i think about pluto will always be a planet in my room at least once every three months when i rewatch gilmore girls season 7 episode 11 santa's secret stuff and they talk about how pluto isn't a planet anymore

#like ohhh that was kinda crazy it still is.#tome #i think riarkle was my first actual ship they're the first ship i ever read fanfic of before that i'd only read one direction fanfic like #when i was 12 and it was in french and not on ao3 and this fanfic era for me was short lived because the fics i was reading were too sad #like they would make me too upset?/?/))/?#i read this loooong one and all i remember is the self insert character getting cheated on and danielle losing her baby and i was so upset #i cried in my mother's arms which does not sound like me AT ALL and i couldn't even explain why because it was way too silly like oh my #god. so i was like no more fic for you and i really didn't read any until after i started watching gmw seriously in 2016 #i don't read fics for that many ships and when i do i can read fics for the same ship for literal years as long as they don't get together #/aren't together by the end of the show i can literally read it forever idc and so i actually haven't read fic for that many ships #like maybe 6 or 7. which i guess is a lot but like. for one (and i'll never say which one it is (even though it's like. a normal ship and #it's from a show you know i watch/enjoy))#of these i literally read fics like every day for three years. i never get tired of like anything #i read shirbert fanfic same thing every day from summer 2018 to fall 2019 when season 3 aired and i could never read fics of them again #after they got together in the show (even though i knew they would and i had even watched the movies) like once it's done i really can't #make myself care anymore #anywzy. love pluto will always be a planet in my room riarkle you will always be famous!!!!!#and like i say: brf slt #or i guess #gilmore girling

From a storytelling perspective, I think that Tim tried to tell the story he wanted, but after he saw the critics about s2, he changed the story. I think there is a truth in what he said about r*na and the car scene: he started to think about them, but as a backup plan. S2 shows that he tried to make ppl ship Portwell and stop shipping r*na, without actually killing r*na (like he did with ejxnini). This didn't work, so he went with the backup plan. I think that he was smart enough to not close the door for r*na, but saying that they were the plan (the main plan) is def a lie... if that was really the plan, the s2 story would have been different. The discrepance between the end of s2 and the start of s3 says it all. At the end of s2 Gina shows no interest in Ricky and EJ doesn't see him as a threat, meanwhile in 3x1 EJ suddenly sees him as a threat and Gina is shown to still have feelings for him. To make sense, they should have shown these things at the end of s2, but they didn't... So, what I think is that Tim had a lot of faith in Portwell and when he saw that it didn't have the impact he wanted, he went with the backup plan.

I am the kind of person who likes a good slow burn (which isn't the case for r*na). For example (idk if you watched Girl Meets World), Riarkle (Riley and Farkle) was that ship that was def planned from the beginning and was done really well. They were the kind of ship of show and don't tell (not like r*na cough cough). For example, they were shown to have much deeper conversations than the rival ship, Rucas (Riley and Lucas), while the characters kept saying that Rucas was so good at communicating. And this is just one example. Unfortunately, they didn't end up together bc the show was cancelled, but I am 100% sure that they were endgame.

Coming back to hsmtmts, I always tend to pay more attention to ppl's actions than to their words. That's why I, personally, don't believe Tim's words.

honestly anon, you make such a wonderful thesis on why i (and other fans) don't believe Tim when he says rina was the main plan all along.

I love how you bring up Farkle and Riley because we can use them as an example of how a slow burn SHOULD play out. The couple at the time (Riley and Lucas) liked each other, but in fandom spaces no one (or almost no one) liked them together. That's because the show made you feel discomfort with them, like something was missing, like it wasn't quite right. You knew, even when they were at their best, that their relationship wouldn't last forever, it was a means to an end. I think, if Rina was supposed to be endgame all along, this is what they should've done with Rini and Portwell.

In fact, S2's Portwell arc shouldn't have existed all together. They could've easily made them besties and nothing more, while Ricky got out of his terrible relationship with Nini. But they didn't do that. They didn't push you in the direction of shipping rina, in fact they were pushing hard for portwell. Because that was the plan. And then it didn't work out and Tim dusted Rina's relationship and made it a thing again in S3. And they were pushing for rina now, hard.

A good slow burn can have one of the people be in a relationship, Joey and Rachel for example. But the writers don't make the couple more than fun and games, or on the other side of the spectrum, they make them not fit well. In hsmtmts, in my opinion, this wasn't the case at all.

back in the day, you were more a lucaya or a riarkle I'm curious now xD I was riarkle but now I see many things of Riley that facepalm emoji I guess she was her best with him I also find it funny how in the beginning rina was very lucaya for me but now I see it more as a riarkle the type of person you will count on forever but at the same time they have the extra spice that is that can't really be JUST friends so yeah in conclusion I'm curious and rina is perfect

Anon, I love this question! Thank you! It’s really giving me some nostalgia 🥲 I was absolutely a lucaya first and foremost. What can I say, I’m a such for the tough girl/soft boy trope. However, I definitely enjoyed riarkle too. I remember Riley getting on my nerves sometimes too, but a lot of that was because of her character regression (such as when she was with Lucas). Something I really appreciate about these shows I follow so closely, is that they are written with complexity and depth compared to a lot of other shows. Everything from the staging, the dialogue, the scene structure… it’s all very intentional. I think this is why you might be seeing parallels to rina and lucaya/riarkle.

My favorite ships have been the ones that we can observe closely and see the characters individual arcs reflects in the romantic arc of their partner as well. The ones where they literally need the other person to become a better version of themselves. And typically you can see them from a mile away. They’re the will they/won’t they, slow burns of the shows. You can just tell how much love and care are put into telling their stories and making them whole and complete. I’m not surprised my timeline went Lucaya->Muffy->Rina. They really pay off in their full circle moments. :)

Hi. I've been following you since we were Bamon and then riarkle and then reylo shippers. These were good times. I've seen you are now in other fandoms and I kind of don't know most of them. Just wanted to say i hope we can share another one in the future again. Which are your otps right now? I also used to follow your bamon fics, the ones in Spanish in your old ff.net acc, will you ever finish them?

ANON!!!! Omg!!! Hi!! First of all, thanks for reading those old fics, some were a big mess so I'm so glad you were able to go through. Sadly, I don't think I'll ever come back to them, sorry :s (i have one unpublished book!bamon one in spanish that I may share in the future, though---but in the new acc).

And wow, we've really been together for a long ride! If we have shared so many ships, I think is only a matter of time to meet again, we seem to share quite a lot of ships after all!

I have tons of ships, as you may know, but my current obsession, my biggest otps for the time being are Levihan (they're so precious together and literal soulmates I swear! She scanned her surroundings, taking in everything and anything that could either be used for her gain, or against her.

"On my mark," The man said.

"Thalatha.. " The grip on her bow tightened.

"Athnan.. " She knocked in an arrow and aimed.

"Wahid!" The sound of the wind as the arrow sailed across the field was satisfying. It was even more satisfying when she heard a loud clang resonated through the open space. She grinned.

"Your aim has improved much in these last few months."

"Shukraan alsyd. " Anyone could visibly see that she was beeming with joy.

"I am glad to inform that your training is nearly complete."

"Where does the council suggest the order be rebuilt?"

"We, of the council, have sensed great dark magic in the city of Gotham. We advise you to start there. There is also a past holder settled there. They have offered their guidance, should the need for it arises."

"And when do I leave, alsyd?"

"Sunrise. In a weeks time."

"Very well."

Hushed voices could be heard from inside the room. For the untrained ears, they would not be able to have heard a word. However, to her, the conversation sounded as clear as glass.

"Will you follow her to Gotham?" She voiced it as if already knowing the answer.

"Unfortunately, this is where Nette's path and I part. I still have matters to attend in the other-realm."

"I understand."

At that, she stepped into the room.

"You're not going with me?" She asked both the occupants of the room, Félix and Kagami.

They both looked at each other before Kagami sighed and looked at her.

"Don't get us wrong, we really want to go with you, Mari-Hime. It's just... Mother wants me back in Japan. There is a family meeting. Fé... He has some... matters to settle in you-know-where. "

Mari nodded her head in understanding.

"Does the media believe what we told them that happened?"

"Well, some people didn't take it to well. Mainly Jagged and your parents. Luka also. Other than that, the world believes you dead."

"Good. Let's leave it at that. Easier for me to rebuild the Order. I can't keep living in the past" Marinette said.

Though it would seem as if she was metaphorically speaking, it was true. Félix had the power to time-jump and had brought her and Kagami into the past. Specifically, twenty years back. When the Order was still thriving. (See notes at the end for an explanation)

See, Félix was a past holder of old. Like, really really old. He was cursed to forever live on, witnessing those he loved die infront of him. The curse was brought as a side effect of abusing the magic of the rabbit miraculous. He had befriended Fu during his time finding a cure for the curse and had found out of Marinette through his last plea to help the girl before he died.

The reason Kagami was there too was because she had come to Marinette's aid when Tikki asked for help when she was severely injured during that last akuma attack. It helped that the both of them could pass as twins, minus the eyes of course.

Just then, someone knocked on the door.

"Marinette, it is time for your afternoon meditation."

"Be there in a minute."

With that she faced Félix and Kagami once more and wished them both well before she headed out.

It had been five months. Five freaking months since the soulmate connection literally just vanished from existence. Though if he concentrated hard enough, it would sort of appear, he was still worried.

What the hell happened to her?

Damian was getting more worried as the days passed. Especially what he found during his search for his soulmate, Marinette. She was... proclaimed dead in Paris, though a body was never found.

Though he knew Marinette was still very much alive, it left him to ponder where she was and what was going on.

It was a week later when Damian finally sensed her again.

Marinette looked out the window of the plane. She had boarded about two hours ago, already having said goodbye to Kagami in Paris and Félix before he went to the other-realm.

Yes, she could have used Kaalki to get to Gotham, however that wouldn't be quite... legal and she hadn't wanted to cause any trouble. She was already in enough precaution since people technically thought her dead.

From inside her coat pocket, she could feel the slight tightening embrace of Tikki. Subtly trying to comfort her holder and tell her that everything would be alright.

Little did they both know that everything to come would be pretty... chaotic.

Notes:

Félix Culpa was a past holder and due to him abusing the time/rabbit miraculous he was cursed to watch his loved ones die in front of him while he lived on forever immortal. He was old friends with Fu.

Kagami is there cuz Tikki asked her to help and she told her mom she was training in Tibet with some legendary Swords men.

you know what? i had made a promise with myself a long while ago that i wouldn’t start posting a fic until i had it mostly finished. so the end result was a billion unfinished docs and like a couple of years since i posted a fic. that will not fly, so i present to you my lizzie mcguire movie au fic!!

Riley decides that graduating, going to college . . . it’s not going to change them. They’re best friends til the end, and that’s something that no one can change. That is, until they travel to Rome for an end of summer trip.

Anything can happen the Eternal City; Venus would make sure of it.

You, Riley Matthews, are graduating high school today. It’s no biggie.

Just breathe.

Riley stared at herself in the mirror a long while, rubbing furiously at her cheeks as she studied herself. She was Riley Matthews, daughter of Cory and Topanga, sister to Auggie, and soon-to-be high school graduate. Soon after, she’d be living it up for one last summer before her and her friends parted ways to attend college.

It felt like everything was moving too fast.

“Riles, you ready or what?”

Her best friend, Maya Hart, swung through her bay window as was tradition for them for the past thirteen years. Maya was already dressed in her cap and gown, her powder-blue dress almost peeking through the bottom hem. Riley sighed, shrugging.

“Peaches, do you really think we’re ready to graduate?” she asked, sitting down on the edge of her bed in a huff. Maya plopped down next to her.

“Riley Matthews, you’re the one who’s taught me to be more positive in life. Where’s that positivity today?”

“It just feels like everything is moving too fast. I mean, we’re almost in college!” Riley exclaimed.

“Yeah, but for now, we’re still eighteen, we’re still all in the same place, and we’re about to graduate high school. One thing at a time, yeah?” Maya stood up, offering her hand. Riley took it, smiling as she rose from the bed.

“Definitely,” Riley agreed.

“What’s taking you guys so long?” Farkle appeared in the window, stretching inside to greet them. He wasn’t wearing his red gown, but rather had it draped over his arm, showing off his form-fitting black slacks, navy blue button-up, and tie that was decorated with planets.

“Riley was just having a small crisis,” Maya told him, “But we got through it. Are you ready for graduation now, Riles?”

Riley shook her head.

“Do I look like I’m ready? I still have to put my makeup on! This is an important day, Maya!”

“You heard the woman, Maya. She still has to put on her makeup,” Farkle quipped, a small smirk on his face, “Though, in my opinion, you look really gorgeous already.”

“Hush, you!” Riley shouted, her cheeks burning a noticeable red.

“Ándale! We’ve got urgent matters to attend to!” Maya nudged Riley out the door, casting a look over her shoulder, “Hold the fort down, will ya, Farkle?”

Farkle rolled his eyes, collapsing onto Riley’s bed.

“As always,” he said, waiting patiently for the girls to finish getting ready.

Yeah, they were going to be a little late, but Riley knew Farkle wouldn’t have his girls any other way.

“Geez, you guys really know how to push the time limit,” Zay commented as they met at the glass doors of the building they were graduating in. Smackle was holding onto his arm, nodding in agreement.

“Indeed. Have you tried setting an alarm, perhaps? Those certainly do help.”

“Smackle,” Lucas chided, but only light-heartedly. “Now c’mon, guys. The faculty is getting really peeved that all of the graduates aren’t in their seats already.”

The group moved toward the main part of the building where the graduates were to be seated, breaking off into their separate sections once they were inside. Riley and Farkle headed in the same direction towards the middle section while Maya, Lucas, Zay, and Smackle all headed left or right. Riley then departed from Farkle, going where the “Ma” last names were, while Farkle headed for the “Mi” last names. They parted with a soft “Good luck”, and Riley realized she truly was on her own this time.

All she had to do was wait for the co-valedictorians to speak (Farkle and Smackle, of course), then listen out for her name to be called. Easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy.

No worries.

Graduation actually went . . . well. Well, Riley did trip a little on her way up the steps to receive her diploma, but other than that, it went smooth. And when they all threw their caps in the air, Riley felt a giddiness bubble up inside her, and she knew she was going to be alright. And once they were released, her and the rest of the gang (along with their parents) made a beeline towards Topanga’s for graduation photos and to hang out just like they always had for the past few years.

“Aw, I feel like you all grew up too fast on me,” Topanga cried, bringing Farkle, Maya, and Riley in for a tight hug.

“Mom,” Riley faux-complained, a smile playing at her cheeks.

“You guys need to stay little forever!” she continued, only letting them go when all three of them began to struggle for air.

“You’ll always be my favorite mom away from my mom,” Maya laughed.

“Ditto,” Farkle chuckled.

“Well, you three better get in a group before we take pictures of all of you together! C’mon, huddle together!” Riley, Farkle, and Maya did as was instructed, lining up together with Farkle in the middle, their arms around each other. Topanga took out her phone and snapped a billion photos before Cory stepped in, making Topanga give them a little room.

“I love your mom,” Maya grinned as Topanga headed towards the back to grab snacks for everyone.

“Me too,” Riley replied.

“So guys, what are we going to do now? We’ve got a whole summer ahead of us for adventure!” Farkle exclaimed.

“Speak for yourselves. You two are headed to Rome for a couple of weeks in July! You guys are going to have the best adventure without me!” Maya pointed out.

“Nah, not without you, Peaches. Besides, it’s just Rome. What possible adventure could we have in Rome, Italy?” Riley asked. Maya jabbed her in the side with her elbow, giving her a look of disdain.

“We promise to not have too much fun without you, Maya,” Farkle told her, crossing his heart.

“Exactly. We’ll fill in two whole months’ worth of fun that will by far surpass any fun that might come out of Italy. That I’m sure of,” Riley promised. “I mean, what can really happen? It’s Italy.”

How I started shipping my fav couples (canon/non-canon)

Part 1: Riarkle (Non-Canon)

This is a post about the timeline of how I started to ship characters on every tv show I watched.

My shipping days didn’t start until I started watching Girl Meets World. I’m an old soul, so I’ve watched Boy Meets World and was so excited to hear about the spinoff.

Before Girl Meets World, every show I had watched up until that point was just watching for enjoyment. I didn’t ship anyone with anybody, even if they had unmatched chemistry. I just watched the show because I liked the storyline and couldn’t care less about the couples or love triangles on the show (in fact I was annoyed by it, like can we just see the storyline please??)

Ah, to be young *stares longingly at the sky*

This is going to get long so...

Back to my point, it wasn’t until I started watching Girl Meets World (GMW) that I started to recognize the couples on the show. It all started with that fateful episode (Girl Meets STEM) Now before this episode, all I saw was another overused trope where the good guy nerd was in love with their girl best friend but she didn’t notice or care and set her eyes on some hot guy with no depth to his character.

But after that episode, everything changed, it was the day I first heard of the ship Riarkle. That’s right. My first ship was Riley and Farkle and with good reason too. They exhibited strong chemistry from the start of the episode and when the scene where Farkle admitted that he was wrong and he should have let Riley do the work or something like that, Riley wasn’t expecting Farkle to apologize and they look at each other and stare longingly into each other's eyes. (As shown in the gif above.) That’s what did it for me. The second I saw the scene happening, my head was going, “Are they dating? They should date!”

After that, I’ve never looked back. Every single moment between them now had meaning and I continued watching the show purely for Riley and Farkle in hopes they get together.

Actually, Riarkle is the whole reason why I have a Tumblr.

I didn’t even ship Riley and Lucas, that’s how strong the ship Riarkle was and I’ll forever be bitter that the show was canceled before the writers could even explore their relationship. Here is a couple of gifs to bless you. And check out my page for the other parts of my series!

Sometimes it pains me how blatantly lucaya and riarkle were gonna be endgame. How S3 ended with Maya not wanting to improve herself bc that would mean she was pretending to be someone else even if she had been so happy. With no one other than Lucas realizing she was growing for good and becoming happier, but then anxiety and pressure of others got the best of her and she went back to the stereotype she thought she had to fullfill of being a “problematic” girl to balance Riley and pulled away from Lucas. It ends with Lucas thinking Riley is the person he’s supposed to be with because she’s like him, and everyone says so, and Maya has pulled away anyways (even if he was unhappy af when Josh and her talked afterwards). With Lucas never accepting his past self but rather forever thinking he is supposed to be this Prince Charming like Riley thinks he is and thus he goes with her because that’s what he thinks he has to do to become prince charming, even if he was the happiest when Maya teased him and Maya saw him for the flawed and normal person he was. No pedestal. It ends with Riley thinking she has to be with Lucas because that was her first crush and she supposes her story has to be the same as her parents and doesn’t realize the whole point is that she has to write her own story. It ends with Riley still putting these fictional images she has of people in a pedestal, from her parents’ past to the way she thinks Lucas and Maya are supposed to behave. And so she never really grows up much and never truly writes her own story as much as she says she does. It ends with Riley feeling lost that time she had a bad grade and the only person who managed to get through her was Farkle, not for the first nor last time. With both of them connecting in a way not even her and Maya have done, but turning their backs on that because both still think there’s a story supposed to be written with a prince charming and first loves and don’t realize they are supposed to write their own destinies. It ends with Farkle not being crazy in love of Smackle, even if he used to be such a passionate person, because he likes her enough and she likes him and thus he thinks that’s as much as there is for him. Because he knows he is not prince charming and so he belittles himself. It ends with Smackle always making remarks of how she wants more of a relationship in comedic and subtle ways but ultimately no one takes those comments seriously. With her not understanding the whole “parts of a fairytale” everyone seems to think they are supposed to follow, but she is new and she is shy and apart from physical affection she hasn’t grown much either so rather she stays quiet and keeps making subtle remarks hidden through jokes. It ends with Zay being the only one who lowkey realizes all of this, but doesn’t know how to word it. But also, he never got a storyline apart from being the friend and comedic relief.

It ends with all these kids having a mess of feelings. It ends with S3, the season of “feelings” and with everyone expectating S4 the season of “growing a realizations” to never arrive and thus all these kids never actually managed to figure out their feelings and be genuinely happy bc it ends with each and every one of them choosing to go down the path of what they think is expected from them rather than what makes them actually happy. With them not realizing they are the ones who are supposed to write their own stories, but rather all of them break and bend themselves in order to force themselves to fit into these molds and characters even if they aren’t being true to themselves or their hearts.

And that’s the biggest tragedy of a cancelled show.

I truly still wished we had one last season. Even if it’s in the form of a book or comic book. These characters deserve closure.
