god, maya’s impression of bellamy must’ve been absolutely legendary. first off, she’s only heard stories about him from jasper and co, who all essentially worship him, and then when she meets him he. he knows her name right away, like some kind of mythical creature. he’s is this powerful and intense and vengeful guy with beautiful and kind eyes who keeps asking if she’s okay. and then not 2 minutes into their relationship he beats the shit out of someone and gets all bloody and looks monstrous in this yellowish lighting, but then he’s like, “are you alright?” in this soft and gentle voice, as if he’s not the one bruised and pained about what he had to do. i can’t imagine how intriguing he would be. and then he’s super intense and serious and broody for the rest of their walk, until they meet the children, and he’s even more tortured about it. and when he talks to clarke about their plan and maya doesn’t seem confident about the long laundry list of tasks they have to do, he still smiles and assures that it’s not a problem. always believing in the impossible for the sake of everyone else.
the way he immediately steps into that big brother role with her. the way maya sees all these complicated sides of him all at once, and still chooses to go all in.
this dynamic is one of the most interesting ones on the show, it’s a shame we only get to see it for just a few episodes.

You know, I think Clara knew about Amy.
Not at first, of course, but Clara grew up with her --- that is, grew up reading Amelia Williams books. And they were precious to her, books she's read many times over the course of her childhood -- how else does she know exactly which chapter holds what in the book she gave Artie? Perhaps she has always felt connected to her, this moderately obscure children's fantasy author, following in the footsteps of E Nesbit; this contemporary (and sometime friend (oh yes!) ) of Edward Eager's; although not nearly as widely known as either of these. Perhaps because of her choice to publish openly under a "woman's name", thus, in the time in which she lived, relegating her books to the inferior realm of "girls' books", despite the more than equal balance of male viewpoint characters.
But Amelia Williams is different from these authors too -- often fantasy, but sometimes more like early science fiction, a barely- recognized pioneer in both genres. Her views were feminist and daring. In so many ways she was ahead of her time, and the innovations she imagined! almost as if she knew what the future would hold.
And if Clara knows and loves her books so well, she can hardly fail to recognize the most frequently repeated character archetype in them. especially after she rereads a few on a subconscious hunch, during that summer after the Maitlands found a permanent nanny and she insisted that before anything else, she go off and fulfill her original travel plans from 101 Places To See. (The Doctor purported to leave her alone to forge her own way with this, but was in actuality very bad at that, and kept popping up nearly every place she went.) She's Clara, she's clever, how can she fail to look up from her book and notice that the person who's just appeared out of nowhere to stand in front of her with a plate of jammie dodgers and a goofy smile has stepped directly out of the pages?
And then of course, there are the dedications. Sure, there's normal stuff like "to my daughter", "to my loving and patient husband", and "to my parents, who are children now" which is rather weird and whimsical, but fits in with the fantasy author's signature style of dream-like imagination.
But the majority of Amelia Williams' dedication pages say things like "to You", "to My Doctor", "to My Raggedy Doctor" "to my raggedy man" (weird but clearly connected to the other variants), and, cryptically, over and over again: "to you", "to you", "to you", "to you (wherever in time and space you are)".
There's "to my imaginary friend" and "to my imaginary friend, and to all children who have an imaginary friend" and "to my imaginary friend, and every child in the universe who's ever met him, or ever will". Nerds and English teachers have occasionally debated what, if anything, she meant by all this, and now Clara thinks she knows, but she can never say....
And then there are the nights that the Doctor wakes up crying out for "Amy!" and then refuses to talk about it when Clara asks, refuses to acknowledge ever even knowing an Amy, "well everyone shouts random things when they're asleep, it doesn't mean anything" and "I don't remember." if pressed for details about his dreaming. And later he might go off somewhere and cry quietly, reading a book he never lets Clara see.
And then he regenerates, and calls out for "Amelia!", "the first face this face saw."
There's newborn twelve, with his Scottish accent, letting her name slip. It's the first - and only - time he's spoken of her while awake and not actively dying. And Clara is too busy with the immediate threat to their lives to think about it in the moment, but at this point she at the very least has a hunch about the connection between him and the Scottish-American author with the rather opaque background --- that as far as anyone can trace it (although to be fair, no one really cares enough to try very hard) she and her husband just kind of appeared out of nowhere in pre-WWII New York. It seems kind of obvious, now, that the doctor would have had a hand in that.
And now with all the books everywhere, the library gradually migrating into the console room, what else is obvious is that he owns every single one of her books. multiple copies, first editions, last editions, signed copies, mass paperbacks, everything. There's a TARDIS key hidden in a well-worn, well-loved, tear streaked copy of The Cuckoo And The Doll's House, which Clara finds when she's cataloging all the locations of TARDIS keys, just in case she should ever need that information one day.
This all is enough for Clara to know. There doesn't really need to be any more proof, but there is. What totally and fully clinches it are the pictures. Tucked in the pages of another tearstained book (The Beast Below this time), are photographs of Amelia, looking just as she does in her black and white author photos, but younger, and in 21st century clothes. Elsewhere, later, she finds photo booth polaroids of a still younger Amelia, goofing off and smiling. Some of them feature another young man Clara doesn't recognize, and some of them feature the Doctor. He's wearing a tweed jacket instead of his purple wool, and no vest, but otherwise he is exactly the same as the Doctor she first met. The three of them hang off each other like old friends, like family.
idk how to end this.

Let's talk about Teru and Aoi and how interesting Teru behavior with Aoi is.
Teru is on a mission to see what has changed from the original timeline to this one, he said so himself.
Tumblr media
But he makes a strange move and completely ignores the very big change he was presented with: His engagement with Aoi. The plan was to abandon his 'brand new fiance' and go look for other changes.
Tumblr media
Aoi holding his armband, asking for his attention in a very Aoi way and showing a willingness to go on a date with him shocked Teru less than the engagement news but it stuck to him in a way the engagement did not.
Just compare how Teru go 'welp it is what it is, what a strange timeline,' with a level of dismissal that makes him talk to Akane instead of Aoi about the situation.
Tumblr media
To how he takes this Aoi at least seriously enough to question her request for them to go out.
So the idea Aoi wants to date him is more confusing to him than being engaged. So much so he does what he does with the original Aoi and starts asking her questions, even picturing the old Aoi as he ask for her hand, adding a lot of '...' in it.
It feels like a test.
Tumblr media
A test Aoi failed by accepting his hand, doing something the Aoi he knew never would.
Tumblr media
Teru is closed up during his date with Aoi.
He goes with the flow because he needs answers to go back home, he needs to figure out why she is so different but he is tense about this date. His sword bag is a tight fist, pulling at the strap when she clings to his arm.
Tumblr media
During their entire date, he keeps this fake little smile on. Avoiding to touch her as much as he can, and not having much to say despite usually not only being good at acting like a flirty prince when people want him to, but having fun in the role.
So Teru isn't indifferent in his date he is tense as fuck.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When he decides he'll send the picture to Akane and Aoi breaks character from lovey dovey fiance, Teru shows a hint of interest again, he goes "ohh? is there a problem?"
It's another test.
Tumblr media
She fails but her panics about hurting Akane must either remind him of the og aoi or entertain his more sadistic side, so he goes 'hmmm', which is unimpressed for sure, but still a far more positive reaction than the "unease" that popped up when aoi had held his hand.
By the end of their date i'm pretty sure Teru comes to the conclusion Aoi likes him. I believe this for two reasons.
First, he start playing along with his fiance role instead of being guarded and silent, asking her to feed him with a smile that doesn't feel fake or tense, it's his usual :D expression instead of the :) he has been wearing this whole chapter.
Tumblr media
The second thing of note is that this is the first time he actually touches Aoi.
During the entire manga, even in the old timeline, Teru never even poked her shoulder, but this time he lightly holds her hand to stabilize the snack.
Tumblr media
He seems bothered by people crowding them and he actually perks up when Aoi asks him to go to a more isolated place, his smile feels somewhat casual at the invite too, not like his tense ones from before.
Tumblr media
When Aoi slaps him he is surprised.
Tumblr media
And this part only further suggests that when he had asked Aoi to fed him, he was under the impression she genuinely likes him in this timeline.
So he doesn't have a problem doing couple things like being fed by Aoi as long as he believes Aoi enjoys it too.
Tumblr media
But she doesn't like him.
Just like the Aoi he knows doesn't. It feels right.
Teru is happy.
Tumblr media
Immediately after learning this Teru tries to find more similarities with the old Aoi, asking about her crush on akane and going back to his mission of determining why changes happened.
Tumblr media
Aoi mentions they are both unhappy in this arranged marriage and that they are only playing along to appease their families. Teru is surprised that he is unhappy too.
Tumblr media
I am not entirely sure what this means but it is noteworthy that he seems genuinely surprised the 'him' of this timeline is opposed to the marriage Aoi.
Tumblr media
This little Teru is a brat, but his smile and blush contrast with his word. Either he is displeased greatly by this but refuses to 'play victim' like Aoi, or he cares more than he lets on.
He was the one who found her when Aoi admitted her intention was to hide. So he went out of his way to find this "annoying victim blaming girl"
Tumblr media
Maybe this means his parents ordered Teru to go find her fiance, make a good first impression, and put on appearances, maybe he went to find her himself for some reason?
As of now, it's hard to say, we don't have enough info about this new timeline to guess very well, but it is food for thought.
Now back to the old timeline, with the Teru we are familiar with: Aoi asks about his family, about expectations and performance, and that isn't a topic he is very comfortable with, just look at his face.
Tumblr media
But he does answer her.
He is very awkward, but he doesn't lie, it feels genuine.
He even mentions his mom, which he hasn't mentioned to anyone before, not even Akane.

misplaced jealousy
“You should have asked how I felt about this ‘tiny Childe’ before you let him take my place in your arms.”
word count: 1.2k
original ask
tags: gn reader, fluff
taglist | masterlist
Tumblr media
When you told Childe that you planned to use your annual leave from work to get back to some crafting, he’d thought that it was a great idea. He’d asked around to find the best supplies possible, had them delivered to you in a neat little package, and waited patiently to hear whether you liked it or not. He knew he’d be at the bank when the delivery came, so he half expected you to come by and tell him about all the plans you had for each item.
But you’d been really quiet about it, and he worried that maybe the package had never made it to you, so he drops by to check it got delivered to the house. He opens the front door, expecting you to notice almost immediately, like you always did, but you don’t. In fact, for a few minutes, he’s convinced you’re not even home, until he decides to check your office.
“You know, if your inhumane ability to know when the door is opened is broken, you might have to look at locking the front door more often.” He says, as soon as he spots you hunched over your desk. You jump as soon as you hear him, but turning your attention away from your sketch seems to be a hard task.
“Jeez, Ajax, you scared the life out of me,” you say, as he reaches down to hug you. “What are you doing here?”
“I was concerned the craft supplies I ordered for you never made it,” He says. “So i thought i'd come by and check”
“You just wanted to slack off,” You laugh, putting your pencil down. “Anyway, it’s a good thing you came. I planned to come down to the bank to thank you myself, but I got totally distracted with ideas.”
“And those ideas are?” Childe asks, trying to get a glance at your paper, but you flip the paper over, glaring at him half heartedly.
“For me to know, and you to find out later.” You pull him into a hug, laughing as he tries to pull away from you and the kisses you plant on his face. “Thank you. Really.”
“Anytime,” he responds. He sits with you a little longer, trying his best to observe quietly, but failing miserably as he descends into peals of laughter at your attempt to draw a bunny. Or was it supposed to be a dog? He doesn’t know, and he never gets to find out, because you throw him out of your office and he finds himself forced to return to work.
He very quickly begins to regret his laughter at your sketch, because now he’s not allowed in the same room as you if you're making your plushies, and it just so happens that every minute of your day is consumed by your crafting activities. When he got home, you used to at least acknowledge his presence, but now, it's as if he comes home to an empty house.
To make matters worse, the only way he knows if you’re alive or not is if something goes wrong. And you seem to be so good at what you’re doing that he only ever hears you curse frustratedly once a day if he’s lucky. Sometimes you come out to eat dinner with him, and other times you fuel yourself on snacks and don’t leave your office until night when you tiredly crawl into bed next to him without a single word.
As much as he wants to march into your office and burn every single thing he bought so that you’d look at him again, he knows you deserve your own space, so he tries to find a hobby of his own. (It doesn’t work, and it only makes him miss you more.)
After a week of feeling like he doesn't exist, he returns home, expecting to once again be met with a silent house.
“Oh, you’re back, great,” You say, getting up to hug him when you feel the sudden gust of air from the front door opening. “I need your opinion on something 'cause I think that Liyue has the spiciest food, but for some reason, my friend thinks Mondstadt does. Like has she even eaten Mondstadt’s food before?”
“So you’ve remembered I’m alive?” Childe mutters into your hair. You look up at him skeptically.
“I wasn’t that bad,” you scoff. “Was I?”
“You were horrendous.” he laughs. “But at least it’s over now.” He doesn’t dare ask you to see the finished product, in case it suddenly makes you decide to revisit the project.
You apologise lightly, laughing at the face he makes when he’s forced to relive the past week in his mind. The rest of the night seems normal–you eat dinner together and spend the rest of the evening relaxing in each other’s company. You go to bed nestled up in Childe’s arms, the same way you usually do.
Everything goes wrong in the morning, when he notices that you rolled away in the middle of the night, and is horrified to discover that you did so to cuddle the stupid plushie that’s been taking you away from him for the past week. He considers excusing it since the plushie is in his likeness, but in the end, he decides that it’s too much of an insult, and the minute your grip on it loosens, he grabs it and hides it in a wardrobe he knows you rarely go into.
Since it's a weekend, he busies himself with making breakfast to try and forget the ridiculous situation he finds himself in because it makes no sense to him. How is he literally getting replaced? And by a stuffed toy?
“Morning, Ajax,” You mutter sleepily, as you come down the stairs. “You’ve not seen tiny Childe, have you? He must have fallen off the bed at some point last night but he’s not underneathh it, so I have no clue where he’s gone.”
“I slept well, thanks, you?” He replies, focusing on the eggs he’s frying.
“Ajax.” You suddenly don’t sound sleepy at all, and Childe keeps himself firmly facing the stove. He quietly turns it off, just in case you decide that taking your plush is a crime punishable by death by flames.
“Yes?”
“What did you do?”
“Nothing.”
“You’re the worst liar ever. What did you do to tiny Childe?”
“You should have asked how I felt about this ‘tiny Childe’ before you let him take my place in your arms.”
“You are not jealous of a plush right now.”
“Maybe I am.” he scoffs. “Maybe it’s silly. But I maintain that until you atone for your misdemeanours, ‘Tiny Childe’ will never see the light of day again.”
“You’re joking,” Your attempts to hide how hard you're trying not to laugh fail miserably, and you can see Childe trying his best not to laugh either. But in the face of a completely ridiculous situation, what are either of you supposed to do?
“Fine,” you sigh, pulling him into a hug. “I apologise for giving my attention to something else, and I will never, ever do it again.”
“Much better.” Childe grins.
~~~
Bonus:
“You lasted way longer than I thought you would. I half expected you to break down my office door.”
“What do you mean?”
“You really thought it took me a whole week to make that?”
Monsters PT2
Summary: You survived for so long. The yautja came to clear out the xenomorphs and to find you.
Warnings: slight swearing.
It's been six months since Du'sa saved me from death and brought me to his home planet only to figure out that his mission to save me was supposed to fail all because Jeanette wanted me dead and not alive. Still can't believe she tried to kill me after me being here for only an hour. I sigh as I look out of my huts window. Du'sa thought it would be best if I lived in my own hut. Guess he doesn't like having guests stay with him long. I shake my head and walk away from the window. Okay, what are my plans for today. Du'sa gave me the day off from training since we just got back from a hunt a few days ago. It went incredibly well. I've been on multiple hunts in these past few months, but that wasn't until after my training with Du'sa was deemed good enough. Although I was human, I was still regarded as one of the best hunters this planet has seen. They respected me, and I respected them. I was pulled away from thoughts when a knock was heard. I look over and see the elder at my door. I bow in respect to him and kindly greet him. "Hello, Vi-Zata. What brings you here today?" I asked him. He smiles at me, and I motion for him to come in. "Came to see my favorite kv'var-de." He spoke. I gave him another look and let out a chuckle. "You know me too well, Oomani-di. I've noticed how no one has tried to court you." He said with a small smile. I look at him confused. Court me? What does that mean? Like try to date me? "I don't understand Vi-Zata. Court me? Why would someone want to do that?" I asked him.
He tilts his head out of curiosity and lets out a chuckle. "Oomani-di, you make me laugh. So many of my yeyin sain'jas are hulij-bpe about you." He spoke. My face immediately became bright red from what he had told me. "How many brave warriors are we talking about here? Why would they be crazy about me?" I ask in a shy tone. He just shrugs and goes to leave. "Wait, Vi-Zata, you can't just drop all of this on me and expect me to be okay with this." I said to him angrily. He ignored me and waved goodbye as he walked out of my hut. I shook my head and quickly followed after him. "Vi-Zata please hold on a minute!" I yell to him, but he disappeared in the busy street. Son of a bitch. I should have known he was only coming to visit to leave me confused or angry. That man loves bothering me. I groaned and looked around. Maybe I can talk to Du'sa about this? I'm hoping he's home and can spread some light on what Vi-Zata was talking to me about. I begin to walk towards his hut where only to walk into someone. "Sorry." I say quickly. I went to walk around but a hand on my arm stopped me. I looked to see one of the trackers from my previous hunt. "Oomani-di, do you have a moment?" He asked me. I tilted my head and looked at him. "I have something to give you." He told me. Before I could say anything, I felt myself getting pulled away from him. "She doesn't want that gift." I hear a familiar voice say to him.
I turn my attention quickly to Du'sa. "How do you know she doesn't want my gift?!" I hear the other yautja ask angrily. "I'm right here! I don't need anyone speaking on my behalf!" I said loudly. They both stop looking at each other and then at me. I ripped my arm free of Du'sa's grip. "Oomani-di you don't understand what he means by giving you something." Du'sa said to me. I let out an annoyed sigh. I turn my attention to the yautja that had stopped me originally. "A-Bho'tath right now isn't the right time for a gift. Maybe come another time." I told him sweetly. He stared at me and then looked at Du'sa. "Is it because he's already started the process?" He asked me and tilted his head slightly. This in turn made me tilt my head in confusion. "What process? Look I don't know what's going on or why you're giving me something." I told him truthfully. A-Bho'tath clicks something to Du'sa before letting out a small laugh. He turned to me and presented a skull to me. What the fuck! I turn to Du'sa, who looks pissed at what was happening in front of him. His body rigid and his mandibles flaring. I turn my attention back to A-Bho'tath. "Uhm what is happening?" I asked genuinely confused. "He's trying to start the courting process." Du'sa said angrily. I looked at A-Bho'tath and give him a kind smile. "I do appreciate this but no thank you. You seem like a nice guy and all, but I don't know you well enough to give you the same feelings back." I told him. A-Bho'tath looked at me shocked that I rejected him. He got up in a huff and bumped roughly into Du'sa as he walked by.
I quickly put my head down and walked out of the public's eye when I noticed some yautja staring at what was happening. I have never been more embarrassed and guilty than this before. My huts cloth door fluttered behind me from how fast I walked through it. I sat down on the couch and covered my face with my hands. Should I have just accepted the skull he presented to me? A soft knock came from the door of my hut. "Come in." I said quietly. "Can I get your help with something?" I hear Du'sa say softly. I uncovered my face and looked at Du'sa. My eyes widened with worry. I see a very beaten up Du'sa standing at my door. "Du'sa what happened?" I asked while rushing over to him. He lets out a soft chuckle and pats my head. "Do not worry too much about me, Oomani-di. I'll be fine." He said to me softly. I helped him to my couch and then quickly went to grab my first aid stuff. "Du'sa please tell me what happened!" I yelled from the bathroom. I quickly came back with the first aid kit in hand. I kneeled in front of him and opened the kit up. "It was a minor fight that's all. I wasn't going to let A-Bho'tath bump into me without putting him in his place." Du'sa spoke so nonchalant as if this was an everyday occasion. I mean I have seen yautja fight all the time but never have I seen anyone challenge Du'sa. I know they push each other as a challenge to fight and that means... "Please don't tell me it was over me." I said just above a whisper. I was afraid that my thought was true. "Oomani-di I think we both know the answer to that." He told me softly. Oh... so I'm the reason why he's hurt. I felt my eyes water. I started to clean the small cuts he had on his body and tried to distract my mind with the task at hand. I tried my best to not cry, but a few tears slipped out. Once I was satisfied with my work and patching him up, I quickly packed the first aid kit up.
When I went to get up, I felt Du'sa place a hand gently on my shoulder. I didn't dare to look at him as more tears escaped from my eyes. I didn't want him to think I was upset with him or anything when, in reality, I was upset that I was the one who caused him harm. I should have just accepted the gift, and none of this would have happened. "(Y/n)... Look at me." I hear Du'sa say softly. I refused to look at him. I don't want him to see me crying over him like this. "(Y/n) look at me." Du'sa said sternly. I shook my head. I couldn't look at him, and even if I wanted to, I wouldn't look him in the eyes. I feel his hand gently grab my chin so he could turn me to look at him. Once our eyes met, I felt the tears freely fall down my cheeks. "Come here." He speaks. He pulls me off my knees and on to his lap. He held me tightly to him while he was purring to calm me. "(Y/n)... I'm fine I came to my favorite doctor to patch me up. It was a minor fight for me. If anything, A-Bho'tath looks worse." He tells me with a small chuckle. "Du'sa but you still had a fight with him over me. I'm not worth fighting over." I told him seriously. I gave him a serious look, and he matched. "My mate is worth fighting over, actually. I'm not going to let anyone try and steal you from me. You said it from day one that I'm your protector." He spoke. Wait, what?
Did he just call me his mate? I didn't mean mate when I called him my protector. "I... huh?" I couldn't even figure out what to say to him. The words jumbling up from the anxiety that is now coursing through my body. He chose me over the many females who have thrown themselves at him. "Why me?" Was the only thing I could think of to ask him. He tilts his head a bit confused on what I had asked. "Why me? Why not one of the many female yautja that are all over you? I'm not as strong or even as powerful as those ladies are. I probably wouldn't be able to carry your pups. I-." He cuts me off by putting his hand up. "Oomani-di I do not care about those other females. I knew from the moments my eyes landed on you for the first time that I had to make you mate. You survived for years with those xenomorphs and somehow outsmarted them. Even after I told you to stay put you still left and tried to survive out in the woods. You somehow avoided three of us. You literally put your scent in a different direction to put us off your trail for a bit. The females here don't have my attention like you do. I don't care if you can give me a pup or not. You're the only thing that matters to me. You accepted the skull I gave you in a heartbeat which means you have accepted me as your mate." He tells you. I looked at him confused for a moment as I racked my brain for a skull, he gave me. "Wait are you talking about that bird like skull you gave me?" I asked him. He nods his head. I felt more confused because to me I thought it was just a cute little trinket to put out for show or something. "I'm lost here. How does that skull mean I choose you?" I asked confused. He lets out a small chuckle. "Maybe I should have taught you about our culture a little bit more instead of training you so much." He mumbled to himself. "Wait is this what A-Bho'tath was trying to do? In your culture you give gifts in order to court someone?" I ask trying to make sense of everything. He nods his head. "A skull is usually the gift to start the courting process. So, if the person we are trying to court takes it then they have accepted us a mate." He explains to me. I nod my head. "Wait so you're one of yeyin sain'jas that the elder was telling me about." I said with a smile.
 He nods his head. "The number one contender for your heart actually." He said proudly. I blushed and smiled brightly at him. "Number one huh?" I asked. He nods again. "Well, I guess if you were number one then you deserve a prize don't you." I said in a matter-of-fact tone. He tilts his head confused. "(Y/n)-." He began to say before I straddled him. His body went from a bit tense to more relaxed. His hands immediately fell to my hips. I leaned in and began to pepper kisses all over his face. The sound of happy clicking filled the air as I continued kissing his face. I pulled away from him after a few minutes. "I'm glad you choose me." I told him. He happily clicked something to me that I kind of understood but it was still hard to get some things. "You're always going to be my first choice." He told me softly.
Okay, so I have a smaaaall idea for a possible fanfic/fan comic/au, so I'm just gonna say it in the lamest of terms that I can, feel free to take this idea and make it yourself as long as you give some credit and also tag me in the posts. Pre Enter the Florpus btw.
Zim realizes just how big the impact that Professor Membrane has on planet earth, and he tries to use it to his advantage. He kidnaps him one night without anyone knowing (somehow) and quickly makes a clone of him, programming it to be almost completely identical to Professor Membrane himself, except the clone is now loyal to the Irken race, making it to where if Zim told him to go do something in the name of the Tallest or whatever, he'd do exactly that. Though Zim made one tiiiiny mistake. You see, Zim isn't aware of what Dib's or Gaz's home life with Professor Membrane is like, and since Professor Membrane himself was still unconscious as he made and was programming the clone, he couldn't have asked him about it. So what did Zim do as to try and not get Dib suspicious about his new plan? He tried to make his father's clone as close as possible to the original... Except Zim ended up making him loving. More compassionate. More emotionally supportive and available, like how most of the other parents on earth act towards their children. So imagine the surprise that Dib experienced when he was just rambling on about ghosts and para-science to his dad, thinking that he'd not care at all about it like always and maybe even lecture him about believing in it once again, only to hear the first words out of his mouth be, "Wow son, that's amazing! Say, where did you learn that from? I honestly wouldn't be surprised if you taught yourself that though, as my boy has always been a smart one!" Immediately, Dib and Gaz noticed these differences from him, though Gaz was the only one who had gotten suspicious about it, as Dib was just so happy that finally his dad was actually being there for them!
The rest of it is basically Gaz doing a Dib and practically going insane as she tries to figure out what happened to their dad, meanwhile Dib doesn't believe that anything happened at all, despite the already clear evidence that something did infact happen, all the while Zim is trying yet failing to get "Professor Membrane" to do his bidding, as the clone is now mostly on Dib's side when it comes to their beef. I'm calling this the Professor Memfake Au, do with it whatever you like (besides gross pro shipping shit, never do that with my creations).
A pretty distraction
When Gale transforms into a woman during a mission, Tav and Astarion can’t keep their dirty thoughts at bay. Poor Karlach and Wyll get caught in the cross fire.
(Trigger warning (18+): graphic description of sex, smut, threesome, body worship, cowgirl, fellatio, fingering, polymorph spell)
Notes:
Karlach’s and Wyll’s faith is based on this fic.
"The Staff of Authority. What's that thing again?"
"It's the sceptre that the Council of Four passes onto their successors during the ceremony," Wyll explained a second time, slightly irritated. "It's a meaningful and important artefact of the Baldur's Gate nobles."
"How boring," Astarion retorted. "They have no imagination. They should have come up with something more fun. Like a butt plug. That would be more enjoyable than the stick those nobles have up their asses."
Wyll almost frothed at the mouth.
"Have you no respect? These noble families play an extremely important roles to keep Baldur's Gate the flourishing city it is!"
"It still can't hold a candle to the City of Splendors," Gale chimed in, smirking smugly.
"Stop encouraging Astarion's bad manners!" the warlock hissed.
"Calm down, sunshine. Gale's clearly teasing," Karlach chuckled and wrapped an arm around her lover.
Wyll grumbled unintelligible, but was glad for the grounding touch.
"But the Staff of Authority got stolen and your father tasked us with getting it back," Tav finished the conversation.
The vampire spawn wrinkled his nose.
"I never liked playing the hero."
"Stop complaining, love. We all know, deep down, you're a softie," the bard teased him lightly, kissing his cheek.
The addressed pursed his lips and tried to look more pissed than he actually was – and failed.
"At least, we know where the item is," Gale sighed. "I'm glad we're done drinking our way through every seedy tavern of the city. The watered-down beer was repelling. Downright vile."
"Oh, shut up, darling. We all know you prefer the finer things in life. Something full-bodied and red."
"Like me!" grinned Karlach and winked.
Tav burst out into laughter and the tiefling was pleased with herself.
"Anyway, we must hurry to get the Staff of Authority back because it'll be auctioned off via the black market tonight," Gale brought the conversation back to the original topic. "So, here's the plan; Tav will wear her best red dress, heading towards the building. The security guard will be distracted by her beauty and, with a weaponized smile and wink, she'll get pass them. After walking down the hallway, she'll enter the buffet room and open a window, complaining about the stuffy air inside. While everyone will move to the auction hall, Astarion will squeeze through the window, cloaked in an invisibility spell, make his way backstage to the storage room, and boom; we'll get the Staff of Authority back."
"You know that won't work, right?" remarked Astarion, eyeing the wizard judgingly. "Nobody would let Tav in, not to mention that she doesn't own a single dress in the first place."
"Well, we could make it work," replied the wizard, miffed.
"Let me do it then. I look smashing in red," beamed Karlach, already planning her sneak attacks.
Tsking, the vampire spawn rolled his eyes, annoyed of all the bullshit.
"I hate to be the one to say it, but Astarion's right," chimed Tav in. "Neither you nor I are what men typically desire in a woman."
Karlach pouted, fussing with her braids.
"We could really use Shadowheart right now," said Wyll.
"Mhm, but she can't neglect her duties as a high priestess of Selûne. They're really busy at the temple at the moment because the Moon Festival's near," Tav replied, looking wistful.
"Hm... I have an idea," Gale announced.
He waved about his arms elegantly, reciting a magic spell, and right before his friends' eyes, he turned into a beautiful, shapely woman.
"Gods, you're gorgeous!" Astarion blurted out.
Immediately, Gale turned crimson.
"You think so?" he muttered with a warm, singsong-y, sultry voice.
"Fuck," Tav breathed, enraptured.
"Indeed, darling. 'Fuck'," the vampire spawn snickered, licking his lips.
"Can you two stop eying your lover like a dish on the dinner table?" Wyll asked, uncomfortable.
"Oh, we'll eat him right up, don't you worry," Astarion purred and Gale hid his heated face behind his hands in embarrassment.
Wyll was thankful that his skin colour concealed the blush which would have been visible all across his face and neck otherwise. Karlach laughed and pulled him against her chest.
"Gale does look hot though," she smirked.
"Hold that thought," Tav told Astarion who grinned, "but first we must complete our task."
Instead of squeezing through a window, they used an invisibility spell to sneak into the building. Gale didn't even have to enchant the guards, all he needed was a sultry blink of his big, brown eyes, a coy smile, and the plunging neckline of his deep blue dress. Stealing back the Staff of Authority was easy – especially when being accompanied by someone who had nimble fingers like Astarion. Within five minutes, they were in and out of the building, and when the black market merchants realised that the item was gone and chaos broke out, Tav and her friends were already halfway across the city.
"That was easier than expected," grinned the bard. " Ulder Ravengard will be pleased."
Wyll's father was delighted about their successful deed, thanking them profoundly in the name of the Baldur's Gate population. Tav wished they would have received coin instead of praise, but beggars can't be choosers.
"Thank you for helping to keep a decades-old tradition alive," Ulder beamed. "It would have been an absolute devastation to lose such an important and meaningful historical artefact."
"No problem. It's our job to help people in need," Tav lilted, hoping to remind the Grand Duke to finally pay them with actual money. "And it's wonderful to see Wyll and Karlach again. We hadn't found the time to meet up since they'd left Waterdeep two months ago. I'm dying to find out what they'd been up to."
"About that... There's something Karlach and I want to tell you," replied Wyll, clearing his throat. "Well... we've decided to extend the hunting lodge in the nearby forest that belongs to the Ravengard family. There, we want to raise our future children. Of course, guests are always welcome. And I'll take on the offered position as General of the City Guard."
Tav raised an eyebrow and asked: "You'll be a part of the Flaming Fists? The guys who made our lives harder when we fought the Absolute?"
"No, no," Wyll explained hastily. "The City Guard is a new faction. It was founded after we destroyed Gortash's Steel Watch. They're a separate group and have nothing to do with the Flaming Fists."
"Unfortunately, the latter aren't what they once were," sighed Ulder. "Back when I was a marshal, the Flaming Fists were in their prime."
Tav bit her tongue to keep herself from giving a cheeky reply. One look at Astarion revealed that he was doing the same.
"Finally!" the vampire spawn exclaimed, slamming the door of their rented room shut. "I thought Ravengard would never shut up! He didn't even pay us, that cutthroat!"
"Yeah, it's a bit disappointing," Tav agreed.
"An understatement. But... we can finally devour our wonderful wizard."
Astarion locked eyes with Gale, licking his lips hungrily, and the latter shuddered in anticipation. The wizard hadn't dropped his magic disguise yet, still presenting himself as a busty woman. Astarion stalked closer to him, truly looking like the predator he was.
"I want to devour you, darling," he purred, stroking Gale's cheek. "Take your dress off."
The addressed blushed, but snapped his fingers and was stark naked in an instant.
"You're beautiful this way, but I would miss that lovely cock of yours if you'd stay like this forever," the vampire spawn revealed.
The wizard cleared his throat, flustered.
"Well... I can change my uhm… 'appearance'. Down there."
"Hmm, Gods, yes." Astarion bit his lip and felt arousal shoot through him like lightning.
With a heated face, Gale mumbled a spell and his genitalia changed back to its original form. Both the vampire spawn and the human bard stared at him hungrily.
"Gods, darling, let me. Please," Astarion begged, almost whined, and before he got an answer, he was on his knees and swallowed Gale's member down. The latter gasped, one hand immediately flying to his lover's head and stroking his pointed ear. Astarion moaned around him and the wizard shuddered.
"You look so beautiful together," Tav remarked.
She moved closer, petting Astarion's hair with one hand while pulling Gale in with the other. They kissed tenderly, a sensual slide of their tongues. The wizard moaned lowly into her mouth.
"Astarion," he warned. The addressed hummed, rolling his balls in one hand. "Stop, please. I - I don't want it to end yet."
The vampire spawn drew back, panting and with his pupils blown wide. Gale gasped for air and desperately tried to gain control. Tav kissed his cheek and asked: "Everything alright?"
The wizard nodded, still slightly out of breath. A bit unsteady on his legs, Astarion got up. Tav reached for him and kissed him hungrily. When she finally let go of him, Gale gave him a peck too. They moved over to the bed, laying the wizard out like a feast. Tav started to kiss his collarbones, then, his breasts. Astarion nibbled on his neck. Gale trembled with pleasure, panting erratically. The few, low noises he made sounded foreign to his own ears. He wasn't used to the female voice that left his mouth.
The wizard still struggled to accept being at the receiving end of pleasure instead of giving it. Tav had realised his reluctance, how it had been hammered into him by Mystra to be the worshiper, and, since then, the bard showed him over and over again what it means to be worshiped for once. Gale was still slightly uncomfortable with it, but got better at enjoying it each time, no longer feeling so terribly guilty for taking instead of giving.
Now, it wasn't any different, and Gale let the pleasure wash over him guilt-free, panting and trembling under the gentle affection provided by Astarion and Tav.
"Beautiful," the vampire spawn whispered, petting the wizard's long, sweaty mane.
"Can I ride you?" the bard asked, looking desperate.
"Please do," whispered Gale and almost choked on a moan when his lover sunk down on him.
Tav was always so soft, wet, and hot around him. She felt amazing and wasn't afraid or ashamed to voice her desires. He loved it.
Astarion fondled Gale's big breasts, sucking on his nipples, and the wizard's hips bucked up with a gasp.
"That's it, darling. Show us how good you feel," the vampire spawn purred and kissed him sloppily.
Gale's breath hitched when he climaxed, trembling all over. Tav moaned loudly and shamelessly, grinding her hips down. It was too much and the wizard whimpered.
"Apologies, love," the bard panted and got off of him.
As always, she'd interpreted his body language correctly. Gale sighed a breath of relief. Tav crawled closer and started to blow Astarion who moaned against the wizard's lips.
"Slow down, darling."
The vampire spawn's plea fell on deaf ears and he mewled when Tav slipped a finger into his hole. Astarion's head fell back as he panted open-mouthed, exposing the long line of his neck. He lifted his right leg up over Tav's shoulder to give her better access. Gale littered the vampire spawn's neck with kisses, making him pant even harder. Suddenly, Astarion whined, digging his nails into Gale's shoulders.
"Yes! Right there, darling, right there! Aah!"
Tav hummed pleased and kept sucking him off while stroking his prostate. Astarion almost screamed when he came, covering Gale's soft stomach with his seeds. A bit roughly, he grabbed onto Tav and hauled her up to smash their mouths together.
"Gods..." Astarion felt dizzy.
Smiling at him, the bard caressed his cheek.
"Alright?" she asked.
The vampire spawn nodded, sighing contently when Tav kissed his forehead and Gale his temple. The latter finally dropped his polymorph spell, feeling incredibly drained and tired.
"I need sleep," mumbled Gale into Astarion's shoulder.
He curled up against the vampire spawn while Tav scooted closer to Astarion's other side. The latter smiled contently and sated.
"We must do this again," he remarked and his lovers hummed agreeingly.
Snuggled close together, they fell asleep.
Shout out to Fantasy High Junior Year to get me to post original thoughts on here for the first time on years - Thought after Episode 15, The Last Stand, spoilers ahead
Based on what happened with Buddy, Brennan's callout of "what was loaded into that crossbow?", and Brennan saying in AP that killing Buddy was always on the table this is what I think Kipperlilly Clerickiller's plan was (Also ty Fandom I will be using this forever now)
1. Snuck in with Buddy when the Last Stand was being set up. (Saw some people questioning how she managed to get in, I truly think it's as simple as this)
2. Steal both Buddy and Kristen's diamonds to ensure no reviving can occur
3. I think the plan was to shoot the proctor with rage crystals, causing him to hulk out and depending on timing, no one to stop more monsters from arriving.
4. Based on where she was standing, I think the goal was to blame the crossbow bolt on Buddy and then leave still undetected with Oisin's prepped plane shift
4a. I still think Buddy dying was always part of the plan but I think the goal was to get the Bad Kids to have to ruin their own situation (Having to kill the hulked out proctor, seeing Buddy as an enemy and targeting him, being stuck because if Kristen had used her 7th level slot then they would at minimum be stuck for 8 hours assuming they all managed to survive if the monsters were still coming)
5. Theory here and we'll see if it proves correct but my immediate thought when Buddy died was that KLCK is planeshifting to the Celestial plane and hoping to use Buddy to sneak into Sol's office like when Aguefort snuck in through Kristin's backpack
6. Once in Sol's office, she would be where YES! Was originally created and the reason Bakur supposedly failed his ritual is that he needed to be in a place where a god had been created in order to rez a God.
7. Chaos ensues when corrupted Ankarna is brought back
8. Profit??? I guess??? Tbh the exact reasoning of the Ratgrinders is still the most elusive thing to me. I think my current most likely thought is that Jace is serving as manipulator and that KLCK is the most "lost in the sauce" as it were what with her pre-established anger issues.
Since we only saw a hand I'm reserving judgement on Oisin as he may have only been aware of his part of the plan and not the rest of what Miss ClericKiller has been up to. Not attached so I'm also down for him to be full evil but I'm just not sure yet.
Another thought I had is that the Ratgrinders may yet mirror the Bad Kids not just in class, but also in personal problems.
Ruben and Fig both having identity crises but Ruben has isolated himself so much he's turned to being a lackey
MaryAnn just doing what she's doing because she's good at it, not because it's something she's passionate about
If Oisin's dragon relative is evil and he's going along with the plot because of that, that would mirror Adaine breaking away from her own evil parents
Don't know enough about Ivy to have thoughts on her really, buddy and Lucy could probably be their own post tbh, and as I can't get a lock on Kipperlilly.
Jawbone seemed convinced she was just misunderstood and jawbone usually has a pretty good read on people. But then she's smiling while murdering Buddy and teleporting away. Why does she hate Riz specifically? Is it something he did or is it more generic jealousy (or a crush but I don't care for that theory personally and doesn't feel super supported currently)?
What's the deal with the rage soil and how did they place a rune of Ankarna's name on Yolanda/Lucy if it was unknown at that point?
Anyway, feel free to reblog or tag with thoughts, I'm so excited to unravel more of this mystery.
This isn't really new, but it's actually really interesting to me what a sticking point the 'enemy of the cultivation world' line is for people who have a less favorable interpretation of Jiang Cheng's character.
When I first read the novel, it honestly just seemed obvious to me that it was part of The Plan with their staged falling out/defection from the Yunmeng Jiang clan. Whether it was a good or likely to succeed long-term plan or not is up for debate, but considering that we know the entire duel and 'falling out' was staged, I thought it was a given that was just part of it.
So I was actually pretty surprised to see so many people adamant that even if the duel was staged, that statement was a specific lie/betrayal on Jiang Cheng's part. Because of the duel/defection situation being generally light on description in the novel, there's not enough detail to say conclusively and definitely either way.
The first time we hear about the 'enemy of the cultivation world' declaration is actually in the prologue, where some dude is telling the "citation needed" summary version of the Yiling Patriarch's life story (7S version):
"[...] The former Jiang sect leader raised him like his own son, eh? But look at him: publicly defecting from the clan, making himself an enemy of the world. He’s embarrassed the Jiang Clan of Yunmeng utterly and almost doomed them to the same fate of extermination. [...]"
Of course it's not until the end of ch. 73 that we really know the circumstances of this defection. Where the duel is described the style of narration shifts noticeably to that very detached, third-party narration, the tone shift that indicates throughout the novel that this is the story the public believes.
The ExR translation phrases it this way:
They fought quite a fight in Yiling. Negotiations failed. Both resorted to violence.
Under Wei WuXian's command, the fierce corpse Wen Ning struck Jiang Cheng once, breaking one of his arms. Jiang Cheng stabbed Wei WuXian once. Both sides suffered losses. Each spat out a mouthful of blood and left cursing the other. They had finally fallen out with each other.
After the fight, Jiang Cheng told the outside that Wei WuXian defected from the sect and was an enemy to the entire cultivation world. The YunmengJiang Sect had already cast him out. From then on, no ties remained between them—a clear line was drawn. Henceforth, no matter what he did, they'd have nothing to do with the YunmengJiang Sect!
The official translation from 7S makes it even clearer that this is the 'what the public is meant to believe' type of thing by formatting it this way (including the italics):
Following the duel, Jiang Cheng made this public statement: "Wei Wuxian has defected from our clan and become a public enemy. The Jiang Clan of Yunmeng expelled him and has broken all ties with him, drawing a clear line between his deeds and our own. No matter what this man does going forward, his actions have nothing to do with the Jiang Clan of Yunmeng!"
Whether it's a verbatim quote or not doesn't particularly matter for my interpretation (I don't particularly doubt the statement itself happened), but I would be interested in how it's presented originally; unfortunately I can't read it, so as always there's the 'going off translations' caveat here.
Immediately in the next chapter we see the aftermath of the duel and Wei Wuxian's nonchalant attitude to it, and then later in ch. 75, when Jiang Cheng brings Jiang Yanli to visit Yiling and show off her wedding robes and she reveals he suggested she have Wei Wuxian pick her son's courtesy name.
That's where we really realize just how staged it was (bolding mine):
Jiang Cheng raised up his bowl, "To the YiLing Patriarch."
Hearing this, Wei WuXian remembered the proudly fluttering banner again. All that was in his head was the ten golden words ''all hail the supreme Lord of Evil Patriarch of YiLing', "Shut up!"
After he drank a mouthful, Jiang Cheng spoke, "How's your wound from last time?"
Wei WuXian, "It healed a long time ago."
Jiang Cheng, "Mn." With a pause, he continued, "How many days?"
Wei WuXian, "Less than seven. I told you before. With Wen Qing, it was nothing difficult. But you really did fucking stab me."
Jiang Cheng ate a piece of lotus root, "You were the one who smashed my arm first. You took seven days, while I had to hang my arm up for an entire month."
Wei WuXian grinned, "How could it seem realistic if it wasn't hard enough? It was your left hand anyways. It didn't hinder you from writing. It takes a hundred days to heal a wound to the bone. It wouldn't be too much even if you hung it up for three months."
[...]
Before they parted, Jiang Cheng spoke, "We won't see you off. It wouldn't be good if someone saw us."
Wei WuXian nodded. He understood that it wasn't easy for the Jiang siblings to have come out here. If someone else saw them, all those things they did for the public to believe would be wasted. He spoke, "We'll go first."
We don't actually know, exactly, to the letter, what the plan was. Everything after Wei Wuxian says they could cut ties to protect the Jiang sect and Jiang Cheng saying they should have a duel is very light on the actual details.
Even with that wiggle room, I just don't buy the interpretation that the 'enemy of the cultivation world'/'public enemy' line was some extra betrayal behind Wei Wuxian's back, totally unknown to him, some sort of sneaky move meant to simply make everyone hate him even more for no reason.
They were clearly concerned with the possibility that nobody would truly believe that they'd actually fallen out, and felt they needed to go to fairly extreme lengths to sell this story to the public. While there were definitely some hurt feelings (on both sides) at this point, there was definitely still some hope that things would work out in the end, somehow.
I think this part of the novel works better with them both clinging to a thread of tenuous hope, a desperate last-ditch effort to somehow figure out a way to keep both the Yunmeng Jiang sect and the Wens safe because neither one of them can back down but neither can really let go yet.
If anything I'd say it would be a bit weird to take the public statement made after an event we know is staged to deceive the public... and assuming that for some reason, that specific line of it should just be taken at face value.
As with many aspects of the novel, the public story and what actually happened are just not the same thing.
grishaverse characters playing monopoly
it's a little unnerving that out of seven posts, this is my second one about monopoly- i DONT EVEN PLAY THE GAME
• jesper tried to stack the deck before hand but he gravely miscalculated
• kaz always wins and makes immensely complicated deals and plans
• he would play very fair in monopoly
• ends up owning the whole board
• if inej lands on his property he wouldn't tax her as much as he would the others
• him and inej combine their empires
• jesper would buy out stuff all the stuff he could as quickly as he could
• jesper has the worst luck with dice
• if he couldn't buy something he would borrow money from kaz
• he would always throw a fit about going to jail
• and try to break out
• "i'm a criminal it's what i do"
• he'd try to make a deal with kaz, it would never work out in his favor
• wylan has to keep bailing jesper out of jail
• everyone wanted inej to be the banker
• but it's always kaz
• originally people thought it might be good to have matthias becuase he's really good-- morally--
• but he doesn't know how the game works by counting money
• so it's always been kaz
• which jesper thinks is so unfair
• wylans cards are always really good
• jesper reading wylans cards for him
• he gets really surprised and jealous when wylan gets a good card but not immediately saying what it is
• "what is it what is it???" leaving everyone in suspense
• nina convinces matthias to sell her a get out of jail free card for a ridiculously small price
• matthias, unsure of the exact rules of the game, just does it anyway
• when people say that's against the rules, matthias blames nina
• nina keeps saying that he's her boyfriend and to not turn him against her
• matthias would never turn against nina though, no matter what
• they're practically on a team at this point
• while everyone's arguing about the expensive properties, inej silently collects like 3 monopolies
• and then when people land on it they have to pay more
• they're all questioning what just happened because wasn't the price just normal a few turns ago?
• nina would try to flirt her way into getting better deals on properties
• it would work on inej, jesper, and matthias
• (matthias would get so flustered when this happened, turning bright red)
• with kaz this tactic fails all the time
• she's really upset that it won't work
• whenever jesper gets a monopoly he always yells monopoly like it's uno
• jesper would try to get a ton of properties, wouldn't really mind putting castles and cottages on them
• wylan would focus on his one or two monopolies, putting a bunch of castles and cottages on them
• kaz would do both
• don't ask me how- he just would
• jesper, nina, kuwei, and kaz would always get into a fight at the start
• it would be over who should be the favorite icon piece
• because they all love this one piece
• and it's almost always kaz who gets it
• once in a while he gives it to jesper though, because he likes seeing him happy
• matthias always needs nina to explain to him how to play
• he keeps getting confused and needs her to refresh him every time
• nina doesn't exactly explain it "to the rules",
• saying things like "oh and you can help me by doing whatever if i'm in trouble"
• matthias would only buy properties that he believes were ethical
• which means he would lose first
• kaz on the other hand, wins every time
• wylan is actually surprisingly a close second to kaz
• no one knows how that's happening
• "is jesper cheating for you?"
• but it's all because they keep underestimating wylan
• wylan stays a couple paces ahead of kuwei
• and deliberately buys up properties that he thinks kuwei will like
• just so that kuwei won't be able to buy them
• moving on to the others.....
• zoya is ridiculously competitive
• tolya is always the banker because he's "the most responsible out of them all"
• it was usually nikolai
• until he started playing around a little too much
• tamar will try to bribe tolya into giving her more money than is allowed
• tolya won't fly with it
• david is more focused on his own game
• not worried about anyone else's
• in fact, he didn't even really want to play this
• but genya and nikolai and pressured him into it, pleading with him
• genya has an incredible poker face and no one can see what she's up to
• zoyas pride is too extreme to play this game, she can't stand to lose to anyone
• therefore is really upset when it happens
• nikolai gets all excited when he wins
• he's like a golden retriever and it takes him a few hours to drop his excitement
WOW this was long. if you made it to the end then thank you and i apologize 💀
honestly, Amity's hair color is the perfect metaphor for her character. She's still hiding her true colors, she's just trying to match Luz instead of Odalia.
So even at the time, when I was still deep in the paint of TOH, I had a major problem with it as far as the themes, metaphors and just designs of TOH went. Put both Amity and Luz at that time into their Hexside uniforms. Then silhouette them so you have no colors. Now try to tell me which is which.
It was a genuine problem for me during that time period where I'd see sketch fanart of Lumity and have to look for Amity's ears because otherwise the two are indistinguishable from each other. Like yes, it's a MUCH more boring hairstyle and I'm with others that there's just way too much purple in the show so Amity's green hair helped her actually stand out but this really was a big problem and got worse as I got more critical of Lumity. After all, this moment of making sure she has her own identity, stands out from others and will decide her own fate... And she looks the fucking same as another character now, blending in more easily with them. Then she just goes on to slowly have the rest of her personality and life (which were already doing this, thank you "your grades are slipping" from Escaping Expulsion for that one) consumed by her role of girlfriend.
It makes what should be such a character defining moment anything but that. Hell, it isn't even a complete schism from her family's desires and wishes. She still goes on to effectively helm Blight Industries after all, or so I presume unless she started her own competing abominations factory which still doesn't fix that that's STILL what Odalia would have wanted had Amity failed to get into the EC. It's still living in the shadow of her father's legacy and following in his own footsteps.
It's actually the one major cue from Hunter that Amity takes for her arc which really doesn't help the two feel like they aren't the same character. At least with Hunter, we only have one action that's confirmed as being the same as those he's supposed to be rejecting so as to find his own personhood: Rejecting Belos. There's a lot more we can claim but that's the only one 100% confirmed.
Amity though? Her future includes dedicating herself to a potentially unhealthy degree to her partner while also commercializing her magic into mech-infused abominations. Even if Lumity is healthy post the series, nothing about Amity's behavior doesn't imply she'd drop everything for Luz at a moment's notice and Alador gave the same impression. So... She just became her dad? Why?
Then again, when you are a show that seems to actually struggle to write a diverse cast of characters (I mean personality wise, not ethnicity), this is going to happen. Dana is a good enough artist though that the silhouette problem shouldn't have happened. That should have been caught and stopped immediately, not when it's so antithetical to the point of the moment. I guess you could say it's to show she still needs to make another step to becoming her own person but that never really happens, does it? And we explicitly know they didn't have proper plans for it to happen.
So yeah, it really is just perfect for who Amity became, even right down to being a worse design to go alongside girlfriend Amity being such a worse character.
After watching Good Omens 2, I have a bit of an out-of-the-box theory as to a plot twist that might be coming in s3: Crowley used to be Lucifer and had his pre-fall memory removed.
My evidence:
Crowley was the one who tempted Eve to eat the apple. According to the Bible, this was Lucifer's doing.
I'm pretty sure Crowley is the only entity who we know is able to stop time.
Adam is described as being "human incarnate"… But he was SUPPOSED to be Hell incarnate… what changed? Crowley. Crowley "went native" and so did his son.
[The more compelling pieces of info are from s2 and they are under the "keep reading". I spent a LOT of time on this so please give it a chance.]
Both Saraqael (the new archangel) and Furfur (the demon who made the Nazis zombies) immediately recognized Crowley, but he had no memory of either of them. It seems odd to include both of these instances within 6eps, especially considering the fact that other lines were removed for not being plot-relevant.
The convo with Saraqael: Throughout the conversation, Crowley has his smiling facade, but looks clueless (even surprised she knows him by name), and Muriel looks smug. "Hello Crowley. I didn't expect to ever see each other again." "Do we know each other?" "When you were an angel. We worked together on the Horsehead Nebula." "I meet a lot of people..." She then smirks and immediately changes the topic.
The convo with Furfur: "We have [met], haven't we?" "Have we?" Furfur looks incredulous that Crowley didn't recognize him on sight. "What do you mean 'have we'- you know we have. We were in the same legion... just before the fall...? Doing dubious battle on the plains of Heaven...? Remember?!?" "... Well, I remember going into battle, I don't remember being there with you- sorry." "Wha-? I was right next to you!!! We did loads together!!! You used to jump on my back like a monkey in a waistcoat!!!"
Crowley did not remember a very high-ranking person he collaborated with (on a project he was very passionate about). He also did not recognize someone he was very chummy with, even when he was reminded of specific events, even though Furfur had immediately recognized Crowley by name all these years later.
Crowley was able to open the confidential file on Gabriel. And when he did it, he looked like he was trying to open them... no sarcastic remark beforehand, no bragging about his previous position... just Crowley trying to open it. (As if he doesn't remember his rank.)
Crowley tells Aziraphale "I am NOT the angel you met"... I believe he meant this in the sense that he's truly not the same entity... he's not operating on the same memories that angel!Crowley was, and he isn't going to remember his experiences he had with Aziraphale as an angel,
The miracle that Aziraphale and Crowley did together (masking Gabriel) was described as an archangel-level miracle, enough to raise someone from the dead 25 times over. Now, maybe this was because A&C were working together.... however, they were under the assumption that this would make them less conspicuous.
In the instance of Gabriel being removed from the position of supreme-archangel, his memory was erased. He assumed he would be sent to Hell, and seemed to already have a plan for his memory to be erased- he immediately requested a box, Beelzebub had already gifted him the perfect place to hide his memory, and Gabriel had quickly carried everything out before anyone else was even suspicious. Almost like this had happened before and he knew what to expect. (And according to the Metatron, there was only ever one other "Prince of Heaven" who was removed and cast down to Hell.)
Now, the the Metatron was going to erase Gabriel's memory "as a kindness"... So what was the reasoning for erasing Lucifer's memory? Control. My guess is that Lucifer somehow messed up God's original plan... Just like how Crowley was the reason Armageddon failed (I acknowledge there were many reasons why Armageddon failed, but Crowley was the instigator and Crowley was the one who stopped time to prepare Adam.)
It makes sense that if someone upended your system, it would seem like a safe bet to erase their memories and stick them in a fairly low-level position, where they are barely able to interact with any powerful entities.
Who would now be in charge of Hell and why? My guess is that there's some demonic equivalent of the Metatron, and they are given power over Hell in exchange for pretending like there's still a Satan.
Then what was the Satanic monstrosity in s1e6?? idk man, i just go here. Maybe a paid actor or something. But Adam defeated it by saying "YOU'RE NOT MY DAD! You never were." and then it just... vanished??? into smoke???? That never made sense to me... like did fucking Satan just... die??? (Do not ask me what really happened or how Crowley didn't know he had a son.)
Okay now the big question: WHY????
We all know that Aziraphale still has a lot of unlearning to do when it comes to his ideology of "Heaven/angels= good, Hell/demons= bad". Because, SURE, there's been exceptions to this rule, and Aziraphale has come to understand that human morality is somewhat nuanced.
And sure, there's some "bad apple" angels like Gabriel, who just don't understand God's will. but he still believes that God is unequivocally good and Heaven will be too, as long as it's under good management.
Right now, Aziraphale views Crowley as some kind of exception, an anomaly. In Aziraphale's mind, Crowley should be an angel- there really must've been some mistake that he's supposed to be a demon.
And Aziraphale has believed this for MILLIONS OF YEARS. Since the beginning of existence, Aziraphale has been brainwashed. And I think the only thing that will break it is being presented with irrefutable proof that Crowley is Lucifer and having to figure out which one is false:
Crowley is not evil.
Lucifer is evil.
Crowley is Lucifer.
I think first, Aziraphale will disbelieve #3. He will refuse to believe Crowley is Lucifer until it's undeniably true.
Then, I think he will instinctually disbelieve #1. He will believe Crowley was lying, tempting him, tricking him all along.... until he is confronted by every undeniably nice thing that Crowley has ever done for him.
Then... #2 is the only one left. It must be wrong. Hell must not be inherently evil. Which means Heaven must not be inherently good. Which means everything has been a lie. It means Heaven and Hell are 2 sides of the same coin. It means a full dismantling of the system.
It means a full episode will be dedicated to a 50minute "I was wrong, you were right" dance.
I certainly believe this all lines up with Neil's description of s3 to be "Bigger, Louder, Final."
@sigilmint oh friend this comment made me so 😍
Short version: As far as in-game actions, really all you need to do is initiate his romance, betray the grove, roll to convince him to stay in the party, then continue his romance, roleplaying the situation however you want from there.
Long Version beneath the cut—this has a lot more to do with how my own out-of-game decisionmaking got me here, and how I interpret the macro-arc of my party/character.
My first bg3 campaign is a co-op game where we are mostly trying to do Good Route Things. Gale has been stuck in camp permanently because I was dead set on playing a wizard myself.
So I started my solo campaign with the vague notion of doing a Full On Evil Run. My character, Vuei, is a disillusioned and broken oathbreaker paladin. I was planning to romance Minthara because if she's only available in the evil route, might as well go all the way.
But I recruited Gale and immediately had a category 5 "Ohhh I can't not fuck him" moment.
Now, at the time I thought that betraying the grove would straight-up lock you out of his romance. Tbh I'm not sure why I thought this? But somehow that was the impression I'd gotten, so, I promptly jettisoned all my Evil Plans in favor under Get Under Gale's Robe ASAP.
I got all the way into Act 2 like this. Defeated and looted the whole goblin camp, made it to Last Light, all that.
Then one night I wanted to play but I was feeling too mentally wiped to make real progress and real decisions, so instead I loaded a save from right before saving the grove. I figured I would see what it was like, get to hear some Minthara dialogue, that would be that.
Instead I got one of the most immersive emotional rollercoasters a video game has ever given me.
I failed some rolls to deceive Minthara and started spinning a narrative where Vuei, who has recently lost everything and everyone they thought they valued, just... panics. Doesn't see a way out other than bending to Minthara's demands. Goes reflexively numb and nihilistic because apparently this is just the way the world works.
From there, the entire sequence from the combat itself, to Karlach (who was in my party) leaving me, to the reactions of various people at the party... it was just Moment after Heartwrenching Moment. I'm leaving some details out here because they really deserve to be experienced first-hand but at the end I was like. Staring at my ceiling processing all the implications for the characters.
Gale specifically delivers one of the Verbal Smackdowns of All Time to you afterward. You have to persuade him to stay.
But he does stay.
This was the point when I started getting the feeling that maybe his romance flag was still active? And the implications of THAT... my mind just ran wild with them. Who was this guy who would bitterly, righteously tell you that you're making him worse, then give you a second chance, secretly thinking maybe he's Not Actually So Different, then fall in love—ACTUAL love, not just 'I don't deserve better' resignation—with you despite it all?
I never reloaded my original save.
The game doesn't actually let you have any additional decompress-and-discuss dialogue after persuading him to stay, but in my imagination what I filled in was: a really painful heart to heart where Gale and Vuei agree Never Again. Where they are both at a loss as to how they can even go on from this. But they have to. So they will. At least they know the other feels just as guilty and ashamed as themself, and that counts for something.
It also made me think, why the pure black and white Evil Run/Good Run dichotomy? I really, REALLY latched on to the story structure of a party that makes One Huge Ruinous Fuckup at the very beginning that colors all their further attempts to Do Better, and that's how I RP'd going into act 2.
For instance: we couldn't rescue the tieflings but maybe we can extend the same grace to Minthara that we hope might be extended to ourselves.
In terms of game mechanics I actually took quite a hit here. Karlach took a bunch of great gear with her when she left (this may not happen in the current patch? unsure) and I decided my characters would not have it in them to go back to the goblin camp just to completionistly gobble up loot.
It felt like penance. The very beginning of the tangible consequences of the thing my character will regret most, for the rest of her life.
I felt closer to my remaining companions. Bound by atrocity. The last ones standing. By the gods it shouldn't have happened this way but after that we will NEVER doubt that we have each other's backs. I put Astarion in my party for the first time ever and this is when I began warming up to him as a character. Eventually when Shadowheart killed the Nightsong, it was like Vuei (and Gale) deeply disapproved but couldn't bear to cast judgement. The only thing to do is be there for her and hope she does better next time. We are all just hoping we'll do better next time.
The morning after our lowest point, we trudged resignedly to Rosymorn monastery. The stark, sublime grandeur of the landscape was a slap in the face. It was wrong that such beauty could still exist as though the world was indifferent to what we'd just done. It was wrong that we could literally climb above the ruins we made and in the distance they're just... another part of a breathtaking view. But here we are, standing on this cliff, somehow still able to feel wonder.
The new dawn imagery was both a lash and balm.
We carry on. We find a way.
OH ALSO I gave Gale Volo's eye and continued making Alterations to him as things progressed. Being vague because that's quite a bit further in but yeah, Gale Undergoing Changes is another big part of my vision here. It's All Connected.
Do you think any of the sb era characters who ever show up in the fallout au? Like Vanessa, Gregory, and Cassie? I feel like GR Freddy as some sort of mech suit Gregory walks around in would be sorta cool
Oh do I!! Settle in because this is going to be a very very long one
(New Jerusalem and the mormons of Vault 70 are a thing in fallout lore and like the only thing confirmed to be in Utah. Because of that amusing it for my AU lore. Though by the time of Jeremy All of the vault 70 mormons are basically dead or scattered and New jerusalem is in ruins. And yes I know it's from a canceled game and not technically cannon but it's all I've got on Utah okay???)
Vanessa was the illegitimate child of raiders who after their group disbanded abandoned her As a young adult. She spent a couple years in the wasteland until wandering upon the remnants of The Freddy fazbears Pizza Emporium. You see a couple of the less fanatic mormons from vault 70 Stole one of the geck's from the settlement of New Jerusalem as it was collapsing due to infighting. Over the years thanks to the geck Freddy fasbury's was A Great and thriving settlement! Vanessa was able to get a job working as security for some of the higher-ups in the settlement. After a while though She's offered 300 cap to go investigate a abandoned vault... Williams vault... When she gets there she finds the place still stalked with like lots of food, Medical supplies and science junk. She also finds Williams burned dead body, But most importantly next to that body she finds a completely intact computer Of course intrigue she immediately turns the thing on. Then out of nowhere a mask gets shoved on her face. You see this thing was Williams first plan To survive radiation before thinking of putting himself in a suit He had Uploaded a copy of his brain onto the machine which Vanessa had just turned on. Specifically His mind was in the mask that was now attached to Vanessa's face. Of course upon realizing he now inhabited a human body William immediately started freaking out fearing the radiation would consume him, Once he calmed it down he realized something:
Old flesh and blood William had failed, So now it was his duty to shove everyone in the waistland into Suits and Also control those suits to kill all of the violent people were still up on the surface! Vanessa didn't agree with this plan but Since William was now in control of her brain She was forced to do what he said. So once they got back to her settlement Vanessa began to tamper with the old world tech that the people of the settlement hadn't had the know how to mess with, Making new suits and Automatons. And then specifically Luring children into the Suits..
Gregory was one of the kids Vanessa tried to do this too. He lived on the streets in hurricane and often visited the Pizza Emporium To pick pocket and play with the still functioning kid friendly stuff in the Emporium. Being a street boy he was one of Vanessa's first targets until William realized that he wasn't nearly as tainted by radiation as everyone else there. Because Gregory was originally from a vault.... He doesn't exactly remember which one all he knows is his Vault was very far away and it got rated and he was taken away when he was very small. Realizing how important Gregory William immediately tried to take him over impartially succeeded before Gregory escaped using one of the suits it was Glamrock Freddy, Who had been repurposed from one of the old animatronics from the Emporium. Freddy's ai was still functioning so Gregory had just stolen himself a new friend :). The 2 roamed the wasteland for a bit together fighting off the atomatons that kept on coming after them, Until one of them seriously harmed Freddie and Gregory decided to go back to the Emporium to fix him and defeat William.
And so then he does so and frees Vanessa and the 2 of them Join up together and The gack in The Emporium kind of exploded and released radiation everywhere and like completely destroyed the settlement... So the 3 star fam do some serious wandering Looking for any other automatons or anyone trying to continue William's work.
As for Cassie... Her dad was a member of a small contact team stationed at the pizza imporrium By the NCR who had just started to make contact with Utah. (You see due to the automatons and prevalence of like old world technology Produced by Afton robotics and fazbear entertainment the people of Utah are both incredibly good with tech and also very good at violence. Making it a good place for the NCR to like in velvet)
She lived there happily with her dad for a long time and be friended Gregory, Then you know Her dad mysteriously disappeared and she was sent to live in the greater NCR outpost stationed in hurricane. Then she got a message that Gregory her old friend needed her help and she went back to the Emporium and a fallout version of ruin happened. I haven't really figured out what happens after that yet....
Sorry this is so so long :)
One of my favorite things about Eren is that he actually went on and asked his older brother, who he’s not close to, for girl advice. Also this wasn’t 15 year old impulsive Eren, he was 19 (!). And in the middle of a war and discussing a genocidal plan. And in true Eren fashion, he tries to disguise his intentions and keep cool and collected, while Zeke immediately sees through his act and just tells him Mikasa likes him. The concept of Eren being so desperate for Mikasa that he actually turns to Zeke out of all people to ask for dating advice never fails to send me. Can you just imagine how this scene plays out in a modern au?
Eren is such a dork. I can just see him bringing up Mikasa constantly while they're plotting because he's got her permanently on the brain. Zeke's like, "We're going to need to fight our way out in this contingency," and Eren is like, "Mikasa Ackerman is soooo good at fighting. That wouldn't even be a problem for her."
In a modern au, I think we're looking at Grisha being originally from Germany and moving to the US for his work (and let's say this is the cause of his divorce from Dina), so Zeke is in Germany and Eren hasn't had much of a chance to get to know him. However, Zeke very much wants the chance to be the big brother he always dreamed he could be. When Eren drops out of college to mope around at home in his childhood bedroom, Carla and Grisha decide to send him off to see his older brother and see if a change of scenery will help get him out of his slump.
Eren's trying to act like a cool tough guy but he is, in fact, just exposing himself as a down bad loser who can't get over his best friend who, when he tried to get her to confess her feelings before he left on his trip, froze and said he was family because she didn't know what he was after.
Zeke, luckily, eats it up. Big brothers help with girl problems and so that is what he will do! And, it's clear from Eren's endless ramblings that she likes him, too!
I could totally see Zeke stealing Eren's phone and texting Mikasa for him in secret. Like, he grabs it while Eren is in the shower and really quickly sends off, "I miss you so much. I wish you were here. I would take you on a hiking date," then just doesn't tell Eren about it so when Mikasa texts back, "I miss you, too. When are you coming home? We can go for a hike together here..." Eren sees her message, sees the message from himself that he does not remember sending, and starts to wonder if he's going crazy. But, like, Mikasa seems down for a hiking date, so........ is there really an issue?
Meanwhile, Zeke is sitting there, schemer that he is, tapping his fingers together and smiling smugly to himself because it's all coming together and if he plays his cards right maybe he can be Eren's best man at their wedding (he can't. The honor goes to Armin. Zeke doesn't even get invited except as an afterthought because Eren is happy to go on pretending he's an only child.)
With the DSMP Blade System AU, I'm more vibing than I am coming up with a coherent story. But if I did have to come up with a story that I wrote out, I'd probably end it on an emotional triumph instead of a one based in combat.
So the Egg gets beaten. In the process, c!Dream would find out that he is part of the shattered Aegis and that XD is looking to put his original Aegis Blade back together. He would also find out that c!Philza is an Aegis Blade.
So he'd turn over a copy of the code that he and c!Punz worked on, to make the Memory Patch something that goes out in a general Universal Patch. And Phil would mention that just one Aegis can't make changes to what is/will be in the Universal Patch (for security reasons) and that they'll need to contact another Aegis.
What Phil trying to say: "This is great, I'll look over it. We can't do it immediately but I'll reach out to my Goddess and we will see if we can get other gods and their Aegis on board."
What Dream hears: "This Plan is fucked unless you, personally, find another Aegis on this server."
And Dream doesn't know another Aegis. But he knows that he used to be one. And he knows from the Revival Book that Aegis!Dream was attempting to create the Universal Memory Patch himself. So, theoretically, if he lets DreamXD bring Aegis!Dream back, then their problems are solved.
Dream doesn't want to die. But he's picked up that he has several similarities with Aegis!Dream. It wouldn't be a real death, would it? No more a real death than any other Blade goes through, when they revert to their core crystal without the Memory Patch. One Blade to save every other Blade, and if he makes it a condition of giving himself over, Aegis!Dream would probably be much better at working out Phase 2 of The Plan than he and Punz ever could alone.
Normally Dream wouldn't bother to leave a note. But this is the last impact he is going to have and he can be assured that c!Techno will remember him. So he does. And Techno comes down the next day and finds a letter that isn't outright saying anything but basically reads like a suicide note and that's... a Problem.
So he rounds up the people he thinks can talk Dream out of this--the syndicate plus Punz and Sapnap, basically--and they go try and stop Dream. Who has almost a full day's head start. And there's only one place where DreamXD is absolutely going to show up--the End Portal. So now it's a manhunt, using their combined knowledge, plus Phil's ability to sense aether, plus Techno's passive to try and track him down.
In a sense, they fail. They almost catch him, but Dream is 15 minutes ahead of them when he activates the portal.
DreamXD is just chilling when Drista brings Dream to him. Dream offers him his whole goal. To let DreamXD take his core crystal, to fuse it with the other pieces he's collected to resurrect his Aegis Blade.
But DreamXD isn't sure that he wants that anymore. He's been speaking with c!George, making friends with George, bonding over how it felt to have a Blade that you loved and then lost. George, who was dreaming at that very moment, astral projecting himself into the End, this time, instead of DreamXD going to him. George who has watched this entire conversation, even though Dream can't see him, and will lose his Blade, again, if DreamXD regains his.
Drista is watching too. She's been acting as his Blade for over 100 years at this point. Drista, who brought Dream to DreamXD without saying a word, serious and still like she never is. Drista, with whom the emotional bleed of the Resonance is tomb-silent and resigned.
"No." DreamXD decides.
At this point, the manhunt team come crashing into the End, all "Dream you idiot, you're not allowed to sacrifice yourself again!" and "Alright XD, you wanna do this? Then we're gonna fight!" And it turns into a very chaotic mess as Niki and Ranboo attempt to retrieve Dream out of the line of fire, Techno, Sapnap, and Punz go all in on the fight-XD bit, and Phil sidles over to Drista to head that bit off.
Final resolution would be that they all sit down and get the situation explained. Phil mentions that he forwarded the code to the Blood God's Aegis, and she is willing to help. Dream gets cornered with the fact that people love him and care about him and they're a little mad about past lies but that's not enough to make them leave. DreamXD gets a chance to confront what he lost and start the process of healing, finally. He teleports them all home, to the Antarctic Anarchist Compound, and then wakes George up and teleports him and Purpled to the group.
And like, there's still stuff that they all need to talk about. Reconciliations need to occur. Relationships that need to be sorted out. George and Dream absolutely need to have a shouting match about what they mean to each other and not be allowed to run away from it until they've both said everything and they've both said the truth. Punz is also going to make them crack open the ugly truths of how Dream made Sapnap feel, but also how Sapnap made Dream feel.
Dream and Punz need to get sat down to explain what all they've been doing/working on. If you think that DTeam + Syndicate won't shut down the Plan Phase 2, you're wrong.
When c!Bad and c!Skeppy finish recovering from the Egg, I think Dream and Punz will work with them, Techno, and Philza, to see if they can make it so that Blades can have an independent existence/be Awake without their Drivers (like in YWKON's finale), and still have a Resonance if they want one.
Life keeps going, with it's ups and downs. But this would be a sweet, happy note to end on.
