The pan out over the Jingshi with their song playing felt very much to me like a subtextual sex scene. So I wrote that hypothetical scene. Kay's comments: Missing scene from CQL and yes, I agree, the scene in episode 43 feels very much like a subtextual sex scene! And I love the way this fic fills the gap. Wangxian are just so soft with each other and the whole thing feels so warm. Really loved it. Excerpt: “I would like,” Lan Wangji begins. He pauses for a long moment. “I would like to show you. Words are… not always easy.” “Lan Zhan,” he replies. “Yes, show me.” Lan Wangji’s arms tighten around him, and his lips press against Wei Wuxian’s neck. They’re warm and soft, and he gasps, suddenly feeling hot all over. Lan Wangji continues pressing kisses up his neck, and all he can do is hold on, his arms tightening over Lan Wangji’s shoulders. Lan Wangji continues down the sensitive skin under his jaw until reaching his chin. He pulls back slightly until they are nose to nose, his breath brushing Wei Wuxian’s lips. “May I?” Lan Wangji asks again. “Yes,” Wei Wuxian breathes, and then they’re kissing.

Aaaah omg thank you for this ask my dear friend 🥹 I loved your list (found here). I did this 1,5 years ago (that list can be found here) and I didn’t want to repeat myself so I’m going to go with stuff that I’ve written since (as if that would make it easier) *cries in ambivalence*

Sweet Desire (Scorbus, just short of 6k, rated E, first person POV) I wrote this for last year's next gen fest. I was in a major writing slump and couldn't find any inspiration until I found the prompt "first time oral sex" and for some reason that inspired me. I had so much fun trying to convey that giddy teenage trying new things together in a trusting relationship, and I hope I pulled it off. Scorbus is pretty tricky for me to write but I really enjoyed spending time with these two lovebirds.

Sinking/Floating (Drarry, 963 words, rated T, second person POV) This was also something that made something click in me when I saw the lovely imovie of @bluebutter-art 's amazing fanart So rest your weary heart with me. I wanted to convey the same feeling I got when looking at Blue's art, and it took me a while to get there but I'm still very proud of how it came out.

Take that ride (Drarry, 1,6k, rated T) Inspired by Dance to this with Troye Sivan and Ariana Grande. I tried to capture the feeling of the song and include some of the elements in it, and tried to focus on the sensory despcriptions (which is something I tend to forget when writing), and I think it's one of the things I'm most proud of.

Let me show you (Drarry, 556 words, it's only on tumblr but I guess I'd rate it T) Sometimes inspiration just hits. You go about your daily chores and thinks about the fuck or die trope and then BAM! You need to write a 500 word drabble about mutual pining and Draco heroically chasing down Harry to offer his services.

microfic for the prompt "Truth or dare" for last year's flufftober I'm just super happy and proud that I managed to get this amount of story into 50 words, go me!

Ok so, when I first read through the prompt list for this year I was super exhausted & instead of reading the prompt as Unexpected/Contact my brain went ‼️UNEXPECTED CONTACT‼️ & immediately I thought of this scene from @antimonia’s fic The Heart Shall Speak Softly on ao3.

I love it so much it gave me all the soft mushy feelings. Just like I love it when some fics let Liu Qingge be a confident flirt, I absolutely LOVE it when authors decided to give Shen Yuan the brain cell that processes self awareness. 10/10 highly recommend.

I'm reading a time travel fic and in the latest chapter the author hits us with the pov of a character who didn't time travel - who in the future died gruesomely in a futile attempt to protect his shared home and save his little brother's tortured and dismembered body, and in the past sacrificed everything in a failed attempt to save that same brother from slavery - who thinks something along the lines of 'what must he have done in a past life, to have such loyal and caring people around him, who have seen him at his lowest and yet still deign to give him their loyalty?' and I'm SOBBING.

But mostly the nausea. Isobel, of course, also fell prey to ignorance. Or perhaps it was denial. She, of all people, had no reason whatsoever to believe she was with child.

my cryptic pregnancy au, most of which i wrote in the space of an overnighter. since then, i've chomped on it with @miandraa and decided to post. i may or may not be writing another chapter on the end there for an epilogue.

Thank you for the tag, @cricketnationrise! I think I did a version of this a couple months ago, but I'm in a very different headspace now than I was then so this list is a product of the here and now.

Wouldn't it Be Nice (Check, Please!) - I wanted to write something about that period of time between getting together and getting to be together, when you're pining not for a person but for the next steps with that person. This is a 5+1 of moments Jack wanted to propose to Bitty but it just wasn't the right time.

The Placebo Effect (Check, Please!) - This is one of two soulmates fics I've written, though this one subverts the trope a bit. Or, as I put it in the tags: the fic that dares to ask the question, are soulmates made or chosen? I recently reread this and I think it holds up.

take me out, and take me home (forever and ever) (Check, Please!) - This is another more recent fic and like a lot of my more recent fics, it takes place post-canon. This one focuses on a year in the life of Bitty and Jack, and the way they love each other when things get tough.

have I known you twenty seconds or twenty years? (Check, Please!) - another post-canon fic--ficlet, really--that came so easily, unlike most of what I've written in the past two years. This is pure fluff and my own personal comfort fic.

You Spin Me Right Round (Check, Please!) - My very first fic, the one that started it all. I got the idea for it in a spin class and six months later I was still thinking about it. It's an AU where Bitty is a spin instructor, Jack is his smitten client, and Bad Bob and Alicia are there to heckle Jack into making a move.

I'm not going to tag anybody since I so recently tagged a bunch of people in something similar, but if you see this and want to do it, this is your invitation!

Crossroads (Tumblr/AO3)

Steve has loved Eddie for centuries. For millennia. In every lifetime Steve remembers. And in every lifetime Eddie doesn't.

This fic was my baby for the longest of long times. I'm a bit of a history/classical studies nerd and I just couldn't get the thought of this kind of centuries long epic and devastating love story out of my head. I had originally planned to hint that our Steddie boys had influenced some of the most famous love stories in history but couldn't really find an appropriate place to put it. But I love this story and I put an awful lot of myself into it. 🖤

2. Safety (Tumblr/AO3)

There's a guy following Robin home. But just as she was ready to go into a full blown panic, she sees them. Long hair, chains, leather, denim, tartan, rings, tattoos, subculture. Flag patches and pins, her people. So she jumps into the middle, hoping, praying they'll go with it.

This fic... Oh man I could not have predicted the response to this fic. People adore it and I adore them for it. I think it's because there's such a solid theme of queer solidarity here. And people being people being good. Just helping each other out when in need. Understanding what it's like when you're part of a marginalised group and looking out for each other. It's such a comfort fic for me. 🖤

3. 37 Years To The Day (Tumblr/AO3)

Eddie, Steve, Robin and Nancy have just jumped through a lake into the Upside-Down when two mysterious and chaotic adults appear out of nowhere by Skull Rock. But why do they look so familiar?

This was one of the fics I had a vauge concept for a while but didn't start working on it until the anniversary of Eddie's "death day" (never happened) started to approach and I thought it could be a pretty cool idea. Plus I love writing Eddie and Robin being chaos creatures together.

4. Somebody To Love (Tumblr/AO3)

Personal assistant Steve and Rockstar Eddie. Unrequited love but not really. Mutual pining ALL OVER the place. And a lot of self care for both our boys.

It seems like all my most popular fics are the ones I came up with on a whim and not the ones I've been marinating on for months. 😅 Which is very interesting. But this one I thought it could be such a good opportunity for some terrible angst if Steve was right there watching Eddie hook up and discard people right in front of his face with no idea and it looks like I was right. 🤣

5. Family Commitments (AO3)

Eddie and Robin crash a family wedding Steve has to go to.

I love this one so much. It feels so soft and so comfortable to me like a well worn top. I just love writing sillies being besties. I love seeing the casual intimacy of a long term established relationship. I love a snapshot of life. I love the comfort of long term friendships. I love people who are so sure of their places in other peoples lives.

I just love it. 🖤

Open to Interpretation- This one's about Captain Swan and art, two things I'm very passionate about!

Wildflowers- It's simple, sweet, just the right length- and who doesn't love libraries and flowers, with just the right blend of situational comedy? I also loved the time I took to research different kinds of flowers for this one. Plus, it's August and Belle. What more can I say?

Operation Lunchbreak- This was the first OUaT fic I finished and posted. I loved being able to explore Killian and Henry's father/son dynamic, (and pepper in a bit of Captain Swan as well)

Dreams of Adventure- This one was one of my favorite Tangled fics I wrote. It was fun to play around with an au where Rapunzel and Eugene grew up as royals but still ended finding each other and falling in love 💜

How The Vicar Says "I Told You So"- I love being able to write fanfic for The Shuttle by Burnett, partly because the whole readerbase is already used to big, flowery, flowy, lofty language, but also because it was such an influential book for me, so I'm blessed to have the opportunity to give back to it, in a way.
