"Who has the softest chest?" Mineta thinks a little but looks left and right to be sure he's alone before looking at the anon. "It's hard to say honestly. All the girls had soft pretty boobies." he giggled but thinks.

"How dare you be a pervert around Ink!" Atsushi said growling.

"I say we beat the living shit out of him! No one touches our Ink!" Denji said.

"Right! That's low for you Mineta!" Midoriya said.

"uhhhhhh..I......." Before long, he begins running away screaming.

"GET BACK HERE!!"

I do remember those magic knight people! Every once in a while I go back on your blog to try to track down those drawings because I like them and the concept in the description so much. I would love to hear more about them. Do you have a story planned out?

yeah, vaguely. so for the cosmology; there's this dystopian city I desperately need to draw a map of built above the fossilised remains of an ancient hell. the city mines the hell for 'hell-flesh', a semi-sentient magical substance that's kind of the physical container of the souls of the damned. I suppose this is like fantasy rare earths for fantasy compute or w/e. this has been going on for a while and the city is, kiruna-style, gradually falling down the pit. also as more of the hell is laid bare, semi-autonomous demonic creatures are let loose, maybe as a kind of immune response against human incursion.

(imagining this sort of thing + branching passages. but in the middle of an italian intra-feuding city-state w a population ca modern day singapore)

a kind of grid of bridges and fortresses has been built above the pit to protect the fancier, upper parts of the city from the decaying/descending bits below. the lower city is mostly miners etc & due to the fucked up mutagenic influence of living near a hell & touching hell stuff all day the people in the upper city treat them with suspicion. there's a 'join the US navy-army-whatever to get health insurance & education & basic human dignity' or like french foreign legion situation where by joining the elite magic army manning the little fortresses, ppl from the lower city can gain some access to the upper. in the reverse I guess for the upper city ppl it functions a bit like 'the wall' in asoiaf where criminals, noble bastards etc go to maybe redeem themselves or die horribly.

the fire magic used by the guards to fight demons etc is derived from the burning corpse of a god that is said to have been there since before the founding of the city (presumably the entity responsible for the hell situation in the first place). by swearing fealty to this dead(-ish) god one gets the ability to summon his divine flame but you forfeit your chance at an afterlife, or maybe you go to hell (no-one is quite sure). everyone kind of assumes once the body is fully burned the god will return/reincarnate (and either save or destroy the city, depending on who you ask).

the politics part; at its founding the city was part of some empire that has since collapsed (pretty recently). the city is dependent on trade to stay viable/fed and to appease the new warring states/mini-empires that have sprung up around it. the current ruler is a reclusive young queen & she has her favourite lord/advisor, an ageing academic who is sort of trying to liberalise the place or make it superficially less fashy. other lords dislike this & are working to either find her a proper king or hasten the return of some deity or other that will return the place to its former glory.

I guess the story? has this noble child bastard protagonist from a shady family* of word-mages who is sent to the 'centre' fortress & works her way up to become the apprentice of some hero-knight demon slayer guy with a possibly shady past (I think rn the name I have for the guy is Chaimé & idk if this is a good name? like the spanish jaime but w more e, & the tiny bastard is Myia I think). I imagine her being the sasuke to a happier, more popular girl who saves her from a demon (embarrassing) then is outed as a half-demon herself (she's the redhead in the drawings) & Myia warms up to her as she (demon girl) becomes increasingly isolated from the outside city (being supposedly dangerous or too powerful? I don't think Myia has much natural magic or w/e in her aside from being a nerd & very persistent).

sorry there's a lot here that would be SPOILERS if I ever actually made this into something coherent enough to be an actual comic ha ha. the knight/mentor guy gets dragged into a kind of fantasy 'business plot' & I guess part of that would be like, seeing to what extent he goes along with it & if he's actually a good person ha ha. + there's a bunch of other characters w stuff going on that I haven't figured out the looks of yet but. they're important in my head. the big bear-ish bf guy who gets sent on an expedition down the pit etc

* I have a distinct image of these people living hidden away in some gormenghast-style estate. they've habsburged themselves into being mostly deaf but the only ones around who can fully read/write the divine language that lets them do word-based magic & the other houses kind of have to put up w their weirdness. also scheming nobles in dune using sign language is 1 of my favourite things in the new film adaption & I like the idea of outsiders being forced to learn to sign (or else being cut-off from higher level magic) as some sort of power move? I don't think they involve themselves that much in politics since that's below them but are def part of the 'bring the gods back' thing, for better or worse. anyway after 'avas demon' (GUILTY PLEASURE I know it has such pretty colours but comes from such an unhinged part of the internet, will never stop apologising for this) started posting again I realised it had a character w the same look & vibe so will try and re-design protag girl to look more like this cute person I saw in a fashion post on IG

... let's see how this goes. came up w all this BS after some viz lady at comicon asked me if I wanted to make them a manga but it's grown from being too little to being too unwieldy to pitch. will see after I finish up my current projects. how much blood, swearing & genocide can a story have before it stops being YA. I think chainsaw man is sort of YA but dorohedoro isn't

More than 60 anime will be competing for your attention this spring, and a whole host of them are highly anticipated sequels, with a number of new series in the list as well. Let me just list some of the sequels from returning anime (or continuing from the winter: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (season 3), Mushoku Tensei (season 2 part 2), Demon Slayer (Hashira Training arc), Konosuba (season 3), Urusei Yatsura (season 2) The Duke of Death and His Maid, My Hero Academia (season 7), Tsukimichi (season 2 continued), and two that our staff are particularly looking forward to—season three of both Sound! Euphonium and Laid-back Camp.

That’s not to say that there aren’t a plethora of new series as well, many of them based on manga or light novels we’ve reviewed, some very highly like Unnamed Memory, A Condition Called Love Gods’ Games We Play, Mission Yozakura Family, and possibly the most highly anticipated new series of the spring, Kaiju No. 8. The assumption (perhaps better termed “hope”) is that these adaptations will do justice to their source material. But for others, we’re going in blind. Wild cards like WIND BREAKER, Re:Monster, Mysterious Disappearances, A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics, Jelly Fish Can’t Swim in the Night, and Train to the End of the World—some of which are originals—are sure to surprise us, hopefully in a good way!

Other shows we’re looking forward to are long-dead productions made alive again as part of the recent trend to resurrect classics, including Black Butler -Public School Arc- and Spice and Wolf: merchant meets the wise wolf, which has already gotten chatter on our social media timelines. There are also other assorted series premiering, like Grandpa and Grandma Turn Young Again, yuri series Whisper Me a Love Song, The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio, and so much more!

Note

How would the aftermath of a "fateswap" of the final battle play out? As in every hero who died in the Infinity Fortress raid/Muzan fight in canon lives while those who lived in the canon dies instead. So Shinobu, Genya, Mitsuri, Iguro, Himejima, and Muichiro survive while Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke, Kanae, Giyuu, and Sanemi die. I guess Nezuko would still be alive because she didn't participate.

Anon... how dare.

There were so many moments when I was first contemplating this when I realized new bereavements and verbalized a sharp "NO!!" at each one; and for the sake of seeing how it plays out, I had to write it. I tried to keep it short by only writing the key developments but now it's a very, very, very choppy series of odd interactions, and I must bring it to you in multiple parts. That's your first warning. As your second warning, we have angst ahead, so much angst. And while I though this would turn into an Angst & Fluff piece, no, we have bypassed fluff and gone straight to sap. This is the Ask response equivalent of violently hacking a tree to pieces so that I can offer you maple syrup. Here, I hope you like it. Careful, there are probably splinters in it.

Part 1: The Fates are Swapped

Shinobu's lung was punctured, but she could still fight, and she did, impressing Douma with how she put enough strength in her legs to force him all the way to the ceiling. The strongest dose of poison her sword could pack punctured the vital spot in his neck, and despite how his features were melting, the ends of his mouth twisted with a smile. "How amazing. You worked so hard,” he cooed. Gravity wanted to take both her and her sword back, but he stopped her close with clammy hands and clawed fingers. "You're worthy for me to eat."

When at last she thought she saw her end and the beginning of her victory, the ceiling cracked wider and a fur-covered foot pounded through. "No way in hell I'm going to let you touch Shinobu!"

The next thing she knew, her face was slashed by the tips of two rough swords, tearing from her brows, over her nose, and down to her cheeks with crossing injuries. It stung like hell, and she was in free fall. At the same moment as a splashing sound, she was submerged in icy waters; it was filling the hole in her lung, quick...

"Sure does suck to die alone."

After having taunted Muzan's underling, Yushiro scooped up the whiny demon slayer and brought him to a flat surface. Try as he might to stop them with anti-Blood Technique medicine, those burns kept cracking and spreading even after that demon was dead; he really must have hated this guy to have that much ill will focused against him.

Zenitsu's eyes flitted open, then locked on Yushiro. "The demon woman you love... she's in trouble."

Yushiro’s whole body flinched tight, from his pupils down his spine. "I know."

"You have to... go to her."

"And leave you after what I just said to that guy? I'd be a liar."

"I'm not… alone," he struggled out. Like another strike of lightning in a storm, the burn in his cheek crackled up to his eye, filling it with blood. "Jiichan... said he's proud of me. ...Go."

Yushiro had not meant to defy Tamayo's wishes, but if there was one time in his life he was going to, this was it. Tamayo had not expected such a betrayal either when she was ripped apart from Muzan. At last separated from that man swallowing her up, her cells instantly set to work repairing themselves, and she already had most of her limbs back before she looked around and had a sense of what happened. Her returning hand was empty; the medicine must have still been inside of Muzan. Then, up there by Muzan's face, there was Yushiro with his hands digging into the screaming flesh.

"Yushiro! What are you doing there! You said you would treat the injured slayers!"

"That was a joke. I'm not leaving you alone to him, Tamayo-sama. He doesn't deserve any of your cells."

"Who are you!” Muzan yammered blindly. “I don’t recognize you! You're made from Tamayo's cells!"

"Leave him to me, Yushiro, I came here expecting to fight him myself."

Yushiro ignored Muzan's screams and dropped a vial of medicine out of his pocket to the floor in front of Tamayo. "I know. Treat yourself with this first."

She took it off the floor and stabbed her own thigh with it, expecting it to give her the strength to stand again and fight, but instead she felt prickly and weak all over. "Yushiro!" she took an angry tone.

"That was a better joke, wasn't it?"

"Where--did you--where did you get this?"

"I ran into Shinobu's Tsuguko on the way here, and I knew she had an extra. It was a fair exchange, I gave her papers to go find her master. You should take cover while the medicine takes effect, Tamayo-sama. Leave Muzan to me," he said, ignoring how his hands were already missing down to the elbows, "I'll make him feel and regret everything he’s put you through."

"Shihan!"

That was Kanao’s voice. Shinobu gasped as she was pulled from the water, and then the back of her skull thumped with against a wooden platform, breaking the butterfly hairpiece with a snap. She tried to cough but was soon to lose consciousness again. Kanao’s silhouette was blurry above her.

"I have to go help Inosuke, he's not going to last much longer alone. Please pull through!"

“AAH!!”

"Stay here. We'll see later... what demon you turn to..."

With his own Nichirin blade seared through the socket of his shoulder; now Muichiro’s one full arm was going to be stuck at partial mobility. He struggled and struggled to reach the handle, but he couldn't. That left him pulling the blade, leaving that one remaining hand cut wide open and bloody all through the palm. He screamed as he pulled himself free, then hit the floor with a smack.

He got over to Genya, who needed assistance pushing himself back together, whereas Sanemi was already long gone in ongoing battle. Muichiro had witnessed everything, though, and amidst their discussion of what to do to get themselves back into the fight, Muichiro couldn't help but smile. "You two reached an understanding, didn't you?"

"I guess, yeah. More or less."

"I get it. Brothers don’t always say what they mean until the last moment. Can you stand? We need to hurry and go help him."

In the changing courses of the Infinity Fortress, and already disoriented with how her head spun, Tamayo would have been crushed by a wall zooming by had a girl with pink hair not grabbed her wrist and pulled her out of the way. "That was close! Are you alright? WAH!!" her rescuer said and then fell backwards out of a window.

Tamayo tried to stand, but whether it was the rumbling or the medicine, she could not. She’d have tipped over sideways into an abyss, but she was caught in the enormous arms of the Rock Pillar.

"Himejima-san...” she said as she held her head and settled to her knees, “You should be fighting... leave me, you should be fighting!"

"And you shouldn't be here like this, it's dangerous. You've done enough."

"No, I have to--" she started to say, but he ran through the next open door.

"A mark... but being over the age of 25... I predict you'll die tonight..."

"You think I didn't come prepared for that?" Himejima replied to the demon as he gave his spiked ball a spin. With the mark, it spun with more ease than he had ever felt capable of before. It would be an honor to die on the same night as Oyakata-sama, if only he could bring Muzan's head as an offering.

Amidst the flashing and shattering and huge icy splashes all around her, Shinobu could barely stay conscious, but the sound that startled her eyes back awake was a THUD next to her. She turned her head, and there was Inosuke, covered in ice patches and the lashes of his eyelids all closed against each other like a delicate princess in slumber.

Inosuke was never one to look so peaceful.

"CAAAAW!! AGATSUMA ZENITSU!! HASHIBIRA INOSUKE!!! DEAD!!!!!"

Tanjiro’s eyes filled with tears before he was conscious that he even heard a crow caw. When the realization caught up to his mind not even a second later, he felt all the Breath knocked clear out of his stomach.

"aa.. aaaa--!!"

"Keep going!" Giyuu caught him by the arm and pulled him to keep running. "It's up to you to keep their sacrifices from being in vain."

The hot tears and snot flowed down the back of Tanjiro’s throat; even after all the grueling losses he had suffered, Tanjiro couldn't believe he would never see those two again. It didn't feel real. He wanted so bad to believe that they would come running to join him in this final battle.

"A-aaa-Anikiii!! Ahhh!!!"

Genya could hardly manage words, only screams came to his lips; there was so much he wanted to say. He couldn’t even cradle Sanemi's head without Himejima's help, for he was so shook that his trembling hands were going to make Sanemi fall apart. Sanemi was nearly in pieces from that blow he took from Kokushibo.

The demon was at last dead thanks to Muichiro's white blade having burned bright Red to take the head off once and for all, but now Muichiro was shaky and white from blood loss, but someone he was still standing. It was hard to see any of Sanemi's face, for all the gushing gore he was covered in. His eyes were unfocused on the ceiling, but his hands found Genya's, and he gave him the clear vials of oil in his pockets. "Take these to Muzan," he said, clasping his hands around his brother's with the last of his strength, "Fuck him up."

"Nii... Niichaaaan!!"

Genya was ready to let the world burn, had Himejima not ordered him to get a grip. His master was right, Genya wasn't going to be able to do anything to honor Sanemi if he didn't calm down. Maybe he could never be calm enough to use Breath, but he could use Repetitive Action to collect his focus.

It was right after that when Himejima warned him not to try eating Muzan, for Tamayo had used a medicine on him which might affect Genya too. Neither Genya nor Muichiro had ever heard of the Corp working with a demon besides Nezuko, but after all they had already been through, they were quick to accept the shock. When they found their way to the battle, Mitsuri was already down.

Iguro had told her she'd done enough, but what she knew he meant was, 'stay alive.' How could she live with herself if this was all she had done to help? Especially after all those swordsmen laid down their lives placing their hope in her!

'Saving the weak is the responsibility of those born strong…,' the voice of her former master rang with a deep timbre through her mind. 'Kanroji, you may even have the strength to one day surpass me as a swordsman!'

"Rengoku…san..."

‘…above all, you have a heart filled with great love!’

"Kanroji-sama, please let me treat your--"

"I have to go... I have to go protect every precious person left!"

She meant that, and it shot power back through her limbs. Her collar bone burned bright with a mark, and her speed and healing increased. It might take away from her life span, but for now, all that mattered was this last hour before daylight!

She joined the fight with Iguro and Tanjiro, whipping her blade and following Tanjiro's lead in flailing the swords of their fallen comrades. Being hit with a zapping attack that made her body all clench up with electricity until Muichiro swooped in to make it stop. She had dropped her sword somewhere, but she still had her blessedly strong muscles. She caught Muzan's arm and screamed at him as she ripped it off, but that left her defenseless as a claw ripped across her belly.

'Not my womb!' she cried out in her mind, but on her second thought as she went down, she chided herself for still clinging to old dreams.

"Iguro-san... Ah! It hurts! It hurts!!"

"I'm here. I'll hold you until the pain is gone."

"But you're... you're hurt too... I don't want you to die!"

What did his pain matter? The ache in his chest as he heard her suffer was worse than any of his open wounds. "I don’t think either of us has long. If you’ll allow me to run my mouth, do you remember the day we first met?”

She swallowed hard before answering. “I was lost in Oyakata-sama’s mansion, and you helped me…”

“No. It was the other way around. I was the one saved by the sight of you, a normal girl whose laugh rang pure like a bell at the lightest thing, who didn’t let anyone feel how hard she must had trained to become a Pillar."

"Iguro... san...!"

He let his exposed lips blather on, unrestrained. "Talking with you made me feel like a normal man, it made me happy. I’m sure your brightness and kindness has saved the hearts of many, but Kanroji, I promise you, if you'll have me... in our next lives, I will make you the happiest bride."

As she sobbed and accepted, he wondered if he deserved to say such a thing while still pouring with unclean blood all over her. But he'd be cleansed of that blood soon enough, and he felt cleaner for having told her how he felt.

"Please, treat the children. It's too late for me."

"Himejima-sama," cried the Kakushi and swordsmen next to him, but the Insect Pillar, with open wounds across her face and her hair a loose mess, coughed and gurgled.

"No!" she spat specks of blood, "I've--guh--I've stopped the bleeding, you're--guh--you're going to pull through!"

"I had the mark. It'll kill me shortly."

"Not if-g'huh--ghh-guh—not if I can help it!"

"Shinobu-san, stand aside. You're in no condition to focus on anyone but yourself."

She looked over, stunned at the sight of Tamayo in the sunlight. As she could not, Himejima was the one to speak. "Where's Yushiro?"

Tamayo's face twisted to a complicated grimace. "He made a bad joke. The foolish child..."

"Tomioka-san, please let us treat your wounds--"

"Where's Tanjiro?"

"Tomioka-san--"

They couldn't keep him from noticing the boy kneeling still, head drooped and uniform bloody all over. Giyuu’s tears welled up faster than the blood guzzling to his mouth. "Tanjiro..."

With the help of the Kakushi, Giyuu teetered and swayed over, then collapsed to his knees in front of him. There were two Kakushi at Tanjiro's sides, and behind him, Genya held up Muichiro. Giyuu’s vision was narrowing, he had to feel his way around for Tanjiro’s hand, still clenching the sword which had at last defeated Muzan. “I couldn’t protect you either… I’m sorry… at least… this time we’ll go together…”

Giyuu’s forehead fell against Tanjiro’s.

Morning came to a quiet lull. Everyone was sniffling, but not Genya. He was silent and dumbfounded, tears streamed down his face as he kept watching as though waiting for Tanjiro to get up and turn around and smile. He wasn’t sure how long he stared, with Muichiro getting heavier and heavier to hold upright, but all of a sudden, Muichiro flinched.

“Tanjiro!?”

Shinobu’s hands hit the ground so hard that it made her wrists hurt, and she coughed so forcefully that she thought she might had already taken her last Breath several minutes ago. What good was she doing still alive, if she was stuck against the ground with all her poison blood going everywhere without doing a lick of good? That should had been her shoulder stuffed into Tanjiro’s mouth, not Nezuko’s! After all that effort to save her, Nezuko was going to die over there like that. Muichiro and Himejima were at their limits, and for all Shinobu could tell, Mitsuri and Iguro and Giyuu were all dead.

She noticed Kanao’s boots scraping across the ground out of the corner of her eye. She looked up to find her Tsuguko, her sister, letting go of her stomach injury and reaching for her sword.

“He’s barely turned… there’s still time…”

“K—uhh!—Ngh!!”

“…if the strike hits perfectly!!”

ranking anime i’ve watched in 2023:

as expected, here’s this year’s top 10 for how much i personally enjoyed the anime i’ve watched this year. ive watched more than this, but god i watched so many bad ones…. even number 10 sucks but everything else was worse. sad!

10. the legendary hero is dead! (2023)

9. my daughter left the nest and returned as an s-rank adventurer (2023)

i have to admit this show charmed me. its not the best thing ive ever seen but its nice. comfy. yknow? i haven't finished it but it's enjoyable. can't rank it higher until i finish it

8. sabikui bisco (2022)

if it werent for the positively nonsensical jump in the middle of the show and the way theres just like. a lot of gaps? it’d rank higher. it’s a very cool premise for a show and i like the bisco/milo dynamic, and [SISTER] is fun as hell. it didnt wow me though overall, and while i enjoyed it i was hoping for more.

7. trigun stampede (2023)

im sorry trigun stans i simply didnt love it. i see the appeal i really do but it just didnt hook me. i really liked the animation and the storyline. im intrigued by whatever the fuck is going on with those plants and yall have said theres a tallgirl in the next season? so i’ll keep watching. i just didnt love it

6. that time i got reincarnated as a slime (2019-2021)

in contrast to #7, i can see why this show is weak HOWEVER i just enjoyed it. i like it. huge fan of how much gender the protag has. i love how they get new powers. i enjoy that it can be interpreted as an extremely bisexual show. it was well paced and the slime diaries OVA was a great addition. a lot of the characters really stuck with me too and its like. idk. one of my favourite isekais i guess

5. buddy daddies (2023)

this should rank higher. its so fun. its SO fun. its silly and it doesnt take itself seriously. i laughed in every episode. the dynamic between the guys is great. the dynamics between them and the kid is great. just a really solid show if you can stand the queerbaiting. i dont even care

4. bocchi the rock! (2022)

the bocchi side of tumblr is right this show rules. i like how real bocchi’s social anxiety feels (literally how it felt when i had it). the characters are entertaining, the show’s well done, they even have solid music (which band-based shows dont always do right!). its really funny and its really earnest and its a joy to watch

3. demon slayer: swordsmith village arc (2023)

i included the entertainment district arc in last year’s list so this arc makes the cut. im always late getting around to watch the new stuff and i dont want to read the manga but god DAMN does this show hit different. incredible fight scenes. i loved everything they did for the hashira backstories. i love whatever the fuck is up with genya. it even gave me some akaza to sustain me for the next year or whatever. ik this show gets overhyped but its normal hyped. to me.

2. frieren: beyond journey's end (2023)

oughhh frieren… ive only known this show for a few months but it means to much to me… i dont even wanna talk about it because its so good i just wanna watch it again. go watch frieren if you havent already its anime of the decade. to me

1. gundam: the witch from mercury (2022-2023)

ive never seen a gundam before but i will be watched them after this! what can be said about it that hasnt already been said on this site. the romance storyline is impeccable, the fights are awesome, the moral questions it posed were excellently covered. by the end of the first episode i was speechless. by the end of the last episode i'd cried like 4 times over the course of the show. this thing made me cry to happy birthday. what the fuck

Top 20 Animes of 2022

Sorry I skipped last year. Trust me I was watching I just didn’t feel motivated to make another list. However this time I am, but little longer. That’s right it’s 20 now. Plus I added my reasons too. Enjoy.

1. Dance Dance Danseur

Captivating characters, beautiful animation and intriguing story. I really fell in love with this one I went far as to read the manga translation AFTER episode one and continued while the anime was airing. I love how Jumpei over came the toxic masculinity to pursue ballet. His love for ballet really is inspiring. You can see the joy in his eyes. Plus I love Jumpei and Natsuki’s chemistry there’s more of them in the manga. I really do wish the manga would get serialized here in the USA and for Mappa to do another season.

2. Sasaki and Miyano

Cute sweet wholesome BL love story I LOVE MY BABIES. If I had to pick a favorite couple of the year it would be Sasaki and Miyano. AAAHHH I couldn’t stop smiling watching this anime it’s good for the soul. Even if you’re not into BL this is the most safest to watch. The anime version of Heartstoppers.

3. My Dress Up Darling

Cute fun wholesome and sweet romance blooming in front of you. Marine is such a joy no doubt my best girl. Goujo’s passion for hinadoll is inspiring. The animation is so pretty especially when they smile. This really did made me proud to be an anime fan. I can’t wait for more of Marine and Goujo.

4. Blue Lock

Out of the ordinary sports anime with some wild and intense animation. Forget about friendship and team work. It’s all about being an egoist survival of the best striker. I really love the characters. BTW I was watching this before the World Cup started and during it really was life imitating anime. Until Japan lost to Croatia. Root for them next World Cup. I can’t wait for more I probably will reading the manga.

5. Demon Slayer Season 2

I laughed cried and screamed. This season was full of emotions plus I felt like I was watching a movie. I love Tanjiro’s growth this season, Uzui was a badass he really is so cool. Nezuko was amazing. Daki and Gyutaro got me heartbroken. Zenitsu and Inosuke were unstoppable everyone really had a fantastic moment.

6. My Hero Academia Season 6

A whole lot better than season 5. A few nip picks here, but it didn’t bother me too much. I really did enjoy this first half. The voice acting was phenomenal and I was just so happy to see my favorite parts of the manga finally animated. Deku is a beast, Bakugou got me screaming, Shouto I want to hug him. I super excited for the next arc.

7. Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie

Cute and funny anime to watch. The moments with Shikimori, Izumi and their friends made me love this anime more. Who said a girl can’t be cute and handsome. BTW Hachimitsu is my spirit animal I love her.

8. Raven of the Inner Palace

The magic in this anime was pretty. The characters were fascinating, I love the Chines setting. Shouxue bring peace to the dead was uplifting. Plus I love Shouxue development she deserves the friends she has made.

9. Urusei Yatsura

The return of the original waifu Lum. I only watch a few episodes of the original anime they were pretty funny and the remake so far is fun to watch. I can see why Lum is so lovable.

10. Love Live Superstar Season 2

Between this one and Nijigasaki I like Superstar’s story more. Plus the series has broken some Love Live traditions. Liella really is a group you should be watching. Magaret and Lanzhu from Nijigasaki are queens. Love Live keeps on innovating new barriers.

11. Attack on Titan Final Part 3

Had me on the edge of my seat. Eren is a freaking beast I couldn’t believe this season it was shock after shock. I can’t imagine how this is going to end. I can’t handle anymore deaths.

12. Kaguya sama Love is War Season 3

Cute and super funny season. Ishigami had me proud like a mama. Miyuki and Chika’s rap was the best. Kaguya finally admitting to herself she loves Miyuki was so sweet.

13. Tokyo Mew Mew New

Another well done remake. I did watch a few episodes of the original anime when I was a kid. So this was kind of nostalgic to me. The girls are so cute I can’t wait to see more of the remake.

14. Mob Psycho 100 Final

A great ending to Mob. After 3 season it really was a joy and emotional journey to watch Mob Psycho 100. I will miss the crazy animation and deep story so much. Thank you Mob for everything a classic that will always be remembered.

15. More than a married couple, but not lovers

To me this was the vanilla version of Domestic Girlfriends. No step sisters, just a love triangle between a guy, his childhood friend and his marriage partner. So many funny and sweet moments. I do ship Jirou and Akari more.

16. Chainsaw Man

Wild and crazy anime to watch. It felt like I was watching a fever dream. I will be honest it didn’t get me hyped as the manga fans expected. But it was great to watch. It’s only the beginning though I do hope it gets another season.

17. Spy x Family

Funny cute and little suspenseful. It did felt like the Loid and Anya show though I do wish we got to see more of Yor’s assassin work too. The heart warming family moments really did touch my hear. Again family doesn’t always have to mean by blood.

18. Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting

Another cute and wholesome anime. Kirishima acted more like a big brother to Yaeka who knew a killer yakuza could have a heart. Family doesn’t always have to mean blood.

19. I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss

Another otome isekai, but it did felt rushed I wished it was more slowed paced. I love Aileen and Claude’s relationship they are so cute. At least they had a happy ending.

20. Shine Post

Such an underrated idol anime. Probably because Love Live was airing around the same time. Love seeing each girl’s reason for being an idol and how much they want to achieve their dream. BTW Rio has the best voice.

Toonami also made a game review for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, the newest addition to the Prince of Persia franchise. It received an 8.5 out of 10 score.

Originally, Jason DeMarco announced that Ninja Kamui will be 12 episodes long, and that this week’s episode would have been the last in the season. However, he and his fellow producers at E&H Animation and Sola Entertainment decided that they needed an extra 13th episode to wrap up the story right. Meaning that next week will be the season finale.

On Tuesday, Adult Swim posted a new trailer for the new season of My Adventures with Superman on their social media channels, revealing that Season 2 will begin with a one-hour premiere of the first two episodes on Toonami on Saturday, May 25, 2024 from Midnight – 1:00 a.m. EDT. Compared to the previous season, where new episodes premiered on Thursday, Season 2 will be premiering new episodes on Toonami to kick off the block every Saturday at midnight.

Toonami later revealed on Friday the schedule for when My Adventures with Superman joins the block on May 25. Since the premiere will be an hour long, Zom 100 will have the night off to make way, meaning that combined with the Ninja Kamui marathon nights on May 11 & 18, Akira and company will be taking a three-week hiatus. Demon Slayer will also begin a rerun of the Entertainment District arc, with the hour long first episode airing from 2:30-3:30 a.m. On June 1, Zom 100 will return, along with reruns of Ninja Kamui airing at 2:30, while Demon Slayer moves to 3 a.m.

Ren was looking to the anon with arms crossed but the boys knew what they spoke of. "Yes, we heard the rumors regarding Ink's greatsword Wyvern-"

"You mean that piece of shit?! It hit me in the damn face five times now! I think it hates me!" Denji grumbles remembering but Ren looks to him remembering that.

"Ahem, but honestly we are unsure of the sword. I've never seen such a weapon having such a aggressive soul. Though, that explains it destructive behavior." Ren said.

"That sword scares me at times from the feeling of being near it at times. But it still is pretty powerful for it." Midoirya said.

"Yeah, it's a cool sword..just wish it would STOP DESTROYING EVERYTHING IT TOUCHES! IT TOOK ME WEEKS TO FIX THE APARTMENT!" Bakugo shouted.

"..I think it's cool. Dangerous but it's almost like my own sword but it's a lot more deadly." Rin said thinking.

"I don't know. The sword feels like a living creature to me but not in a mean way or anything." Atsushi said as Ren sighed.

"To say in quote, the sword is...powerful and strong, but very aggressive."

I’m going to pin this list of titles so that people can more easily figure out what they want to vote for each Friday. Anything labelled with Meta, WIP, or Concept can be voted for.

1. ATTACK ON TITAN

1.1. Coordinates T by H: Eren’s coordinator abilities allow him to metaphysically bond with other humans, thereby giving everyone in the group the ability to psychically communicate with the rest and also boosting everyone’s healing ability exponentially to be on par with the Titan Shifters. 2. BLEACH

2.1. What Happens on Vacation: Crossover with YYH – turns out that Kurosaki Misaki was a senior ferry girl on sabbatical (which translates as living a mortal life unaware of her true nature) and she was late returning to work due to being trapped in Grand Fishers gut. Ichigo and Uryuu are very confused when their “cousin” Kazuma shows up to introduce his new bride to the family. Koenma is just really pissed off by all the paperwork he needs to deal with while cleaning up his father’s mismanaged pet project. Chaptered, WIP - Unposted

3. CODE GEASS

3.1. A Code of Ice and Fire: Crossover with GOT – Lelouch, his two younger siblings, and Lelouch’s most loyal followers are reincarnated into Westeros. Lelouch proceeds to make it his lifelong mission to drive Cersei into frothing fits and strengthens the Baratheon dynasty to the point that even Tywin is impressed by his grandson’s machinations. Then CC shows up with dragons and Ned Stark starts to think that maybe Robert’s onto something with the “drinking to forget” idea. Meta

3.2. Abandon Thyself: Post-Zero Requiem Suzaku travels back in time to the scene in the Shinjuku Ghettos when the truck explodes. Given that the people closest to him haven’t actually spoken to Suzaku in years, the origins of Suzaku’s obvious mental instability is hilariously misattributed by various outside PoVs. So when Suzaku hits his knees in front of Lelouch, swearing eternal devotion and vowing to make Lelouch the next emperor nobody panics. (They should really reconsider panicking.) 3.3. The Sun Also Rises: At the moment of his death in the Zero Requiem, Lelouch travels back in time to his childhood body. With only a week to go before Marianne is “assassinated by terrorists” Lelouch sets out to rearrange the board in a way none of the other players will see coming until it’s far too late. Lelouch has been given a second chance to make things right, and Lelouch wouldn’t be Lelouch if he didn’t plan big. This time around, Lelouch plans for his victory to be a bit more obvious. 4. DCU

4.1. Time Enough: Terry McGinnis, his little brother Matt, and their dogs are the only members of their timeline to survive because Bruce Wayne was too old to see any more of his sons die in front of him. So they all got knocked out, shoved into an escape capsule, and ejected from the Batman Beyond timeline before it crumbles. Said time pod crashes into the middle of a Red Hood versus Match throw down, and Terry’s Wayne-inherited charisma is so powerful it allows him to banter his way into good graces of both villains. 5. DRAGON BALL

5.1. Saiyajin Pride: Alien biology has a larger impact on characterization that it does in canon. Mirai comes back to the main timeline live in sin with Videl and Gohan. Vegeta and Goku deal with some shit that comes from being the last full-blooded members of their species. Then just as things are settling down… Garlic is an idiot who thinks up a loophole in the “can’t wish people dead” rule and wishes Goku and Vegeta’s families straight out of existence and they end up in an entirely different reality. The only upside is that Vegeta finally gets to kill Frieza. Chaptered, WIP - Unposted

6. FAIRY TAIL

6.1. Flight Of Dragons: Future!Lucy misses her target and ends up landing further back in time, during the same year Natsu and the rest of the Dragon Slayer kids were brought to when they were pulled forward in time. Fairy Tail luck kicks in, and future!Lucy runs into child!Laxus as he escapes from his father after being fed the Lightning Dragon Lacrima. Laxus is handed a Prophecy and runs with it. Children have never needed Fairy Tales to tell them that Dragons exist, but they certainly help. Chaptered, WIP - Posted

6.2. My Heart Overflows: Juvia and Grey have finally started dating, but the Fairy Tail Mage Guild has some interesting traditions when it comes to proving the validity of a romantic relationship. Oneshot, Prompt fill - Posted

7. FAMILIAR OF ZERO

7.1. A Velvet Glove: Crossover with TMNT – Leonardo gets summoned to be Louise’s Familiar. Since all of his brothers are dead, Leo sees no reason not to make the most of this “lifelong bond of magic and spirit” and adopts Louise as his little sister. Halgenkia is not prepared for a Louise Francois le Blanc de la Valliere with ninja training. Henrietta is probably far too gleeful over making her best friend her Spymaster, but it’s not like anyone knows enough about what they’re doing to stop her. Reconquista gets exposed and smashed, and Wardes really should have respected his fiancée more. Chaptered, WIP - Posted

8. FINAL FANTASY VII

8.1. A Dirge of Ice and Fire: Crossover with GOT – Several members of Avalanche and the Elite Soldiers are reincarnated as the spares and bastards of Westeros’ Great Houses. Given that Rhaenys Targaryen used to be Cid Highwind, the Sack of King’s Landing goes very differently. Meta

8.2. A Feather’s Weight: Crossover with Naruto – Kakashi and Obito, along with their respective subordinates, are reincarnated in Wutai, and are thus in position to undermine a lot of Hojo’s plans simply by being themselves. Wutai still loses, but by a much smaller margin, and SHIN-RA realizes much too late that Wutai’s “concession” was a trap. Kakashi is a big shiny distraction for Sephiroth, the SOLDIERS revolt, and nobody knows who assassinated President Shinra. Chaptered, WIP - Unposted

8.3. Antiviral: Woden and Gaia conspire to create antibodies to fight off Jenova’s infection. Cid and Vincent end up bearing the brunt of this decision, get roofied by Divine Intervention, and also end up the Gaian equivalent of demonic werewolves. Also the Planet is transforming all the SOLDIERS into werewolves too, yes, even the dead ones. Chaptered, WIP - Posted

8.4. For Love Of: Cid Highwind crashes the Tiny Bronco into Lucrecia’s cave, does the metaphysical equivalent of tearing her heart out and eating it to absorb her power, and them proceeds to adopt General Sephiroth as his son because it’s not like anyone can stop him. Cid Highwind does what he wants. Sephiroth does what Mother wants. SHIN-RA soon regrets everything because Cid Highwind is a hell of a lot better at rewriting the social order than Avalanche is. 8.5. Hindsight is 20-20: CHAOS decides to rewrite time because they have a massive crush on Cid and they don’t want him to die. CHAOS fumbles the landing and Cid ends up in the body of some weird Lucrecia/Ancient-Cetra-Who-Was-Jenova’s-Host Clone and ends up giving birth to Sephiroth. Things only get worse from there. 8.6. Like it Rough: Cid likes Vincent a lot and also has a bit of a kink for scars. Cid walks in on Vincent naked, runs away to hide his raging boner, and Vincent ends up chasing Cid around the airship until he can pin his friend down in the Captain’s bunk because the demons are all drunk on the pheromones. 8.7. Names of Power: Jenova’s taint getting mixed into the Lifestream has far-reaching consequences, and Avalanche gets tapped to handle the fallout whither they like it or not. Series, WIP - Posted

8.7.1. Small Packages: The Lifestream meddles in Avalanches lives even after the Planet has been saved. There are clones and ancient powers better off left alone but it’s not like Avalanche ever gets a say in the matter. Chaptered, WIP - Posted

8.7.2. History Inverted: Jenova isn’t all the way gone and the Planet really doesn’t care if Humanity survives or not as long as the infection is burned away. Aerith shoves the spirits of Avalanche and their children into a new timeline because she doesn’t want to watch their souls get shredded. 8.8. To Earn the Sky: Echidna, Mother of Monsters and Heroes, and Jenova, the Calamity From the Skies, are at war. Hojo makes a very big mistake when he uses the Blood of Echidna’s Children in his Revenant Project. Cid Highwind is a good son, and his Mother wants to meet her new Grandchildren. 9. FINAL FANTASY XV

9.1. A Light of Ice and Fire: Crossover with FFVX – Noctis, his Retinue, and the loyal members of the Kingsglaive and Crownsguard are reincarnated into Westeros. Jorah Mormont is Cor Leonis, but Cor Leonis is not Jorah Mormont, and so the Northern Forces are something to fear in Robert’s Rebellion. By the time King Robert visits Winterfell, it will be a very different Northern Kingdom that he finds there. Meta

10. GAME OF THRONES

10.1. Crossover Fixits to Help Westeros be Less Miserably Doomed: Various casts from other series end up reborn in Westeros and use knowledge from their previous lives to change the Game. Series

10.1.1. An Assemblage of Ice and Fire: Crossover with MCU – Team Iron Man focus, since Tony is reincarnated as Ned Stark. Starks are made of Iron, and Winter is coming. Tony’s genius intellect, knowledge of politics and economics, experience with magic and alternate realities, and the fact that Extremis carried over through his reincarnation and adapted to work with First Man magic means that the Stark siblings who go to the Tourney of Harrenhal are nothing like the canon versions. Rhaegar gets his Stark bride, and he proceeds to regret it for the rest of his life. Meta

10.1.2. A Balance of Ice and Fire: Crossover with SW – Qui-Gon Jinn’s three Padawan Learners and Padme (who got taken in Anakin’s place) are reincarnated as the Tyrell siblings. They proceed to follow the Will of the Force and prepare the Seven Kingdoms to win against the Long Night. Meta

10.2. Singing In A Different Key: SI is reborn as Jon Snow, who then precedes to Machiavelli the fuck out of the North in preparation for the coming Long Night and also to screw over the Lannisters. Because fuckthe Lannisters. Meta

10.3. Wolf At The Door: When Ice takes the head of Eddard Stark, Valeryian magic mixes with the Blood of the First Men. It’s wild, uncontrolled, and Ned ends up as a four year old in Winterfell’s Godswood, staring at his reflection in the water. Eddara Stark, second-born child and first-born daughter of Rikard and Lyarra Stark looks back up at him. Ned, fully believing that this is his punishment for failing his family and best friend the first time around, decides to fix the Realm by fulfilling the Pact of Fire and Ice. The thing about being a woman is that no one ever expects you to be a threat, not even other women. The thing about being the Quiet Wolf is that everyone overlooks you until the moment your teeth sink into their throat. Concept

11. GET BACKERS

11.1. Holy Days of Yore: Various celebration themed fic that explore Ban’s backstory as the “With Queen’s Grandson” and bring a bit more of that old black magic into the Get Backer’s lifestyle. Series

11.1.1. Lupercalia: Ban gets a magic matchmaker box in the mail and everyone wears their heart on their sleeve for Valentine’s Day. Oneshot - Posted

12. GIRL GENIUS

12.1. The Other Side of the River: One of the Jagermonsters manages to catch wind of Lucrecia’s plans and absconds with Klaus Barry during the confusion caused by the first explosion. This understandably causes some disruption in everyones plans when KB and his nanny run into Agatha during her time with the Circus. WIP - Unposted

12.2. Threefold Path: Agatha, Gil, and Tarvek get their brains booted back in time during the si vales valeo and decided to run away and join the circus until they’re old enough to take over the world properly. WIP - Unposted

13. GUNDAM WING

13.1. Mistakes and Misdemeanors: Heero was on blockers for the entire war due to a series of implants, which did no favours to his mental health. When the implants run out Heero gets run over by a hormone train and absolutely nobody knows how to handle that. Chaptered, WIP – Posted (Under Revision)

14. HARRY POTTER

14.1. Black As His Name: Sirius Back lives! Because the Veil dumps his mind-and-soul into the empty body of his younger self in a world where Walburga Black lost it on her eldest son much earlier in life and Sirius was tortured until he was left brain-dead. Arcturus Black is pissed off over the treatment of one of his Heirs and since Sirius’ magic is still intact, names Sirius the Heir to House Black and proceeds to hold the Heirship over everybody’s heads for spite for as long as Sirius continues to “live”. Everyone in the Black Family is very surprised when the annual shaming ritual disguised as Sirius’ birthday party is crashed. By none other than the birthday boy himself. Sirius rolls with it and becomes a True Black in the most Marauder manner possible. WIP - Unposted

14.2. Black Hunt Under Bloody Skies: Crossover with KHR – Regulus and Sirius both end up dumped into KHR because Death owes them a favour on its Master’s behalf. Things start to get weird after the Arcobaleno curse is broken. Regulus is actually Skull and Sirius is his Sky and they confuse the entire Mafia so much. WIP - Unposted

15. HOMESTUCK

15.1. A Jump To The Left Behind: Post game reality has all the races living in a Galactic Republic, and the Troll Ancestors and Human Guardians all need to team up in order to solve the mystery of the planetoid-sized meteor that just barreled into the middle of their busiest spacelane because their names are written all over it. In the process of exploring the meteor they accidently wake up the Players and Sprites. Chaos ensues. Concept

15.2. Pandora’s Final Gift: A mermaid AU where a Deep Old One gives Eridan (and only Eridan) the memories of his Game Player Self as a lark. Eridan hits the level cap for his current reality, freaks out, saves Sollux’s life, and then absconds as far away from the center of the Empire as he can get. Concept

16. INU YASHA

16.1. Hunter’s Moon: The standard “Demon Mating Season” idea that draws on the infectious nature of demon energy in the Sengoku Jidai and runs with it. Everyone over the age of eighteen gets some. Kagome gets to go home and take a nap. Chaptered, WIP – Posted (Under Revision)

17.4. Cat’s Paws: Uri has seen enough Time Travel bullshit to know how it works, and so when Hayato gets himself killed she grabs his soul and flings herself backwards in time because fuck the timeline this is her human and he’s not allowed to abandon her again. The other Box Animals think it’s a great idea and do the same with their humans, and this results in the kind of alternate timeline that gives Byakuran a headache. In other words, Uri creates a timeline where Flame Actives are a lot more Alien than they used to be and now everyone thinks Youkai and other myths are real. Chapters, WIP - Posted

17.5. Fire Shall Waken: All of Nono’s sons are still alive when the Cradle Affair happens and it results in the entire 10th Generation gathering up their Harmonies, rolling Xanxus into a blanket burrito, and taking off to Japan under assumed names where they proceed to spend the next eight years coddling Tsuna and being spoiled rotten by Nana in return. 17.6. Gremlins Della Varia: Mammon’s experiments with the Curse have had some odd side effects on the Varia. It all comes out during the Ring Battles and the other Arcobaleno are Judging You, Viper. Oneshot, Prompt Fill - Posted

17.7. Karma, and the Repercussions Thereof: Crossover with Naruto. Legendary Ninja from the Elemental Countries get reincarnated into KHR and proceed to adopt all the Magic Rainbow Fire Children. Nono and Iemitsu suffer. Series, WIP

17.7.1. Karmic Balance: Kakashi and Obito are ninja married from the very start because of metaphysical bonding and some minor haunting during their last lives. Between Ninshu Shinobi needing to be in Clans and Flame Actives needing to be in Harmonies it does not take long before the child stealing begins. Gokudera Kakashi is the best wife and Dokuro Obito repents, repeatedly and often, while also having the time of his second life. Tsuna loves his Kakashi-sensei and wants to be just like him when he grows up. Chaptered, WIP - Posted

17.7.2. Karmic Justice: Madara and his brothers are reborn as Fon’s nephews and do not take kindly to the Arcobaleno curse being put on one of their relatives. The Hibari Clan proceeds to start hunting for the Man in the Iron Man en mass. Madara and his brothers hit Namimori during Nono’s visit and witness the sealing of Tsunayoshi. They don’t take well to this either. Things go worse for Tsuna than they do in canon and Madara hunts down Tobirama because he needs the resurrection to be done perfectly. Tsuna loves his Madara-shishou and wants to be just like him when he grows up. Oneshot - Posted

17.7.2.1. Karmic Justice – Hubris: Madara comes across Xanxus in the ice while investigating the Vongola and despite Xanxus being a bit older than the usual target for child stealing decides to steal him anyway. After resurrecting Tsuna, Madara and Tobirama’s next project is defrosting Xanxus. Concept

17.7.2.2. Karmic Justice – Providence: Madara finds Xanxus on the streets while hunting in Italy for the Man in the Iron Mask. Wrath Flame calls to Wrath Flame and Madara instantly adopts the delightfully savage little boy. Then Namimori happens, and Tsuna’s seal gets him temporarily killed, and Xanxus reaches 100-year-vengance-plot levels of overprotective big brother. WIP - Unposted

Music of the Spheres: Crossover with SM – Post Stars Usagi and Post Vongola Inheritance Tsuna are cousins who meet for the first time ever only after the Vongola’s enemies kidnap Ikkuko and Shingo. Wutai still loses, but by a much smaller margin, and SHIN-RA realizes much too late that Wutai’s “concession” was a trap. 20.2. A Space Between Ice and Fire: Crossover with GOT – The Konoha Founders and their siblings are reincarnated as Starks and Baratheons and manage to save the Realms of Men while resolving their many and varied issues with one another. Meta

Said S-class secret distracts Obito on his way to ambush Kushina’s labour and several different chase scenes take place. They all end up in the ROOT base made from one of Tobirama’s old labs and instead of Kyuubi getting loose Team Ro, the Fourth Hokage’s team of bodyguards, Obito, Anko, and all of ROOT plus Danzo himself get dumped into the Warring Clans Era. Obito kills Danzo in a panic when he realizes that taking the Bijuu means killing Rin, Kakashi sacrifices himself again, and there is a lot more running around. Kakashi suborns ROOT en masse, Obito is stupidly overpowered and homicidal but it’s okay because Kakashi is playing damsel in distress and distracting him. The Senju and the Uchiha are all really confused by these kids, there are far too many mistaken identities, and Konoha gets founded much earlier than in canon. Meta

Look the Innocent Flower: Orochimaru gets the Hat instead of Minato because instead of working for Danzo he creates his Baby-no-Jutsu (the same one that produced Rogu and Mitsuki) and that’s how Orochimaru accidently turns Tenzo into the Orochimaru-and-Tsunade lovechild while field testing some gene-splicing adoption techniques. Sarutobi is so delighted by all the babies he names Orochimaru his successor without any further debate. Konoha proceeds to become a somewhat androgynous, gender-fluid utopia full off affectionate, friendly people who only want you for your body. Orochimaru refuses to allow hypocrisy in his Konoha and loyalty to ones comrades is not only encouraged, it’s enforced. Meta

Zakuulan Death Masks

it's ya boi, back again for more Zakuulan worldbuilding re: the six machine gods and Zildrog! this is going to be a mixture of screenshots from a discord conversation last night and text, but basically, this all stemmed from me deciding that the Zakuulans have symbolic masks related to death and its place in their culture.

(off the bat: yes this is free for people to use just please credit me)

starting with: Zakuulan funeral traditions and the yearly festival celebrating/pacifying Izax, the dragon of Zakuul and god of death.

there are five festivals held throughout the year celebrating the pantheon: Tyth (winter turning into spring), Esne + Aivela (spring), Izax + Zildrog (summer solstice), Nahut (fall turning into winter), Scyva (winter solstice). each of them are important for various reasons, but we're going to focus on Izax and Zildrog's festival, set on the summer solstice, which is the longest day of the year, but the shortest, darkest night, after which the nights begin to get longer again.

in the old days, before Valkorion unified Zakuul under the Eternal Throne as the machine gods' demon slayer that was prophesied (which he was not actually, but that's for a different post), the Six Gods were revered more out of fear than anything else (Scyva being the only one truly loved). the most feared was the dragon, the god of death, Izax the Devourer, who consumed the souls of the dead and could strike at any time. nearly all-powerful, Izax was so far above mortals that he needed one of them to help him tell apart the human souls from the rest of the life in the galaxy - hence where Zildrog comes from. Zildrog is the one who guides Izax to take the souls.

during funerals, the entire settlement would wear death masks modeled after a mechanical rendition of Zildrog's face, with only the dead person's face left uncovered. when Zildrog came to lead Izax to devour souls, he would be confused by everyone wearing his face and, unable to tell them apart from himself, would only guide Izax to the recently-deceased. this logic was the same one that guided the death festival; before Valkorion's rise, the various settlements would have an annual sacrifice (volunteered for, not forced) at the culmination of the festivities. the sacrifice would be the only one not wearing a mask, and the hope was that having been given a willing sacrifice, Izax would thus leave them alone for the rest of the year.

Valkorion took power by claiming to be a prophesied hero who slayed the machine gods. he turned the festivals worshipping them into parties, but to keep the Zakuulan people content, and to give them something to focus on in their utopian society, he didn't outlaw the practice of the Old Ways. however, most Zakuulans look down on people who still practice, because it means they don't have complete faith in their Immortal Emperor. some people who practice just do it for the same reason they idolize Firebrand - it's a small, harmless rebellion that gives them a bit of a rush (ex: Tyth's festival involves bonfires and walking over the hot coals when the fire has burned down. it's still widely practiced; most Zakuulans get the damaged fixed up after. some do not. those ones are either the thrill-seekers - or the truly devout). others practice it because they really do believe in the Six Gods. there's a spectrum, ofc, but no one who practices it talks about it very widely.

after Valkorion's death, there's a renewed interest in the Old Ways, mostly by people who truly regarded him as their god and don't know what to do now that he's dead and their faith has been shattered. (there's definitely at least a small group of people that decide to worship the outlander instead, as the new vessel for their god's spirit.)

now we get into the various cults on Zakuul - the Heralds of Zildrog and the Scions. i'll start with the Heralds. the Heralds and their Exalted serve Zildrog and Izax, and their desire is to bring back their serpent to cleanse Zakuul in fiery death (wow, dramatic much?). they perform the Old Ways, especially the rituals to Zildrog and Izax, in their entirety - including the sacrifices (the Exalted seems to generally be less of a devout believer and more political, so i fully believe they'd use the opportunity to get rid of people who threaten the cult's stability) - but with the difference of not wearing the death masks. they want Izax's attention on them, they want Zildrog to return, and they are perfectly happy with, even eager for, their own deaths happening to bring that about.

the Scions, on the other hand, manage to be the ones to combine the Old Ways with the worship of Valkorion. yes, they worship fate above all else, but they are absolutely devoted to Valkorion. i believe they think Valkorion - who is absolutely full of dragon motifs, who calls himself the Dragon of Zakuul - is Izax in human form.

Valkorion is immortal. Valkorion has been guiding their civilization for a thousand years. therefore, Valkorion must be the god of death, because no true human could live for that long or be that powerful. the leader of the Scions does not wear a mask, but all of their followers do (this is supported by the game iirc), because only the leader communicates directly with Valkorion (only the leader is worthy to, perhaps, i haven't completely worldbuilt this out). Valkorion was very content to let them keep their mythology; he had no interest or use in the rest of the Scions anyway, except in how they could be useful to him.

What characters do you think you could combine to make Joelle?

☆꧁✬◦°˚°◦. ♠ ♣ ♥ ♦ .◦°˚°◦✬꧂☆ Thank you for the ask Mel! It actually took me a good amount of time to even decide upon who would be most fitting to build Joelle. Since she has some of my own self insert in her , but really which oc doesn't? It was kind of hard to decide xD But I think I've managed to collect the ones that are pretty relatable with my character. So here it goes!

Lucy - Elfen Lied If I have to be honest I've never would of thought upon how similar Joelle and Lucy stories are. I was never intending to have so many similarities with this specific characters until recently I stumbled upon a video that made me remember a bit more about the anime and how it played out. Lucy is a very interesting character , born with a 'sickness' ever since she was little kind of reminded me upon Joelle's origin as a pillar both past and present . Lucy has been bullied , barely knew any kind of friends and because of her 'sickness' everyone was after her because what she can cause with her powers , until she stumbled upon one that really liked her for who she was [Kind of gives me the possible Joseph or Rei vibes but without the romantic kind of intent that was implied in the story because Lucy did fall in love with her best friend.] She was brought into a lab to keep away from the outside world and experimented on , until she broke out and was given a chance for a second life regardless of what she had witnessed and did in her youth.

Ren Tao - Shaman King A few aspects that I can collect from Ren are the anger he has built for humanity that really matches with Joelle's story . Because when she ended up in the XPD facility where they did various of experiments on her and basically played her like a toy she began to pile up a lot of anger upon those people creating an image in her head that they were all the same . But after meeting with someone who opened her eyes to the world , she began to have another look upon things and wanted to try and move on and heal but also find a new purpose in life .

Edward Elric - Fullmetal Alchemist When ever I would look at Ed I could actually see a few aspects of Joelle as well , because of his own determination to fix what he has done in the past and return his brother back to his original body , reminds me of how Joelle wants to protect her new family and find a way to stop evil from prevailing . It also gives a pinch of hint upon how him and his brother were trying to bring back their mother , is a similarity upon how Joelle wanted to bring back her own mother but instead she ended up releasing a curse that later on haunts her , the same way Ed and Alphonse tried to bring their mother back and ended up creating a homunculus being. Sadly I haven't watched brotherhood and I really need to , but I'd assume I'd find even more similarities if I do so~. But I do however see a lot of pieces of Ed in Joelle!

Misaki Ayuzawa - Kaichou wa maid-sama This goes a bit on her emotional side to be honest. Misaki is a perfect representation of Joelle , a strong and very responsible individual and yearns for a piece of romance in her life that will assure her that they will stay with them for who they are . A perfect aspect of her Tsundere side because she is very conflicted and very confused when it comes to these sort of things. I absolutely adore her strong character and how she is able to handle so many responsibilities , reminds me upon her current position in the SpeedWagon foundation , a lot fear her because of how she would act and how her attitude just goes across the room, but a good amount also admire her when they get to know her personally and understand her better upon why she is the way she is , that she has a very gentle side to her.

Chise Hatori - Ancient Magus Bride Another little lost soul that was being sold to the world. Chise has always been one of my most favorite characters once I started the anime , the aspects of her that I see in Joelle are the growth she managed to accomplish with herself , she used to have a normal life a happy family , but eventually that turned around when 'dark beings' (which would hint the cults of Hearteater) began to make their way into their life and make it more dangerous to be around , and even the fact that her own 'blood and family' tried to kill her is the hint of her father that almost killed her. [But in the anime it was the mother that tried to.] She eventually ends up in good hands which help her see the world with different eyes and find who she really is and help her discover her own courage and determination that she wants to do better for herself and others around her .

Shigeo Kageyama - Mob Psycho Little little shy Mob~. He was one of my main inspirations if I have to be honest because a lot matched with the two of them. This comes around her more doubtful and shy side. Mob is a perfect representation of both Joelle's moods , when she is sweet and respectful to a menace and a deadly being if they come near their family. Her relationship with Reigen matches with the one me and my friend Mel have with Joelle and Yorie . Let's not forget about how crazy batshid he went when they took his brother away and he was willing to do everything in his powers to save him... but there was also the fire in his house.. now that is basically the next level of Chapter Death in a sense. But for real there are a lot of aspects behind Mob that I connect with Joelle and how her character is displayed~.

Yuuji Itadori - Jujutsu Kaisen Yuji is the aspect of Joelle that exists kind of rare but it's still there , it's her little goofy side , but the amount of love for her friends and family is also there . His determination and courage to protect his new friends is the same as Joelle trying to protect her own regardless of what kind of burden both of them carry that can cause the destruction of the world, even if the the two of them might appear weak to most they would always throw themselves in danger to protect their loved ones , but later one begin to grow in personality and strength . Maybe I can even connect a tad bit Sukuna and Chapter Death because both are the representation of the final stage when the 'scary' takes over and would basically erase your existence . Yuji and His friends remind me a whole lot of Joelle and her own little crew and how each of them help each other and will always be there no matter what. Basically the hero that wants to save everyone and doesn't really care what happens to them , as long as everyone is safe .

Manjiro Sano and Ken Ryuguji - Tokyo Revengers These two go in pair ~. I see a big portion of aspects of the two in Joelle and each of them kind of represent her 'goofy' and her very serious and respect side. Mikey is a bit more laid back and chill but at the same time very scary , a bit how Joelle is in a sense how she can be so calm on certain occasions until she finally snaps and beats the crap of anyone who doubted her and called her 'small and helpless.' This is the aspect I enjoy the most between the two because they underestimate their opponent and then get their ass handed to them , that's how the two kind of go xD. Draken would be maybe her grown up and mature side in a way and the one that keeps things in line when ever there is justice that needs to be served because no one is allowed to hurt their friends and family. Very loyal and determined and even jump down to apologize for their wrongs to try and correct themselves and possibly help their friends understand the situation a little better , unless there is no way out they always try and reason first before jumping into action.

Nezuko Kamado - Demon Slayer / Kimetsu no Yaiba [New Add] I almost forgot!! Honestly I can't forget to include my favorite little goofball . Another little demon that I can see a lot of personality traits and aspects in Joelle as well. Nezuko and Tanjiro are also a good representation of both Jericho and Joelle in a sense because of how strong their bond is beyond anything . I don't want to spoil anything in my current arcs because I want to keep it a surprise since I have a whole lot of things to decide on . Nezuko displays Joelle's very protective side and very caring one as well the side of value she feels towards her surroundings and regardless of being a little 'different' she still is the same person no matter what happens and will never lose her humanity even after being 'cursed'. And even be a little bit of a hint of her sensitive and cute side too regardless that she doesn't show it too often xD.

Saitama - One Punch Man And last but not least , I put him on the bottom because at the beginning when I was creating Joelle I would always think of Saitama and how she was going to play out of sort of a joke that is really powerful and kind of blunt in a sense . But now she has grown so much and has so much potential , story and personality behind her that you can't even imagine! Saitama was maybe my very first inspiration when I created her because for some odd reason I really like OP shid and I mean literally xD. I don't know why but I just do , but regardless of Joelle being kind of OP orientated , later on when I began to play out her story I started to balance her because I wanted her to seem a bit more real other than I just came here to kick your ass and you're dead now lmfao. She still has some funny little aspects of Saitama behind her that's for sure , but she is completely different now and I am super proud of what a long journey she has gone through and grown so much as a character ^ ^. I asked myself the same question since I started watching this: Why am I so mesmerized by Demon Slayer? (SPOILERS AHEAD)

Kimetsu no Yaiba is just like any other fantasy universe anime I've seen so far—with the involvement of demons, inhumane skills, and the usual up and down arcs—yet somehow this one is so beautifully unique I can't wrap my head around it.

Firstly, you have the well-written plot. In all the animes I've seen the main character has to have some kind of goal or dream. We see all that with shows like MHA, Naruto, One piece etc etc. Each having the passion to achieve what they want for themselves but with Demon Slayer, it's absolutely void of that.

As a short introduction, we have the anime's protagonist, Tanjiro Kamado, who is a simple boy born in a poor family in a secluded country in old Japan and is the oldest of 6 siblings.

He knows about the rumours of man-eating demons—yes, man-eating demons—lurking in their world during the night but instead of the usual childish or brave nature of believing them, much less wanting to face / exterminate them like some wannabe hero, he simply shrugs it off and continues to do what he usually does: working hard to provide for his family.

And that's the intriguing part about the beginning! We see this boring yet lovable character who doesn't want anything for himself rather tries to help his mother and his siblings while he can since their father's passing. He's a gentleman just going through life for the betterment of those around him UNTIL he's finally given that darker goal. It's like having potatoes for dinner followed by a surprise dessert.

Returning from work—he sells coal, that's how poor they are—at sunrise, he comes home to his family massacred with the culprit gone. At that point, I admit, I began thinking, "Oh, so it's not different than the others. He sees his family dead, that drives him to join some demon hunting organisation in finding the killer and yada-yada-yada". BUT THEN!! Y'all ISTG, this is what made me love the whole thing. One of his sisters, Nezuko, is actually still alive, though barely.

He takes notice of this and desperately runs down a snowy mountain with her on his back and is constantly praying that he will reach help before it's too late.

And like one amazing twist after another, it's revealed that the reason she survived was because she was turned into a demon, which is evident after she tries attacking him midway.

He blocks her bites and claws until Giyuu, a 'Demon Slayer' finds them and tries beheading Nezuko to kill her.

Just when I thought I couldn't love this anime more than I already do, Tanjiro pleads with the demon slayer to spare his sister even when she was now lashing out with the intent to eat both of them like some rabid animal. Giyuu denies his sobs and Tanjiro goes as far as to challenge the skilled swordsman all for the sake of his last living family member, who, again, is now a man eating monster.

Eventually Tanjiro is knocked out and Nezuko manages to get out of Giyuu's grasp, lunges forward to her brother's body and to Giyuu's shock, instead of sinking her teeth into him, she legit kneels in front of him in a way that shows she's actually trying to protect him from the demon hunter.

Moments later Tanjiro then wakes up and cries tears of joy when he finds his sister beside him still on the snowy ground alive and with a bamboo now plastered on her mouth. From there, not only has Giyuu spared them but also helped Tanjiro in beginning his new life's mission: Finding the one who massacred his family as well as a cure for her sister, even though it is impossible to turn a demon back into a human.

See, what's amazing about that is the writer strayed away from the cliched path of writing our MC as a vengeful person who turns all 180 because of ~trauma~. The writer kept Tanjiro's initial trait of being gentle and caring throughout the entire story in such a way that the viewers are concerned when and if he's going to break at some point only to be reminded time and time again that he won't.

And that's where we arrive at the second beauty of DS: The characters, especially the chosen MC.

Demon Slayer's characters are one of the things that make the show fun to watch without ever feeling disgusted because none of them—like the ones in most animes—are absolute perverts nor is there any hint of sexualizing said characters in any way. Heck even Tengen, who has three wives, married them not for the sake of a harem but to give them a life with a purpose other than being an accessory.

That aside, there's our MC Tanjiro Kamado. This boy be making me question my standards for men.

Like I said in the beginning, he's an absolute gentleman. Kind, caring, compassionate, and by God is his empathy and perspective so high.

You'd think after finding out his family was killed by a demon he'd absolutely despise every single one of them, especially since he's just 14 at the start and we all know teens are mostly driven by their overwhelming emotions but no. Even knowing demons are absolute monsters who feast off of anyone in sight, it is always in his mind that they were also once human with families and emotions, just like his sister. He kills them, no shit, because really, would you let an immortal man-eating demon be rampant?

Absolutely not, it's them or the people. But Tanjiro feels for them, which is shown multiple times in every episode. They try to kill him, he gets angry too, but no matter how bad the demon is or how much rage is in him, Tanjiro doesn't have the heart to hate them. Well, except for Muzan and a couple of the moons but that's totally understandable.

He is respectful unless he has a good reason not to be. He doesn't hold grudges unless it's Muzan, and I can't forget how many times he blamed himself and apologise for situations that were inevitable at the moment and weren't even his fault to begin with, much less start at how many times he felt helpless but stayed strong and tried to make himself useful to the point where he was so close to death.

This. This is a great main character, right here. The side characters are also enjoyable of course. (My favourite is Shinobu, yes I know what happens to her, and no, I'm still not over it.) But Tanjiro as the MC is another reason why this show is awesome. It has an actual good role model!! And I thank Gotouge for that.

Lastly, we have the animation and the music.

Lord, I could just pass away.

Demon Slayer is written by Koyoharu Gotouge—who seems a lot like Tanjiro personality-wise based on his inserted manga doodles—and is animated by studio Ufotable which is shocking to me since I've seen their previous animations and was not impressed.

How they evolved to combining 3d and 2d with Demon Slayer, excluding Mugen Train, to perfection is beyond me. The contours of the art style alone are thick in both dimensions but the movements go from rough to smooth in perfect transitions that it's absolutely pleasing to the eye!!

How the colours are also set to complement and contrast the background is aesthetically unfathomable I could just stare at it all day.

The music? The soundtrack is amazing. Period. It captures traditional Japanese tones but has a slight mix of the modern era, one such example is 'Wisteria' and sometimes it can get tech-y like Zenitsu's theme, though like the animation, it blends perfectly with the strings. I just can't get enough of this masterpiece.
