commission updates, additions, kofi !

hi! lots of updates, i'll try be concise but this is going to get long sorry!

updates to current commissions! what was the full artwork/"usual" commission type is going to be priced at $70usd, and this is a full piece/with up to 2 detailed characters/only a few words type. however, i'm splitting up detailed background additions, and words additions. because they take quite a bit of extra time. detailed backgrounds are an additional $10usd, and phrases/words/sentences that are more than 3 or 4 words (it's hard to give preemptive examples so i'm always happy to clarify) are also an additional $10usd. using past commissions as examples, these two are considered the first/basic type, no words, bg is detailed but i'd still say it's simple type. $70usd

and these two are examples of extended phrases, simple bg! $80usd

finally, these two are examples of detailed backgrounds, with the first also having extended phrases. $90usd and $80usd

and that's those! moving on!

new type of commissions i'd like to do, headshots! they're also going to have differing prices, here's some examples!

-no shading, simple, $40usd -complex effects, no major shading, $50usd -full shading, $50usd

finally, kofi! i've been wanting to find a good way to reward members, and to start i've decided on a couple of things. monthly, mid-tier and high-tier members get to choose something i'll draw fanart of, even if it's not one of my interests (if i know nothing about it i'll try my best!!) i'll be starting this at the beginning of next month! this also doesn't change that i'll be holding another public poll soon (of my interests) to choose the next general fanart! mid-tier and high-tier kofi members will also get an outright 20% off commissions! i'll be keeping track, just let me know when dming/emailing :D

Once again thinking about how my rent is gonna increase in the next month of a half (the beginning of next year approximately) and the new rent cost is simply not worth it for my place and thinking about how the new rent cost is how much it would cost for a decent one bedroom in one of the two major cities of PA where there's more job opportunities and just things to DO in general, but I'm too scared of change to actually go through with it...

Of course the moment my province announces increasing the minimum wage as it's tied to inflation, people pop out of the woodwork saying that this will mean prices will go up as if there hasn't been rampant inflation already.

I'm pretty sure it's not a future $0.65 raise which was just announced that's causing you to pay dozens/hundreds extra a month on food and rent alone for the past several months if not a year or more.

Stop gnashing your teeth at people already scraping by because you "went through the same and managed" and focus that anger at the people and systems that are actually causing it.

#haven't seen any 'but think of the mom and pop stores' yet but it's only a matter of time #pretty sure the bigger impact that would help independent stores out #would be to sort out the companies that hold commercial locations #and would rather have stores/buildings be empty than rent them at a reasonable rate #also it's not the same thing because have you seen the prices lately?#the official inflation number is far lower than what people actually experience #an extra $5 a day (assuming someone can find a job that's full time)#does next to nothing when companies are allowed to increase prices willy nilly just because they can #and once again if minimum wage was the driving factor of inflation there would have been no inflation whatsoever #it's almost like companies don't actually care about it and got addicted to covid profits #and got brazen about how they don't care about anything other than getting the c-suite/shareholders more money

Done in a very stressed hour and a half

#speculation nation #the bedroom is a front i just shoved a bunch of shit in a box and into corners so that it wasnt visible from the door #Actual bedroom unfuckening will be done later. i do want to get it genuine clean. just not now.#it really is kind of crazy having less shit Everywhere. it's good though. it's very good.#i have a killer kind of headache tho 😭#contemplating buying delivery as a reward for getting this done...#i wanted to do laundry today but that was just too much fuckin stress #oh yeah. the showing did happen but it was brief & i overheard the guide say that this unit isnt available anymore #and they sent me the lease in the email!!!#i read thru it and it's overall the same as before. aside from internet being included too. and also rent going up lol #god. rent next year will be an entire 50% more than when i first moved in. these market price increases are Insane.#but yeah i still have to actually sign it. i need to chill some first tho. and try to get rid of this fucking headache.#too much stress. too much focus. my brain does not like it lol

Anyway what's up, the apartment my roommate and I applied for said we're about $900 short of the minimum income requirement, guess I'll die ✌️

#i think... if we can get a third person with a sufficient enough income #then we could get a three bedroom apartment and qualify despite the increase in the rent price #but our current lease ends in 10 days so we really don't have a lot of options rn #because this one we applied to was also one of the cheapest ones we could find #the other option is i have two friends that i work with that will be moving together in November probably #and this apartment does have four bedroom options available #however idk if they'd want to live with my current roommate as he's... not very good at cleaning up after himself #i just put up with it basically but i know those other two wouldn't

#I think it’s fucked up #that companies don’t take in consideration rent prices #when they set up salaries #like yes I get it ppl have different experience #but at the same time ppl need to live somewhere #how are they supposed to do that if they barely get 1k per month #especially since the prices for rent increased so much the last year #it just doesn’t make any sense to me #and if you come to an interview and tell them #well I have this much experience and I need salary starting from this #it’s not bc you think you’re so cool #it’s bc you look at the prices and think about surviving #and i’m not even talking about getting some cool huge apartment #just a small studio would be enough #but even that costs a lot

"Landlord Fined $50 In Sudbury Court," Ottawa Journal. July 25, 1942. Page 5. ---- SUDBURY, Ont., July 24.-(CP) - Bernard Minden of Sudbury was fined $50 and costs by Magistrate J. S. McKessock in police court today following his conviction on a charge of increasing rentals contrary to provisions of the price ceiling order of the Wartime Prices and Trade Board. Defendants' counsel, E. C. Facer, argued that rental for the building had never been set definitely and exchange of space between Minden and his tenant, Inkster's Bakery, should be considered. The magistrate said the exchange of space did not offset the admitted $25 increase in rent.

anyone pitting trains against personal vehicles is missing a bit of info.

we ship vehicles by rail. like yeah there are semi-haulers for delivering vehicles to dealerships but those are mostly in local areas. vehicles are shipped by train all across the country, all the time.

so in theory a passenger train could also transport a person's vehicle too, in the same way a ferry hauls people and their vehicles across water. so you could take that cross country train ride and still have the comfort of your own car while you're visiting.

#obviously this would have it's own increased ticket costs #but if the price is right then it beats the wear and tear of driving huge distances #or arriving by train or plane and renting a car
