Palestinian artist Fathi Ghaben passed away yesterday at the age of 77, at Shuhada al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah, while awaiting permission from Israel to leave Gaza to receive proper medical care.
Fathi was born in the village of Hirbiyya, just outside the strip, in 1947.
Together with his family, Fathi was displaced in 1948 and ended up in Jabalya refugee camp, where he lived until his passing. Where Hirbiyya used to be, now stands Kibbutz Karmiya. Just imagine living as a refugee your whole life while your original home is just 10km away.

when I was 9 I had a friend who loved the black eyed peas and I didn't know the first thing about music so I thought they were really underground, edgy, futuristic like they were producing music straight from another galaxy. to this day I still can't see them as pop icons they're my old friend's bandcamp find with 2 listeners from outer space
#also I had to google which animal was on the album cover my friend had. I thought it was a monkey but it's an elephant lol#which makes sense since the album is called. elephunk. but 9 years old me didn't know abt that and I never checked after that lol

lolllll at my job interview last week I was like 'oh btw I noticed you said you were waiting for two ppl to send you their resume, will this be a team role? 🤗' and they were like 'lol no it actually means you have to send us the name of two of your references, we will be waiting for that asap' not my proudest moment
#which means I have to hurry to ask ppl and I couldn't prepare.... and they wrote to me today to remind me#which is nice bc it means they're taking me seriously and want my references#but bad bc I have been BUSY and didn't have any time to ask around and wait for ppl's replies abt that...#and I don't want to write anyone's names if they're not ok with it first
