Disgrace
The villain had sworn that next time Sidekick showed up in their base, they’d kill them. Strip them of their dignity and pride and humiliate them in front of their team—if not the entire world. They would torture them every single day and berate them to no end.
Villain promised that they would suffer; and now they were seated here in front of them.
Shaking like a leaf in their bonds, one foot caught and clamped in what looked like a new age bear trap, was Sidekick. Doing their best to mask the pain in their leg while attempting to seem aloof.
“So. You little heroes think that because I let you off the hook once I’ll do it again?” Villain drummed their fingers rhythmically against the metal table they lounged at. Eye to eye with their captive.
“Villain I-I swear that’s not—”
“Save your sorry excuses. I warned you, Sidekick. Yet here you are again…”
From the sidekick’s view, the villain looked almost disappointed, as if killing them was going to be a nuisance to clean up, not that killing someone would be on their conscious for life. Sidekick was going to puke or pass out, they weren’t sure. All they knew was that either their foot would be amputated by morning or their head would be.
“P-Please, Villain, I told them— I-I said that you’d kill me if they sent me in and, and they knew— They would never do this on purpose I-I swear—”
At that, Villains gaze darkened, something horrible brewing behind their eyes. Quietly, they opened the bag they had entered with, a high quality, leather satchel and in it, a computer.
They flipped the screen open and tapped away at it for a second while Sidekick contemplated begging for their life once more. But before they could open their mouth, Villain spun the computer screen around, angling it so the contents were visible to the sidekick.
It was a video.
A body-cam video. Specifically, Teammate’s body-cam—since they were the only one not in the picture besides the sidekick. A lump formed horribly in their throat, why was their team having meetings without them? How had Villain gotten the tape? Were the others here too?
Too many questions flooded the up and coming hero’s head at once, adrenaline pumping through their body and filling their lungs until they couldn’t breathe. They were having a panic attack. In front of Villain.
Gods, they were so pathetic. Hero always hated when they cried like a baby, slapping them to get them to shut up and part of them wished the villain would now too. It would at least allow them to get a hold of their spiralling and the pain would be familiar, if not comforting.
“Sidekick.” Their name cut through the haze of panic as they gasped for air. “Look at me.” Villain’s hands were on their shoulders, shaking them roughly and they winced when their foot jostled. Snapping back to reality at the pain just in time to see the villain’s worried face staring back.
Worried? They must’ve been mistaken. They were an enemy. Hero had warned them about Villain and their cruelty, they had no remorse for heroes. That included Sidekick.
Carefully, the criminal smoothed the sweaty hair from Sidekick’s face, wiping away the blood and tears that covered their cheeks with a gentle hand like none other. No one had ever touched the sidekick so kindly before, it hurt their brain to picture it was coming from the one that had threatened to skin them alive last week, and they had to refrain from leaning into the touch entirely.
Villain stepped back, catching their softness with the other, before returning to their seat. Allowing a moment of rest for the sidekick to regroup, then the villain continued.
“If your team supposedly had nothing to do with your capture, then explain this.”
They tapped the spacebar and the video jumped to a start. Volume turned loud enough to echo slightly off the concrete walls around them.
“Think about it.” Came Hero’s crackling voice over the footage, in their hand they held the device currently trapped to Sidekick’s foot. “It would get them out of our hair for at least a week. Villain wouldn’t kill them, they’re practically still a kid, Villain has stronger morals than that.”
The rest of the group looked uneasy, silence stretching for another opinion to take place.
“Sidekick said that Villain swore to kill them next time—”
“And when was the last time Sidekick was right about something? Anything for that matter. They’ve led us straight into traps “due to their miscalculations”. Besides, I’ve known Villain the longest and they wouldn’t do anything like that.”
To Sidekick’s surprise, their team looked more reassured after that statement. “It was only once…” they whispered under their breath, defending their reputation to a crowd that would never hear them.
Hero groaned at the lack of compliance from the rest of the group. “Look, just three days ago they tripped over their own feet and sprained their ankle. That cost us medical supplies and precious time, imagine we didn’t have to deal with those losses.”
The heroes began nodding in unison, weighing their options. Less and less favourable to the sidekick’s survival.
“It was an accident…” Sidekick’s voice cracked and they hated the slight pity in the look Villain gave them.
“Not only that but they’re always complaining about needing a prescription refill for their medication or whatever. Nagging constantly about not being able to go on missions without it.”
In truth, Sidekick figured it was their inhaler that was being referenced. It was expensive to buy it and the agency promised to cover it with insurance, but they hardly ever did. It was starting to cut into their food rations with how much it cost and how many times they had to use it daily on missions. But it kept them alive, without it they would die and if they kept paying for it, soon enough they wouldn’t be able to buy their basic necessities.
“I have asthma, I-I need it to go running a-and fighting on missions…” They filled the question for the curious looking villain, who raised their eyebrows slightly in response before turning back to the video.
“When they completed their task force, their average was a minute forty per challenge.” Hero paused for what could only be dramatic effect. “The average among us, you might ask? One minute. On the dot.”
A clamour of voices spilled from speakers, multiple in agreement, finally deciding to use the sidekick as their sacrificial lamb all because they were too much to handle. Not because they sucked at their job, but because the other heroes found them annoying.
Sidekick shattered. Their heart breaking into a million different pieces, throat burning, eyes stinging with a new ferocity and heart beating like a jackhammer.
Villain closed the screen and the audio was cut short, they slipped it back into their satchel and sat patiently while Sidekick sobbed. Trying and failing to hide their face as their arms were tied tightly behind their back. They wanted anything but to have to look at the villain while they cried and they were sure Villain would exploit this moment later.
They didn’t know how long it was until they quieted down, reduced to heaving sniffles and the occasional outburst. Whether it came from the pain in their foot or the pain in their heart, Sidekick had no idea, they didn’t honestly care, this was the first time they’d been able to let all their emotions out in peace and it felt incredible.
When the young hero was in enough control to only hiccup every few seconds, Villain stood up, walking around the table and over to the other as they knelt down. Sidekick flinched, body too exhausted to try and remain collected, if the villain wanted to hurt them now then so be it. The day couldn't get any worse.
But they didn’t, the criminal knelt down and delicately they untied the sidekick, from their wrists down to their good ankle. Standing back up to see the shock portrayed in Sidekick's body language as they reached for their face to wipe their tears once more.
Wordlessly, once they were done wiping the sidekick’s face, they hoisted them into their arms in an attempted bridal carry. When Sidekick whimpered and sobbed against their shoulder, Villain only shushed them sweetly, leaving the room with them in their arms as the sidekick began to cry again.
They clung to the villain like a lifeline, crying out the hidden truths behind their so-called teammates' lies. Especially Hero.
Especially their mentor.
“T-the average time f-for sidekicks is two minutes.” Weakly they squeezed the villain’s shoulder in anger. “I-I was the t-top of my class and, and, and Hero— was just j-jealous because they never were.”
Villain shushed them again, reassuring the other as they spoke.
“T-they told me every time I-I messed up that t-they would hurt me b-because I deserved it.”
“You didn’t deserve it--”
“I-I didn’t deserve it. T-they just wanted m-my performance t-to lower so I wouldn’t t-take their spot—” Sidekick seethed, "T-they whipped me, t-they beat me, they e-even w-waterboarded me, when t-they knew it was my biggest f-fear."
They wheezed, squeezing their eyes shut as they cursed under their breath at the pain in their foot. It was becoming unbearable. All to find out Hero was the one who placed it. That only made it hurt more.
"I-I was pronounced d-dead for a minute and a half-- a-all because they w-wouldn't bring my head u-up when I begged." Sidekick gasped, shaking hands prying at the villain's suit. "I b-begged for my fucking life a-and they still w-wouldn't listen--"
The criminal kicked open a new door, nothing like a cell one and took them both inside. Past hallways and storage closets until they reached an empty room with a free bed. “I know, I know. It’s okay, you’re safe now, okay?”
Sidekick shook, crying, laughing and hyperventilating all at once, it felt like their whole world was coming apart; the people they loved and cared for, everything they knew, all their training, all their hard work. Just to end up deep in the Villain's lair, an inescapable trap--placed by their own teammates--clamped on their worsening foot, an enemy comforting them and a betrayal worse than death destroying them from the inside out.

I saw someone else on here saying how Rick needs someone with a different moral compass to go with him on adventures because otherwise it'd be an echo chamber of bad decisions, and thats why he brings Morty (very outspoken against him) rather than Summer (very often outspoken against him, however very much aligns with his violent impulses)
and I agreed with that, however I wanted to add my own theory as to why he brings only Morty, which kind of goes along with theirs.
I lost their post/url so I dont know who it is who posted that, but if I find it ill reblog with a link to their post, or if one of you find it youre welcome to do that for me !!
okay, so. it seems to me that another reason Rick would take Morty most times and not usually Summer is not only because Summer is more likely to become a moral echo chamber, but because Morty is the most likely in the family to not end up another Rick.
let me explain what I mean:
Rick has witnessed the citadel and how that ended up, he's implied to have witnessed the deaths of so many people (not just Ricks) for being too confident in their smarts. he knows that his life style kind of ruins you if youre as smart as he is because you start getting to know that you are.
this won't happen with Morty.
Morty is a lot of things; resourceful, highly adaptive, good in combat (when he can be), quick on his feet and passionate. but one thing he isnt, is like Rick.
Morty gets none of his traits from Beth or Rick. he isnt inhumanely smart (in fact its canon that he's quite the opposite), he isnt predisposed to being cold and uncaring, he isnt as impulsive (he still is, just not as much), the list goes on.
not only are Summer and Beth predisposed to end up like Rick, they have, on many occasions, acted exactly how Rick would've acted in situations. and to me, it seems like that scares him.
Morty however is very different to Rick, and Rick knows that very few Mortys ever end up even a fraction of the man he is.
Mortys are not predisposed to end up cold and uncaring, in fact Mortys are predisposed to be the exact opposite. Mortys are "hardwired for forgiveness." theyre empathetic, loving, forgiving. Mortys rarely harden into the kind of person Rick is, or the kind of person Summer and Beth would be.
Morty is the obvious answer to who Rick should rely on - he'll never be bad. Morty is good at his core. at least most of them are, of course just like there's outlier Ricks (c-137 himself), there's outlier Mortys, but as a general statement, Mortys are good at their core.
kind of off topic, but I also beleive that c-137 is good at his core.
let me explain.
he is, by admission, a different kind of Rick. he wanted to stay home, to be there for the girls, he was even willing to give up his dream of science just to be there for him.
when they died, so did a part of him.
he lost the love of his life, and he lost his daughter. he lost his perfect little family.
and what did he do ? go insane trying to find the person who did this to him, and get rid of them.
the things he did on the way were kind of a "in the grand scheme of things" type of situation.
again another blog already said this (here) (hopefully that worked), but when Prime said he c-137 could've been him- he already was. he was in the exact same situation that Prime was. he offered someone infinity, and they rejected it. but instead of going the way Prime did, which was killing the people around Bird Person to force him to travel infinity anyways, he just moved on. he got upset at first and tossed some weak insults, but he moved on. because, as the above post says, its not that big of a deal. it wasn't the end of the world for him.
now, im not saying c-137 has never done anything wrong. hes done a lot of things wrong. what I am saying is he's good at his core; his goal was never and still isn't just to hurt people. his goal is revenge and in his eyes, its a ticking time bomb. anyone in his way has to be swiftly dealt with because he's running out of time.
also - of course he can't show how much he loves Morty. he doesnt know if Prime is still watching him, but he does know that the Omega Device could very well still be on operation, and he finds out he was correct in this assumption in Ultmortricken.
if he had shown his love for Morty often at all, who knows what Prime would've done with that information.

Dickinson CS RBP
As I reflect on my journey at Dickinson, I find myself in agreement with many of the goals Dickinson has set out, and the Dickinson education has prepared me very well for my future. I was able to be engaged with the wider world, participating in Putnam and CS competitions. Also, I was able to study abroad in my own country and see some landscape and culture I have not seen before.
I also started to think differently and act boldly. As I wonder and travel outside of college, I often find myself surrounded with interesting questions and situations, which I usually was able to find a way out.
My curiosity of the world increased; I appreciated everything regardless of big or small. I like exploring paths untaken and areas unexplored. Hopefully, my passion for exploring such curiosity persists.
There have been many decision points during my time at Dickinson: choosing majors, taking classes, joining teams, or socializing. I was able to not fear the risks at hand and take actions firmly towards my beliefs.
Critical thinking was another valuable experience I learned from my Dickinson education. Regardless of whether in class or in the field, I often see things through different lenses and understanding concepts from additional angles.
Stepping out into the real world and making a difference is daunting, but the education at Dickinson has prepared me well. I am unafraid to be different from others and stepping out whenever I think there needs to be a change.
Independence is key throughout my time at Dickinson. I had to attempt many different things by myself. Regardless if it was trying out a new class from a different major, performing at a concert, moving out in the summer, or making lifetime decisions, I was able to act confidently alone.
Besides the theoretical aspect of learning, I often participate in real-world activities and take a hands-on approach. I believe it helps me to learn much better and quicker and deepen my understanding of how things work. Theory is beautiful but is the prettiest when taken into the real world.
With the liberal arts education, I was able to master my problem-solving in multiple disciplines. Having taken classes not only from my major has let me deepen my understanding for a wider range of the disciplines and connect the knowledge to further my understanding.
The graduate career ahead of me is daunting but I am ready to make a difference in the world, and I believe that the education has prepared me for a career in academia. I am confident a Ph.D. will be a new and thrilling experience for the next five years of my life. Becoming a Dr. is horrifying, but I am ready for whatever that comes.
As a computer science major, I must talk about my experience in the curriculum. Starting from Data Structure, my intro to computer science, I made my way up to algorithms, and then computational complexity and computability. They were not only interesting but also educational and built my confidence for my academic career ahead. I also took a wide range of side classes such as operation research, number theory, and piano, which were my favorites as well.
The courses not only taught concepts and theories of how to build algorithms, but also familiarized me with recognizing, designing, applying, and implementing these algorithms in complex computing systems. I have the capability to take any job and learn what I need for the job in a short amount of time.
Although I am not pursuing any industry job, I do want to mention the technical aspect that the Dickinson education brings. Given my internship experiences, I find this knowledge applicable, adaptable, and relevant to contemporary computing infrastructure. The COMP 190 and 290 are exceptional examples of that. However, personally, I liked the operation research class and how we used to optimize to solve real-world problems.
As often as I preferred working alone, I did develop a strong teamwork ability at my time in Dickinson. Often times I have to take up the leadership role, which I am comfortable taking with the various leadership positions I took at Dickinson. It allows me to understand how teams collaborate and how to make people work efficiently and effectively. My leadership experience also expands outside of the computer science and math curriculum. My leadership experience in the culture club, department club, and student senate helped me to see clearer how the campus is run and the effort needed. Dickinson is a great place for learning about leadership and becoming someone you weren’t.
Besides leading the team, I also collaborate with others often. Communication with others is often difficult and complicated as misunderstanding is common. However, with the amount of experience I accumulated in Dickinson collaborating with different people in different settings, I am confident that I can apply such teamwork skill to other situations and make the team better.
It is rare for computer science or math students to have many opportunities in presenting themselves orally or in writing. However, Dickinson is different. I had many opportunities to present myself in different situations whether they are class, ceremony, speech, or presentation. I like the ability to be able to stand up and give a speech or presentation with confidence. The computer science major also enforces many writing opportunities that let us practice our ability to express ourselves in writing.
Nowadays, not only understanding how to code is important, but also the social, legal, and ethical issues behind computing. Writing an AI algorithm is much easier these days, but also comes with many problems. Many unnoticed biases and racism might be behind the algorithm that needs much more understanding of the issue to notice. Dickinson is aware and provides such opportunities through senior seminar which let us discuss and understand contemporary issues to become more than just a coder.
Computer science also involves creating commercial values and advancing human technology. I hope that I will be able to be at the frontier of human science and bring change to the human world without fear of risks and in a way that considers social impacts, which I believe the Dickinson education has prepared me well for.

LOG 3202:11;62
Tumblr media
In the midst of the commotion, Cyborg and Lemon had to watch the royal crowning that took place on Planet Bluestar, albeit from different angles. Cyborg was tapping their feet on the ground and looking around anxiously for something to happen. They couldn't bear to see their Knighty in such a position. After all, Knight had confided in them previously about his past, something that he never opened up about to other people.
Cyborg remembered his words. He had been a runaway child with his sister, White Choco, after their original kingdom had been attacked after they both refused an arranged marriage. Oh, how it made Cy's blood boil. Knight was being forced into the thing that he fled from, only this time it was an intergalactic space cookie that had no respect for him as a person.
Cyborg tried kicking the soldiers who were watching them diligently so they could get closer to Knight. Just so they could do something to get him out of this situation, but they couldn't. They weren't strong enough by themself. Of course, Lemon was a goody-goody when it came to Aloe, so Cy couldn't ask him to help. What happened in the time between Aloe trying to take over the kingdom and now? It just confused them to no end.
On the other side, Lemon had been watching with his arms crossed. His poker-face was unwavering as he was scoping out all the different types of characters that were here. He took a couple of glances towards Aloe before looking away.
Later, he was going to investigate the city. With Aloe's permission, he was given free reign to explore what the planet had to offer, as well as the various commodities that V-classes were given, which extended to him as a guest of Aloe. He wondered why Aloe wasn't changing into their NeoAzullian appearance. Doesn't that make them stand out? Lemon already stood out as much as he did. His yellow hair wasn't exactly camouflage against a planet that was mostly a monochromatic blue.
Starflower had dismissed the group and took a breath. Lemon had noticed he had looked a bit tense earlier. Something to him didn't seem right to him.
Aloe tapped Lemon's shoulder gently in order to not startle him.
“Why don't you head into town for a while? I know you're not very fond of large crowds such as this one.”
The android perked up. He had been waiting to leave this place as fast as he could.
“Don't worry, I'll make sure Cyborg doesn't get into trouble. I have matters I need to discuss with the king.”
“I wasn't even worried about them,” Lemon silently scoffed. Cyborg was the least of his concerns, but Aloe just chuckled at him amusedly.
Aloe pat Lemon on the shoulder pad before walking away, “If I need you, I'll send you a transmission. Shouldn't be too hard to pinpoint you in a crowd.”
Cyborg could be heard in the distance from all the way where Lemon was standing. They were struggling and cussing out the soldiers who were taking them back to a cell. Presumably, the prison was near the palace since Aloe had been walking in that direction.
The crowd dispersed, along with Cyborg being put away, leaving Lemon alone in the middle of a quiet plaza with a clear view of Z.Starflower's palace.
It felt weird to him.

I started doing a full re-listen to King Falls AM last month and I am almost finished, I just wanted to ask, am I the only one who is disturbed by the way that Jacob Williams sexually harasses other men and no one says anything about it? The episode where Troy has both Jacob and the Dark in the back of his car, the Dark is begging move to the front seat to get away from Jacob and no one says anything? Meanwhile, if Chet or Lily say anything about Emily, Ben and Sammy immediately say something. It was just really uncomfortable to listen to everyone ignore serial harasser Jacob Williams.
No... no you are not. My friend and I were both grossed out by this. I think what makes it worse is it plays into the harmful stereotype that bisexual people are sexually promiscuous. Straight and gay relationships are played somewhat seriously and then the one bisexual character is a big joke. It's... not amazing.
I feel like if it was just Jacob and his beau being super sexual to each other and there being other bi representation it might be better. Because I will admit, The Dirt is fucking hilarious. But the sexual harassment? Not so much.
