day 4 of 365 of ej’s deeply self-indulgent headcanons now that the fandom is p dead:
delphine’s trademark thing is overthinking. she has a whole laundry list of mental illnesses (both stemming from her childhood and also the trauma of the entirety of ob) but the reason they all affect her so much is the overthinking.
shay has similar things. she’s years ahead in her recovery, as she started therapy the instant she was discharged from the military.
they bond over delphine feeling like she’s totally alone in her survivor’s guilt and that she’s the only person who felt like this and shay being like “hey no, that’s really common here’s some ways to deal with it”

I’ve read a lot of fic over the years. Probably way too much. And I have many favorites across several fandoms. But for this list, I’ll focus on the stories I’ve read and re-read often because they resonated with me on some level. So without further ado, and in no particular order:
Orphan Black
Rewind, Repair, Replay by @morningmightcomebyaccident – After five years, this is still my favorite canon Cophine fic (though I guess now it’s canon-divergent?). This has the type of communication between Delphine and Cosima that I wish we had gotten on the show. (P.S. This is also the fic that made me start stalking grey lol)
Village Secrets by @haughtbreaker – The first Cophine fic I ever read, and one of the sweetest AUs ever: ice skater Delphine and snow boarder Cosima meeting and falling in love in an Olympic village. This is one of my go-to stories whenever I need cheering up because it always makes me smile.
except in this form in which I am not nor you by @morningmightcomebyaccident - Also by grey and this story has a special place in my heart because it managed to do the impossible: make me ship Delphine with Shay. Yes you read that right. Shayphine. Their friendship is so genuine and addicting in this story that several other diehard Cophine fans have also begun rooting for this AU’s pairing. It’s also an amazing Delphine character study and explores the ins and outs of the DYAD and Topside.
Wynonna Earp
In Fate’s Hands by @skillzyo and @iamthegaysmurf. This is hands down my favorite Wayhaught AU. It’s got everything I could want: terrific characterizations, smooth writing, solid pacing, and a wary strangers-to-friends-to-lovers slow burn done just right. The fantasy setting is icing on the cake.
The 100
maybe they will sing for us tomorrow by @dontholdthiswarinside. A Clexa reincarnation fix-it fic. Very adorable!
But still good by @badlance. A soccer coach Lexa AU that I didn’t know I needed after 3x07. I’m not doing it justice, but it is so so sweet.
Legend of Korra
Republic City Blues by @beech27. Very unique Korrasami Noir AU. I pretty much died waiting for each update.
Person of Interest
connective tissue by @brightly-brightly. The writing in this Shoot fic blows me away ever single time.
Skins
Coin Laundry by goldflecks/LuvActually. Amazing Naomily AU. So good I’m surprised it’s not an original novel by now. (It’s also my wife’s favorite ever.)
Sailor Moon
Unstoppable Force Meets Immovable Object by Krampus. Not only is it a crack pairing, Rei x Minako, but it’s also set in a non-senshi AU. lol I’m a sucker for opposites attract type ships and nothing makes me happier than seeing bubbly Minako annoy (and lowkey charm) grumpy, serious Rei.

so uh... this got to be over 4,000 words because i love fluff. so.... I’m not even going to try and put that on tumblr in any kind of way..
