She’s been out for an hour, body curled and tucked against the door card on the passenger side. By now, they’ve been driving for days, only stopping to swap seats, fill up on gas, and nap. The bliss she’s slipped into is heartily interrupted by a thunderous ‘DAMN IT!’ as Arthur yanks the truck off the road.

“What happened?” Her sleepy voice whines between them while she pulls the sleeve of a hoodie off her eyes. “Why’d you stop?” The sun nearly blinds her, and by the time she’s lifted her hand to shield herself, he’s out of the truck and furious.

“Hey?” She calls, throwing the door open and neatly springing to the grass below. There’s a pungent smell coming off the engine and she feels her heart sink. They were both sleep deprived, hungry, and this was the last thing either of them needed. “I’ll just call someone, okay?” But when she pulls up her phone there’s no service – and a wave of dread washes over her. She looks between the phone and Arthur and back and chews her bottom lip. “I mean, is it something we can fix ourselves?”

Now don’t get him wrong, Danny was delighted at the idea of Jordan making a friend, he really was. But the last three attempts had been borderline kidnappings, so he wasn’t entirely sure if he should be. Thankfully it doesn’t seem he’s kidnapped this one. Hopefully. 

Not that he wouldn’t be surprised if Dan managed to kidnap a tiny kryptonian, but the kid- Jon apparently- seemed happy enough to be there. Apparently his grandparents lived in the midwest too, and was happy enough to have someone to talk about it. 

Though um, maybe Danny should have checked to see if his parents knew where he’d gone, because he was not expecting a harried-looking superman to suddenly appear at his window.
