I hate when characters in a podcast describe and liken their situation to another fiction podcast the characters are listening to. Nothing takes me out faster
#I especially hate when podcasts from the same author meet and nothing much happens. not even a funny scenario happens#the first is shout out that just bothers me personally. The second is a commercial#podcasts#sorry i remembered the bright sessons today... there were other reasons why i dropped it tbh#i think i got angry because the dialogue style pissed me off too much... made me think of a bad to mid YA#and I heard my fav character (the doctor) gets sidelined

watching the competing Amazon Media Properties posts cycle past is enough to give you whiplash, sometimes from the same blog
for every "why you should boycott/ignore/morbius the rings of power show to stick it to amazon and show your opinion of their shitty adaptation, shoddy priorities, and evil labor practices"
like a week ago there were half a dozen "the way to let amazon know we want a second season of sandman is to watch it all the way through over and over again" exhortations
i understand in some cases these are coming from different fannish groups but you can see how these two things alone would cancel each other out when it comes to fans making a "statement" towards amazon as a media-creating entity
like yes completely blank a crappy show that's disrespectful of both the longtime fans and the source material, and yes support the show that actively does the opposite
but can't imagine that any of this is going to have any deeper takeaway on the corporate side than to hopefully shape the choice of which tv show receives funding in the future
#the funny thing is when both types of post are reblogged on the same blog#like you realize if amazon media tanks that means no more of the other shows it makes too right?#like that's part of the bargain if you want to take down or hurt the actual company#and i guess theoretically depriving them of a 'flagship' fantasy show and leaving them with 'sandman and the gay people' instead#is a happy result in the end? like i support ba sing se tactics for one and a second sesson of the other too

ok so since people didn’t cut my head off for my unpopular opinions i’m gonna expand on the second one. so for people in the gilmore girls fandom it’s pretty much the general opinion that luke is a saint for taking jess in and that jess screwed things up and that it’s his fault luke kicked him out. ”he got himself kicked out”. even people who like jess seem to think this is fair. so as someone who watches gilmore girls mostly for jess i have a different perspective that i’ve never actually vocalized but i figured maybe this little corner of the internet wouldn’t hate me for this, as long as it doesn’t make it out of here.
so i also first of all think that the fact that jess has to work at luke’s and graduate in order to stay there is a bit sad. like everyone around him his age has somewhere they can stay without conditions, and people wonder why he’s the only one worried about making money. and yes, it’s a fine idea in theory, he has to change his ways if he wants to stay with luke bc that’s the point of him being there, sure, but luke could stand to NOT always bring it up to jess during fights that can’t stay with him if he violates the conditions.
bc the thing is that luke very clearly makes it known that he doesn’t want jess there and that the whole situation is kind of a pain in his ass that he’s doing out of obligation. a minor is entitled to a place to stay where they can be an asshole unconditionally, actually, and they shouldn’t have to be constantly grateful to have that. and if luke didn’t want to fully commit and be that place, he should have said no to taking jess in. you don’t get to get all the praise for doing a good deed and then get all pissy about actually following through with it.
like i know luke and jess aren’t the main characters and that their scenes and dynamic are for comedy. but then they play off jess leaving as serious so i should be allowed to analyze their scenes seriously. and my conclusion is… luke is not that nice to jess LOL. like i can’t think of a single scene where he responds to him in any other manner than pissed off or annoyed. he never stops treating him like a bad kid. we know luke cares about jess but does jess have any reason to believe that? or does he think this is all for liz? like i know their scenes are jokes but for someone who complains so much about what a difficult person jess is to connect with, i think luke missed a lot of moments to do it.
luke taking jess in in general is nice, YES, but i’m not talking about just good intentions here. and i know that it was a very good intention but i, again, just super dislike the whole ”you wouldn’t have anywhere to stay if it wasn’t for me, so watch it”-attitude. even in season 4 luke basically said that jess had to come to liz’ wedding because he was there for him when no one else was. and i think that’s a shitty thing to say to someone who deserved more. i know luke didn’t have to do it bc he’s not his parent and that’s why people forgive him and not liz, who is his parent and did have to do it. but i think luke agreed to be jess’ parent and if he didn’t want to, he could have said no to his sister for once in his life. anyways, i think i’ve made my point.
also, i love you luke, my world just revolves around your nephew. i know i’m putting a lot of unrealistic expectations on a guy who’s pretty emotionally constipated. and he did come through with the big things, like giving jess money in sesson 4. but i’m talking about the little things that could have made even more of a difference. just don’t get it twisted ok, luke and jess’ relationship is my fave on the show, i may like it even more than rory and jess’, but when i enjoy something i analyze it. so don’t think i don’t love them, because i do! i just want to squash the idea that luke did everything he could but that jess ultimately was too difficult, because i disagree with that.

Vilma Santos froze. That wasn't the knock her brother in law told her was his. But who could they be expecting? All their neighbors were somewhere in the past according to Sergio. Maybe he'd sent new friends? Her daughter Rosa however had other plans for the day. She'd been promised a sesson with her piano friend and this must be him!
She used the special nob they'd installed to male the door easy to open for her in case of a fire. Her face fell when she saw a man who was not her piano friend.
There was a heavy second. Vilma looked at the doorway, and at her daughter, and quickly put down her pencil. "Hello there sehnor! I'm Vilma, what brings you to our lovely home?" She shivered as wind blew in. "Please, come inside it's far too cold for an open door." She knew English, but her accent was heavy and she hoped her words made sense.
Rosa looked at him closely. On the head of the 14-15 year old girl was an identical hat to Sergio. She tugged on her mother's arm. "Aah, nah naaa."
"I'm sorry, I don't think he's coming today."
Rosa looked frustrated and sat on the floor.

Year of D&D 2023
This year, it was difficult for free time to line up for me and my friends. In last years "Year of D&D" post, i started by complaining about how infrequent our play was that year, but this year, we played even less. Mostly because of scheduling issues, but also because its difficult to plan as a DM. The scheduling issue has become more difficult partially because all of our current campaigns have more regular player characters. In 2020, we played with 1 DM and 4 players, but now most of our campaigns have at least 5 characters, one had 6, but one dropped out, and I DM'd a campaign that briefly had 8 player characters. Finding free time that lines up for 8 people is very very difficult. But as I'll discuss later on, we might've come up with a solution to this.
Here's the stats for this year:
In 2023, our group played 4 different adventures, a combined 12 sessions.
I made 13 session arts (1 extra one being the Meet the Party art for Princes). This was compared to 22 sessions and 21 session arts the previous year.
I was a player character in 2 campaigns, and the DM in one campaign and one Oneshot.
Pokémon Oster was the only returning campaign from last year, with sessons 1-5 happening in 2022, and sessions 6-9 this year.
Princes of the Apocalypse is our new core D&D module campaign, continuing from our DM of Tomb of Annihilation and Ravnica. We played 3 sessions this year.
Call of the Netherdeep was my first try at a module campaign, taking place in the world of Critical Role. We have 5 core players that will play every time, plus 3 "guest" players that play as the rival party, and I only intend to join us when they're needed or free.
Frozen Memories was our Halloween One-Shot for the year, and like Call of the Netherdeep, was pre-written. In my opinion, following someone else's work made it flow better than last year's Halloween One-Shot.
Darryl Fisher returns from last year as my player character in Pokemon Oster, our Pokemon Tabletop United campaign. Since last year, there's been no siginificant change in his playstyle. He fights alongside his Pokemon when facing some Wild Pokemon and ruffians, but respects league rules against regular trainers. Darryl is a mono Water type trainer, and his team consists of Piplup, Buizel, Carvanha, Magikarp, Wooper, and Tympole. He embodies everything a water type trainer would be, he is a swimmer, a fisherman, and even a diver, interested in buried treasure. I play him as a blokey bloke, and a bit of a bogan, but he has a good heart, and steps up to the plate when needed.
The Pokémon Oster campaign has no sign of stopping, so we will see more of Darryl next year.
Lilith Maddox is my player character in Princes of the Apocalypse. Lilith is my second attempt at a morally grey character (after Nevaeh), but one who i hope to play on a redemption arc on. Lilith is an Eloquence Bard, meaning I can expect most social interactions to go my way, and although i havent had much of a chance to play her, I want to use that as part of her personality and arc. Her father was an incubus, and this means that Lilith's aura naturally puts people at ease, and more likely to agree with her. Because Lilith usually gets her way, this means she has developed a bratty complex, with the secret fear that actually maybe nobody likes her for real. I want to play her to help get over my own imposter syndrome.
Lilith has also been the artistic bane of my existence this year. Perfecting the look of a character that is both snooty and reserved, with an outfit that speaks Bard and Succubus, but not in an inappropriate way, has been almost impossible for me. What I've presented here is what I hope is my final take on Lilith, but who knows when I'll next come upon a design idea I want to incorporate into my most incomplete D&D character.
This year I also took to DMing more. In previous years, I was DMing a campaign I wrote myself called Rise of the Lich Queen, and it wasn't fantastic. So this year, I've put the Lich Queen on hiatus to make an attempt at a following a prewritten campaign, Call of the Netherdeep. The campaign pre-bakes a rival party into the story, and instead of just using the pre-written rivals, i thought it would be interesting for real people to play them. Since the rivals aren't there every session, their players wouldn't need to be every session either. The necessity of having all character present at the start of the campaign did make scheduling difficult, and we only organised 4 sessions. It is on me to schedule as the DM for this campaign, so hopefully, we will find the time for more of this campaign this year.
Our first year of D&D featured a Halloween Oneshot, and we missed out on that 2021. So i've strived to take the reins and make it a yearly tradition again. Last year I wrote my own OneShot, and it had an interesting gimmick, but was poorly written. This year, like my core campaign, I followed a prewritten adventure, Frozen Memories. Having lore and set pieces already written for me allowed me to flesh out specific moments and better write character moments.
What I think was the better take away from this OneShot however was what DIDNT happen. I ran a couple session zeros to help with character creation and to set the stage for the setting, and at one point, all 8 of my closest friends had drafted up a character idea. But when the year started to run out, I decided I needed a cut off, and one weekend, just ran the adventure for who was available. I think I want to use this format going forward; running shorter adventures and changing out the players depending on who is free. I don't know if it will always be OneShots, but I think flexibility for scheduling will make sessions more frequent.
So if I only played as two characters this year, how was I going to fill in the space on my Year of D&D poster for this year? Well this year I played a videogame called Baldur's Gate 3. And BG3 is basically D&D 5e as a videogame. Since first playing the game, I have beaten the game with 3 different characters, and I based each of them on past and present D&D characters. I have a couple more characters in mind that I will play into next year, but there's not a lot to the game that I haven't experienced in my first three playthroughs.
I did write ups for all these characters in a previous post so if you wanna read up on those, Here is the one for Hawthorne and Lilith, and Here is the one for Nevaeh. I really enjoyed Baldur's Gate 3 and it is 100% my game of the year. It scratched an itch brought upon by a lack of D&D, and I appreciate it for that.
As I mentioned above, I'm hoping for TTRPGs next year I can better take advantage of one-off and short adventures that do not require the entire table to be present. Hoping the pattern of less tabletops each subsequent years does not continue. Here's wishing for more D&D with friends next year. It made me so sad when after the race everyone was running to see and celebrating and not far away Nick's car was just sitting alone in its empty pit garage. I really hope people don't forget how brilliant and gutsy Nick has been this entire sesson even though he doesn’t have a wdc to back it up. I truly believe he had a very good chance of winning it if he wasn't taken out in Rome R2 and London R1. Lady Luck really do be a cruel mistress sometimes.
He completely won me over in Berlin R2 when he volunteered to lead while all the others were trying to tuck behind to save energy. I will be cheering for him tomorrow and cheering for him always. Nervous about him having to compete with Mitch in Jaguar (which is essentially Mitch's team and that second seat is no less cursed than RBR or ART) next season but if anyone can do it it'd be Nick.
Anyway I'm still processing what just occured this afternoon so I'm currently a huge mess. The things motorsport just do to me smh

Talking about rambling, I recently got into Disventure Camp bc they're remaking their first season and I'm kind of in love with it but also shaking in my boots at the same time.
I knew about this project back when the second season was still in the making, but I never got into it bc the characters just didn't click with me, you know? But I decided to finally give sesson 2 a go, now that I'm following the remake of the first one.
And the fandom might tear me apart for this, but season 2 has some...problems. And I don't mean like animation errors or something like that. It is actually very well made, and the team improved so much as the season progressed. You can clearly see the improvement in the season 1 remake, which I will stop praising for now.
Keep in mind, I haven't finished the second season yet, but my biggest issues so far is the relationship between Aiden and James. James is just an ass tbh and I don't get why people root for him. Maybe there is a reason and I just didn't get to that episode yet, who even knows? But yeah, Aiden deserves better.
If the team made them a toxic couple on purpose to add to the whole reality show thing, then props to them. But it seems like they're really pushing the narrative that these two are actually compatible with each other. Plus, they did the same thing with Tom and Jake back in season 1. They made Jake toxic asf only for him to end up with Tom. But I think they decided not to go down that route again with the remake, so thank god for that. Also, did I mention how good the remake is? Just saying.
But yeah, this relationship just doesn't sit right with me. And from what I heard, another problematic relationship will appear later on. Idk, to be fair I like the season 1 remake better. I appreciate the team's effort into making the characters seem more human by giving them more realistic struggles and so on, but some of them were just too much and dare I say too edgy (back in season 1 and 2). But this is just my personal opinion. And it seems like they toned it down a notch with the remake.
Also, this might be controversial, but I do not care for Krystal's storyline in the second season. Girl, I'm sorry you have daddy issues but please get tf off my screen, I'm trying to look at Hunter. I mean, trying to watch the show.

I feel both that the 2013/4 Dracula TV show was terrible and did not deserve a second sesson while also feeling that Katie McGrath was the best cast for Lucy Westenra I have ever seen and that we were ROBBED by not getting to see her play Vampire Lucy in season 2 - and I’m not sure how to reconcile these two ideas

Second, if you really want to insist w12 was faster than redbull when w12 is literally w11 with duct tape and prayers and without merc using any tokens on her...... maybe you ought to be embarrassed by the team you support for having lost the constructors to last sesson's butchered merc car. And oh, Lewis is such a brilliant driver that he managed to convince the lot of you that w12 (w11 unwanted step child) was faster than M*x's car. Very sexy of him.

summary: Bokuto and reader aren’t offically dating but are attached at the hip. During a game you refocus him after goes into an emo mode by promising him something special in return for a win.

a/n : I dont think there are any gender pronouns in here so it should be gender neutral
Fukurōdani was losing. The first set was a close one but ultimately got claimed by their opponent. Now well into the second set and their opponent was nearly at set point and they were still lagging behind. Bokuto was growing irritated and angry and his spikes were getting rougher and rough when he fianlly missed on of akaashi’s sets by a mile. Cue melodramatic temper tantrum. While the team was used to these fits, right now was not the time they could afford to be a player down. Coach quickly subbed in another player, pulling Bokuto out.
“I got this one.” I said to Coach while standing up from the bench to go deal with him.
“Y/N I’m a failur-“ his comment was cut off with a slap upside the head. Which was a little harder than intended and got a lot more eyes on us than I had anticipated. However, it worked. Now bokuto was out of depressed emo mode and was now just dazed.
“How about you go out there and win the set and then the next,” I said whispering in his ear, “and afterward you’ll get a special reward.” At the suggestive comment the fire was back into Bokuto eyes.
“Oh yeah? What kind of special reward we talking?” His eyebrows bounced suggestively and he made direct eye contact with you.
“You’re just going to have to find out.” With the you rocked up onto your tippy toes and placed a kiss on his cheek. His hands immediately rested on your waist. When you stepped back you nodded to the coach and a whistle blew getting him subbed back in. A whole new spark of determination about him now.
The two of you had been dancing around each other for over a year now. Many people thought you were already dating and were shocked to discover you were actually just friends. However anyone could see the way you spoiled Bokuto much more during practice than any of the other players.
In no time Bokuto had pushed his team up to set point and took the second set. He was now prepping for the final set and was still just a fired up as before. You were pretty sure his blocks were a good few inches higher than usual as well. He was now not only fighting for for the honor of his team and the chance to play another game but also the added incentive of this promised special reward. Before you knew it the final set was coming to a close as well with Fukurōdani coming out victorious. The team all cheered and hugged their ace. Bokuto then came running over to you and scooped you up into his arms and spun you around. The special reward not being mentioned but definitely not forgotten. The team grouped back together to finish off their match officially and then they were on the bus.
You finally arrived back at the school and were waiting outside the locker room. The last person had just come out and left leaving only Bokuto in there. You took a moment to shake the nerves off and pushed into the room. Bokuto’s hands were on you as soon as you were in the room. He spun you around and gently pressed you into the row of lockers. His hands dug into your waist, the room was thick with anticipation. You lift a hand up and trace his jaw line. The two of you unconsciously moved forward to where your noses were just touching.
“I really want to kiss you.” Bokuto said staring only at your lips.
“Do it.” The words had barely left your mouth before he was kissing you. An entire year of flirty comments poured into this one kiss. His hands came up to hold your face. At the same time he tilts his head deepening the kiss. At this you put your hands on his chest and push him backward, he looks panicked and confused for a moment. You push him back again until he hits the bench behind him and is sits down on it. When he realizes what you’re doing he is even more turned on. You climb into his lap, straddling him, and go straight back to kiss him. The passion only building. His fingertips now digging into your thighs. The two of you stay like that for a good while.
That special reward was well worth the wait.
