Left Behind 03 By Jeff Stanford, 2024 Buy prints at: https://jeff-stanford.pixels.com/
An elderly man with deeply wrinkled skin peers curiously from behind a decrepit wooden structure. His eyes convey a sense of intensity and scrutiny, highlighted by the stark black and white contrast.

[ID: A digital repainting of Fuseli’s Nightmare, where an incubus sits heavily on the chest of a sleeping woman, a dark horse peeking in with white eyes, but replacing the demon and the horse with Jonathan Sims, The Archivist. Every part of The Archivist that is in the shadows is covered with eyes. He is speaking into a tape recorder, expression somewhat scared and monstrous. On the bedside table is a cassette tape. A hand with no clear source is grabbing the ankle of the sleeper.
The two other images are details from the painting. Signed: Meaningless Mikhaïl. End ID.]
GUYS.
LOOK WHAT I DID.
THE ARCHIVIST. SCRUTINY. THE SIGHTMARE. HE’S ALL EYES. I AM SO FUNNY HAHA.
This was just a funny thought at first and then... yeah, it happened. I don’t think I ever painted this way digitally and I am entirely too proud of this. This started as a high-effort shitpost but now it’s... this thing.
And I know I could go on painting (and should, some details do deserve more attention), but I am kind of exhausted, and impatient, so.

The belief that all lower-class women were sexually active meant that working class women friends were suspected of sexual activity, and from 1700 single women friendships came under scrutiny and suspicion. Working-class women living and working together could be separated by the labour laws, which allowed magistrates to rule how and where women worked. Four women at South Milton, Devon, who had been self-sufficient in a spinning house together, were ordered to go into domestic service, where they would almost certainly be separated.

Scrutiny
- written by Minerva Cerridwen; photo by Ava Kelly
For ten years the humans had schemed, constructed, and carefully coaxed, and now they’d achieved their goal. Under the guise of a furniture-building company, they were finally invited in the realm of the gods to deliver the new cabinet they had designed: fit to hold divine ideas and otherworldly suggestions in a neat system of transparent folders. What was much more important, at least to the humans behind this great plan, were the loads of cameras, microphones, and wiretap installations integrated everywhere in, on, and around the cabinet.
They had spent so much time praying for a sign. If the gods weren’t going to send any clear answers on what the Right Way was for them to live, the humans would simply force them to reveal their secrets.
The employees who made the delivery didn’t get to spend much time in the godly realm, as the filing cabinet had been meticulously prepared and was easy to assemble—but that didn’t matter, because they would soon learn much more about that mysterious place anyway. The recording came through, clear and uninterrupted, and at first it was just a series of exclamations from the gods about how beautiful the cabinet was, how much easier the new filing system would make their work.
But then one of the gods introduced the first suggestion that would be placed into the folders: “You know how humans think we can constantly see everything they are doing? Maybe it’d be a good idea to actually start spying on them, if they’re coming up with such wonderful inventions. I’m sure we could learn a lot!”
[Image description: On a background of slightly wrinkled white sheets of paper, there is a smattering of long, silvery steel nails and very-dark-red glass spheres; white light falls onto the objects in such a way that bright red shadows from the spheres contrast with the black shadows of the nails and paper wrinkles.]

George took my face in his hands. He leaned backward and narrowed his eyes in mock scrutiny. 'You'll do,' he said. 'It's all there.' 'What's all there?' 'Everything I want.'

Hey guys,
you might wonder why I put these three together? Well, for me this is Fireman’s Olympics discussion set, beginning from the start to the near end. I know it’s not all but bare with me.
I’d feel the same like Johnny as to have not run for a long time. Chet and Roy beg to get him running and all. Aw, poor man but at least he’s tried it out but well, his toes and legs scream in protest. lol

Perception of Shakespeare
In today's culture, Shakespeare is known as one of the greatest authors in history. During his lifespan, however, there was much controversy on his public appeal. Within Robert Greene's From Groatsworth of Wit in 1592, the negative connotation of Shakespeare is publicized. By referencing Shakespeare's previous career as an actor, the author is skeptic on his credibility and academics. Scholars have very limited knowledge on Shakespeare's background, so as a result examine pieces such as these. In my onion, it appears that Greene, similar to the color of his name, is envious of Shakespeare's abilities.
In spite of what Greene thought of Shakespeare, by the time his passing came, Shakespeare was still considered filled with wealth. In compilation with his scrutiny from society, we as an audience can take what Shakespeare has said in his sonnets to reflect off of his life. Notably, in Sonnet 111, Shakespeare reflects off of his fame and the consequences that have come of it.
He writes:
O, for my sake do you with Fortune chide,
The guilty goddess of my harmful deeds,
That did not better for my life provide
Than public means which public manners breeds. (lines 1-4)
He additionally writes:
Pity me then, dear friend, and I assure ye
Even that your pity is enough to cure me. (lines 13-14)
From these passages, the reader is able to gather that although Shakespeare is a sensation, he struggles with the inner workings of his own identity. Similar to pop culture today, Shakespeare was certainly scrutinized and suffered with a sense of self.
SONG OF THE DAY: In comparison to a modern day example, Taylor Swift's "mirrorball" reflects off of constantly putting on a show for an audience.
