BnHA Chapter 406: Secret Menu Hero Name
Previously on BnHA: Kacchan was all “NOT EVEN DEATH ITSELF CAN STOP ME!!!” and saved All Might so easily and spectacularly that it immediately became clear why Horikoshi had to keep him on ice for fourteen months straight. All Might was all “thanks for the assist Bakugou-shounen, now please allow me to show my gratitude by lending you my SWEETASS ROBOT ARM that nearly gave makeste a fucking heart attack when she saw it, HOLY SHIT.” Kacchan was all “I JUST LIKE TO SMILE, SMILING’S MY FAVORITE” and he smiled the BIGGEST EVER and indeed has literally not STOPPED smiling ever since, and my heart is warm. <3333
Today on BnHA: A jubilant menace stirs in the air. A chill runs down Kid For One’s spine. A sudden crash behind him. He whirls around, only to be met with the face of Chaos itself in all its raucous glory. The boy is relentless. His pursuit, unending. His blows, unyielding. And his mirth, as perplexing as it is petrifying. What the fuck. Why won’t he stop laughing. He’s laughing. Horikoshi is laughing. The readers are all laughing. You’re laughing. Kid For One is shitting his pants while this cackling sleep paralysis demon gleefully chips away at his frail sanity, one frenetic BOOM at a time. And you’re laughing. :|
doo de doo, don’t mind me, just gonna scroll past the first couple pages of this chapter so I don’t get spoiled for the outcomes of all the other mini-battles I haven’t finished catching up with yet :’)
though I already caught a glimpse of a bloodied-up Shouji before I realized what was happening, so unfortunately that particular cat is now out of the bag. can’t believe the suspense of whether or not Shouji would survive his fight is now completely ruined for me. can you even imagine how tense it would have been wondering whether or not Shouji would get killed off. ...and you know what, even as I type this, I’m realizing that this is really not the type of sarcasm that translates very well across the internet, lol. and even if it did, it could just as easily come across as “WOW, MAKESTE REALLY DOESN’T CARE ABOUT SHOUJI AT ALL, HUH” sarcasm, rather than the “it’s not that serious guys, it’s just that there’s no possible way Horikoshi could ever convince me that he was actually going to kill off one of the kids” sarcasm it was intended as! so yeah. you know what, I’m just going to shut up about all this now and move on. glad he’s okay though
so now back to the Main Character Battlefield, where Kacchan is currently having way too good of a time for someone who actually WAS killed off by Horikoshi fairly recently
Tumblr media
All Might is all “he’s so fast!” and yeah he really is lol. ngl, I had a fair amount of Kacchan endgame theory stuff riding on his ability to meaningfully upgrade his speed, so all of this is very satisfying to hear! and to be fair, I do wonder how much of it is owed to the boost from Gearshift as opposed to Katsuki’s own newly acquired exploding bloodsweat. but I’d like to think that even without GS he’s still incredibly fucking fast at this point. like easily still a Top 3 BnHA Speedy Boi
well shit lol now Edgeshot is reminding everyone that even prior to his “death”, Kacchan was briefly able to surpass Tomura’s speed with his upgrade
Tumblr media
well there you have it! so yeah, that basically confirms he’s currently even faster than All Might was at his peak. just a homicidal little comet casually zipping around all of these other slowpokes
lol
Tumblr media
just for the record, I still have no clue how Kacchan’s bizarre new upgrade actually works, but I am fairly certain that sweat is NOT SUPPOSED TO EVER DO THAT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES
like seriously though Kacchan, doesn’t this hurt? like at all?
(ETA: hahahaha. ouch.)
Tumblr media
well whatever!! if Tomura was able to bypass Erasure’s loopholes with all of his hand nonsense, then Kacchan’s sweat has my permission to zoom around inside his bloodstream and randomly explode inside him to somehow make him faster without actually harming him in any way, AND THAT’S FINE. the time for nitpicking ended roughly around the same time that a soft-spoken paracord man dove inside of him to forcefully restart his organs
LOL
Tumblr media
“DON’T GET ME WRONG, I COULD EASILY KILL HIM ANY TIME I WANT! I JUST DON’T FUCKING FEEL LIKE IT RIGHT NOW, OKAY. THAT’S DEFINITELY WHAT IT IS, AND IT’S DEFINITELY NOT BECAUSE HE JUST EXPLODED ME SO HARD THAT I SAW THE FOURTH DIMENSION”
meanwhile back in Dekutown it looks like Tomura has maybe finally broken free of his impromptu Blackwhip toddler leash
Tumblr media
whatever man. how are you still not redeemed yet since I last saw you in chapter 369. you had like an entire year’s worth of chapters. get it together already!!
lol what in the actual fuck is “instadeath”
Tumblr media
is this just a Funny Ha Ha fanscan way of referring to Decay?? or were there some additional Tomura quirk developments that I missed out on which were somehow even wilder than the infinityhands
Deku keeps saying that he’s for serious REALLY going to run out of Gearshifts now, but I don’t fucking believe a word this kid says tbh
Tumblr media
it will be the “final one” once the fight is finally over, and not a moment sooner. if I know anything about Deku, which I do. and Gearshift, which to be fair I really don’t
-- oh, fuck yeah
Tumblr media Tumblr media
what the hell is up with that swirly hand shit though, Kid For One. you better knock that off right now
OH MY GOD THIS FUCKING GUY FOR REAL THOUGH!!
Tumblr media
:/ well at least this time you’re being ignored because he’s actually scared shitless of you. shh. don’t tell anyone
holy shit this chapter keeps hitting me with these random bits of information Destiel meme-style and it’s the wildest fucking thing
Tumblr media
so while I did obviously clue in to the fact that something must have gone down in the Endeavor+Hawks+Toko+Jirou VS AFO battle, on account of AFO very clearly not being in Jakku anymore, I have not yet caught up to that part of the series, so I don’t actually know anyone’s status! hopefully they’re all alive and relatively unmaimed! although they very clearly failed at their One Job, but oh well
that being said, “AS STRONG AS DARK SHADOW” looooooool omg. DS what did you do. my boy left an impression. I cannot wait to read that, oh goodness
KFO YOU LITTLE TWERP, DIDN’T ANYONE EVER TELL YOU YOU SHOULDN’T LOOK DOWN ON OTHER PEOPLE OR ELSE YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO SEE YOUR OWN WEAKNESSES
Tumblr media
seems like someone ought to have told you that. could have spared you a lot of pain and agitation to come. more’s the pity
hee hee hee
Tumblr media
hello there
so now my feral wolfchild is having a big internal monologue about how he’s finally mastered his new superquirk through the power of being an unrepentant masochist
Tumblr media
fsdkfj. listen up Kid For One, he may be “nothing but a pebble”, but I promise you, if you could fucking hear this kid’s thought processes right now, you would already be halfway across the planet. living out the rest of your days in hiding while checking underneath your bed every night to make sure this little hobgoblin isn’t secretly waiting there to pounce at you
FSDLKFJSLDKJFL SDFLKWJEFLKWLF WLKJFLDKS
Tumblr media
(ETA: you guys will never believe this but I found a sneak peak of the as-yet-unreleased soundtrack which will accompany this scene in season seven of the anime! SPOILER ALERT!!!)
ACTUAL GHOUL. I AM ACTUALLY SCREAMING. MY SON HAS BECOME GENUINE NIGHTMARE FUEL
THIS IS MY FAVORITE, FAVORITE, FAVORITE THING EVER YOU GUYS. HOLY SHIT. I CAN’T BREATHE OMFG
Tumblr media
OUCH. HA! HAHA.
(ETA: once again, I know this sounds highly improbable, but I actually found some 100% authentic footage from the anime version of this scene! I’m telling ya. once this hits the airwaves minds are gonna be blown.)
Tumblr media
HE IS THE “WHO” WHEN YOU CALL “WHO’S THERE”!!! HE IS THE WIND BLOWING THROUGH YOUR HAIR
Tumblr media
you have to admit though, this really is the exact type of behavior you’d expect from someone who literally just got spat back out from the pits of hell
oh my god hold up what is this sudden tonal whiplash?
Tumblr media
you guys I seriously had to sit back and take a deep breath and calm myself down for a moment, because Final Form Katsuki is just So Much. like actually just THE MOST. that I had to physically force myself to slow down and take these next few panels seriously and resist the urge to keep on making jokes about how CLEARLY EVEN HIS PARENTS ARE TERRIFIED. LOOK AT THEM. MASARU IS SOBBING AND MITSUKI’S HAND IS TREMBLING. IN THE WORLD’S MOST EPIC TWIST, AFO GOES DOWN ONLY TO BE REPLACED BY KACCHAN HIMSELF AS THE FINAL VILLAIN!!!
but yeah I had to stop and calm down from all of that because, oh. Masaru has his head in his hands. and Mitsuki’s trying to get him to turn around, but her hand really is shaking though. and it just really hit me that the two of them have spent the last... thirty minutes...?? swept up in the highs and lows of almost losing their child, and then getting him back, and then watching him be so strong and so good and SAVING ALL MIGHT and RESTORING EVERYONE’S HOPES AND DREAMS. and they must be so incredibly proud, but at the same time he’s still caught up in this fight, and the fight is still not over, and they know the tide could still turn again at any moment. and I can’t even imagine what that must be like. especially with them having already watched their son die once today
oh my god Horikoshi you cannot freaking do this to me!
Tumblr media
goddammit. and now I’m all caught up in my Bakufam feels. DAMN YOU HORIKOSHI, THE MITSUKI TEARS WERE THE LOWEST OF BLOWS
and now Kid For One is once again whining about this “pebble” who’s pissing him off even worse than All Might. you love to see it!
OH MY GOD?!?!
Tumblr media
oh my lord?! is it finally happening?? ARE WE FINALLY GETTING THAT SWEET, SWEET CONTEXT AT LONG LAST? WILL A MAN FINALLY HAVE A NAME??
-- Horikoshi I swear to god
Tumblr media
YEAH NO SHIT. NOW THAT YOU MENTION IT, THEY DO KIND OF BEAR A RESEMBLANCE. YOU KNOW, IF YOU SQUINT
Tumblr media
okay, color me intrigued. so that is indeed why AFO was crying when we previously saw this flashback! this is actually so interesting to me, because it’s literally the one and only time he’s ever shown real emotion outside of generic battle-related stuff (anger, shock, surprise, etc.)
so he says Kacchan pisses him off because he looks like Two. and every time he gets reminded of Two, he remembers how his brother died. and, I guess, made him feel sad for the first and probably last time ever???
holy shit, Kacchan was right
Tumblr media
he really is AFO’s Final Boss. like even more than he realized
*~*~*OH MY GOD*~*~*
Tumblr media
HOLY SHIT YES PLEASE AND THANK YOU!!
OFA DOS PARTIAL NAME REVEAL AT LONG LAST!! FULL NAME REVEAL AND ADDITIONAL FLASHBACKS TO FOLLOW NEXT WEEK...?? YES? MAYBE? PLEASE????
I swear to god, if Horikoshi deliberately kept Two’s quirk and name Top Secret for YEARS only for them BOTH to wind up NOT ACTUALLY BEING REMOTELY SPOILERY OR WORTH ANY KIND OF SUSPENSEFUL BUILD-UP IN ANY WAY WHATSOEVER, I will. just sit here and be puzzled, I guess. lol. “sometimes I just like to fuck with people like that.” OKAY?? WELL GOOD JOB, THEN??
“Kacchan of the Bakugous” was so out of left field and I am grinning so, so hard right now. BAKUGOU NO KACCHAN. that’s officially the second Heroes Rising reference in as many chapters! sure feels like A Certain Mangaka is building up to a Certain Reveal about SOMEBODY maybe possibly still having SOMETHING which will remain unnamed for now, but which rhymes with “done for mall”! and that’s all I’m gonna say about that
except that it’s not, because I’d be lying if I said I didn’t also have fifteen other entirely different emotions about him proudly introducing himself to AFO not as Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight, but as someone even more powerful. “BEHOLD, it is none other than I... Kacchan!!! ( •̀ ᴗ •́ )و lolo get fucked you big dumb fart”
heh. but seriously. just me sitting here basking in the fact that he uses the name Deku gave him. the fact that he decides not to go with his formidable, much-agonized-over hero name in this one moment, but instead chooses to use a far more terrifying moniker, even if AFO doesn’t realize the significance. because Dynamight is a hero, yes. one of the very greatest and strongest!
but Kacchan? Kacchan is the boy with a dream. Kacchan is the boisterous child laughing at the danger, unafraid of the challenge. smiling in the face of the tallest wall. Deku’s motherfucking Image of Victory. hahahahaha. ouch
anyway so yeah! what a chapter. this may have actually derailed me because now my brain just wants to write a bunch of character metas even though I STILL HAVE THIRTY MORE CHAPTERS TO READ. and not to mention I still have to actually post all of them as well lol. but whatever! we’ll make it work. long live Kacchan of the Bakugous, and may his Secret Menu Hero Name always strike fear in the hearts of his enemies

Class 1A Dynamics (Part 2)
This is going to be consolidated, so I apologize for the long length, but it's going to serve as a conclusion as to why I believe Class 1A's reputation as a found family is undeserved.
In my opinion, the Final Exam arc and Forest Camp arc is when we start to see the cracks in Class 1A's dynamics, as well as their more problematic moments that don't match how they supposedly are as characters. We do get really nice moments of Momo offering her home and services as a tutor to a handful of her classmates (Jirou's interactions with Momo's mom were really cute), but that's it.
Kirishima hears from Bakugou's former middle school friends how they and Bakugou bullied Izuku for his Quirklessness... and promptly ignores it. Mr. Anti Bully hears that the role model he looks up to was/is a bully, and does NOTHING about it. Not even when Bakugou gets them kicked out of whatever place they were studying at and blames IZUKU for it does he do anything other than say, "Lol, classic Bakugou!"
One of the biggest moments, in my opinion, is when Ochako, Ida, Momo, and Tsu (I think it was them? I can't remember) have no objections to Bakugou backhanding Izuku. They hear Recovery Girl saying that they have no communication... and take it at face value. No trying to stand up for him, no saying that Bakugou's the instigator between them, nothing.
(To say nothing how Sero failed the exam for being taken out of the arena unconcious, even though Bakugou passed despite ALSO being unconcious when he was dragged out of the arena 🙄)
The actual camp itself was pretty nice in regard to student interactions. Shouji was worried for both Tokoyami and Izuku (Izuku looked so cute being carried by Shouji 🥹), and Izuku made sure not to place Bakugou's safety over Tokoyami's when Dark Shadow went on its rampage. Tokoyami in turn was perfectly willing to sacrifice his life for Izuku, Shouji, and everyone else's safety. Aoyama risks his life and position as the traitor by clearing a path for Bakugou to get to camp. It was extremely annoying how Todoroki had to keep telling Bakugou not to run towards the villains and not to make the poison gas worse by using his Quirk (collateral damage is a concept Bakugou doesn't give a FUCK about), but I guess that was nice or whatever.
Then came the rescue.
Shouji aknowledges how guilty Izuku and Todoroki must feel about Bakugou's kidnaping, and then Kirishima and Tsu get into an arguement about whether or not to leave the rescue to the adults. I HATE how Kirishima guilted Izuku into joining the rescue. Izuku had broken limbs and a high fever to the point of having seizures. He was unconscious for three days, and for him to be told, "You can still reach him with your arms!" when everyone in class knows Bakugou would (and DID!) refuse Izuku's help is disgusting. In theory, it's nice how they take Bakugou's ego and feelings into account when they decide a small team is going to rescue him (I'll have more to say on that later). But then, Ida tries convincing Izuku not to go... by punching his sick and injured friend hard in the face. Ida, what the FUCK? Did he ever apologize for doing that?
And then not only does Bakugou not ever thank Momo, Ida, Todoroki, Kirishima, and Izuku for rescuing him and risking their place at UA, Aizawa then acts as though the class needs to regain his trust (even though they had no idea the rescue team went through with their plan) when it really should be the other way around. Great father figure he is, right?
So they move to the dorms, and we get a really nice moment where Tsu tearfully apologizes for saying that the rescue team were acting villanous in saving Bakugou. This is all well and good, but then we get to the Licensing Exam. As awesome as it was to see Ida helping Aoyama secure a place in the final round, as awesome as it was seeing everyone defer to Izuku's judgment, it all was completely undone by the bullshit house arrest.
I've gone on and on about how it's my least favorite part of the entire story, but seeing 1A not aknowledge Bakugou's bullying of Izuku yet again really soured my opinion on them. Ida especially gets the brunt of my criticism here, because as one of Izuku's best friend, he should have figured that Izuku not only didn't want to break curfew, he's NEVER looked for a fight when it came to Bakugou. And then when Izuku apologizes (barf) for defending himself, they all accept it like he did something wrong.
I HATE it, and for a while, I hated 1A because of it.
Then we get some smaller moments between that and the stupid Dark Izuku arc that are pretty nice. They express worry and relief for those involved in Eri's rescue, Izuku encourages Jirou to not be afraid to express herself musically, and Mina teaches Aoyama how to dance before the School Festival. Everyone criticizes Izuku for running around and trying to get candy apple ingredients for Eri, and they make fun of him for getting in trouble after the Gentle Criminal fight, blah blah blah. No one cheers for him or encourages him during his mock interview with Mt. Lady, but whatever.
Then Izuku leaves UA.
Not ONCE do ANY of Class 1A consider why he left, even though he literally tells them in the goddamn letters he left for them. Not once do they call out Bakugou for being the actual reason he has such low self-esteem and self sacrifical tendancies. Not once do they consider having just his closest friends find him and bring him back. After all, most of them admit they don't really know Izuku on a personal level. They don't even stand up for Momo when he jumps down her throat for not calling him by his stupid hero name.
Nope, they all decide to just bumrush him and let Bakugou lead the charge.
They let Bakugou make fun of him, project his own flaws onto him, and not once aknowledge that Izuku is neither in the physical condition nor mental condition to be hearing any of that. They then quite literally beat him into submission. Sure, some of the classmates try saying nice things to him about how he helped all of them (Dark Shadow was so gentle with Izuku 🥺), but Sato tries guilt tripping him about Eri, which is just gross.
Then comes the infamous Youtube Apology, where Bakugou talks about Izuku's Quirklessness and how that made him lesser than Bakugou in his eyes. No one reacts to any of this, and instead of just letting Izuku sleep or getting him to the fucking doctor, they throw him in a bath like that'll fix anything. We do get an awesome moment where Tokoyami and Sato call out Bakugou for bullying Izuku again despite supposedly apologizing, but that's chump change, considering what all they put Izuku through.
And then comes the traitor reveal.
I don't blame 1A for being angry at Aoyama, considering how his actions put everyone in danger, but I think it's so strange due to two things. One, Aoyama was clearly coerced into being a traitor. His parents were the ones who made the deal with AFO, and Aoyama was obviously remorseful for his actions. Two, just look at Bakugou. He was the one who not only ran towards the villains in the first place, but everyone had to keep him from making everything worse when they were trying to protect him.
And yet who's the one that gets treated with consideration and kid gloves?
Bakugou.
I can't say anything about the Final War, because everything is so fucking messy, but I guess I will say how nice it is that the class protects the girls from Mineta's sexual harrassment and don't take it laying down.
To close off, Hori did a piss poor job in showing organic development of 1A as supposed super close friends and found family. They all deserved better than what they wound up becoming, and it's just really sad all around.

╞╪╪╪╪╪╪╪╪╪╪╪╪╪╪╪╪╡
Shouta watches as Hizashi backs away from him with tears in his eyes, and he wishes he could take it all back.
“You need to get your shit together, Shouta. I can’t even look at you right now.” Hizashi’s voice cracks, and he finally turns to exit the staff break room, furiously scrubbing his eyes.
Nemuri hums from beside him, “Yeah, I’m with him, Sho, you’ve been a fucking mess since the raid on Friday. I think you should go back to your therapist.” She pats him on the shoulder, not unkindly, but missing the usual warmth she exudes, “Give him space, yeah?”
And then he’s alone.
His eyes roll, and he moves to sit back down in his chair.
“Fucking idiots,” His voice echoes in the silent room, grading to his ears.
Yeah, the raid. He hasn’t felt right since then, either. Saying things he doesn’t believe, hurting his friends, hurting Hizashi.
There has to be someone interfering, and the unprompted speaking and crude outbursts serve to further his theory.
His body has been in a constant state of pins and needles for three days. He feels like a puppet with invisible strings.
“What do you think, Eraserhead, should we hit him harder or apologize?” His mouth asks, a teasing lilt to his voice.
Who are you? He tries to ask. What do you want?
Whoever it is must not be able to read his mind, at least there’s that.
His legs carry him to the staff bathroom, and he locks the door before heading to the mirror over the sink.
Shouta stares at his face, unable to look elsewhere in the room.
“Wow, you need a nap, dude.” His mouth voices, eyebrows scrunching together, as his hand comes up to brush his eyebags. “This is honestly pitiful, I don’t know why Shigaraki has such a thing for you.”
Shouta very nearly vomits trying to process that information.
Okay, there’s a league member infiltrating UA, they don’t know what his goal is, and he’s buddy-buddy with Shigaraki.
But Shouta can’t tell anyone.
Godsdamn shit ass mother fucker.
He smiles to himself in the mirror, teeth on full display, sharp canines adding to the unsettling effect. Yeah, this is why he doesn’t fucking smile.
The villain nods in approval, poking his teeth, “Not bad, not bad.” He hums, running a palm over his scruff idly.
He examines Shouta’s clothes, unwinding the capture scarf and setting it down in the sink.
Shouta’s forehead is glistening in the light, hair flattened down with sweat. Maybe a side effect of sharing his body with someone else. The feeling of overheating is muted, but he’s sure the other feels it heavily.
The villain pulls his long-sleeved shirt over his head, leaving the loose black tank Shouta usually keeps on for bed. His shoulder muscles tense with the motions, his own eyes drawn to the movement.
Oh great, the bastard checking him out. If someone walks in right now he thinks he’ll die.
He continues down, patting his pockets for shit. He feels around, his hand landing on the switchblade he keeps hidden, and the small bottle of eye drops.
The school bell chimes, signaling the end of the lunch break. “Oh! Looks like we have class now. Let’s go meet our children, shall we?”
At least get my damn capture weapon.
Shouta steps away from the mirror, swiveling to the door and smacking it open with a bang, startling some last-minute stragglers who’d been chatting outside.
His body walks towards the hall of classrooms, obviously unfamiliar with the layout. They peek in every room along the way, probably looking for one of the kids they’ve seen on TV from the sports festival.
Finally, their eyes lock on Mina’s pink skin, and they enter the classroom with confidence.
Shouji gives him a strange look as he enters. The kid has always been perceptive, he has probably picked up on his change in demeanor.
“Aizawa-sensei, you’re late,” Iida observes, looking back and forth between the clock and his teacher, looking unsure.
Shouta huffs, “And you’ve got a stick in your ass, Ingenium Junior.”
Who talks to their students like that?!
“Wh- Sensei!” Uraraka squawks, gripping Iida’s shoulders.
The kid himself frowns, not looking too put off by the statement, but wary.
“Alright,” Shouta starts, “I don’t have shit planned for today, so we’re just gonna sit here like a bunch of idiots. Which one of you can lend me 4000 Yen?”
Momo raises he hand and Shouta’s hand waves her on, “Um, is it for… hero work?”
Shouta scoffs, “What? No, I’m just fucking hungry.”
Bakugo huffs in his chair, slumping, “Fucking hypocrite.”
Shouta frowns, flicking a pen at his student, “Loser. Go suck a dick you little shit.”
The boy gapes at him, looking around the classroom to confirm what he just heard.
Midoriya is vibrating in his seat, a mix of nervous and angry energy emanating from him, “Sensei, are you feeling okay?”
Shouta glares at him, “Yes, I’m fine you quirkless pest.” Quirkless? What the fuck?!
Midoriya pales, Black Whip activating out of instinct and flicking towards Shouta’s body, stopping three or so inches from his neck.
Shouta’s quirk activates without his permission, eyes lacking their usual burn.
“Sensei, what the fuck?” Shinsou stands from his desk, pushing his chair back.
Yes please brainwash him and end this goddamnit.
“Is that how you brats talk to your teacher?”
“Tell us what you did with Aizawa-sensei,” Hitoshi demands.
Shouta has hope for all of two seconds before he realizes that he is feeling the effects of Shinsou’s quirk. Which means-
“Oh did you use your quirk? I guess the jig is up then.” The villain says, “Interesting, I bet it did work on him though, too bad I can’t hear what he’s saying.”
“That means this is Sensei’s body, since his voice did answer and the quirk didn’t work…” Midoriya mutters, squinting at the floor.
“Yeah, which means when I do this, you should panic!” He slips his hand into his pocket, whipping the knife out at lightning speed and flipping it out, holding it to Shouta’s throat. “If I die I go back to my body, but little Eraser here gets it.”
Momo gasps, moving forward instinctually.
“Ah!” The knife moves slightly to the side, and a dull sting erupts along his jugular, “No moving, brats! I’m going to need the green one to come with me.”
He snaps his finger and a gust of wind blows from behind him.
“Shit, the league!” Kaminari shouts, pointing unhelpfully to where Shouta cannot see.
Ah, so Kurogiri’s portal then. Awesome.
Midoriya holds up a shaking hand, nodding, “Alright, I’ll come, just don’t hurt him anymore.”
The boy walks up to the portal, sighing when Shouta gestures for him to walk in first.
He looks behind him briefly, taking a good look at his classmates, before stepping through, disappearing into the abyss.
Shouta turns back to the room, smiling as the knife lowers slightly, “Alright, thanks for your help. Don’t follow!” He chimes, before moving his arm to the left and dragging it across his throat in one fluid motion, then plunging the five-inch blade into the center of his chest.
Shouta feels the villain’s presence leave him, exiting his back like a ghost.
He gasps in pain, falling to his knees and watching out of the corner of his eye as the portal closes. The sound of blood dripping onto the floor is the only thing permeating the silence until the kids finally process what has happened.
He falls onto his back and someone shouts. They crowd around him, Momo putting pressure on his neck and Iida calling for help in the background.
They’re the last thing he sees before he passes out.

Currently Watching:;
Unforgotten Night – Kim x Kamol – loving the communication skills these two have, of course the scenes where Kamol pulls Kim into his lap to have most of these chats is nice to see as well. Also the way Kim is being more comfortable showing “love in public” the kiss at his office was cute. Baiboon and Khom –I love seeing their screen time so far, I mean the text sent while still within feet of each other… we really need more of them and here’s hoping that these two get together at the end.
Minato Shouji Coin Laundry – Shin x Asuka~Even though there is an age gap Shin seems mature for his age sometimes. I like that Auska is not giving in….just yet…after all Shin is still in high school. (I’m behind an episode or two one this one) but plan on catching up this week.
The Eclipse – Akk x Ayan – LOVE these two ---Ayan has threatened the “you punch me once, i kiss you once” thing twice now, and I’m hoping that their first kiss will be seeing the punch and Ayan being true to his word.
21 Days Theory – X x Q –These two are a mess but love them for it.  X’s face expressions are a tad funny at times and Q is being protective not really knowing what to think of his relationship with X…Loved the way Q’s uncle had the talk with Q’s mom and then what he said to Q for thinking he liked X…
On Cloud Nine – Although I’m a tad confused on this one, only three episodes in and we saw Twins which is Mork and which one is Tiew? Not sure if I’m going to be watching this one to the end but I will at least watch one more before I decide.
Love In the Air – Phayu x Rain – Only one episode in and they have some heat going on..of course most of it is from Phayu moving a tad fast for Rain. I’m interested in the bet though....I mean Phayu is clearly interested in Rain so why is he having him try to have him fall for and make him want to be boyfriends? From the Trailers it looks like they are together later on so who really is the winner of the bet?  I’m also looking forward to seeing the other couple Sky and Prapai.
Vice Versa – Tad behind on this one as well. I plan on catching up on this one as week

fanon gripes
- aizawa woobification. stop making him soft for no reason its fucking annoying (because you cant navigate fanworks without tripping over ten of these for every half-decent characterization of him) and such a poor read of his character its unreal
- all might vilifying. inko vilifying. both of these characters made mistakes but are good people and fans vilify them just for the sake of writing deku angst because apparently his life wasnt bad enough already? cmon. boring and lazy
- hawks, dabi. these two usually get shipped together (both colloquially and as a relationship) by making them victims... and nothing else. they have no character outside of that.
- hpsc. its corrupt (fucking obviously) but the way people make it out to be some mastermind organization is... so wrong. theyre a govt organization and have all the pitfalls that come with that. the indoctrination fanon infers is cartoonishly severe and grating to read - pure edge, with abusive means to no logical end. id compare them to the fbi/cia - evil shit, not magic, not clinical. clerical, maybe.
- red shoe theory is trite and easily disproven. imo part of what makes quirklessness compelling is that its invisible but my god red shoe theory is the dumbest attempt to circumvent that and its so popular. god. just accept that deku has shitty taste already
- shinsou woobification. the character barely exists and people still manage to butcher him, amazing. i dont see this phenomenon happen with a similarly assholish character in monoma but monoma characterizations overcompensate by making him too over the top/exploding him with copied ofa just to be edgy (the concept was more interesting before a ton of people parroted it)
- deku doesnt like touching people unless their name is rody soul
- deku also likes to run away when faced with powerful foes. he is the "flight" in fight or flight to pair with bakugous "fight." this is like, a huge theme in their fight and persists throughout the story. idk why people screw this one up but they do - deku only fights when he believes it to be necessary (entrance exam, stain, all might, overhaul, gentle, ending, shigaraki, every fight during villain hunt, all movies' endings) or when cornered (deku vs kacchan (both), usj, muscular 1, the entirety of movie 3 leading up to the end). most of these fights are some combination of both, notably
- listen this is more of a pet peeve than anything but if you put shinsou in class A from day 1 you should rearrange the seating chart to match (he sits ahead of shouji). theyre seated in syllabic order.
might think of more later idk

Ok ok ok. So theory. A DFO theory.
What if. Izuku had a quirk when he was born (perhaps a telekinetic power combining AFO’s pulling out quirks and Inko’s attraction), assuming the quirk exists even if the physical presentation isnt until it emerged, which makes sense with the logic of Mutant types.
So. DFO stole baby Izuku’s Quirk, and then fueled his son’s obsession with heroics (buying him Hero Merch, encouraging his For the Future books before he was hurt in the AFO OFA battle etc) and in particular All Might, so as he would be a hero in the face of danger, and also ensured that Inko and Izuku never left the vicinity where All Might would sort of patrol.
Thus Izuku was Primed to be found by All Might as his successor and would be so trusting of his Favorite hero and so fed up with the Quirkist society, that he wouldn’t question the negatives of getting such a quirk.
Because DFO wants one for all. He’s desperate for it. But he theorises that OFA might reach its full potential if it was passed along to a genetic relative to the First, and he’d want the most optimal Quirk as possible.
And when he saw Izuku break all his fingers in the Festival, he didn’t throw his forces out immediately to capture a boy with little to no protections outside of UA who displayed characteristics of OFA, because he wanted to see if stewing in the crockpot of their shared genetics would bring out anymore potential (spoiler it did)
Sort of psychologically traumatic if Izuku found out that he was basically born of a bastardised underground Quirk Marriage, his childhood torment as a Quirkless child in a society that puts power in the hands of Quirks that never had to happen, and his every motivation puppeteered by a man who has nothing but bad intentions purely to incubate a quirk that may or may not work the way DFO theorized.
He would be stuck in a weird world where he wouldn’t want to be a villain because, DFO controls the underworld, and he must be questioning being a hero since DFO basically conscripted him into being one.
So he and his dear husband Shouto decide to retire from Heroics as the youngest hero retirees ever but who also faced the worst of society in being forced into Heroics, and open a School for Gifted (aka Xavier’s) for children who are abandoned/kicked out/abused by society or family. Not a Heroics school, just a school where they can grow up peacefully, learning to control their Quirks, being raised by people who understand (could see Shouji, Tokoyami, Aizawa and Hitoshi all volunteering as Hero guest speakers) with Iida Tensei as the PE teacher, All Might as the English teacher, Hawks as… idk something.
Okay I love this and I want to read it

Ochako Uraraka should have been the UA Traitor
1) She could be. She was in all the scenarios the traitor would be in: she was in the 1-A training camp, was there when they were all planning to rescue Bakugo (something that actually takes out most people: Jiro and Hagakure were knocked out by Mustard's gas so they wouldn't have heard, all the people who went to rescue Bakugo are out, Bakugo himself was kidnapped, Midoriya's the protagonist, Tsuyu's motivations for not coming have been elaborated on, Iida, Momo, and Todoroki are all from hero families and have lived too sheltered lives to be approached by villains). As for the others, Tokoyami was also almost kidnapped, Shouji and Ojiro we know nothing about. There are other theories that go more in depth about this point, but basically, if we cancel everyone out, that leaves Kaminari and Uraraka (and Aoyama who... yeah).
2) Her family. There are actually two main points for this: one, her motivation. We know her main motivation is to help her family, and who's to say that a teenager growing up in a lower-class area who probably saw less of heroes than, say, Midoriya, wouldn't grow bitter and desperate enough to make money in a less legal way? Sure, we have her whole thing about wanting to see people's smiling faces, but that came later. Her motivation starting out was to make her family's lives easier, and being paid by the league of villains to betray a few kids? Sure, why not. Additionally, there's that her parents themselves could be involved in some shady business; we don't actually know much about them or their company, just that it isn't doing so well, and in the world of MHA, construction companies probably get quite a lot of business from rebuilding after villain attacks. Either from desperation or just convenience, her parents could have links to the LoV or the yakuza or whatever themselves.
3) It would parallel Kayano Kaede from Assassination Classroom, who I love.
4) It would hurt a lot - both the audience and the characters. The traitor, in order to be worth it, should have been someone who both the main character - Midoriya - and audience cares about, which more or less eliminates Ojiro, Shouji, Tokoyami, and Hagakure. This also eliminates Kaminari because though the audience cares about him, Midoriya really doesn't. Meaning, the traitor should have to be from Midoriya's main circle. Obviously Aoyama isn’t, but imo the emotional impact would’ve been greater if he had been. I like what direction they’re going with him, paralleling Midoriya, but... honestly, I didn't care much when he was revealed. Yeah, I was surprised since I thought Horikoshi had forgotten bout the whole thing, but after I was more like ‘aw sad’, than the genuine betrayal a revelation like this SHOULD HAVE HAD. I mean yeah the characters care, but we barely knew Aoyama before this! Why should the audience? Iida, Bakugo, and Todoroki are out, and Tsuyu overall makes less sense than Ochako. She's close enough that it would devastate Midoriya, especially if it was revealed she became his friend in the first place to get close to All Might's heir - which I don't think it will or should be but you catch my drift - and, more importantly, the audience cares enough about her that there would be a lot of reactions to her being a turncoat, even if only about how the others are feeling about it. She's close friends with Iida and Tsuyu, is pretty close to Todoroki, and is friendly enough with the rest of the class that it would be devastating for all of them.
5) Parallels. Uraraka has two main parallels as of now; with Bakugo, and with Toga. With Bakugo, I think is very interesting. Bakugo is, technically, Midoriya's first friend. Uraraka is Midoriya's first genuine friend. Those are already starting out. Then we have the sports festival; Bakugo, who acts like a villain, who is arrogant and wants to be a hero for himself, who gets the chance to join the LoV and spits in their faces. See where I'm going with this? Uraraka, who's sweet-faced and 'fragile' to most, who wants to help her family, who gets the chance to join the LoV... and takes it. They're both closely tied to Midoriya, but in typically opposite shounen roles as the love interest (support, falls behind typically, to be protected) and rival (grows alongside, combative, equal), and not to mention, traitor!Uraraka vs Bakugo where she shows her new skills and full potential?? HECK YES.  Her second parallel is with Toga, for three main reasons. 1) envy. Toga's monologues about how, when you like someone, you 'just want to become them', and how it ties into her quirk make sense for her, but also parallel Uraraka. She's had multiple instances where she's shown admiring or being jealous of Midoriya, for his strength or motivation or whatever. Toga mocking her with that monologue in the woods and her reaction to it also shows an interesting side to this. While she could actually have a crush on him, I also think she's envious of him, especially given how often she says she wants to be like him (and the noticeable lack of that statement as of late). Another side to that parallel is 2) battle lust. Toga is insane, enjoys battle, and blood, to an almost psychopathic degree, and while this is far from true of Uraraka, things like her fight against Bakugo show a different, much more battle hungry side to her that's almost reminiscent of Toga in a way or, at least, could be taken to be a more villainous side to her. And 3), which I will elaborate on in -
6) Masking and imitation. I've mentioned above on Uraraka's envy of and desire to be like Midoriya, and another part to this is her name. The kanji 'Ura', in japanese, is in a number of names; all of which relate in some part to traitors, falsehoods, or something of the like. Search it up if you don't believe me. Horikoshi has also said of Uraraka that she's 'unexpectedly brazen and frank', and that it is indicative that there's 'no hidden side to her, if you catch my drift', and while this may come across as against this theory, it, in fact, isn't. Uraraka's usual frankness and how it's being used recently, as well as how it ties into my next point, are in fact, even more signs that she's the traitor. Uraraka constantly tries, consciously or unconsciously, to imitate those around her, be that Midoriya or Gunhead; the only time she was not was in her fight with Bakugo, wherein she was, again, very different. And yeah, he probably wasn’t actually hinting at anything (as we know now), but this was written before the traitor revelation, and also could have been great evidence.
7) Her behavior. Tying into the above point, Uraraka's usual frankness can be sharply juxtaposed against her past demeanor in both the manga and the anime, wherein her usual cheerfulness and optimism often seem almost fake; especially if you look at how Horikoshi often draws her, when she looks as if she's forcing herself to be happy, or, in one sketch, where she looks almost scary when she's smiling. I can link it if you want. Her behavior during the Bakugo rescue arc also shows this; she's usually very empathetic and impulsive, yet she not only said something of Bakugo she would know is false, but didn't want to go with them to rescue him, was openly against everyone else going, and didn't apologize after, unlike Tsuyu, and unlike her. She only really said 'oh, Tsuyu, honey' and then gave, again, a fake-feeling hero speech, which seems to be a theme with her. Sure, we could attribute that to a grudge against Bakugo, but to that degree? It doesn't fit with her character. Horikoshi had a great setup for her to be hiding something as big as this! She’s sort of back to normal now, I guess, but there was that whole period where she just seemed really off in the manga.
8) Her narrative role. Again, this could be shounen sexism, but despite being the main heroine, Uraraka had been almost absent ever since the sports festival fight until recently. She had her moments, but they were small and even pale in comparison to Yaoyarozu, a female side character's, arc in Yaoyarozu: Rising. Tying into that, she's the only MC who hasn't had her name and only her name as a manga chapter, again, something Yaoyarozu has. Her lack of relevance or arc is a huge issue, and not only would her being the traitor give Horikoshi the chance to make her matter again and restart her long overdue arc, but it would put her previous lack of spotlight into perspective as well as elaborate on the parallels with Bakugo and Toga she has. Sure, she’s getting more spotlight now and I do like her recent attitude, but there was an opportunity to give her a super interesting arc and use this absence as a part of that. It would make sense she’s the traitor and she wanted to lay low, so it could’ve let Horokoshi excuse basically forgetting her for a while. Plus, can you imagine how fascinating exploring traitor!Uraraka would be?
9) It would give other characters, like Tsuyu, who don't have as much, more of a role and give the chance to develop more side and main characters. Which this series needs.
10) Her being the traitor was a popular enough theory many people would be satisfied. Idk about yall but Aoyama being the traitor does NOT satisfy me at all.
11) One of the main themes in MHA is how imitation often leads to pain, where emulation, such as Kirishima with Crimson Riot and Midoriya and Bakugo with All Might, leads to teaching and growing, Ochako has never been shown, unlike literally every other character in the series, to have learned this lesson, continually rushing in blindly unlike herself and like Midoriya and having to be saved by others (ex: Momo), further setting her apart from the rest of the cast. And... this was never really resolved? Like as far as I can tell her arc in canon isn’t... really addressing this? It could have been so interesting! In fact, this leads into:
12) All of the villains also have the same negative views on emulation, such as Toga believing her quirk and 'becoming' another person and killing them is the ultimate expression of love, and Twice and his clones and the whole saga of how he's never sure if he's the real Twice or just another perfect, indistinguishable copy. Again, imitation vs emulation. Similarly we have Spinner, who imitates Stain out of admiration, Toga again who does the same thing, Dabi, who has a sort of a negative imitation of his father, where he, too, becomes so focused in a goal he's abandoned his family and humanity, even if the goal is to kill heroes instead of being the top one (and ofc, there’s how him vying for his father’s attention mirror’s Endeavour’s desire to be Number One). Putting this into perspective, Ochako has more in common with the villains of the series than she does the other heroes.
Conclusion: Ochako Uraraka should have been the traitor and I will die mad about it.

Do we already have any clues how Shoujis face looks like in canon or is this still a complete mystery?
While his exact face isn’t officially revealed yet, we were indeed given hints!
Tumblr media
This was revealed in the “My Hero Academia: Ultra Analysis” book. It stated, “In his hometown, there is still prejudice against strange-looking people, and people were often frightened of him. He started wearing a mask because once, his face made a young girl cry.” (retrieved from: https://oriigami.tumblr.com/post/188677656513/ultra-analysis-mezou-shouji)
Now keeping this information in mind, we could connect the dots with this panel from chapter 205:
Tumblr media
..and this old concept art sketched by Horikoshi.
Tumblr media
This is Shouji’s possible face. This may be it or it may not be it. We don’t know for sure yet, since this just an early “concept art”. But there’s no harm done in guessing, is there..? Though it’s possible that the current design of his face doesn’t abide by looks of the original sketch, it may still keep the essence of it, the core purpose of the way it’s designed to be: to appear fearsome. And we could perhaps expect the typical anime tropes of a “scary mouth” to be within Shouji’s facial features, which most common ones being:
Jagged mouth
Sharp teeth
“Lipless” (gums & teeth exposed)
Elongated/stretched mouth
Deep scars
Rows of teeth
Red gums
...etc. Wellll, no reason to deny that these are mere assumptions.. But it’s safe to say that Horikishi planned Shouji’s face to look like something MHA society labels as scary, something frightening enough to evoke fear on others to the point where the kid ended up getting used to the stigmatization, hence wearing his signature mask as a way to conceal his fearful side away from those that may negatively be affected by it.
f.y.i. So some ppl state that Shouji doesn’t have a mouth, but that is very unlikely.. He’s seen speaking with his main mouth during the Training Camp arc, based on how the arrow of the speech bubble is pointing toward Shouji’s face (a typical way of indicating the source of spoken speech in comics),
Tumblr media
and also...
Tumblr media
...the volume 8 character page says otherwise.. (in case anyone reading this wonders if Shouji has a mouth, the answer is yes, he does. Do not listen to those who say that he doesn’t, cuz it’s NOT TRUE)
Okieee, this is it, Anon! Thank you so much for the question; I’ve really enjoyed answering it!^^ This is all I know and can share on how Shouji looks beneath his mask. Rather unfortunate, how we still aren’t given much info about the boy in general ㅠ-ㅠ But all these concepts and info in association to his veiled face proves that Horikoshi has already got a plan and is gonna reveal it in the future. Till then, I guess we gotta bear being left in the dark about this..? (>ㅍ<);;

Dirty Laundry ( the Secret Life of Shouta Aizawa )
Dirty Laundry ( The secret life of Shouta Aizawa ) by gaysontodds
"....... Aizawa sensei?" Momo's voice rang out, she sounded very startled for some reason. Turning around to head to his computer, he quickly understood why. All the color drained from his face as he stared wide-eyed at the camera.
He was so fucked.
He wasted no time shutting the entire meet down, he jumped straight into bed. Nezu and the rest of the staff can kiss his ass if they think he was going to show his face after that. He'd rather spend an entire day with the league of villains and salsa dance to ectoplasm's singing before doing so.
( Au: Aizawa has a wardrobe malfunction during a virtual meet that leads his students to believe that he's a sugar baby. Hitoshi does nothing to stop it and just fuels the fire. )

BnHA Chapter 279: Here Comes the Airplane
Previously on BnHA: Gigantomachia gathered up the rest of the League and headed off to go help Tomura. Also he is now 80 feet tall. The heroes were all, “whoa this guy is really big, we should probably stop him and maybe even devote an entire chapter or two just to that,” and so they sent three whole people after him, which sadly is pretty much the exact sort of strategy I’ve come to expect from them by this point. Anyway so Mt. Lady tried to hold Machia off but kept getting flung aside, and Kamui Woods tried to catch him but was set on fire by Dabi who is just having way too good of a time setting all of the flammable heroes on fire today, and Midnight tried to put him to sleep but Compress threw a bunch of debris at her and so she fell like 80 feet. The chapter ended with Midnight being all “fuck this” and calling Momo, who ordered the rest of the child soldier squad into action as Machia approached. I’m not really sure what they’re gonna do, but I honestly don’t really care, because it’s Momo, and so, YES.
Today on BnHA: U.A.’s first-year hero students, who apparently had nine hours to prepare their battleground instead of the fifteen seconds we had all assumed, launch a complex multi-staged assault which is actually really fucking impressive because these kids are actually awesome. First they pin Machia down in one of Honenuki’s mud pits, and then they take turns making impassioned attempts to take out the other League members chilling out on Machia’s back. Unfortunately none of these attempts work because of Dabi, who’s working overtime while the rest of the League sits around shooting down each other’s escape plans. Basically a lot of stuff gets set on fire, and then the chapter ends with Mt. Lady pinning Machia to the ground while MINA, YES, MINA, charges at him covered in acid like some sort of video game boss that you need some kind of specific item to defeat. DID YOU KNOW YESTERDAY WAS MINA’S BIRTHDAY YOU GUYS. Anyway so this chapter is basically pandemonium from start to finish, and it’s great. It is a RUMPUS, y'all. A STRAIGHT UP HULLABALOO.
IS IT MOMO LOVIN’ HOURS I THINK IT IS, YOU GUYS. ARE YOU EXCITED. I AM EXCITED
but first, the color page we were promised, in celebration of Six Whole Years Of This Bullshit!!
Tumblr media
oh god oh god so much to love so little time
some of the rowdier characters are making MULTIPLE APPEARANCES IN THIS SHITSHOW, including Kaminari who appears to be in a record-setting THREE of these! who exactly was taking all of these pictures, and why are they so obsessed with him. also how many of these are going to be used as evidence in the latest Kami Traitor Theory posts and is it too early for me to get mad about it
“WE INVITED ENDEAVOR AND HAWKS TO OUR ‘BEING FANCY ON THE COLOR PAGE’ PARTY, EVEN THOUGH THEY’RE NOT U.A. STUDENTS OR FACULTY. WE JUST FELT LIKE IT.” listen that is fine, y’all don’t have to explain yourselves to me
Mirko however is not here, I assume because if she was, Horikoshi would have forgotten to draw all the rest of the characters again. she’s too powerful
Midnight is so sexy I don’t even ksdfnkl
ALL MIGHT LOOKING HAPPY GIVES ME THE STRENGTH I NEED TO MAKE IT THROUGH THE REST OF THIS WEEK. YOUR SMILE IS THE MVP
Cementoss’s face is the runner-up MVP and one of the greatest things I’ve seen in my life
half the people here seem to be attempting to flirt with whoever is taking the pictures. I am starting to suspect that the culprit is Momo. change my mind
for some reason I am really shocked to see Endeavor getting his drink on. and he’s literally the only one, too
Bakugou’s half-assed I SAID NO PAPARAZZI skills are no match for Tamaki’s legendary “I WILL LITERALLY DIE IF YOU CAPTURE ME ON FILM” abilities
I literally didn’t notice Deku until like three quarters of the page in. he sure does blend right in there
Tokoyami is approximately 97.3% done and ticking EVER CLOSER to full 100% doneness, and when that happens even I can’t tell you what is going to go down
do I even need to mention how sexy Aizawa’s hair is. apparently I do
SERIOUSLY THOUGH CEMENTOSS’S FACE
anyway, so that was nice! NOW ON TO THE MOMOLOVIN’
and we begin with FIRST YEAR CLASS B HONENUKI “MUDMAN” JUZOU just LAYIN’ SOME TRAPS IN THE WOODS, as one does
oh my freaking god Tokage
Tumblr media
somehow her quirk didn’t freak me out quite this much the last time we saw her. she is really something. has she always had shark teeth
also WHERE IS MONOMA’S GROUP. I immediately want to know!! is he with the Shouto group? or is there yet ANOTHER student group we don’t know about? what would they even be doing
or did Horikoshi actually get three quarters of the way through writing this arc and then suddenly slap his forehead as he realized that if Monoma just casually copied Machia’s powers he would either DIE IMMEDIATELY or else become SUPER STRONG and also grow 80 feet tall and this would suddenly be a very different battle with the scales tipping decidedly in the heroes’ favor. and so he had to quickly write him out of the battle in this very half-assed way
anyway, so while I ponder that, Tokage is peeking the top of her head out over the trees and staring at Machia who is, you guessed it, still heading right their way! just like he’s been doing pretty much this entire time
and now there’s a whole page of reaction panels you guys. this is why Horikoshi tries to avoid these massive Endgame-style battles with every single hero known to man participating. hopefully we won’t have too many of these. like I mean thank you for the roll call and all but I’d like to get to the action now
Tumblr media
Mineta of all people is stealing this entire page with that expression though. he is not fucking around. this is twice in as many chapters that he’s been a page-stealing face-making champ. dare I hope this could be the start of a new niche for him? lord knows it would be so much better than the old niche
also this page is just sweatdrops galore. these kids are so nervous. MANGA GODS PLEASE KEEP THEM SAFE, although I’m honestly not too worried about them compared to the adults. I’m sure I should be, but I just am not
all right so now Momo is explaining what those little canisters are!
Tumblr media
okay but someone please explain to me how it is that they had time to stop and lay all of these traps?? not just Honenuki’s, but Mineta’s and what looks like some of Shiozaki’s work as well?? did Machia just STOP MOVING for like five whole minutes all of a sudden for no reason at all? while they were all sitting out here saying things like “with that speed...”? ????? ????????
also lol wtf. “we’re gonna have to make him eat it.” I still have no idea what their plan is, but it’s getting more entertaining by the minute I’ll say that much
okay so Momo says that if they can get him to swallow just one of these, then that should be enough to put him to sleep. oh my god this chapter is going to be AMAZING isn’t it
meanwhile Mineta is worrying about Midnight. I swear to god if they turn this into something where he’s only worried because she’s hot, I will take one of these canisters and shove it right up his...
okay good, Mina’s reassuring him that it’s gonna be okay, and then we’re just cutting to Machia stampeding in with Mt. Lady and Kamui still clinging to him
WHAT THE HELL ARE THESE GUYS EVEN DOING
Tumblr media
“we’ll just stand here adjacent to him and just kind of watch as he rushes straight at the children.” someone help me, I’m having difficulty finding a synonym for “useless” that carries the full amount of emphasis I want to place on it right now. this requires a degree of language the human race is not yet capable of
OH SNAP
Tumblr media
THEY GOT HIM YEAHHHHH
OH DANG, FOR REAL THOUGH!!
Tumblr media
ngl, for a brief spiteful moment I was disappointed he hadn’t actually fallen on them :/
and they’re still JUST STANDING THERE, I CAN'T EVEN?? we’re getting to the point where I honestly think actual civilians might have been of more use in this situation
YESSSSS
Tumblr media
TIME TO FIND OUT HOW MANY TENTH GRADERS GIGANTOMACHIA CAN TAKE IN A FIGHT
also, sorry to keep harping on this, but the juxtaposition of that earlier panel with all of the fully grown and experienced pros just standing in dumb awe, immediately followed by this panel of BRAVE BUT DETERMINED CHILDREN CHARGING IN AND YELLING “GO GO GO”, is just... it really is something. shit. if I was the HPSC and this was what I had to work with, I too might have seriously considered fudging a few age requirements in hopes of finding someone who could actually get the fucking job done
also what the hell is going on down there with Shishida and Satou and that third person? what are those Blackwhip-looking things?? I’m confused
ohhhhh no
Tumblr media
Shiozaki is about to be sent flying through the air courtesy of her own hair vines omg
OH NO WAIT THE THREE TOUGH GUYS ARE STOPPING HIM. AHHH THE LAST ONE WAS KENDOU AHHHH
Tumblr media
I still can’t figure out what the hell those are though lol. did Momo make some steel cables?? I feel like Machia would be able to break just about any kind of rope or chain they could concoct just by sheer brute strength alone
ah fuck
Tumblr media
DON’T YOU GUYS GO RUINING THIS FOR ME!! THEY’VE GOT A GOOD THING GOING HERE, LET THEM HAVE THEIR FUN!!
although I do appreciate how they’re all “U.A.!!” in kind of this “oh shit, these guys we actually have to worry about” sort of tone lol
this look on Toga’s face is a bit concerning! well but Deku and Ochako aren’t here though, so I wonder who she’s gonna fight if it comes to that. huh
(ETA: seriously, does anyone have any idea what Toga is planning cuz I sure don’t.)
Shouji and Ojiro, who I might remind you are normal people with no enhanced physical abilities aside from extra appendages, appear to have somehow circled all the way around to Machia’s back and are now climbing up oh shit
oh and Aoyama’s there too! -- is Shouji carrying him omg
Tumblr media
he’s using him as a human ray gun omggg. this is the most delightful thing I’ve ever witnessed
NOW SOMETHING IS BEING SHOT AT THE LEAGUE AND DABI’S STARING AT IT ALL “>:(” AND I’M PRETTY SURE THIS THING, WHATEVER IT IS, IS ABOUT TO BE SET ON FIRE, LET’S SEE
lds;afksjdl;fkj WERE THOSE JIROU’S EARJACKS??!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
okay you know what fuck you Dabi. you think it’s funny to set a little girl’s ears on fire?! don’t expect any sympathy from me when Aoyama lasers you in the face
WELL I DON’T KNOW WHAT’S HAPPENING BUT THEY’RE SHOOTING WHAT LOOK LIKE A BUNCH OF LITTLE TAMBOURINES AT HIM NOW
Tumblr media
I ASSUME THEY ARE NOT ACTUALLY TAMBOURINES, BUT I REALLY DON’T KNOW, IT’S NOT LIKE THEY HANDED OUT THE RULE BOOK TO THIS THING AHEAD OF TIME
[HUGE EXAGGERATED GASPING SOUNDS]
Tumblr media
oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my
OH MY GOD AND YANAGI THREW THEM WITH HER POLTERGEIST QUIRK!??
Tumblr media
I DON’T KNOW WHAT THIS “ACK?!!” IS AND IT’S REALLY BUMMING ME OUT, BECAUSE THIS CAME WITHIN INCHES OF BEING THE COOLEST FUCKING COMBINATION I’VE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!?!?
(ETA: it would have laid them all flat in seconds. Kaminari is to be feared you guys.)
NO!!!!!
Tumblr media
it is sincerely frustrating to me watching the League carelessly toss aside all of their painstakingly accumulated goodwill from the MVA arc in the span of just a few short pages. hey Compress, you think it’s cool to hurl a bunch of rocks at my six-and-a-half-year-old son?? I hope someone rips that cool robot arm off and uses it to punch you in the dick
here comes Sero!! and how are you going to die, Sero
Tumblr media
what in the
Tumblr media
did he just... sneeze them all into space
Tumblr media
okay but hear me out, what if Shouda absorbed that impact. SHOUDA YOUR TIME HAS FINALLY COME. CLASS 1-B’S ASCENT TO GLORY
(ETA: watch this space!! Shouda is here for a reason mark my words.)
meanwhile on Machia’s back, Dabi is soliloquying about Machia’s quirk while his arm is doing... something
Tumblr media
please forgive me for not being able to drum up any sympathy for poor Dabi’s arms right about now. quit trying to set all my kids on fire
wait whaaaaat lol
Tumblr media
so I scrolled back up to the previous page, and... that was fire?? lord help me why am I still so terrible at being able to tell when Horikoshi is drawing fire as opposed to just air randomly whooshing through trees. I have really got to memorize that foossh sound effect
so can Gigantomachia just BREATHE FIRE now?? or was ALL OF THAT Dabi??? if it was the latter then at least he had the decency to wait until all of the kids got blown out of range before setting the whole forest aflame to keep them back. I’ll admit it, that was thoughtful of him as far as villain power moves go
OHO BUT YOU CAN’T COUNT MOMO OUT JUST LIKE THAT!!
Tumblr media
AND NOW EVERYTHING AROUND THEM IS EXPLODING AHHHHHH DID YOU GUYS SET LANDMINES, BAKUGOU WOULD BE SO PROUD
Tumblr media
once again I have to ask myself exactly how much prep time they had here. Horikoshi would have you think it was mere seconds, but that clearly cannot be the case?? maybe they set some of these up beforehand to catch any stray villains trying to flee the area?
lmao Spinner’s all “wait why doesn’t he just dig his way out”, because apparently Machia can tunnel himself under the ground. but Compress is all “um because we would die” and Spinner is all “oh right”
though I gotta say, it’s not like they’re that much better off as things are now, either. pinned down in the woods surrounded by fire and explosives. definitely a conundrum
oh snap Compress has realized that their presence is holding Machia back. don’t tell me Machia is gonna head off on his own and leave the rest of the League to square off with the kids
YOOOOOO HOLY SHIT THE HEROES ACTUALLY DID SOMETHING
Tumblr media
there you go, League! free cannon fodder to get you all pumped and confident again!
DKFJLSDKJ
Tumblr media
PLEASE LET THIS BE THE ACTUAL TRANSLATION OH MY GOD. THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE LINE IN ANYTHING AHHHH
“I’m leaving it to you, U.A.’s youngsters!” yeah, you and everyone else. ah well, can’t deny they get the job done
OH MMKJKYYYY GODDDDDDJJK
Tumblr media
MINA COATED HERSELF IN ACID AND IS RUNNING AT GIGANTOMACHIA AND IS SHE ALSO ON FIRE??!?! SHE’S JUST RUNNING AT HIM LIKE A BIG OL’ FIERY BLOB???! QUEEN MINA???!! FIRE IS NOT HER WEAKNESS???! MINA??!! IS AIRPLANE?!??!!?!? MINAAAAAAA
holy fucking shit this whole arc is just one big Arc Of Ladies Getting To Do Stuff and I am 1000% living for it. THIS ARC IS MY FAMILY. I WOULD DIE FOR IT AND LEAVE EVERYTHING TO IT IN MY WILL. ahhhhhhhhhh

Toga killing hawks doesn’t make sense like whatever you feel about hawks there is a sense of hypocrisy on both side Between the hero and villains and that the point toga openly kill people but was heartbroken by twice death but I guess it normal reaction on the real world we tend to care about death when it someone one know
Yes, but I also think specifically it’s more people still thinking there is gonna be a revenge plot where she defects from the group, goes rogue, and goes to attack him on her own.
Back when chapter 341 came out and that was the running popular theory, I could see it. We didn’t have much to go off of so I just went with it, but I really didn’t like it. I was gonna accept it if that’s what happened, but the whole “Dabi and Toda team up and go after Hawks” thing just felt so unrealistic and out of character for both of them. I wasn’t comfortable saying that until the final battle actually started and I felt that it was no longer within the realm of likely possibilities. No matter how fun it could be for something like that to happen in a story—-imo it didn’t fit here. Again, I was convinced at first but was glad when it no longer seemed like it was gonna happen.
Again—of course it could still happen, but….where would that fit? Toga is already with Ochacko and Tsuyu. Touya and Shouto’s fight already happened. Yes there is definitely more of them we will see but I feel like it’s obvious we are in the wrapping things up stage of things. This would be a huuuuuuge set back on Toga’s development and also kinda provide nothing to the plot, because at the end of the day her killing or even going after Hawks does nothing good for either side. Also side note…..her and Hawks haven’t thought about each other specifically even once. Like even after Twice’s death, she still hasn’t thought of Hawks. Not once. There are some very subtle relationships in BNHA that go untouched until the last moment (Shouji and Spinner for example, there is nothing personal between the two except circumstance) and I can’t deny that of course it’s possible for this all to happen, but you’d think if Toga was stuck on revenge she’d maybe spare a thought or two toward the actual killer before going after him??
Toga WILL face Hawks somehow because of the simple fact that she has Twice’s blood. But given Hawks lack of pretty much everything as a character compared to Toga’s pretty consistent development—I think it’ll look different than a going rogue and seeking revenge plot. I went into more detail in why I don’t see Toga’s arc going that way here.
But yeah, I just don’t like that and personally hope it steers clear if that direction.

Long Night in the Valley, Chapter 6
Plans were made.
And discarded.
Different plans were made.
These were also discarded.
The problem (besides the fact that their best planners (except Yaoyorozu) were out of commission) was that no one knew what needed to be done. If anything.  Yes, Midoriya had run out of the testing center.  Yes, the whole situation where Midoriya was initially placed in a group apart from all the rest of them was shady.  Yes, the fact that Aizawa and the other half of class was still missing was distressing.
But they didn’t know what was actually happening.  They didn’t know if the others needed help, or what help they would need.  They didn’t know why Midoriya was running, chased by heroes of all things. Jirou had wondered out loud if Midoriya had been mind-controlled by a villain with a quirk like Shinsou’s.  In response, Kaminari had a (brief) breakdown agonizing about whether he had inadvertently helped a villain kidnap his friend.
What a mad banquet of darkness.
Luckily, they were training for… well, not situations like these, to be honest, but situations.  Just. In general.  Dark, mysterious situations, where one wrong step could send a person plummeting into an abyss of misery.
Anyway.
When in such a vexing a perilous situation, the thing to do, as Momo had pointed out, was gather information.
Was Jirou plugged into the wall?  Yes.  Did Shouji manifest enough ears and eyes to make even Fumikage slightly disturbed? Yes.  Did Yaoyorozu make tiny listening devices that fit on the mice and insects that Kouda had called?  Yes.  Did Kaminari spontaneously manifest hacking skills that no one knew about and then deny that they were hacking skills?  Yes.  Had Dark Shadow pressed herself flat to sneak under doors and temporary room partitions?
Also, yes.
He tugged on Dark Shadow with his mind, directing her to return.
“Find anything new?” he asked.  Tsuyu, his current partner in not-crime-quite-yet and lookout, leaned closer as well, interested.
“The lady whose quirk they were using passed out,” reported Dark Shadow.  “Everyone she used it on is still asleep.”
“Nothing about Midori?” asked Tsuyu.
Dark Shadow’s facial expressions were often limited, but, this time, her scowl was clear.  “Stupid stuff.”
“Like?”
Dark Shadow huffed, and Fumikage felt her annoyance. “Like he’s a villain or a spy. Stupid.”
Tsuyu closed her eyes and swallowed with obvious distaste.
“Do you think that’s why he ran?  It seems unlike him.”
“Huh?” said Dark Shadow.  “Midori didn’t run.”
“What are you talking about, Dark Shadow?” asked Fumikage. “Speak clearly.”
Dark Shadow elbowed him.  “Midori’s friends ran!”
“You mean Ochako, Todoroki, and Iida?” asked Tsuyu.
“No, they’re still asleep.  His friends.  Like you and me are friends, Fumi!”
“You mean his quirk?”
“Uhhuh,” said Dark Shadow, bobbing.  “They’re like us.  Isn’t it obvious?”
“Not really,” said Tsuyu.
Fumikage leaned and against the wall and slid down to put his head in his hands.  “What a mad banquet of darkness, indeed.  It is as if we journey at night, through a verdant and shadowy valley—”
“Come on, we have to tell the others,” said Tsuyu, nudging him.
.
“What happened?” asked Hitoshi, softly, not quite believing what he’d heard.  He rubbed his fingers over the folds of his artificial vocal cords, stored in the top pocket of his backpack.  Legally speaking, he wasn’t supposed to have it, or any hero support gear, outside the school he wasn’t licensed, even provisionally.    But Hizashi had insisted, and Kayama-sensei didn’t object, so…
“According to the Hero Commission,” said Hizashi, voice tighter than his hands around the wheel, “Shouta and some of the 1-A students were targeted by a villain at the testing center.”
“What?  What villain? Shigaraki?”  That was the one that had been targeting 1-A again and again and again.  The one that had hurt him so badly at the USJ.
“No,” said Hizashi.  “They said it was Midoriya.”
Hitoshi blinked, his brain first trying to find a villain that matched the name before shoving his fellow student’s face into his mind’s eye. “You mean, he’s the one that wound up fighting the villain.  How many bones did he break this time?  Or did he get a new quirk?”
“No,” said Kayama-sensei.  “They’re really saying that Midoriya is a villain.”
“That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard,” stated Hitoshi. “They think the second coming of All Might sunshine child is a villain?  If he got locked in Tartarus, half the population would, I don’t know, start confessing their sins and become model citizens before the day was out.  If his quirk wasn’t bone-breaking nonsense, I’d say it was the power of friendship.”  He stopped, considered that last sentence.  “Wait, this is about his quirk, isn’t it?”
“We don’t know,” said Hizashi.
“They’re saying he kidnapped All Might.”
Hitoshi wondered if this was what people felt like when he used his quirk on them, because his brain had just bluescreened and was struggling to restart.
“They’re what?” screeched Hizashi.  It was a good thing he was the one driving the car.  Hitoshi winced and covered his ears.
“Didn’t All Might steal Vlad-sensei’s car?” asked Hitoshi, feeling dazed.  “How do you get from that, to Midoriya kidnapping him from across town.”
“I don’t know,” said Kayama, “but it’s all over Heronet and the commission is starting to release it to news networks.”
“That has to be the- the stupidest thing I ever heard! I’d put more money on Yagi kidnapping Midoriya,” said Hizashi, loudly and angrily.
“What the rat god said before we left makes much more sense now,” said Kayama, mournfully.
Hitoshi blanched at her reference to the principal.  But then curiosity got the better of him.  “What did he say?”
“That to keep custody of all our staff and students, we were going to have to be creative.”
.
Hizashi had expected many things upon arriving at the testing center.  Being refused access to the unconscious teacher and students was one of them. Obstructive bureaucracy was one of them. People telling him something was illegal or forbidden by protocol when he knew it wasn’t was one of them.  Chaos was one of them.  Confusion was one of them.  Lack of organization was one of them.
In these things, he was not disappointed.
What he didn’t expect, however, was for the remaining half of Shouta’s class to not only be one hundred percent down with kinda-sorta kidnapping, but to have already laid a lot of the groundwork for it already.
Maybe he should have.  But he didn’t.  How was it that Shouta, aka Mr. Expulsion, aka Mr. ‘you have no potential,’ had kept all the students from a class that had no scruples against committing things that most people would consider crimes?  A class that, having been given time to bond, would probably collectively turn to villainy rather than betray one of their number?
He paused and considered his long relationship with Shouta. Mentally squinted.  Never mind.  He could see it now.
Well.  It wasn’t as if Hizashi wasn’t like that, too.  He’d never really considered expelling any of them.  Except Mineta.  Grape Juice was on thin ice.
“We most likely would have acted already,” Yaoyorozu said as the rest of the class distracted the commission officials who were supposedly supervising the pickup of the children, “but we didn’t know what we’d do after. No escape plan.”
Reasonable.  The bus driver (Green Light, the Transit Hero) had gone back to the school after dropping them off and had to turn around once he heard the news.
But, now, Recovery Girl was coming around with a fleet of ambulances from the hero hospital UA contracted with.  A hospital that was, incidentally, not the same as the one the Hero Commission wanted to bring all the people still affected by Saito’s quirk.
Ambulances had room for riders.  It was unorthodox, but it would work.
“Well, you have one now,” said Hizashi, quietly.  No one expected him to be quiet.  It made him almost invisible when he was.
“I know you already have a plan,” interjected Hitoshi. “But is there anything I can do?”
Momo blinked.  “Actually, yes.  We could get them out anyway, but it would help a lot if we had the keys.”
.
The search for Uraraka hadn’t been going well before the city started to fall apart around them.  In fact, it had been going incredibly poorly, because various versions of All Might kept popping up to try and punch Suzuki’s face off.  Literally.  At least two of the All Mights had declared that as their intention prior to attacking.
Tenya wasn’t sure if he should be concerned about his friend’s mental state or baffled about his incredibly violent mental view of All Might.
Perhaps the eyeless villain in Kamino had left a strong impression on him?  But All Might couldn’t have been responsible for the villain’s injuries! It was All Might.  He hardly ever injured villains he took down.
On the other hand, the villain at Kamino had been terrifyingly strong.  If there were to be an exception to the rule, he was certainly it.
But the real reason, in Tenya’s opinion, the search had been going poorly was Suzuki.  The man would not stop talking.  His theories were even worse than Todoroki’s!
“That All Might is fake,” he was saying.  “He isn’t even using his quirk, just like Midoriya.”
“I think we all know that the All Might that exists in Midoriya’s mind is not, in fact, the real All Might,” said Aizawa.
“This destruction is just another ploy, another distraction—”
“We get it,” said Aizawa.  “But it isn’t centered around us, so, logically, it must be centered around Uraraka.”
Suzuki scoffed.  “We should be looking for what Midoriya is trying to hide.”
“The only reason we aren’t beating you up right now,” said Aizawa, “is that we are looking for Uraraka.  So, shut up.”
“What about me?”
Tenya whipped around to see Uraraka stooped over behind them, breathing heavily, hands on her knees.  “Sorry,” she said, “I ran all the way here.”
Aizawa hurried over to her.  Tenya noted that he never quite turned his back to Suzuki.
“What happened?” he asked.  “Where were you?”
“D- Izuku wanted to talk to me,” she said.  “He said something dangerous was about to happen, but if we went farther in, we could maybe get out?”
Under normal circumstances, the overly vague report would have been cause for scolding, but Tenya could see how her eyes flicked to Suzuki. There were details she didn’t want him to hear.
“Did he say how to go further in?” asked Aizawa.
“No.  That happened and he ran off.”  She gestured towards another building that was slowly collapsing.
“Wait a moment,” said Suzuki.  “If you’re here, what’s there?”
“Uh,” said Uraraka.
“He told you, didn’t he?  What did he say?”
“Excuse me!” said Tenya.  “You are being very rude right now!  Uraraka has just come back from a harrowing experience!”
Tenya was not very good at lying, but this wasn’t really a lie, per-se.
The distinction didn’t seem to matter to Suzuki, who gave him a brief, incredulous look before turning back to the gathering storm.  “He doesn’t want us to see this.”
“Don’t you dare,” said Aizawa, eyes narrowing.
Suzuki didn’t listen.
Tenya caught up to him without any trouble and punched him in the back of the head.  “Ow,” said Tenya, who had forgotten he wasn’t wearing his hero costume.
“Did you break your fingers?” asked Aizawa as he dragged Suzuki back by the foot.
“I’m going to have you all arrested and stripped of you licenses, unless—”
“Because we didn’t help you with an illegal interrogation? No, you’re not,” said Aizawa.
“Nana!”
The voice bounced off the buildings and was swept away by the wind.
“Nana!  Master, where are you?”
It was the voice of the younger, vigilante All Might.
“Is he calling the name or the number?” asked Uraraka.
“Master!  Please! Answer me!”
With a shuddering heave, the building right next to them tipped over, falling into rubble before it even hit the ground.  The storm wind, heavy with rain and lightning, whipped down the street with all the force of a hurricane.  Tenya had to brace himself and cover his eyes.
When he could see again, it was to discover Suzuki had run off again.  Towards the fallen building.
Tenya was honestly torn between letting him get beaten up by whatever had flattened the building, whether it be Midoriya’s subconscious, the illusory All Might, or something worse.  Although, arguably, all those were the same the same thing.
But Tenya was training to be a hero.  Heroes couldn’t pick and choose who to save.  He, and everyone else took off after Suzuki.
They all stopped, though, when a boy in a torn UA uniform clambered over the rubble.  The boy cupped his hands around his mouth.  “Nana!”
That hair was recognizable from a mile away, not to mention the height.  All Might. Yet a different version.  Tenya had known UA was All Might’s alma mater, but seeing him in a uniform like this, seeing him vulnerable, not in the way of a man at the end of his career, but as someone just starting out, someone like them, was oddly humbling and completely terrifying.
What pushed him to this?  What put that distraught tone in his voice?  What put that bloody slash in his uniform and bruised his face?
Tenya had a sinking suspicion he knew what.  He didn’t even want to come into contact with the memory of that monster from Kamino.
All Might was scanning the ground, looking for- Looking for something.  Someone?
His eyes fell on them, and even from this distance, Tenya could see them widen.  All Might began to scramble down the hill.
“You,” he shouted, as he came closer.  “You—Underclassmen.  Have you seen-?”  He gasped for air.
Even Suzuki, from what he could see, looked taken aback.
“Have you seen a woman about—” He hesitated and adjusted his hand downward, to about the height of his chin.  Which was still taller than Tenya.
All Might was tall in high school.  Or, at least, Midoriya thought All Might was tall in high school.
This was confusing.
“A woman about this tall.  She’s—She has black hair, and she wears it, um, half up.”  All Might fanned his hand behind his head to illustrate. “She’s a hero.  Wears- Wears yellow gloves.”  He paused for a moment, eyes flicking from one to the next.  “You haven’t seen her.”  He whipped back around.  “Nana!”
“What even is this supposed to be?” demanded Suzuki.
“Truly,” said Todoroki, “their bond is inspiring.  For All Might to tell Midoriya even of this tragedy…”
“Todoroki!  That’s entirely inappropriate!” exclaimed Tenya, turning to face his classmate.
The wind picked up again.  The buildings began to twinkle.
Earlier, you said something about being a vigilante. What was up with that, anyway?
Midoriya’s voice sounded like it was right next to him, and yet the sound was entirely sourceless.
The colors shifted.
.
Izuku wasn’t sure if he wanted to curse the bystander culture encouraged by the hero system or bless it for its unintentional effects.  Even though Toshinori was clearly suffering, slumped against a wall and shoulders heaving, no one stopped to help him.  In fact, most people were averting their eyes, barely looking at him.
Generally speaking, Izuku decided, he’d curse it.  In this particular instance, however, it benefitted them.
He looked back and forth before dashing across the street, not caring about jaywalking at the moment.  He jogged up to Toshinori, swallowing the name before it left his lips. Right.  They were undercover, and the commission definitely knew Toshinori’s real name.
“Dad,” he said instead, and mentally felt himself collide with a wall.  Couldn’t he have picked something else?  Come up with some fake name?  Or just not used a name to begin with.  With effort, he picked himself up and his dream-self kept running.  “I got your text,” he said, instead, for the benefit of anyone listening.  He inserted himself under one of Toshinori’s arms.  “Let’s go home.”
He smiled at a couple of people who were staring and hoped they wouldn’t report this.
“I can walk, I can walk,” said Toshinori heaving himself off the wall with a shudder.  “I’m fine.”
This was a lie.  Izuku could still see the flashback playing out in his mind’s eye.  Even so, he nodded and tried to give Toshinori space, even as Toshinori put one hand on his shoulder and leaned on it heavily.
This mental invasion was wearing both of them out.  No.  All of them out.  This was not, they reminded him, at all normal.
Five gently pressed ways of dealing with flashbacks into his awareness.  Thank goodness for Five and his comparative normalcy.
“We’re okay,” he said.  “We’re just on a street in Musutafu.  You can feel me, right?  And the sidewalk under your feet.  And you can hear the traffic and smell the cars.”  He kept going.
Toshinori gave a hum of assent after each item Izuku listed, but he could tell it wasn’t enough.  He might be able to see and hear, to touch and taste, but he could do the same things to that mental battleground.
“What if,” said Izuku, desperately, “you tell me a story?”
“A story?” rasped Toshinori.
“Y-yeah.  Earlier, you said something about being a vigilante.  What was up with that, anyway?”
.
It isn’t well known, said Yagi’s voice as the world came back into focus in an entirely different city with entirely different weather and signage, but I didn’t grow up in a terribly pleasant area.
In fact, there was quite a lot of crime.
Aizawa caught sight of a familiar head of yellow hair positioned above a plain gakuran.  The younger version of Yagi was staring down an alleyway.
Suddenly, Aizawa felt himself pulled to stand right behind Yagi. A man with a mutation quirk was being mugged by two young men with fire quirks.  He blinked.  The scene didn’t change, even behind his eyelids.  He couldn’t see his students, or Suzuki.
What was this, a cutscene?
I, ah, rather disliked that.  Obviously, my thoughts about become a symbol of peace for the world were, well… Just thoughts.  But even then, for my own little corner of the world, I wanted to make a difference.
Yagi, showcasing the fact that he’d always been a bit of an idiot, pulled on a medical mask and threw his bookbag at one of the muggers and punched the other one in the face.  At least he wasn’t using his quirk to do it.  The villain would have been paste on the side of the building.
On the other hand, this was presumably some imagining of Midoriya’s, possibly based on a story he heard from All Might, if the voiceover was anything to go by.
Oh, said Midoriya, I did that a couple of times.  Stop a mugging, I mean.
I thought you said you weren’t involved in any vigilantism.
It wasn’t vigilantism!  They were just things I happened to run into, and I couldn’t just not help.
Sometimes, I wonder if your quirk really isn’t something like a villain magnet…
The scene shifted again, making Aizawa feel dizzy, even though he wasn’t moving.  Except, maybe that was why he felt dizzy.  Motion sickness.
I never knew my parents.  I grew up in a foster home.
Aizawa blinked, and the scene became clear.  A small apartment building with a tiny, tattered lawn. Someone’s shoe had been left on the sidewalk in front, and Yagi was climbing the stairs to the door.
Then, Aizawa was inside, and internally wincing at the noise level.  Screaming preteens were so far out of his comfort level you couldn’t see it with a telescope.
(The exception, of course, was Eri.)
As he watched, Yagi was shoved several times, tripped, and had a water-manipulation quirk used to drop something that Aizawa suspected was toilet water on his head.
Overall, the attitude towards people like us wasn’t quite what it was now, but to be parentless on top of that?  Many of the other children at the home thought there had to be something wrong with me.  There was a sigh.  Judging from what I’ve seen of your memories, I suspect you had the worse time of it.
I had Mom, though.
Aizawa found himself in a small bedroom.  Pinned to one of the walls was a corkboard.  Which looked distressingly like Todoroki’s.  Yagi crossed his arms as he contemplated it.
Once I had built up my confidence, one of the things I was trying to do was find out about a human trafficking ring.
Oh, yeah, those suck.
… Why do I feel like you have personal experience in the subject.
It wasn’t my fault.
Soft, fond laughter filled the room before it was whisked away and replaced with a warehouse that just screamed ‘villain hideout.’
There was a fight.
I tried my best, tried to be sneaky… I knew I wouldn’t win in a straight-out fight.  But…
Yagi was surrounded and clearly losing.  Then the doors burst open.  A figure floated, framed by the threshold, backlit by the streetlights.
First contact, whispered a voice like the wind.
Nana, said Midoriya.
Nana, agreed All Might’s voice.  She saved me.  I… Didn’t want to get caught.  I ran. Went back to the muggings.
And then?
And then—
Another change in scenery.  A sidewalk by a stream.  Yagi stood in his gakuran a few meters away from a woman in a hero costume.  The yellow gloves stood out.
And then, a week later, she found me.
The woman’s head snapped in Aizawa’s direction, and he had just enough time to realize she could see him before the scene glitched out and he was falling through an empty sky.

Which 1-a and 1-b kids would be the best at babysitting eri!
Tumblr media
1-A
Mina
Did someone say cool big sister energy at its PIQUE???
ok we gotta be real tho
Girl has no chill and we love her for it, but when it comes to babysitting??
Shes so easily influenced lmao she can and WILL spend all her money on pizza for the both of them
She ends up ATTACHED
Zero impulse control lmao so shes gonna get into trouble 9 times out of 10 but shes fun af
Tsuyu
my girl has a whole ass FAMILY at home to care for while mr asui is making that MONEY ROLL
Cuts all eri’s sandwiches into stars
They definitely braid eachother’s hair too wjdnenwjd she sjust the best
Has a curfew tho- like bedtime is 10pm at the LATEST
Ojiro
tell me to my FACE he wouldnt be the best babysitter ever.
Hes patient af, and would listen for hours to her little rants and thoughts
he helps her confidence around talking to boys cus she still got that trauma :(
Would probably let her do his makeup
Momo
Does this one even need explained lmao
Aizawa has her on SPEED DIAL even before mic akdnfnwsn
Treats eri like shes her OWN for the night
Also spoils her rotten she’ll go shopping beforehand and buy games and everything 🥺🥺🥺
Shouji
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Simply the BEST
Favourite movie ON, bakes with her, convinces her to go to sleep at a reasonable time without feeling like shes being INJUSTICED
She makes him feel less scary too 🥺 underrated duo
1-B
Kendo
Same as momo like imagine them babysitting together omgggg
Everyones lowkey jealous i want kendo and momo to give me their undivided attention smh 😳😳
A little strict but its all in good nature and eri still idolises her
Has SEVERE baby fever everytime she babysits her tho
Kodai
Shes eri’s idol no cap
everyone knows its bc shes the best at doing nails and hair
But also bc kodai talks to eri w so much RESPECT and it makes eri feel like a proper adult
Eri goes to her whenever she has a problem w stuff she cant tell aizawa abt🥺🥺
Manga
In theory, he is a HORRIBLE babysitter
In practice, he’s worse.
Will try to teach eri how to skateboard while hes hes committing GRAFITI FUKIDASHI FIRST OF ALL IS ILLEGAL SECOND OF ALL SHES 5
eri loves him so bad, which is WORSE. So chaotic
Honenuki
Cool big brother figure everyone wants
Tells her the FUNNIEST stories and wont stop til there’s tears streaming down her face w happiness
Gives him the biggest ego boost but also he loves being able to make her smile 🥺🥺 esp since shes just learning
She definitely has a super big crush on him its so cute
Shishida
Like Iida but not as fucking STRAIGHT
the best at playing princesses with her bc hes so DAMN DRAMATIC ABT EVERYTHING
calls her “lady eri” and it makes her feel like a princess. He is her royal knight and he will beat you to death if you take his title from him
Also the best bedtime stories- shes sleeping in no time awwwww
