Something something, my persona as an MK OC.
Long story short, he's one of the member of the Sanctum of Seido (otherwise Orderrealm). Obsessed with keeping order, as any other Seido civilian, most presumably in matters of faith. Unlike other priests, Aquila is more laid-back and doesn't force his views of perfection upon non-Seidans. He may appear calculated and intimidating, but once you get to know him, he'll be the biggest jokester ever, competing with Johnny Cage. Some mistake him for an Edenian and he hates it. Loves dad puns and donuts.
Relationship with other characters:
Hotaru – despises him, despite the fact that priests are expected to treat guards with respect. Has nothing against other guards, just thinks that they need a different leader.
Darrius – used to be best friends until the Resistance happened. Is now mildly distrustful of him, even though deep down he still misses him.
Havik – is required to hate his guts, in reality - they're pretty chill together, even if Aquila tries to alter his decisions.
Ashrah – intrigued by her. Wants to know more about her path of redemption.
Kung Lao – mild crush (yeah OC x Canon cry about it).
Raiden – (previous timeline) worships him, but is concerned of his morality, (current timeline) "What a distinguished fellow!"
Johnny Cage – Friendly rivalry. Constantly compete on "Who has the best humor?".
Liu Kang – (previous timeline) tries to become friends just to get to know Lao better, (current timeline) worships, but recognizes his flaws and encourages to improve.

Are you the highest ranking or are there people above you? Would you say the structure is similar to that of a military in Earthrealm?
Tumblr media
"I am the highest ranking member of the Seidan Guard. The Seidan Guard is the central internal/external security bureau and law enforcement agency of Seido.
"Local law enforcement services answer to the Seidan Guard, which answers to the Senate. Intelligence services also fall under the jurisdiction of the Seidan Guard.
"We also maintain a defensive force with offensive capabilities that might look like a military to an Earthrealmer, but we are nothing like a military. Militaries in Earthrealm exist so that your different kingdoms can fight each other in your little wars. Seido is a unigovernmental entity with a population far smaller than Earthrealm's - there is no conquering to be done and no wars to be fought other than pockets of resistance and defending a handful of Seidan interests located in distant realms.
"The size difference is obvious when you note the amount of ground-level law enforcement I am authorized to do. Law enforcement in the capital is provided by the Seidan Guard.
"It has been said that the Commander of the Seidan Guard is the single individual with the most personal authority in Orderrealm, but this is simply not true. In fact, I have no authority: I am merely a conduit through which the Senate acts.
"I am also the Champion should Seido get embroiled in a Mortal Kombat tournament."
[[FYI if you're looking for my main HCs and stuff. I probably have a million on this blog but am not sure I have a tag for it]]

Honestly, I wasn't sure what I was expecting when I turned myself in and had to explain myself to Mileena. What was I supposed to say? "Well yes, I did betray our family to follow a random sorcerer who nearly caused the collapse of all the Realms, inadvertently caused the death of our mother, ran away and slept with an anarchist brute instead of accepting the consequences of my actions, and flooded a city and caused the deaths of thousands, but before you have me executed, please consider: I'm sorry"? What was the plan?
I don't regret it, but I still feel foolish for expecting things to go any differently than they did. I'm lucky the Seidan Resistance saved me from my execution (which, by the way, I just recently recalled the memories of my attempted execution... that was about as pleasant to remember as one would expect).

Mortal Kombat: Return of the dragon king: The rebel’s plan.
Summary: Darrius, leader of the rebellion against the Seidan guard, is ready to put his grand plan into motion.
Chapter List.
Chapter List part two.
Darrius had been given many names as the leader of the resistance force.
To his people, the downtrodden, he was a hero. The one person who would look out for them while the upper class stomped on their backs.
To the guards and rich folks, he was a madman, a villain looking to disrupt the stability of civilisation and reduce everything to maddening chaos.
Darrius shook his head as he loaded his weapons. So focused on order that they failed to notice that what the rebellion wants isn’t chaos. It’s just freedom. The ability to exist without constantly looking over your shoulder in case you accidentally crossed a line.
Darrius had made numerous attacks in the streets. Riots, blowing up buildings, killing high ranking government officials, and framing guards, but this would be his greatest idea yet.
An undercover rebel in guise of a guard told that Hotaru was heading to Outworld. Without the leader, Darrius could have him killed by a hired mercenary. But that wasn’t the main priority. His forces would start a massive riot in the centre square, causing all soldiers to try and stop it, leaving the government building open. Darrius would disguise himself and steal the declaration of order from the abandoned building before leaving without a trace.
Without their precious declaration, the rebellion could truly begin. He finished polishing his gauntlets just in time for one of his fellow friends to enter.
“Darrius, we’re all ready.”
Darrius nodded. It was time to begin with the plan. The mercenary had been sent, now for the motivation.
The rebellion was large, filled with people intentionally dressed in mismatched clothes and stolen weaponry from fallen enemies. Waste not, want not, as Darrius’ parents used to say. He cleared his throat before addressing the group.
“You all know your roles. Cause as much attention as possible. When I give the signal, all of you retreat. Use the smoke grenades for cover. Don’t take on more than you can chew. Once we make it back, we’ll go over phase two.”
Nods and cheers erupted in the room. Perfect, the motivation worked.
Darrius took off his sunglasses, revealing his eyes of genuine compassion.
“This will not come without loss. I do not doubt many of you will be arrested or executed. Regardless, know that I have valued fighting for our freedom alongside each and every last one of you.”
The room erupted into cheers. Darrius put on his sunglasses and grinned.
“It’s showtime.”
This was going to be fun. The revolution of Seido starts today.

Powers
Stella controls the divine power of the Sun, Moon, and Stars. This magic requires centuries to master so it's hard to tell when she will unlock her full potential. She is also quite gifted in other types of sorcery, like healing, enchantment, and occult teachings. For now, Stella relies on her fighting skills since she was trained at a young age.
Personality
Unlike other Seidans, Stella is friendly, laid-back and like to chat. But she is not naive. Stella is far more clever and observant than she appears. It's hard to hide something from her. Her powers can influence her mood but she learned how to control it. She always tries to compromise, even in hopeless situations. She often doubts herself and can be too hesitant in situations where she needs to be confident.
History
Stella was born in a small Finnish village. Her mother loved her dearly and once told one of her neighbors that she was a 'Gift from a God'. It is unknown who is Stella's biological father, although it is clear that he is a God.
When Stella was six her village was attacked by the Red Dragon Clan and her mother was murdered. Stella was able to run away and later was saved by the Seidan mercenary Dairou, who was on a mission in Earthrealm. Once a parent himself, Dairou considered their meeting as a second chance and adopted Stella.
He gave her a home in Seido and became her mentor. Stella joined the Seidan Resistance to free her home from violent government. At the age of 15 she inflitrated Seidan Guard to spy for Darrius. Under Hotaru's command, she continued her training. One day she got into Seido's archives and learned that it was Darrius, who killed Dairou's family.
Later, she discovered that Darrius was planning to let Havik's forces in Seido and destroy everyone, who would try to oppose him. Stella ended up in a difficult situation. She knew if she tried to warn Hotaru, he would've discovered her secrets and imprisoned both her and her father. But unfortunately, both Hotaru and Darrius found about Stella's treason.
Stella and Dairou had no choice but to escape and seek comfort in Earthrealm. In MKX, Stella was 18 and was sent on her first mission as a Seido Guardsman. In Outworld she met Reiko, who somehow survived after Havik's betrayal, and tried to arrest him. Reiko defeated Stella but refused to finish her.
Later, they met when Stella fought the superior number of Chaosrealmers. Reiko helped her. When she asked why, he told her that they have a common enemy - Havik.
During Shinnok's invasion Stella and Dairou arrived at Earthrealm. Fujin agreed to give them asylum and try to warn Hotaru about Chaosrealm's invasion.
Before the events of MK11 Stella joins Kenshi and Takeda Takahashi in a quest of finding Taven and avenging her mother's death.

How would I fix MK 11?
For those who don’t know, I made a 41 point list of questions I got from watching MK11′s story, and I got into an exchange with another user over said points. (https://swindle94.tumblr.com/post/186753421775/the-questions-raised-in-mk11s-story-mode ) I found that many flaws with the story as it had unfolded, and while I admit that a fair few of them were, in fact, nitpicks or even a little mad, I’m Still a little hung up on some of them. So in that spirit, Here’s just a general, jumbled and random bullet point list of what I’d do to the story of 11 if you put my happy ass in the writer’s desk, and perhaps a design ideas desk before 4thsnake gets to it. 1. I’d make Kronika’s powers more consistent, or at least explain why they seem inconsistent. Maybe lay out what she’s “Said” to be able to do, and then she can have a kind of epic “Turns out I can also do this.” Moment. Or maybe explain that after going through so many timelines (in some of which it is implied she almost lost/died) Her sanity is genuinely just going away.  2. I’d add more factions and make the whole game a mad scramble to recruit everyone possible, certain actions in the story recruiting one group in the place of another. Red Dragon, Seidans, Zetarrens, The Naknada as a people, Cryomancers, Vampires, Riders (Ferra/Torr), etc.  -An example would be something like Going to the Naknada or the Seidan resistance and “Taking out” the other’s leader, who would end up escaping and joining Kronika. It would add at least a little flavor to subsequent playthroughs, always culminating in this massive charge of various different factions.  3. Smoke, Sindel, Stryker, and Nightwolf are actually in this, but maybe establish that since Raiden’s threat at the end of X there was some sort of schism between them and Liu’s people, and maybe they abandoned their hate and whatever kept them impure using Nightwolf’s guidance, possibly Ashra’s, they lead some sort of heavenly army in the battle against Kronika. 4. I’d throw in a few past versions of more characters. Like Cyrax and Sektor? Maybe Cyber Kuai Liang? Really Establish that all these past versions of characters are from wildly different timelines. Ones where they still have MK9-ish attitudes toward being cyberized, But maybe have them alter their feelings as the story goes, Cyrax and Sub-Zero freeing their cyborg selves from Mecha Sektor’s literally iron grasp on their minds, showing past Sektor that the Cyberizing should have been, if nothing else, less all-consuming.  5. Dark Raiden stays. Can we just agree that him up and vanishing by chapter 2 was a bloody waste? DR bouncing off his past self would have been gold. He’s more willing to make deals with more devils than Kronika just to protect Earthrealm and its people.  6. I’d make the Naknada from Seido instead of Outworld, We’ve seen so little of that realm that a new species not being in what you explore in Deception makes at least some sense, at the very least it would be better than Outworld having yet another species of humanoids just waltzing about.  7. Just make Noob the past one. Maybe add the current one in as a sort of envoy for the gods, that would have been interesting. Noob from the past sees what he can become and just thinks his other, “Holy” self is weak, IDK, but this basically just how I’d explain away where TF he’s been all this time, the gods have been purifying and training him. It’d be a decent answer at least.  8. I mentioned establishing that all the past characters are from wildly different timelines... Why not throw in ones that are “Very likely” the one from the current timeline, so if something happens to that one, shit would get real? It’s just a case of figuring out which one is from a similar line and which one is actually your past self one to one.  I will grant that this has the most potential to just make things way more confusing or annoying but TBH It also has the most comedic potential and the most for some really intense fight scenes in the game.  9. I’d have Liu Kang’s Revenant not steal his own soul. I’d straight up have them fuse together during a fight. The two of them and the Raidens fusing into a master of storms and flame. Two versions of Mortal Kombat’s Champion and Two lightning gods, corrupt as two of them are, would make for one utterly devastating warrior, especially if the idea just comes to Raiden in the middle of a battle. (Basically just slightly altering Fire God Liu Kang’s origin, I admit)  10. I’d bring Mileena back and maybe have her join Kitana’s side after Kahn’s death. 11. I’d have Kano explain that “Every Market” line a little better. Those are most of the big ones, I’d appreciate some thoughts.  Little Edit: 12. The boats. I’d definitely change that a little, have Kronika’s plan still involve tying up Kharon and all that, but I wouldn't have Cetrion randomly building this bridge over the blood sea, just establish that Kronika can make her own boats, but Kharon is the only non-titan at the moment who can fairy the forces of light.

PREVIEW: The Takahashi Family Saga - Of Roads to Redemption (IV)
Tumblr media
Recap: Takeda displays disturbing abilities of telepathy and telekinesis, far beyond his control. Kenshi seeks to install mental markers for him, to train his mind in kombat, lest he tear himself apart during the heat of battle.
Hotaru narrowed his eyes, but said nothing for a while, ruminating the swordsman’s words. His powerful arms remained crossed at his chest, as he stood well over seven feet tall, far above the Takahashi duo. The twin suns of Seido, at the verge of setting, shone brilliantly behind his head - orange spheres of glowing light that somehow softened the harshness of angular Seidan structures that surrounded them. Hotaru’s white hair reflected in the light like diamonds – despite his imposing presence, he himself was a sight to behold.
As instructed by his father, Takeda kept his expression impassive, jaw relaxed, and hands visible at all times – conscious that it could take as little as a contemplative frown to be labelled insolent and impudent to the Seidans, especially since he hailed from another realm.
Yet he couldn’t help but let his eyes wander around. It seemed as if he had stepped into a set of some science fiction film. To the eighteen-year old, Seido filled his heart with immense wonderment. He presently stood at the apex of a staircase – one that ascended high without any support seemingly. Pyramids rose to either side of the stairs, white marble like structures now awash in golden light from the suns. ‘Official structures for record-keeping,’ Kenshi had said when Takeda had asked what was inside those buildings. Before chuckling to himself – casually recounting that a long-running joke between the realms was that a Seidan perhaps would prefer sleeping next to his record-book than a woman.
Nevertheless, Takeda remained fixated on his surroundings, deciding that ignoring Hotaru’s condescension would perhaps be better in this scenario than reacting at all. The air was clean and fresh, and the sky above them in mid-sunset, glittering with millions of hues of gold he had never seen before. Yet – there was a sense of danger, in the air. He could not quite place it in his head – but it seemed to envelope the entirety of their surroundings – so that despite the beautiful, sleek and symmetrical lay of the land, it almost seemed as if they were standing in the midst of an invisible battlefield.
“I worry that the spawn of Chaos could still linger within the boy – a risk that I am rather unwilling to take,” finally boomed Hotaru, slightly apologetic, but still authoritative in his claim.
“Havik is dead, Hotaru. You have it on my word that no Chaos will follow through my son into Seido – Earthrealm’s interests are clear in the Reiko Accords, and we have no designs on the Realm of Order, nor any wish to further the cause of the Resistance. True neutrals, a balance in the greater scheme of things.”
“That, I am aware of. But freedom to roam the realms is worrisome to us, as you could imagine—” Hotaru completed, with a sly smile.
Kenshi merely gestured with openness: “We only seek to Order the chaos within ourselves, Hotaru.” He said as he brought a fist right above his chest. “… Lest it destroys everything that we have built so far…”
“These times are uncertain, swordsman. But I will grant you and your son one night at the Akropolis. At daylight, you must leave - otherwise we will consider you collaborators with Darrius, and prosecute you accordingly…”
“I thank you, High Seidan Guard,” Kenshi replied with sincerity, bowing with respect while Takeda hurriedly followed pursuit. Hotaru returned the gesture, before walking off to prepare the necessary warrants that would grant the Earthrealmers nightly sanctuary in the highest station in Seido.
-------------
Dedicate this to @therealpoesdaughter for inspiring me to continue writing, and especially @the-06, who I know has been waiting for an Order-realm write up for a very, VERY long time!
Hope you folks enjoy :)

ARCHIVED FILE: CYBORG
Her cybernetics are far too different from the old models of the tekunin from decades ago, the model was brought to life by both Sektor and Kano, used Seidan technology to build up the new cyber body, presenting different characteristics that required different procedures. Meanwhile, Kronika was responsible for shaping this new idea and Frost gave her consent to proceed with it, one step at the time. The blueprints were indeed based in Sektor's base model, with several modifications to fit a certain aesthetic, also it demanded the implementation of Soul Magic and the Jinsei's energy.
HEAD
One of the characteristics that differentiate her from the rest of the cyborgs is the maintenance of her facial features. The skin that can be seen is not her human flesh but is synthetic skin, accompanied by artificial muscles that mimic natural muscles. As one of her most notorious changes that can be seen at first glance are her eyes, both have been replaced with a bionic pair of eyes which hold different functions (analyzing the health status of others, projecting holograms such as a map of the night sky or certain memories).
As for her brain is one of the human parts that still reside after the conversion, with an implanted chip that allows the access to a wide system to which every tekunin is connected to, Frost being the "head" of the entire conglomeration of cyborgs, they act under her orders and are her "eyes" and "ears", but shares this connection along with Sektor. In case that Sektor becomes obsolete, Frost can keep leading the rest of the cyborgs.
The skull has been remade with carbon fiber, there is needed a lot of pressure to break it since it encases her brain but it can be used also as a weapon since her head can be detached, however, this model of her skull is an exact copy of her real skull. Even if her head is separated from her body, she can control it despite the distance and keep performing attacks as she had both parts together.
TORSO
Another part of her natural body that still remains is her heart which has been modified with valves and durable tissues with the usage of nanotechnology, this modification allows her resistance during the battles, pumping fluids as her blood, Jinsei's energy (that has been materialized and liquified) and oil through different systems of wires. Right next to her heart it exists a cube with her own essence with a direct communication with the core on her chest, this core possess tubes that refill with her own essence, using it as a weapon that can freeze the opponent, and if she impacts it against a surface the essence bursts out, per se, her cryomancy can be transmitted to this core.
The rest of the organs have been replaced with wires and valves, including a venting system, which it doesn't let the body to overheat while fighting or is exposed to a critical situation. A system of tubes works just like a normal circulatory system, connected to the power array on her back and the core on her chest, providing a via for her essence to manifest through her body in any shape she desires.
Her torso is separated in two by the level of her waist, allowing her to spin the high part above the waist, another characteristic that she doesn't share with the previous cyber models. Even if her torso spins in a certain direction, no matter if it's left or right, her head is static over her shoulders, keeping an eye on her enemy and letting her walk towards them. The human skin has been completely replaced with an especial structure made with carbon fiber, the sides present additional plaques to keep this new skin in the respective place. An armor completes the set, this armor is made of steel and carbon fiber and is interchangeable and can be modified, however, this armor can break if there is too much pressure applied to it.
LIMBS
Just like the armor, her limbs are detachable and interchangeable, once they are connected to her torso it activates a link to the circulatory system. Her legs and arms have a metallic skeleton as a base, accompanied with layers of plaques that serve to secure the skeletal structure and provide a drastic force when any of these limbs hit the flesh of the opponent. Finally, the plaques that are visible are as hard to break as her torso, she can fall from a great distance and not suffer the damage of impacting against the ground.
The arms are one of the most important parts when it comes to fighting, they have a plaque around the first layers of metal made of steel, painted with a golden pigment. If they are separated from her they won't be able to be controlled separately, not in the same form as the rest of her body when the head is not close. Once the connection has been made, her essence can reach the tip of fingers, emulating the fighting style she used to have before the cyberization, however her ice is more resistant and she is allowed to craft a variety of weapons besides just daggers (swords, crystals, drills, scythes).
SOUL
The Soul Magic is responsible for unifying her soul with her physical remains since it has been “hibernating” patiently after the disembodiment of her real body. An uncommon procedure that only Kronika could perform since she was in charge of the conversion. The addition of transporting her soul as an AI was part of a Plan B in case Frost’s new body suffered any sort of fatal damage, and itself carries her essence, even if it resides now inside of a crystal cube, both concepts are connected to each other. Her soul didn’t suffer modification while it was in a state of hibernation.

✂ time to finally end Darrius
MURDER MEME || always open || @chxxseyourfighter
Justice was a solemn obligation. Solemn and sometimes painful.
He stood next to Darrius on the stage in the public amphitheatre, gazing upon the hundreds and hundreds of restrained Resistance members, on their knees like their leader.
These had all once been normal Seidan citizens but got caught up in the web of romantic lies that Darrius manipulated them with. Now they were terrorists. Enemies of the state--and they would pay. Although criminals, they were also victims in a way, and Hotaru understood how they came to be that way.
They had been partners in the Guard. Friends. They worked well together and covered each other's weaknesses. They talked to each other. They understood each other. Until they didn't. It only took one moment, one awful moment, to erase centuries of friendship and to become enemies as if from the dawn of time. Hotaru knew this well.
Hotaru had unshakeable faith in the Senate. Just because the two guards happened upon a shady deal between two senators did not mean that it was their place to charge in and disrupt the order of the State to prosecute politicians. But the fact that it broke Darrius, it broke his resolve and loyalty and faith and turned him into a monster--that meant he had been fooled; that there had been red flags and warning signs that Hotaru should have seen. But looking back, even now, he could not see them. Darrius was a liar, a born liar, and had never truly been his friend.
Next to each prisoner in the vast crowd below them stood a member of Seidan law enforcement - some were members of the Guard and some were provincial security. Each had a weapon at the neck of their prisoner.
Hotaru looked down at Darrius. Darrius was calm. Cool. Collected. Looking at his people. One might think that he cared about them. But Darrius cared for nobody but himself. He was as willing to sacrifice his followers as he was to slaughter innocent civilians for his "cause" - a cruel and losing cause.
Hotaru had prepared a speech for this moment. He was utterly unable to stick to it. Instead he spoke what came to him. If anybody found out, they would be scandalized.
"Today marks the end of the scourge that was your apostate Resistance," Hotaru said. "You betrayed your families. You betrayed your friends. You betrayed that child, that innocent child you never knew, whose life you violently stole in smoke and flame and hubris. Your legacy will be as terrorists who brought senseless death and disorder to innocent people for a repugnant cause."
He stared out. With blades to their necks, these resistance members suddenly had nothing to say.
Darrius still gazed out cooly, ignoring Hotaru. No shame. No regret. Defiant to the very end.
Hotaru, stone-straight and gazing out, spoke softly so that he could not be heard by the crowd. "The fate you promised your people."
Hotaru nodded.
The juicy sound of hundreds of throats being sliced in unison reverberated throughout the amphitheatre. Utter silence followed.
Hotaru said one more thing to his old friend.
"I hope it was worth it."
Without looking down, Hotaru slit Darrius' throat.
It was over. Seido and its innocent civilians were finally safe; the legendary Seidan Guard living up to their reputation quashing the Resistance. Darrius would never hurt anybody again. The Seidan Guard would never have to hunt him down, gather intelligence about him, intercept him. No more games of cat-and-mouse. No more presence in Hotaru's mind.
Hotaru was not surprised that he suddenly felt alone.

Ah yes, here I am, once again remembering people who technically don't even exist in my source, this time being Khrome (who I remember being a part of the Seidan resistance like Havik and Darrius).
I didn't know Khrome too well, but he seemed nice enough, and his ferromancy was quite impressive. I wish I got to know him a little better. I feel like we could've had a lot in common.

Lei Chen Worldbuilding Part 2
Seido Occupation of Lei Chen
In Mortal Kombat: Deception, we know that Shujinko misleads Hotaru into helping Lei Chen. He agrees - without Zeffeero’s knowledge - to let Orderrealm claim Lei Chen. We find out in later dialogue that Hotaru came, liberated the city, claimed it for Seido (something Zeffeero did not remember offering BECAUSE HE DIDN’T), and … well. Not much else.
I like the idea of Seido claiming Lei Chen - but then, just as Lei Chen has resisted Shao Kahn, so does it resist Hotaru and his forces. Occupation is often one of the first steps to colonization, and I think a history of rebellion and attempted conquering and occupation, only to be thrown off, is an interesting idea to explore with Lei Chen.
From here on out… welcome to Dei's Headcanon Land! (this is mostly developed for furthering BEEN THERE, DONE THAT).
The city was first occupied by Orderrealm soldiers, instituting the curfew and other laws intended to control the population. We know about the curfew because Shujinko was imprisoned for breaking it, despite his ignorance of it (this is canon). Laying down rules and prohibitions around interaction and engagement is an easy way for occupying forces to break up and control a population. Access to gatherings and spaces, and controlling those gatherings and spaces, were at the top of Hotaru’s list.
Lei Chen’s citizens were expecting assistance, not occupation. They did not leap to armed resistance as a first response. They had already been taxed to near-death by Shao Kahn before Zeffeero pushed back; if they were able to handle fighting off a horde, they wouldn’t have needed Shujinko’s aid to get Mileena, Baraka, and the Tarkatans off their territory. They were exhausted, physically, economically, and emotionally, from their trials. Seido’s appearance was a surprise, though quickly one that turned invasive and troubling.
Hotaru demanded that the residents of Lei Chen follow the laws of Seido. These included the aforementioned gathering restrictions, the establishment of work units, and further establishing food and supply rationing due to their economic state. Lei Chen was a mostly agricultural community with some timber and mining from the nearby mountains; work was permitted, by authorized - and supervised - individuals. The Seidans began work initially on improving the homes and defensive capabilities of their new outpost. Everything needed to be brought into the state of order and perfection as decreed by the Seidan code.
Work gangs quickly began to hoard supplies out of the city walls, or find ways to secrete them in the less-well-managed parts of the city.
Hotaru and his soldiers struggled to understand chaos and resistance - part of their own difficulties in apprehending Darrius that had necessitated Shujinko’s involvement. They could only see a city slowly recovering its health and economic stability while challenged by obedience to Orderrealm’s perfectly reasonable procedures. Hotaru’s Guardsmen were used to Orderrealm's practices, and unsympathetic to the new population.
They were blind to the growing insurrection. The residents of Lei Chen readied themselves while endeavoring to draw the least amount of attention from their occupiers as possible. And then they pushed back, viciously armed. Zeffeero was extracted from his prison, reinstated as Overlord of the city, and the Seidans removed over several days of violent conflict. The city remembers this all too easily and too vividly when threats and rumors of oppression and potential occupation or conquering swirl through the streets... such as Shao Kahn's return and his likely desire to crush Lei Chen to make a point... or Jade's desire to use it as a base for her rebellion to remove Shao Kahn and reinstate the imprisoned Kitana as Kahn.

Orderly Hiatus
The jail shook with the violence of three well-placed Chaos rupture bombs. The alarms whining loud and clear for the personnel to move in their obnoxiously trained reaction. Their patrols flooded out but so did their prisoners. The denizens of rebels, wrongly-placed citizens, even the gall of otherrealmers. The cackling of few Chaosrealmers wearing the face of once good and upright folk, immediately meeting their antithesis with the tri-jointed whips and sweeping attacks of their mad fighting styles meeting the disciplined elegance of the Seidan Guard.
In the clouding smoke, a squad slipped along. Their visors glowing their pale reflections, piercing to secure one of their more recent prisoners.
“Where is he?” One questioned. Almost missing the thunk of one of their own falling. “Hm!?” When he turned, a naginata sliced across his jugular. In the same motion, that bloodied blade speared into another’s thigh and upvaulted the shadowed figure into the air for a savage decapitating split-kick.
“There he is!” A guard cried out, lunging to catch the prisoner in his evasive roll. Bouncing off the floor and wall, this spring-heeled devil spin-kicked the visor and cheekguard into depressed uselessness. The Orderrealmer growled, voice muffled in painful frustration. “Warn Cap-ghah!”
Windpipe crushed and snatched. The shadow moved before another explosion tore the corridor open, finally letting the choking smoke to heave up to reveal Mavado to the last of the squad. His face stone-cold before splashing the gore onto the guard’s visor. However, it wasn’t him to do the final blow.  ZHAK!
A energy beam sliced through the Seidan’s chest and out from behind. A Red Dragon mercenary lifting his energy rifle, “Sir.”  “PROTOCOL FALL.” Mavado commanded as he flipped back to his securer and down to a hover-vehicle commandeered by another pair of Orderrealm renegades and two mercenaries. Quickly taking advantage of the escape before Hotaru’s nearly impenetrable security completely closed them in. Outside, the Orderrealmers were already moving, fighting with planted saboteurs and Resistance - nevermind the invoke of Chaos done.
With a sweeping dive in the celestial skies, a portal was forced open by the screaming of a tortured dragon. Mavado spat off the side, Orderrealm Operations were...temporarily incognito.

Hotaru did not know what he felt. It was indescribable. The despair. The inadequacy. The guilt and shame. The shock, the disbelief, the confusion, the anger, and the horrible, horrible feeling of being proven absolutely right.
But if there was ever a time in which he could not show it, it was now, in front of this monster, this genocidaire, this beast. Havik, too, was indescribable. Freedom? Thousands of dead civilians was "crying freedom?"
Attack the Senate, fine. Blow up Seidan Guard bases, fine. But innocents? What good did that do?
Not much - not for Darrius' and Havik's "resistance," anyway.
Part of Hotaru did not hate Havik as much as he hated Darrius. Darrius found a bottom-caste bottom-feeding cretin mad at having consequences for breaking the law and with a personal grudge against Hotaru for some reason. Then he convinced the small-minded idiot that he was going to be the savior of his people from their terrible oppression, when the truth was his people weren't oppressed at all - they were given the exact rights that their savagery could handle. Darrius gave him power and let him loose because he knew damn well that whatever Havik was going to do, it would be a nightmare. That way Darrius could show up and save the day for the millions of people outside the capital, thrown into disarray from loss of their government and the violent uprising of the lower castes, whose idea of "freedom" no doubt included pillaging, violence, rape and murder. Then Darrius could position himself as the moderate choice, the reasonable middle ground between Order and Chaos.
But what Havik had done was beyond imagination. Hotaru had cried the first time he was alone after returning with the allied Outworld army and witnessing the unspeakable ruin. It was not just because of the loss of his beautiful world, but also because he was the one tasked with defending it and he had failed. It was his job to keep these savages in check and he failed, and they proved to the universe just how savage they were.
Given their anarchy and their loose, carefree hold on the rest of Seido, it was not hard to destroy them. They had Outworld's help - Empress Mileena felt it was her duty to lend the strength of her armies, since it had been an Outworlder named Zafeero - another name Hotaru inexplicably felt like he knew - who had summoned this great flood.
The smell of dampness was more from moss growing in between the cracks of rocks of rubble. Houses, universities, theatres, museums - how much culture had they lost? But Hotaru had found him in the headquarters of the Seidan Guard, in <i>his</i> office, sitting in <i>his</i> chair, with his feet propped up on Hotaru's table and looking as smug as a king. Because he did not understand that sitting in that chair meant that Hotaru <i>served<i> Seido, not that he ruled over it.
Hotaru had plowed through the remains of the compound, laying a one-man siege in a straight line to his office, killing anyone and everyone in his way.
Within one second of entering the room, Hotaru had the disfigured bastard stuck against the wall, held in place in a cooled lava cocoon that kept him from moving his limbs. Hotaru was not interested in a fight. This monster, this subseidan, was not worth one. He wasn't worth pausing for, either: shooting the large amount of lava through his table and straight at Havik did not cause Hotaru to miss a single step. Soon, he was inches from his disgusting face.
Havik's real name was apparently Dairou - which seemed very slightly familiar to Hotaru in a very slightly sad way that he couldn't explain or place. But Hotaru would speak neither name..
In fact, Hotaru would not even waste a single word on this evil, primitive creature. Instead, he gave him and his soon-to-be coffin a disgusted onceover and then poured lava right onto his head until his entire body was enveloped in the unforgiving stone made of Hotaru's lava.
As Hotaru turned around and sealed every step behind him with walls and walls, he did not feel any better. What was done to his world was done. There was no closure. There was no justice. All he could do was stop "Havik" from hurting anyone else.
Even when--not if, <i>when</i> -- Hotaru rid the world of Darrius, there would be nothing but regret and shame.
There was no possible way that Hotaru could truly atone for his Then, at least, he hoped he could commit Hara Kiri so that the world could rebuild, free of him.
