for all you pokemon scarlet and violet gamers, i put together a little shiny hunting guide because quite a few pals of mine have taken an interest in shiny hunting with the release of these games!! and tbh i think shiny hunting is in a rly fun state so i wanted to blabber on and on about it LKDFG;KDFG

While Tyrantrum is technically not my #1 favorite pokemon (though it's very high on the list!). As a character and individual pokemon I own, King has probably got to be my favorite. don't tell the others

i got it!!! liko’s sprigatito but shiny after 2072 sprigatito hatched and 6 total shinies! female, quirky nature matches her canon nature, hatch date is the first episode air date, moves and ability are accurate, most similar met location (school), and ofc her OT is Liko :D also the pokeball is the same but that doesn't mean anything cause it's a normal pokeball lol

i'm literally so happy this was so worth it. hatenna next but that should be much easier since they're 100% female lol

So Spinda reminded me of a story and I thought this would be fun.

So when I was in high school I found a shiny Spinda playing Pokémon alpha sapphire. I was ridiculously psyched cause with the spots it makes the shiny even more unique!!

Anyway I wanted to start a new game and my roommate said he’d trade for my Spinda and we could trade back whenever. We never really got around to it and then he moved and when he moved back to the area he didn’t want to be friends with me anymore so he never gave me my shiny Spinda back and I’m still upset about it

i tried to resist this shiny hunt... but the very moment that i got the pokeflute, i knew i would need to take it on. there's only two snorlaxes in leafgreen, blocking off routes like the icons they are. i always feel bad about waking them up so i figured they deserved the time commitment of a shiny hunt! (and lbr, the snorlax encounter is SUCH a classic... ough.)

snorlax has a pretty subtle shiny design, but it grew on me sooo much with time... the shade of blue is a super pretty one! i was actually a bit worried that i wouldn't notice the shiny whenever it showed up, but i noticed her RIGHT away when she did. the encounter was a pretty terrifying one - she has the rest + chesto berry combo, smdh, not to mention snorlax's catch rate - but i managed to catch her in a pokeball, which is pretty cool.

ANYWAY!!!! sleepytime was my 8726th snorlax seen! my first overodds hunt on this badge quest AND my first overodds hunt in a 1/8192 game... glad it wasn't too far overodds! and i hope that she'll forgive me for disturbing her cozy slumber!

i have played hundreds upon hundreds of hours of sinnoh since childhood and i have never once encountered a random shiny. i was just looking for paras (it's the last daily changing pokemon i need from the great marsh for the dex) and this wooper appeared. extremely poetic that quagsire is basically what got ayano into shiny hunting and then my first sinnoh random shiny is a wooper. we are blessed by this line in particular

I'm not a typical shiny hunter, I'll just spam hatch eggs till I get the shiny I want rather than run around looking for them, but you can't do that for Paradox Pokemon and I wanted a shiny Slither Wing really badly
