going a bit further about dark deku arc in particular that deku's refusal to work with anyone was specifically always portrayed as a bad thing (and the resurgence of "dark deku" as momo mentioned during deku vs shigaraki a few chapters ago was foreshadowing that he would receive assistance, lol). even when kudo said that what deku was doing was right (and if i had to interpret what part of his action was "correct", i would say that it was his dedication to the relentless pursuit of all for one, not that he was doing so to his own detriment), he made an exception for deku's classmates because deku was going to get himself killed if he kept working alone.
