Branch's parents getting eaten is great angst but might I propose
“I remember when you hatched-” John Dory began.
“What day was it?” Branch asked.
“What?”
“What was the date?” Branch didn’t remember the exact date. He’d only been five when his Grandma was eaten, he hadn’t paid much attention to numbers back then. He knew it was the middle of winter.
“Uh, it was winter. The middle of winter. Right after Mom and Dad. That would have been…” John fumbled. Clay did some quick mental math.
"Twenty-four years ago?”
Wow so they didn’t remember the exact date either.
“Wow that’s, that’s longer than I thought’d been.” Bruce said, looking at the Branch with new eyes.
Floyd shook his head and corrected,
“It’s been twenty three. He hatched the week after Mom and Dad left. It was in the new year.”
“Woah, woah woah woah woah woah. Left? As in not eaten?”
Everyone went still and silent.
“Grandma… didn’t ever tell you?” Clay asked.
“Wh- no! They weren’t eaten by a Bergan?”
“No.”
“A bird?”
“No?”
“A Tarantupuff?!”
“No- is that what you’ve thought?”
“Well yeah! I might have been five but I could tell they were a sore subject so I never brought them up!" Branch shouted, chest heaving and expression distressed.
“Branch, hon, breathe. Calm down.” Poppy said, arms raised slightly, as if she were approaching a frightened animal.
“No! No. I just found out that leaving me behind is a family trait, I am allowed to freak out about it!”
Poppy looked stricken and then corrected herself.
“You’re right, you are completely right. Sorry, old habits.”
“Why did they leave?” He asked, looking back at his brothers.
Floyd checked to see if any of his brothers were going to respond.
Of course they weren’t.
As much as Floyd hated it, he had started to understand his parents better as he got older. They thought they were done raising kids. Floyd was practically a teenager when Branch’s egg came along. They could see freedom and Independence just a few years off and then, suddenly, they had to give their all to another kid for another eighteen years.
“They loved you Branch, really they did. It’s just that kids are a lot of work. Trollings are even more work. And Trolls, trolls just wanna have fun.”
Branch staggered back. Rather than assured and comforted like Floyd had intended, he looked stricken. He whispered,
“It was me? They, they left because of me?”

Welcome back, freak.
After Velvet deceived him and took away his talent too (all she managed to do), threw him out onto the grass like a rat, where Floyd lay empty. He was transparent as water and looked at John, who was paralyzed, with the gaze of a dead man.
Branch buried him and Floyd
John woke up from unconsciousness and "resurrected"

Floyd Ex Boyfriend Number 3
Steel - Hard Rock Troll
Oh I hate him so much.
The Pop Troll that Barb was referring to was actually JOHN DORY! @jorjafrozen
Floyd took on the care of Dom's beetle bike 'Pest' after he died. Steel stole him!
Hated when Floyd gave attention to anyone but him.
Floyd was very grey at this point so no-one could physically tell he was Pop Troll.
Should probs update the timeline now hey?

CONFIDENT
John Dory: I can't believe 3 out of my 4 bros have lovers and I don't have one! Why don't girls like me?☹️
Floyd: Maybe you should be more confident in your approaches toward them.🤔
John Dory: Hmm... I'll try that. walks up to a random girl troll Hey, babe. You, me, courthouse, now.😏😎
Floyd: John, that's not what I meant.😐
Branch: No, no, I wanna see how this plays out 🤨

"If your still breathing you're the lucky ones, cause most of us are heaving through corrupted lungs."
Most of this is an angst dump! Enjoy
You wouldn't think such a quiet and timid troll would have a complete personality flip when ingesting alcohol. Normally utilized as stress relief, John takes his memorist to the bar for a relaxing night on the town after a few stressful weeks. This doesn't faire well with his smaller partner, going too far with an extremely light bodyweight. Repressed anger spills like black milky tears through words of violence and threats. Any quip or comment towards them or John would result in an outcry. John Dory learns more then he would've ever thought about his developing relationship with his memorist.
Then John begins to understand why a difficult situation like this would come up for the sensitive troll. They were broken and miserable just like him, and whatever had occurred that night had brought out the worst in them both. But they find comfort within eachother.
Telling Floyd he doesn't know what to do anymore (situation changed dramatically)
And a sketch page! Omg look gay 🫵 on a little morning walk together UGH them ✨️🫶
