i will not stand here and say the quarry's writing is perfect by any means, but man. that moment. in the beginning. when chris absolutely loses his shit and you see every last one of the hacketteers freeze..............shocked, wide-eyed, so taken aback they don't move even to look at each other.............

and then, realizing what just happened, chris scrambles frantically to grab hold of the situation again. he tries to grin at ryan ("tries" being the keyword), he tosses him the keys like nothing's wrong. he tries to go back to being mr. h - he does, he tries so hard - and finally when ryan talks to him, there's what waver in his voice. that absolute lack of understanding in his eyes. ryan's not just surprised, he's not just shocked......for a second there, he is scared, and chris sees that, realizes it, and peels out of there before anyone can say anything else. just.....

JUST............

i think that moment is 100% the moment i realized UH OH I THINK I LOVE CHRIS HACKETT because that's when we see the counselors have been around this guy for two whole months (some of them even longer, possibly), and not once. not once!!!!!!!!!!! had they realized who he really was.

ugh. UGH. i LOVE IT.

On a serious note, I do feel mysterious case lotusbook has a lot of sincere themes about getting older, realities of responsibility and dreams realized, how it's difficult to succeed and not always the direct path one expects, how there's value in little aspects of life. Almost every li lianhua scene seems to be about that to some degree. The murder cases aren't particularly deep as far as super complicated to figure out or Able to be predicted super well (since they don't always give all the details in the initial setup), but the themes about who was killed and why do connect to li lianhuas situation.

okay so

I've been looking into Single Father Surrogacy.

Now, I am still trying to understand the whole process of what it will initial, and different types of surrogacies because I honestly didn't know of these two above on the image, and that could only be it, but I'm trying to figure out or understand it better. I feel as though educating myself first is the right decision before I do anything else. I don't know what I'll have to do in terms of supporting said person carrying my baby, but I'm willing to fund everything and do anything required of me to make it happen.

I'll most likely start the application and inquiring process next year, but I am aiming for when I'm thirty-two or latest , thirty-five years old to make the single father surrogacy a reality.

I know it sounds pathetic or weird, etc but I've come to accept and be at peace at least that I might not find someone out there? You know, to love and create wholesome, small but meaningful memories with, etc.

I was also super okay in being with someone who already had children through prior relationship(s), heck I would have loved their kids as my own or at least treat them with so much love, care, and hopefully become someone they would be able to trust, etc. I was totally okay with that and all I would have asked said partner is one child from both of us or if not, them to be okay with me becoming a sperm donor.

However, I'm not going to go on dating apps ever again (although I might try eHarmony just to give these next two years a shot) and no one here where I live interests me so I know that I will most likely end up being single forever. And that's okay. I really am okay with that. 😊😊😊 Sometimes life is that way.

However, I am super lucky and grateful about the fact that I do still have an opportunity in becoming a parent without a partner through surrogate.

I know I said, I was okay with having a partner that didn't want kids, and I am, but only if they would be okay with me becoming a sperm donor so if ever, it would be used and I'll know that there's a little half me out there (if I'm not allowed to be involved in their life). I feel ready to be a parent. I want that responsibility. I believe in my ability to be a great father and so this will be the "taboo" measure that I'm willing and will take to become a dad. 😊😊

Sorry about rambling, but I'm passionate about this AND I just wanted to share a little more context to your ask.

so maestro told me tonight at the end of rehearsal that he "got an email about me", turns out it was the org that's interviewing me next week for their summer job reaching out to him as a reference. and then when that was figured out maestro proceeded to spend the next, like, twenty minutes standing there writing out a recommendation for me on his phone at 10 pm while i'm Sitting Right There, just trying to get the assignment notes to send to the orchestra,

#living in a Comedy over here #he kept occasionally asking me questions too like 'how long have i known you? ten years?' (it's 8 or 9 at this point)#and 'do they know about your honors and high grades' ('i mean they have my resume so i guess so' 'i will mention it anyway'#lmao thanks maestro)#once again it's very sweet the lengths he goes to help me succeed professionally #i don't know if i. needed to or should have been Right There while he recommended me...#but there it is i suppose. one glowing recommendation ahead of my interview next week #although since this is the first time he's mentioned getting contacted like this i think this means the other internships i applied to #a month/month and a half ago just...never bothered to reach out and overlooked me as a candidate. sigh #oh well...i got one (1) response this week for one (1) job opportunity #(and it was the one i applied to kind of late out of. waning hope that the others were still a possibility..)#so. hoping i don't fuck up next week during my interview and hoping i don't have some crazy competition or something #bc damn i really want and need this internship......please......#i wanna talk about me

watching this clip again and thinking about girlhood and reflection and time and gender roles. like, i see my 7-year old niece, and it's gut-wrenching to watch her be pushed into the same eldest-daughter patterns of performance and forced perfection that i was as a kid, knowing what waits for her and yet not being able to save her.

#as a kid/teen i was forced into perfection -- top grades. constantly performing. constantly being responsible. no fuck ups EVER.#ALWAYS empathetic. always compassionate. always having to regulate my emotions when adults around me exploded in fury.#i could go on. but all this screwed with my self-perception and sense of self-worth + self-esteem for literal DECADES #so it's just absolutely gut-wrenching to see those same patterns played out again and again and again #and i don't know how to fix it #does this make sense? i'm rambling again. it's late and i'm tired but god is girlhood so heavy #disclaimer: i'm approaching this as a white middle class person in the global north so my perception is influenced by those privileges #experiences of girlhood are affected by intersecting identities of race/class/etc. so my pov is very limited in that regard #on girlhood #feminism

I'm not sure if this has been brought up yet, but as I caught myself doing it, I realized it was very likely a good chunk of others are also - I think having the racist parts included in the poll is going to heavily skew the data anyway because people will, very likely, not feel able to vote for something racist in good conscience, and so the votes the racist screams would have gotten if they weren't racist are lost, thus making the data unusable due to personal bias. not even considering the number of people abstaining completely, dropping the pool of data further! I'm not aware if this has been broached yet, but I think it's definitely worth noting that the data for the racist clips will always be untrustworthy, even if the scream itself is good. On top of all of the other reasons why they should be omitted ofc!

GOD YEAH. i feel so dumb going “🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 well gee you make a good point there 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔” all contemplatively because i’m realizing that was my intent too, in that “well hopefully they’ll whittle down as the rounds go further and further” has been constantly harping on my mind. but that absolutely feeds into everything you laid out too, which, again, i DEEPLY appreciate.

i’ll be doing that, then, in that i think it’s the safest and SMARTEST course of action. it’s likewise been pointed out that the setting is a little different here than if i were doing one of my analyses, in that i’m still making it available to vote for one of those options, and that interactive element innately delegitimizes the harm/makes light of it under the guise of a poll.

i was conflating that perspective with my analyses, which IS often a more objective presentation of “okay: this is it. here is the historical context. here is how a more modern perspective impacts how it currently stands” and forgetting that polls are polls. you’re voting on them. they’re going to get spread around and viewed as a game. and they are! and i was viewing the polls from the same archivist lens as the rest of my blog, when, due to the intrinsic nature of how these polls works, you can’t really do that. it’s not the same presentation. i do view this as a historical archival of the progression of these cartoons, how Mel Blanc’s voice changes and adapts through voice direction and even the impact of history on these shorts (like, the shorts made during the WWII years are much more energetic than the domesticity of the post-war cartoons. there’s more yelling to be found in the WWII era shorts for that reason) and i was getting too lost in that and sticking to my guns of “all of this is history and deserves to be acknowledged and accounted for fairly, if/especially describing how well or poorly something has aged, otherwise it’s not history” and that doesn’t… really… work… for these polls.

i can’t believe it’s taken weeks for me to come to this realization and again, i sincerely thank you and everyone else who has called me out on this or offered other means of perspective. it was pure ignorance on my behalf, and i do want to make it known that it was never my intention to perpetuate these stereotypes and caricatures further nor harm anyone. but, obviously, prefacing it with “my intentions were good!” doesn’t negate the very real and serious harm these caricatures and i myself have caused by spreading them in such a leisurely context (or lack thereof).

as mentioned before, i take the safety and comfort of my followers and readers incredibly seriously, ESPECIALLY with the nature of these cartoons. and it’s exactly why i’m so adamant about asking people (such as yourself) to speak up and call me out, let me know what i’ve done wrong, so i can apologize, take accountability, and move forward. those disclaimers aren’t a way to avoid accountability or make it seem like i have a free pass to discuss racism. i really do mean them with every ounce of my heart, so i deeply, deeply, deeply appreciate people such as yourself acting out on those messages. thank you.

i will be excising any future deplorable examples that come up (that, thankfully, have been very few and far between, i’m up to 1948 in logging these and have “only” run into 2 that would apply) and am just going to cut any of the winners out that survived and are going into Round 2. it’s not worth it. none of it has been, but definitely, if i’m constantly thinking to myself “it’ll whittle down!” then maybe we ought to restructure our thinking now haven’t we. funny how that works.

thank you again and my deepest and most sincere apologies. i feel like a complete and utter heel for my negligence—especially because the gut instinct of “just don’t put them in there” was there all along. but, again! these exact situations are why i stress the importance of calling me out on my BS. i’m likewise deeply aware of literally just how silly this entire thing sounds, because none of this should have ever been a problem because i just shouldn’t have included them in the first place! but i did, and i take full accountability, and the harm has already been done. so i just ask and thank you for your patience, understanding and forgiveness, but completely understand that nobody—especially those harmed by my ignorance—is entitled to give it to me.

nobody ever deserves to be confronted nor harmed with such egregious stereotypes, even/especially if said stereotypes are peddled under the guise of objectivity or historical preservation. a poll is not a history site. likewise, nobody deserves to be alienated over cartoons. i post what i post because i want to share the same overflowing love and passion and joy i feel for animation history with others. i love learning new factoids. i love being educated. i love feeling like i’m learning, like i’m indulging in an intimate slice of life from a bygone era. i want to share that same love and passion and joy to my followers. i’m here to make people laugh and to make people smile. i’m here to remind people of long buried memories, or to inspire them to make new ones and investigate these cartoons themselves. i’m here to preserve the history of these cartoons within their proper contexts, and do what i can to ensure i’m doing that safely and smartly and in a way that benefits everyone. and i’m not going to accomplish any of that by slipping needlessly horrendous caricatures in something as inconsequential as a poll on which clip sounds funnier or more impressive or whatever and causing the harm.

bpd vs cptsd is really confusing also bpd vs autism. anyway

#and like the debate that bpd is just cptsd #and is a disorder rooted in trauma #but trauma also isnt a diagnostic requirement but also idk if i believe ppl w bpd who say they have no trauma at all #well im sure there r exceptions but also think a lot of ppl downplay trauma they went thru #nd ppl say bpd/personality disorders in general r from trauma and learned trauma responses for survival #But reading up abt cptsd lately its like everything also resonates w ne #me #but i still think i am like textbook definition of bpd lol. i was in a split for literally a week #it was hell i actually dont know how i survived bc i was so close to kmsing a lotttt bc mental illness is running my life rn #and making it unbearable!! i am just tryi g to find internal safety again and trust in others and #build my own resilience and trust in myself above all. reparentify myself and learn how to make a #sustainable life for myself when ive been trying to function like a -#'normal' neurotypical stable person for all my life and had no idea my mental problems ran this deeply #like iwish i had gotten help sooner. i feel horrible my life has gotten to this point bc i did nothing abt it when i was a kid or younger #adult bc i didnt know i guess. idk #i just realized my.upbringing has a bigger effect than i even know on who i am today. i have sm repressed memories too lmfao

“I know. I just want to,” Crystal smiled and Gigi’s heart fluttered.

“Are you sure I can’t see it? I’m not going to love it any less if I see it before it’s done. In fact, I might even love it more,” Gigi angled again.

Crystal was quiet a moment, and Gigi tried not to stare at the way Crystal’s tongue darted over her lips. “It's frankly unfair how hard it is to say no to you,” Crystal griped after a moment, stepping out of frame to grab something.

Gigi took the moment of privacy to try and still her racing heart. It was a painting, not a declaration of love. Crystal had made paintings for most of their friend group for various celebrations. This was nothing new or special. Still, Gigi felt like she couldn’t breathe when Crystal returned, gripping tightly to a small canvas.

Without her noticing, an hour had passed and Anetra, flopping onto the bed after messing up a trick with smoke rings, had moved so her head was resting in Marcia’s lap. Marcia absentmindedly played with the waves of Anetra’s hair. She looked so soft laying across her lap; nothing like the intimidating force of a woman she was when she was angry, or the stoic statue who wouldn’t show any emotion or vulnerability. This was the Anetra that Marcia had gotten glimpses of here and there, when Anetra was drawing, or spending time with Sasha, or after the Halloween party.
