I feel you
Warnings: angst, language, Musa is struggling, caring!Riven
Summary: Riven is there for her when Musa gets her magic back.
Words: 1.6k
Pairing: Riven x Musa
A/N: So I just finished the finale of season 2. Overall I loved the Rivusa content, but this moment was a wasted opportunity. Riven was literally standing next to her when she got her magic back and he knows how hard it’s been for her. So let’s pretend this happened (they just didn’t show it ;) )

She feels it the moment it happens. As her magic returns a power curses through her, enlightening her whole body. Musa knows without a doubt her eyes are shimmering in a deep purple as she gazes at the others around her.
“They did it”, she says, a smile settling on her lips. Beside her Riven stops fighting and she sees the other Specialists lowering their weapons as well.
But just a second later her smile fades as the noises return to her. It hits her like a wave, powerful und unforgiving, crashing over her and pulling her under.
Distant screams growing louder, mixing with sobs and cries of pain and regret. She can feel every bit of it, every emotion ranging from shock to fear, from anger to sorrow.
“Hey!”
Her eyes are opened wide as she tries to find herself in the midst of the chaos, her own feelings that can pull her back to reality and ground her. But it’s hard, almost impossible with so many people with strong emotions surrounding her.
“Musa!”
She hears her name being called and someone moves into her field of vision. At first the figure is burry, but as the person grabs her shoulders she has something to tap into. Something that brings her enough clarity to make out his face.
It’s Riven, his brows drawn together in a deep frown as he stares at her. She knows his emotions are there somewhere too, but she can’t make them out in the swirl of it all.
“Look at me!”, he tells her and she does, stares at him like he is everything she can see. And he is.
A whimper escapes her and she leans forward, feeling like she is breaking under the weight of her own abilities. A gift, as people like to tell her. They don’t know anything.
But she knows better.
It’s a curse.
“Focus on me, okay?”
His voice sounds oddly drowned out, although he is standing right in front of her holding her by her shoulders.
She blinks, tries to do what he tells her to, but she can’t find him in all the feelings that are blending into a haze.
This is why she had given up her magic so voluntary. So she didn’t have to feel so much pain again. But now it’s back, much stronger than she could have anticipated.
“I can’t!” She shakes her head, helplessly. “I can’t find you.” They have won. The fight is over. But instead of relief all she can think of is pain, so much pain, a silent torture no one else can feel.
“Make it go away”, she whispers and she feels Riven’s grip tighten around her shoulders. His face is only inches away from her as he speaks to her.
She doesn’t know if it is his nearness, his words or that they have built a strange friendship over the past days, but somehow Riven breaks through the fog that is her mind.
“Yes, you can. Focus on me”, he repeats, speaking slowly and forcefully to make sure she is hearing every word.
And suddenly she knows where he is. He isn’t her light in the darkness or her calm in the storm. But he keeps his emotions at bay and his pain is overshadowed by something else. Concern. Relief. Hope.
He believes in her.
She knows he must be making an effort to bring out positive emotions so she can hold onto them, focus on anything other than the pain surrounding her, but as he stares at her he doesn’t seem bothered by it or strained.
“Come one”, he mutters and she notices the deep crease on his forehead as she stares at her, his eyes flickering over her face.
His pain is a reflection of her own pain, his sorrow a result of her suffering. Because he cares. About her.
The thought startles her enough to blend out the rest as her mind tries to wrap around that newfound truth.
When she had talked to Riven months ago, he had been furious when she had used her powers to get into his head. But now he is opening himself up to her. He is letting her in, so she has something to bring her back, something that grounds her.
It is so much more than she could have asked for, yet it is impossible for her to form words as it takes all her effort not to collapse under the sudden weight on her shoulders.
“I feel you”, she whispers and he lets out a breath, nodding slowly. “Okay, good.”
But he doesn’t let her go yet and she is surprised by how much she doesn’t want him to. “Let’s get the hell out of here.”
She lets him guide her away, his arm wrapped around her shoulder as he manoeuvres her through the crowd of people. A part of her wants to stop him and tell him that she can’t leave yet. Her friends are still out here somewhere, and she doesn’t know if they are okay.
Bloom and Aisha, Stella and Tara. And Flora, who has been willing to sacrifice herself.
She needs to know if they were okay. But she is too weak to argue and too scared to let go of Riven to try and find them.
“They are okay.”
She tilts her head to look at him, his knowing eyes already on her face. “You don’t know that.” Her voice sounds low and shaky, nothing like the strong and capable woman she felt like when she joined Riven and the other Specialists outside to fight along them.
She knows Riven notices, but he doesn’t say anything as he leads her back to the school.
“If they are half as stubborn as you, they won’t let Sebastian and his bastards kill them.”
She snorts at his words, not trying to argue with him. It would just prove his point and she knows he is right; she is stubborn. Strong-willed, like her mother used to call it.
“See? I’m not lying.” Riven pushes a door open for her before pointing his finger towards his head. “I know how it works.” The gesture along with his cocky grin makes her smile and she can feel the color leaving her eyes as they turn back to her natural brown.
They are nearing her room now and with every step between them and the remaining fairies and fighters outside she feels the burden grow a little lighter.
“Tomorrow everyone will handle all of this shit better”, Riven tells her as if he read her thoughts. His arm falls back to his side as they come to a stop in front of her door, and she feels like he has taken some of her warmth with it.
“You will manage.”
He says it in a casual way and with so much conviction that she wants to believe him. But right now it all seems too much and she adverts her eyes. He knows she would give up her magic if she could. He had seen her take the chance. He knows what no one else does.
But her secret is safe with him. She trusts that without a doubt. And she doesn’t need to tap into his head to know it.
“Thanks for, you know, bringing me here.” There is so much more she wants to say to him, that she wants him to know, but it’s too much to put into words. And she is tired now that the fight is over and the adrenaline is wearing off. Exhausted that her mind isn’t her own anymore, that her feelings are always accompanied by someone else’s.
Riven shrugs like it isn’t a big deal, but a part of her wonders if he doesn’t want to be with his Specialist pals. Celebrating their win instead of spending time in the presence of her low mood and energy.
But he is here, isn’t he?
“Sparring tomorrow?”, he asks and her eyes light up at his words, a little warmth returning to her. She tries not to sound too eager as she agrees and he nods at her once before turning to leave.
“Oh and Musa?” She has nearly slipped into the room when she hears his voice again and she turns back, surprised and curious what he is about to say.
For a moment he just looks at her, his expression unreadable. But she resists the temptation to glance into his mind.
“You did good today.”
His words hang in the air between them for a moment and she gulps, wishing she could see what he does when he looks at her the way he does now. Like he can see right through the walls she has built around herself.
And strangely it doesn’t feel threatening or terrifying. Instead it is reassuring to know that there is someone who really sees her.
“Now get some rest.”
It sounds a little like a command, but his voice is gentle and his eyes are soft as he looks at her in an almost affective way.
When he turns and walks away Musa lets herself stare after him, hoping he doesn’t feel her eyes boring into his back. Then he disappears behind a corner and she is left alone.
“Good night”, she whispers even though she knows he cannot hear her anymore.
And when she quietly shuts the door behind her, she allows herself to sink against it and close her eyes for a moment.
In the past days she has given up her magic only to regain it, nearly died but lived, and along the way she had found someone who made her heart beat faster and helped her shoulder the weight of the world.
Someone she had never expected to become such an important part of her life in such a short amount of time.
But she didn’t regret any of it.
And if she was going to face her magic again, she knew she wouldn’t be alone.

sky ✿
sky spoils you so much, he treats you like a princess, which is ironic considering he’s a prince.
to him, you’re his world, he’d never do anything to hurt you and he loves you so much.
sometimes, when the two of you are relaxing together, he lets you style his slightly long hair.
speaking of relaxing together, that’s one of his favourite dates, when the two of you just spend time at a cafe, getting a break from the chaotic fairy and specialist duties you usually deal with.
brandon ✿
you were one of the few people to first know that sky and brandon switched names. brandon wanted to be completely honest about the switch and you understood due to sky’s feelings about wanting to try a normal lifestyle.
literally the sweetest boyfriend ever, he treats you so good. he’s so gentle and loving with you, your heart melts every time you’re with him.
he doesn’t get jealous that often and neither do you, the two of you trust each other and have a relationship that’s really built on honesty and loyalty.
riven ✿
no one would’ve thought the two of you would get together, as riven has a high temper and you pretty much have no temper, always calm and relaxed. in fact, the only people that suspected something was going on with the two of you were bloom and sky, they always took notice of the flirty comments and subtle touches between the two of you. however, ever since you’ve announced your relationship with the hotheaded specialist, you’ve been extremely happy with him, and your friends started relaxing exactly how much sense the two of you make.
you’re a balanced couple that occasionally has rough patches, as riven can get really jealous and insecure, but you guys always make it out and your love grows even more. riven loves you and never wants to make you feel less than appreciated.
his favourite date with you consists of literally anything that involves you two being near each other, but he especially loves when you and him help your friends defeat the newest villain. he also loves when you cuddle with him, as he’s really just a softie deep down, constantly wanting to be touching you. he’s a huge fan of pda, unless you’re uncomfortable with it.
helia ✿
you and helia go together so well, no one was surprised when the two of you made your relationship official. your both calm and loving people, quickly becoming one of the best couples out of your friend group.
you love his hair so much. he just lets you run your fingers through his hair and style it into stupid little ponytails and buns, the man not even complaining about it, actually secretly enjoying it.
he’s literally the best boyfriend. he is always at your side when you need comfort and he gives you all his love.
timmy ✿
it took a while for timmy to build up the courage to ask you out, but once he did, you happily said yes.
the two of you are the definition of ‘opposites attract.’ you’re outgoing and a social butterfly, compared to timmy, who’s shy and doesn’t talk to many people aside from his friends.
he isn’t a big fan of pda, but behind closed doors, he’s always wanting to be close to you.

Too Far Gone
He hated it, the power she held over him. That she'd never needed her magic to see into the poisoned depths of him. The pressure that never seemed to escape the cage of his ribs. The ache, worse than any blade that had pierced his skin. Worse than any broken bone or wound from a Burned One.
And yet he loved it. That the never-ending pain only ever dulled when he was with her.

Read part 1!
Summary: Reader has another episode where her powers are out of control. When Riven is not around steps another guy forward. Riven turns green with jealousy when he witnesses someone else trying to help you, it is after all his task.
Tumblr media
“Sorry I’ve woken you up.” – you said, turning your head to Riven. So did Riven, his arm under his head. – “It’s fine!” – he responded waving his hand up. You fully turned over to him, laying your arm under your neck. – “I truly am. I…I shouldn’t wake you up for every small convenience.” – you exhaled soft, looking up to the night sky. The sky dotted with a few stars. – “Hey!” – Riven rolled over to you, laying his thumb on your chin. – “Your my best friend! You need me? I’ll be there.” – he let his thumb swipe to your jaw, stroking you. You curled up a smile, gazing into his eyes. – “Still…” – you softly said, removing his fingers from against your cheek.
You lowered his hand, still holding onto it. – “Y/n! No matter what I’m here for you. I told you we’d figure this out together!” – Riven interrupted before you could feel sorrier for yourself. – “Do you still hear them?” – he wanted to know. You shook your head as best as you could. Riven shut his eyes out of relief for a moment. – “Only me…” – you whispered. Riven entangled his fingers better with yours, bringing your hand up. – “Good.” – he breathed out, staring at you. You smiled gently at him, feeling so safe around him. Riven and you kept gazing at each other, caught in the moment. The stars above weren’t nearly as important as one another.
Riven felt words come up, tasting them on his tongue. He slightly opened his mouth, readying himself to express them. He inhaled long, feeling his chest enlarge. You rolled over to your back, feeling the grass underneath you stick on your skin. Riven exhaled, swallowing his words back in. He rolled onto his back as well, tugging his arm behind his head. If only he had spoken sooner, perhaps he could’ve changed things. There was nothing wrong with being best friends, but lately he felt wanting something more. He wanted you closer than ever. Just you and him. He brought your entangled hand to his stomach, letting it rest there. For now this was good enough. He still had you.
Riven jerked his upper body up, hearing a loud whistle. Someone was blowing angry on the whistle. You shot up as well, staring with grand eyes at Riven. – “We have to go!” – he ordered, urging you to get up. You got up with the help of Riven. He took your elbow, running off with you. – “I hope you aren’t scared of detention!” – Riven chuckled out. You groaned loud at how in the heat he still found time to joke around. Riven pushed you inside the building. – “If they start checking dorms we are screwed!” – Riven called out. You nodded following him into the cafeteria. It was dark and silent. Riven and you stopped for a second to decide the best way back to the dorms.
You went left when Riven went right. He sighed loud, running after you. He grabbed you by the elbow, pulling you in the other way. You gasped loud, hearing voices, someone clearly in search for the students out of bed. Riven dragged you around, making the decisions for you. Riven came to a sudden stop, seeing the light of a flashlight reflecting around the corner. He took your hand, going the other way with you. The voices got louder as Riven took a hard risk. He pressed you against one of the pillars. He pressed himself close to you, letting you know to stay quiet. You nodded.
Riven let his hands rest on your waist, his eyes going around while trying to listen. You could only stare at him. Stare at your best friend. Riven’ eyes fell on you, letting them rest there. He kept staring at you, quirking a tiny smile up. The way he stared at you let butterflies bounce around in your stomach. You felt it so strong. The warmness inside of you. You couldn’t stop it but the emotion you absorbed from Riven started to vibrate out of your body. Warm pulses of soft purple vibrating off you. Riven moved his hands off your waist, taking a step back to understand what was happening. He clearly felt the pulses as well. A purple aura surrounding you. – “What are you doing?” – he whispered, hoping they wouldn’t be found.
“I don’t know.” – you whispered back with a soft smile. – “I just feel so loved.” – you added drunk on the emotion. – “Well snap out of it Y/n before they find us!” – Riven shout-whispered, grabbing you by both shoulders. He shook you gently back and forth, giving you a reality check. You blinked rapidly, the purple aura retreating back inside you. – “I’ve never done that… cool.” – you said with a goofy smile. Riven peeked around the pillar, seeing that the coast was clear. – “Good for you Y/n.” – he replied, taking your hand again.
Riven ran up the stairs with you to where all the dorms were. He dropped you off at your dorm. – “See you in the morning.” – he whispered out, pushing you inside. You waved him goodbye as he shut the door. Riven shook his head with a shudder unsure what had happened there. He rubbed his hand against his heart. When you were shining, he definitely felt his emotions in overdrive. Like an overdose from what he was feeling. He laid himself down in his bed with a weary sigh. At this point he was just glad you weren’t caught.
The next day was Riven with Sky at the training grounds. Two specialists were fighting on the platform. Sky and Riven leaning against it, supervising them. – “How’s Y/n?” – Sky asked. – “I heard she had it rough after her first time using her powers.” – Riven nodded, looking briefly away from the specialists. – “She couldn’t be any better.” – Riven answered with a cocky smile. – “Also she is mine to worry about!” – Riven held his finger up, narrowing his eyes to an intense stare. Sky swallowed nervously. – “I was just asking.” – Sky informed, knowing when to back off.
Riven chuckled loud. – “I know. I was just reminding you off it.” – Riven slapped Sky against his back with a sly smile. – “Got it!” – Sky puffed out, feeling the air in his lungs sucked out. – “Hey! work on your feet!” – Riven shouted at the specialist. He nodded keeping an extra eye out on his pose. They practiced again, Sky pointing out their wrongs. After practice shared Riven and Sky a handshake with the specialists. – “You coming to the party?” – one of them asked. Riven laughed loud. – “Have I ever turned down a party?” – He said in a rhetorical way. – “No.” – answered the specialist, making Riven roll with his eyes. Riven took his leave with Sky, going back to their dorm.
The party was buzzing loud when arrived. You texted Riven that you were here. Tugging your phone away, you looked curious around. Through the crowd you saw Musa sitting with her headphones on a table with Sam by her. She was laughing loud at something. Terra was wandering around, holding three drinks in her hands. Probably to give to her friends. Someone bumped against your shoulder, making you move around. You started going around the party in search for Riven. You smiled when Bloom cheered loud at beer pong. Sky throwing his hands up in a loss.
Bloom pointed at him when he picked up the cup to drink. You moved on, seeing that Terra had found her friends. She stood with Aisha and Stella. You pulled your nose up at Beatrix sharing an intense smoke with someone in the corner. Pulling out your phone, you checked if Riven had texted you already. You sighed soft when nothing had popped up. Perhaps anyone knew where he was. – “Excuse me.” – you said, tapping a guy on his shoulder. The guy turned around, looking annoyed at you. – “Do you maybe know…” – you started getting cut off by him. – “Beat it!” – he called out over the loud music.
You gulped distancing yourself from him. – “Okay…” – you mumbled to yourself, rubbing your palms together. With a heavy sigh squirmed you through the crowd. – “Riven?” – you just started to call out loud. – “Riven?” – some people that heard you shook their head, not knowing. You sighed again standing lost while around you people danced. The lights flickering above your head for a strobing effect. Looking down saw you that the floor was covered in glitter. The music was so loud it numbed your hearing. Everything felt like underwater. The dancers around you seemed to be closing in on you.
Circling around you like vultures. You furrowed your brows, feeling a strong emotion stir inside of you. It was vibrant and active. Like a tornado out of control. You looked around, seeing a couple argue in the back. You could feel it. Their emotion so strong it angered you. You felt this deep grudge inside of you, yet the feeling wasn’t yours. – “Stop.” – you whispered out, pressing your hands against your ears. Your eyes shining a bright purple. You inhaled sharply when another strong emotion swept in. laughter. You could hear it echoing in the back of your mind. It was repulsing when the joy mixed with the anger. You felt two strong conflicted emotions deep inside of you. I should’ve never trusted him again. You heard the voice loud and clear in your mind. I’m so fucking stupid for still believing this ass! You inhaled sharply as the voice blurred over into another one.
Should I jump on the pool table and take my shirt off? Is it just me or does this drink taste funny? God he is so attractive. I am so going to be hungover tomorrow morning. the thoughts kept barging into your mind uninvited. You couldn’t take it anymore. The voices, the emotions. It was too much. – “Stop it! Stop it… stop it!” – you kept saying, louder and louder. You needed Riven and you needed him now. You were about to lose it again. This time you had no idea what would happed if you reached your breaking point. – “Shut up. Just shut up!” – you started slapping yourself against your head, wanting the voices to be over with.
Close to crying sunk you down, crouching. – “Please… please… please…” – you begged gently rocking back and forth. No one around you seemed to notice or care. All too occupied in their own little world. – “Turn it off. Turn it off. Turn it off.” – you whimpered, tears streaming down your face. – “Hey Y/n you, okay?” – You didn’t hear it at first, too overwhelmed by your powers. Dane looked over his shoulder to see if anyone was going to interfere. – “Hey Y/n, you alright?” – Dane knelt down to your height, touching you on the knee. You gasped loud, staring with your sparkling purple eyes at him. – “Wow! Relax it’s just me.” – Dane said, moving his hand up.
“Make it stop. I want it to stop.” – you cried out, sobbing loud. – “Stop what? Y/n what is going on?” – Dane got a bit worried. – “The voices, the emotions. Everything!” – you called out, close to your breaking point. – “Alright, okay. I’ll make it stop!” – Dane looked thoughtful around for a solution. He had no idea what was going on, but he had seen Musa wear headphones, so he figured maybe you just needed the same.
“Here take these!” – Dane pulled out his earplugs from his pocket. You shivered, looking frightened and fragile at him. Dane removed your hands from against your ear. He put his earplugs in to see if it was better. – “And?” – he yelled out over the loud music. You shook your head at Dane as it wasn’t helping. He exhaled deep, wondering what to do next. – “It’s going to be alright Y/n. Try… try focusing only on my voice.” – Dane took your hand, rubbing your back. Dane started to ramble out stuff about training as it didn’t help at all.
Riven was by the pool table. When it wasn’t his turn, lifted he his head up to look around. Between people’s leg spotted he something. He wasn’t sure at first. Then when the crowd on the dancefloor moved around widened his eyes. – “What the actual fuck!” – he spitted out with a deep glare. He pushed his pool stick into another guy’s hands. Angry forced he a way through the crowd. Riven felt disgusted, betrayed, and jealous that Dane was by your side. Riven could sense that you had another overwhelming episode.
It vexed him that Dane was there trying to help you when that was his task. Only he could sooth you so why was this prick even trying. Dane helped you up to your feet. – “Your so death!” – Riven cursed out, grabbing Dane by his shoulder. He turned him around to him, grabbing him firmly by the shirt. – “What the fuck do you think you are doing!” – he called out, glaring threateningly at Dane.
“I-I-I-I-I I just saw her on the floor.” – Dane stuttered out. Riven looked at you, letting go of Dane. He pulled at the string of his earplugs, letting them plop out of your ears. – “Was this your stupid idea?” – Riven hummed sarcastically at the end of his sentence. – “I…I thought it would work. I see Musa wear them all the time.” – Dane answered. Riven grabbed Dane by his shirt again. – “Y/n isn’t fucking Musa is she now! If I see you around her again. Your death!” – Riven let go of Dane.
“Riven!” – you called out still panicking. Riven grabbed you, leading you out of the room. You got outside yet it still felt like you were unstable. Riven walked sturdy away from the building with you. You stopped him at the green fields, feeling like you were going to explode. – “Riven… I can’t… I can’t…” – you called out, shaking your head, your hands pressed firmly on your ears. A pulse vibrated off you again. This time it was deeper purple.
You clenched your jaw at the intense pain it was causing you. Riven grabbed you by the shoulders. – “Y/n listen to me! Stay with me okay!” – he called out in a panic. This time he wasn’t sure what to do. Your hands were trembling as you breathed in shocks. Riven grabbed a hand of yours, pressing it against his chest. – “Feel my heartbeat! Only focus on it.” – you tried to focus on it, feeling it beat against your palm. Riven kept a close on you, seeing a slight change in you. It did seemed to work, yet he needed like a final push to bring you completely back.
The pulsing aura started to fade out as he was glad about that. You still looked uncomfortable. Riven pulled you closer to him by your shoulder. You widened your eyes when Riven pressed his lips onto yours. You blinked rapidly, the shininess in your eyes fading. Then you closed your eyes, moving your arms around Riven. He pressed his hands against your back, pulling you closer to him. The last of the voices disappeared as your own feelings took the wheel.
You kissed Riven full on. Your lips never getting enough of his. You parted, gazing up to him. Riven touched your chin with a cheeky smile. – “I love you Y/n.” – it wasn’t the first time you had heard him say it. You used to casually say it to each other all the time. This time it did felt different. Purer. You knew he meant every word of it. – “I love you too Riven.” – you answered with a smile. Riven kissed you again to seal his words with yours. – “Are you feeling any better?” – he asked.
You nodded getting on the tips of your toes. – “Your my remedy.” – you whispered to him. – “I’m sorry I didn’t found you earlier.” – he breathed out, feeling a bit guilty. – “That’s alright. You always come at the right time.” – you answered letting his nose brush against yours. Riven squeezed your waist. – “I promise you I’ll always be there. We’ll conquer this together. Just you and me.” – he kissed you once more. – “Just us.” – you whispered.

sorry if there is any grammar error, english is not my first language.
Real life pov:
The sun has been up for hours. Musa is asleep in her bed, the blankets covering her body from the cold as she feels a shifting weight beside her. The fairy opens her eyes slightly and sees her boyfriend moving in his sleep. She just put an arm around him to bring him back against her chest and looks at the time on the clock in her room. The time for the start of classes is near, especially for Riven who has his specialist training in less than an hour. Musa watches her boyfriend sleep with serenity. His closed eyes, his little smile and his calm demeanor prevent Musa from waking him up. It breaks her heart to have to wake him up. After a few minutes of reflection, the mind fairy delicately leans towards Riven and gently places a few kisses on the boy's face in order to be able to gently wake him up. She delicately places a kiss on his pink lips and as she sits up, she hears a slightly raspy voice speak: "Another."
"Another what?" Musa replies with a slight chuckle in her voice.
"Kiss me again."
"Hmm?"
"Please..."
She finally comes to put her hand on the young man's cheek and bends down to kiss her boyfriend. Riven can feel butterflies in his stomach as his lips touch Musa's in a long kiss.
They separate a few seconds later, out of breath.
"Why such a pleasant awakening?" The boy asks as he lays back, absently stroking Musa's hip.
"You have practice in not even thirty minutes."
Riven sighs as Musa laughs at his reaction.
"Come on, stand up, big boy."
He frowns and stands up reluctantly.
An hour later, after practice, Silva gathered all the specialists for a quick meeting. Riven goes to sit on the grass between Sky and Kat. He doesn't understand why, but Riven feels a bad vibe, something bad is brewing and a slight panic begins to creep inside him because he doesn't know what.
"Why are we gathered here?" The boy asks Sky.
"You do not know?" Answers the blond.
"What don't I know?"
"Uh..nothing nothing..."
Riven frowns even more when he sees his best friend not answering him when he knows what's going on. It is at this moment that Silva appears and clears his throat to attract the attention of his students and bring silence.
"Hello everyone, some of you already know about it but today is an open day. Some parents will be present and I would like you not to change any of your habits, stay natural we want visitors to see the day to day in our establishment."
Students begin to get up to resume their normal activity. Yet Riven still feels that thing deep inside him, that feeling of discomfort. There is something hidden from him and he doesn't appreciate it at all. He gets up and as he walks towards Silva, Sky follows him.
"Saul can we talk?"
"What's the matter ?" Ask the teacher at the same time to put away the swords for the next lesson.
"What are you hiding from me?"
"Nothing at all..."
"No, no absolutely not, we always said there was no secret between us and there, you and Sky are hiding something from me. If you don't answer me, I'll ask Stella and you know very well that she will answer me ."
The more he talks, the redder his face becomes with anger and stress. Silva finally replies: "Your parents will be there."
At these words, Riven feels his world crumble. The barriers and walls he's been creating for years are crumbling before his eyes, the bricks of his armor are coming aggressively at him. He hasn't seen his parents for years, they abandoned him. Why would they come? He does not understand. He doesn't understand and at this moment, Riven doesn't know how to do anything but run away, as usual.
A few hours later, Musa comes out of her botany class. She tucks her book into her bag as she puts on her headphones so she can walk the halls undisturbed and engrossed by other people's thoughts. While her eyes are frozen on her playlist, looking for a good song, she runs into someone. The fairy looks up at the person to apologize and quickly realizes it is Sky in front of her. The blond has a panicked look on his face and the anguish he feels could be felt miles away.
"What's going on Sky?" Musa asks, removing her headphones and putting them in her pants pocket.
"Have you seen Riv?"
"No why? What's going on?"
The specialist does not want to answer. He doesn't want to worry Musa.
The boy's panic is so impressive. Musa has never felt so much fear in someone. This emotion comes away from them to go crashing against the walls. It flows everywhere. It breaks into pieces and reforms. It floats up to them. And takes Sky in his arms. Anguish, this destructive feeling. This worries Musa.
"Sky please tell me."
The boy comes to scratch the back of his neck with some discomfort. Though he talks, maybe Musa will manage to find Riven.
"Today is open house, and his parents will be there..."
"What?!" Musa opens her mouth wide in shock.
"Yes and Riven ran away, he doesn't want to be confronted by them. Please Musa tell me you know where he might be."
She nods. Staring off into space, trying to dig into her brain to figure out where her boyfriend might be. And that's where it tilts in her brain: "I think I know, I'll send you a message if I find him."
As she is already going the opposite route, Sky calls her.
"What?"
"Watch out for him, watch out for you two."
Musa nods slowly.
With a determined step, Musa enters the forest. She knows he's there, on the rock she often goes to when she needs to clear her head. And she knows he's there, because they're the same person. The fairy walks faster and faster and the leaves crunch under her shoes. The further she goes, the clearer the noise becomes. She hears heavy sobs. After a few more seconds of walking, she finally finds him. She knew he would be there.  She see him beneath her eyes and what those eyes see breaks her heart. Riven is half seated against a rock. Hot tears stream down his face and his eyes look so tired from crying that they are red. He has a cigarette between his lips which he holds in a trembling hand.
"Love?"
Riv looks up at Musa and a sob escapes his lips. It's the first time anyone calls him Love, it's the first time Musa calls him Love. He instantly extinguishes the cigarette on the rock then puts the rest of the cigarette in his pocket. He doesn't want to throw it on the ground and pollute it. Awkwardly, the boy wipes his tear-filled face with his sleeve.
"Oh Musa, sorry."
"Sorry for what Riven? You didn't do anything." Said the fairy walking towards him.
She puts her bag against the rock then comes to stand in front of him.
"Sorry." He repeats with a trembling voice.
"Riv don't apologize."
The boy lowers his head. Musa, meanwhile, delicately raises the boy's face so that he looks at her. She smiled softly at him. Riven's heart skips a beat, overwhelmed by Musa's sweetness. It must have taken so much violence to become this gentle.
"Sky explained to you?" Riven asks as he turns his face to place a kiss in the palm of Musa's hand.
""Yes, he explained everything to me." Answers Musa, coming to delicately caress the boy's cheek.
"I don't understand, really I'm trying but I don't understand why they come back. They abandoned me, abused and insulted me all my childhood and now they come back?! It doesn't make any sense."
Riven frowns trying to understand the sense of the situation, "What am I doing Musa?"
"What do you want to do?"
"I don't want to see them."
"So come on, let's spend the day together."
Riven nods vigorously and stands up. He picks up Musa's bag as she sends a message to Sky saying that for now, everything is fine.
Musa's pov:

After a few hours in Riven's room, the two lovebirds finally decide to go out to look for food in the cafeteria. They cross the corridors holding hands.
"Do you want to eat at the cafeteria or shall we go back to your room?"
"I'd rather go back to the bedroom, I don't want to risk running into my parents." Riven replies, shaking the fairy's hand a little more.
She comes to gently caress the specialist's hand with her thumb to calm him down. He comes to open the door and holds it for Musa to pass. After that, they both head for the food. Riven chooses the food and begins to take it, however the canteen woman offers to put the meal in a paper bag to bring it back with them more easily. The specialist thanks her and turns around to find Musa retyping her space buns with pins.
A small chuckle escapes Riven's mouth as he speaks, "Do you want some help Pixie?"
"Don't make fun of me Riv, I'm hearing your laugh huh. But yes help me please."
The boy's laughter intensifies as Musa sticks her tongue out at him. He approaches her and comes to tie up the buns with the pins that the fairy hands him. He winks at her when he's done and she smiles back. It's such a bright, reassuring smile. Riven falls in love with her again every time she smiles at him like that. To keep from blushing at that beautiful smile, Riven turns to take the bag of food. While they are in the hallway, Beatrix rushes at Riven. Moreover as he gets up, Beatrix signals to Musa not to take the road they were going to take. She doesn't understand why and that's when she falls from nose to nose with eyes that are so bright green and so resembling Riven's. His father. And his mother on his arm. She turns her gaze to her boyfriend and sees him breathing harder and harder, stuck in place. Beatrix waits on the side for a reaction and their friends are standing behind Riven's parents, a sorry look on their face. Saul is there too, next to Sky. After a deep breath, Riven takes Musa's hand to leave.
A deep, sizzling voice is heard.
It's Riven's father who speaks: "We come to see you and you run away? You haven't changed at all."
Musa feels the anger and sadness burrowing from Riven next to her. He continues to walk though and the fairy whispers "You should be ashamed."
"You should watch who you hang out with, son." Launch the old man.
Everyone looks at Riven with horrified eyes. He slowly lets go of Musa's hand and turns back to his parents just as slowly. And without warning he almost throws himself on them. Fortunately, in the meantime Silva has managed to get between them. He tries to get Riven as far away from the other two adults as Riven screams angrily.
"Saul let go of me, let go of me so I can smash them. Who do you think you are? Do you want to speak ill of me? No worries. But never dare to hurt the people I love again because I swear otherwise even hell won't be painful enough for you."
The specialist's face is flushed as he struggles in Silva's arms.
"Riven.." Tries to talk to her mother.
"NO, NO! I SPEAK NOW. You have belittled me, abused me, abandoned me and now you come here and claim any right to me and my life. Never. I make it clear to you that I have my own life, that it's Silva my father, that in my eyes Sky, Stella and Beatrix are like brother and sisters, because they are the ones who lived with me, not you, them. Never speak ill of my girlfriend again. You are anything but parents to me but that's it, I don't give you the power to hurt me anymore."
It's his life. His. And no one can take that away from him.

Unrelentlessly upset, by Morganatique9
Pairing: Rivusa (Riven/Musa) from Fate: the Winx Saga
Summary: “What the fuck are you doing, Musa?” Riven asks sharply. “I thought you were supposed to be on a stupid date tonight.”
Musa bursts into a melodious peel of laughter thick with irony and disillusionment that makes Riven arch an eyebrow. “Well, that makes two of us, Riven,” she retorts while toying with a shot glass between her fingers. “Now, if you don’t mind, my new plans for the evening are getting shitfaced to forget about that outraging humiliation. Feel free to join or not, but I’m not going anywhere else.”
Or:
Musa gets stood up on a date and then winds up in the same bar as Riven and his friends. The night progressively takes an unexpected turn that neither the mind fairy nor the specialist could’ve possibly anticipated.

Rivusa and “you look pretty when you smile” or “I could spend 1000 lifetimes staring into your eyes) + DANCE pls hehe (it’s giving end of season 2 party ngl😭 I always wished they had a conversation to define their relationship/ some dialogue during their dance to give a good resolution to their arc throughout the season but oh well)
How about s3 Eraklyon ball instead?
The band chose a slow song. Couples, decked out in elaborate dress that made Riven feel out of place, took to the dance floor hand in hand. He watched them twirl around. Their bright, loving smiles grated at his heart. He hated how happy they seemed; he hated that he wasn’t one of them.
His eyes pushed past the dancers. On the other side of the Eraklyon’s grand ballroom sat three girls; two of them talking animatedly, the third looking as dejected as he felt. Musa watched the dancers, not seeming to care about whatever Aisha and Flora were discussing. She looked so sad it made him hate himself.
They’d had another fight that morning. That was all they seemed to do. Fights would be followed with make up sex, and then they’d move on as if the fight had never even happened. He was tired of doing the same dance over and over, but anytime he tried to talk about it, the words died in his throat and Musa shut down. He always thought the hard part would be getting the girl, but keeping her was proving to be even harder.
Riven stood up, moving through the crowd with surprising ease. Musa looked up at him sadly, uncertainly, when he reached her. Beside her, Aisha glared daggers at him while Flora offered him an apologetic smile. No doubt both of them had heard them yelling at each other – the five of them, including Helia, were sharing a guest suite. Heck, he wouldn’t be surprised if the whole palace or, even then, the whole capital city had heard them. Musa was loud in most things she did, and that included arguments. And Riven, fucking moron that he was, matched her volume and intensity.
“Can we...” he started, motioning his head towards the hall. Aisha started to spit out some undoubtedly vicious and hateful words, but Musa motioned her quiet.
The musical fairy stood and led him out without a word. She stopped in a deserted hallway a few minutes later. He had no idea where they were – all of the hallways in the palace looked the same: beige with gaudy burgundy drapery. They were far enough that the sounds of the party were just a background noise.
She turned to face him. Any words he wanted to say, unsurprisingly, failed him when he looked at her. Riven had never been good at knowing how people were feeling and often found himself misreading their facial expressions, so he’d made a point of memorizing Musa. He knew the faces she made when she thought something was stupid or shocking; he knew the way she laughed when she was uncomfortable and when she was genuinely enjoying herself; the way her eyes flashed and nostrils flared when she was angry; and the way her face relaxed when she was content and at peace. Right now, what he knew about her told him that she was trying very hard not to fall apart. Her arms wrapped around her body, fingers clenching at the delicate red fabric of her dress causing bunching that he was pretty sure would leave wrinkles in the material.
He’d fucked up so badly. He didn’t even remember what had started the stupid fight just that it had led to him saying some pretty fucked up things to her; angry, spiteful words that she’d thrown back with just as much ferocity. They’d probably have kept slinging insults at each other – Gods knew they were both competitive enough to not want to be the first to back down – but Flora had stepped in. By stepped in he meant that Flora had used the potted plants in their suite to literally pull them apart and cover their mouths until they’d agreed to stop. When Flora had let them go, Musa had wordlessly turned towards their shared room and closed the door. Riven had had to ask Flora to get his suit.
They stood in the hallway wordlessly. He should apologise – he needed to apologise – but the words kept getting stuck. Did she regret what she’d said as much as he did? Were the words getting caught in her throat too? Their eyes met and Riven swore his heart stopped. She looked like she was seconds from melting down into tears and, as bad as he was with emotions in general, he became sixty million times worse when tears came into the equation.
Before she could cry or he could react, Musa launched herself at him. Her arms wrapped around his waist as she buried her face in his chest and began to cry. All he could think to do was wrap his arms around her and even that felt awkward. He waited silently until her tears subsided. Her grip on his waist didn’t loosen though.
“I’m sorry” she whispered into his chest. Riven had barely heard the words, but he didn’t care. A grand apology wasn’t needed. He was sorrier than she could ever imagine; that she even apologised was more than he needed to hear. Riven bent his head down and rested his cheek against the crown of her head. He turned his face to place a kiss, and then returned to resting his cheek. They stood like that, holding each other in silence as the party picked up across the palace.
Musa pulled away a few minutes later and took a seat against the wall. Riven joined her on the floor, where Musa entwined her hand with his. He kept their hands in his lap, running his thumb over hers. He loved the way her hand fit with his – like it was made to be there. The song changed three times before Riven broke the silence.
“We need to talk about this when we get back to Magix.” He surprised himself with the maturity he was demonstrating at that moment because talking about it sounded like a goddamn nightmare. Any other time he would tell people to send him back to the Cloud Tower dungeons with Darcy’s fucking illusions before he willingly talked about his feelings. But this was Musa. And this was risking losing her. After all he’d had to overcome to even admit to having feelings for her, he wasn’t going to let her go because of one difficult conversation.
“I know.” She squeezed his hand, nearly cutting off his circulation. “Do you think we’re gonna end up breaking up?”
He lifted his eyes in surprise. Musa was staring at their hands in his lap, worry etching her beautiful face. He hated that she even had to worry about that. There was no doubt in his mind that if they were ever to break up, it would be her call. “I hope not” he replied honestly.
A couple passed through the far-right hall, laughing loudly in their drunken stupor. Riven realised that, in the moment, he’d forgotten where they were and that they were supposed to be at a joyous event – Eraklyon's Millenium Celebration.
Riven stood, offering Musa his hand. She took it, letting him help her to her feet. Musa started back to the party but Riven kept her hand in his and stopped her. “Dance with me?” he asked, pausing so she could hear the slow, romantic song that the band was playing.
The smile that spread across her features was so radiant it could fuel a major city. She wrapped her arms around his neck, foolishly letting him take the lead as they swayed to the music. He couldn’t help but smile like an idiot when he looked at her. He knew they weren’t in the best place, but she hadn’t given up on him yet and that was enough to keep him hopeful despite his generally pessimistic outlook.
When the music ended, they kept dancing. He was much happier here, just the two of them in their own world where they could pretend nothing was wrong. Musa laughed when she realised he wasn’t stopping with the music – a real, genuine joyful laugh.
“You’re so beautiful when you smile” he told her before he could think the words through properly. Gods he sounded like fucking Helia, but apparently Musa loved it because she smiled even more. Even when they headed back to the party, she kept that gorgeous smile on her face. Through twelve more songs and six boring speeches; Musa kept smiling until disaster struck but Riven chose to ignore that part.

“You know, if you’re not interested, you can just say it to my face. I can take it.” She pauses, “I’ve seen you around with Darcy.” Riven scratches his cheek, “You know, I’m not really sure what to say.” “You say, ‘Musa, you’re a really cool girl, but sadly I am not interested,’” Musa says. “And then we can be friends.” Riven’s fingers loosely clutch her wrist, standing almost as close to her as he did on that Halloween night. Looking her directly in the eye, he says, “I’m not not interested.” Her breath hitches.

Breaking Diamond
Summary: In a crucial moment when everyone's already risking their lives to break the curse of Dyamond, Stella pushes herself past her limits. Brandon has a meltdown at the thought of losing the love of his life and forces all their friends to take a little more responsibility for their own safety
CW: canon-typical violence and mentions of death
This mentions some information from season 8 but should be possible to read without having watched it. I made up a lot of my own lore since the show really didn't bother and I fixed a plot hole or two in the process. I got a little carried away with that and that's why this is as long as it is.
Brandon’s bones rattled from the impact of blocking the giant claw stabbing the space a mere inch from his face. The clash rang in his ears in tandem with the roaring of the creatures. The broad, transparent green strip of his sword was the only barrier between him and the biting magic of the Dyamond monsters. The air tumbled down his throat hard and cool like ice cubes as his hand quivered. From the stinging cold or the exertion of pushing back against his assailant – it was impossible to tell.
“Brandon!”
“Fall back!”
Stella and Sky yelled over the unforgiving howling of the wind lashing out every time one of the girls attempted to fly. The sudden and unpredictable bursts made him grit his teeth harder as if his battle training would escape him along with the uneven, short puffs of his breath.
The slashes and jabs he’d practiced with his sword until they’d become second nature were useless against the frost that had come to life under the sound of their footsteps. Their mere presence had steered the environment to violence and their number did nothing in their favor as the rest of the Specialists weren’t faring any better than him. Watching Red Fountain crumble under the coils of Icy’s magic hadn’t paralyzed him so thoroughly when his classmates and teachers had fought by his side against the regenerating decay monsters. Here the hissing blocks of ice with needle-sharp teeth were limited in number but the white of their bodies stretched all the way into the horizon. There was no end to the curse of Dyamond.
The reach of Stella’s light was the only safety around except for the ship orbiting the planet at Timmy’s command. Yet, the wobble in her arms had sneaked all the way into her voice despite the steady stream of warmth covering his back unlike the brief explosions of heat announcing Bloom’s movements over the battlefield.
Even her power was failing against the ice monsters that learned it no differently from the attacks of all the other girls. Once a spell was used against them, they collectively gained immunity to its particular structure. Something about water being proven to have memory according to both Tecna and Layla.
The creature in front of him raised its arm to make him stumble without a counterweight. Right in the way of the swooping ice claw ready to smash his skull.
Thin threads snaked around him and pulled him back. The ice claw tore the air where his face had been and shattered the frozen earth. The clamor shook Brandon where he hit the ground, his ribs threatening to crack from the force knocking all the air out of him. The cold burned his stiff fingers that clutched pointlessly at the hilt of his sword as he failed to brace himself.
He couldn’t even groan, only lift his head for Helia’s concerned face to come into focus. He managed a thumbs-up to thank him for his timely use of the power glove before he scrambled to push himself up to his feet.
Both he and Helia jumped at Nex’s scream and the flickering of the light dome covering them. One of the monsters pierced through the magical barrier, only a breath away from Nex’s face and the chills he had to feel in the proximity ran down Brandon’s spine as well. Stella’s shield that was still a “magic in progress” was impossible for the creatures to adapt to until complete but her energy wasn’t endless.
A laser beam out of Timmy’s new blaster severed the ice claw where Stella’s light made it vulnerable. The protruding limb crumbled to the ground under the creature’s shrieking.
“Thanks, Timmy,” Nex grinned, seemingly unfazed by the blood-curdling sound.
“No problem.” The wariness in Timmy’s voice only reverberated in the lack of a smile or at least the hints of one.
“Hey, Sky,” Brandon yelled out in no particular direction, “falling back might be the only strategy we have left here.” He used his sword as a crutch to steady himself on his feet.
“I hear you, buddy, but if the ship gets destroyed... we’ll be stuck here,” Sky’s response barely made it over the wind.
It was difficult to tell where it came from with Bloom flying Sky all over the place wrapped in fire. Her powers left her the only one able to counter the magical winds the ice creatures caused. She just had to keep the flames away from everyone else to avoid burning them.
“I need you all to form a circle around me,” Stella’s voice was loud and clear despite the strained micro pause following every word. “Timmy, get the ship right above us at the edge of the atmosphere.”
Brandon scampered to her to watch her back. If she covered them in a sphere of light, that could allow the girls to fly the Specialists up to the ship. If it were possible with her wings quivering from the exhaustion seeping into them from her muscles.
The others flocked back under the protection of the shield with the monsters stabbing through the air and the dome of light after them. Everyone circled him and Stella, fairy next to a Specialist as if they’d had his idea.
“Done,” Timmy’s voice had Brandon focusing on a speck hovering above their heads that could very well be a figment of his imagination.
“What’s the plan?” Tecna looked to Stella instead of bothering to double-check on Timmy.
“Hold them back while I refocus my magic.”
Brandon’s stomach twisted and he nearly lost his balance from the rush of blood pounding in his ears. If anyone else was as shocked as him, their body language didn’t betray them. They all turned around, following Stella’s instructions while his eyes widened to the size of stars still not getting a clear image of her.
“Stella, no!”
Arms trapped him in a vise grip, the friction of his strength against the other person’s scorching through him to do nothing for his numb fingers. The hilt of his sword was digging in his skin to bruising but he couldn’t reach for Stella.
“You’re too exhausted,” the words stuck to his throat like he had to swallow ice blades and his tongue was frozen.
“We have no choice,” Stella gritted her teeth as a wave of magic flowed from her under her direction to sweep over the rest of them.
“Do it, Stella,” Bloom’s words burned in Brandon’s ears.
It was a flash.
Stella’s shield vanished.
The monsters surged at them.
Musa’s sonic waves boosted by Tecna sent them flying back.
Layla’s morphix and Flora’s plants held the creatures down.
A blinding light spilled from Stella and through his body to wash away everything else.
The wind wasn’t stinging his cheeks and lips. The snow didn’t fill his vision. The arms around him weren’t crushing his chest. His own body was erased. There was only the weight in his mind.
His feet hit the ship’s deck and he stumbled with the momentum of the body next to him. Riven grunted an apology in his ear and pulled him to his feet as Timmy dashed to the controls to get them out of there.
Stella’s body crashed into his sight lowered down to the floor by Musa and Sky. She was motionless even as Bloom’s magic flamed around her body like an aura seeping into her skin to melt away the danger.
He made a shaky step back, the voices of his friends mashing together. He slapped away the hands holding on to him, eyes trained on the glow dissipating around Bloom’s hands as Stella’s body absorbed the healing magic to no reaction.
Bloom wavered and fell into Sky’s arms freeing the space at Stella’s side.
Brandon’s knees hit the floor but it was the faint movements of Stella’s chest that were like a gut-punch. His fingers grabbed at her arms and the sparkling orange top that had replaced her Bloomix outfit to move her into his lap as he heaved for breath. Her skin was burning from the effort that had drained every last spark of her magic.
“Stella.” His eyes blurred with tears to keep the horrible stillness gripping her body out of his sight.
Someone knelt on Stella’s other side. There was a quiet rustling before he caught a flash of magic out of the corner of his eye.
“She’ll be fine, Brandon,” Flora’s voice and the warmth of her fingers next to his on Stella’s shoulder reached him. “I’ll need a minute to ground her energy and tie it to the roots of my plants but she’ll wake up as soon as I’m done. You’ll see.”
Flora waited for his reaction but when she didn’t get one, she scooted closer to Stella’s feet and started spreading bright pink pollen around Stella’s body.
“I’ll repeat the healing spell,” Bloom’s feverish hit plowed into him with a wave of nausea as she reached to concentrate the leftovers of her magic.
“No!” Brandon held out his arm to keep her away. “You already did enough.”
Bloom shuffled back as if he’d slapped her until she hit the sturdy body behind her. Everything was a blur in Brandon’s vision but he made out the movements of an arm wrapping around Bloom’s shoulders protectively. Sky.
“Brandon.”
“First you sneak off after the girls and almost get yourself killed and now Bloom drags us on a second mission to a dead and frozen planet. Wasn’t one enough for a lifetime?”
Sky had acted as if almost drowning had been a fever dream. He’d still foolishly mobilized them to go to the surface of a forbidden planet. A cursed planet that they knew nothing about. A dead planet.
Dyamond wasn’t like Domino. The witch that had cursed it was still there, her incantations almost audible in the wind swiping across the whole planet. Her life force made her monsters impervious to both physical weapons and magical attacks. She’d died for her revenge so that her lingering spirit would ensure the rest of Dyamond was forever caught in a death trap as well.
A quiet, trembling voice only ignited his fury further as it whispered, “Brandon.”
“A leader is supposed to do the necessary prep work, not push their teammates past their limits. A simple desire to do good is not enough.”
His teeth ground together like he was biting through ice. He wouldn’t refuse Icy help despite how similarly to Dyamond’s curse her magic had been on the verge of killing them countless times. But he wouldn’t offer assistance at the price of their own lives.
The image of Sky prostrated on the floor with a freezing heart was just as much of a slippery slope in his mind as that of Helia becoming an ice statue after turning on all of them, including Flora. Falling down that rabbit hole was chilling with the reminders of Bloom’s near fatal first encounter with Icy and the coldness looming over all of them with Bloom’s Dragon Fire at the witch’s disposal. He wouldn’t watch Stella be unable to light up the way Bloom had been stripped of her magic.
“Brandon.”
His head snapped back to Stella’s still form in his lap at the brush of her hair against his fingers. He blinked back tears, his eyes widening to sneak a peak past the water curtain blocking them.
The familiar warmth of golden irises greeted him as Stella lifted a slow hand towards his face.
He clasped her fingers and brought them to his mouth pressing soft kisses to them. New tears stung his eyes like the relief was poking his lungs to release all his air. “Stella.”
“Go easy on our friends, Brandon. I’m not the only one who fought but the decision to do it was all mine.” She stroked a fingertip over the cracks in his lips from the cold.
“I’m sorry. That’s not what I...” he cupped her cheek, his heart leaping to reach her when she leaned into his touch and closed her eyes, a small content smile adorning her face. “We’ve already lost too much... We can’t afford to lose anyone ever again.”
He hadn’t been there when Tecna had fallen into Omega but he knew just like the rest of them that the only thing that had been able to fill her absence had been the loud happiness of finding her again. He’d seen Riven push himself in harm’s way to save Musa from Darkar’s spell when he himself had been unable to move. He’d witnessed Stella’s bravery as she’d went down against one of the dragons he’d ridden dozens of times. He couldn’t watch her push herself until she couldn’t recover from the loss of magic. He wouldn’t recover if he had to lose her or another one of their friends after they already lived every day without Nabu’s smile and the ease of his presence to ground even the jumpiest of them.
Stella gasped as if his thoughts had leaked into her and lifted her head to look past him.
The sound of footsteps was so clear in the dead silence that he didn’t startle when a hand grasped his shoulder. He didn’t turn to look at Layla but squeezed her hand, the returned gesture finally freeing his stomach from the knot it’d tied itself into.
“Let’s get Stella to Solaria. The second sun should boost her like nothing else,” Sky suggested.
“No, I’m fine,” Stella waved her hand before reaching to offer Layla her touch. “I can catch a tan once we’ve returned the summer to Dyamond.”
A clicking sound took over the silence only to fade in the background as Tecna spoke, “Brandon has a point. We have to do some research first before we head back to Dyamond.”
“To Alfea then?” Timmy was already fiddling with the ship’s controls.
Brandon nodded, eyes locked on Stella’s fiery gaze as she used Layla’s help to sit up an inch before Layla focused on assisting Flora with undoing the tangle of roots around Stella’s ankles.
“Actually, perhaps Domino’s library would have better records of Dyamond’s past concerns for national security as an ex Dominian colony?” Helia asked.
The feud with the Shaman Witch predated Domino’s fall, that much was clear. Bloom’s parents could have obtained the key information needed to break the curse of Dyamond. They’d updated their books after Domino’s restoration.
“Course is set to the Roc then,” Timmy confirmed the change in plans.
“I’ll call my parents to see if they have something as well,” Layla patted Stella’s hand and stepped aside to where Nex was scrolling on his phone. Probably to pull from his old contacts from his time as a paladin.
“I’ll ask Daphne for her expertise. She can also see what Alfea has and whether Ms Faragonda can offer some assistance,” Bloom extracted herself from Sky’s embrace.
“I’ll do that,” Flora rose up from Stella’s side. She smiled at Stella and headed to an empty corner of the ship to have the conversation undisturbed.
Bloom caught Brandon’s gaze while she was checking on Stella from a distance. She murmured, “I’m sorry.”
Watching her bow her head in defeat send a pang of guilt through Brandon. “I’m sorry, too. I wasn’t right to blame you.”
“No, I... was abusing Stella’s effectiveness,” Bloom waved her hands, pointedly looking at Stella to keep her from interfering. Or to keep from looking at Brandon now that she had no more excuses to occupy her. “You were right to call me out.”
Sky wrapped an arm around her waist for support and pulled her back into him. He placed a kiss on her forehead as Bloom nuzzled into his side. He gave Brandon an imploring look booking a conversation for later before leading Bloom to sit down for the first time in hours.
Helia had joined Tecna’s research team and was folding some origami according to her instructions, possibly deciphering some clue.
Musa and Riven were the only ones still standing awkwardly a little ways to the side.
Riven shifted, grabbing on to Musa who had his hand clasped in both of hers. “I was thinking... maybe we’re missing one of the most important sources.”
“Icy,” Stella startled all three of them.
Brandon nodded. “You think you can contact the Trix?”
“Between my sound waves and Darcy’s psychic powers, it shouldn’t be too hard,” Musa almost wrapped herself around Riven who responded in kind to her silent reassurance.
If Icy would be willing to reveal personal information to her sworn enemies, they could very well end up having to work with the Trix. That would require a whole lot of reassurances across the board even if Icy had helped against Valtor.
“We’ll get on to that,” Riven shifted again, avoiding everyone else’s gazes.
“Thanks.”
Riven waved him Brandon off and slowly walked away with Musa who winked at Stella and smiled at him, eyes darting towards Stella to give Brandon a push before she turned to kiss Riven’s cheek. It was a relief to see him melt into her after the death of his best friend had been thrown in his face like that. If the flashback had been too potent for Brandon, he would’ve hardly been able to imagine the force with which it had hit Layla and Riven even if he weren’t trying his best to avoid it.
At least he wasn’t alone in that, everyone else busying themselves with work to focus on the successes waiting for them, not on the failures they’d had to swallow.
“Brandon,” Stella laced their fingers together, pulling him back into the moments when she’d been out of commission to leave him stranded outside her touch. “I’m sorry I worried you. But I have to be in the center of the action to watch your back, and the girls’, and the guys’.” She worried her bottom lip but continued, “You understand.”
All too well. Wherever one of them went, the others followed. And they’d never sit by instead of working on making sure no one else had to lose a friend, a loved one. Even at the price of their own lives.
“I know. I freaked out.” He scrubbed his hand over his face as if he could erase the past to keep it from tainting Stella’s smile and the faint but insistent spark in her eyes.
“I know. I did, too,” Stella grabbed his hand for dear life, her other palm cupping his cheek. “I would never leave you behind willingly. Any of you.”
He’d just have to give her the same amount of love she put out into the world. If he made it a second nature, their love would persevere, stronger than any engagement ring or marriage certificate. Separating them would be much harder than breaking the curse of Dyamond. It would be impossible.

“I’m sorry.”
Musa nibbled on her bottom lip as she typed the message, hitting send before she could overthink it.
She hadn’t seen Riven since their argument that morning, when he had made more than clear that he didn’t appreciate her will to become a specialist.
When they had sparred together, she had let herself hope that this could be something for her for a moment. Something that gave her a new purpose and her life a meaning.
And Riven had seemed to encourage her, telling her she could do whatever she wanted with her life and stop thinking about what everyone else thought.
It wasn’t as easy as he made it sound, but his words had made her think. He was right. For once she could ignore what other people thought of her and her actions. She might see it on their faces, but she didn’t have to listen to it.
A constant chaos in her head.
And the sparring with Riven had made her feel powerful again. Even though he had beat her, she hadn’t been as bad as he had expected her to be. She had seen the surprise and the hint of respect in his eyes.
Maybe, if she trained enough, she could become one of them. Not a fairy, but a fighter. A part of her wondered if that hadn’t been her destiny all along.
Being a mind fairy had never felt natural to her. Although she had grown used to the noises in her head, she had never appreciated it. Not once had she been proud of her powers, had seen them as a gift.
All they had ever been to her were a curse.
First her mom.
Now Sam.
So she had welcomed the chance to give them up, to get rid of the chaos in her mind once and for all.
What she hadn’t expected was to feel so lost without them. Sure, she was still a fairy. But without her powers that held no meaning. She was still Musa, the girl with the quick wit and natural confidence.
But that wasn’t enough. Not in this world, the world they lived in.
And around her everyone else seemed to have it figured out. Even Bloom, who was struggling with her powers didn’t understand her, because her abilities had opened up a whole new world for her. Opportunities. Friendship.
And so Musa had begun pulling away from her friends, who were encouraging her to get her powers back. The pressure they placed on her felt too heavy, as if she was trapped in a corner, the world caving in around her.
But then Riven had been there, helping her escape Tara’s well-meant but straining getting-Musa’s-powers-back-program, letting her blow off steam during their sparring match and staying by her side when she had been literally rooted to the spot in the middle of the path.
He had listened to her, really listened and said what he thought. Not what he thought she wanted to hear from him or what everyone else told her. Instead he had made her feel understood in an unfamiliar way and a little less lonely.
But it seemed she had pushed it too far with him.
A part of her was still angry how he had treated her, the words he had said to her. But the other one understood where he was coming from.
He had been training to be a specialist for years, putting in effort, time and discipline every single day. His dedication had inspired her to find something that would help her feel that way again, like she was good at something. Something that could help others, not hurt them, hurt herself like her powers had.
And here she was, showing up what seemed to be out of nowhere and claiming to become a specialist too. Maybe she had been a bit too confident in herself and her abilities and he had thought she was being arrogant.
The truth was, she didn’t know what was going on in his head. Because for the first time she couldn’t feel it, and that felt like a curse and a gift at the same time.
Her eyes were fixed on the message for a moment, hoping for a response but doubting he would be answering soon, if even at all. Perhaps it was weird that she was texting him on his Instagram account that was so him but didn’t fit the person she had gotten to know the past days.
But she didn’t have his number and she was too proud to ask Dane for it and too distanced from Flora and Tara. She could have gone to Sky with her request, but that felt weird, and besides he would tell Bloom and in the end the girls would know.
To her surprise she wanted to keep this a secret. She had seen Tara’s look when she had interrupted their training, Riven’s hand wrapped around her arm, steading her, holding her close.
Her heart missed a beat as she thought back to that moment, but she brushed it off. It was a gift not to have to hear their judgement, but that didn’t mean they wouldn’t show or tell her in other ways.
And what she had with Riven, if she could even call it a something, she didn’t want them to ruin.
She was well aware of the reputation Riven had. Living in Alfea she had heard the rumours, had seen the way him and Beatrix had been all over each other last year. And his Instagram profile was just another proof.
But still she couldn’t stop thinking about him. How attentive he had been to look past her facade, how calm and understanding he had been with her. Not judging her decision to give up her magic and keeping it a secret for her.
Maybe what she had heard about him and what he showed the world wasn’t all there was. Perhaps it was just a facade too. An image that told people to stay away, because if they got too close, they would see behind the mask he was putting on.
Musa let out a sigh, locking her phone and pushing it into the pocket of her jeans. She had to get out of here and do something or she feared she would go insane.
Even if she would never become a specialist that didn’t mean she wasn’t allowed to train.
-
“I know you would be here.”
Musa turned, sweat dripping from her forehead and she wiped at it with her arm.
Riven was walking over to the training grounds, dressed in his black uniform that suited him a little too well. And the look on his face told her he knew it.
“Got my ass kicked this morning so...” She shrugged, turning back to the punch bag she was letting her anger out against.
Riven came to stand in front of her, grabbing it and holding it steady as she continued to throw punches at it. “Well, that’s what happens if you challenge a specialist.”
Musa stopped, her eyes meeting his as he emphasized the last word. “I get it. I really do”, she stated, brushing a strand of hair out of her eyes.
“But this”, she gestured around the training course and Riven’s eyes followed her before they locked on her again. “This feels the most like me since a long time.”
For a moment he stayed silent, and she suddenly felt a little self-aware under his gaze, knowing he was reading her. Calculating. It was moments like these that she noticed her missing powers the most. When he looked at her and saw something she didn’t know, but couldn’t slip in his mind to do the same.
“I always figured that was your thing”, he said then, moving away from the punch bag. Musa followed him curiously. “What was?”
He bent down, going through a heap of equipment before pulling out a water bottle and handing it to her. Musa took it with a grateful nod.
“Magic.” He shrugged. “Your mind fairy tricks.”
His words made her feel sick for a moment and she felt the tension she had worked so hard to get off return to her body. Mind fairy tricks.
He seemed to catch the change in her demeanour because he furrowed his brows. “Did you always hate it?”
Musa shifted. “I didn’t hate it.” He raised his brow at her. “I just-”, she let out a frustrated sigh. “Everyone else seems to have it so much easier. Their magic is beautiful, and they can decide when they want to use it.”
She shook her head, adverting her eyes. “Mine’s always been chaotic. And there’s no switch to turn it off. When you’re a mind fairy, you’re constantly on. It’s not easy.”
When she met his eyes again, she saw doubt in them. “I didn’t take you for a girl who chooses easy.” His eyes flickered over her body and she straightened, knowing he was just trying to undermine his words but feeling her heart speed up as he stared so bluntness at her body in her workout clothes.
“I don’t. But it would be nice to- get a break sometimes.”
“When you’re a specialist you don’t get a break either.” Musa felt her brows draw together, not liking what he was implying. “That’s different”, she stated and he gave her a look. “Is it?”
But before she could open her mouth to say something he held up his hands. “Look, I’m not trying to tell you what to do. That’s your thing to figure out. But right now it seems like you’re running into something head-first without knowing what you’re getting yourself into.”
“I’m a good fighter”, she said and his eyes softened for a second. So he had been impressed, even if just a little. The thought made her feel warm inside.
“You’re not bad. But you don’t need to become a specialist now that you don’t have your powers anymore. There are other things you can do.”
Now she was the one to raise her brow at him. “Like what?” He seemed to seriously think about it for a moment before he narrowed his eyes.
“Like anything! Fuck, why do you need to do anything? You don’t have your powers anymore. So what? You’re still you.”
And who is that?, she wanted to ask, but instead she bit her lip. “That’s not enough. Not in this world”, she settled on, her voice lacking emotion. A sign that she was feeling too many at once, so she was shutting down.
Riven stepped closer to her, his eyes suddenly intense again as he looked at her. “Bullshit. Fuck everyone else. You don’t need to do everything for everyone. Just do what you want.”
Some might have said this was the Riven everyone was warning her about. Reckless, selfish, just looking for fun. But as he stood so close to her, she could see that this wasn’t him trying to pull her to the dark side, or however Tara would call it.
Riven wasn’t selfish. Sometimes maybe- wasn’t everyone?- but he had gone back for her. He had saved her, getting attacked himself as he had done that.
And now he wasn’t telling her this out of his own personal motives. Something in his tone told her that there was much more behind his words he left unspoken.
You don’t need to be strong all the time.
And God how she wanted to give up, just for a moment, and let herself feel it all. The mistakes she had made, the guilt she felt, the pain that Sam had left her. That she hadn’t been enough.
That she had lost a part of herself when she had given up her magic. Her powers for one and the part that made her belong. A fairy. But she had given that up voluntary. So what did that make her? A liar? A hypocrite?
In times where they needed mind fairies the most she had chosen to give up, seeking her own relief over the other’s safety.
Riven was right; it was exhausting to be strong all the time. But Musa feared that if she allowed herself to fell all the emotions that she was pushing back, she might never recover from it.
He was so close now that she could feel his breath and an instinct told her to glance around to make sure no one saw them. And take a step back. But she was rooted to the spot, drawn in by his intensity.
“And the chaos thing?”
All her life she had feared the chaos inside of her, had been told it was bad, so bad that it was something to get rid of. And Sam had been her calm.
“Who doesn’t like a little chaos? I certainly do.” Riven smirked at her and she saw a glint in his eyes. Now was the moment she should have pushed him away in disgust. Or stepped away in fury. But none of those things were on her mind as she looked up at him.
But he was gone now.
Why shouldn’t she embrace the chaos? If it was a part of her, so she couldn’t resent nor resist it forever. Even with her magic gone her life felt messy, so maybe it was time to accept it and stop pushing it away.
“Chaos is all my life has been lately”, she confessed, searching his eyes.
So close.
Riven leaned forward and for a moment she thought he would kiss her. But that was...ridiculous.
“Who says that’s a bad thing?”, he whispered next to her ear and when she could see his face again, he still looked at her in a way no one had ever looked at her before. It was oddly thrilling.
“Everyone”, she breathed, knowing she should break the moment but feeling herself not wanting to.
“Everyone else is lame.”
A chuckle burst out of her mouth and Riven gazed at her. “What?”
Musa composed herself again, but the grin stayed. “That’s just what every single person says who thinks they are different.”
Riven looked at her, unbothered by her words because he didn’t have anything to proof to her. He knew who he was.
Musa could feel the heat between them.
Almost unbearable.
So before she could follow his words and do something she wanted, chaotic and potentially stupid she lunged forward, swinging at his leg.
He hadn’t expected the attack so he wasn’t quick enough to move away.
With a satisfied smirk she watched him go down, his back hitting the training platform with a loud thump. Around them she saw a few people staring at them, amused expressions on her their faces as they gazed from her to Riven on the ground.
And there was something in their eyes she hadn’t seen directed at her in a long time; respect.
“Wow.” Riven let out a breath and she turned back to him, extending her hand. He took it, letting her pull him up and she realized he was much heavier than he looked.
As she swayed a little on her feet suddenly he was the one steadying her, his grip around her arm reminding her of the moment he had kept her from falling into the water that surrounded the platforms.
“And here I thought you were done playing mind tricks.”
But he didn’t sound upset. She must have wounded his pride a little, yet he seemed calm and she was glad he wasn’t lashing out on her.
She only shrugged at his words, still too proud of her take-down to put much weight into them.
“I am a fairy after all”, she reminded him, surprised by the lightness with which the words slipped past her lips and he smiled a little.
"Riven!"
They both blinked, turning to Sky who looked up at them at the platform. "Silva's calling us. We're heading out."
A mission. The specialists were going on a mission. A part of her felt disappointed that Riven was leaving and their moment was over. That she couldn't go with him, with them.
But she wouldn't try to argue about this again.
Riven seemed just as surprised as her, but she could see his face ease into an expression of satisfaction. "About damn time!", he muttered and Musa followed him down the platform.
"Any news about Bloom yet?", she asked when she fell into step beside Sky, who shook his head.
The tension was evident in his shoulders and his jaw, so she stayed silent, not pressing further. She didn't need to be a mind fairy to figure out what he was feeling.
When the black jeeps came into view that Silva and the other specialists were loading with weapons and other equipment Riven looked at her again.
"Sparring tomorrow?", he asked, and it sounded so casual that she felt her heart squeeze. It took all in her not to beam at his words and the offer behind them.
Maybe she wouldn't become a specialist, but Riven would teach her how to fight. She would feel strong again.
But suddenly that wasn’t what excited her, but more so the fact that she would be spending time with him again.
With all her determination she held back the joy and gave him a nod, watching as he headed off.
"Be careful!"
She couldn't stop herself and Riven turned back to her, rolling his eyes. "Always am", he said and saluted and she stared after him as he disappeared in a crowd of black bodies.
Only when someone loudly inhaled beside her Musa remembered she wasn't alone. "What?", she asked as her eyes landed on Sky's, his brows slightly raised as he watched her with a hint of amusement in his eyes.
"Please don't give me that speech", she interjected when he opened his mouth, but the blonde shook his head. "I wasn't about to."
"Oh."
Well then.
Before following his friend Sky offered her a small smile.
"You're good for him."
This time Musa couldn’t hold back her smile.

through the eyes of a soldier
Musa's experience this term leaves much to be desired, what with her break up and the scrapers stealing her powers. On the other hand, with unmatched fighting skills, a provocative smirk, and guaranteed shags from a majority of Alfea's population, Riven's year couldn't be going any better.
Unfortunately for all three of them, Craig's about to find out not everything with these two is as it seems.
-- aka, a Rivusa fic from the perspective of that one specialist that told them to "get a room" in s2 (you can blame @sotangledupinit for this nonsense)

Sky puffed loud when you had kicked him in the chest. He doubled, reaching for his chest with a pained expression. – “You are out of shape Sky.” – you said teasingly, lowering your foot. Sky looked up, wanting to speak, but couldn’t yet. It made you laugh loud. – “Riven would be delighted to hear this.” – you told him as Sky straightened his posture. Having moved his hands to his hip, pointing at you. – “Don’t!” – he replied with a scowl.
It made you hum thoughtfully just to tease him more. Sky groaned grabbing a stick. He let it hit down on you. As a response, you had set your hands high as the stick came in contact with your wrists. – “Nice try darling.” – you moved your head for him to see your silly smirk. – “Sky, Y/n enough training!” – both of you heard. Sky lowered his stick.
Turning around, you straightened your posture at Saul coming your way. – “Good foot work Y/n.” – he whispered to you, patting you on the back. You threw Sky a mockingly smile just to rub it more in his face. Sky rolled his eyes. The other specialists gathered around as Saul had whistled loud. Riven came jogging over, looking all smug.
“Y/n.” – he said throwing an arm around you. Pressing your face close to his chest. – “Riven.” – you mumbled out, feeling squashed in his grip. Punching him in the armpit, he released his grip on you. You took a breather, shooting him a glare. Riven laughed finding himself amusing. Saul cleared his throat to make him stop interrupting. – “It’s time for your assignment.” – Saul explained.
He stepped aside as a group of fairies approached the training grounds. – “You’ve got to be kidding me.” – Riven puffed out, turning annoyed around. – “Scared Riven.” – you teased, tickling him under his armpits. Riven’s body squirmed, making him jump away from you. He gave you an annoyed look. Sky chuckled beside you. Saul snapped his finger to stop your little distraction.
“I’ll assign you your fairy.” – he started. He started pairing up some fairies and specialists. Amongst them stood Stella with her friends. She made brief eye contact with you. Her hand subtle going up to greet you with the smallest of nods. You smiled briefly back at her as response.
“I hope I get paired up with Sky.” – you heard her say to Musa. Musa gave her little attention, throwing glances from afar to Riven. – “Stella.” – Saul called out, making Stella straighten her back. – “Y/n.” – he called out, gesturing to the middle. Stella’s eyes widened as you came to the centre. Bloom had to push her forwards or else she would’ve remained still. Stella and you joined before Saul. Saul nodded at you.
You took Stella by her sleeve, pulling her aside. There you waited for everyone to be paired up. After pairing up gave Saul the subject to start training with each other. You and Stella moved a bit away from the group. – “Sorry I’m not Sky.” – you told her. Stella glanced up to you with a bit of shock in her eyes. Tilting her chin a bit up, her attitude changed.
“It’s better than Riven.” – she answered. – “Ouch.” – you replied hurt by her comment. Stella swallowed nervously, looking down. You had lowered yourself to pick up a fighting stick from the ground. Turning around you handed one to her. Stella stared rather strange at it. – “I’m not touching that.” – she said moving the stick away with one finger.
It made you sigh loud. – “Take it.” – you insisted. Stella crossed her arms. – “In case you forgot Y/n, I have my powers to protect me. I don’t need no sweaty stick.” – she said back cocky. You exhaled deep lowering the fighting stick. – “What if for some reason you can’t rely on them?” – you asked, pulling your shoulders up. Stella scoffed at what you said. You had a bit enough of her attitude. – “I’m here to protect you so maybe cut the whole stuck up princess act!” – you called out.
“It’s not an act, I am a princess.” – Stella replied loud. It made you throw your hands up. Throwing the stick on the ground, you gave up. Walking off, you had quite enough of her. – “Where are you going?” – Stella shouted getting on her toes. You ignored her, continuing to walk away. Stella lowered herself, looking hurt down.
She noticed some other pairings looking at her. It made her feel shy and small. Biting her thumb a bit, she went her own way. At first Stella thought about skipping. But then the guilt came. She felt guilty for acting like that towards you. She decided to change coarse and search for you. She eventually found you at the lunch tables. Stella took a deep breath before walking over.
You quirked your eyebrow up when she came sitting in front of you. – “Does her royal princess require something?” – you said bitsy. – “Y/n.” – Stella replied trying to reason with you. You crossed your arms, leaning back in your chair. Stella took a deep breath. – “I’m sorry.” – she said making you stare curious at her. You noticed how uneasy and vulnerable she felt.
“I…I didn’t mean to be so…” – she started. – “Bitchy?” – you answered for her, making her chuckle. – “Yes that.” – she agreed. – “Great, we agree on one thing.” – you teased seeing her smile. – “We agree on more things Y/n.” – Stella spoke. – “Like what?” – you asked intrigued. – “Like how good looking I am.” – she said making you quirk your eyebrow at her. – “Kidding!” – she laughed out, touching your arm. It didn’t make you laugh, rather just gaze at her.
You took a deep breath, placing your hand on hers. – “Stella, I’m not the one you should be building your walls up to.” – you told her. – “Remember last year?” – you pointed out. Stella nodded, remembering. – “The time I blinded that girl.” – she said looking down. You joined your other hand to hold hers in yours. Your action made her look up to you. – “No, after that.” – you corrected.
Stella smiled saddened at you. – “You were there.” – she said. – “I was there.” – you repeated. – “I was there when you were at your lowest. I kept you going. I made you shine as bright as ever Stella. So… don’t go acting all cold towards me with our history.” – you talked. Stella smiled brighter.
“You are better than Sky.” – she answered. – “You are what I need.” – Stella finished staring at your eyes. You smiled back at her. – “Oh how much better I feel.” – you responded dramatically, making Stella stomp your arm. Laughing loud afterwards. Both of you got up, heading back to the training grounds.
*
You kicked the door open after having heard Stella scream. Her eyes turned to shock when you busted in the room. Your eye immediately fell on her mother. With your batons you went for her mother. Forcing her face down on the desk. Arm between your baton on her back as your other one pressed her back against the desk. – “Y/n!” – Stella called out with tears in her eyes.
“This is the last time that you hurt her!” – you grunted out, pressing her mother’s cheek harder on the desk. Her mother was furious. Squirming under your grip to get free. – “You wait till I am free!” – she threatened. – “Do your worst.” – you responded coldly. Stella stared in shock, hands to her mouth at the display. Her mother raised her hand as Stella caught the faintest of light.
“Y/n!” – she alarmed you. You saw the light as well, quickly pulling back before she could blind you. Your own reaction made you stumble back. Her mother rose, eyes reflecting fury. She pointed her hand at you, casting a blast of light towards you. You fell back against Farah’s bookcase.
Books dropped to the ground with you. Stella gasped loud with tears in her eyes. – “You specialists think you are equal to us!” – she spitted out. Raising her hand as light emerged from it. – “You have just signed your own death.” – she called out. – “No!” – Stella shouted coming to stand in between. Arms wide open. – “Step aside child!” – Her mother casted out.
“No! I won’t let you hurt her!” – Stella defied against her mother. Her mother scoffed amusingly, finding it humorous her daughter would stand up against her. – “I won’t let you touch her!” – Stella replied determined. You looked up amazed to her. Seeing how strong she appeared. Her mother rose her hand either way, ready to cast light at Stella for being in the way.
You got up, wrapping your arms around Stella. Calling it out, you pulled her down with you, before the light could hit her. The light hit the bookcase instead. Making more books drop down. Hitting you and Stella all over.
You had moved your arms around Stella, protecting her. Stella slowly lifted her head, coming close to yours. For a moment the two of you stared at each other. You smiled, brushing your thumb against her cheek. Stella breathed out a smile with tears in her eyes. Her mother scoffed disgusted ready to cast again. You pulled Stella in your embrace to protect her. – “I’m sorry.” – you whispered to her.
Stella hugged you back, tightly. – “Not a word.” – she whispered back. Both of you closed your eyes, waiting for the impact. The door swung open, Farah entering with Saul. Saul launched for Stella’s mother, grabbing her arm and twisting it behind her back. Farah turned to look at you. – “Are you alright girls?” – she asked as Saul escorted Stella’s mother out.
Stella and you stared a bit confused at each other. – “We are.” – Stella spoke with a smile. You helped each other up, embracing one another again.

Real life pov:
Riven waited all morning for Musa to show up for practice. He waited patiently for her but she never came. Sitting against a tree, he wonders why she is not there. He asks himself questions; wondering why she didn't come, what could have prevented her from coming, when from the beginning, she always came. For her, it is so important to know how to defend herself. And that's where it finally tilts in his brain. It's the anniversary of Musa's mother's death. Riven gets up with some guilt. He feels guilty, how could he forget? Does she want to see him on this day so sad for her? Should he leave her alone today? He does not know what to do.
That's how he seems to feel, but deep down, Riven knows very well what he has to do for Musa today.
That's why fifteen minutes later, he finds himself on the landing of the girls' room with a bag full of food. He knocks on the door and Stella, still in her pajamas, opens. The blonde looks down at the bags in Riven's hands with fake disdain and opens the door wide for him to enter.
The girls are all sitting on the big red sofa in the small living room. Just one person is not present. Musa.
Riven doesn't even have time to say anything when Aïsha gets up and says to him: "No."
"Huh? Why no?" Riven asks, fidgeting uncomfortably.
"It's not the day, leave her alone." Add the water fairy.
Putting her hands on her own waist, Stella comes to position herself next to him to take his defense but Aisha still refuses. She doesn't want Musa to go through more than she is already going through. Yet Riven does not understand, he does not want his girlfriend to have a more difficult time, he wants to relieve her of her pain.
After a long debate between Aisha and Riven, the boy is ready to leave, giving up but unexpectedly, clearly to everyone's surprise, Terra raises her voice:
"Let him see her Aïsha."
"What?" said the principal concerned, turning to Terra. "Are you defending him?"
"I'm not defending anyone, I'm just saying that if he wants to see her, we are no one to stop him. Besides, it will surely do Musa good to see him."
Terra is now standing between Riven and Aisha, "What do you mean by that?"
"I mean he helped her a lot with her powers, he helped her by  teaching her how to fight, he helped her with getting over the breakup with my brother, he helped her to be happy and he can surely help her now."
Everyone in the room is speechless. Nobody expected to see Terra take the defense of Riven. And yet.
Aïsha, after a long moment of reflection, nods her head towards the boy to give him her agreement. Riven heads to Musa's room after giving Terra a grateful look.
Riven knocks softly on Musa's bedroom door but doesn't hear an answer. He goes in anyway and silently closes the door behind him. His eyes take time to adjust to the darkness of the room and that's when he sees her. Musa is lying in bed, her knees pulled up to her chest and covered by the blankets. She has her eyes closed but does not sleep. Riven has already slept with Musa enough times to know what she looks like when she's asleep. Calm, relaxed facial features, and there it is not. He knows she's awake but she doesn't move an inch. As if he's not there.
"Hi, I just came to drop you off some food. I'll put it on your desk", The specialist said as he put the bag of food on Musa's messy desk, "If you need to talk I'm here, but don't feel obligated to do anything. We don't even have to talk if you prefer, we can just stay together. But if you really need to be in your own company, no worries. We can see each other another day, just know that you are not alone."
Still getting no reaction from Musa, Riven turns to leave when a voice interrupts him.
"Stay."
Musa's voice is weak, damaged and tear filled and when he turns around he sees her holding the covers for him to lie down with her. He hurries to take off his shoes to go near the brunette whose eyes are red from crying. She doesn't come to snuggle up against him, she stays curled up on herself but Riven knows very well that it's a big step for her to accept his presence today. So he watches her with as much love as he can while she closes her eyes, trying to fall asleep.
Musa has been sleeping peacefully for several hours. Riven doesn't sleep. He prefers to keep an eye on her in case something happens. It was while after he was reading on his phone that he felt something mooving next to him. When he turns his head away from his screen, he looks down to see Musa squealing from the back of her throat, scratching her arm. He grabs her hand to stop her but that causes Musa to cling around Riven's waist. He lets her do. He even comes to put an arm around her, bringing her even closer to him. The fairy's sobs calm down little by little as Riven repeats her soft "It's going to be fine, I'm here and you're safe.", in her ear. Musa's sleep eases but the fairy doesn't loosen her grip around her boyfriend's waist. She clings to him as if he were her buoy during a drowning. And he lets her, because he would do anything to keep Musa's head above water.
A few minutes later, Riven feels Musa move even more. She is waking up. He remains motionless, while she sits up to come and hide her head in the crook of his shoulder and lengthens like that. He puts his arm gently around her. It is in this comfortable silence that he awaits. Sobs, cries and tears are wetting his t-shirt. He lets her do it, she needs it.
"I miss her so much."
He sighs with compassion, cradling her against him with infinite kindness, not daring to say anything.
"I wonder if she's proud of me, if she thinks I'm a good person..."
Riven frowns as Musa tries to stifle her sobs in her boyfriend's t-shirt.
"Muse look at me."
The fairy looks up at him. Her cheeks are dripping with tears, her nose is red, she is biting her bottom lip which is now bleeding and her normally brown eyes are now purple.
"You are the most magnificent star in this entire universe. Even Uranus and Saturn are embarrassed by how much more sparkling you are than them. I didn't knew your mother, but I'm sure your light reaches her where she is and she's proud of you."
After a few seconds of deep silence, she wraps her arms around him: "Thank you... Can I ask you a favor?"
"Of course."
"Would you like to listen to her favorite music with me?"
"All that you want."
