I just couldn't make up my mind on some of these #I spent way too much time overanalyzing the casual sweaters/jumpers. I was trying to only show each one once but then just gave up #deep dived research on the Todd Snyder site that's the kind of overanalyzing that happened #there is a lot of lighting messing with colors and for sure there are some repeats in this but whatever #I had this idea way back when we saw the variety of color sweaters/jumpers for S3 #but after the end of S3 I lost a lot of feelings for this show #my motivation for giffing this show is not so strong anymore but there is a part of me that still wants to maybe try a layout set #I'm thinking of doing all 3 seasons and just an overall sweater/jumper encompassing gifset. both the work and casual together #kind of meh on how some of these turned out ¯\_(ツ)_/¯#it might be the added switch to the new editor and that all of these have been turned into gifv nonsense #also couldn't get the caption font to do what I wanted in html or at least it looked alright in drafts but not in preview #PS: thank you talldecafcappuccino for reading/helping with my color debate/same vs not same sweater/jumper nonsense

I think the thing that's really bothered me and made me drift from CR in the past few months is just how rushed it's felt. I truly don't know if it's because the cast are tired of doing this after years, if Matt's tired of DMing after years, or if they thought a faster paced campaign would be better but personally I have not been fully vibing with it since the start.

The fact that a character tied to VM was introduced as their guide in the first episode, already distracting from the story because everyone was going crazy for more VM cameos. That he died in episode 3 and they named their group after this stranger who knew them for 72 hours. This felt like Matt trying to recreate the heartbreak of losing a party member in C2, but because it was a scripted death from a character that was only around for 3 episodes and had made almost no meaningful connections to others in the group, it didn't feel that impactful.

The What The Fuck Is Up With That game took away so much from finding out the characters backstory slowly. C2 characters were so cagey about their backstories, it was a treat to find out more things. I don't think we even found out about Caleb's real training until episode 60? But with C3, suddenly we have most of the characters revealing their backstory or at least big chunks of their backstory by episode 6.

That they were pushed into finally choosing a group name when, at least for M9, the name came more naturally.

The fact that it seems like the big bad has already been revealed and they've been working on taking them down for over 40 episodes now. C2 Big Bad was revealed after episode 100. (I'm hoping this is all a red herring and the real big bad will come later but it's hard to top Evil Moon as the big bad)

I haven't watched C3 since episode 76 but downtime was so little last I watched, it felt like M9 got a lot more downtime to fuck around and have these deep and funny moments. Idk it all feels rushed to me and it's been hard trying to stick with it.

I really hope that if we get Campaign 4, we have a similar structure to C2. More downtime, less immediate backstory reveals, AND especially not doing constant callbacks to C1. Having VM get involved is cool for fans of C1, but even with how little Matt has them do, it still feels like they're supervising BH. BH are supposed to come into being heroes in their own right but it feels like so much of C3 since VM was introduced has been BH looking up at VM like "is this okay? Should we do this? How can we save the world like you guys did?"

#i honestly would've stopped watching sooner but i was hoping it would get better #it's not a bad campaign its just.#like. you know how shows now have 10 episodes per season now #so its all rushed and not as much time is given for other stuff #this is what c3 feels like to me #i feel bad bc i keep seeing people saying the misogynists from c1 are back #and i want to support the girls but at the same time c3 has been meh for me #i think i will have to rewatch c2 maybe its not as great as I remember (it was)#by the way i realize how INSANE it is to say a campaign with 80 episodes all over 3 hours long has been rushed and yet #critical role

The only good thing about forcing myself to finally sit and finish watching The Flash, is seeing Caitlin come back. God the pain that was, and the deep, long rants I can go on about what they did with her character. Isn’t it lovely that we have no character development in the whole last season for a character we followed since season one? So much fun that was. Ugh. The only redemption it has is bringing her back because you best believe the rage in me. I jumped up when she appeared. The only excitement I had in those last 4 eps lol. Like watching this show was fun when her character was doing interesting things. Especially when Frost was still in the picture. Then they fucked that up only to then burn the rest of it. Which isn’t surprising; we’re talking about writers that clearly gave zero fucks, but mate, why?? Anyway, finished the show. So yay to that.

#I watched and followed the show while it was airing and then just stopped with keeping up to date because it felt meh #this season especially was hard and I did just speed through some but because it was dead #I was on the plane ride to Canada with nothing better to do but literally sit and watch and I could only do like 3 eps #mainly because I didn’t want to finish it on a plane but at home comfy #but also some of the story just had me annoyed #the flash #caitlin snow #and obvs I grinned like an idiot at the Barry moments with Cait at the end

this might be me jumping the gun but i’m so impressed by the fact that david jenkins can write so many queer and femme characters so well. we’ve seen how other shows with straight writers treat these types of characters (cough good omens cough) and jenkins really seems to care

it’s because the only straight people in the show are the king’s royal navy lol

truthfully, our flag means death is a queer utopia. every single character is queer in that they are functioning in some way outside of society’s norm. that’s why they’re pirates to begin with. in that respect, writing queer characters becomes extremely straightforward (heh) because the parameters of the fictional world they’re created within all but birth them itself automatically. to cite the example you gave, that butts up against good omens because good omens is not a queer utopia, it is queerness purposefully stifled, in response to not allowing that utopia to grow to begin with both from the oppressing systems and the queer leads themselves

but like that’s not to take props away from david jenkins, he’s written a beautiful show and is clearly very talented. but when every character HAS to be queer it’s very easy to function within that world rather than up against it, or in response to it. you literally can’t write a character that isn’t queer, and them being good or bad or poorly written or WHATEVER just shows the nuance rarely afforded to queers in media when there’s only one or two in a single piece. the quality of those rare few end up defining the queerness in that piece, always for worse because it lacks realistic diversity

instead, we GET the diversity. we get a variety and that variety shapes the fictional world we’re consuming. it’s believable by nature. anyway renew ofmd s3

#still meh about parts of the first 3 eps tho so i’m hoping the season fixes some of that #at the same time. brain worms have definitely taken root #ofmd #moonyinpisces

ANTI-social is Fine.#9 has a stretch of 3 eps i enjoy and then the rest are meh #15 got fucked over because i. absolutely fucking adore the ireland eps. so much #and even roller rink i enjoyed on its own. its fun if you consider it noncanon. botched continuity and retconning piss me off but.#i dont care for the first two eps of 15 at all though and there are Less eps to like in 15 (because less overall) than smthn like s3
