A love that will last an eternity

ft. Jing Yuan, RaidenEi!reader

synopsis. You are the ruler of Inazuma, a planet that is known as "the nation of eternity". You come in contact with Jing Yuan, the general of Luofu. How does your relationship bloom?

Warnings: Fem!reader, spoilers of Ei's backstory, unlike Ei, you do not trap your people and try to take their visions, you'll just be trying to find eternity, might be ooc.

This is so long lmao. I tried to make it short but I had too many ideas to make it short 😭

Resources were running low on the Luofu, hence, the General was sent to the closest planet to negotiate plans to stock up resources. The planet in question? It was Inazuma, known as the nation of eternity. JING YUAN was arranged to meet the ruler of Inazuma, you, the Raiden Shogun.

Jing Yuan found you to be very stoic. And he thought that was just how you were. But to his surprise, he found out from your long time friend, Yae Miko, that the Almighty Shogun he has been meeting was actually a puppet. And that you were inside the Raiden Shogun, finding your so called eternity. Jing Yuan, admittedly, thought it was quite strange. But, upon realising what you've been through, your sister's death, losing your friends one by one, he completely understood your choice. He himself went through many deaths in his life, but he knew that confining yourself and having a puppet rule your planet was wrong. Even if he hadn't properly met you before, he knew that he had to try convincing you to come out.

So with Yae Miko's permission, he entered the Plane of Euthymia for the first time. Of course, you were surprised. He has trespassed without your permission, yet you weren't surprised that Yae Miko was the one behind his entry. However, due to him trespassing without your permission, you decided to propose a fight. If he were to best you, then you would allow him to talk. Though he accepted the challenge, he was unsure of how strong you were. He considered to decline, since this wasn't even his planet that he was saving. But he decided that if he were to save your planet, then he would gain more connections with other people. Leading to him accepting. The battle was long, and tiresome, there didn't seem to be a clear victor. And this was starting to drain you guys' stamina.

"It appears that the rumors hold true; you are truly a formidable warrior," you say, your voice slightly strained from the prolonged battle, your breath still catching up. A genuine smile graces Jing Yuan's face,

"you flatter me, Almighty Shogun. You, too, are a strong opponent. How about this, this fight has been going on for far too long, and just like you, I have some business I need to do in Xianzhou Luofu. Why don't we talk things out instead of fighting?"

After a few negotiations, you both agreed on a conclusion. Jing Yuan will show you the Xianzhou Luofu, as an example to how a nation will look with their ruler present for centuries.

Fast forward to when you and Jing Yuan arrive on the Luofu. As you walked around with Jing Yuan, you two got a lot of stares from the people in Xianzhou. But it's no surprise, it's not everyday that you see the Almighty Shogun of Inazuma and the General of the Luofu in one place. Strangely, you didn't quite understand why everyone was staring.

"why are people staring at us? Don't they know it's rude to stare?"

"well, it's their first time seeing the Almighty Shogun and the General walking together. Of course they would stare at us."

"it's not like we're here to cause trouble. Why can't they just mind their own business..."

As you two walked around Xianzhou, trying different foods, looking at different attractions, you both were indulging in some small talk. Jing Yuan thought you were very cute. You were more casual as compared to your puppet, and he felt like this was a breath of fresh air. Especially since you acted like he was just a normal person, instead of fearing him due to his position.

After a long day of walking around Xianzhou, you both decided to sit down for a while to eat some Xianzhou delicacies. While eating some dessert, you noticed something poking out of the general's pocket.

"what is... this strange device?" You say, pointing at his phone in his pocket. Judging by his face, Jing Yuan was caught off guard. You don't know what a phone was? Have you been in the plane of euthymia for so long that you had lost touch of the real world?

"this is a phone? Do you not know what a phone is?" He says while taking out his phone, and letting you look at it. "It's so slim... This is unlike anything I've seen before. Oh! What's this..?" He moves his head to watch from over your shoulder, and sees that you've accidentally opened the camera app.

"this is the camera app. You can take photos with this app." He looks over to see your face, he expected to see amusement displayed on your face, but he was met with the sight of your confused face.

"photos...?" Oh. You also didn't know what photos were. After an attempt to explain what photos were, you were left with even more confusion than you had before, so he proposed to take a photo of you to demonstrate how they work.

While taking a photo of you sitting down and drinking dango milk, he couldn't help but admire the way your hair moves in the wind, and how elegant you were in your inazuman clothes.

"is it done?" You say, interrupting his thoughts,

"wait a moment, I just need to find the right angle" he reassures, as he crouches down, he could hear you complain under your breath about how photos were such a time consuming activity, making him chuckle a bit.

After a moment, he walked back to the seat right as you were finishing up your drink. Upon seeing your photo, he loved the way your face morphed from confusion to admiration.

"this photo... Is so beautiful..." You quietly mumble, unknowingly leaning closer to Jing Yuan, causing him to slightly blush. A few passerbyers were shocked to see the well-known general of Luofu blushing because of a girl.

The day where you had to go back to Inazuma came. And Jing Yuan absolutely dreaded for the day to come. He loved spending time with you, and if you went back, he had to travel so far just to visit you again. So, on the morning of your departure, he surprised you with a little gift.

"is this... The device with the camera app?" Jing Yuan gave you the phone for you to examine

"yes, but not only can it take photos, but you can also communicate with others"

Jing Yuan taught you everything about how to text, how to call, and how to send voice messages. By the time you guys were finished talking, it was already time to go. You both decided that you would walk together one last time before you depart. As you walked, he added your contact to his contact list, he was about to name your contact before you interrupted

"no need for the formalities. You can just call me y/n." You say, looking at his screen, where your contact was named "Raiden Shogun"

Jing Yuan chuckled, he was glad he could finally call you by a shorter name, it was getting quite tiring saying "Raiden Shogun" every time to address you.

You finally reach the ship that will be carrying you back to Inazuma, and Jing Yuan doesn't feel like letting you go just yet. Even if you guys have contact with each other, it doesn't feel the same as walking with you in real life. Before boarding the ships, you both exchange your goodbyes, and Jing Yuan reminds you to text often.

As you board the ship, you look back one more time, just to see his face one more time. Once you board the ship, you begin to realise how fond you were of Jing Yuan. You seemed to enjoy yourself more, you were smiling more, and it was even the first time you had someone address your actual name for a long time. For the first time, you wanted to land as quick as possible, so you could talk to Jing Yuan again. You look at your contacts, which only contained Jing Yuan. You felt like your visit to the Xianzhou Luofu was refreshing, you finally realised that your ways were not right, and you were ready to correct them.

1 year has past since you met Jing Yuan, and you two have been texting almost everyday. You were updating Jing Yuan on your nation's situation, and he was giving more advice on what choices need to be made, and what was needed for a fully functioning nation. You completely trusted him, after all, he's lived for centuries and has witnessed the Luofu's growth. But you could also feel the way your chest felt warm whenever you had a video call with him. And he's felt the same way. You both really wanted to see eachother again, to walk together again, maybe even have Jing Yuan visit Inazuma again. But you both knew that being in charge of a nation means that there is hardly any time to visit other planets. Especially since you've taken full control of Inazuma now.

The summer festival in Inazuma was just around the corner. Thankfully, the one in charge of planning the summer festival was the company owned by Yoimiya, Naganohara Fireworks. Though you had a short break, you weren't planning on watching the fireworks. Whenever you saw the fireworks, you were always alone, and it always hurt to be reminded that all your previous friends were no longer here. Coincidentally, Jing Yuan has gotten a two week break around this time. As well, just a few days ago you were complaining how lonely you would be on the day of the festival, which really made Jing Yuan's heart ache. He relates to the feeling of being alone, he's lost many of his friends too. But something in him doesn't want you to feel lonely ever again. Something in him wants you to feel what it's like to celebrate the summer festival with someone you love.

The day of the summer festival comes, but all you're doing today is going for a walk around the beach, you didn't usually go to the beach, but that's precisely why you came. Just so you could escape the way your heart aches whenever you go to a place where you used to visit with your sister. So you went to the beach, where you didn't have any memories of your past. Suddenly, you stop in your tracks. A few steps ahead of you, sat the general of Luofu himself. As if he could sense your presence, Jing Yuan turns his attention away from the ocean and to you, smiling as he sees the way your eyes widen in surprise. Still in a daze, you begin to sprint towards him, excited yet confused to see him. You had thought he was busy, why was he here?

Still a bit bewildered, you unknowingly hold his hand, which caused Jing Yuan to blush a bit, but you didn't notice.

"Jing yuan..? What are you doing here?" He chuckles, he could see the hint of happiness from the way your voice sounded slightly more high-pitched.

"Well I just so happened to be on break for two weeks. So I decided to accompany you today in the summer festival." He felt his heart thump faster when he saw how happy you were to see him, still unaware of the stares they were recieving from passerbyers, who were surprised from how happy the Almighty Shogun was. Upon realising how close the two of you were, you both quickly pull away from each other, embarrassed from how your lips were so close to touching his.

After calming down, you both talked about your past experiences and the friends you used to have. Which almost had you tear up.

The two of you silently stared at the ocean, simply enjoying each others company. After all, you both have lost many friends in the past, it's always nice to find a new friend that you can spend the rest of your immortal life with. That was when Jing Yuan suddenly grabbed your hand,

"come on, the fireworks lightshow will begin soon. I heard it's best to see them at Amakane Island, mind showing me the way?" You gently smile, as he pulls you up, and the two of you make your way to Amakane Island. On the way, you point out certain stands that you recommend, just like how he had done when you first came to the Luofu.

The two of you arrive at Amakane Island, of course, many people were staring. The last person they expected to watch the fireworks show was the Raiden Shogun. But at this point, the both of you could not care less. You were only here to have a good time after all.

After looking around for a good spot to see the fireworks, you finally settled on a spot where you could fully see the fireworks, it was also far away from any people, so the two of you could have the space to yourselves. The fireworks erupted in the sky, though this wasn't your first firework show, this was the first in a long time that made your heart warm instead of it aching. While you were mesmerized by the light show, Jing Yuan broke the silence

"you know, you really make my chest feel so warm." He begins, but this sentence alone made you blush, which didn't go unnoticed by Jing Yuan

"I'm really grateful to have someone like you to be by my side. But I know that, one day, we might never get to see each other again" You began to wonder what he was trying to say, you were a bit nervous that he was going to leave you, forever. Which made you worried, but your worries quickly vanished when his eyes met yours.

"would you like to become my girlfriend?" It took a while for you to truly process what those words meant, did he actually mean it? Should you accept it? After all, you two would have a long-distanced relationship, so wouldn't it be better to just stay friends? You slowly lower your head, but, you couldn't bare to stay friends with him, because you also returned his feelings. If you had declined, then it would feel like you were lying to yourself. I mean, you can handle a long-distanced relationship, right?

"don't feel too pressured to agree. I don't want to force you to be in a relationship you don't lik-"

"No." You say, cutting off Jing Yuan, you lifted your head back up to meet his eyes once again, his eyes looked shocked, he didn't expect you to cut him off like that. You lightly smiled, just to reassure him, this causes his eyes to soften at the sight of your beautiful smile.

"I'd like to be your... Partner." You say, embarrassed to say the word "girlfriend". Jing Yuan found your embarrassment amusing, causing a chuckle to escape his mouth. He grabs your hand and bows down to kiss the back of your hand. A firework explodes in the sky, just as he mutters a sentence into your hand,

"then let's spend the rest of our immortal lives together."

Jing Yuan: the ship just landed back in the Luofu, hope to see you again soon ^^

Y/n: I would like that too, any festivals coming up?

Jing Yuan: there are no festivals coming up... but it's okay, you can just visit when I'm on break.

Y/n: alright then, will you message me when you're done working?

Jing Yuan: of course. Well, I'll see you later, my love.

oh GOD I have so many asldjfljk um!!!

I'll start with my dnd/pathfinder character Revun, since I've been posting about them a lot recently!! I'm no longer concerned about sharing spoilers because I got all my party members to block campaign spoilers hehe 💕

The backstory doc i originally handed to my GM was over 5k words long, (plus there's also been several nights of me rambling in their dms expanding on all the stuff I'd Already Written) so I'm gonna try my best to. condense this lmao

Revun's bio parents were both human; their mom made a deal with a daemon while she was pregnant to save her father's life from a severe illness that would have killed him, and as a consequence of that her child was born a tiefling.

The social stigma of having a tiefling child (everyone just immediately knows she made some kind of deal with a fiendish entity) became too much for them to handle, so their mom and grandfather chose to abandon them four years after they were born, and start a new life elsewhere where no one knew them. Revun spent the next seven years in an orphanage, until they ran away to go try and join a mercenary group that passed through town at one point.

Throughout Revun's life, they've been haunted by a spirit in the shape of a black wolf with gold eyes that match their own. It only appears when they are in the middle of having a near death experience- so far, that's been twice. The first was when they were 11, and they nearly froze/starved to death out in the woods after running away. The second was after a disagreement with their boss/somewhat father figure lead to him nearly killing them at 25.

While Revun never learned all the details of their mom's deal, they at least are somewhat aware that whatever she did saved their grandfather's life. They are convinced at this point that whatever happened must have created some sort of imbalance in the afterlife or something, and this wolf was expecting a new soul that day that never came. And now, it's stalking Revun waiting for them to drop dead, to take them as a replacement like some sort of debt collector. I'm unsure if this is actually the case since I decided to leave the details up to my GM, but this is what Revun believes and they are absolutely terrified of it.

Speaking of that mercenary group, they did take them in and save them that night, but it wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Revun ended up spending the rest of their childhood in a pretty toxically masculine environment, and with an expectation placed on their shoulders to always follow orders and never try to argue, even if they may be uncomfortable or feel something was a bad idea.

A portion of the mercenary company was hired to act as bodyguards at a prestigious vineyard, of which had recently made some enemies with their business competition. Revun spent about a year and a half there, becoming very close friends with the winemaker's daughter, until the deal fell through and the company was offered more money to destroy the vineyard and kill the family/any workers on the property to make sure there were no witnesses. Revun nearly died getting their best friend to safety and trying to help any workers they could find, fighting against the only family they'd really had the chance to know.

They somehow managed to escape, and were found laying on the side of the road a couple miles away from the vineyard by some passing travelers, who were able to patch them up and drop them off at the next town. They'd been separated from everyone- their entire social safety net was gone, their worldview completely changed overnight. That was a Lot for them to handle, so they kind of just... Didn't.

They've decided to just try to move on, forget everything that happened and everyone that was ever important to them. Start a new life somewhere else. Don't think about it. Pretend it never happened.

All of this has ended up creating a guy with a lot of self loathing, abandonment issues, anxiety and paranoia, and a Very Stubborn "don't worry about it! :)" attitude.

After going through all my Dragon AU posts to make my masterpost i noticed that I've never actually talked about any specific characters. I dropped some tiny bit of general lore once....but that was about it.

So now that I've doodled Alucard, i decided to drop some general AU lore about him!

Species:

Alucard is a so-called Iceling and would be classified as western dragon.

Icelings are quadruped, two winged, of a very lean build and tend to show a lot of resemblance to wolves. They're generally covered in white fur and have feathered wings. Their paw pads, skin and nose are black while their eyes and tailfeathers tend to have bluish tones.

They're native to high mountain ranges and very cold regions.

Their fur then helps them to stay undetected in snowy areas, while the black skin has the same use as for polar bears, to stay warm.

Even though they're dragons, Icelings aren't reptiles. They're warmblooded mammals and their evolution is thus analogous to reptilian dragons, sharing a lot of the classic characteristics of a dragon, without sharing the same ancestor. Though birthing living young has a lot more advantages in cold areas then it is to lay eggs. At least for dragons that spit ice instead of fire and don't have as specialized breeding techniques like penguins. Though in general they're quite immune to freezing. A layer of natural antifreeze (i think glucose had that ability??) right under their skin, shields them from frost. A minimized bloodflow to the extremities and the skin also keeps them from loosing too much heat, making them probably very cold to the touch, while in their core they're warm.

Character appearence:

I said Icelings are usually white but Alucard isn't. What's up with that?

Long story short: gene variation and mutation still exists in this AU. So the magic term is ✨Melanism✨

Or more like pseudomelanism, cus Alucard is not entirely black. The degree of this varies with each form.

Vladcard: probably most black form of all with a few lighter patches of fur on his chest and belly.

Usual Alucard: left frontpaw and two primary feathers on each wing white, rest black

Lady-/Girlycard: mostly white with black patches scattered across her body. Ladycard & Girlycard are basically the same form, only differentiate in the age of appearance (if you know what i mean. Language is hard), depends on what Alu is in the mood for lmao

Backstory:

Has vague similarities to canon but at the same time its very different. Its kinda of patchy and probably things will change in the future but here's a summary of what i have so far:

Alucard was born into the leader family of a pretty big Icelingpack, which was having quite a lot of problems with neighboring packs and defending their territory and shite. So... environment was tense when he grew up and finally took over the pack. At some point there was a big attack on the pack and their territory, catching Alucard by surprise. The attackers, partially Tainteds, were ruthless and killed who they could, including Alucards mate and cubs at the time. He too then fell as he got attacked by another rogue Tainted. But bc they didn't really care what they were doing, they didn't notice that they hadn't killed him completely. Instead the tainting curse befell Alucard. His turn was rough, only driven to success by his own desperate want to stay conscious and alive.

So now he was an accidental tainted, with no master or guidance, no pack and unsure what the hell he even was. For a long time he stayed on his own as he struggled with bloodlust and powers he did not understand.

At some point he stumbled upon a demon (Baskerville) who was for some reason locked out of and unable to return to hell. On his own the demon wouldn't have survived on the mortal plain, but since both had something the other needed at the time, they formed a bond. Alucard needed guidance and company, which Baskerville could provide. In turn he received protection from Alucard and a body he could possess and reside in.

After gaining control over his tainted aspects, Alucard traveled north in search of new territory. He came across a piece of land that was under the rule of the Hellsing pack, lead by a strong goldheavic with the name Abraham (wink wink nudge nudge). Ofc as a stranger hanging around in some other packs territory and also injuring some residents there, when he needed to feed, (in opposite to canon he did not kill all kinds of random people just bc he needed a nibble lmao) Alucard quickly pulled the Alphas attention to himself. Since Alucard wasn't very keen on wrecking the same kind of havoc he had pretty much just survived, he formally challenged Abraham to a duel. This served as a matter of damage control, cus it would keep uninvolved dragons out of the fight and would still provide him with a pack and territory should he win.

Turns out he severely underestimated Abrahams strength and firepower, cus he got his ass KICKED. Still, Abraham was very impressed by Alucards strength and willpower and instead of killing him or driving him out of his territory, he took him in and let him join the pack, providing him with a new home.

And thats pretty much it.

Ofc i could keep going with Alucards life in his new pack but i kinda wanna make it a post of its own, so I'll stop right here.

See I've always had a different idea, that in a volume about examining yourself and changing that Neo would be the one who refuses to reflect on herself or make any sort of meaningful changes. But your idea about Neo and Ruby's duel identities was very interesting and I'd love to hear more about them (even if I'm personally unsure of Neo's past identity as Trivia appearing given it debuted in a tie in book that a bunch of rwby fans probably haven't read).

I definitely understand the theory that Neo is going to double down, and wouldn't be surprised if it happened, but man I am so attached to Chaotic Neutral Neo Politan who isn't Ruby's friend but at least doesn't want her to die.

Like I desperately want them to just beat the shit out of each other come out the other side like "well. I'm too tired to kill you and at this point it's more of a hassle than I thought it would be, so I guess we'll just be allies until we can get the fuck out of here." But I honestly have no idea how valid that take is lmao.

Take note that I haven't actually like, read Roman Holiday, but from what I've heard about it I've hopefully gleaned the right themes from it. So on a more serious note, what I find interesting about their potential confrontation is how Neo had, for all intent and purposes, found her true self. Being with Roman had freed her, it allowed her to be the type of person that she had been taught to suppress. But I think she also attached that sense of identity onto her relationship with Roman, so without him it's like she's been cast back into the wind and has spent the past 6 volumes trying to find another anchor.

Put that in contrast with Ruby, who's had this idea of who she wants to be since she was a kid, and has striven toward that goal no matter how difficult it's gotten - to the point of her own detriment.

Like, "who is Neo when she's not a part of a duo" and "who is Ruby without the moniker of Huntress"

"what would happen to Ruby/Neo if she continued down the path that she's on?"

You see it right??? I'm not crazy, there's something there

But as for the connection to Roman Holiday, I doubt it would be that difficult to tie her backstory into the show without taking too much time. I think the themes I've taken from it are pretty easily picked up by the show alone too.

Like, 2003 Bishop already was a jerk, but that dude just takes it even further.

OH BOY ENABLEMENT WAHOO!!

I definitely agree that IDW Agent Bishop gives the 03 original a run for his money in terms of awfulness. While he does have more of a "tragic backstory" per se, 03 Bishop somehow has more honor and redeeming qualities in comparison. The way both their respective stories end contributes a lot, too.

SO, first: a brief observation on IDW's character. There will be spoilers for those who haven't read the comics yet, just as an fyi. Bear with me, it's been a few months since I read up so I might bungle some of the details.

Jonathon Bishop is certainly less formidable in terms of accolades than his predecessors. He didn't found EPF, he inherited it, and it is not a well-oiled machine, extension of his own will the same way it is for 03-- in fact, a lot of his subordinates are written as individuals and don't seem to like him as a person, much. But what makes this Bishop scary is how he is driven beyond what should be reasonable. Even in situations where it would probably be beneficial for him to back off, he tends to keep pushing, anyway. He'll put himself in a rough spot so long as he can ensure he'll be screwing over his target, too.

This Jonathon guy pretty explicitly has the capacity to care about others, too, he genuinely loves and respects his father. Which is what makes it all the more terrifying that he was willing to kill him at his own convenience-- once again, just to ensure he could rip away his enemies' advantage. He justifies it after the fact, like he gave his father a proper death, better than wasting away in a nursing home, but personally I think that's just a cope. While we know he can care, he very seldom offers that to anyone else. With his own employees he kinda tends to be downright mean, or at the very least blunt and unconcerned.

IDW's Agent Bishop is one that sees the entire world as hostile, so being on his side doesn't really spare you. The only person we know he didn't see as an enemy was his father. He has been faced with so much fear and judgement over his true appearance that he is desperate to prove himself just as human as everyone else; he believes the appearance of being human is what lends one humanity-- when, in fact, it's how one treats those around them. This is why he leans so hard into Othering anything non-human, to justify his own place in the world, and also why the mutants tend to have more humanity than he ever did.

This is also why he appears to have much less of an honor system than his 03 counterpart. IDW Bishop is FAR more emotional and a little less professional than the other. He acts based on what will make him feel the least uncomfortable, working backwards with his logic to justify his actions. Intelligent as he is, he isn't reasonable. His ego is far greater because it's built on a DEEP and intense insecurity with himself. (In comparison, 03 Bishop may have a dubious sense of personhood, but he has never been shown to be unsure of his right to exist or his place in the world.)

Also btw it's cool af that he's a blend between 03 and 2012 Bishop's concepts. Like I can't praise enough how creative that is, especially with how smoothly it fits into the lore of IDW and their Utrom. The fact that he's still human, but his mech also originates from Utrom tech that EPF salvaged is just SO COOL. I think this alone would cause both other Bishops extreme discomfort lmao

As an aside, I've seen some of the fandom attack his true appearance and that's kinda fucked up. He thinks it makes him lesser, but it doesn't. The way he looks is not the root of the problem, it's the way he was treated because of it and the way he internalized that. He needs to make an enemy out of mutants in part because deep down he believes what people like those scientists in the flashback said about him. So like, yeah, it's kinda a bad look when fans acts the same way as those dudes. Literally there are so many better things to insult IDW Bishop on. I mean you've seen his general personality, right? The way he acts is what makes him a monster.

(Hmm. I said this was supposed to be brief, didn't I? Woops.)

NOW! COMPARISONS!

There is a LOT to delve into between IDW and 03. They have very similar plots on the surface, but every fine detail is so very different. IDW is a fanatic, more at the mercy of his emotions and whims than I think he even realizes. 03 is driven to unreasonable lengths, as well, but he is surprisingly cold about it, when you look into his actions deeper. While IDW reacts and then works backwards to justify it, 03 is shown to be able to suppress his impulses and strategize properly, with his more fanatical qualities being a fun little bonus he indulges in sometimes. This manifests in their respective success rates; IDW often ends his confrontations with a loss of something, culminating in his final confrontation and death. 03, on the other hand, tends to walk away successful a good chunk of the time, and even when he doesn't he usually gets something out of it, anyway.

Their ages have a lot to do with these differences and how they can be interpreted, too. 03 Bishop is old, he straight up comes from a bygone era. Of course his thought process would be a little wild and off-the-wall to most people, his circumstances are so unique and he is so removed from what a normal person's experience might look like. IDW has a normal human lifespan, so he has a little less room for understanding (though granted, he did not have a very common upbringing, either.)

Another big one is that 03 does not give a damn about threats originating from Earth. This is why he kinda disregards mutants beyond their usefulness to his science-- and that one time he almost accidentally caused an apocalypse, but I digress. 03 Bishop is still like, a xenophobic motherfucker, but he doesn't have it out for mutants or avians or Y'Lyntians or what have you, because working within his logic, they belong to earth. It's not especially about looks, to him, the same way it is for IDW. IDW, on the other hand, hates anyone that isn't specifically human, and wants them dead.

IDW's motivations are very internal. The fears that fuel him come from an intense sense of not belonging, of being Other'd and feared by the people around him. He projects that onto an external enemy so he can deny it. The fear that motivates 03 is an external one. He is terrified of extraterrestrial forces taking away his sense of security and control, fueled by his extremely traumatic abduction. It created an Us vs Them in his mind where he was on the side far weaker. Earth was safe, on earth he understood how things worked, but in the sky there was confusion and agony. He endeavored to ensure the sky could never bring that down to the earth.

John Bishop is a monster, but he's a monster that can be bargained with. Jonathon Bishop is a monster, and if he decides you're one, too, he'll seek to destroy you no matter the consequences.

Now, 12 Bishop is such a departure that he can only be vaguely compared with IDW (and basically not at all with 03-- though his disposition might be comparable to Fast Forward Bishop's.) Specifically, 12 Bishop might as well be the exact opposite to IDW Bishop in every way. He is extremely measured; even when he's clearly frustrated, we can see him tempering himself to try solve the issue at hand. He has proven to be notably selfless, often prioritizing the safety of others (even when the people of earth should be aliens with a fraction of his lifespan, to him,) over his own. He seems to function under the assumption that every living thing has a right to a life, and will act accordingly to protect that. He's basically the antithesis to everything the IDW version stands for imo.

One thing that fascinates me, as well, is that each incarnation of Bishop has a wildly different age range. 03 is about 230-something, 2012 Bishop is likely older than the planet Earth itself, and IDW is like, 40. He's the only one we know so far that has a normal human lifespan

On the prompt of any of them interacting: the drama potential here is great. Like with their ages, all the Bishops also have WILDLY different goals.

03 Bishop has a passing scientific interest in mutants, but his goal of protecting earth from outside forces does not really concern them that much when you get down to it-- he's more often than not busy doing his own thing, and clashes with the turtles tend to be incidental (after their initial introduction; he got what he wanted, so he didn't seek them out after.) In fact, I strongly suspect after a point he would begin to see the turtles as more useful alive, considering the amount of times they've been integral to protecting earth.

12 Bishop is straight-up an ally and friend to the turtles. Their goals align in a common need to defeat Krang Prime, but he goes beyond that to make sure they and their home are safe, too. It's specifically noted he's not supposed to get involved and help them like this, but he does anyway because he's a genuinely kind person (and a responsible adult, even, who has been shown to not want to put teenagers in the line of fire more than necessary. But hey, we'll save that for a future post of his own.)

IDW Bishop specifically despises anything non-human, and goes out of his way to target mutants. He is fueled by deep-running insecurities about his own appearance, projecting his own fear at being percieved as a monster onto external "threats." He can't feel like a monster if they're the REAL monsters. Compared to them, he's human, he thinks. He'd despise the other two for their percieved complacency and ignorance.

IDW and 03 definitely would not get along, they've got the exact wrong mix of "too similar" and "just different enough." But both would absolutely HATE 12 lmao. Specifically, 12 being an alien bearing the same name as them would hit IDW too close to home with the similarities in their body situation-- which, yknow, tends to manifest as a murderous obsession, with him. 12 generally tries to seek peaceful resoltuion when possible, but I can't imagine he'd have a very high opinion of the other two, either. Considering his strong sense of justice, he'd probably be down for a fight to the death.

And since I'm on the topic of IDW, I want to take this opportunity to enthuse about two other EPF members original to this series that I am very much attached to. The first of which being Wayne Bishop, himself. THIS guy is so interesting to me, for how little we get on him. As this universe's founder of EPF, he's instantly got so much going on, already. He's either former CIA or former FBI, and slowly moved into investiagting UFOs and other paranormal occurrences in an official capacity. He acts like a very respectable professional, but you KNOW there's gotta be a little quirkiness in this old guy to take that route. And he's got FAMILY DRAMA which is always very fun. He struggles to balance his heavy workload with being a family man, to the point where I think it's implied his marriage falls apart? And his solution is to involve his son in his work, quite literally, letting Jonathon stay in one of the facilities and spending a lot of resources in ensuring he will be able to pass as "normal" if he wants to. He had his son's mech designed after himself. He loves his kid and his wife very much and he still fucked it up. He's so interesting for that.

The other is AGENT RAVENWOOD BABY WOOOOO. She is so damn cool, I feel like I might enthuse too much to be able to make any coherent points. Her design, her DESIGN. I feel like she also borrows-- or has in common-- a lot of concepts from 03 Bishop that were not inherited by either Wayne or Jonathon. She's a failed human experiment that now has longevity and a strange body-- one that offers benefits and drawbacks alike. What's fascinating here is that she worked closely with Wayne in EPF's early days, and volunteered to undergo experimentation as part of the organization's research. She and Wayne were friends, and that makes her tense relationship with his now-grown son very interesting, to me. She also proves to be empathetic and willing to try and understand the mutants as people, though her efforts were wasted on Bebop and Rocksteady. I think she's so dang rad and I want to see more of her so bad. Especially now that her friend's son and murderer has died, too.

I also need to shoutout IDW Stockman. I love that guy so much. He might be my favorite incarnation of the character so far ngl (though Mutant Mayhem has Giancarlo Esposito voicing him so. This may change.)

To round us out, here's a fun little headcanon/theory I have in my back pocket: in any universe where specifically John Bishop, double-centenarian doesn't appear, it means he just never got abducted by aliens. He lived out his days in the 1800s with a normal human lifespan. Maybe he's somewhere on the the IDW Bishops' family tree idk

This part is just going to be about theories as to what could happen and details that I think are neat.

1. Reason behind Tommy's attack: So Tommy's been more skittish and on edge since Wilbur almost murdered him, that is a big given though he's been fairly good at hiding it. He's been carrying a knife around with him so that was a Chekhov's gun, very well played Bee. My best guess is that something happened that caught Tommy off guard (he hasn't been out since the ball, people are constantly pointing that out so I'm assuming it's a mix of him being anxious about almost dying and him being out for the first time in a while), he accidentally slashed Jack who saw it as an attack, maybe he said something before that gives him reason to suspect that that's why he was attacked, I don't know but people are not very logical if they have just been stabbed or otherwise endured bodily harm via knife. We don't know what Jack's exact wounds are so that is my best guess under the assumption that it was a slash of some kind on maybe his leg or something since Niki was helping him up but I'm not dying on this hill. Jack is a smart guy and probably won't jump to 'attempted murder' over one jab and if it was on his leg, it probably wasn't very severe since he would need to run back to the temple.

Basically, I don't fucking know but that is my best guess. My theory is about as solid as swiss cheese.

2. Ponk not giving the bottle of pills out of fear that Wilbur would overdose? Yeah that checks out. Even Niki is afraid of that. I do think that while Wilbur is not actively a suicide threat, he is very unstable and all it takes is one night or moment when he's alone and a sharp downward spiral for him to decide to restart the Pythia cycle. It's a smart move by Ponk but very very sad. But now that Tommy has joined the attempted murderer club, currently populated only by the dude who tried to kill him, I wonder if he's actually going to get those pills. I would hope so but I'm not sure who would get them for him other than like Phil and Techno but they'd be very occupied and I'm unsure if Wilbur would ever think about opening a door for anything when Tommy is in emotional distress and not the Deathlings favourite little guy right now.

Even if Wilbur knows that they wouldn't hurt Tommy, I don't doubt that his protective streak will kick into high gear, maybe to a point that he wouldn't trust anyone around him, especially if Tommy doesn't want to see anyone & in general his reaction to possibly seeing other people once he is out of crowd and back in his room with Wil.

But idk, we will see

3. Shrike symbolism!! I love that Wilbur is like "man, the little birdie in my chest could be a shrike but like, I'm not cool enough for that. I'm just a songbird" but Niki is kind of gently nudging him towards "don't underestimate yourself" while also just making a general statement, at least that's how I see it. But also maybe foreshadowing. Wilbur finally snapping and going sicko mode?? I'm waiting for it. I will not be caught off guard again.

4. Niki and Jack's backstory :((

We get another look at how dogshit and corrupt this country is and we get it from the perspective of someone outside the palace. Someone who first hand experienced the brunt of the corruption and just wahhh. She's being so open and vulnerable as to what happened, it's fucking awful with what's to come. I cannot put into words how distraught this makes me, especially when I was so happy with like 'oh Niki and Techno crumbs!!'. How dare u.

I think I'm done for now though. You'll know if I have anything else to say lmao

Great chapter, I am so nervous about the next chapter and what's going to happen in it.

yeahhhh the bottle of pills thing is probably okay for wilbur right now given he's a lot better than he was doing just a week before, but ponk and niki weren't sure of that. also not gonna say anything else regarding tommy getting painkillers. you'll have to wait and see for the next chapter.

the shrike symbolism was so fun to include i've had that written down for AGES now. niki was definitely trying to nudge him into thinking better of himself, so we'll ahve to wait and see how that progresses

(also just a note bc I don't really know where else I could talk about this, but shrikes are known for impaling their prey sometimes with their beaks. chapter 11, which is when wilbur has his panic attack after slipping up about schlatt, is called 'a beak jammed into a bone' referring to the bird in his chest and how it felt like it 'impaled' his ribcage when that happened :))

niki's backstory gave me a lot of opportunity to flesh out how fucked up the society they live in is. just the corruption that sits at the heart of it all. and yes techno and niki crumbs i love their dynamic <3

In what way? // I think it’s time to finally give backstory as to where I knew Pearson from before Tallyho! He’s a lovely OC that belongs to my friend Juno, and before I knew what Tallyho was, back when I was still heavily into RvB, a former friend was running a tabletop game centered around the RvB and Halo universe. Bun introduced Pearson as a throwaway character, because bun was reusing a Cyberpunk character as a DMPC, and at the time of the session Juno had joined and it was a nice little callback to the campaign that had finished. After that, I didn’t really hear much about him outside of callbacks when another friend of mine brought up his Cyberpunk OC, and Juno would chime in in relation to Pearson. Then, Tallyho happened. So, I’d say my first impressions were “aw, a callback”? LOL. Now, I’m…kind of scared to talk abt him in general? I do love him to death, and I’m like…I’m unwell about Pearson, but he’s not something I talk about with Juno. Lots of personal issues and context I can’t provide, but most of all it’s because I’m a fuckin weenie and I think if she knew how unwell I was about Pearson she’d think I’m weird- (also shou if you actually read this I'm begging you to not share with Juno if you get the itch to I will actually kill you) 4: "Fake Out" - It’s 3 AM. 👻 GHOST - do they believe in ghosts? what are their "ghostly experiences", if any?

Mercy: 100% yes, no questions asked. She hasn’t had any experiences but she just Knows that they exist because she doesn't see any reason why they wouldn't.

Reed: Yes, however the “ghostly experiences” he thinks he’s had have been in places like Dunwich Borers, or when he’s on certain hallucinogenic chems, or when he’s just Not in a good mental state and starts seeing shit; I wouldn’t say he’s a very reliable source of information on paranormal experiences.

Delta: They’re unsure, however they try to be respectful in places that seem like they could be haunted so they don’t piss off any ghosts that might be there

👊 PUNCH - are they quick to violence?

Mercy & Reed: answered here!

Delta: They prefer to try and work issues out first but they’re also not going to hesitate if they think violence is the only option

☕️ HOT BEVERAGE - do they prefer hot or cold drinks? what is their favourite drink?

Mercy: Cold, & her favorite drink is iced green tea.

Reed: Hot, & his favorite drink is mulled wine.

Delta: Cold, & their favorite drink is mutfruit juice.

🌙 MOON - what is your oc's greatest wish? how far are they willing to go for it?

Mercy: She wants to use her prewar work to figure out a way to make FEV into a legitimate cure like originally intended, & she’s pretty determined to make that happen. She’s also interested in studying ghouls, but the FEV research takes priority for her.

Reed: He’s pretty simple, he just wants to take the Brotherhood & Institute out. He’s more than happy to die in that process but I wouldn’t say that’s exclusive to this, he’s Like That about a lot of things.

Delta: They don’t really have anything huge they’re working towards, they just want to help people(& other synths) whenever they can. Later on, after they start traveling with Reed, they really want to take out the Institute as well but that goal is out of the same desire to help people.

🕷️ SPIDER - what is their biggest fear? do they have any irrational / mundane fears?

Mercy: it’s a reasonable fear for a wastelander imo but kind of irrational considering her whole background in FEV research & development: centaurs. She just thinks they’re really disturbing and they freak her out like nothing else.

Reed: He has a pretty bad fear of being abandoned + having no control or autonomy, which ...really isn't that unreasonable considering he was stuck in a freezer for like 200 years. He's also very freaked out by the idea of being a ghoul and he's terrified of potentially going feral.

Delta: Heights, which is pretty rational for them imo; 200+ year old half destroyed buildings and bridges aren’t exactly sturdy.

🌌 MILKY WAY - what was the inspiration behind your oc? what was the first thing you decided about them?

Mercy: She was initially my RDR2 OC, I started off using her as a placeholder/name drop in Reed's backstory while I was working him out but I decided that she'd work really well as courier six. I wanted a full ghoul OC and opted to slap that on top of RDR2 Mercy's whole ruthless scary bounty hunter with a very ironic name thing, plus the whole combat medic turned medical researcher pre-war backstory I'd worked out with Reed. I sorted out appearance first for her, mainly because I already had her appearance + general personality worked out in RDR2.

Reed: I wanted some guy to put in outfits, and I wanted him to look cute with Danse lmao. That was the whole idea and it's spiraled out of control since then. I 100% picked his appearance first and added everything else afterwards.

Delta: So I don't think I've actually gone over their whole origin story on here yet - Delta's the result of me wanting to play with that whole "came back wrong" trope with Reed & Mercy. At the time that I started working on them, Mercy was being used only in reference to Reed's backstory, obviously as far as he's aware she is definitely dead after he gets out of the freezer. However, due to her 100% ethical, definitely not sketchy government-funded medical research projects that took place in Boston, she(along with a few other researchers) had DNA samples stored in one of the facilities. At some point those samples fell into Institute hands and were used in gen3 synth development prior to the Institute getting their hands on Shaun. This turned into an experimental line that was later decommissioned following the broken mask incident, and at some point prior to being terminated Delta escaped from the Institute. They later end up as a scrap & robotics trader, which is how Reed initially meets them - and immediately loses his shit because they look almost identical to prewar Mercy, except they're clearly a synth + a completely different person. Basically it's a giant mess, this all happens a few months after Reed gets defrosted so he's still grieving and he's all kinds of fucked up over it. It leads to him coming across some of the questionable projects that Mercy was involved in and spurs on his whole "learning that the prewar government was actually super fucked up and entities like this shouldn't be allowed to exist" process that eventually ends up with him taking out the Prydwen and trying to take down the Institute. He does get over it though and ends up being good friends with Delta + they become a companion for him. I actually chose their personality prior to appearance which is odd for me, I usually start off with appearances.

👑 CROWN - what does your oc want to be remembered as? why?

Mercy: She’s the most ambitious out of the three and wants her research to be her legacy. She wants to be remembered as someone that’s helped society and has helped prevent unnecessary suffering. It definitely ties into the guilt she has over her past with FEV development & with the Enclave, and she’s somewhat trying to redeem herself from that.

Reed: Yeah, about that… he’s been trying to go off and die in a war for ages, I don’t think he really cares all that much about being remembered.

Delta: They want to be remembered as kind and selfless. They don’t have any specific reason beyond just loving those aspects of human nature.

📎 PAPERCLIP - a random fact.

Mercy: She’s 100% lying any time she says she’s a doctor; she was in medical school at one point but was drafted before she could finish. So basically she has

Reed: He likes stealing from higher-ups to be petty. While in the BoS, the only proctors/higher-ups he doesn’t steal from are Ingram & Cade. After he defects and starts solely working with the RR, he pretty much makes a game out of stealing from Carrington.

🌈 RAINBOW - what advice would they give to their younger self?

Mercy: Don’t take sketchy courier jobs

Reed: Don’t blindly follow paramilitary groups

Delta: you’re allowed to set boundaries and you don’t have to help every single person

🌠 SHOOTING STAR - if they could make any wish with no repercussions, what wish would they make?

Mercy: Unrestricted access to an intact, completely functional lab like the ones she worked in prewar.

Reed: Some variation of Margot’s immortal or Margot’s going to live as long as he does. I may have tweaked my synth lore/HCs a bit so she doesn’t have the same short lifespan as a non-synth dog lmao

Delta: Rechargeable fusion cores.

💓 BEATING HEART - what gets their heart racing?

Mercy: She has a bit of a thing for casual flirts. She’s also definitely not above getting flustered by pretty girls

Reed: Basically any sort of positive attention if we’re being realistic, especially if it’s coming from someone he’s already caught feelings for.

Delta: Pretty girls in general lmao. They’d probably short circuit if a pretty girl hit on them

💔 BROKEN HEART - what could their partner do that would absolutely break their heart?

Mercy: Cheat. She’s poly & has no issue with being in open relationships, so she’d be pissed if someone still went behind her back like that.

Reed: Ghost him. Being left with no warning or closure would probably be devastating to him.

Delta: Check out emotionally. They don’t get RSD very much anymore but that would 100% set it off

My Fanfics - Inactive, Ongoing, and Undetermined.

I've been going over what fics to like, stay inactive on and what ones I'm gonna try and finish-

Most of the ones I deem too OOC, too stupid, or that I just straight-up don't like anymore, I won't list here.

Whisper the Wolf - Wanderer: Inactive. If I ever decide to pick this up again, since I like the concept, I just hate what I've done with it, I'd probably restart it completely, following a similar plotline to the first chapter. It felt OOC how violent Whisper was, and I ultimately majorly dislike the second chapter.

Whisper & Tangle - Sonic Prime: Inactive, but just to note, this isn't my Sonic Prime fic featuring Mumble and Ivy- that's done. This fic was too gory, over-the-top-angst, I think.

Sonic x Elden Ring: The Scattered Emeralds: Undetermined. If I'm being honest, I LOVED THIS CONCEPT. I loved writing this, and love the concept. But I think I wrote it very, very badly. I might come back to it someday, but it's undetermined for now.

Belle & Tangle - Camping Trip: Inactive, this was a oneshot I never finished. It's meh, but I don't like it that much and wouldn't revisit it, most likely.

Tangaze - Road Trip!: Ongoing. This was, or atleast I think it is, one of the best fics I've ever wrote. I genuinely like this one, and the only reason I didn't continue it was because I couldn't think of how. I'd love to finish this, I just hope it doesn't come off as too rushed or anything.

Blaze the Werecat: Undetermined. If I enjoy writing Tangaze - Road Trip! alot, I might revisit this to write some more tangaze, but I'm relatively happy with how the series is at the moment.

The Best Sonic: Inactive. I don't know why I didn't list this as a finished work, because I'm not planning on going back to this- It was alright, but ultimately, I wouldn't know where to go with it next. ive been kinda uninspired and unimaginitive recently lmao

The Coffee Shop - Sonic AU: Undetermined. I liked some of this, hated some other parts. I might write some stuff about transfem tails, or relating to this fic in the future, but it's fate is unsure at the moment.

Tangle & Whisper: Roommate AU: Undetermined/Likely To Be Ongoing. This was my first ever fic. Why did any of you like this. what. how. It's cute, I guess, and I might pick it up again awhile in the future, if anyone would like that.

STH - New Beginnings: Inactive. This was one of my first, very long multi-chapter fic but it's formatted badly and I don't like it anymore. also i like. havent updated this in ages lmao so its kinda obvious its inactive

Maple/Future AU: Ongoing. I'd love to continue this. I want to make a multi-chapter fic sometimes, focusing on Maple, but I'd have to write her backstory first- which is kinda complicated.

Ok some random thoughts on season 2 from my brain lmao:

I WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT NORA. They like don’t tell us anything about her other than the singular shot and ughhh it enrages me.

I hated Seth’s character, which I know is at least somewhat intentional but I don’t like watching shows where I want to punch one of the characters every time they are on screen.

Unsure if I’m reading too much into her words but them showing Shelby right after Gretchen says she has people on the inside bothers me because I really don’t want a Shelby double agent storyline. Also I am sad about shoni being the way it was. I hope that gets resolved a bit if there’s another season.

From a very random standpoint, I don’t like the experiment because it doesn’t make sense from a scientific side and that annoys my head. Which I recognize that is such a random annoyance considering Gretchen clearly has some problems that she needs to address on her own, but I’m just not enjoying the experiment standpoint.

I actually didn’t mind the boys being involved. It definitely wasn’t necessary, but I didn’t find it too bad. Which considering the reaction I saw on tumblr I thought I was going to be more annoyed at them. Also I cannot tell if I’m supposed to be picking up tension between Leah and Fatin but I definitely did.

I rambled a lot in this lmao. In conclusion, I liked season 1 more. I still want a season 3 because I want the story to be completely concluded. I liked this season but not my favorite.

Fucking hate Seth. I read a spoiler about the SA so I knew it was coming so I hated him from the start. I kinda wanna know how I would have felt about him at first if I didn’t know

I’m very conflicted on the Shelby double agent thing. I like the idea of a Shelby working for Gretchen but secretly doing it to help the girls and playing Gretchen. But I just feel like it could go wrong so many ways. I don’t want a Nora situation where people turn her into a villain for being manipulated. And having the camera focus on her as they were trying to escape made kind it feel too obvious to me. I don’t know how to feel

Yeah the experiment is confusing to me. In season one I was able to write it off as Gretchen being crazy and biased and not knowing how experiments work. But now that the experiment is so plot heavy (while it was in s1 too a lot of it was survival still and mysteries and now there’s test subjects put together in a phase of the experiment and now they pretty much know they’re test subjects) I don’t know what the writers plan to do with this. Will there be an actual point to this?

For me I didn’t mind the boys inclusion I just think they over did it. Like Raf’s whole backstory pretty much appointed to nothing. In small doses it think the boys would have been way better. But with just how much time was given to them I think they ruined some of the flow of the show and what made the first season so captivating

S2 was SO Leatin coded. Like I’ve loved them since the beginning but like also I try and think critically of the direction of the show and not get sucked into shipping goggles. And I think they could pass it off as platonic until the different her scene. FATIN LOVES A HER THE SAME WAY SHELBY LOVES TONI. THAT IS EXPLICITLY GAY

I know you talked about it first but saving Nora for last because I love her my whole heart. She’s been my favorite since I was halfway through the first episode. And I was a firm believer she was alive so watching it made me feel vindicated because I WAS RIGHT. But then I just got sad because she didn’t get any lines. We got a sad look at Rachel. There was just so much potential. I wanted more of her in HQ. I wanted to see her miserable and angry and wanting to fight for Rachel and her friends. She never wanted this. All she wanted was to help her sister

Oh hey!! Welcome to my blog, you're my first ask! Dunno if I'm supposed to choose one for each question or do all of them, so I'm doing the latter. This is gonna be pretty long, so buckle up lol

Why do you like or dislike this character?

I'm pretty neutral with Adaman, he's a character with solid design and personality, but I just wish there's more story to him. The only noteworthy story stuff I find about him is that he has a lot of siblings, which make for a fun dynamic, he's a bit unsure being a leader (altho that appears few and far between), and that's kind of it? He's kind of boring imo Adaman fans pls don't come @ me ;A;

Irida, on the other hand, I actually get attached to a lot more than I expected. She has the same solid design and personality as well, but I like that there's more focus on her personal conflict. Since she's young and a recent leader, the insecurity of being a leader is stronger on her side, not to mention the whole thing with Palina. You can actually see that she's growing as well over the course of the main story.

Lastly, Volo. He has a death grip on my soul Unsurprisingly my fave, mainly because of the angst potential he has and his way of thinking. Personally, I take one look on his idea of "The world is unjust so we need to start over" and thought 'oh, big mood'. (The same reason I got attached to Cyrus lmao) Unlike Cyrus tho, he's a lot more human and he acknowledges it, which is where I like to imagine how shit goes down with him, especially with his vague backstory.

8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?

When it comes to all of them? Just water down their personality by A LOT. One thing I saw in how ppl treat them in fanfics, especially with Volo, is either making him a terrible irredeemable monster with zero personality other than 'evil' and 'master manipulator' and making him the butt of the joke, or he's a soft fluffy UwU boy that instantly regrets what he's done and becomes good after the MC kisses him or something. Like I get that it happens in memes for the former and x reader indulgences for the latter, but cmon guys. Once or twice is fine, but I feel like it's so overdone. You can't just erase the canon like this. Volo is a compassionate guy. Volo knows well the weight of what he's doing / will do to the world. Those things can and do coexist.

I also have a really long tangent for Volo being compared to Kamado in terms of evilness and being hated / loved by the fandom, but that's for another post if you actually want to see it.

While I don't see much of their depiction in fics (because I'm not wading through 157 submas or x reader fics just to find a decent fic of them), I do also think that, like Volo, Adaman also suffers from his character and story shoved aside because ppl focus more on the fact he's hot, be it in fanarts or fics. I do occasionally see some interesting takes on his character that are explored further, but it's either a) a hidden gem, or b) overshadowed by the main plot of more popular fic focuses (again, submas AUs or x readers)

And for a main character, Irida is just really shoved aside in the fic department. You have to actively scour for stuff about her, although I don't actually do that so I don't really know how bad this gets.

14. Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character.

Adaman is not formal. At all. Assigning him a steampunk aesthetic because of the association with time is really cool, but expect him to be fussy about it. He is 100% casual, bonus points if the clothes are long sleeved and baggy or loose in any way. (Which is ironic since those are a nightmare to clean in boggy terrain. Whoops, sorry bud) In a way, his modern drip is actually really fitting.

Irida is definitely the opposite of Adaman. She NEEDS her clothes to be at least somewhat revealing, otherwise she won't survive the summer. I can also see her choosing light colored clothes instead of the black undershirt in her modern drip since it reflects light (and therefore heat) instead of absorbing it. Also jewelries. Nothing too excessive, just a bracelet or maybe some earrings to match her outfit.

Volo is definitely an ancient greek aesthetic, although he may be open to other things as well. Like Adaman, his clothes tend to lean on the more comfortable side, although he doesn't mind revealing clothes too much. His default is thick jackets or hoodies with fur linings (and the fandom also agrees since it's the consensus modern drip for him lmao) but I imagine him wearing more traditional celestica clothes in private since his heritage is near and dear to his heart.

Literally no polyester, rayon, nylon, or any synthetic fabric for these guys. They would die of rashes within 30 minutes. (Aside from Volo, but he's still dropping it after a while)

22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to this character? Something you don't like?

While I'm mainly a Volo x Reader fic main (yes I'm one of those ppl pls don't judge ("o_o)) I actually enjoy the fics that analyzes their characters and behavior more. Potentially also worldbuilding and relationship dynamic with some other character (that don't involve romance) is also really good and I keep coming back to them.

Some of my recommendations for Volo in Ao3 is teach me a kinder world (whatever you can bring) and a lot more Volo and Cogita stuff by absolutenadir. Another one is 成功を祈ります (English ver.) and while it's presented as an x reader, reader barely appears and there's zero romance scenes at all. After the story itself, there's a really detailed breakdown of Volo's character as the author has a philosophy masters degree (bless your soul Laurentine, hopefully you're doing well out there) and I think it's a good foundation for understanding and writing Volo as a character as well.

While I don't actively read Adaman and Irida focused fics, there is The Importances of History (Class) by annasofroma which is a series dedicated on worldbuilding and relationship building. While the main focus is on the Galaxy Team, I've read all of them and there's at least one fic in there where both are prominent figures and actually express a distinct way of thinking. There's also same earth; same air; same sky which explore their sibling-like dynamics.

But on that note, shoutout to jdphobe for making that and Apotheosis as well. Definitely the most invested I have ever been in a long fic. There's two other legends arceus fic of theirs as well that focuses on Volo but be sure to give them a read as well!!

Ideas for Legendverse Champions ( not all)

Lance

Is often called "old man" by Cynthia. He is only 3 years older than her.

Generally very stern and straightforward. But also very paternal, a very good source of comfort for the likes of Blue and Silver.

Bc he's very straightforward he didn't immediately notice how Red was handling his new position. He regrets it deeply.

Fucking Dork. Likes puns and capes and sweets and gossip magazines -

^ the puns get worse when he becomes a father ( Silver)

Overall very respected among the leagues. Not entirely sure if he was a champion before Blue, but that's something I'll think about later.

Wallace

Still deciding when or how long Wallace became champion tbh. If it was literally at the end of the magma aqua plot I feel bad bc his reign was so short. But anything longer and I have to figure out how long Steven n Wallace were champions respectively. I'll figure it out eventually

Thanks to Juan he can speak several languages- including his own home dialect

Used to be pretty uptight as a kid. Training with Juan made this rigid exterior melt away but what really speed ran this was meeting Steven motherfucking Stone. Wallace used to hate this man lmao.

Wasn't expecting to be someone Jin goes to for comfort but he'll gladly be a shoulder to lean on for the kid.

Cynthia

I want her to do more in platinum but I dunno what lol

Knows Cyrus from a while ago, but has lost connection with him at some point. She doesn't really blame herself for how he ended up though.

Kinda like Steven in that she enjoys being champion but likes doing her own thing more. She's not irresponsible by any means, but her focuses tend to be elsewhere. Sometimes it seems Lucian is running the league.

I would say in the modern era the champion title went like this: Bertha -> Palmer -> Cynthia. Palmer wasn't really there to help Cynthia with the process of being a champion. While she no longer resents the man, she isn't totally fond of him. She tries not to carry that out on Barry, especially bc the boy just wants to impress his dad.

^ so bc of that, Cynthia really does try to be there for Danica when she champion. It's easy enough bc Danica was literally 11 when she gained the title, so it was moreso Danica having the title, but Cynthia pretty much did everything else. She's perfect by no means- again she likes doing her own thing- but she really is trying.

Used to be very close with her little sister Calypso. But Cynthia's fame is as a blessing as it is a curse. It kinda drove them apart, and Cynthia isn't sure what to do to fix things.

Diantha

The media LOVES pointing out her "rags to riches" backstory. It is true that she wasn't exactly rich when she started out, but she wasn't like. Some dirt poor girl that was finally seen for her talents or some shit. Her life was honestly pretty average. She did have big dreams to make it big one day, but that can go for anyone, no?

Best friends with professor Sycamore. Unsure how they met ( either through childhood or meeting at the legendary evolution guru's training stuff) but they've been close friends ever since. Life kinda prevents them from hanging out as much as they used to, but they try to have monthly- bi monthly meet ups.

Knows karate. Do NOT fuck with her.

my character for the aforementioned game that we haven't touched in a year is named tatjana eirhart and i need to post the info from her backstory doc i sent my dm while i prep bc i forgot how cool she is

some info: viktor mordenhein's daughter, viktoria, has long since killed him and taken his place as the dark lord of lamordia. after killing him, viktoria found his last "living" experiment in his lab: a recently no-longer-deceased 13 year old tatjana cleophia eirhart.

the rest of the people are kind of canon-compliant? maybe? i'm not actually sure bc i never play in canon d&d worlds lmao

also worth noting: i know her backstory technically would probably put her more as a reborn than a dhampir but! she's not like a blood-sucking vampire style dhampir, she feeds on shadows and further into the game my wife is planning a twist on her ancestry.

BACKSTORY

Tatjana is unsure of what hole Viktor Mordenhein dug her out of before using her for his experiments or even what those experiments were, but she does not particularly care. Her memories of her life before are faint and out of her control, and therefore she tries not to spend much time worrying about them.

She has always found herself being what others might call “nosy,” but what she prefers to identify as “inquisitive.” Rooting out secrets and unveiling truths is a noble profession in most places - too bad Ravenloft is not most places. Insatiable curiosity paired with her eye for detail often finds her at odds with those around her, though sometimes that silver tongue of hers is able to get her out of harm’s way.

Her relationship with Viktoria confounds the outsider world, with many wondering if they are lovers.

Her current goal between investigations is seeking evidence to prove the prophecies of The Eternal Order are accurate.

Recently, her focus has strayed towards revenge: against Azalin Rex, for his mistreatment of Viktoria. She will make him suffer as her loved one has.

PERSONALITY, QUIRKS, & FLAWS

A woman of many masks, capable of changing them near-instantaneously when needed

OCD-like tendencies, largely brought about by the Eternal Order’s motto of “cleanliness is next to godliness” and her own internalized shame about being brought back to life

Near-constantly smoking a drug of her own creation that quiets down the shadows and cleanses her insides

There is a slight but noticeable delay between her movements and those of her shadow

APPEARANCE & AESTHETICS

Long, black hair with a white streak at the front almost always worn in a braid, light blue eyes

Signature leather duster with a plethora of different pockets, both obvious and hidden

White button-up shirt, sometimes paired with a sharp vest if she’s feeling particularly fancy

Viktorian (lol) style choker, black lace with an anatomical heart locket

Gloves that she rarely takes off, and when she does it is usually only to replace them with another pair; she has a few for various occasions and circumstances

i haven't decided yet if she actually has romantic feelings for viktoria or if it's just a rumor but knowing me and my penchant for angst, she's probably at least a little bit in love with viktoria but viktoria doesn't see her that way bc it'd probably be a little weird if she did.

also!!! the big twist for this is that the other player is playing azalin rex's daughter and they've been forced together by fate. little does the daughter know, however, that tatjana was in the area bc she was stealing azalin's lich phylactery 👀 that's going to be fun when he needs to start feeding it again.

Hey, the holidays are approaching so gather 'round and here's a stupid little Yu-Gi-Oh! holiday friendship story straight from me to you children;

I will immidiately start off with some backstory: I've been doin' the duels for 11 years now. I thank my best friend, who made me a mixed Harpie deck for my 16th birthday. I’ve always kept it, its now in 2021 probably my best built deck out of 3. Anyway, I'd walk to his house after school and play yugioh with him and a group of friends. Him and I would go to the card shop together and trade/duel every Sunday. Made better friends with other kids at school because of it and made more friends outside of school from it that are still in my life. (One kid I went to highschool with makes an actual living off this game, proud of him) Years after graduation, him and I moved hours away to the city together from our small town. Maybe 6 years ago? Life happened, I got a boyfriend who wasn't into Yugioh, I saw my friend less since I didn't like driving in the city (🤷‍♀️)

I'm with that boyfriend for 3 years. Around this time 2 years ago, he's been cheating on me for a year and a half, breaks up with me, kicks me out when I don't take him back. My best friend and his housemates let me crash on their living room couch with my dogs for a few weeks until I get back on my feet. We drink and play a fuck ton of yugioh like when we first moved to the city.

I get an apartment, work schedules don't line up. He takes me out for Valentines Day cause I desperately post online offering feet pics for buffalo wings and we play a yugioh.

I get a new boyfriend. He plays yugioh!!! He and my best friend meet for the first time. My boyfriend knows my best friend as "Kaiba". Blue Eyes cards out the ass, most brutal Blue Eyes deck, confident, well knowledged on everything going on with the game, and spends lots of money on cards. My boyfriend definitely talked way more than my friend was ready for, my friend was unsure about his energy lmao. Anyway me and my boyfriend buy a house an hour away from the city and I move.

Another year later,

About the cards: a few days ago I ask my best friend if he's doing anything for thank givie. He is but he insists on making time. I drive up to the city after closing the store and scoop him.

He asks me if I want his yugioh stuff, with the exception of his Blue Eyes, and Dark World decks. I humbly accept, knowing how much money he was literally handing me, and told him should he ever want anything back, it will be his. (He's just more into Magic and really only plays that now.) Not pictured are his:

A spellcaster deck I needed cards from

A D.D. deck, the unstoppable most bullshit troll/anti-meta deck from the peek of our heavily played time.

Yes, his 54 (and still goddamn counting I assure you) card "Blue Eyes White Dragon" collection is glorious, but the glorious part to me is he essentially gave me...our childhood to keep because he "knew I'd take care of it"

I did. I rearranged all those Blue Eyes cards out of the old thicc boi 3 ringer from MY childhood in a safe pro binder and sent him pictures. I watched Duel Monsters and broke into tears as Solomon preached to Kaiba about what that card meant to him, why he wouldn't ever part with it.

But yeah. This was a really big yugioh friendship move and I'm still emotional about it and wanted to share I guess.

Also this makes me both Yugi and Kaiba AF even though his collection almost doubles mine.
