higgs: squash blossom, lenten rose, winter aconite, day lily, red twig dogwood. i like squash blossom for being associated with food, especially something hearty + versatile like squash. lenten rose + winter aconite are winter blooming for her time on europa, day lilies for their short lives, red twig dogwood grows in wet environments and looks striking in winter and spring, for her time on titan and her various stages of life!!
june: wild blueberry, almond blossoms, coreopsis, queen of the prairie, lupine, goats beard. mostly wildflowers! i think i have less actual meanings for these, but despite everything else she’s got going on june is a true hunter at heart and loves exploring distant wilderness - this is a bouquet of the types of plants she would stop next to trail to marvel at in little private moments. i think truly nothing would make her happier than wandering through some forest on some beautiful day and eating handfuls of wild blueberries from the bushes she’s walking past.
samira: angels trumpet, california poppy, rose hips, yarrow, magnolia, water hyacinths. the poppy is for an old version of her character, she was named poppyseed for the longest time. she gets a couple things that are medicinal/edible (she’s not a healer by any means, but it reflects her survivalism and hardiness). magnolia for being an ancient plant, water hyacinths for their tendency to grow quickly and choke waterways (more reflective of her role in the story than her role in the world. she can’t stop getting in her own way!)

i JUST!!!!!!!!!!! love them so much i think ive already made some posts about them before and if i wasn't lazy i would link them AKSDJH but like TL;DR they met in highschool and became best friends instantly, Josiah came out to Mal (genderfluid, They/She/Her/Any) and they became even closer (went to prom together!!!!) before Jo moved away - they reconnect after like 10 years and immediately fall back into a very close friendship/romance/not quite a relationship while Mal figures himself out + heals from some shit. Now they're married :)

Mathuin considers themself to be pretty level-headed and tactful, and will often bite their tongue in order to keep the peace. Their first instinct is always to strive for compromise or to take the high road... however, there is a limit to their patience, and it's often lower than they would like it to be.
They lose their cool quickly when faced with an abrasive personality, or a stressful problem. After holding in so much frustration, the result is that all their anger tends to burst out at once! They find it pretty exasperating to lose control like that.

been listening to running up that hill because its the only song that comes up on my recommended atm and thinking a lot about how many otomes deal with the overall arc of: love prevails above all ( in the best endings, at least ). otomes arent the best to handle it, but truthfully there is something beautiful in the way of two people helping each other grow despite their flaws and whatever their lives continue to throw at the both of them, but at the same time have this ability to take steps back when needbe and allow each other to grow as their own people.
when i describe wishing to write complicated dynamics, this is the sort of thing i mean. theres something so beautiful in a dynamic of two characters who want to do their best to help each other, or try to help each other in their own ways despite how good or how bad those actions will be in the meantime ---- they just wish to be that support, that one last push for one another. no relationships going to be all smooth sailing, and it’s the times where things are tense, where people doubt the other, the ugly that comes after the honeymoon period that surely enraptures something of a beautiful dynamic when used right.
