I wanted to ask if you can do a more in-depth, for Shikamaru in his obsession. Like, A more in-depth look at everyone’s reaction when they found out and a more in-depth look at how they treat each other. You don’t have to if you don’t want to, but I am obsessed with Shikamaru and his obsession

Hehe, I think lots of people love Shikamaru and his obsession~ I decided to write about what happens just after they met for the first time, hope you enjoy~

Omega!Shikamaru x Alpha!Reader

Summary: Meeting his obsession at only age 5, Shikamaru is lucky enough to have his entire lifetime with his obsession at his side. Shikaku doesn't feel quite so lucky.

Shikaku didn’t know whether to be proud, irritated or resigned at the situation that had been suddenly dumped in his lap. The burn of your parents’ suspicious eyebrow raises had him leaning towards the latter two emotions, but the happy purrs his son was letting at his feet, massaging his baby Obsessions hands in his own, tipped the scale back towards proud.

He still couldn’t believe that his son, barely five years old, had already found his obsession. He had been dreading the day this happened, remembering the way his own father had had to reign him in when he fell for Yoshino, and anticipating an older Shikamaru giving him some good old-fashioned karma. But it happening this soon wasn’t something he had predicted, nor something he was ready for. Even in his worst-case imaginings, he had thought about a hormonal fifteen-year-old Shikamaru, never a five-year-old that had only just started learning how to control his emotions.

Shikaku sighed and rubbed his face with his hand. The whole situation was troublesome.

“I understand that this is shocking, it is a surprise to us as well, Naras rarely find their obsessions this young,” his wife explained to your parents. He was so glad she was here to help him handle this. “But it isn’t something that can be taken back, nor something that can be stopped, so our best course of action is to figure out how we’re going to move forward.”

“This isn’t our first-time hearing about the Nara obsession instinct,” your mother said, seemingly the more relaxed one of your two parents, if the way your father was perched on the edge of the sofa like a tightly coiled spring was anything to go by. “But we had planned on only allowing sleepovers once they turned eight, so hearing about the expectation of sleepovers so suddenly isn’t easy to digest. I don’t understand why playdates can’t suffice.”

Shikaku tuned out Yoshino’s response, knowing that she would handle everything while ruffling as few feathers as possible. Well, provided your parents remained civil and open-minded. If they started demanding things that would hurt Shikamaru, Shikaku would have to pull her back before she decided violence was the best way to solve the problem. But seeing as the coast was clear for the moment, he turned his gaze towards his only son.

Shikamaru still had a tight grip on your hand, but his full attention was on your face now. He was leaning in just a little too close as you spoke, but you didn’t seem to mind. At least the silver lining was that Shikamaru had picked a relaxed baby alpha to obsess over.

“Your hair is very pretty,” you said quietly, a little smile on your face. “I like it.”

Furious purrs erupted from Shikamaru, his little face flushing in pride. Shikaku watched with amusement as Shikamaru immediately used his free hand to try and pull his hair out of his ponytail. His tiny fingers fumbled for a moment, but he eventually got it loose and yanked it out, pulling a few strands out along with it without so much as a flinch.

Shikaku remembered that feeling all too well, the way the desire to please Yoshino, make her happy with him, overshadowed everything else, even pain. When he first chose her, he would have been able to walk over a field of glass without flinching if he thought it would make her smile.

“You can touch it if you want,” Shikamaru said, practically vibrating with excitement as he leant his head forward, his now loose hair falling forwards towards you. “I don’t mind.”

“Wow, so soft!” you exclaimed, running your fingers through his hair. “Do you wash it with fairy dust?”

“No, just shampoo, but I also use conditioner,” Shikamaru announced proudly, pushing his head into your hand like a cat.

Shikaku smothered a snort. He imagined that Shikamaru would no longer roll his eyes and try to get out of using conditioner at bath time, something he was sure would delight his wife.

“We just can’t agree to that many nights with them away from home, away from us, they’re our child,” your mother said, just as Shikaku turned one ear back to the main conversation. “We might be able to divide the four nights in half though. We could have Shikamaru stay with us for two nights, but we’d need support navigating their relationship because we don’t know what’s normal or-“

Confident that things were going well enough that he wouldn’t have to restrain his wife, Shikaku turned back to his son and the baby alpha sitting on the floor beside him.

“Can I plait your hair, please?” you asked his son, still idly petting him.

Only yesterday, the same question had come from Ino, although the tone had been a little more demanding, and his son had rolled his eyes, refused, called Ino troublesome and gone to hide upstairs to take a nap.

His response now was like night and day. Shikaku watched his son’s face light up, his head bobbing up and down instantly.

“Yes, yes, whenever you want,” he said, falling over himself to turn around and present you with the back of his head. He scooted backwards until he was almost on your lap and then folded his hands together on his lap, waiting with barely contained excitable energy.

It was so strange seeing his son like this. He was used to his lazy petulance when face with chores, the competitive gleam in his eyes when they played shogi, his thinking face when he was presented a new puzzle or mystery, but this tidal wave of genuine, open affection and eagerness for companionship was something Shikaku had never seen.

“Thanks! You’re the best, Shika!” you said, separating his hair into three parts.

His son looked ready to ascend to a different plane of being.

This whole thing was a mess, Shikaku though, rubbing at his eyes. He wasn’t looking forward to the hundreds of tantrums he’d have to diffuse, the weird impulses he’d have to redirect or having to host another five-year-old in his house all the time. However, the pure happiness radiating off his son was more than worth all the bad. He was glad that Shikamaru would have his obsession with him for his entire life, and maybe it was wishful thinking, but hopefully Shikamaru would be used enough to his obsession and coping mechanisms that the hormonal nightmare of teenagerhood wouldn’t be so bad.

Shikaku gave the two children one more glance, vaguely amused to see Shikamaru silently mouthing ‘my alpha’ over and over again as you focused on plaiting his hair, before properly turning back to the conversation he was supposed to be a part of.

Everything would work out; he would make it so.

“Well, we should probably head off now,” your father said, standing up, holding the newly drawn up custody arrangement. “We’re having dinner with my parents tonight. Darling, time to leave, go and get your shoes on, please.”

“WHAT?! NO!”

“Here we go,” Shikaku sighed, trying to intercept Shikamaru before he got a hold on the baby alpha. Too late.

“Shikamaru, let go, they have to go home,” he said, kneeling down on the floor with them both.

“No!” his son whined, tears gathering on his water line. “They’re my alpha! Mine!”

“Shikamaru, that wasn’t a suggestion. Let them go.”

Shikamaru only growled at him, so Shikaku just started pulling him off you by the scruff.

Naruto Characters who should've been girl dads: a short list

Rock Lee

This man has PURE girl dad energy. He should've had a little girl that wants to kick ass just like him and he is in equal parts excited and worried because that's his little princess and he doesn't want her to get hurt, but he would help her train anyways, because he knows she can do it.

2. Sasuke Uchiha

Not a big fan of Sasuke tbh and ik he's canonically a girl dad but NO THE FUCK HE ISN'T this man nutted and dipped and left Sakura to raise Sarada by herself. CHARACTERS: Neji Hyuga, Shisui Uchiha, Shikamaru Nara, Madara Uchiha, Tobirama Senju

NEJI HYUGA: Okay so genin Neji would not be thrilled at the prospect of babysitting. He'd also be a little cocky thinking he'd have no problem wrangling a bunch of kids. He underestimates these trouble makers however and has a woeful time dealing with their "backtalking" and "incessant questioning of authority." That's him— he's the authority. Neji sweetie they're kids. Won't lose them though with his Byakugan and kind of scares them into behaving with his demeanour.

Teen/Adult (Jonin) Neji now is a lot more mellow and less harsh. He's going to be a lot softer and understanding. Is actually less confident with the task but does a lot better. Bends down to the kids level to talk to them. Treats them the same way he does adults in the way he talks to them but his tone his gentler. Is patient with their questions. Reads to them. Teaches them life lessons.

SHISUI UCHIHA: The best damn babysitter you could ask for and he knows it too. If you tell him though he'll get all bashful about it. He's so good with kids! Talks and plays with them like he is one. Being around kids helps him reset and forget his troubles. He can't help but want to protect them and their childhoods. Because of this just wants to show them the best time.

Kind of sneaky about the games he teaches. The games teach them strategy and how to think on their feet. Real world shinobi skills to help them learn how to hide and escape if they ever need it. Shisui also picks the littler kids up and zooms them around. Piggyback rides and races. Rolling down hills. Lots of laughter and fun.

Always letting the kids win and encouraging them when he can.

SHIKAMARU NARA: Doesn't matter when this is Shikamaru's always going to think it's going to be a drag babysitting. He's going to look for the easiest way to mind these kids. Think smarter not harder is his motto. Doesn't think he'll do a terrible job nor exceed expectations. He's there to tick a box. What he doesn't expect is to be kept amused by the kids. Having back and forth banter. The kids telling him "jokes" and stories.

Ha. So maybe babysitting isn't so bad. The kind of babysitter who is like 'Alright, I'll give you some treats if you don't tell your parents.' Totally has a secret pact with the kids. Teaches them all sorts of cool things. As long as they don't have to go anywhere or do anything too annoying.

The kind of babysitter the kids think are cool.

MADARA UCHIHA: Do not let this man babysit your kids. He's a terrible influence (affectionate). I don't mean big bad Madara either I just mean regular gremlin Madara. He's going to have your kids running wild and promoting their chaos. He has a complex where he both thinks he's the best babysitter in the world and thinks he's also going to fail big time.

Okay in all seriousness though he's good for kids who have a lot of energy and need to run around. He'll match their energy and do what they need to do to get all of that out. Won't bring any negativity to the table either. Just encourages them to go go go. And is behind them the entire time. Doesn't care about the mess either. Those kids want to roll around in mud? Alright mud fight it is. It's war baby. Takes those wargames very seriously. The kids call him sir and everything lol.

He encourages chaos in order to keep that watchful eye on them. He actually does an alright job.

TOBIRAMA SENJU: Great teacher. Terrible babysitter. Terrible with teensy children. Good with school level children in a teaching environment. But he just can't babysit. He's so bad with children that aren't his own or his students. He's just so awkward. You know how people hold toddlers like they're wild creatures with their arms completely stretched out in front of them? That's him holding them.

Everything becomes lectures when he talks to them and he's so theoretical and awkward at connecting and knows it. He honestly chooses to just not babysit.

I want to point out though he is really good at teaching children when they're his students. When they're old enough to somewhat take care of themselves and he just has to teach them the rest and theres time to make a connection—he can't explain it—it's just different. Like tweens he's good with tweens. Genuinely enjoys seeing the next generations flourish he just doesn't have those babysitting skills.

So. i heard that Shikamaru is your favorite character from Naruto, so i have a request. Shikamaru x short reader headcannons. like the reader only stands as tall as his bicep.

Shikamakru X Reader | Short Reader

Okay first of all, don't go all blushing when he calls you as his "pretty little arm rest" because he's doing it on purpose. He uses your shoulder or head a lot to rest his arm if you're standing side by side. Super romantic right? But you love it because none of you are BIG on PDA.

I feel like even though you both are not into PDA he still finds his hand touching you somehow, especially your cheeks. You two could be standing side by side with his arm over your shoulder and his hand slowly creasing your cheek. How can we blame him you're JUST THE RIGHT HEIGHT.

At first it did make a few people awkward but he does it unintentionally so he never really paid that much attention to it untill someone make it obvious that they ARE getting uncomfortable. But your friends are used to it now.

Expect A LOT of head pats coming your way. He lives to do it because A you look really cute being all excited when you do something good. B he just finds it cute how even after you jump out of excitement you still don't reach his height. He never mention this though.

When you're cooking he likes to rest his head in the crook of your neck. You're just perfect height for that. And if he's cooking then he'll have you site on the counter top so that you're easily accessible for kisses. Duh he needs motivation.

If you're insecure about your height then he'll help you get over it. He knows that insecurities can take over the best of the people and he doesn't want you see yourself any less than the way he see you.

He won't be too obvious about it though. He knows you take his words by heart because he never says anything that he doesn't mean. So he'll slowly start appreciating how being short is actually good in general. Then he'll start praising you if you're comfortable enough. He doesn't want to push you too hard but he wants you to be rid of all the things that might hold you back from being happy.

He likes to call you cupecake or dumpling when he finds you EXTRAAA cute. It has nothing to do with your height but he just likes to do so.

Now as for the spicy stuff. He likes to pick you up as you wrap your legs around his waist while making out.

Also he loves the fact that he can move your around like a doll in the bed too. It gives him a strange sense of power that he likes only in bed and always pushes him to do more.

hello! that sounds adorable <3 and this was a long time coming :,)

neji

neji was used to shyness, thanks to dealing with his painfully shy cousin hinata

while he held no such affections for her, his s/o caught him off-guard; they were endearing to him despite their shyness because they also communicated what they needed

not necessarily or always verbally, but they were adept at getting their message across to him

and he quickly became addicted to the feeling of openness and vulnerability that his s/o showed him and therefore made it easier for him to reciprocate

their dates mostly consisted of private picnics, and late night dinners in nature's seclusion where neji would provide cuddles and affectionate words only for his s/o's ears

shikamaru

shikamaru was lazy. there was no denying that

that also added to his cut-to-the-chase nature when it came to non-hostile situations where he needed to come up with elaborate plans to get his job done

so, while he could be rather blunt, he was surprised despite himself that he fell for someone so. damn. shy!

but in a good way of course! he would never admit it out loud, but he kinda found his s/o's tendencies to be adorable

it also came as a pleasant suprise that his s/o was a needy kind of shy

that meant, it fell onto shikamaru to initiate most things in their relationship, which wasn't too hard because he was good at reading people, but it sometimes clashed with his low-energy bar

however, it only made it more special when his s/o initiated a hug or a little kiss, because shikamaru knew how shy they were

He secretly finds comfort in your constant clinging. And the way you like to spend time with him. And be around him constantly. You must really like him. He’s secretly flattered.

He just can’t open up so he’s never gonna tell you that.

He’s not really the type that women are just falling at his feet, so you won’t have to worry about being jealous so much.

If a girl on a mission does get a little too close though, he WILL distance himself from her. Don’t worry.

He’ll complain if you step in for him to help get the girl away, but he’ll be grateful for the help (silently, bc out loud he’s saying he can handle it himself)

Kiba Inuzuka

I don’t know why people think Kiba is some player or fuck boy. So I want to go ahead and clarify, I don’t think he would be. I think he’s actually got nervous teen boy crushing energy, no matter his age.

He’s clinging to you too. Lmfao.

Literally you two are attached at the hip, arm, shoulder, whatever. Attached.

Akamaru is always with you two though, but who doesn’t love Akamaru?!

He gets jealous too.

You two are probably unbearable bc listen, hope for everybody’s sake you aren’t as jealous as he is.

If a man looks in your direction, he will whine for the rest of the night.

That being said, he is not accusing you of entertaining or doing anything, he’s just complaining about the guys audacity to even look in your direction.

Shino Aburame

DO NOT LET THIS MAN LIE TO YOU. He gets jealous.

Like petty kinda jealous. He’s a petty mf.

So you are not alone if you get jealous.

He’s also physically clingy behind closed doors, but ONLY behind closed doors.

He asks that you not hang off him like a koala in front of everybody, but he’ll perhaps hold your hand.

He’s clingy in a less physical way. He needs you to stay close to him most of the time, just be there. So if you like quality time, this the guy for you.

Back to jealously, this is the only reason I could ever foresee him being even a little toxic. He trusts you fully, but give a little bit too much attention to somebody and he’ll convince himself he’s like not your first choice and you forgot him like everybody else did.

So he’s more jealous than you, without a doubt in my mind.

Honestly, he takes time and effort to convince to settle down and get out of his own head.

Neji Hyuga

Not a PDA person. I think he might be willing to like hold hands. Accept a kiss on the cheek or something. But really, he wouldn’t be all TOO found of being literally clinged to.

However, he does like to have you around. So if you are just the clingy type in regards to being around them all the time, he’s okay with that.

He wants to be around you too.

He’s not the jealous type himself, and he probably won’t really notice that you’re jealous.

I don’t think he’d appreciate somebody other than you being all over him though, so you don’t have to worry much. He’ll tell a person straight up, no sugarcoating, to get away from him.

If you complain about somebody’s actions later, he’ll realize you were jealous. He’ll probably ask why if he told them off anyways. After a conversation, he’ll probably just reassure you that he will continue to tell people off.

Nobody touches him but you.

Rock Lee

HES SO MFING CLINGY

PHYSICALLY AND JUST IN GENERAL.

He talks about you all the time to everybody he can. He’s constantly telling people that you’re his partner. Bragging about you.

And since you’re clingy and he’s clingy, you’re probably right there by his side as he does this.

If for some reason, he doesn’t get a chance or remember to introduce you in some flamboyant, glamorous, extra way, and somebody tries to make a pass at him, he won’t notice they’re flirting unless it’s OBVIOUS.

So cue your jealously.

He would be the type to literally push somebody away and say some shit like “I’m flattered, but I have a gorgeous, amazing partner already.”

Sai Yamanaka

(I call him Sai Yamanaka bc it creates a bigger line for the name btw, he’s not married in this case)

He does not mind you constantly clinging to him or following him around. Not in the slightest.

That is because he likes you, so he wants to be around the person he likes, after all. (Sai, yall are dating. That’s obvious, you don’t have to say it)

He probably follows you around a lot because he thinks he’s supposed to. And also, he finds that he likes to be around you.

He might do something a book told him to, get too close to another person, paying no mind to any like reason it could be wrong. He didn’t mean it that way.

And since we’ve established you’re the jealous type, you’d have to explain to Sai that he can’t just get too close to other people like that.

Gaara of the Sand

He doesn’t mind the clinging, but he doesn’t have the time for it :/

When you can cling to him or follow him around without interfering with his focus and work, he’s perfectly okay with it.

And he’ll find himself wishing that when he’s busy, he wasn’t so you could be with him.

A lot of the girls in the village have a crush on him now that he’s kazekage, so you’re bound to be pretty jealous.

But Gaara doesn’t let these girls near him. He’s polite with them, but he’s not entertaining anything at ALL.

You don’t have to worry with him. He’s as loyal as can be.

At home, he’s clinging to you too. He’s touch starved.

And he loves to spend his free time with you.

Kankuro of the Sand

Cling to him in public like a koala. He’s not complaining. He’s BRAGGING.

PLEASE.

He’s the type to tease you about it, but if you break away from him because of it he’ll complain bc WHERE ARE YOU GOINGGG?

He would purposely make you jealous. Within reason. He will not disrespect your relationship to do so. But if he knows something simple could make you jealous, like giving too much attention to a stuffed animal, he will do it on purpose

“You wish this was you, huh?”

He’d like it if you wanted to just come sit in his workshop with him while he works on puppets. He’ll talk when he’s not like SUPER focused.

hi there! could I please request some headcanons for shikaneji newly living together for the first time?

a/n: ohhh yes it's been so long since I've done anything shikaneji

tags: headcanons, fluff, living together, domestic vibes, suggestive themes and vibes but nothing explicit

characters: Shikamaru Naru, Neji Hyuga (paired together shikaneji)

I feel like they're one of those couples who starts living together accientally before they officially move in together.

It's the same thing with becoming a couple. They get together by going with the flow and a massive build up of strong emotions and feelings until they can't keep them in anymore and it just happens one night and keeps happening.

There's no official couple talk at first until they HAVE to bring it up out of fear of losing the other to someone else.

It's the same with moving in together.

It starts by wanting to just be around each other as much as possible. It's hard to balance a relationship between missions but it works for them because this is the life they want to live.

Shikamaru is the stable one in that he's got a set routine. He's in the village most of the time doing he's duties and it is a lot easier to pinpoint his location. He's pretty easy to find once you work out his hide away spots too—a piece of cake for someone with the byakugan.

Neji is the wild card. He's sent away on missions that vary in location and duration. That means he's the one who is seeking out Shikamaru. Which also means they usually end up back at Shikamaru's place.

Now that Neji knows an existence outside the suffocating air of his clan he looks for any excuse to spend evenings away from there. It's like learning to breathe again, spending nights away with Shikamaru.

Sometimes he returns from missions in the middle of the night and he'll just head straight to Shikamaru's and climb into bed with him. Shikamaru never questions it either, just snorts and shuffles over like he's been waiting for him the whole time.

Other times Shikamaru will roll him over, pull his clothes off and make him forget there was ever a time before, a time before they created a little home together in their hearts.

It gets to a point where Neji barely goes home. Most of his clothes are mixed in with Shikamaru's. He eats there, sleeps there and spends all his free time when he's not out or in the village there. It's practically like they both live there.

It's solidified one day when Shikamaru is lying on the veranda, arms behind is head when suddenly says, 'It's getting colder.'

Neji hums in agreement, as he sits drinking his tea a few feet from him.

'So we should get a kotatsu table for our place.'

Neji almost chokes on his tea at the last few words. Shikamaru has always gone with the flow and fallen into things like feelings a lot more easily than he has but this? Declaring it is their house? That is something else.

'You alright over there?' Shikamaru asks without moving.

Neji clears his throat. 'Yes.' He shakes it off. 'A kotatsu table? I have one.'

'Perfect, I'll help you bring it over with the rest of your stuff tomorrow then.' He can hear Shikamaru's smirk from where he sat. 'It's about time right?'

'Right.' Neji tries to fight back the smile. He feels so warm inside.

Not a lot changes in their routine once they do start living together but they do become even closer. It's like they've cemented the fact they're together again like 'Yeah, you're my person.'

In truth there isn't even a lot for Neji to move in because most of his stuff is there. So once they're done something just comes over Shikamaru and he HAS to have Neji right there and then.

Most of the day is less about moving and more about intimacy. They go at it most of the day. And if they aren't doing it they're just kind of lying there having pillow talk and being vulnerable because 'shit we are officially living together now', no skirting around it kind of living together it's OFFICIAL and oop now they're doing it again.

In terms of what they're like together.

Neji is the one who is a spotless cleaner and a decent cook. Cooks more fish dishes and leaner meat dishes—healthier balanced meals that every shinobi needs. Loves tea! Always has a bunch on hand. Likes his baths. Not a fan of clutter but can deal with a little from others.

Shikamaru is somewhat tidy but he's too tired to keep things spotless and he doesn't see the point. He has a laundry pile on the chair he fixes every couple days (it used to be on the floor until he got scolded by his lover so he moved it to the chair—it's an improvement lol). Likes bathing with Neji but if he's not home he'll have quick showers.

Opts for balanced meals doesn't care about super healthy as long as it's tasty and everythings there. Loves meat and snacking. Sometimes leaves the dishes until the next day or two (feels guilty when he sees Neji doing them bc that man cannot stand dirty dishes in the sink lmao)

Neji grew up in an environment where everything had to be neat and presentable so Shikamaru tries to convince him that the bed doesn't need to be made. Neji promptly calls him an animal while shaking the blanket up and straightening it out maticulously. Shikamaru thinks its hot how he does that.

I mentioned the bathing together. They bathe and shower together as some intimacy time but also general prep/aftercare. Shikamaru also just loves unwinding at the end of the day with Neji this way. It's very relaxing and he can make him blush VERY easily.

The kotatsu also ended up being an excellent idea! They can snuggle together while Shikamaru has coffee and Neji has tea. Shikamaru naps there in the cooler months. Neji loves relaxing there knowing he brought in something useful to THEIR home.

Neji also brings some low maintenance plants to brighten up the place so Shikamaru doesn't accidentally kill them while he's away. Because he absolutley does forget to water them sometimes and he panics. It's okay Neji predicted this. Also bought some herb plants which he asks Hinata to check in on whenever he's away lol.

All in all they have a good balance and dynamic that only strengthens when they start living together.
