TW: Abuse, drugs, emetophobia and (Implied) infanticide (it’s gonna end happily I swear)
Sorry this is much more darker than usual and it should NOT be this dark for a film abt singing Trolls with rainbow hair. But I have dark thoughts and project them onto my kins and comfort characters.
So anyways, as far as I know, Floyd has no story abt what was going on while he was gone (if he does, the novelization never said it).
So… Floyd is known to love rock music (as shown on the BroZone website) so I had a thought that maybe he found some rock trolls outside of Volcano Rock City and he met one that was a goddamn S N A K E.
He hurt him badly, did unspeakable things and Floyd managed to run away to safety… until he got kidnapped by Velvet and Veneer.
So the story with these: After learning abt different genres becoming friends, Floyd was calm… until a certain rock troll shows up. The troll harasses Branch even when he says no to him and safe to say Floyd is triggered and he knocks that fucker on his ass. JD and Branch pull him away and ask what was up bc Floyd is NEVER violent unless there was a good reason. And Floyd explains it all. They are HORRIFIED by the stuff he tells them and they thirst for blood.
And they may or may not have erased the horrible troll’s entire existence on behalf of Floyd with help from Barb. Once the deed is done Barb claims the troll never existed… ROCK TROLLS DON’T LET SHIT SLIDE.
What happens in the future is up to you. But just know Floyd is happier.

“paimon wants to try some yummy fontaine cuisine when we get there! ooh, maybe we can go sightseeing too!” the floating companion chirped, doing somersaults in the air alongside you and aether.
aether sighed in slight exasperation at her statement while you tried to stifle a laugh, your hand drifting to your mouth as you nodded at her words. “i’d love to eat some yummy fontaine food with you paimon. we just need to take the aquabus to the court of fontaine first.”
at the mention of eating ( and possibly free ) food, it seemed that paimon had suddenly been jolted, zooming towards the docking aqua bus. “yippee! what are you slowpokes waiting for?”
which left you and aether behind to pick up the pace, the tired blonde traveler shooting you a small smile which you tried to return though it didn’t meet your eyes. ever since you both had left mondstadt with venti’s blessings of finding the seven, it wasn’t that uncommon to find yourselves exhausted or worse for wear. especially since the battles you were facing ahead proved to be more perilous and tough than previous fights.
travelling to fontaine the nation of justice, you hoped that this cycle of laborious tasks would come to an end and you’d finally get some time to unwind. fontaine was the nation of justice…or love, some would like to say.
“i didn’t know that fontaine had a lot of people.” you murmur lowly, clinging to aether’s arm in an attempt to stay close to him. he shot up at your sudden touch, clearing his throat awkwardly before nodding. “maybe they’re just searching for something more.”
reaching the steps of the aquabus, he offered his hand to you, a sly smile on his face. “mon coeur?”
“i didn’t know you spoke fontainan.” you pouted, eyeing him warily as you took his hand gingerly. wandering the empty bus, your eyes drifted its interior to find paimon hounding the poor melusine conductor about fontaine’s delicacies.
“i don’t, i picked it up from lyney.” he shrugged nonchalantly, finding your annoyed expression amusing. you’re about to bite back a snarky reply until the bus started moving, causing the both of you to fall into each other’s arms, nearly toppling over the railing. perhaps the conductor was supposed to make an announcement before moving so suddenly…you were about to glare at the melusine but all you saw was paimon with a mischievous smirk on her face, one that could rival klee’s when she decided to go fish-blasting.
“you okay?” aether’s voice rung out which brought you back to reality, slightly crackly and squeaky, the kind when he was nervous or flustered. you turn your head back to him only to realise that you’re both so close that you could feel your breath on each other’s cheeks, your palm over his quickly rising and falling chest. the second hand embarrassment crept into your face as you recoiled almost instantly from him, the both of you trying to act as if nothing happened.
“hey look, it’s the court of fontaine!” paimon chirped out excitedly, thankfully breaking the awkward silence between the both of you with her hollering.
you’d heard how beautiful the city of fontaine was. how the sunlight hit the opera epiclese, the overall whimsical atmosphere that felt like you were living through a steampunk novel, the smell of morning dew on fresh rainbow roses. but nothing could compare to how ethereal he looked in front of it all.
the way aether’s face contorted to awe and disbelief, a genuine grin that you’d miss seeing after so long blooming on his face at the sight of the city. the dazzling lights were bright, like shimmering stars dancing across the night sky but they never blinded you.
half-dazed walking down the aquabus, all you could see was his smile etched in your memory like a stained glass painting. an mesmerising and majestic piece of art, the kind that people used to worship archons with.
“name!” aether called out to you from across the fountain of lucine, eyes twinkling with childlike excitement. trying to compose yourself from the internal screeching in your head, you couldn’t help but be curious and slightly apprehensive of what he wanted from you. paimon was no where in sight…how odd.
the sounds of fontaine were beautiful. a scene out of a ballet piece, like living straight out of an opera. your eyes widened as you followed aether’s gaze to the streams of water from the water fountain, completely in sync with the background music. it was a new soundtrack and you could just dance to the beat, the rhythm that intertwined with your soul.
it was like he read your mind, the blonde traveler grinning as he bowed to you in the empty plaza, a gloved palm outstretched in front of you. “may i have this dance?”
you tried to calm your rising nerves, taking his hand with a nervous beam. though his hands were on your waist, it felt like he held your beating heart in his hands, not that he knew off.
was this what love felt like? something that kept you second guessing yourself in fear of making a bad decision? something that would never change no matter how long you’ve known him, that same feeling of crystalflies in your stomach despite the fact that you’ve been travelling together for quite some time? something that drove you crazy, not sure whether you were going mad, a disease with symptoms that caused you to only think of aether? but you knew that you wouldn’t change anything.
maybe one day you’d muster the courage to tell him how much you felt but now you’d indulge yourself in this feeling of being in his arms, dancing to the soundtrack of this foreign city.

some thoughts for the other fontaine proposals!
sparring with clorinde, who of course promises to take it easy on you because how could she ever dare to harm a single hair on your sweet, pretty head? but as you lunge and attempt to strike her with what you believe is a winning blow, she evades in a skillful whirl of grace and dexterity and kneels down while you're still breathless and reeling from the spar! with earnest eyes, she asks you to be her wife 🥺 or, alternatively, something to do with makeup...
chevreuse proposing with a ring in a detective novel she lent you, perhaps with annotations! or maybe bringing you to investigate a fake case she designed to get you to examine clues with her, only to propose to you at the end :>
lynette who promises to perform a special show for you, only to pull a ring box out of her hat and disappear behind her coat, only to be kneeling before you with the ring box open! (lyney is watching and cheering his sister on btw, and they may have tasked freminet with taking pictures)
chiori just straight up taking your measurements and drafting a wedding dress for you! but reader going ??? i'm not getting married haha until you feel something peculiar sewn into the dress, and realise it's a wedding band which chiori proposes to you with!
arlecchino proposing would be an affair all its own—a lord harbinger getting down on her knees for you, of all people? but arle would take no shame in it, and she knows there's plenty space for you in her life and in her heart. i think arlecchino would plan a whole day's worth of activities, taking you out for a tea date, renting out the whole of hotel debord so you would be undisturbed, going for a walk with you outside of the city perhaps in a field of rainbow roses. maybe she takes you to the fountainnof lucille, which, you notice, is strangely absent of visitors; you make a wish by throwing some mora into the fountain, and when you turn around arlecchino is kneeling with her ring box, asking you to marry her :>
despite how crazy i know the sex is with arlecchino, i'd love to think of her as relatively chivalric with the proposal, but that's just me being gay ahsjdhwj
CLORINDE DOING A WHOLE DUEL WITH YOU, ONLY TO END UP ON HER KNEES?? OHMYGOODNESS I AM SWOONING 😳
I think out of all of these, Lynette and Clorinde are my favorites. Just the thought of Clorinde swiftly dodging your attack, forcing you to turn around only to see her on her knees with a ring box in her hand. Since I’m imagining you two are fencing against each other, you jab the tip of your sword against her body and “win” but the moment you see the ring box, your breath is taken away as you realized that while you may have won the duel, Clorinde has won your heart ❤️
With Lynette, I’m giggling at the idea of her magically whipping a ring from thin air and making it appear on your finger. She’d be distracting you with magic tricks like doves out of her hat, a bouquet of roses from the hole of your shirt, but these are all mere distractions as Lynette has successfully slipped a metal ring on top of your finger without you noticing. Her gently tilting your head down so you could see the surprise “trick” she just did without you knowing, before carefully tucking one of the roses from the bouquet into your hair 🥺
Also, Arlecchino going all out to propose to her partner is so romantic. Chiori, Chevreuse, just all the Fontaine women in general would be so smooth with their proposals, I can’t help but swoon…
Leave it to Fontaine women to take your breath away~ 💕

Hi P'ABL. Not sure if you have answered something like this before, I couldn't find it with search, but what are your favorite "Oh" scenes? Either "Oh I'm (or he's) gay" or "Oh I'm in love with this person". Asking this question after rewatching Ep 4 of Bad Buddy and watching Qian's reaction to seeing BL novels in Zhi Yuan's room.
Light Bulb Moments in BL!
Ooooh, good question. And no I haven't answered it before. You mean specifically the viewer coming to this realization?
My Favorite: Oh HE V GAY!
Tumblr media
Takara just looking at Amagi.
A reading K's mind in the elevator in either Cherry Magic.
The New Employee at the dinner party across the table from the boss with the two queers being like: "Us? Dating? Are you cray, we hella rainbow."
This moment in Jun & Jun:
Tumblr media
And then the "not instantly moving away" utterly flirtatious response.
City boy finding the hot farmer's little box of Pride on the shelf in Some More
To My Star - surprise robe flashing moment (I also love Addicted's execution of this one but it doesn't count as an ah-ha moment, just a big fat tease - pun intended)
This character's admission in Nobleman Ryu's Wedding:
Tumblr media
MinSung on that train with the earbuds in Wish You.
Tumblr media
Solo walking into that cafe in Oxygen.
Fighter meeting Tutor in Why R U?
Tumblr media
Step by Step at the gay club, I mean FINALLY.
I'll just call him my wife in SOTUS.
This scene in I Feel You Linger in the Air:
Tumblr media
My Favorite: Oh I'm in love with him
Eternal Yesterday, that damn look in the rain, holly hell (the cool thing about this one is ... it's mutual)
Aoki climbing into the plastic bag in My Love Mix-Up - I mean, COME ON, how gay is that? "oh no! I'm into love with him, I am trash, must be ultra dramatic about it"
Tumblr media
Unintentional Love Story the agony of realizing he's in love with someone he has to deceive and betray - those EYES
Tumblr media
Mark running after the Taxi in Love is Science?
Ai's "what is going on" in Love By Chance
Tumblr media
Pete's AH HA moment in Kiss Me Again
Pretty much most of Love Sick. It's kinda the point of the show. But you can never get away from this one:
Tumblr media
Possibly one of the most iconic moments in all BL.
Anytime the character starts swearing and is mad at himself when he realizes he is in love: Semantic Error, The Eclipse.
Pretty much all 3 leads swapping both of these "ah ha" moments back and forth in Light On Me
Honorable mention: Someone ELSE in the story's "oh HE'S in love with him?!"
Tumblr media
PitchBank, need I say more? (Golden Blood)
Takara's bestie just focused in on Takara's actions around Amagi for the whole day at school and then being like, "Oh I was teasing them but my friend is IN LOVE. Activate WINGMAN mode."
Are we surprised Suzuki Jin appears twice on this list?
Tumblr media
Also no shocker this list is full of JBL, they very good at this kind of thing since a lot of it is eye work and thirst.

Not used to posting things so fast- But the brain worms have infected me and @auspicioustidings concepts give me life. Once again- another from them, i felt contractually obligated to write this because my auntie is in Vegas for her birthday right now.
The concept in question
Not the after effects of waking up- but rather the proposal itself. This one’s short cause i pumped it out real quick. Just a little dabble.
————————
Ah Vegas. City of love. Wait no that was Paris- city of… sin? Well that sounded too much like a trashy YA romance novel for your tastes so- Vegas, City of…
Vegas: City!
God maybe you should lay off the M and M’s. Lavender and Bright cyan blue little things from the M and M factory are making you really taste the rainbow. Shit that was skittles catchphrase wasn’t it? Actually- did M and M’s even have a catchphrase other than the sexy brown M and M? Though that was less a phrase more a person. Er- candy. Chocolate.
Pah! You should have never gone to the M and M factory. Stupid little chocolate candy is making you think far more than you can handle right now.
Seriously it’s messing with your head. You’d better get rid of them.
You throw your M and M factory bag onto the floor, watching all the candies scatter the pavement in an explosion of color. That's why the pretty colors are so dangerous and not sold in the normal packs. They make people all loopy. Cause there’s no other reason you would be so outta sorts.
Except maybe the daiquiri you’d had. And the Manhattan. And those shots. And whatever that weird drink in a glowing lightbulb was.
Okay maybe it wasn’t the M and M’s.
Which means you just threw them out for nothing oh no! 20 dollars down the drain. And your M and M’s!
You whine mournfully over the loss, sinking to the ground dramatically and cradling one of the cyan shelled candies close.
“Is everything all… right?”
You barely register the voice- British and a bit rugged- before you are drunkenly rambling out-
“No- i thought my M and M’s were evil but they weren’t and i killed them for nothing!” You cry out, the words making you even more emotional, you pathetically sob, holding the cyan candy in your palms to your chest.
“Come back! Liveee please. Papa didn’t mean it i swear, i didn’t know what i was saying- you got me all tongue tied!”
“Hey-“
Oh british man has a very nice voice, so smooth and gentle, more than you were expecting.
“It’s alright love. We can get you some more candies.”
You sniffle.
“R-really?”
He smiles like some sort of teddy bear. Gentle and soft.
“Yes really. Just gotta get you back to wherever you’re stayin at first. It’s dangerous for a pretty girl to be on the street like this.”
You nod sollumly. “For the m and m’s yeah. Hard shells- but thin. Can’t be carrying em’ out in the cold. Poor little fellows can’t stand it.”
“Think you should be worrying about yourself first love.”
He really does look a teddy bear when he smiles. A very warm and cuddly teddy bear. Very warm. And you are oh so cold. Maybe…
“…maybe i’m and M and M.”
You mumble with a little frown, looking away from his oh so pretty eyes to instead stare at the cracked M and M in your hand.
He chuckles, it’s a nice sound.
“Com’re lovely. You’re shiverin.”
He held you up and you cling to him naturally. To your disappointment and utter display he is not as soft as a Teddy bear. Such false advertising. When you burry your head in his chest, while warm and soothing- it is firm with muscle. Hard just like his arms and co-
“Not exactly what i meant by that sweetheart.”
He’s pushing you away! Away from the warmth.
“No, I'm an M and M- gotta be warm or else I'll crack! Do you want me to die?”You whine out trying to stay close but he’s very strong, holding you firmly away from his toned chest.
(And raging boner. Not that you noticed it.)
“I know, I know- here. I’ll give you my coat.”
He wraps you up in his thick but soft coat and you relax immediately, snuggling into the fabric. With your eyes closed you hear the rumble of his chuckle.
“There’s a girl. Nice and warm now?”
You nod, making a drowsy and soft little “Yup.”
“Good. Now come’on. You know where's your hotel at?”
“Huh? We can’t go there! We gotta get more M and M’s first. Silly.”
“Right, course. Silly me.”
You giggle a bit hysterical. He agrees with you so easily, letting you link arms with him and walking you to the M and M factory. He’s so silly. With his cozy coat and koala-esc smile and pretty eyes and rumbly voice and-
“I think m’ in love with you.” You slur out, gazing at him with half lidded eyes.
“Shouldn’t say stuff like that sweetheart. Might give a guy ideas.”
Ah Ideas, you’ve got a lot of ideas. So many fun ones- but mostly one that you blurt out after he gently pushed your hand away when you tried to pay for your new M and M’s.
“I think I wanna kiss you.”
Price pauses as he tugs you outside the shop. Looks down at you, clinging to his arm, wrapped up in his coat; with the sweetest face and clearly wasted out of your mind. Price isn’t a good man. A good man would have called you a cab to get you back to your hotel. Would have asked if you had any friends to get you there. Would have gently told you to go to the stupid M and M factory another time.
He’s not a good man but even Price isn’t fucked up enough to take advantage of a pretty drunk girl. Even if his self control is wilting the more time he spends around the mess that is you.
He shakes his head with a little sigh, leaning down close to you and mumbling.
“S’ not a good idea to kiss strangers love.”
“So then marry me and we won’t be strangers.”
…Self control John. Self control.
“Will you marry me please?”
You plead with the teddy bear man, he’s just so cozy and pretty you can’t help it. You wanna kiss him soooo bad but he’s right you can’t kiss a stranger! But if he was your husband then it would be perfectly acceptable. And you are an ordained minister technically so it all works out!
Price looks at you, your pleading eyes, your softness, you wrapped up in his coat and clinging to his arm. Pretty little thing.
…He deserves to let his self control slip just this once right?

Chapter 13 - Revelations
Tumblr media
As Y/N grows closer to Lucifer, he reveals what the hands of fate have in store.
(1.6k)
The heavy rain pounds against the colorful windows, the peaceful sound fills the otherwise silent room, occasionally interrupted by the deafening clap of thunder. The droplets of water race down the colorful depictions of the fall and rise of Lucifer, displayed in the stained glass windows, giving it an almost theatrical effect.
I stare out one of the few clear panes of glass, cozied in a comfy chair I had dragged into place. The view of the towering pine trees outside is distorted by the downpour and thick fog looming around. The sun is nowhere to be seen, the world only illuminated by the occasional flash of lightning.
Sighing, I turn my attention back to the task at hand, rereading my favorite cheesy romance novel for the 14th time, never growing tired of it. I lose myself in the story of a girl from the city running into a creature of the night. She starts out frightened of the vampire, scared of what she’s capable of, but learns to see through her tough shell and love the woman beneath the fangs and mystery. I hum quietly, chewing on a strand of hair as I meticulously scan every word on the page, despite having them memorized already.
“I’m so booored,” Lucifer whines, stepping out of the shadows and leaning over the tall satin chair I reside in.
“And what would you like me to do about that?” I keep my eyes fixed on the book, not sparing him even a passing glance, but I can still feel him pouting behind me.
“Let’s go do something,” he suggests, leaning down to wrap his arms around my chest.
“Like what?” I gaze at him from the corner of my eye.
He gestures out the window, wordlessly planting the idea of going outside.
“It’s raining Luce.” I put my book down to look at him, giving him the attention he so badly craves.
“You say that like it's a problem.” He grins, holding me even tighter.
Without a moment to think, the world spins once again and I find myself in a completely different location. I grab onto his arms to hold myself up, my knees ready to buckle under my weight at any second. I keep my eyes scrunched closed until the dizziness wears off and the world feels stable.
“You have to stop doing that!” I growl, shoving him with annoyance, but he doesn’t even budge. Fully preparing myself for the torrential downpour of rain, I instinctively fold my wings over my head to provide what little shelter I can, but nothing comes.
He rolls his eyes, then looks at me eagerly like he’s waiting for my reaction.
The sound of birds chirping draws my attention and I lower my wings to take in my surroundings. I find myself in a stunning garden that goes on as far as the eye can see, unlike anything I've ever experienced. The world is painted vibrant shades of greens, blues and pinks, the color so intense that it feels like I'm looking through an enhanced filter. The sky, a pale blue with dozens of fluffy clouds and a shining rainbow.
The grass is perfectly manicured with little drops of dew from the rain clinging to each blade. Little bee’s buzz in harmony, hard at work pollinating each wildflower sprung from the ground.
A little stream runs down the hills, twisting and winding for miles. The water is so clear that you can see each tumbled rock fitting together like pieces of a puzzle. The sound of water rapidly flowing fills the air and perched on mossy rocks along the bank are little green and brown frogs, lounging without a care in the world.
Hundreds of cherry blossoms fill the orchard in full bloom, the fragrant aroma taking over my senses. But in the middle of it all is one tree that looms taller than the rest. It's old, dating back at least a century. The branches twist and turn, similar to the body of a snake. And hanging from the lowest branch is one bright, shiny red apple.
“Where the fuck am I?” I ask, feeling a sense of confusion and wonder.
“It’s a garden I made for you.”
I slowly spin on my heels, admiring the beauty around me. He’s thoughtfully selected all of my favorite flowers, each one bringing back a distinct, pleasant memory. It takes my breath away.
He nervously rubs the back of his neck, suddenly feeling self conscious.  “Maybe it’s a bit mu-”
“No!” I interrupt him, “It’s beautiful.” I smile.
“I’m glad you like it,” he says, his doubt melting away in a matter of seconds, replaced by pride. His wings perk up and a satisfied grin tugs at his lips. “Come,” he grabs my hand, intertwining our fingers and pulling me along.
The soft grass squishes beneath my boots as I follow close behind, a soft breeze flows through my hair.
He stops us at the apple tree that stands next to the creek, and sitting in its shade is a checkered red blanket, and a woven picnic basket. It’s like a scene out of a fairy tale.
“A picnic?” I raise my brow skeptically. I never imagined Lucifer to be the picnicking type.
He sits down on the blanket and pats it twice, gesturing for me to sit by his side.
I perch down next to him, tucking my wings behind my back and our knees touch ever so slightly. Just that one innocent little touch feels so intimate.
He pulls out two fancy crystal glasses, dipping them into the creek by our side and filling them with the clear water.
“Creek water? I think I'll pass,” I scoff.
He looks at me amused, like he knows something I don’t. With a snap of his fingers, the water turns into a rich amber color I could recognise anywhere. He hands me the glass with a pleased smirk.
“Cool party trick.” I admire the glass in amazement. “Taking notes from The Bible, are we?” I tease.
“Please,” he scoffs. “That dickwad learned it from me.”
I chuckle at the thought. I take a sip and my eyes light up as the familiar taste of Jack Daniels Whiskey burns my throat. “Mmm… You remembered,” I smile.
“I always do.” He wraps his wing around my shoulders.
“Lucifer?” I ask, nervously toying with his mesmerizing flight feathers.
“Hm?”
“Why am I here? I mean, why me? What makes me so special?” I scooch closer, patiently waiting for his answer.
“Because.” He effortlessly pulls me into his lap, wrapping his broad arms around me, “You’re my soulmate.”
“What?” My eyes widen and snap up to meet his.
“You were made for me Y/N,” he coos, holding my chin in his hand. His eyes lovingly gaze into mine. “A gift from my dad, a little peace offering of sorts.”
“That’s not possible…” I shake my head, unable to process the information being thrown at me. My hands shake, a myriad of thoughts and emotions bouncing around my brain.
“You feel the connection between us, the force that pulls us together, even when we're apart. The way our lives have always led to this moment.” He places a soft kiss on my cheek.
I sit in silence, stunned.
“You know it to be true,” he whispers in my ear.
“I don’t understand,” I murmur.
“Why do you think you dream of me every night? We’re bonded together, our fates intertwined for the rest of time.” He caresses my cheek ever so slightly.
“Luce…” my voice quivers.
“You feel that?” He asks, pulling me into his chest and I can feel the buzz of electricity stronger than ever.
“There’s a reason I shared my grace with you,” his cold tingly grace intertwines with mine that burns hot, creating a pleasant mix of sensations.
I stare up at him, too shocked to even blink. I’m finally getting the answers I so desperately craved, but nothing could have prepared me for this.
“Human lives are so fleeting and the thought of being without you ever again kills me,” his voice breaks, emotions getting the best of him.
“We’re destined to be together,” he pauses, “forever.”
The words play over in my head countless times, struggling to form some kind of response.
Images of my time with Dean flash across my mind, the way he held me when I needed him the most, the nights he slept by my side and held me dear, and the yearning I feel whenever I think of him. I can’t stop the feeling of guilt that burns in my stomach, like I’m betraying him, despite never even discussing any sort of relationship. I have feelings for Dean, that I'm certain of. But I can’t deny the chemistry I feel with Lucifer, the way every moment together feels so natural.
“This is a lot to take in Luce.” I rest my head against his shoulder, feeling conflicted and overwhelmed.
“I know love.” He places a kiss on the top of my head. “Take your time, we have an eternity awaiting us.”
I nod my head and take a long swig of whiskey until the glass is nearly empty. The alcohol always did help me think. We sit in comfortable silence for what must’ve been hours. I close my eyes and listen to the sound of the birds chirping and water flowing, my breathing becoming steadier. The warmth of the sun shines on my face, lulling me into a sense of relaxation. I mindlessly curl up in his lap and snuggle into his chest as the peaceful hands of sleep pull me close. The last thing I can remember is the feeling of his large silky wings wrapping around us providing me a sense of safety. And just like that, I drift off into peaceful dreams.

This… out of curiosity
Do you know the different meanings of the name of Cinderella's Stepsisters?
Charles Perrault's Cendrillon
Javotte: A nickname for Geneviève, which means "of the race of woman," "woman of the family," or "white wave."
(Perrault only reveals the older stepsister's name in one scene, not the younger one's.)
Rossini's opera La Cenerentola
Clorinda: “Youthful” or “greenery.”
Tisbe: Unknown; it’s a name from Greek mythology.
Massenet's opera Cendrillon
Noémie: “Pleasantness.”
Dorothée: “Gift from God.”
The 1947 Russian film
Anna: “Grace” or “favor.”
Marianna: A cross between Mary, meaning “bitter,” “drop of the sea,” or “beloved,” and Anna (see above).
The Let's Pretend radio adaptation
Flora: “Flower.”
Isabella: A form of Elizabeth, meaning “My God is an oath.”
The Disney version, animated and live action
Anastasia: “Resurrection.”
Drizella: Probably a variant of Drusilla, meaning “little strong one.”
The 1955 film The Glass Slipper
Birdena: “Little bird.”
Serafina: “Fiery one.”
The 1957 version of Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical
Portia: “Pig.”
Joy: Self-evident.
The 1965 version of Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical
Prunella: “Little plum.”
Esmeralda: “Emerald.”
The Muppets' Hey, Cinderella!
Mona: “My lady.”
Lisa: Derived from Elizabeth, meaning “my God is an oath.”
Rankin/Bass's Festival of Family Classics
Fatima: “To abstain” (though it serves as a play on “fat,” because she is fat)
Leania: Probably derived from Helen, meaning “light” (though it serves as a play on “lean” because she’s scrawny)

I think it's very funny how I hear so many people say "if only we could have a game with Engage's gameplay with 3H's level of writing we could have a perfect game" because we already had a FE game with 3H's level of writing long before 3H came out... and that's Fates.
I kid you not. 3H and Fates have the exact same writing flaws when it comes to the story and the worldbuilding. And that's that it was waaay too ambitious for its own good.
I mean, Fates orginal script was literaly so big it was massive novel trimmered down for video game format as for 3H's well...
Tumblr media
10 freaking thousand years of worldbuilding for a video game story.
See the problem ??? That's something you do for a novel not a video game !!!
The main reason why stories in video games tries to stay simple is because they are aware of the medium they are dealing with !!! Fates and 3H are both game that are very, very long. Do you have any idea how long they would be if they went fully into developping all of the worldbuilding and lore they were supposed to have ?
That's the problem with big worldbuilding. As ambitious as it is it comes with the downside of requiring a lot of screen time to make every bits of it story relevant in a way or another and to flesh it out well. Do Fates and 3H do it well ? Well, Fates is a tought subject seeing how the localization removed a lot of its worldbuilding and created incoherences and inconsistencies on top of that, but we do see that in the original there were some of them not that developped such as the 12 dragons having only 3 at least that are very plot relevant : Hydra, the Rainbow sage and Moro. You don't learn a lot about 3 more of them, the Ancestor of the tribe we do meet in Fates and the one that shared their blood with the Royals, but there is still some stuff missing and that could have been developped more. And this problem Fates had, 3H had this too, but multiplied by 4 because of 4 routes. And the Hopes recton. And I know Hopes takes place in an alternate timeline but some of the change are way to weird to attribute it just to Shez's survival. Like, the complete shitf of personality from Dimitri's uncle : in Houses he is supposed to be a useless lecher, in Hopes he is a depressed Claudius trying to kill Dima.... what happened exactly ?
What those game tried to do was waaay too big. They have the exact same problem in the story and lore. They also have the same strengh as in a strong cast with good characterization. And if I consider 3H's stories to be weaker then the 3 stories in Fates, I think the 3H''s cast had a stronger characterization compared to the Fates one.
Again, I can salute the ambition, but if we encourage the devs to follow that direction, we are basically begging them for half finished story with improper lore and worldbuilding.
A good worldbuilding isn't a gigantinc epileptic. It's one that is consistent, well used in the plot and despite of his tenght is rich enough. Take Pandora hearts. It's worldbuilding is small. Literaly. We only know the name of 2 city, Sablier and Reveil. We don't even know the name of the country we are in ! All that we can recognize is that the character are dressed in the 19 century victorian era seetings and have English name. But the country has 0 name. You can look, it's called and I quote the material world only to distinguish it from the Abyss !!! Even the characters comming from another country such as Isla Yura or the Duc Barma's family, characterized by their red hair and special clothing, we never learn which country they come from not the name ! And that is perfectly FINE. Because learning the name would eventually change nothing. Not having the name removes nothing from the story because PH focus only on those setting in a way that matters for the plot. Reveil being the capital of their country only matters to localize Gil's appartement and the Pandora's base. Sablier matters because it's at the core of the plot, the only historical aspect that matters is the tragedy of 100 years ago. All the other important place such as the Abyss, the monster, the chains, the system of contractor etc all of this is detailed in a way that is not thousand of data but only the essential to keep the plot moving foward so the story feels focus and only has some elements to flesh out rather then 1000000. And even then, Sensei still managed to improve that with the VNC worldbuilding that is much richer but that still is focused and that focus comes from how she is using a size that fit for the medium she writes for !! And the PH lore is still rcih in references, metatextuality and wink wink to Alice in Wonderland
And the main reason why I think Awakening and Engage had stronger stories then these 2 game was because they knew what they were doing. And by that they knew what they were : video games. Think about it 2 seconds.
Awakening was written as a random regular video game script. Fates became a novel. 3H had an over 10 thousand years woth of lore chronicle going on. Engage was written as a random regular video game stories keeping with a traditional RPG vein.
And out of the 3 Engage is the most consistant. It's not without its flaws, but it objectively does better because it knows the format it has. It knows it is a video game. You can't expect a video game to be has rich and have the same writing as a novel. Each medium as it's own rules : that's why when manga or novel can adapted on screen, the screewriters as to adapt it to the medium he is dealing with. Because it's not the same medium, it has different rules, different challenges etc. If a video game adapts a novel, you can't expect it to be as much in depth because a video game is supposed to be shorter then a novel. Same for a manga. Same for a movie.
Engage and Awakening knew their size. They knew what they were doing and avoided being so big. Because even if the 3H writers had kept in check all of the ten thousand years of lore they wrote, nothing would change the fact that they don't have the time to flesh that out in that game. The data doesn't allow it. The timing doesn't either.
Another example. Recently, Goody two shoes came out. And despite it being a prequel to Pocket Mirror, it has a very good story and a simple one with a few very important characters and enough lack of information for it to be a mystery and not just something that was left as is without proper developpement. And that's because it knew what it was and stick with it : being a prequel to Pocket Mirror.
Engage and Awakening, while not perfect, also stick with what they were : video game stories. Fates and 3H were more then that because they have enough of information to be literal novels. If you compare Engage to the manga, you'll noticed that the manga get to expend more on a lot of things and again it's all because of the medium. If Engage had a serialization as novel, it would be the same, more dense. If Engage had an anime, same. The same story will have different management of its ressources depending on the medium you are writing it for. Fates was written like it was a novel when it was supposed to be a video game. Same thing for 3H.
When the fandom says they want a story or writing on the same level of 3H they don't think about how a lot of 3H's flaws comes from the very core of the project, the size not fitting the medium or try to handwave it as "a game can be ambitious" but the problem is that 3H and Fates biggest flaws WERE their ambitions. The more your project is ambitious, the more it requires you time and effort and date for it. So when it doesn't suit a video game format because of the several restrictions, you know your project will end up feeling incomplete. The writers of 3H themselves said it. 3H is the smaller picture of a bigger one.... so how many Foldan game do we need to have the FULL picture ??? Knowing that Fire Emblem's settings keeps changing, 2 are clearly not enough.
Again, it's the aesthetic of depth that speaks. The fandom loves big stuff. And while 3H's worldbuilding isn't an empty shell, it has way too many elements to flesh them out entirely leaving holes that aren't of the level of mystery or ambuiguity, but of half cooked. However, fandom LOVES HOLES, it adores void so each time they'll spot one they will try to fill it imagine something bigger then it could have been implanted within the canon. Because it's more interesting to them then whatever IS could have actually written. And it shows that the aesthetic plays into this because 3h and Fates have the EXACT SAME LEVEL OF WORLBUILDING and it follows Seisen's too. 12 important figures ? Check ! Weird wonkery of blood givins special power to an elite of favored people? Check ! Lizard like creature revered as deities ? Check ! Magical weapons only some people can wield ? check ! The list goes on. But for some reasons people acts as if Fates had no lore (that's wrong, you can even check what the FE wiki says on that matter) because it doesn't have the same aesthetic as 3H despite all the common points these 2 games have.
And even if they decided to do 3H but less big, I don't think it would work because 3H's story also ended up being relying on its size and it would have worked had it had more lore... but that's the thing ! it already had TOO MUCH lore for a random video game and it was over 400 hour long and no matter how many DLC they would have released they just can't dwell into all of this ! Might as well create a new franchise entirely focused on the world of Foldan !!!
So really, be careful what you wish, because if you keep making believe to the devs that what they did with 3H was the way to go even though it's clearly disadvantaged by the size and the format of the medium, they will never manage to improve what was flawed in 3H. And that's mainly because what was flawed in 3H was that it needed more then it did when it already did something gargantuan which imo is the evidence that the level writing of 3H doesn't work on a video game. At all.
Again, take Goody two shoes. It had little going on but it explore it to its fullest resulting in very simple story with little stuff yet very rich and full of emotion and its simplicty made it work very efficientely. That's good writting. Not throwing in very big stuff and struggling to finish it, but managing to exploit to the fullest even the smallest thing to create a rich experience. Something that manages to be rich even though simple is what's actually impressive. That's the route to follow for a good game story.
So you wanna know what IS should do ? Follow what they did for Engage but simply improve what in Engage was flawed. Because Engage has the right size for a video game format and even if you think they would have expanded on more, the additions are so easy to spot that you can see it's not level of 3H big, but simply some polishing, maybe some chapter added, but not something as astronomically tall as Fates or 3H since those game had the problem of not going more in depth with the lore, requiring more lore to something that was already too big and too long for a video game. And again, I am not saying they can't take anything from 3H cause 3H does a lot of good things notably regarding the characterization, such as the idea of personal paralogue for the characters. That's great. This should come back. But when it comes to the story itself... gneee... nope. No. 3H's ambitions and tenght is way too close to to the core of the project yet it's the main thing that hold it backs and lead it to slip so often.
Imo the perfect FE story would be able to managed to combine simplicity and ambitions since the more simple story could feel like it needed more, but that's the same problem with the much more ambitious project. The writers of IS should try to find a balance between the two to fix that issue, but I don't think 3H has this balance

Takarazuka Flower Troupe Top Star Yuzuka Rei Retirement Press Conference – "Want to meet a new self" – Her answer to the generic marriage question is...
(Source from Sponichi)
Takarazuka Revue Flower Troupe Top [Star] Yuzuka Rei will retire next May and had her retirement press conference in Osaka city on 16th [of August].
In a pure white suit and pants, she said with a smile "Knowing that this time has come has felt once again real to me, that I am nervous." She recalled, "Takarazuka is my youth. To me, this is where I have spent my time fruitfully.
Her intention of graduation came in February. "I am filled with memories of Takarazuka that I thought 'now is the time I retire'. I want to meet myself from the outer world that I haven't known about yet." Also retiring is the Top Musumeyaku Hoshikaze Madoka who also expressed [retirement] a month later when the two talked, which [Hoshikaze] said "Please let me [retire] along with you". She told the troupe members the day after the performance on the 12th, a day before the 13th which is the Senshuuraku day of the Takarazuka Grand Theatre performance "Singing Lovebirds" "GRAND MIRAGE!"
When asked about her memorable performances, "All of them, they exist like duplicates of myself, so it is difficult to choose just one." But when asked about memorable sights, she immediately answered, "The smiles of the audience appear in my mind". "Even wearing a mask, I could see their sparkling eyes, so I love the connections with the audience. Now that I think of it, those are great. Whatever the time, I am grateful for the time we should share with the audience and that they are supporting us warmtly.
Yuzuka is born in Tokyo. She was assigned to Flower Troupe after having her debut stage in 2009, and captured the attention of the audience from her gorgeous stage poise and dancing. Embarking on the stable star-tracked path, she became the Top Star in November 2019. But due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus that her Top debut performance "Haikara-san ga Tooru" was delayed 4 months later and her Top [Star] career was also affected by the coronavirus a lot. "Corona was when the world drastically changed. Those who support me are the audiences' words, the staff members...these people's sentiments", she spoke. As for the general question of “marriage”, she replied, “I would have worn a rubber band on my left ring finger, but I don’t have the courage (LOL). Of course, I’m available”, she replied cheekily with a smile.
Her [last] Sayonara performance [in Takarazuka] will be the musical "Arc en Ciel ~The Rainbow over Paris~" starting on February 9 2024 in the Takarazuka Grand Theatre. The Tokyo Takarazuka Theatre will be May 26. Later Hoshikaze will also have a press conference at the Takarazuka Revue for her retirement announcement.

cough, just saw an ask about this-
so I really looooove steampunk (the novel I’m working on is very steampunk fantasy adjacent) so I’d love to write something in that vein
can't stop thinking about a steampunk tokyo- satoru holed up in some ridiculously grand elaborate office, drawing up massive diagrams and blueprints- maybe a building, or a ship of some kind, or some ridiculous machine he's thought up- and an engineer!nanami, whose ratio technique would translate so well to the calculations and measurements required to do his job... and he would look damn good in an apron/coveralls 😭 suguru being a high-society tutor, looking after some spoiled rich kids who constantly beg to go see some of the city landmarks, only relenting after they get their studies done for the day... ugh, im gonna go smack my head against the wall
oh my god yes!! A steampunk Tokyo would be so cool!!! especially in a jjk universe!!
I could totally see satoru as a rich, mad scientist type — always experimenting and causing problems because of it. but he’s only doing his best to protect Tokyo 🥹
omg yesss engineer nanami who is being pestered by gojo for plans and schematics he needs (and just for kicks sometimes). nanami being all disheveled from working on plans or making models or working on some project is something I didn’t know I needed—
suguru as a teacher for a high society school and also as satoru’s best friend, maybe his cursed spirits could translate to robots in some way imbued with magic of some sort (I want an excuse for rainbow dragon to exist 🥹)

This a different anon but I was inspired your by your recent post. could you do feitan with an gn s/o that makes children's books, like the ones that have lessons example: (Don't assume/guess without any proof) and kinda just for fun .
if you take time out of your day to do this thank you :)
Tumblr media
You and Feitan truly had differing tastes in literature.
Where he indulged in the goriest, adult-rated, and most complex syntax-written novels that even made him squint with apprehension sometimes.
And then there was you, creating books alike Dr. Suess's.
He didn’t understand what was so interesting to you about grade school stories, but he did appreciate your dedication to the craft. He liked how sometimes you’d volunteer at the shelters or shacks that they would call a "school" in Meteor city, and how you would read the books you had spent all night creating to the children dropped off there. And because libraries and supplies were a luxury in the glooming town,  you took it upon yourself to donate your books just so that the students would have something to call their own. He thought that your philanthropy was very admirable, and a part of him wishes that he had someone like you when he was that age, too.
Feitan had read your books many times, though, unbeknownst to you. He liked to sneak into your office, swiping one of the books left on your desk and skimming through it before you could wake up and catch him. He thinks they’re a little cheesy, especially since you always have lessons tangled somewhere between the storyline. Feitan dramatically rolls his eyes as the main character emphasizes the "power of friendship" or how "honesty is the best policy" – it was very, very lame to him.
On more than one occasion, you've asked Feitan to be your illustrator since he was a self-proclaimed artist in his free time. He declined your offer many times, saying he had better things to do than to draw a cookie or a rainbow, but he would always cave. He likes drawing the characters and page background in his own style, but in a more realistic manner rather than the typical childish way. You’re not complaining, though. Truthfully, you think his art is quite cool.
Weirdly enough, Feitan can be caring toward you. He listens to you and supports you as you go through a period of writer's block or procrastination, and he makes sure to carry you back to bed when you’ve fallen asleep mid pen stroke.
He’s always there whenever you reach milestones. When you first got published he was there and caught you with open arms as you jumped at him in excitement. He was there when you read your first story to a crowd, smiling discreetly at the thumbs-up you sent him before flipping the page. And he was there when you had your first book signing, making sure to be first in line.
And since you've started making stories, if he’s ever wandering around in a bookstore, he makes sure to buy your book if his eyes come across one. Not to read it or anything, but he gets it because he’s proud of you.

Ah… just how beautiful the moon is tonight… Gravely injured at a young age, Shiki Tohno was practically banished to a distant relative’s home, where he lived a peaceful life until one day, news arrives of his father Makihisa’s death. Shiki returns home to find his sister Akiha, who has inherited their father’s position, living with two maids. There, he begins a new chapter as the eldest son of the illustrious Tohno family, finding that a life of luxury doesn’t sit right with him. As the days pass, familiar sights of the past awaken fragmented memories. See the masterpiece reframed and retold after twenty long years!

After a chance encounter on the morning train with Ciel, a popular upperclassman at school, Shiki finds himself quickly becoming close to Ciel. His school days are warm and lively thanks to colorful characters such as his best friend Arihiko and the new teacher Noel… However, the idyllic times were not to last. One day, while in a haze, Shiki crosses paths with an enigmatic woman who introduces herself as Arcueid, and becomes involved in a battle against inhuman vampires beyond human comprehension.

Hi! Do you have any comforting book/movie recs? Maybe with a sweet love story or friendship?
ABSOLUTELY I do!!
Books
Love Lettering by Kate Clayborn. This is a really charming romance about Meg, who does custom calligraphy, including wedding invitations, like the invites she did for Reid Sutherland a year ago. But now he's back, having spotted a hidden message she wove into his invitations warning him that his marriage was doomed. He wants to know how she knew, but Meg's got her own problems - but despite herself she feels a connection with Reid that's only growing deeper . . .
Everything Eva Ibbotson has ever written, especially her historical romances. My personal favourite is The Secret Countess, set in 1919, in which Anna, a Russian Countess, after fleeing from the Bolsheviks, takes a job as a maid in a young English Earl's household.
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows - told in letters and the inspiration for the film, it's quite different from the movie in some respects but is just warm, gentle and a really cosy read.
Crosstalk by Connie Willis - this is a romcom with a slight sci-fi vibe; in the not too distance future Briddey Flannigan gets an implant to allow telepathic communication with her boyfriend so they can have a more open relationship, but instead finds herself connected to someone else entirely . . .
Attachments by Rainbow Rowell - this is such a gentle romance, set in the 90s, Lincoln works for a paper in their IT department and has been assigned to check emails that get flagged by their new system. One particular coworker, Beth, keeps getting her emails flagged and as he reads them, he finds himself falling in love with her . . . the only problem is he's never actually met her.
Anne of Green Gables (and sequels) by L. M. Montgomery - a true classic, that is just so joyful to read, and the love story between Anne and Gilbert is one of my very favourites.
The Boy trilogy by Meg Cabot - these are three of Meg Cabot's adult books, all loosely connected but they can be read as standlones, and are just fun, easy reads with nice romances that are really feel good.
Movies
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society - since I've plugged the book let's also plug the movie. It's gentle, it's warm, it's comforting, it's lovely and it's two hours of Michiel Huisman being charming.
The Shop Around the Corner - the original that inspired You've Got Mail, with James Stewart and Margaret Sullavan. It's lower stakes that YGM but still fun, romantic and really feel good.
When In Rome - this film is ridiculous but I love it, a romcom with Kristen Bell and Josh Duhamel where she takes coins out of a fountain in Rome causing four men to fall hopelessly in love with her.
The Longest Ride - this is based on a Nicholas Sparks novel and one of my comfort films. There's two love stories, one in the present day and one historical being told to the heroine by Alan Alda, and they're both really sweet.
Your Name - an anime film, I watched this a few years ago and it instantly became one of my all time favourites. It's so beautifully animated, and the romance in it is top tier.
When Fools Rush In - Matthew Perry and Salma Hayek have a one night stand in Las Vegas, but when she gets pregnant he proposes marriage on a whim and they try to build a life together. A stellar romcom and Matthew Perry said it was his favourite of all his films.
Belle (2013) - absolute peak period drama romance, and a truly underrated gem of a film.
Take the Lead - inspired by a true story, Antonia Banderas stars as a ballroom dancer who teaches a class of inner-city kids to dance. Beautiful, charming, romantic.
The Jane Austen Book Club - a group of women form a book club to read all the Jane Austen books, and find they help with their own problems. Lots of friendship and a bit of romance on the side.
And since it is December some special Christmas comfort movie plugs . . .
While You Were Sleeping - Sandra Bullock saves a man from an oncoming train, but gets mistaken by his family for his financee and then starts falling for his brother. A+++ rom com.
Christmas in Boston - two penpals finally agree to meet after writing for 13 years. The catch? They both sent each other pictures of their best friends and pretended it was them.
