I get the sense: It is one thing for middle class suburbans to proudly say: “I am pro life.” Another thing when they hear a 10 year old pregnant rape victim has to leave a state to get treatment. Or a woman with a bad miscarriage has to be literally on the verge of death before hospital lawyers (after hours of deliberation) say they can treat her.
Conservatives and Scotus did not plan for this utter fucking shit show.

A central Indiana man accused of murdering his wife and dumping her body in a creek in March has won a Republican primary election for township board in the state – from jail.
Andrew Wilhoite, 40, of Lebanon received 60 of the 276 total votes on Tuesday for Republicans for three positions on the Clinton Township Board, Boone county election results showed.
Wilhoite was arrested in late March in connection with the death of 41-year-old Elizabeth “Nikki” Wilhoite, whom, the authorities suspect, was killed by a blow from a gallon-sized concrete flower pot, the Indianapolis Star reports.
He has been held since then in the Boone county jail without bond, charged with murder.
Indiana police allege Andrew Wilhoite struck Nikki Wilhoite in the head with a blunt object, knocking her out.
He then put her in a vehicle and drove to a creek a few miles from their home and dumped her body there after dropping it from a bridge, police allege.
Police found Nikki Wilhoite’s body on 26 March partially submerged in about three feet of water.
Court records indicate Nikki Wilhoite filed for divorce on 17 March. The couple had been married for 12 years.
Andrew Wilhoite’s jury trial is scheduled for 29 August, court records show.
If he is convicted of a felony before the 8 November general election, he would automatically be removed from the ballot. No Democrats have filed for the board.
“Under our legal system, every person is innocent until proven guilty,” said Brad King, co-director of the Indiana Election Division.
A message seeking further comment was left on Friday by the Associated Press for Wilhoite’s attorney.
The township board has three members and only three people stood for election.
Nikki Wilhoite was reported missing on 25 March after failing to report for work.

In light of the News-
I am saying this as an AFAB person who no longer has a uterus due to cancer and has no ability to bear children at this point in time:
This is the time to remember that the last time we didn’t have abortion rights in this country there wasn’t a 24/7 electronic tracker in every afab person’s pocket.
DO NOT TALK ABOUT YOUR PLANS ON THE INTERNET. DO NOT TALK ABOUT YOUR PLANS VIA TEXT OR PHONE CALL.
Look up VPNs and who, where, and how they share your data. If you have a “women’s health” appointment in the near future, GO. Talk to your providers about permanent/semi-permanent birth control while you can. If you can, use a different internet source altogether if you have to access these.
r/Childfree has a list of doctors by state and province that are willing to sterilize you, give you an IUD, salpingectomy, etc.
There is also AidAccess, AuntieNetwork, and your local abortion fund.
REMEMBER: there are currently legal, safe ways of terminating a pregnancy. DO NOT TELL VULNERABLE PEOPLE TO TAKE HERBS. They WILL be doing toxicology testing, and the currently available legal drugs do not show up. It looks like a naturally occuring miscarriage. TELL YOUR PROVIDERS you are experiencing a miscarriage. It is the truth!
We do not have to go back to wire coat hangers and dangerous life-endangering methods at this point. Use the resources available to you, wherever possible.
---
Currently 13 states have trigger laws that go into effect the MOMENT Roe V Wade falls, and between 24-28 are planning to ban abortion altogether if Roe v Wade is overturned. There are a LOT of laws based on Roe, and our right to privacy in our own homes is under fire because of this. Certain laws were mentioned BY NAME in the opinion leak, so do not believe that this is an AFAB-Only issue. IT IS NOT.

Thinking about how that first draft was circulated February 10. Thinking about how it was brought to the press almost 3 months later. Thinking about how if it was a liberal staffer they might have leaked it after the vote back in Feb. Thinking about how long it might have taken for Roberts to decide where he stood on this one. Thinking about the theory that someone might have leaked the decision to pressure him not to change his vote. Thinking that Fox might stop focusing on the leak if the draft turns out to be from a conservative justice's staff.

"Stick In The Vacuum"
I came up with the idea for this comic right when the Roe v. Wade leak happened last year. I thought it was weird it happened the same week as Mothers Day.

Kash’s Corner: SCOTUS Leak; New DHS Disinformation Chief Under Fire; Durham Wins Key Motion | TEASER
What will be the consequences of the leak of the Supreme Court’s draft opinion on Roe v. Wade? What form should a proper investigation take?
What will be the role of the new Disinformation Governance Board under the Department of Homeland Security? Its new head, Nina Jankowicz, is under fire for past comments she’s made, including citing Christopher Steele’s “expertise” on the evolution of disinformation and questioning the authenticity of the Hunter Biden laptop.
And what might be contained in the documents that ex-Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann and other Clinton campaign associates are trying to keep from special counsel John Durham?
We discuss all these questions and more in this episode of Kash’s Corner.

Members of Congress reintroduced legislation Thursday that would create a code of ethical conduct for the Supreme Court, adding to pressure on a court facing criticism over high-profile leaks and conflicts of interest.
The congressional action comes after the American Bar Association on Monday adopted a resolution urging the Supreme Court to enact a code of judicial ethics similar to what judges in lower courts are beholden to.
“The absence of a clearly articulated, binding code of ethics for the justices of the Court imperils the legitimacy of the Court,” the ABA wrote.
Senators cited the role of Justice Clarence Thomas’ wife, Ginni Thomas, in the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection, as well as the leaked draft opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization that overturned Roe v. Wade in June 2022, and “concerning credible reports” that Justice Samuel Alito was involved in leaking information, as reasons why the court’s legitimacy is under threat and reform is needed.
Besides the high-profile examples, Justices “have also filed inaccurate financial disclosures, attended partisan events, and accepted travel and lodging paid for by political advocacy organizations with business before the court,” Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and others wrote in a press release for the Supreme Court Ethics Act.
Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) reintroduced the Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal, and Transparency Act as companion legislation in the House.
“The Supreme Court is one of the nation’s most vital institutions, so people are justifiably shocked when they learn that there is no code of conduct for the Supreme Court, even though there is for every other federal judge and member of Congress,” said Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), the top Democrat in the House Judiciary Committee, in the press release.
This isn’t the first time the Court has been under scrutiny over the issue. Justice Elena Kagan said at a House budget hearing in 2019 that Chief Justice John Roberts was studying the possibility of an ethics code and there were “pros and cons,” but it was “being thought very seriously about.”
The issue remains under study and consideration at the court, The New York Times and CNN reported Thursday, citing anonymous court sources. HuffPost has reached out to the Supreme Court for comment.
In 2011, Roberts wrote that the Supreme Court was unique and pushed back against having a code of conduct apply to it.
“All Members of the Court do in fact consult the Code of Conduct in assessing their ethical obligations,” he wrote, saying that the code for lower court judges is one of the tools that justices use for guidance.
He also said that Supreme Court Justices consider recusing themselves from cases, but unlike lower courts, there is no higher court to review their decisions, and also no pool of other judges to fill in since there are only nine justices.
Brian Fallon of Demand Justice, a group seeking to reform the Supreme Court, told MSNBC that the reintroduced Senate legislation to have justices follow the code of ethics for lower courts is the “least we can do,” but the Supreme Court won’t go for it.
“Because they think they should be above reproach, they won’t surrender the power to any outside entity or official to do the enforcing of that code of ethics,” he said.

The so-called 'investigation' didn't even include requiring the Justices to sign a sworn affidavit that they didn't leak the document.
It would be a touch embarrassing for a Justice to have to plead the Fifth, no? Can't have that...
