Hey so for those who have deleted wattpad or don’t use it let me tell you what I just opened the ad to…
How the hell are you gonna remove a dam yeastier for everyone but boys that message you now!! What the heck?!? And then not announce it anywhere else but on the app for your phone only!!
Look I was okay with the ads increasing on there over the years because that’s how websites are. I was okay with memberships to read the hardcore stories being made into movies, because hey it’s a great way for a publisher to get discovered! I was okay with a lot of changes even the fact you can’t open the website or even the app without 5 ads being seen. But dms?!? Like that’s one of the 5 main features left! And the only thing the wattpad bot sends now is spam on hey would you like premium for $5.99 a month? Like next thing you know you won’t be able to comment on a story more than 5 times a day or something without premium, or you won’t be able to have more than two library lists or something.
I get why every fanfic writer is going to AO3 now though, cause hardly anything changes over there and god knows there’s hell of a lot less ads!

Not literally, perhaps; but it was in his aura; the very way he stood; a pillar of stern confidence, the very picture of wealthy grace. His robes nearly touched the floor; made of exquisite black material that framed his abdomen but tapered out towards his limbs.
His arms were folded behind his back as he peered at the display. The porcelain in question was nothing special, (at least not by magical standards), but they had his attention nonetheless.
Actually, Ozai hated it. He found history pointless; yes, perhaps studying ancient techniques and philosophy could be useful, but why would anyone want some pieces of junk that were hundreds of years old?
But his brother enjoyed it, which meant his father enjoyed it, which meant Ozai was here.

AITA for telling someone that roleplays are a two-way street and refusing to re-engage with them?
Occasionally, if I'm in the mood to write but I don't really know what, I'll browse ship tags on Omegle. Its become synonymous for roleplays, and I've found its (typically) pretty fun.
As with every social thing, there's the odd... Less than pleasant experience. Last night was one such experience. I connected to someone on a ship tag, they sent a prompt, and it was actually a pretty interesting one, so I responded.
It was an AU prompt, but I generally kept my characterisation as close to the character's canon as I could, while still matching it to roughly what someone's personality in that profession and location would be.
(E.g; if the character was a proper old-country style cowboy, or a socially awkward secretary, ect.)
It became very clear, very fast, that the other person had very, very specific ideas about the roleplay, what happens, what my character was supposed to say/do, ect. To the point where (as I later told them) they should've just written fanfic so they had complete control.
Near enough every time I responded, they'd "correct" it or argue against it both in character and in brackets as themselves. For example if I noted something about the background or story of my character, theirs would immediately say "no that's not what happened" or they'd say [hey actually can you change that, it doesn't fit/I don't like it/its not what I envisioned].
After about fifteen minutes of this I got incredibly vexed and decided I was done. I don't mind a roleplay having certain goals/main points/guidelines, but they were literally trying to control every tiny aspect of what I did. So I sent them this:
[I'm sorry, the RP sounded interesting in the prompt you sent, but its rapidly becoming clear you don't actually want a roleplay, you want to be the sole one dictating everything that happens. Honestly I think its best you turn this idea into a fanfic and not a roleplay. It kills off any enjoyment of the roleplay when I have you contradicting every tiny detail I include or dictating what I'm allowed to do or say. I'm not going to sit there waiting for you to approve of everything I intend to say. Thank you for your time, but good night.]
I disconnected, and decided I'd spend another fifteen minutes browsing the tag before I did something else. Well apparently, the other person decided they were going to spend fifteen minutes stalking the tag trying to find me again, spamming every connection with messages ranging from extreme insults and threats to demands I 'speak up again, bitch, I wanna talk' and so forth. After connecting to them for the tenth time, I sent:
[I'm not going to re-engage with you. I said what I did, and frankly, it was a valid statement. If you can't handle the fact that roleplaying means a 50/50 creative allowance with someone else, and that you can't micro-manage or bulldoze every single detail, then you shouldn't roleplay. Frankly, knowing how vile you can be from simple criticism, I'm glad I disconnected. Take a breather and re-evaluate yourself. I'd be embarrassed.]
Well. This morning I logged onto Tumblr and after some browsing, I actually came across them again. Here. By means of a post where they included screenshots of everything and are even going so far as threatening to stalk Tumblr and AO3 to 'match up the writing' so they can find me and presumably say their piece or whatever.
I talked to a friend about it, and surprisingly, they think I'm an asshole. Not for what I said in the first place, but for not re-approaching the other person (through DMs) so they'll stop filling the ship's tag with negative stuff. (They've made 3 posts about it all so far.)
I don't want to do that because it means opening up my private social media to this obviously unhinged individual. I know I can expect to be spammed, sent hate mail, have them try to track down my other socials, ect. I could make an alt account for it, but honestly that's effort I don't see the point in making. If they can't let this go, its not my problem.
AITA? Should I make an alt account just to let them get it out of their system? I don't know how to proceed with this.

That discord server post made me remember the stark difference between Serverstuck (a minor populated server) and Degrees of Lewdity (strict adult-only server)
Serverstuck has the worst mods and owner I've seen because they're all Antis and abuse the rules by excusing anyone who are close to them & punishing others who are strangers, lying to people on why some got banned, and allowed sensitive political topic go unregulated
Degrees of Lewdity, despite filled with people who has crude & cursed-level sense of humor, has strict mods & owner, write the correct information on why some people are banned or muted (they even allow users to request to be ban from the server for mental health reasons), and immediately shut down any conversation of sensitive political topics that cause infighting between members
I feel safer in a server for an adult game development than a "minor friendly" homestuck rp server
While I do welcome servers that have a mixed age range, I don't think I've ever or will ever join a server moderated or owned by someone who is either/both an anti or a minor.
To run or moderate a server you need to be impartial, objective, socially aware, able to appropriately manage conflict and relatively socially seasoned. I've personally found most minors often lack or are incapable of most if not all of these qualities.
(And that's not me hating on minors or calling them ignorant. Some of those qualities are just things you learn or develop with age and time. Some adults never learn them at all, even, but they are qualities you need if you're going to, essentially, be in charge of other people.)
Sephiroth's Server Safety Tips
Always do a thorough check into who is advertising the server, who owns the server, and other members before joining a server where possible.
Once you've joined the server, immediately use the search function to look for key words related to topics you want to avoid, possible past conflict, bullying, ect.
Immediately check the server rules. Its a red flag in itself if the server doesn't have any. Also, 'just be nice' is not a rule. Servers should have clear, clean cut rules and regulations.
Don't be afraid to message server owners, moderators or users privately and ask questions. They shouldn't get offended and if they can't or won't answer questions about basic rules, server safety protocols, ect, you should reconsider joining.
Don't be afraid to ask around other people to see if the server is known or has a reputation, either. If a server is based on a specific fandom, for example, search through that fandom for any past mentions of the server or ask other fans if they've heard of it.

TUTORIAL: using discord webhooks to get tumblr notifications in discord
hello everyone !! i’ve been using discord webhooks to get notifications in a channel of a personal server when i receive a new reply, ask, mention, or follower on any of my rp or personal accounts. you are also able to read the received asks, replies, and mentions you get right in the discord channel.
as someone with a fair number of separate tumblr accounts, it’s been a great feature to avoid having multiple windows or tumblr sessions open at once while still being aware of new activity on all my tumblr blogs.
it’s super easy to set up and requires only very basic knowledge of tumblr and discord !! the tutorial walks you through every step and shouldn’t take longer than 5-10 minutes at most to set up ( depending on how many blogs you are linking ).

GETTING STARTED
this integration is extremely easy and straightforward to set up, especially if you’re already familiar with discord !! you do not need discord nitro or anything special in discord for this to work.
first and foremost, you will need a “personal server” in discord so you can set the channel where you will receive your notifications. the way i have mine set up is a category dedicated to webhooks and a channel for each muse or account. if you are using this to pull in asks from an rp main or other shared account, you could also pull the notifications into your ooc server in a private admin-only channel.
create the channel you want your notifications to go to BEFORE proceeding.
ON DISCORD
in your personal server ( or the server you will be pulling the notifications into ), right click on the server name to head to server settings > integrations > webhooks.
click “New Webhook” and you will see the default webhook set up. this page is also where you can return to later and adjust any of your existing webhook settings if needed (eg. post to a different channel, change a webhook icon) or delete a webhook if it is no longer needed.
you can set your webhook icon and name ( again, i usually correspond this to the particular muse the webhook will be used for ), and then select the channel you want your notifications to go to from the drop down.
you can have ONE webhook for each blog ( sideblogs can be separated out ) if you wish. at this time for a single blog you cannot have different notification types or on a post-by-post basis post to different discord channels as a blog can only use one webhook at a time (and therefore must post to the same channel).
i currently have one webhook for each rp account i have that each post to their own channel, as well as several webhooks which collect any asks i receive on my personal non-rp accounts and post to the same channel.
you can have multiple webhooks post to the same channel by selecting the same channel in the webhook setup or use the same webhook across multiple blogs by pasting the same webhook url into each separate blog ( but it will look the same for all of them, of course ).
once your webhook looks like you want it to, click “Copy Webhook URL”.
HEAD TO TUMBLR
this integration is part of tumblr labs so you need to make sure you have those enabled. on your account, head to settings > labs. toggle on “Enable Tumblr Labs”.
scroll to the bottom and toggle on “Tumblr to Discord Webhooks”.
head to the settings of the blog or sideblog you want to link the webhook to ( the same place where you can control your ask box, who can message you, your url, etc ). scroll to the bottom and there is new section called “Discord Notifications” !!
08/10/23 edit: some users have reported that the “Discord Notifications” section does not always show up immediately. the settings page needs to completely refresh for the section to show, so first try manually refreshing the settings page. if this does not work, toggle the tumblr to discord webhooks off and on and refresh. it has reportedly always shown up with a little time and persistence.
paste the Webhook URL you copied from discord in the text field and then toggle the items that you wish to receive notifications for in discord.
09/10/23 edit: if you receive an error saying the webhook url is not valid upon pasting it into the entry box, make sure the webhook url uses ‘discord.com’ and not ‘discordapp.com‘. the webhook should look like: https://discord.com/api/webhooks/<insert long series of numbers here>/<insert long series of upper and lowercase letters>. updating your discord app is also recommended if you have not done so recently.
in order, i am receiving notifications on : any new followers, any new asks, any new reblogs ( replies or if someone reblogs a promo or otherwise ), any new replies ( if someone comments on a post of mine ), and any new mentions (if someone @’s you in a post). in the next section, i have pasted screenshots of what each notification looks like in the discord channel.
12/29/23 edit: you still receive a notification in discord when you reply if you wrote the starter ( even though tumblr has removed activity notifications when you interact with your own posts ). i have also noticed that sometimes two simultaneous notifications will come in for your partner’s reply if you wrote the starter ( eg. your partner’s reply shows twice on discord ).
this ends the tutorial — you should be all ready to go !! feel free to send yourself an ask or follow one of your own blogs to test it out.
WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE IN USE...
in general you are told who the notification is from, and if there is something new to read, it is displayed !! where applicable, the top text in blue is a hyperlink directly to the post it is notifying you of !!

NEW REBLOG ( a reply ): if using the Legacy editor with editable reblogs, your reply will show first (shown in yellow bracket), followed by your partner’s reply (shown here in red bracket). unfortunately, formatting & blockquotes don’t come through, but it works in a pinch if you don’t want to log in to read the reply !!
with the beta editor + trim reblogs, you will just see your partner’s new reply ( not your own ). formatting still doesn’t come through, but everything is readable!
A MENTION: you are told who mentioned you in the post or comment as well as the comment or post itself. you can click the blue link text at the top to be brought right to the relevant post! (as of 02.23.24. it seems notifications for mentions in posts are broken though they still work when you are mentioned in a comment. i have sent a ticket to staff notifying them of this ).

I have been rping as a hobby for almost two decades. I have been on tumblr rp for over a decade. I have hopped fandoms over the years and I've lost friends. Most have just drifted apart, which is fine, but I have never been hounded like I was in my last fandom. I received so many harassing anons and messages. I had a fallout with someone in a matter that should have remained private and was,frankly, no one's business. My name got smeared across the fandom and people were quick to judge instead of getting my side of things. Most were on my side ooc, but then in public they wouldn't openly defend me and remained 'neutral' with people who actively hated me. I was basically slung around by the community 'morality police' who pat themselves on the back that they got rid of me. You can't remain neutral in this. You're either with the harassers or you're not. You're either on my side or you're not.
Many just drifted away from me over the months. I was completely ostracized, so much so I haven't actively rped in months. I was just a 'bad egg'. Even those who said they'd remain my friends have just drifted away because I'm not rping anymore.
All I've learned over this ordeal is that tumblr rp friendships are superficial. People only care about you if you have something they want and aren't in it for the long haul. It sucks because this has been my favorite rp platform for years and now I just don't know if I can do it anymore.

A love for all things Green (A closed RP with @a-fantastic-time)
Starfire had been frustrated at her first love and the leader of the Titans; Nightwing claimed to love her and only her, but recently he had been having to go on private weekend missions deep into Gotham City and refused to tell anyone about them. That was why the Tamaranian princess stole Richard's communicator and found several messages between himself and his former lover, Barbara Gordan. They were explicit and each was sent just before or just after those 'private, solo missions' that Richard had to take.
She had confronted him, but the dark-haired hero claimed that she was simply misunderstanding things, before accusing her of cheating on him because why else would she be stealing and going through his belongings. Those remarks left a painful sting of betrayal in Starfire's heart that she couldn't bear to look at him and ran deep into the Tower.
The princess now searched for a good friend, someone she could cry to and rely on to give her the necessary guidance after experiencing such a harsh fight and a deep betrayal. She found herself at the door of her close friend Beastboy; the automated sheet of reinforced steel being the only thing between her and the comfort of his humour and his heartfelt words. Starfire tried to open the door and found it locked, which did not deter her as Beastboy had given her his emergency override code and quickly punched it in.
She heard a subdued grunt as she entered the darkened quarters of her jade-skinned friend and turned to see the source of the noise. Coming face to face with her friend, bottomless, with both his hands feverishly working one of the largest cocks the alien warrior had ever seen. She watched in silence as he bucked into his own hands and hissed under his breath, her eyes following the throbbing cockhead as drool softly spilled from it.
Starfire had found herself feeling a heat growing inside her as she watched Beastboy please himself. If Richard can fuck some Gotham whore on the weekends, I don't see why I can't fuck a teammate whenever I want Starfire defiantly thought as she decided to make her presence known
