Hey guys, GATA mask is having a sale! #notsponsored
gatapack.com
All masks are $10 and come with 10 disposable filters. This is the mask I have used exclusively for the past few years. It’s super comfortable silicone you can hand wash, boil or put in the dishwasher and then change the disposable filter as often as you feel comfortable. The bridge of the nose keeps your glasses from fogging up and it’s pretty comfortable. It comes in several colors and two sizes plus a child’s size (I wear an adult small).
Here are the downsides to this mask that I can think of:
- Changing the filter can be a little tricky and requires fine motor skills. If you have trouble with fine hand work it might not be possible to change the filter yourself and ensure it’s properly fitted.
- It can collect a lot of condensation inside if you are wearing it for hours or in really hot/humid environments. It’s not a problem for me (quick trips and appointments) but its not practical for Hubbins who works hard all day.
- Depending on your nose shape/size the tip of it might press against the plastic insert which holds the disposable filter in place. Its not uncomfortable for me but I’ve seen people just cut a piece out of the plastic insert and they feel better.
I love this mask. I keep one clipped onto my doggy bag at all times and I highly recommend the brand name version when they are on sale like this!

Say that you were considering getting an apricot poodle and I wanted to show you mine! They both ended up way lighter than their puppy coat lol
AWWWWW!!! I love them both🥺😭 I can't wait to get an apricot poodle! They just have such a special vibe to them, and I really love the look. Plus, it'll be so easy to professionally dye their hair once they lighten up (so they don't get stolen)🐩

Got someone to take a nice photo of me and Tzapo while we were hanging out at a nearby lake. He's such a good boy who ignores all the geese and water birds there.

Some people might ask me if my autism service dog (Eevee) has alerted to other people either at home or in public. The answer is yes, though she’s focused on me, there’s the odd time where a kid starts crying or someone else is showing more obvious anxiety signs. I do tell her to “leave it” in public (And like a proper service dog, she does!) but at home, she tries the same strategies she uses on my anxiety, on the person (Licking, snuggling, etc.). Eevee is really sweet! Actually some time ago, she turned her head to a child who started crying, then she looked at me as if she was trying to ask me “What do I do? Do you want me to help them?” She stayed in place and left the kid because I told her to
Dogs are outstanding for the many roles they take on and we should always love them for that!🐾❤️

In the United States, September is National Service Dog Month!
Here are some tips for anyone thinking about getting a service dog:
❤️ Most medical alerts are trained with scent detection. Blood glucose, heart rate, blood pressure, seizure, migraine, panic attack, food/environmental allergens, etc. We don’t know all of the chemicals dogs can detect, so if you are disabled and think a medical alert service dog could help you then it might be worth pursuing. (Debby Kay’s books/programs are a great place to start with scent training!)
❤️ Owner-training with positive reinforcement is totally doable! (I highly recommend the online service dog academy My Service Dog & Me LLC with Kate Olson!)
❤️ Raising and training a service dog in an apartment is doable! (I just posted about how to communicate with landlords about service dogs so definitely check that out if it applies to you!)
❤️ Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers, Poodles (of any size) and Smoothie Collies are called the “Fab Four” because their breed standards really jive well with service dog life. Any breed can be a service dog but not every dog can be. There’s nothing “basic” about choosing a Fab Four breed and off-breed dogs are just as valid. There are no guarantees in service dog training, so stack the odds in your favor by choosing a responsible breeder (I haven’t posted about this topic yet but there’s plenty of information about what makes a responsible breeder in the show, sport or service dog communities online)
❤️ By the legal definition, you have to be disabled to have a service dog. That doesn’t mean it has to be the last thing you try. If you think a service dog could help you then please reach out to me and others in the service dog community. We can help answer questions and get you pointed in the right direction. Good Luck!
Every team is different. Disabilities change. Training isn’t linear.
Here is what a typical morning looks like with my service dog at this point in our life.

I just found the perfect puppy for me, and it's taking EVERYTHING in me not to get him because it's not time to get one yet! I want to move in with my boyfriend at his current place so we can save gas money that we'll use for renting a house (or something similar) with a private yard instead. For this dog, we're going to PROVIDE!
The puppy I'm looking at is an apricot standard poodle who looks like the sweetest boy I've ever seen, and I want to name him Clementine or Latte🥺🐶🥰

PSA: Faking Service Animals Has Lead to Medical and Psychiatric Providers Refusing to Accept Patients With Service Animals
I know a lot of people really don't see the harm in someone taking their pet into non pet friendly locations, especially if they tack a service dog patch onto the harness. The damages caused by these untrained dogs is numerous and a lot of people have discussed issues such as cleanliness/health dangers, (pets sniffling and licking food in grocery stores), property damage (pets urinating or defecating in stores, chewing on things out of fear) fear aggression from untrained animals leading to injuries of humans and legitimate service animals.
These damages and concerns impact housing for individuals with service animals and access into public places. It also impacts our ability to get treatment.
Let that sink in: even with telehealth appointments, medical professionals will try to avoid seeing patients with service animals simply to avoid the risk that they will be held liable if that service animal, even one they did not recommend, winds up being a fake. Even if the service animal has no bearing on the appointment. Even if it is illegal to discriminate. Because of fear of being held legally accountable for someone taking their pet where it doesn't belong.
Yes, this is illegal and an issue of poor education within the professional fields leading to discrimination. But it is being fueled by the problems caused by people faking a service animal, which is a federal offense (and often a state offense) for reasons like this. Your actions don't exist in a vacuum. The damages your pet caused make the simple act of getting a telehealth appointment a freaking pain just because someone is scared of being held legally accountable for a pet's actions.
Sincerely, someone who has been calling all morning just to get a telehealth appointment to get my medication bridged because people are too scared to see a patient with a service animal that has nothing to do with the conversation I'd have with the clinician anyways.
