I can’t get over this. The way it shows them as reflections of each other but also, most of the light is behind atsushi while akutagawa is just fading into the dark.

I love the idea of a tough character finally crying in front of others and it's nothing like what people expect. Like everyone expected soft, discrete whimpers but what they get is loud, gasping, obnoxious wailing. Perfection.

Thinking again about how Stede has two pillows on his bed and how this is great visual symbolism of how lonely he feels in S1 (and also very subtle foreshadowing).
It's like when people describe holding hands as "filling in the gaps between their fingers". Sometimes you just want someone to...fill in the gaps?

WARNING!! description of choking and mild violence, please stay safe!
As much as she willed herself to, Marie couldn’t move.
Her breaths were dry and hitched, catching in her throat. A red cast trailed over her, dead still.
Its source was a large, spindly thing. Arms weaved through the netting, fingers curled inwards so harshly that if they were anything other than metal they would’ve been broken.
The rest of it, she didn’t get a very good look at.
Hot metal found her neck and with a sharp pull her face dug into the side of the structure—skin stinging from the impact—everything basked in a blinding red. She kicked and thrashed at empty air, breath leaving her dry, panicked, and scarce.
Marie couldn’t breathe. A sickening squeeze laced around her neck as she felt herself give her way, iron grip burning.
She braced her arms around the metal and pulled, tugged, hit at the arm to try and wriggle free. Ragged breaths left her in small short gasps, fingers going numb from the effort, nails breaking against the the metal-covered arm.
And then, going limp, her free hand found something solid. She pawed at the plastic, finding it again. Her flashlight. The back of it would work, hopefully.
Marie hit indiscriminately, at a finger, a wrist, a forearm, finding anything she could until there was a crack and spark, neck now free. And with that, she ran like hell. Or, crawled like hell.

Finally uploaded a drabble! This scene is from chapter 1 of Humid Afternoons, which is still in the works, but at least there’s proof I’m working on it.
This scene might be changed in the final draft of the chapter so apologies if it’s messy or a little short I have a lot of trouble actually connecting scenes together, but yeah!
Also here’s the lineart because you can’t actually see much of moon lmao:
