CALM, they deserved #1 & current chart. TW's tells a story and DL's has a nice '80s/'10s mix to it. They flow. 2/2

A lot of the issues that the band faced with the #1 situation and why it only lasted one week is because their marketing team didn’t keep pushing the music. And I’m inclined to believe the reason behind it is because their marketing team knew it wouldn’t make mainstream in the first place. As mentioned before, the cohesiveness of the album, just isn’t there. When it was first released, I wanted to believe that it was there, but over time I’ve come to realize that the album just felt slapped together. Like all of the songs, or rather a majority of the songs could have just been stand alone singles and not wrapped up into a full length album together.

You are correct that CALM just doesn’t flow as well as it should. Whereas the competition they had most likely does flow and is very cohesive. It’s my belief that their management wanted to attempt to capitalize on the success Youngblood brought and because of that they were rushed in making a fourth album. They didn’t get to sit down and actually discuss what should go on an album. Instead they had to write, record, and produce a lot of this album while on the road, which doesn’t actually give a good work environment for anyone.

I see albums as works of art, but CALM, does actually fall very flat to me in terms of works of art.

Old me - Luke Castellan

One-shot based off on 5sos’s song, “ Old me.” The one-shot will be Luke looking back at his life and seeing what happened.. the writing is inspired by the lyrics of the song. Not greatest writing but give it a shot? I just thought of this one-shot while listening to it, the lyrics reminds me of Luke or Percy and I thought more about it and it matched with Luke’s story more so... here we are! Also, I need to say something, the lyrics video of old me brought me so much nostalgia, I almost cried watching it. Watch && listen if you haven’t!! Warning: strong language, spoilers to Percy Jackson’s books, kinda sad. Btw! Try to listen to the song while reading this :)

He was looking back at his past. his past. His past was a nightmare but he was thankful for it. He doesn’t want to admit it but he misses it. The world was slowing him down yet Annabeth didn’t listen and was trying her best to help him. But nobody could control him except one person. Looking back, he had left Annabeth and Thalia. He didn’t know it yet but he fucked everything before getting to know who he truly is.

Girls. Girls fancy him. And he knew it. He had woken up in someone else’s body, wondering how the hell is he going back home? He wasn’t.

People at camp, people who he knew, wondered how the hell did he end there?

He looked at his past, wondered if he ever gets enough. No, he didn’t.

He knew that he done some shit but if he could, he would do it all over again.

He was grateful for his young self. He truly was. Annabeth was there when everything happened. He had left her. He couldn’t be controlled by the gods anymore, he had enough.

Mistakes, Mistakes. Mistakes. He had paid for it. Annabeth also had paid for it so did the son of Poseidon. He had to fuck up everything good. Look in the mirror, all he sees is the golden eyes of time. He looks sickly and aged, his ghostly pale skin didn’t match with his sandy curls which were now white and grey. Though, in the mirror, all he could see is the promises he made and how people from his past who can’t let go.

Through it all, the pain, the sadness, the anger, the emotions, and loneliness. He smiled at his old self. His young self with his mother, Annabeth, Thalia, the camp. He could have it all but nobody could control him. He had paid for it when the earth seemed to be weighing him down.

He had paid for it.

The furies are ready to end it all. But he wouldn’t let them. He was walking out of this nightmare alive.

The world was slowing, yet he wasn’t stopping. No one could control him. Not even Kronos. He had left Annabeth alone. He hurt her, betrayed, caused her pain, and lied to her. All the mistakes he made, he paid for it. Now he was here, in his own body, looking at Annabeth’s teary eyes, slowly dying. As he died, Luke Castellan died as the sorrow covered his eyes to where everything was black.

Heyyy!!! Here I go ok so I'm short like 5 feet. I go by she/her. I like reading books, gardening, watching shows/movies, hanging out with friends, listening to music. Since I'm a new fan I'm currently exploring Youngblood album. And noone warned me about lie to me. Tbh this was hard to pick for you because I was debating between two but, I’m thinking Luke Hemmings! I get hella cute vibes.

-I’m gonna start off with how you two met. since you mentioned NASA and space, I have a feeling that you two met at the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida. Depending on where you live, you either were there on a vacation or just visiting the Space Centre as a day trip, but Luke was probably there on vacation or they had a concert there.

-You two were completely fascinated by the same exhibit and eventually brought up conversation.

-Then you spent the rest of the afternoon walking around together and chatting about space. He asked you so many questions and kept his full attention on you, chin in his hands and totally immersed.

-He probably whined at the end of the day when you had to leave. Then you offered your number and he got all blushy and bashful.

-You two went out more, on walks and to restaurants, but the thought of these being dates never occurred to you.

-He was nervous to tell you that he was in a band because he was worried that you would think of him differently.

-so for a while, you two kept going out as really close friends. your first “date” was when he invited you to go as his date for a friends wedding. for some reason I feel like you look great in the colour lilac. so, you wore a beautiful thin-strapped lilac dress with silky material that shone in the light. Luke wore a suit and a bowtie, and when he came to pick you up, he was speechless.

basically, a rundown of my idea for this was that you’ve been dating ash for a while now and this is the first time he’s gonna be going on tour while he’s with you. you can’t exactly come along because of your occupation/college/university responsibilities so he’s off alone without you for the first time. he gets... curious. he stops calling, he stops answering your calls, perhaps out of guilt for doing something?(one)(s)

“Are you sure you’re alright, Ash? You haven’t returned my calls. And the only time I hear from you it’s a voicemail from some ungodly hour and you sound like you’re drunk. Please call me back... I love you...”

“Y/n... It’s been five weeks. I don’t think he’s going to call you back.” Lydia said quietly while scratching her arm. “I know that isn’t what you want to hear, but maybe you have to hear that...” Lydia didn’t meet her eyes.

Y/n bit her lip and tried to hold back the tears threatening to pour down her face as thoughts ran through her head. Finally, Y/n met Lydia’s eyes. “You don’t think this is his way of dumping me, do you?” Y/n’s eyes begged Lydia to tell her otherwise.

“What? No!”

“But, how do you know that?”

“I don’t,” Lydia rose from the armchair and made her way over to Y/n to place her hand on her shoulder, “But, if that is what’s happening I will fly out there and beat his ass.” Lydia paused and thought it over.

“Actually, I’m going to beat his ass nonetheless.”

“For what?”

“Not contacting you at all except a drunken voicemail with some girl’s voice in the background that definetly wasn’t Crystal.”

“Wait, why don’t you think it was Crystal?”

“Well, for one she sounded like she was French.”

Y/n looked even less hopeful than before. “You think he’s cheating?”

Lydia took a deep breath. “...Maybe.”

Y/n shook slightly, holding back the waterfall in her eyes.

“Hey, hey. Y/n, come on. Don’t cry. You don’t get to cry over him.”

“I... I don’t think I can help it.” Y/n said softly as a single tear escaped.

“Listen, how about we beat him to the next tour destination, live it up in London until he gets there, and then confront him.”

“Okay.” Y/n said with a small huff.

“Did you grab your passport?” Y/n questioned once Lydia opened the door.

Lydia’s eyes widened and she quickly turned back into the house. Y/n chuckled when she heard her friend’s sneakers squeak on the floor.

When Lydia got back she was breathing heavily and holding her passport triumphantly.

“Does Naomi know we’re ready?”

Lydia facepalmed.

“Naomi we’re ready!” She called out to her sister.

The girl suddenly came into view covered in paint. “Do you care if I get paint in your car?”

“I don’t care I just don’t want to miss the flight.”

“Okay cool,” Naomi reached out for the keys and Y/n passed them off.

In the car, Lydia plugged in the aux to her phone.

“I’m gonna shuffle my soundcloud?”

“Sure. Go for it.” Y/n mumbled.

As soon as Lydia hit shuffle, Lie To Me began playing.

Y/n visibly tensed.

“Sorry! I’ll reshuffle”

“Great.”

Like Satan himself was controlling the shuffle, an acoustic version of English Love Affair burst through the speakers.

All the girls in the car starting laughing.

“We got great seats! We have so much leg room!” Lydia gushed.

Y/n stayed silent.

“Ash and I met on a plane...”

Lydia gave her a look that was a cross between side-eye and pity.

“Sorry to be a downer. It just feels like the end. Also, I’m bummed out because you let She’s Kinda Hot play and Ash’s solo came on and I nearly cried.”

Lydia huffed. “Sorry. Let’s just...” Lydia paused trying to think of something. “Do something to take your mind off of it?”

“Like what?”

“Play twenty questions!”

“What are you, a seventh grade fuckboy?”

Lydia laughed out loud.

“That was the longest flight ever oh my gosh.” Lydia said while rubbing her hand down her face.

“I know rig-”

Y/n got cut off by a fan yelling across the airport.

“Isn’t that Y/n? Ashton’s girlfriend?”

“Oh no..” Y/n whispered.

The group of four girls ran over.

“Are you here to join the guys on tour?”

“Uh, actually I’m just paying Ash a little visit. Don’t tell anyone, I want it to be a surprise.” Y/n quickly came up with.

“Oh! Okay! Bye!”

With that, the girls left.

“Hm, that was easy...” Lydia mumbled.

“You’ve also never dealt with fans...”

The day before Ashton and the rest of the gang got to London, the pair were hanging out in their hotel room on their phones.

Lydia was scrolling twitter and decided to check the 5sos tag.

Her heart sank.

“Drummer of 5 Seconds Of Summer Ashton Irwin Spotted With Multiple Women In One Night.”

She clicked the link and it brought her to a news article with attached pictures of Ashton and various girls kissing. One in particular had the bottom half of the photo blurred and Ashton look like he was receiving a... service...

“Oh my gosh...”

“What?” Y/n looked up from the movie she was watching on Netflix. (It was Lemonade Mouth btw)

Lydia couldn’t figure out how to tell her friend what she just read.

“Um... I literally don’t want to do this, but I have to..”

“Spit it out, Lyds!”

“Go on the 5sos tag on twitter...”

Lydia refreshed and she saw that the hastags #ashtonthecheater #bringy/njustice and #respectwomen were trending.

She looked over and Y/n’s eyes were brimmed with tears.

“Hey, Y/n-”

“No.” Y/n shook herself off and she gained a fire in her eyes.

“This prick won’t even know what’s coming to him.”

Y/n whipped out her phone.

“What’re you doing?”

“Calling Cal.”

“Um... For what?”

“Making sure Ashton is gonna be somewhere.”

“Wh-” Y/n cut off Lydia with her finger.

“Hey Calum!”

“Oh, I’m- I definitely could be better.”

“No, I’m not sick.”

“I need a favor.”

“Do you think you could make sure Ashton stays off social media?”

“Yeah. Bye Cal.”

Y/n set her phone down.

“What was that about?”

“Showing him what he’s missing out on now and slapping the shit out of his annoyingly attractive face.”

It was seven now and Bust The Windows was playing.

Y/n zipped her jeans up and flattened out her top whilst looking in the mirror.

“You look great.” Lydia commented. “That dick-bag is getting what’s coming to him.”

“Should I reapply my lipstick? Its smeared on my cup...”

“He might think you kissed someone, keep it that way.” Lydia smirked.

Y/n rolled her eyes.

She stared into her own reflection and still couldn’t help but feel sadness. She poured her heart out to him and this is what he gave her in return? She shared her secrets with him and he shared his lips with others. This was just plain cruel.

“You ready to go?”

Y/n hesitated a second more. Finally, she nodded. “Yeah. I am.”

“Do you have the backstage passes?”

Y/n lifted the lanyards up.

“Okay, great. Let’s get going.”

Once the first song started, Y/n’s heartbeat quickened.

There he was, innocently playing the drums towards the back of the stage.

She felt Lydia’s hand rubbing her shoulder.

She was in for a long couple hours.

The boys were in the middle of their final song when Dave came to get the girls.

“Calum told me about your... Situation. Would you like to go now?”

Y/n took a deep breath. “Yes.”

The girls followed Dave backstage and he showed them to where they could wait for the boys to come out.

Y/n couldn’t stop fidgeting.

“Calm down, Y/n/n. Once it’s over we can eat all sorts of ice cream. I’ll buy you f/f.”

Y/n nodded.

Then, they heard the boys finish up the song and the crowd screaming while they walked off stage.

“ohmygodohmygodohmygod.”

“Y/n.”

“Sorry.”

Then, she saw him. Still as angelic and heavenly looking as ever. It killed her.

Then, Luke looked over. He looked very confused. (Elevator music... pfft)

He tapped Ashton and pointed the pair out.

When their eyes locked, her heart stopped.

Soon enough he was right there, hugging her.

“What’re you doing here baby?”

It felt so nice she almost didn’t shove him off. It broke her heart, but she did.

He was so caught off guard that he stumbled back.

“I’m-” Her voice caught in her throat. It was so much harder with him right there, beautiful eyes gazing into hers with confusion. Her stomach still fluttered around him. Despite what she knows he did. “I’m here to break up with you.”

He flinched.

“What?”

“I’m not repeating myself.” Her words were like steel.Cutting like a blade.

“Why?” He almost seemed guilty. Maybe piecing together why she was truly here.

“You know what you’ve done. You know how you broke us.” As she uttered the sentence, her voice and heart broke simultaneously

He chewed his lip, “Baby-”

“No. Not anymore. You ruined that with infidelity.”

His brows furrowed, it seemed like he was searching for something to say.

The rest of the boys had walked over and began eavesdropping. (Luke and Lydia hugged upon greeting each other ;) )

“Wh- What makes you think I cheated on you? I could neve-”

“It’s all over the internet, there’s pictures and everything.”

“Those are ol-”

“No they aren’t.” She glared at him.

He sighed deeply.

“Why’d you do it?”

His eyes scanned her body for the first time, stopping in places. “I was.. Drunk, lonely..”

“That isn’t an excuse and you know it.” Y/n snarled.

“I’m sorry.”

“Bullshit.”

Michael stifled a chuckle.

“I still love you?”

Next thing you know Ashton was clutching his burning face and Calum was trying not to laugh.

“Ow!” He whipped his head up.

“You don’t get to say that. Not after this. You don’t get to try to make it better.” Her face grew red and tears formed in her eyes.

“We’re done.”

Once they were in the car, she broke down.

5 Seconds of Summer Self Titled Album Song Ranking (target edition)

I wrote this almost 2 weeks ago but I pushed it because of Youngblood’s release but so I don’t forget to post it, here is my ranking of 5sos debut album 5 Seconds of Summer.

Like SGFG I will be shuffling the album

Before I even start I will say I feel like this ranking is going to be shorter than the last. I find it funny because this is the album I was so excited for when I was deep into 5sos, but I resonate with sgfg so much more even though I only properly listened to it recently bf I completely fell back in love with these idiots (that one of the perks of stepping back/not always being in the know, also there's more content to catch up on)

**I do not include the older songs in the ranking such as heartbreak girl because I don’t view them as part of this collective and I think they would outperform the “newer songs” that were released with this album.

Kiss Me Kiss Me

A good song to begin this review. It is one of those songs where you want to run away with your lover, young, wild, and free.

End Up Here

Sigh. Lol, this album is going to be more difficult to rank because I feel like more songs sound similar. This song surprises me because of Michael's yelling/singing during the chorus. It’s not something I would typically be into but ugh it is such a feel-good song. Is it just me or do you envision the girl as older? I gravitate more to 'Kiss Me Kiss Me,' partially because it’s at the beginning of the album ( I tend to skip the first 3 singles bc overplayed) but I think End Up Here is the better song.

Beside You

It’s a cute song. COnsidering this was one of their earliest songs I think this speaks volumes of how far they would come. It’s simple but you can invision it. THe singer and their partner sleeping worlds apart thinking about each other. *Creates a music video in my head when ever I hear this song*

Long Way Home

This song has been on my mind a lot recently so I think it deserves to get a higher ranking. It’s about taking in the moment and just more time with the people you love. It was memorable as I ended up my days at college.

Heartbreak Girl

This is potentially the first 5sos song I heard (well actually I think I heard one of luke’s covers first, but that wasn’t really 5sos, and not an original song). Compared to Beside You I perfer this song. The feeling of this song is more complex, she appreciates everything he does for her but she doesn't see that he wants to be with her, but he still hopes the best for her. If I am not mistaken some people don’t like this song because it sounds like he wants to break them up, but I don’t think that’s the point. Like just because someone is taken or doesn’t like you doesn’t mean you can’t find them attractive or want to be with them. It’s different if you are ACTING upon that feeling and actually try to sabotage that relationship. This song is an honest song about desire and is also mature in that fact that in the end all he really want for her is the best, and that’s true love for you ladies and gentes

Amnesia

I know this was a single but this is one of 5sos’ best songs, ever, there's a reason Don’t Stop was dropped long ago but they still play Amnesia in concert. I know, at least for the US, Amnesia did really well for a follow up single. It was played on the radio for months, sadly no one needs to know that SGFG singles didn’t do as well (I think youngblood will be the middle ground because the singles are doing well they got their second number one in australia on a song that wasnt even going to be a single, I’m still not over it, they’re 3 weeks strong. And based on promo and how they’re talking about the album I really believe that this will be their best album yet and I have a feeling it’ll do well on the charts).

I think Amnesia did so well because it’s one of those songs that many people can relate to, while it is focused on a breakup I think it can easily be related to other forms of loss such as losing a friend or someone moving away, missing the better times…

Ranking: 1 of 4 over Long Way Home

Independence Day

While I feel like this song stands out compared to some of the other songs such as long way home, everything I didn’t say, and end up here… which all sound similar to one another. This song isn’t a winner for me. Never has been. I don’t dislike, I am listening for a spark but Independence Day just doesn’t do it for me.

Out of My Limit

Shoot I forgot this song was on here too. Lol. I am not going to rank this to the album as a whole either. Lyrically it’s more exciting than beside you but right at this moment, sonically it’s not doing much for me (I love this song, something tells me that it’s recently been overplayed)

Mrs. All American

“That mini van that you drive really gets me going” Lol. Luke sounds good in the prechorus but I just can’t with this song. I never really cared for this song, honestly it makes me cringe a bit (like I can bop to it at time, but I will typically skip it).

I prefer english love affair.

Tomorrow Never Dies

I always think of the Transformers Soundtrack, specifically New Divide by Linkin Park (ps. The score is a nice listen while you need to focus and need be quick in your action). This song deseves to be in an action movie.

In a recent interview (ash london australia) the boys were asked to describe their new album with songs from their old album (a brillian question btw) and ashton said Tomorrow Never Dies which I find very interesting, if I am not mistaken, this will connect to the hiphop element that will be in their album which has be like??? But it’s nice to hear them talk about this song because it doesn’t get enough love.

I would thought that I would rank this song lower than long way home, but I actually think it’ll be higher because this song stands out on the album.

Good Girls

This song grew on me. I feel like you need to be in the right mood for this song. But I can relate to this song, and when I am feeling it, I find it very empowering. Growing up I would be labled as a good girl and a lot of people thought they knew me but it was like go away you don’t know me (I mean I’m not that rebellious but it’s still like stop putting me in a box and trying to flatten it, I’m not a one dimensional character)

Don’t Stop

Ok this was defs a bop at one point but now I just always skip it. Lyrically its cringe worthy. And I wasn’t about superhero 5sos. Lol. Some weird is too weird for me. The other day I said it was the worse song on the album, but after listening to other songs, I disagree. Mrs. All American is worse. This as least has a nice beat to it.

Ranking: 8 of 9 over Mrs. All American

I’ve always liked 18, and it’s not just because it dropped when I was 18 it was just a nice coincidence. Sonically I enjoy it and lyrically there’s a story line to follow. It’s strangely a sad song about the things they don’t have and they sing about 18 equating it to freedom (but is it really??).

Wow is this me in a song? I’ve defs written letters over the things I’ve never said (somewhich I’ve actually told to people #yikes). The rumination of everything that is lost, feeling like you could’ve said something to prevent it from happening, but it was already falling apart, you were always too late..

Listening to this after 18 should make it easier to decide if it goes before or after but nope.

I always skip this song. Heartbreak girl might have been the first single I heard from them but this song really won me over. I remember being so excited for this song. I don’t remember when the song dropped but I remember the music video dropped last period and me and my friend couldn’t wait for the bell to ring to be able to watch it. While there are better songs that could replace this in concert this is a bop, you can’t deny it, this is when the crowd goes the hardest.

As I have mentioned in other ranking posts I hate ranking singles. Especially lead singles. They get extremely over played which I feel like can make people dislike the song, to some degree. I also don’t view lead singles as a collective piece to most albums (or at least since We are never ever getting back together lol).

*gets emo* Tell me why my fav 5sos’ songs are sad. But ughhh. Luckily I don’t think about the reality of this song when I listen to it, otherwise I think I would avoid it. BUt I can defs relate to this. I think most people can. It’s a strange feeling. Often times most people know it’s happening, and you want to stay friends but suddenly there’s no longer anything to say. YOu don’t even know why it’s happening but… (it’s awkward when it’s not mutual, that’s a whole other hot mess we're not going to talk about - actually this is probably what saves me from still enjoying the song because this is just a generally sad song but when it’s not mutual that can feel awkward or backstabbing)

hey how u doin im gna just talk about things that happened recently so anw on friday sin squad went out tgt to orchard but m (using initials cos ## privacy) left early and then the 3 of us just wandered around underground trying to find shaw house because i knew how to get there but didnt know what it was and the other 2 knew what it was but didn't know how to get there and otw we stopped by krispy kreme and they bought donuts but i didnt bc i had no (0) money and s let me have the first (1/2)

bite of their donut?? that shit cost like 5 dollars and i was so fuckin touched man idk why but like ya,, dont tell them but ye we were talking about this at sunday folks during lj week n i stand by the statement that i would Literally Die for s ok so moving on anw in the underpass to shaw house they dropped their donut and me and v were like :0 but s was like ehh five second rule and just picked it up and ate it?? Heck ya anyway so that was my friday also on that day someone didn’t show (2/?)

up to prac and i was so relieved bc wow freedom from the sourness but also like,, i feel like a bad senior u know?? ok but lets,, not,, dwell on that for too long i’ll sort it out at some point but ya it was a pretty ok prac and i started watching shadowhunters tv s2 which is wildly emotional and i keep having to take breaks during the emotional scenes,, i cried at 3 am yesterday because of this show i am !! Heck bc literally almost no show has made me cry this much before its really good (3/?)

and i think the scriptwriters are doing a really really good job with portraying like?? everything?? like plot and relationships and setting and literally everything. perfect it did so much justice to the books and im lowkey mad cos like?? cassie clare literally wrote the books but by this point i don’t really think she’s doing that great of a job with portrayals and stuff (its an opinion pls Do Not quote me on this) and ya i cant believe the show is doing a better job than the (4/?)
