outta curiosity, how did skadi become the vessel of ymir?
Also, what is their bond like beyond that? Is it like narinderand lamb, where ymir had plans he was hoping to carry out through skadi, and skadi didn’t have a say in the matter? Or is ymir more of a gentle giant who skadi just happened across and willingly wanted to help?
Oooh, good questionnnn... There's actually a little bit of story to this one. Skadi, when she was little, was really close friends with Estrid (Ullr's little sister). She admired her a lot and shared her love for helping animals and such. So when Estrid passed away, Skadi figured that in memory of her closest friend that she would treat everyone with the same kindness that Estrid showed her and the animals around them. Thus, Skadi dedicated most of her early life to helping others to the best of her ability. Whether it be a old man who needs help starting a fire or a little bird with a hurt leg, she was there to help in anyway she could. This got the attention of Ymir - a very gentle fella. He was in need of a vessel for a while to help keep things in check with a whole 'nother situation and found all of his ideal traits in Skadi. Soooo, only natural that she's chosen to be a vessel!

I've made another pair of illustrated pages for my beginning grimoire. I recently made my personal introduction to the giantess Skadi, and I got the sense that she very much welcomed me. I'm definitely thinking that I should work on gradually building relations with Skadi, Freya, Odin, and Freyr before I seriously consider reaching out to other entities--I don't want to reduce animism to a monster-collecting game!

HOW TO WORK WITH FENRIR:
Start by setting out an altar and dedicating it to Fenrir. This can be as simple or elaborate as you like, but it's important to have a specific space reserved solely for him. Offer a prayer to him, and make sure to be genuine and sincere. Show humility and appreciation for his wisdom and guidance. Leave an offering that is meaningful to you, such as a piece of jewelry, food, or drink. Make it genuine and personal. Meditate on his energy and try to connect with his presence. Read up on his myths and legends, or research his associations and symbols, and finally, be mindful of your behaviour and ensure that you are acting with respect and reverence toward him.
PRAYER FOR FENRIR:
To begin, you can address him by name and say something like:
“Great Fenrir, guardian of the underworld, destroyer of all things, I call upon you to guide me in this journey of self-discovery and transformation. I seek your protection, insight, and guidance as I walk my own path.”
“I thank you for your presence and guiding hand, Great Fenrir, I give thanks and praise for your wisdom and protection. Hail Fenrir.”
WHAT ARE SIGNS THAT FENRIR WANTS ME TO WORK WITH HIM?
If your request to work with Fenrir has been accepted, here are some signs that you can look for:
• A sensation of warmth, protection, or guidance that you feel around you.
• Experiencing a boost in intuition or creativity.
• Having thoughts or ideas that seem to come from a higher power or a divine source.
• Feeling inspired to explore new paths or ways of thinking.
• Seeing signs or coincidences that seem to be connected to Fenrir's energy or a reminder of his presence.
• Having an increased interest in nature, wolves, survival, or self-reliance.
• Having dreams or visions involving Fenrir that seem significant and meaningful.
• Seeing or feeling connections between things that would normally seem unrelated.
• Feeling like you are being guided or led to certain places or experiences.
• Having a sense of deja vu, as if you have been in this situation before, or that it is familiar in some way.
• Feeling a sense of peace, calm, or harmony around you, as if you are being protected or supported.
If your request to work with Fenrir has not been accepted, you may notice the following signs:
• You don't feel any kind of positive or uplifting presence or energy around you.
• You may have difficulty reaching a state of calm or meditation when praying to him.
• You may not experience any synchronicities or coincidences that relate to Fenrir's energy.
• You may not feel any increase in feelings like guidance, protection, or insight.
• You might have more difficulty reaching a deep connection with Fenrir's energy or receiving signs or messages from him.
Overall you need to be respectful of deities denying your request.
OFFERINGS:
• Tobacco
• Bread
• Incense
• Booze: wine, beer, mead, and other alcoholic beverages.
• Fruit
• Crystals
• Music
• Bones
• Things associated with wolves: raw meat, animal skins, and wolf teeth, fur, claws.
• Plants
• Water
• Metals like platinum and gems
• Swords
• Blood
• Fire
DEVOTIONAL ACTS FOR FENRIR:
• Rituals: following a specific pattern or structure to honor and connect with Fenrir's energy and presence.
• Dress up in neutral, dark colours.
• Leave out offerings of meat and bone.
• Listen to music. (He seems to like metal and rock music, if not norse pagan chants like Loki, so far but it could be different for other followers)
• Eat meat (ethically sourced, of course)
• Spend some alone time in a quiet place or set a time in the day to just revel in the quiet.
• Feel and then release: Fenrir in his core is primal. He is a wolf and he responds to his natural instinct and emotions. Followers of Fenrir are asked to learn how to feel even if it is what others call negative emotions such as fear, anger, pain, sadness, etc.
• Master your rage: rage is a primal emotion that Fenrir rules on. It is chaotic. Keyword here is chaotic. He asks his followers to be angry but the hitch is that they reign in their anger and not let it loose.
• Light a candle to his name.
• Burn earthly incense like sandalwood.
• Toast to his name when you drink.
• Talk to him through meditation.
• Choose your battles wisely. Sometimes not all battles can be fought, some are best won by walking away from them.
• Forgive but do not forget.
• Respect others even if they have wronged you (unless they do not deserve the respect to be merited).
• Always keep your promises.
• Honour him and his family.
• Live life to the fullest. Do not shackle yourself with ideals and whatnot. The sky’s the limit.
• Adopt a furry friend or wolf: there are wolf centres and sanctuaries that allow people to adopt wolves (like be a friend or be a sponsor) to help with the protection of these creatures.
• Studying the history, mythology, and legends associated with Fenrir, as a way to gain a deeper understanding and connection to him.
• Creating symbols or icons related to Fenrir, such as drawing or painting images of him, composing poetry or writing about him, or carving his symbol into wood or stones.
IS IT SAFE TO EAT OR DRINK AN OFFERING I GIVE TO HIM?
Consuming offerings given to Fenrir is not recommended because he is a powerful being of destruction and the underworld. His energies are not compatible with human consumption, as he is not aligned with the human energy of life and death but rather the energy of destruction. Consuming offerings given to Fenrir may disrupt the connection with the deity and cause an imbalance in energy. It is always better to avoid consuming offerings given to Fenrir.

Duality of the Jötnar:
Tumblr media
Ymir: Nothing, and Everything. The result of worlds colliding, creating the first being. Ymir came from a world of nothingness. He was one of the sole figures that came from Ginnungagap. That nothingness eventually became occupied by the dismembered parts of his body, after having been torn apart by the Aesir. Ymir went from occupying the Great Nothingness, to being everything that surrounds us: the mountains, the water, the clouds.
Angrboda: The Giver of life, and the Taker of life. One of the foremost Jötuns, and the bearer of some of the other Gods. Angrboda descends from a violent tribe in myth, the Jötuns being notoriously troublesome, particularly for humans and the Aesir themselves. Blood often coats their hands, stains their teeth. Known life-takers. Yet, Angrboda has birthed many of the great Jötuns. From her, we have been given other beings of Duality. Their lives, their power, would not have come to being without her creation.
Jörmungandr: The Beginning and the End. The circular World Snake, who, in most depictions, has bitten his own tail. Serpents are given a bad rep in Christian interpretations of the myths, seen as destructive—bringers of (Christian-inspired, most likely) Ragnarök. But, it is well documented that our far ancestors revered Serpents, and recognized their relationship with life and death. Odin himself needed to take the shape of a snake to travel the Worlds. Their power was immense, and deeply spiritual. Jörmungandr can be interpreted as the World's Beginning and End, wrapped around our Realm in a never-ending coil, his head, the beginning, his tail, the end.
Fenrir: The Antagonist, and the Protagonist. Once a wolf-pup, the very thing that mankind so loves. Our faithful friends, dogs have long since been one of our greatest allies. Wolves are protectors, powerful, and with fur that is soft to the touch. But Fenrir grew too large, too powerful, and the Aesir began to fear him. Fear, as the myth portrays, can make people do bad things. Fenrir is chained, a sword forced into his jaws. A once faithful friend to a prisoner. Circling back to Ragnarök, Fenrir is set loose, seeking his revenge on the people who had ensnared him, having been made into the villain.
Hel: Life and Death. Quite obvious, this one. Half her body is that of a rotting corpse—the state in which every living thing will eventually embody. The other half is a beautiful maiden, reflecting that of a woman in the prime of her life. Hel is the keeper of the Realm of the Dead, the one who we can presume to meet one day. Hel, the Realm, in myth, is a mirror-like reflection of what lies here—life seems to continue on as usual, though this time alongside our Ancestors. The Queen of Hel keeps things in order, keeping the Dead as such, and the living out.
Skadi: Calm and Rage. The Goddess of Winter. If you have experienced the falling of snow, then you will know the quiet of it. The World seems to go silent as the flakes fall, the wind has died down, the animals are hidden away from the cold, no birds to be heard. Nature seems to settle in, and silence settles onto those who will listen. A prime time for hunting, particularly deer, known for their demure ways. Skadi occupies this land, treads the freshly fallen snow in silence, waiting for the right time to loose one of her arrows. But Skadi also knows rage, for that of her slain father. She storms into the home of the Aesir themselves, boots stomping, voice loud, demanding to be heard. A consuming force that doesn’t let you rest until the matter is settled. Only once appeased may the snow fall calmly again.
(A/N: Just a little thing I wanted to write. I've been doing my studying and meditating and was thinking about the Jötnar Tribe. UPG, I would like to clarify. Your experience with them might be entirely different :). )

Had a sudden and unexpected, but not unwelcomed idea about Empress 'Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely' Frey and immedietly went
Tumblr media
You thought Ethelberd was bad, wait until the Empress, with Earthmate powers unseen in Sechs in a generation or more, with the power to command monsters and dragons takes the throne.
The Sechs Empire will know peace, but it will be the peace of submission.
When people speak in awe and terror of the Hunter Wolf, it's uncertain if they mean Frey or Skadi. They are equally deadly.
Very heavily influencing this with Narnia's White Witch and ring-tempted Galadriel's 'instead of a dark lord you shall have a queen, beautiful and terrible as the dawn. All will love me and despair'

Note
imagine a sunny day in jotunheim, in angrboda's treehouse. atreus has been on his travels and brings back souvenirs not only for his father, but for angrboda as well. it's been maybe two or three years since ragnarok. atreus has been quite busy finding clues about the giants outside midgard, sometimes it lead to dead ends, sometimes he succeeded, sometimes he's gravely injured while on his journeys and he has to postpone the travels so he can go heal himself. but it's an ongoing process, and still many questions lingering. he doesn't give up!
here's the thing, though... neither atreus and angrboda have confessed to each other yet. but everyone around them are screaming inside that for the love of skadi, JUST SAY IT ALREADY!
one sunny day in jotunheim, atreus appears with new pigments from far off lands that will help angrboda's paintings pop even more. angrboda is overjoyed, because the pigment she's been using doesn't fit the new piece creating. she was so frustrated and annoyed that no matter how she mixed the colors, it never worked or didn't look as appealing. an artist takes their craft seriously! atreus knows this of course.
that's why he's there, because he knew it's the perfect gift for her and also... an excuse to simply see her. be with her. angrboda catches him looking at her for a while. "all good here, champ?" she jokes. "of course, i'm just enjoying the view. i missed you a lot. more than anything."
that made angrboda's heart jump out her chest. she feels the same way, thinking about him when he was gone, wishing he came back. this one time she heard the yggdrasil portal opening and got so excited over the premise that maybe atreus is back, she damn near ran to greet him - but it turned to be just lunda. ('now, why are you so disappointed in seeing me, missy!' no offence lunda, it's. complicated. well not really but you know; UNSAID WORDS & EMOTIONS GALORE.)
"i, uh... missed you too. it's so amazing to see you again, atreus..."
words are failing them hard, how do you even begin with describing just how they're feeling. but maybe they don't need words. they both try to speak, but the tension is thick, the heart rates are going up, palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy, mom's spaghetti-
so they get closer. and closer. until they close the gap between. he has his arms around her waist, and hers are draped around his shoulders. their first kiss together, and it was purely magical. it was steady, sweet, wonderful.
until it deepened and they tumbled down. oh it's going for another territory. word to nelly, it's getting hot in HERE.
however...
they stopped. both of them. heavy breathing, their faces completely flushed.
"h-hey, atreus, um... this is very great but i don't feel... ready for this yet." "no, yeah, no, totally! i understand...!" they got up immediately and dusted themselves off.
a small moment of awkward silence. "angrboda... was it- was this okay with you? you don't feel weird about this, do you...?" "no! not at all! i liked it, but um... i, uh. i've never been... you know... with a guy-"
"OH WELL LOOK AT THE TIME I HAVE TO MEET MY FATHER BY THE SEA. TALK TO YOU LATER!"
"WOW THAT'S GREAT I ALSO JUST REMEMBERED THAT I HAVE TO FIND MORE PLANTS. FOR GIANT STUFF."
"I LIKE YOU!"
"I LIKE YOU TOO!"
"I MEAN MORE THAN LIKE!"
"SAME HERE!"
"BYE!"
"OKAY, BYE!"
meanwhile, somewhere around yggdrasil, ratatoskr was tending to the tree until he heard a young man scream. it was atreus. yelling while he was running laps around the path. currently at his 56th lap and at this rate he will hit 100.
"young master atreus! what is going on-" "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA ICANTBELIEVEITICANTBELIEVEITIDIDTHAAAAT!!" "young master atreus, get a hold of yourself!"
back in jotunheim, angrboda is also screaming. but it's muffled by a pillow. and she's rolling around the grass, kicking her feet, laughing and giggling. her wolf and fox friends are looking a little bit concerned. but she doesn't look hurt, and she's clearly happy, so they're not alert. they won't rip the guy she was seen with into pieces, thankfully.
but oh. it's finally happening.
😭😭😭😭😭

Personally i dealt with the missile mechs by placing Penance on the first tile of the main path and just popping S3 to soften them up. She's even tough enough to just tank the punching mechs. Judge wolf is so so good.
Oh that's much smarter and far more practical than my second clear
Tumblr media
In which I used Skadi S2 and Shining S3 to give Goldenglow 500 DEF and then buffed her with Aak S3 so her drones would go sicko mode
The mecha have so much raw HP that GG can't even chew through all of them with the buffs

where: the castle
with: astrid alfsson and esje grimm @wilddwcrds
★・・・・・・★
The Visser pack, like a storm claiming the sky, have seized a chamber within the castle's walls for their training sessions. To the townsfolk, it might seem as if they've staked their claim so firmly that nobody wishes to even enter and join them. Astrid like a wandering cloud, pays little attention to the instructions that Esje is to be trained by Roan. Her friend's escapades with Loki, the two of them escaping to the castle together hardly avoid notice, though battle might not always be the reason for their disappearances.
As Esje slips out of the training room, Astrid's hand finds her friend's shoulder, twirling the Grimm back through the door. "Not so fast, little white haired wolf." she chides and her tone is a playful melody. "If Loki and Roan are to tutor you in the art of combat, then I, Astrid Alfsson, daughter of Skadi and Torben Alfsson must teach you the art of archery." she declares with an air of jesting authority and her finger rises to Esje's lips, silencing any protest before it can escape. "And don't argue. I know you're already a skilled hunter, but this is different. Well, mostly. There are similarities, I'll grant you that much. When hunting rabbits, we aim for the heart. But sinking a vervain-soaked arrow into a vampire's eye? Exquisite satisfaction. And there's a certain joy in seeing a wolfsbane-laced arrow find its mark in a wolf. I have already made you a bow." she gestures to the two on either of her shoulders, grinning proudly.

Chaldea Theatre
I actually had this idea before the Halloween event happened, but since it also had a fairy tale theme I decided to go ahead and finish drawing it. Have a few other concepts that I might do later.
1. The Twelve Dancing (Singing) Princesses - starring Elizabeth Bathory, Elizabeth Bathory, Elizabeth Bathory, Elizabeth Bathory, Elizabeth Bathory, Elizabeth Bathory, Elizabeth Bathory, Elizabeth Bathory, Elizabeth Bathory, Elizabeth Bathory and Elizabeth Bathory, with special guest appearance from Elizabeth Bathory.
2. Sleeping Beauty - starring Ritsuka as the cursed princess, Arthur as the prince, Skadi/Merlin/Tamamo as the three caster supports fairies and Dantes as the evil sorcerer who Ritsuka must beat up in order to escape from the dreamscape that she got trapped in. Wait, what?
3. Little Red Riding Hood - starring Medb as Red Riding Hood and Cu as the wolf who is only just realising who was responsible for giving him the collar for his costume.
4. Peter Pan - starring Voyager as the boy who never grew up, Abigail as Tinker Bell and Erice as Wendy.
5. Snow White - starring Yang Guifei as the princess, Wu Zetian as the evil and cruel queen who is rightfully angry at Guifei for leading prince astray, and the Tamamo tails as the seven dwarves. Why does Tamamo get to star twice? No, no, the tails are completely distinct from Tamamo, you see, now ignore that shady image in the mirror please.
