late night thoughts:
kudos an das writing team like you're kinda fcked up but you're also a genius

Just a fluffy fic about how spencer reid x reader would act during a case seasons 13-15 being all professional but also domestic??? Idk I need this for rewatching CM during break, please and thank you!
Working with your boyfriend has been one of the best things ever. You weren't sure if it would be when you first started dating, but you never get sick of spending all of your time with him.
One thing you don't do together is make it overtly obvious you're a couple while you're out on cases. It's mostly because it seems inappropriate with your job, and on the rare occasion, it's dangerous.
You still get lots of cuddles and kisses, it just happens during the time you're back in your hotel room at night. Work is for professionalism, so that's probably why most local police you deal with don't know that you're dating.
Being with Spencer is so natural that sometimes you don't notice the things you're doing. Your permanent close proximity has you doing things has had you showing up to work wearing his clothing more than once.
This time, it's Spencer being too comfortable with you that accidentally reveals your relationship. It's nothing crazy like getting caught in a makeout session, but as you sit around the conference room table having dinner, Spencer reaches for your soda without any hesitation and drinks it.
Maybe it would be lost on everyone, but he does it right after you've taken a drink and while he's talking, so everyone's attention is on him and your soda.
"Are you two involved?" One of the detectives interrupts, but both of them look shocked.
"Oh, they're involved." Rossi jokes, earning laughs and sniggers from members of the team.
Spencer blushes bright red next to you like it's still a big secret and not everyone knows, and you laugh. It's so adorable when he does that. "Yeah." You confirm to clear up any confusion. "We're together."

Season 15 post Restoration thoughts
Back when Restoration was first announced I rewatched the shisno trilogy to weigh the pros and cons of everything getting retconned. I’ve decided now that Restoration has aired to do another rewatch like that but this time more just general thoughts and headcanons
welp let’s get started!
Oh hey this is actually funny
Still say Dylan’s original cameraman was funnier, they should’ve kept him instead of Jax. Frank you will always be famous to me.
KAIKAINA MY BELOVED
Bringing back Vic was a big brained move fr
On the topic of Vic I’ve always liked the theory that he was actually one of the alpha fragments, specifically the love fragments… hmm things to consider
The whole situation on chorus is also interesting… further things to consider
Oh hey look at that Dr. Grey actually sounds like herself. What a wild concept.
The reds and blues are actually friends and act like it? WHAT A WILD CONCEPT
Grimmons closet sex you will always be famous to me
But also Church basically writing gay smut of his friends is very funny
Man this is actually funny. Wild concept.
Nah but there’s a legit joke about them getting a bad movie bro predicted the future
Canon band au
I love how all the things Carolina mentions happening are so low key compared to the others. Like yeah Grif convincing Simmons GoT was real is wild meanwhile there’s actual dinosaurs
Yeah the whole red team and blue team thing IS outdated. Concept wild.
Genuinely love how you can tell just how much Carolina loves these idiots and their shenanigans. Such a concept.
“No he means Church” frothing at the mouth
OH HEY THEY GENUINELY CARE ABOUT EACH OTHER AND ABOUT CHURCH. WILDEST OF CONCEPTS
“I’m not in the military anymore” yeah Grif that sure is a GREAT point. Concepts are wild.
But also can’t believe we’ve had to watch grimmons get divorced twice
PROTECTIVE TUCKER MY BELOVED
Dead beat dad Tucker jokes my BELOATHED
Man remembering the characters ranks. Really concept the wild.
“We’re having fish” bro why did you say it like that makes you sound like a cannibal 💀
Loco you will always be famous to me
“You don’t have to destroy the past to have a future” what a great way to show that you can let go of the past and trauma while also honoring the memories of those you lost. Concepts really do be wild sometimes.
Damn I think I’m coming back around on carwash- I am not immune to hand holding and funny take off your suit bits. Platonic or romantic they make me feral. I’ll take it either way.
Freelancer death room is a genuinely cool and fucked up scene
As much as I’m enjoying this rewatch I still can’t stand the Sarge butchering that starts in this season and just get progressively worse
SERIOUSLY VIC IS A FRAGMENT HE LITERALLY SAYS “it’s me!” IN REFERENCE TO THE ALPHA
Y’all were right Temple is totally gay for Biff
Oh god I forgot about the shitty animation
Also werent the simulation bases started after Tex fled from PF?? And also after Carolina went MIA???
Rip Biff bro did not deserve that but to be fair the second he said his girl was pregnant he was doomed by the narrative
Caboose cursing my beloved
Donut is a furry confirmed
TUCKER ASKING CABOOSE HIS THOUGHTS AND EVEN AGREEING AHDKGAKSH
While I am enjoying this rewatch I think I figured out what always bugged me about this season. The reds and blues are the wrong kind of dumb. Like yeah they’re idiots but you seriously didn’t consider once that the blues and reds might be lying to you? Especially after everything that happened on Chorus?? But especially Carolina and Wash not really questioning it??? Like idk it just feels off
Temple has so much potential as a villain cause like he’s not wrong… and I think evil sim troopers is such a cool concept…much to be considered
Oh actually acknowledging how much they’ve accomplished especially on Chorus?? Of concepts to be wild
Another thing that bugs me is this constant use of “good guy/bad guy” language. just feel off for the themes of RvB.
Ah yeah Grif’s volleyballs
Grif might be able to give Wash a run for his money on that Sarge impersonation
LOCUS!!!!!
Locus-Grif team up my beloved
METAL GEAR REFERENCE SPOTTED !
EVERYONE BEING PROTECTIVE OF CABOOSE
But also I think Caboose not understanding death is weird like yeah he’s dumb but again not that kind of dumb??? Idk just one of those things that doesn’t entirely sit right with me
I do like the interactions between him and the team tho
Loopy Wash my beloved
Again will never forgive what they did to Sarge
Locus is gonna steal yo kneecaps
Ah yes Church’s obsession with fucking up Wash continues.
Honestly in hindsight I don’t actually love Wash getting shot. It really feels like they just use him as an angst punching bag because he’s a fan favorite. And this is coming from someone who LOVES angst
Also I feel like Tucker rushing out is ooc when a big part of his arc on Chorus was him doing that, getting people killed, and then learning that sometimes you gotta think things through. Kind of the start of how they undid and then redid his arc
OKAY BUT GRIF AND TUCKER MOMENT!!!!!!
Okay again this weird insistence of all the enemies being comically evil shitty people is very antithetical to the core themes are RvB
Everybody shut the fuck up the Caboose and Tucker moment after Caboose ties the guys shoelaces together is so fucking cute holy shit I am frothing at the mouth I love them so much
My hatred for anything time travel related remains
AUDIBLE GASP
GRIMMONS WHY ARE WE HERE MOMENT MY BELOVED
Yeah Sarge your monologues ARE better. Sure wish they’d remember what those monologues actually meant for your character development. Wilds the concept huh.
Man Grif choosing to stay with his friends no matter what. Truly concept in my wilds.
LOCO NOOOOOOOOOO!!
Oh god they hit you with the Caboose feels that should be illegal
Still don’t like that Caboose got to say goodbye tho. I said it last time but it’s too- fairytale-ish. The themes of grief in rvb have always been about how it’s unfair and a lot of the times you don’t get to say goodbye and you don’t get closure but you still have to learn to let go and move on despite it all. Want it noted this is also a criticism I have of the Chex stuff in restoration.
Furthermore Tucker really was prepared to create a time paradox in order to bring back Church AND THEY JUST NEVER CIRCLED BACK AROUND TO THAT???? Bro Tucker grieves Church so much and they just never address it
Also Vic’s sacrifice is further proof that he’s an alpha fragment
GRIF SIBLINGS MY BELOVEDS!!!!!!
Dylan’s speech at the end is very good and it makes me love the simulation headcanon more cause that means it’s technically Church, or at least what Church believes/hopes the world would think of the reds and blues.
Also can’t believe Temple, Bucky, and Cronut are all still alive and they just never brought them back in any way.
ALSO CAROLINA SINGING AKHSKAHSKHDKSJ
CABOOSE DRUM SOLO
Alright then that’s seasons 15! …. On my hands and knees begging for forgiveness S15 TAKE ME BACK IM SORRY I WAS EVER MEAN TO YOU!
But in all seriousness I’m way more open to this as a possibility of what happens next than I am Restoration. This is just glorified fanfiction and like it’s fun! I have fun watching it! I’ve got my complaints but still at least it gets that these characters care about each other. It may not have the strongest writing but it’s not terrible and you’ll catch me rewatching it and enjoying it from time to time.
… do I have to watch s16- can’t I just skip it? Please no amount of Restoration sucking is going to make me like that season. I might just skip it and if I’m ever feeling more up to it I’ll circle back around to it. In all honesty I think 16 and Restoration are on the same level for me. Bad seasons that I mostly ignore but I will on very rare occasions rewatch them if not just to bitch and complain. I do think Restoration is a little better than 16 but still easily in the top 3 worst seasons of RvB.
Welp in that case you will most likely see me talking about s17 next unless I’m just really feeling the self hatred enough to watch 16

SVU Rewatch thoughts 15-16
This is random but I wanted to share. I've realized how much I've changed over the years while watching this show. I was around 18 when season 16 came out and I perceive it so much differently now that I'm older and have been through more hardship and heartbreak.
When I originally watched it I was a huge fan of Nick and Amanda being together and didn't understand why their relationship wasn't truly noted and skimmed over. Rewatching it I know why. It was an absolute clusterfuck and a total mistake. It has to be one of, if not the most, toxic SVU relationship ever. They were so bad for each other. He was hurting and wanted to save her and she did not want to be a victim or saved at all. She liked to push his buttons for his reaction and he gave it. It was so BAD. Thank you, unhealthy childhood for making me not see toxic.
I also loved Amanda, and I still do like her in later seasons but she was AWFUL in season 15 to the point where I could barely stand watching her episodes and didn't really feel bad for her like I felt I should. She has no repercussions for any of her bad choices. Nick has to be a traffic cop because he beat up a pedophile but she can be a full-out dirty cop to try to get away with her gambling problem and it's okay because Murphy is there to save her? And she is sleeping with him.
Okay, just two more thoughts that I had if anyone cares.
16x1: I forgot how mean Carisi played in his first episode. Empty promises about citizenship to those trafficked girls to get them to flip- broke my heart. (Granted I've never watched seasons 17-21 so I didn't get to really see his character development but I plan to) That scene with the girl where he is yelling at her telling her to call and get somebody who will take it rough- that's what he was there for? Shit surprised me, I don't remember it at all. I love Carisi so much and would never want to change his character but he would have been so fun to watch as a suspect again or a dirty cop.
16x3: The scene with Nick and Noah confirms in my Amaro-loving heart that had the writers been nice to him and given him a healthy relationship Nick would have had a house full of adorable Latino babies. I think had he had a supportive romantic partner he wouldn't have gotten himself into as much trouble either. He had no emotional support or affection. I mean look at who he was paired with:
Maria- won't tell him their relationship is over, hides things from him and makes him jealous, totally overreacts when he does get jealous, causes huge scenes at his workplace, puts his partner/ boss in the middle of their drama, takes away his daughter that HE was raising BY HIMSELF while she was at war, makes it a hard and painful process for him to see his daughter with no leeway, tries to get him to move across the country on false pretenses of their relationship continuing, then when he says he won't let her take Zara threatens to ruin his career.
Cynthia- Please don't make me go there. I absolutely hated this whole arc.
Amanda- I already told you how I felt about this one.
The man was fucked from day one.

What is it?
A scheduled rewatch for 2010-15 SyFy show Haven; imdb.com/title/tt1519931/
Are you hosting watch parties?
No. This is more like a book club concept; watch on your own time and discussions happen throughout the week (one nominated episode each week).
What if I don't have time to watch the episode, can I still join the discussion? Can I join some weeks and not others? What if I don’t want to rewatch the whole thing?
There is no minimum commitment; come and go as you need. Not everyone will want to watch all the seasons and that's fine; drop out any time you like. Or join any time!
Does it matter if I haven't watched the show before?
Everyone is very welcome, but be aware the discussions will likely contain spoilers.
Where will discussions be happening?
Here on this blog; there will be a post here each week to confirm the episode. Feel free to reblog with your thoughts in the comments or tags, send an Ask, Submit a post or tag @havenfanrewatch in your own posts.
(Given the unreliability of tumblr notifications, feel free to also send a message to say you've posted something if you want it reblogged here.)
There is also the Haven discord, with a shiny new rewatch channel just for these discussions!
Wait, there's a Haven discord? Can I join?
Yes and yes! Here's a link; https://discord.com/invite/tTmHeUGpm9

Are there any discussion rules?
All ships welcome!!
No hard and fast rules. We'll try and focus on the episode of the week, but feel free to refer back to or catch up with earlier episodes as well.
Be aware that not some people might not want to discuss the final season. Other than that, just keep it civil and polite; no personal insults. Everyone is free to interpret the show in their own way.
Tumblr media

Ok, so I'm just gonna apologize in advance, I'm sorry, I know you're probably sick of these types of asks. I was gonna wait till call the polls were done, but since you've been talking about how you've already started brainstorming ideas, it like I should probably just say this idea sooner rather later. So, have you considered using the power system you used for your A Declaration of Love and in your old "Miraculous Fox and Peacock powers" post. I felt it would be fitting since these new powers (like the ones in that fic and post) are based on the animal's symbolism, and this setup could allow for multiple powers. Plus, these new versions of the miraculous feel much like a return to back to how we thought the miraculous would be before season two so it could feel fitting.
Nah don't worry about it. And votes seem to be slowing down for the polls, and I've been itching to get brainstorming so might as well get into it.
With these polls, and plans being made to change, I've actually been gradually rewatching Miraculous, taking notes on eps and on characters to refresh myself and it's just taking me back to that time before s2, and just how creative and fun it was to get into ML fanworks. As it gave us so little info we had to get creative.
Like, on artist who used to do really cool ML art suspected Wayzz was a Grasshopper before we got the confirmation of him being a Turtle.
And man I found I enjoyed those days more, as what a lot of people thought of was far more interesting and fun than what we got. And everything that came post s2 really kinda railroaded us and stifled that creativity.
And a lot of the things brought in were:
Frustrating, like Miraculous are more powerful for adults, which why did Fu pick 2 kids and not do anything to help even the playing field? And we got the confirmation he has 16-17 Miraculous on him, why did he release the very two Gabriel needed? Especially as, arguably, Cat's just not that necessary for facing the Butterfly. Also! There's honestly more powerful perks to misusing a Miraculous, why are they so easy to misuse? And according to Paris Special, why is it that Miraculous are willing to gradually kill off kids misusing them, but won't do anything to adults who misuse them? This is all rigged.
Pointless, like the potions, which aren't really "power ups" but just suit changes. Changes that Miraculous already naturally do as the suit comes down to the user. If someone loves ice skating and it's naturally integrated into their suit, the Ice Potion is pointless.
And just entirely baffling: the entirety of the Rabbit, and Alix, a 15 yo girl, being made to be the Timekeeper, live away from her family and friends to manage the timeline, which, why is that being given to a human? Who are going to be biased and not neutral, made worse to be given to a 15 yo who's not fully matured, and clearly we see her involving herself in the timeline which I'm not sure she should be doing as that's influencing outcomes. And why did they even think a time traveling Miraculous was a good idea? That power is so OP and can get so easily complicated you can get a headache trying to make sense of what they rolled out with it. And honestly, what does time traveling have to do with Alice in Wonderland? If they wanted to really reference AiW with Rabbit, I would've voted dream hopping, cause dreams are wild, imaginative, chaotic, and nonsensical. And that could've worked in ties to the moon as people sleep at night, and that could've been tied to healing too, as dreams can be tied to the subconscious, and you could've done something with dream influence and help people face what they're dealing with. Or if Rabbit had to be another time related Miraculous, do something with influencing the flow of time, either slowing it down so the user appears to be going fast, or speeding up the motion of the user and others and objects.
Tangent aside, I am going to be aim to dismiss and change a lot of what canon has brought in and just kinda go back to working off those old days. I am planning on working off a lot of animal symbolism and myth, and some details that Thomas has rolled out I'll consider (like Pied Piper was a Fox, which suggests Fox should have also have a power tied to hypnosis/subconscious suggestion through music). And just go back to those days where we were more creative and better worked off the possibilities with animals. And ideally do some uniqueness that's not going to have a lot of similar powers, aside from healing and mass restoration, as I feel if there's going to be any repeated powers, those would make the most sense.
I will give ADoL a reread (cause it's been years and typically when I get a fic done, it goes out of my mind as I'm not giving anymore attention to it, so I don't remember everything with it); and it's just a little funny as this is the fic that gets brought up to me the most on relating to Miraculous and kwami changes. Like, Nobody has mentioned to me that Juuno was their favorite take on the Peafowl kwami's personality before canon rolled out ditzy and emotional Duusu. Which maybe got toned down post fixing? I'm not sure. Either way, it gets brought a lot and I don't remember everything so I'll be giving it a reread to refresh myself.

hey so not too long ago, i saw a post from rz twitter that said that during the first loop where subaru meets otto, when subaru met the witch cultists and were chanting something to subaru before they left, that these cultists left because some outsider (who's therefore an enemy to their witch and its prophecy) was nearby. And the tweet said how that "nearby outsider" was actually otto who stayed behind because he was worried that subaru, (whom he met only as a customer in that loop and otto had already fulfilled his job) would succumb to danger. And despite frufoo's warnings, it's heavily implied that otto had in fact died in that loop waiting for subaru to come back. And the replies were saying that it's common knowledge?
First of all, is that true? I can see how one would come to the conclusion that the cultists left because otto, an outsider, was nearby. But i haven't seen proof of the implication that otto died from that loop. Secondly, with this perhaps being true, does that confirm that any loop in which otto was nearby and subaru is in danger, that otto risked his life for him? Some ppl say "but the whale incident!" But like you said way earlier, otto came back to him after pushing him off, and it's implied that he died trying to save subaru. There's no loop i can recall otto leaving him to the dust, even when he doesn't know who subaru is. And thirdly, Otto get some self-preservation skills, you barely knew the guy and already risk your life for him. What the fuck.
HAH anon your ask intrigued me so much i immediately went to the anime to try and confirm this. and bc the anime is the closest bit of info i got wjdndn i dont have arc 3 ln or access to arc 3 wn (i do not understand japanese either, sadly) but!! while the anime doesnt explicitly confirm otto died in that first loop his character debuted in, i think its definitely a possibility that he died to the witch cult there. (if anyone knows the lore on this for sure though feel free to add?? yeah)
also regarding about whether this is common knowledge or not—id argue its kind of not, at least in certain circles, bc im gonna be completely real i had to double check the anime to see how well i remembered it bc its 1. been a while since i’ve watched season 1 in full and 2. when i was looking at it on my first watch i was focused more so on what the hell was happening to subaru, rem, emilia camp rather than otto, who at the time seems like just some random guy who wont appear ever again. but also maybe im a little too used to people misinterpreting rezero over on reddit ajfbdnd bc some people STILL completely forget that otto went back after pushing subaru off the wagon. and some people still forget ottos died for subaru even though its super obvious in arc 4?? so i dont think ottos involvement with subaru across loops is really common knowledge? or at the very least its not common for Certain portions of the rezero fandom bc i see ottos whole fixation on subaru gets glossed over at times. but i do genuinely think moments like the first loop with otto are probably easy to sort of miss if youre not paying attention. but also again i might be a little bit brainwashed by rezero redditors misreading things bc the amount of people that forget otto went back for subaru in the white whale loop made me doubt my own memory of that scene to the point where i rewatched it in the anime just to be sure wkdndnd. i dont really see any english rezero people talk about this loop in particular too unless theyre referring to you know, rem arlam and emilia camp dying. but anyway moving on for now…
alright!! lets go over this scene i suppose. the anime doesnt go into like. Specifics, like how the tweets you mention do anon, but it does have some interesting stuff.
in the anime, the first loop with otto happens in episode 14 to about the beginning of 15, but the focus is of course more so on subaru, rem, arlam, etc, bc rem left for the mansion and subarus trying to get there quickly so he pays otto to do that. otto takes the time to warn him before they even set off, not only for his own sake but also for subarus:
Tumblr media
but you know, bc ottos desperate for money bc hes in debt, he takes up the job. but once otto and subaru actually get to the road leading up to arlam and the mansion, otto stops bc frufoo’s frightened and shes warning them of danger—
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but subaru being subaru jumps off anyway and leaves. he says this quickly before he goes:
Tumblr media
otto replies by trying to call out to him desperately as he runs away:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
your point about ottos self preservation is super interesting anon because otto DOES have self preservation skills. he almost kind of prides himself on it, sometimes—as a merchant, especially from a merchant family, hes been raised to treasure it. to go for things that work in his favor. especially with his bad luck fucking him over too. and he can be slightly morally ambiguous at times, so he is Very aware of self preservation and staying out of trouble. but at the same time, leaving behind innocents does kind of weigh on him bc. well hes still human. that and the further into rezero you get, the more clear it is that ottos self preservation skills just get thrown out the window the moment he sees subaru. like otto takes a significant amount of time on screen to complain about danger or trouble hes found himself in, or go on and on about how the moment he sees danger, hes just gonna turn around and run—but its just COMPLETE AND TOTAL BULLSHIT SOMETIMES. he has plenty of chances Every Time to turn around and run and the moment subaru enters the picture, he doesnt take it. the only exception to this was him leaving subaru in greed if, but thats because he saw that subaru didnt give a shit about him and even then. he made that choice FOR subaru’s sake too, bc he recognizes that greed if subaru is just gonna micromanage everything and deal with it on his own. otto knows he’d just be another burden to subaru, so he leaves to lessen the load.
main route otto though? yeah youre absolutely right his self preservation is way beyond dead at this point. his self preservation is absolutely gone when it comes to subaru. this first loop is an example of it—while of course ottos you know treating subaru like a stranger bc thats what they are, he goes out of his way to warn subaru repeatedly. at first it looks like its mostly just for his own benefit bc hes Also in danger here, but then he says that he cant just accept taking subarus money and items. he talked about how hed accept subarus payment just a few minutes before this?? and we know in retrospect that he desperately NEEDS money bc hes in debt??? and subarus giving him an out right now to just leave and not look back but he still hesitates and frantically tries calling after subaru??? he has EVERYTHING to gain from just taking the money and subarus things and just leaving, but we dont actually see him leave on screen.
and then right after this, we cut to subaru running to arlam. of course, the witch cult stops him, and in the anime, all they do is circle him, then bow (to foreshadow how the witch cult + petelgeuse think that hes one of them, im assuming), and then they disappear without saying a single word.
Tumblr media
its interesting to note though that when they leave, they run towards the direction subaru just came from. which is where otto was.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and then subaru keeps continuing on to arlam and the mansion where he finds out that the witch cult Basically wiped everyone out there. episode 15 continues this loop and then quickly ends it bc subaru is having a mental breakdown finding everyones corpses and then he promptly proceeds to die to puck (iirc?) inside the mansion. and thats all the details the anime gives about the ending of this loop. so no clear hint like the white whale loop that otto Died from this, but i think the implication is definitely there if you choose to read into it. (again, im not sure if the ln adds more details to this or not, but iirc the anime doesnt touch on this much.)
its strange that the witch cultists that find subaru just. up and leave in the direction where we Know otto likely is, bc 1. the cultists move Fast and 2. only a couple minutes passed at most, so its likely that otto is Still There, even if he did start trying to leave. even then though, i think its in character for him to still be there and try to wait for subaru. or, at the very least, otto waited there debating with himself on whether he should just leave or not. waiting there satisfies both his self preservation and the guilt he’d feel if he just abandoned subaru—he doesnt go any further to minimize the danger to himself and frufoo, but he doesnt completely leave just in case subaru comes back or if otto decides to move forward and check on subaru or something. but then we see subaru find everyone at arlam and the mansion dead, and we the audience know the surviving witch cultists left in the opposite direction (where otto is) after killing everyone at arlam, so—i think theres a connection there. as in: yeah. if otto was still there, hes probably dead.
additionally, of course later in arc 3 we see that otto gets captured by the witch cult. this time he was captured bc the witch cult caught him hurrying to get to another location for its job offer, so the witch cult captured him to interrogate him on what exactly he was doing iirc?? so in that sense yeah he was caught by the witch cult for being an outsider getting into witch cult territory while they were in the middle of doing shit (and he likely wouldve been killed if ricardo and the others hadnt rescued him) o.O
but yeah thats all the animes got regarding the first loop (aka ottos official debut into the main story as well)!!!
“There's no loop i can recall otto leaving him to the dust, even when he doesn't know who subaru is." also anon youre so right for saying this bc. yeah i cant recall any loops either bc every time otto is there near subaru. hes risking his life for subaru. hes so incredibly ride or die that its concerning. it kind of boggles my mind that some people overfixate on how he pushed subaru out of the wagon in the white whale loop and YEAH that was fucked up, but not only does he feel bad and die trying to go back for subaru later, but when you watch that scene in the anime and think about it from ottos perspective. yeah some guy you just fucking met is yelling at you about how you apparently forgot about some person youve never heard of in your life, hes yelling at you to go back and TOWARDS THE WHITE WHALE when all youre trying to do is save both of your asses, he starts trying to wrestle with you while youre both being hunted down by the whale, and then he starts rambling to himself about how maybe its his fault the white whale is chasing after both of you while you keep hearing the white whales deranged thoughts in your head the whole time bc of your dp??? its a miracle otto didnt push subaru out of that damn wagon sooner and its a miracle otto even decided to go back for subaru after all that T^TT any person in ottos shoes would be RUSHING to push subaru out of that wagon.
but like. once you think about it - yeah Every Time in the main route that ottos been near subaru and theyve gotten into danger? otto actively puts himself at risk for subarus sake. and he doesnt always die or get hurt for it, but we know that he ALWAYS goes out of his way to help subaru. hes been like this since his debut in arc 3, practically, regardless of whether or not he actually died there. bc he still Lingered around and tried to warn subaru not to leave.
so what im saying is that so much of ottos screentime is spent helping subaru in some way.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
On January 15:
Am I declaring another GSR holiday?  Maybe.  Why not?  This is my Tumblr account, so I guess I’ll do what I want to do.  Is it already over in pretty much every time zone except mine?  Yep, that too.  (Edited to add: it’s over here now, too, by the time of posting.)
January 15 is a pretty significant day in GSR history—perhaps the most significant.   (Surely the first day of the AAFS conference would be in the running in the fictional world. But in the real world I’d say January 15 beats out most.)  First, twenty years ago, on January 15, 2004, we got “Butterflied” (04x12). Then, exactly five years later, on January 15, 2009, we got “One to Go” (09x10), the episode that really should have tied it all up with a bow (and, for a time, did).
Last week I made a GIF-set for Sara’s introduction in “Cool Change” (01x02) then a day or two later I continued my CSI rewatch with “Invisible Evidence” (04x07).  Inevitably I watched the (“Pin me down”) scene repeatedly before continuing with the episode.  I know season 04 is the GSR angst season (*insert “TM” I can’t type here*).  But, spending that much time with “I don’t even have to turn around” and “Pin me down” in such quick succession, I was particularly struck by the sadness of these two people having gone from friends (or “friends,” if you get my drift, of course) who were, despite the tragic circumstances surrounding their reunion, pretty darn happy to see each other to, in about three years’ time, colleagues who could barely have a normal, non-awkward conversation.  (See: “I’m always over-talking around you.”)  Viewed in retrospect it’s an enjoyable though angsty loop in the GSR roller coaster ride, but it feels really sad when viewed from the perspective of the time.
At the end of season 03, Grissom turns down Sara’s dinner invitation (“Play with Fire,” 03x22).  In “Invisible Evidence,” “Pin me down” aside, he’s kind of a jerk to her (when she’s concerned about the murder she’s already investigating, he gives her the terse “It’s not a negotiation”).  He lets her down again in the next episode (“After the Show,” 04x08), when he lets Catherine take over Sara and Nick’s case just because the suspect thinks Catherine is “the pretty one.”  Sara doesn’t know it until much later, but she suffers another (metaphorical) blow at his hands in “Eleven Angry Jurors” (04x11), when he recommends Nick for the ultimately-cancelled promotion to Lead CSI (whatever the heck that is) over Sara.  Of course, at the same time, Sara and Grissom get some ridiculous cuteness in that episode, as seen here, when Grissom makes a corny pun over a bee (of course a 🐝) corpse and checks to make sure Sara thinks he’s adorable.  (Newsflash: she does!)
(As an aside, on which I will possibly ramble more at a later date, I tend to see Grissom up to this point as a wounded animal—occasionally accidentally lashing out at his would-be rescuer, Sara—who is simply unequipped and unprepared for the situation in which he has found himself, so I think he is trying his best but does not really realize how deeply wounded he is.)
Then we continue on the GSR roller coaster with the beloved and angsty “Butterflied.”  CSI being a show about forensics, this really could have been the kind of relationship that always simmered under the surface but never came to much of anything for the presumably star-crossed lovers.  We know the writers planned to let the whole thing disappear after Sara’s failed dinner invitation.  But WP and JF liked playing the relationship!  (JF has, repeatedly I am sure, said it was her favourite part of the show!)  They didn’t want it to go away!  So instead in the first half of season 04 we get first “Pin me down” and then the David Rambo-penned “Butterflied,” which finally confirms (as we all knew all along!) that Sara does not just have some unrequited schoolgirl crush on her boss and mentor.  This is the real deal, and Dr. Grissom has been suppressing some deep feelings for the young and beautiful Ms. Sidle—really deep feelings, as seen in the original script for Grissom’s “Butterflied” monologue.
I don’t actually remember watching “Butterflied” for the first time.  At the time most of my attention was focused on my first year of [professional] school.  I was definitely a more casual fan and not down the rabbit hole (although I am the kind of person who manages to ship couples on shows she’s never even watched).  The first episode of CSI for which I have a clear memory of having an emotional reaction was “Bloodlines” (04x23), because I felt pretty upset by Sara’s almost-DUI.
On the other hand, I have a very clear memory of first watching “One to Go” (09x10), which originally aired fifteen years ago today (yesterday now), although I did not first watch it on that day.  I was in Pakse exactly fifteen years ago, or so my photo evidence tells me; so I assume I would not have managed to watch the episode live in Laos (I didn’t even have a laptop with me), but I must have watched it soon after I got home at the end of the month, and I was wholly unspoiled for the experience.
I don’t know whether anyone at the time had hints of whether JF was showing up at all for WP’s last episode.  (Fi?  Anyone?)  But as far as I am aware they all pulled an ER/George Clooney and didn’t let anyone in on the last scene.  (GSR has echoed Doug on the docks on more than one epic relationship occasion.  And yeah that song is so perfect that it’s on my GSR fic playlist for the first post-“Immortality” reunion chapter.)  They held JF’s name from the initial credits so as not to give her appearance away.  So there we were in the last scene, with Gil Grissom walking through the “Costa Rican” rainforest, and Sara Sidle still nowhere to be seen, and I vividly remember thinking, “Please just tell us he goes to Sara, please just tell us he goes to Sara, please just tell us he goes to Sara, please just tell us he goes to Sara, please just tell us he goes to… Sara!!!”  I’m in tears just thinking about it—I kid you not.
Anyway, I am sure that scene in Costa Rica is ingrained in the hearts and minds of GSR fans everywhere, but—just in case you needed to see another version—I made a two-part GIF set for it, which you can find here and here.  I think “Wild Heart” by Bleachers is a perfect song for Grissom going into the rainforest in search of his beloved, so it makes me pretty emotional (and of course “Unbound” by Robbie Robertson is a GSR classic).
On another note, this weekend I also made a season 04/CSIV GIF-set (not linked because it’s currently sitting in my drafts, uncertain as to its fate), and I have to say I find it really pretty remarkable that we got to see our two lovely science nerds go from a cute-turned-angsty under the surface maybe-relationship to a real relationship, to our awkward bugman going on a heroic journey (“from the isolated figure we first meet him as to the one who, when he leaves us, believes, above everything, in love”) and following his beloved into the rainforest, to places we don’t talk about (okay, I could have skipped that part), to sailing off into the sunset together, to being the world’s cutest old marrieds.  It really was a roller coaster ride, but I think it’s pretty special (and I feel pretty privileged) that we got to experience it all.
I’ll stop rambling now.  Usually I proofread everything I write about twenty times to make sure I haven’t missed any typos or accidentally written anything that could offend anyone, but tonight I’m posting this immediately before going to bed.  So, if you’ve actually read this far, please be polite in pointing out my typos, and please know that I really didn’t mean any offence (to anyone, on anything).
Those are my (very rough) thoughts; obviously your perspective may differ! 💛 Happy tumbling!

Dean forcing cas to hang out with the demon that is wearing his dead child’s corpse (and being a major dick through out it all) will always bother me tbh. He’s having to work with the being walking around his son’s dead body and dean has no empathy for him??
Cas isn’t even allowed a moment to grieve and anytime he tries to say how painful it is to even LOOK at jacks dead body dean rolls his eyes and treats him like dirt and is just the worst, idk what they were thinking.
Cas wasn’t even allowed to express how horrifying it would have been to see and -know- Dean was moments away from killing jack. He doesn’t get to react to that?? Cas is barely allowed to show hurt about the cruel ways he is treated after Mary. I just really hate the later seasons 💔
I haven't rewatched S 15 in a while, so my comment has to be taken with a grain of salt. But I have the vague memory that Dean was surprised to hear that Cas was so affected (or that Cas admitted to being affected by having to work with and share space with Belphegor wearing Jack).
Dean's just all anger at Chuck and he doesn't see anything else, he doesn't expect anyone else to feel something different than he is feeling. I don't think that the Winchesters are particularly good at empathy... It's more like... "I am angry so you have to be angry!" And "I am angry at your actions, so you have to suffer either by a) being abandoned by me (usually Sam and Dean's way of dealing with it, see S5 or S9 for example) or b) stay around and suffer my anger (Dean usually with Cas. It's hard to abandon Cas, so being mean and giving him the cold shoulder is more effective.)"
I do think Cas' reaction to Dean planing to trap Jack and then later kill him was not as strong as it should have been. It barely even seems to register and Cas doesn't hold it against Dean because it's easier to blame Chuck? But Dean wasn't controlled by Chuck, Dean still made his own decision (including to not go through with killing Jack and himself in the process). I feel they lingered longer on the fact that Dean threatened Kaia with a gun than they did on Dean wanting to kill Jack.
But you are absolutely right: Cas isn't really allowed to show hurt, for anything. And he gets further punished for his choice to leave the bunker as if Dean was the one wronged by him leaving (which is something I don't really enjoy when I read fanfic which is why I say I want to read fics that take Cas' side in the divorce *lol*)
I'm not even sure what the show is trying to say in terms of guilt regarding Jack. We can all see what was there on screen and make up our own minds (I'm in the "Sam and Dean have a brain too" camp that refuses to put the blame of Mary's death on Cas just because Cas didn't tell them about his suspicions right away. Dean didn't tell Cas about what Donatello said either! But well. Winchester morals, we know they suck. And the show often veers towards confirming Winchester morals even though we as viewers can see that they suck.)
Sorry for long rant. I have many feelings about this.

Rewatching Good God, Y'All
Welcome to “But Does One Simply Drive an Impala into Mordor?: A Supernatural Rewatch Blog” with Lor and Mace!
Up today, s5e2: Good God, Y’All.
The boys are worried about Bobby, who has lost the use of his legs and won’t speak. Dean shows off an x-ray of their very pretty carved ribs just before Cas calls Sam to find out where they are because, oh right, the pretty ribs mean they’re hidden from *all* angels, even pocket angel. Cas reveals that he’s cut off from Heaven and thus can’t heal Bobby (who has something to say about that—yay! He’s talking!) because then they couldn’t save healing him for some more dramatic time later on. Cas wants Dean’s samulet because it supposedly glows hot in the presence of orcs God. Dean doesn’t want to give it up, but Cas Dom-Voices him into it. Rufus calls Bobby for help in a town overrun by demons. The boys go to check it out, running into Ellen and Jo, who are hunting together now. Seems like everyone in this town thinks everyone else is a demon. Turns out no one is. The first of the four horsemen of the apocalypse, War, has arrived, and he’s making different groups of townsfolk think the other groups are possessed. Sam and Dean each figure this out independently because they are both smarties. They cut War’s ring from his finger, vanquishing him and gaining a piece of jewelry that, huh, seems like maybe it might be important later. At the end of the episode, Dean confesses that he's not sure he can trust Sam anymore, and they decide to go their separate ways. Uh-huh.
Below is a log of our real-time reactions as we watched. Remember that there may be spoilers for any part of SPN’s 15-season run here. Note also that the nature of our conversation is adult and thus it may contain adult language and themes.
 [and we begin:]
Mace:

Lor:
LOLOLOLOL
Lor:
oh good. Jo.
Mace:

Lor:
"tell him to send legs" HAAAAHAHAHAHAHA
Mace:
HAHAHA
Lor:
I refuse to believe that they did not know what they were doing with Dean and Cas right from the start
Mace:
meh, I think the writers are mostly idiots, to be honest, and stumbled onto the good stuff. the rest is all on Jensen, Jared, and Cas as amazing actors

Mace:
YES
Lor:
agreed. I always love it when someone treats him like they love him, especially WHILE they are tearing him a new one, but Ellen as a character? meh
Mace:
exactly
Mace:
just because she’s a pregnant woman, Dean, doesn’t mean she can’t handle herself. Jesus.
Lor:
RIGHT?
Lor:
although I do suspect that THAT pregnant woman might not be able to
Mace:
well sure but I’m trying to make a point here, Lor
Lor:
I DO apologize. *drags over a box for you*
Lor:
that canned soup probably has enough salt in it to be useful
Mace:
*checks to see if box has cookies in it before realizing it’s full of soap*
Mace:
HAAAAAHAHAHAHA
Lor:
LOLOLOLOLOLOL
Lor:
*hands you another, smaller, box, this one WITH cookies*
Mace:
YAS
Mace:

Mace:
Sammy, no. Don’t lick that.
Lor:
look, in GENERAL, Sammy, don't like knives
Lor:
*lick. dammit
Lor:
like them all you want
Mace:
SNORK
Mace:
WHY is it that every pregnant character on the screen is constantly holding her belly. NO ONE ACTUALLY DOES THAT
Lor:
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
Lor:
ooooof, Dean
Lor:
I feel like if I had ever been pregnant, I would have used the shelf as a good place to rest the snacks
Mace:
YEP
Mace:
been there
Lor:
I mean, the boobies work, surely the baby bump would too
Mace:

B-15's Backstory: Incoherent Thoughts
Because I'm still not over this, and not likely to be over this any time soon. I've been sending my friend near constant stream-of-consciousness texts about this all day. Now you get to deal with it. Headcanons, theories, reactions, etc. Spoilers for Loki episode 2x05 and probably Loki: Agent of Asgard.
I'm literally just typing up my texts about B-15/Verity, so they really are incoherent/stream-of-consciousness. I'm not kidding when I say I've been thinking about her all day. I'm aware this is almost certainly just an easter egg, but my brain does not work that way when I get a hint of something I love.
She found him before Mobius did. She's been with him all along!!!
Besides Sylvie he loses her last in episode five. ;.; She finds him first in 1x01, and she's the last agent he loses in 2x05.
If Tom Hiddleston does not say "Verity" at some point in episode six I won't know what to do with myself. Then again if he does, I'm going to have to pause the episode to cry for twenty minutes.
Tumblr media
I wrote this TWO WEEKS AGO. A part of me knew.
Tumblr media
I complained about Loki not being on my birthday month for my calendar but IT'S VERITY I'M OKAY WITH IT. [The thing draped over her is a palm from Palm Sunday. It's the only place in my apartment it's able to hang.]
Oh my god if B-15 is not outright confirmed to be able to detect lies in the next episode I'm gonna ignore everything the writers try to tell me and I'm going to do a whole rewatch explicitly to catalog all of her interactions and assess if I can conclude that she has this power in the MCU. She already only needed Sylvie to tell her to her face that Sylvie didn't create C-20's memories and she believed her.
Personally I want that scene from the mid-season trailer where Loki's like "I'm a fast learner" and everyone else just takes him at his word, but then I want B-15 to be like '...This boi's acting sus.' And everyone else gets to work, and she pulls him aside and is like, "What are you up to?" And he's like, "Nothing." And she's like, "I know you're lying." Basically if someone (Loki) says something in the episode that I know as a viewer is a lie and they do a fairly decent job of acting convincing (none of this over-the-top terrible lying bullshit to really drive home to the audience that they're lying), and B-15 says the words "I know you're lying," I'm sold. I won't rewatch everything to figure it out. I'll be convinced she can detect lies.
No but Sylvie and B-15 becoming ride or die bffs, no romance, like Loki and Verity are in the comics would give me LIFE.
I've come up with another way they can imply B-15 can detect lies next episode. If at some point Loki just starts telling his friends about their lives on the timeline instead of doing the memory magic, and he turns to OB and goes, "You... are a brilliant writer." And B-15 is in the frame, and she doesn't say anything, either in that moment or as an aside to Loki, but she just twitches a little at the lie. I'll lose my fucking mind. If that and the one season one interaction with Sylvie is all we get as implicative confirmation, I'll fucking take it. My girl can detect lies. Sold. Done.
[Not really a headcanon or anything, but just to show you I'm a fool irl too] Also I came in, [my dad] said, "Hi, what's up?" And I said, "B-15 is Verity Willis." And then I grinned like a lunatic even though he has no clue who Verity is and I know he has no clue who Verity is.
We currently do not have any evidence that B-15 is not ace, so Verity is still 100% ace in the MCU, too.

My thoughts on episode 5
SPOILERS for season 3, episode 5 of the Animaniacs reboot.
Yes, we're still doing this. This episode contains Teeniacs, the one I've been obsessing over for months, theorizing about, posting screenshots, answering asks. Did it live up to expectations?
...what do you think? While it turned out to mostly be a funky screenshot collection, and possibly trailer bait, I'm not going to let my extremely overinflated expectations and current ravaged emotional state trick me into saying this segment was bad. It was pretty good for what it was.
The one thing I'm legitimately disappointed about is that we didn't actually get Teen Dot. I wanted to see an aged-up Warner, even if for just a few seconds in a joke segment. Turns out they were the same age and the perspective of the animation was playing tricks on us. Well, maybe alternate Dot was a little taller. Not anything drastic, though.
Tumblr media
We did still get to see an alternately aged Dot.
Tumblr media
We've already seen baby Dot multiple times in the past, though, so it's not as exciting.
I liked the way Yakko said "bro" and acted as Wakko's wingman.
Tumblr media
I enjoyed seeing this, especially how excited he sounded to say it:
Tumblr media
Does this mean Yakko is 15 now? Maybe we really do have an aged-up Warner in this segment.
I thought the brief vampire transitions were cool to see.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Teeniacs.
Tumblr media
The most disappointing part of this segment for me was how it was a minute and a half long, and then we got no Warners for the rest of the episode.
I don't have much to say about Starbox and Cindy. What could I say? Cindy is proven to be a malicious little monster who hurts Starbox on purpose. I can respect it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The main thing to talk about in this episode is obviously Groundmouse Day. It is officially confirmed that Pinky is not, in fact, the genius. Right, guys?
Tumblr media
I liked how this episode focused on the obvious fact that Brain's schemes are mostly thwarted by stupid little twists of fate, and if he could just have a few redos, pretty much every single one of them would work. It's always super satisfying to me when a cartoon character who has been failing to do something for an entire show finally breaks through and does it, such as Brain successfully taking over the world.
Tumblr media
I enjoyed Brain getting one over on the surfer dude and being unapologetically pleased when the guy is emotionally affected by it. He deserved that one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Edit: Oh, and I liked the furry joke.
So yeah, not going to lie, there wasn't much here for me in this episode. It felt like filler, especially because the main plot of the episode isn't even resolved in this episode. Almost wish they would just have done a full Pinky and the Brain episode focusing entirely on Groundmouse Day.
Also, shout out to this person for being entirely correct.
I really don't know how to rank this one. None of it was bad. None of it blew my socks off. There were some fun sights in Teeniacs, but that was about it for me. I can't really judge Groundmouse Day yet because the rest is in the next episode. It could really go above any of the episodes except episode 3 and below any of them as well. I'm just going to go off of which ones I would rather rewatch, which means this episode will be ranked last. If I was a huge Pinky and the Brain fan, it would be different for sure.
My current ranking of season 3 episodes:
Episode 3
Episode 4
Episode 2
Episode 1
Episode 5
I encourage you to add to the discussion of this episode if you want, but don't say anything about any of the episodes that come after. Thanks for sticking with me.

Timestamps for Jaskier living his best bisexual life in Season 3
Put together for @bishkebab but really for anyone who wants to enjoy a bard-centric watch or rewatch.
I've tossed in brief descriptions of what happens in each scene while trying to avoid big spoilers (though reading what happens in a later episode could spoil you for previous ones). The * marks a scene important to his romance arc with Prince Radovid.
This is actually the time given on the right-hand side of the screen/completion bar showing the remaining minutes in the episode, because that was the easiest for me to get accurately on Netflix, so smaller numbers are closer to the end of each episode.
Episode 1: Shaerrawedd
32:52 - 28:22* Meeting one love interest while mid-argument with the other one. Rolls right into a short scene with Geralt, Yen, and Ciri.
19:42- 15:16 Fight scene, Jaskier gets a few reaction shots and is even helpful; the best parts for bard-lovers happen from 16:13 on.
10:09 - 8:38* Follow-up with Radovid + another character from the earlier meeting.
Episode 2: Unbound
(Scene starts right after title card) 54:33 - 53:20 Some muppety goodness with Geralt
50:10 - 44:35 There's some plot-relevant exposition here but also Jaskier making friends with a cat (and flirting with Liz Carr's character) and otherwise offering charming reaction shots - and then sadder/scared-er emotions from 45:30 on.
35:08 -33:40* Going to Radovid for a favor, he winds up agreeing to sing for him + a roomful of fans.
24:09 - 20:38* Sings "Extraordinary Things" and has an extremely subtext-laden conversation with Radovid.
14:56 - 13:21 (*) Not Jaskier, but some of Radovid's perspective on events, and this scene has him doing his best to fulfill the favor Jaskier asked.
Episode 3: Reunion
(From beginning of episode runtime) 1:01:32 - 58:08* The Most Important Scene. Bisexuality: confirmed. Tits: out. His girlfriend Vespula: amazing.
58:07 - 53:02 This runs right from the previous scene but is rather different in tone and amount of visible cleavage. Geralt calls on Jaskier to comfort a distressed child (brief reference to the deaths of preteen girls) while they bring her to a druid for help.
38:00 - 33:25 Getting on the same page with Geralt about the conversation with Radovid's people back in Episode 1, winds up giving Geralt an idea how to help the child. Things get more distressing and perilous as this scene continues but Jaskier is helpful again!
23:15 - 20:08 No onscreen Jaskier but Geralt wraps up the druid plotline, makes plans to keep the child safe with her, and announces his destination (and Jaskier's) for the next episode: Aretuza.
Episode 4: The Invitation
44:33-40:56 Meeting Geralt (and Ciri) at the coast. They want to take a ferry to Aretuza but the ferryman's scared of a sea monster. Luckily the passenger list includes a witcher and a half, plus Jaskier. Unfortunately it also includes Jaskier's mortal enemy.
37:29 -35:50 Geralt and Ciri are on monster watch while Jaskier's in a snark battle for his life. You can watch a bit past 35:50 if you want to see Geralt and Ciri continuing their father-daughter chat.
31:35 - 27:40 The monster finally attacks, ending Jaskier's misery. He's kind of helpful in the background of the fight scene, keeping other non-combatants safe.
21:52 -18:41 Reuniting with Yennefer. She gives Jaskier the job of babysitting Ciri and the two of them do some lip-reading with poetic license at Yen and Geralt's expense.
(runs from previous scene, new location) 18:40 - 13:13* Sweet babysitting shenanigans, singing "A Little Sacrifice," and suddenly - enter Radovid. Without spoilers, I'll say that chemistry read between Joey Batey and Hugh Skinner sure proved itself. Wow.
Episode 6: Everybody Has a Plan 'Til They Get Punched In the Face
45:50 - 44:13* The morning after.
Biphobia is alive and well and as proof, that's all we get of him in this episode, though his fellow members of the Rience Hate Club will enjoy the bits around 31:00 - 30:32.
Episode 7: Out of the Fire, Into the Frying Pan
(right after title card) 52:00 - 48:15* Looking for Ciri, Geralt, and Yen, Jaskier finds Radovid instead. As a bonus for the Jaskier-cut watchers, Radovid provides him with a summary of major plot developments from Episode 6. (Biphobia is alive and well and as proof the camera omits the hand-holding around 49:28. We all know it's happening! But still!)
Yennefer gets him further up to date (and hugs him!)
The bulk of this episode is Ciri-centric. At some point I can't find the timestamp for, she sings "A Little Sacrifice" for a cute Jaskier-and-his-Pocket-Princess-bonding-moment. In terms of Joey Batey's face being onscreen, he gets to flex his muscles at acting sad and scared from around 11:41 - 11:24 in a hallucinatory scene that reaffirms his and Ciri's love for each other in the cruelest possible way.
9:54 - end of episode. Jaskier wins his way past some distrusting dryads to see Geralt, in part by singing (in Elvish!) "Enchanted Flowers." He catches Geralt up on events that have happened during the Ciri-centric midpart of this episode; unfortunately it's all bad news. Hopefully their hand-holding is comforting, though.
The credits music for this episode is Freya Allen (Ciri's actress) singing a badass dark reprise of "A Little Sacrifice."
Episode 8: The Cost of Chaos
1:03:14 - 1:00:39 (until title card) Geralt's an understandably impatient patient, but at least he has Jaskier to hold his hand again and otherwise enable him.
48:44 - 46:26 Jaskier composes some songs while Geralt continues recovering. And pledges to compose more (plus an epic poem) if Geralt gets himself killed going out to find Ciri prematurely. (The scene continues between Geralt and another character until around 44:33)
(Around 38:30 Yennefer appears to supercharge Geralt's healing, which is a helpful plot event to know if watching the Jaskier Cut)
35:30 - 33:33* No Jaskier, but Radovid's side of the romance nears its conclusion (for this season). You can stop at 33:33 if you want a happy ending, or watch past that til the scene change if you're okay with blood and want to know the rest of what's going on. 28:16 - 26:52 wraps up Radovid's plotline (for this season! I'm holding out hope!)
24:55 - 21:02 Jaskier's composing the credits song for this episode when Dara (Ciri's elf friend from Season 1, who also shows up in Season 2) says hello. Then on to making a Witcher potion. Jaskier cheerleads Geralt through his training sequence, still composing.
13:04 - 7:21 Jaskier fails to dissuade Geralt from a final fight scene of the season (sorry, Jask, Geralt's in the right on this one, they had it coming), but again proves very helpful in a non-combatant way!
Credits music is Joey Batey singing "Ride Witcher Ride"
Let me know if you'd like a rundown for Season 2 as well (it's a less rich tapestry since there's less Jaskier and the bisexuality isn't canon yet, although there are moments it's hard to read heterosexually, and wow is it fun to realize nobody expects me to do that again!)
The first 7 minutes or so of the tie-in miniseries Blood Origin also have some great moments, including Jackier being audibly not not into it when a supernatural creature mimics his face (can't blame him, it's a sexy face, amd Joey Batey is excellent at being ominous) and also canon confirmation that he has good self-esteem, which I like in my bisexuals! (He's also there for like the final 2 minutes of Blood Origin's 4th and final episode if you're a completionist, and Joey Batey sings "Song of the Seven" over the end credits, which is the song Radovid references when he first meets Jaskier.)
