Shhhh! Keep your voice down and don't be loud. Whumpee is sleeping (or has just fallen asleep).
In Caretaker's arms after being rescued.
In a hospital bed in a recovery ward (or perhaps an ICU) after receiving care and treatment or perhaps emergency surgery.
On a bed in a room in a recovery house. Bonus points for the house are that the house belongs to the Caretaker and the bed BELONGS TO CARETAKER (AND CARETAKER'S BEDROOM)!!!!
In the passenger seat. Sleep on your back in the back seat or sleep in a half-sitting position after the seat is lowered slightly on the driver's side seat. Bonus points Caretaker puts on the jacket or coat to cover Whumpee.
On the sofa in front of the fireplace.
In a wheelchair while taking a leisurely walk.
On the couch on the terrace.
On the Caretaker's lap. Bonus points with the accompaniment of Caretaker's soft voice lulling Whumpee to sleep and caressing Whumpee's hair.
Sleep leaning on the Caretaker's shoulder when sitting side by side. Bonus points when they are in a discussion with the team members and Whumpee suddenly falls asleep exhausted.
Anything you want to add?

Sleeping Whumpees
Sleeping whumpees. Curled up on cold cell floors, seeking the only escape they can get. Eyes red behind their closed lids because they cried themselves to sleep. Tucked up under warm blankets. Cradled by a caretaker. Peaceful and smiling even in slumber, or screaming from night terrors. Restless from fever. Exhausted in the back of a car, their mind and body just given out. Falling asleep after fighting it for so long.
Just an adorable trope all round.

Sort of niche whump detail??
When your whumpee is resting peacefully, do you prefer for their hands to be balled in fists or for them to be open? Balled fists seem cute and semi-defensive, while open hands leave space for comfort via hand-holding...
oooh I like both!!! But if I had to pick one I’d do balled up — obviously whumpee is trying to protect themselves but they’re tense even in sleep, and it isn’t until caretaker gently pries their fingers open so they can clutch their hand that they realize they’re safe

No peaceful sleep for whumpee.
Captive whumpee who isn’t given a place to sleep.
Captive whumpee who is kept bound in an uncomfortable day and night, with no way to lay down.
Captive whumpee who is forced to sleep on a cold, hard floor.
Captive whumpee who is woken up every hour by whumper.
Captive whumpee whose whumper comes in to torment them while they’re sleeping.
Captive whumpee whose whumper blasts noise so they can’t sleep properly.
Captive whumpee who is sprayed with water whenever they fall asleep.
Captive whumpee who is allowed to sleep, but only when they fulfill whumper’s terms.
Captive whumpee who is allowed to sleep but only while whumper is with them or only in whumper’s bed.
Recovering whumpee who can’t sleep without horrible nightmares that wake them up with a racing heart.
Recovering whumpee whose caretaker always sees them whimpering and tossing and turning as they sleep, muttering ‘no’ and ‘please’ in between sharp breaths.
Recovering whumpee who is afraid to go to sleep due to the fear that something will happen to them while they’re not alert.

Whumpees who used to be notoriously heavy sleepers, but after their captivity they hardly sleep at all and the smallest sounds jolt them awake.
Caretaker hardly dares to breathe when Whumpee falls asleep around them. They silently threaten anyone within earshot not to make a sound. They protect Whumpee’s rest with a vengeance, because it’s so rare.

Magical Mind Control that completely shuts down a Whumpee's mind. leaving them a obedient shell when "Activated" by Whumper. and in a deep, magical sleep when "Deactivated." When Caretaker finds them and rescues them, it takes days for Whumpee to come out from under Whumper's magical influence.
Post Rescue timeline: Days 1-4; Whumpee just floats in darkness. It's quiet, heavy and blissful. Day 5: Whumpee becomes distantly aware of a voice talking to them. it's not Whumper, but comforting none the less. Day 8: Whumpee manages to open their eyes a little. but everything is blurry. Someone's holding them, a hand is in their hair, Whumpee doesn't quite know who it is, but they know they trust this person more than anyone else in the world. Day 12: A light goes off in Whumpee's brain like a lighthouse in pea soup fog. Caretaker! It's Caretaker who's with them. they wish they could speak Caretaker's name, but they're just so Sleepy, they don't have the energy.
Day 13: Whumpee comes to breifly when Caretaker's gently spoon-feeding them some soup. giving Caretaker a feeble smile. Day 15: Whumpee finally wakes up clear-headed and lucid to a teary-eyed Caretaker, hoarsely whispering "Hey."

Prompt #4
Masterlist
••••••••••••••••••••••••
Whumpees misinterpreting or taking too literally something caretaker says always gets me, but there's one specific scenario that I don't ever see, but it's been on my mind a lot lately;
Whumpee was kidnapped and has been held in a basement/prison/etc. for quite some time now. Months or maybe even years at this point. They've been severely injured (maybe by torture, failed escape, etc.) and finally they're being rescued. Only, the person rescuing them is a stranger (Caretaker). Not that Whumpee minds, at this point they just can't care. Anything is better than this, anywhere is better than here.
As their bindings are being undone, Whumpee's eyes begin to flutter as a wave of exhaustion comes over them. Caretaker notices this and they lightly tap Whumpee's face, "c'mon, I need you to keep those eyes open for me, alright? Stay awake, you can't go to sleep yet."
Whumpee, to the best of their ability, listens.
Infact, they listen so well that a few days into recovery, Caretaker notices how tired they seem.
"You alright there? You can take a nap if you need."
Whumpee looks at them in surprise as their eyes begin to well up, a slight, grateful smile creeping its way to their face. They begin thanking Caretaker profusely.
Confused, Caretaker questions them on their reaction and as they piece everything together, they ask Whumpee if they've not been sleeping.
"When you came for me, you said I have to stay awake. And I think I was good, I did good right?" They ask, proudly and excited to finally sleep.
Or they feel guilty and admit that they think they passed out a few times but they're so sorry and they didn't mean to, and they'll be good from now on, they promise!
Either way, Caretaker feels a combination of concern and guilt. They hadn't specified when Whumpee would be allowed to sleep, becuase they didn't think they had to.
They apologize to Whumpee and explain that that's not necessary and that it was a misunderstanding and miscommunication.
Idrk where it goes from here, so if you have any ideas, or you want to write something based on this, lmk or tag me! I'd love to hear some ideas!

lay down on the operating table
TW: forced sedation, experimentation, restraints, struggling
Lay down on the operating table for us. I know you're upset about being experimented on and brainwashed, but it's for the greater good. You'll feel much better about it once we've sedated you. These restraints are for your own safety. Just put your arm down, and -- there we go, all secured. Just relax. There's no point in fighting. You should know that by now.
That's right, soon you'll be trapped inside a body that's too heavy and too drowsy to move, completely relaxed, unable to focus on anything but how much you want to sleep. Every fiber of your body will be relaxed. Your eyelids will become too heavy to keep open. The sedation will slowly overwhelm you until you can't fight it any more.
And once you're asleep, no matter what is done to you, you will not resist. You won't even be aware of what is happening. You'll be completely at our mercy, sleeping so peacefully. Once the sedative starts to kick in, you won't even remember a thing.
Here, let me put the mask on you and secure it. It's only oxygen. Now breath in deeply. One deep relaxing breath for me. In and out. That's it. Another deep breath. In and out. Good.
Now I am going to start the drug that will put you to sleep. It'll take a few minutes to work, but soon it's going to make you very, very relaxed, and very, very sleepy. No use holding your breath. Just breath normally. There you go.
That's it. Relax and let the sedative work its magic on you. You'll start to feel drowsy and floaty as the drug enters your system. Your eyes will become heavy, and you'll let them drift shut. Your mind will blank, leaving you so relaxed. Do you feel it yet?
You're starting to look a bit dazed. The sedation is beginning to work, I think. You're feeling nice and relaxed, aren't you? And so sleepy. I can see your eyes blinking so slowly. No, no, it's no use to struggle against the restraints. Eventually, you'll stop fighting it and go to sleep.
Your body is becoming heavy and your mind is growing hazy. Just lie back on the table, yes, that's good. Take another deep breath. Is that a yawn? Is the gas making you drowsy? You're starting to feel it affecting you, aren't you? Lying there, staring up at the ceiling, fighting those heavy eyelids.
I bet you feel so calm and peaceful. Like you want to let yourself drift off to sleep, right?
Your body and mind are relaxing and becoming more sedated, and there's so little you can do about it. Your eyelids want to drift shut. That tiredness is spreading all throughout your body. Is it starting to get hard to keep your eyes open? Is your head starting to feel heavy? Do you feel like you could fall asleep at any moment if you wanted to?
Yes, that's how the sedative is supposed to make you feel -- calm, relaxed, heavy, sleepy. You're fighting your body's natural urges to go to sleep. You'll lose that battle. You are going to go to sleep.
Did you realize that you've stopped struggling against the restraints? It looks like you can barely keep your eyes open. Slowly and surely, the sedative is putting you to sleep, and there's nothing you can do about it. It's no use fighting those heavy, tired eyelids. They're shutting all on their own.
That's right, you're completely unable to fight the sedation. It's strong and powerful. It will make you feel floaty and drowsy and oh so blissful. It will override your desire to stay awake. It was all over the second we started the drug, and you knew that.
The sedation is conquering your body and soon it will conquer your mind. Your body will fall asleep soon. Let yourself stop fighting, let sleep claim your helpless body. Let sleep take you. Let the sedation claim you. Let your eyelids close.
You're becoming drowsy, drowsier and sleepier. Soon your eyelids will close, and you will give in to the sedation, and you will be so docile and pliant and entirely at my mercy. Are you ready for that? The moment when your eyelids close will be the point of no return. A fleeting moment when you are not yet asleep and not quite awake. A moment where you know you've lost the fight, where you feel utterly helpless.
There we go. Shut those sleepy eyes for me. Don't open them again. Let the sedative put you fast asleep. There we go, fall asleep. Go to sleep, deep asleep. So deeply asleep. It feels so good to stop fighting and go to sleep. And now that you've fallen asleep, we can do whatever experiments we please.
Now, we can get to work.

“M-Master?”
Whumpees soft voice pulled him out of his thoughts and into reality, where Whumpee was peeking around the corner to the office.
“Yes? Need something?” He tried to make his voice light, friendly, but noticed all too late the tear tracks down Whumpee’s face.
“May- May I ask for an indulgence, sir?”
“Of course,” he turned fully, now laser focused, a yes already waiting on his lips, “What would you like?”
“If-if you please, may I request a- an hour of-of-“ their voice faltered, tears starting again.
“It’s okay, sweet, it’s okay, you’re not going to be in trouble,” he coaxed, desperate for them to finish their request, “Take a deep breath, and just ask for whatever you like.”
They swallowed, nodding, and tried again.
“Master, may I request 1 hour without punishment?”
“Without- What?”
He had never punished Whumpee, ever. What did they mean?
“I-I know that you have been merciful- you have not punished me yet- I- I am sorry, I should not have asked, I am sorry Master, please forgive me-“
“You’re okay, hey, you’re fine, I just want to know what’s going on, alright?” he soothed, “So, you want a set time, without punishment? But- Whumpee, did something happen? Something that you think deserves to be punished?”
Whumpee frantically shook their head, crying harder now.
“Please, speak. You won’t be in trouble, I just want to understand, okay?”
“I-I know that- that I will fail you. I will always strive to meet your standards, but I know I will fall short and need to be punished,” Whumpee took a deep, shuddering breath, “But I haven’t yet learned all your rules, preferences, and standards… I- I have not been able to sleep for days, Master.”
He could tell that their courage was failing, and he couldn’t imagine how brave they were being to face him now… He was so proud of them…
“Oh…” it all made sense now, “You just want some time where you don’t have to watch your every move, right?”
Whumpee nodded, crying too hard to speak, and now he could see the deep circles under their eyes.
“Of course, sweet, of course…” he wasn’t going to punish Whumpee at all, he’d told them that already, but clearly they had a hard time believing that, “How about this? You go take a nap, and you’ll have no obligations or expectations till tomorrow at 10 am. No punishment, no worries, nothing. Just make sure you eat something, anything, for dinner and drink plenty of water, and get some sleep, okay? That’s all that I ask.”
He watched their face, hoping to have hit all the right notes, and for a sickening moment, they only sobbed harder.
“Th-thank you Master, thank you, yes sir, thank you-“ they managed, bowing deeply, their shoulders slumping in relief like a puppet with its strings cut.
“Okay,” he secretly breathed a sigh of relief, “Good. And thank you for coming to ask me, I’m very proud of you. You did a good job.”
Following the conditioning was also not ideal, but clearly ideal wasn’t an option at the moment.
Whumpee seemed to light up at the praise, a few breathless thank yous escaping but then they were gone, dashing away hopefully in search of food and water before a well deserved night of peaceful sleep.
After all, that was all they were asking for. A night of peace…
He sunk into his chair and let his head rest on the desk for a few minutes, before pulling himself together and writing down every detail of their exchange.
This might be the way to help them.

Oh my god how have I not talked about nightmares yet?? It has to be one of my favourite tropes ever
Oh we have more than one bed? Too bad I had a nightmare come here
Nightmares getting so frequent that poor whumpee decides to straight up stop sleeping. Which. They obviously fail miserably at because now they're just collapsing in the middle of the day
Waking up screaming bloody murder and scaring the shit out of caretaker
Waking up screaming and making whumper even more mad <3
Not being able to tell if they're awake or not
Just sleep paralysis in general
Waking up from a nightmare convinced they're still in whumper's clutches
Having a nightmare where caretaker is hurting them and not wanting to explain why they're so skittish around them all of a sudden
Just.. ✨️nightmares✨️

"Caretaker, can you come to the meeting room? We have to hurry, oh," Team Leader immediately stopped his sentence when he saw Caretaker's finger pressed to her lips.
Team Leader looked at Caretaker who was sitting on the sofa in the lounge room and Whumpee who was fast asleep on her shoulder. A thick blanket appeared to cover their feet.
"Finally, he fell asleep," said the Team Leader.
Caretaker nodded and turned off the television. It seemed they had just watched a holiday movie that was showing. "Not long ago. Suddenly, he fell asleep. Should we wake him up? But I don't want to do that."
Team Leader sighed, "Let him rest. He's still exhausted after everything he's been through. Team A and B members are also still resting. Let's just discuss with those who are there."
Caretaker nodded. "I'll catch up. I'll make a note so Whumpee doesn't panic when he wakes up."
Team Leader agreed. Whumpee had been sticking close to Caretaker lately and he understood that. The Team Leader stepped out of the room and headed for the meeting room.
After the Team Leader came out, Caretaker slowly moved Whumpee's head and laid it on the sofa. Caretaker positions Whumpee's body so that he feels comfortable. Caretaker then gently covered Whumpee and left a post-it note containing him in the meeting room.
After stroking Whumpee's hair for a few minutes, Caretaker hurried away before turning around when she heard a voice.
"Where are you going?"
Caretaker hurriedly approached Whumpee who had woken up from his sleep. "I'm just going to the meeting room. There's a little discussion. You go back to sleep."
Caretaker held Whumpee's hand and rubbed it gently.
"I'm coming with you," said Whumpee again.
Caretaker shook her head and said, "No. Sorry, you need to rest. I won't be long, okay? As soon as you wake up, I'll be by your side again."
Whumpee looked doubtful.
Caretaker smiled and said, "You deserve it, Whumpee. Team A and B members are also still resting after what the three of you experienced. Team Leader also suggested so."
Whumpee nodded.
"Okay. Do you want to continue sleeping here or move to the bedroom?"
"Bedroom."
Caretaker slowly carried Whumpee back to his bedroom. Lay Whumpee gently on the bed, cover him, and make sure the air temperature is right so Whumpee doesn't get cold.
"Hurry back," Whumpee said, his eyes drifting back to sleep as Caretaker rubbed his head.
"Definitely. Sleep well," Caretaker kissed Whumpee's forehead.
Whumpee smiled and yawned before finally closing his eyes. Caretaker breathed a sigh of relief; at least Whumpee was getting some rest. Then she slowly left the bedroom and headed for the meeting room. There's a lot to cover.

For a whump blog, I post a surprisingly small amount of captivity whump. However, I have had An Idea:
A whumpee who's been captured for a while now and only just found, and their captor is known for using the most brutal of mental and physical interrogation techniques. When the whumpee's friends first find out where they're being held, they're told whumpee...might not be the same when they get a hold of them. That whumper might have broken them beyond repair.
They go in expecting the worst. They're prepared for whumpee not to recognize them, to have to hold them still while they writhe in fear from their own friends. They're prepared for someone feral and deranged, biting and scratching and nearly incapable of human speech. They're prepared for whumpee to be completely delirious. They're prepared for someone whose loyalties have been forcibly shifted, for an empty husk of a person.
What they're not prepared for is finding the whumpee curled up in the corner of their cell, eyes recognizing their friends but hollow, numb and haunted. They aren't prepared for whumpee to reach out a pair of stick-thin arms and cling to caretaker, leaning their full weight against them.
"Caretaker?" they say, their voice feeble yet very clear. "Can you take me home now? I'm so tired...please just take me home..."
And they don't resist when caretaker lifts their emaciated form, and carries them home.
