You know, I get that not all Starkid fans have chosen to make the leap over to join the Tin Can fam as well. A lot of the newer Hatchetfield fans in particular are just here for that one particular tiny town in Michigan. And that's fine! Like what you like! Fandom how you want! Still, I would like to say two things:

1) Now is the perfect time to give all the awesome stuff TCB has to offer a chance, and

2) Starkid, and therefore our beloved Hatchetfield, owe so much specially and specifically to Joey, Corey, AND Brian.

Obviously Joey is one of the main Faces of Hatchetfield and his performances as Ted, Wilbur, Pete, Ethan, and Dan are all so iconic and beloved. Seriously, can you imagine Ted being as watchable in the hands of someone else? He’s also done great work in so many other Starkid projects.

Meanwhile Corey has been so vital behind the scenes. He designed the iconic sets for TGWDLM and Black Friday (the mind-blowing moment when the set BECOMES Wiggly? That was HIM)! Over the years this man has designed most of the sets, he has directed (VHSCC! ❤️), he has assistant directed, he has overseen social media and massive kickstarters, he has produced. As one of Starkid’s main behind-the-scenes creatives, Corey has done a huge amount of the extremely vital but not particularly fun or flashy work. His job is traditionally a pretty thankless one and we should pour gratitude in his direction.

And Brian. He gave us the Award-winning sound design for TGWDLM, but also I personally think he is one of the main actors responsible for Starkid existing the way it does. This whole company and fandom all go back to AVPM, that lightning-in-a-bottle show that was so strangely magnetic we’ve been able to build everything else on top of it. I’ve seen a lot of Potter parodies over the years, and I genuinely believe that the number one factor that gave AVPM its unparalleled magic was the Voldemort and Quirrell storyline. Without Quirrellmort, I’m not sure AVPM would have taken off as it did, and it’s quite likely Starkid would never have existed. And Brian, as Quirrel, was essential to pulling off and selling that extraordinary bit of plot.

So, yeah, even if you’re only a Starkid fan, or even just a Hatchetfield fan, you’ve benefitted massively from the tireless work Joey, Corey, and Brian have put into those things we love. If you can, giving even 3 or 4 bucks to their Tinlightenment kickstarter would be a lovely way to say “thanks” for bringing us fifteen years of Starkid magic and especially that Tiny Town of Hatchetfield.

TLDR; The Tin Can Bros have all specially and specifically contributed to the existence of Hatchetfield and Starkid as a company, and, if you can, giving to their kickstarter is a great way for Starkid fans, even those who don’t follow TCB, to say thanks!😊

Not Potter Family Opera related but God has this idea been chewing at me like that au.

Okay so the Horcrux in Harry is a little more active in Canon, not overly so just a bit. It brings out his more Slytherin tendencies, but the biggest influence it has is when he actually gets to Hogwarts. He doesn't actually get into Slytherin because of Dumbledore's manipulations but the Hat tried to tell Harry as much as it could while it sorted him that Slytherin was his true place.

This makes him more open to making friends with Slytherins, but not Draco as they still had their mini confrontations like in canon.

The biggest kicker is that the horcrux is attracted to the other horcruxs, more like it feels a deep connection to them. Little Harry doesn't understand this feeling mind you so when he meets Professor Quirrell he feels this connection to him. Little Harry feels comfortable around him, safe, powerful, etc.

.....Little Harry comes to the conclusion that Professor Quirrell is his dad. Not like actually mind you but he basically in his mind thinks this is what family feels like and sees Quirrell as a father figure and keeps going to him for advice and giving him hugs or trying to help him around the classroom and Quirrell and Voldemort are just so freaking confused.

Voldemort sees this as an opportunity to manipulate young Harry but spoiler alert.....Quirrell gets attached. He's never settled down and he doesn't have any siblings with kids but he's always adored kids, it's why he became a teacher and Harry is growing on him.

Snape is so freaking suspicious of this and so freaking worried but he is also an ass who can't warn Harry of his worries in a proper way so he kept bullies him and makes vague comments and thinks that's enough. Of course this makes Harry even more attached to Quirrell.

Merlin and Arthur have the same dynamic as Voldemort and Quirrel in A Very Potter Musical. Like, unhealthily codependent. Care about each other, yet are unable to properly show it, so they bicker back and forth. Claim to hate each other, yet they clearly don't. Finally, they accept this and live happily ever after.

The Defense Against the Dark Arts Curse is a Bad Karma Curse

It's too specific to be otherwise. Consider: Quirrell agreed to host Voldemort. He dies by that very same connection.

Lockhart wiped out people's memories. His memory is wiped by his own hand.

Lupin stood by as Snape was bullied. Now the wizarding word looks by as Snape forces him out of his job.

Mad Eye Moody locked up people in Azkaban. He's locked in a trunk by a death eater (I'm guessing that if you've affected enough people, you get karma-d early).

Barty Crouch served Voldemort. His soul is sucked out by a dementor.

Umbridge made the lives of nonhumans pretty much hell on earth. She is attacked by centaurs, who are not human.

Snape was a servant of Voldemort once. Now everyone thinks he's the traitor.

The Carrows tortured students. Now they get tortured by a student-and humiliated.

Hey so today is the 14th Anniversary of the live performances of A Very Potter Musical and therefore in a lot of ways Starkid itself (!!). I was gonna make an excited post about it because it really is important to Starkid (and it's still one of my very favorite shows, plus Quirrellmort remain the All-Time Greatest). But then I stopped to (maybe over)think. While personally I have no problem separating AVPM from JKR, as it's so different and Starkid has nothing to do with her, not everyone may feel the same. Thoughts?
