{Okay, I'm pretty sure if I put all my thoughts in the tags I'll break something, so this time I'm just going to talk about them here.}
{As of right now, Hanekoma doesn't really know Aedus very well, so a lot of these are ranked low. That being said, he'd have an easier time opening up to Aedus than like, your average living human, and I can see almost all of these increasing at some point over the course of their relationship. The big thing with Hanekoma here is that he doesn't feel sexual attraction at all until he's already experiencing romantic attraction. However, sensual attraction is something he feels very quickly, even if he absolutely respects the personal space of those people he comes into contact with, no matter how close they get.}

{I am actually so excited to build something with Aedus in particular? Like, so many of your muses have really interesting concepts to think about when it comes to how they interact with their worlds and what they are and how Hanekoma works, but I just really like Aedus a lot.}
{They have such potential together! For both platonic and romantic relationships and here's why:}
{• I'm not entirely sure how Aedus's wings work (or if he has any, as a human form phoenix?), but under very specific circumstances, think of the potential of that! It would admittedly take a long time to get Hanekoma to trust Aedus with his own wings because they are a manifestation of his literal soul. However, imagine Hanekoma offering to preen Aedus's wings and it's so weird that this ghost just... Knows how to do this. Really well, actually? And preening is considered like an important bonding activity among angels.
• They both have this strong desire to be needed! Hanekoma actually had a real, desperate problem there for a while about forcing himself into other people's business because he wanted so badly to help them and prove that he was needed in some way. He craves that validation even now, so even though he is much better about waiting until he's invited to help, he still desperately wants that. He'll be super happy to give Aedus that validation, too, even just as friends.
• They are both all about service when it comes their loved ones, and I think both as friends and as potential partners that this could really help both of them. That they would both benefit from caring for and being cared for by each other. And maybe it could also be really funny to watch them try to outdo each other sometimes.
• For Romance, Hanekoma doesn't have to get over the "this is a child" step because Aedus is already ancient. Aedus doesn't have to worry about losing Hanekoma (as much) because he's already dead.
• Also for romance, I noticed with the last post that you shared on the topic that a lot of Aedus's spicier headcanons line up unnaturally well with Decaf's??? They would... Definitely both click with each other really well, that's for sure.}

every so often you see the debate about whether or not samfro works better as a romantic or platonic relationship and all I can say is: look. looklooklook. the point of frodo and sam’s relationship isn’t romance or platonic friendship or whether or not they’re having sex, it’s the love. that’s it. that’s literally the whole thing. that takes priority over anything else.

I typically don’t do asks (I've only ever gotten a few), but a recent one got my gears turning and I wanted to reply.
(This is a secondary blog, so I can’t answer asks in the usual way.)
Your post about the retcon is so fucking good, I wish every critter saw it and actually thought about how shitty it was done, but then their belief in the cast and show would probably start cracking.
Thank you for liking the retcon post. I’ve seen various people in the tags thank me for making that post and have said that it’s helped them ‘feel less insane’. None of us are insane. We are not delusional. We didn’t experience a mass hallucination. These things happened, and they’ve been thoroughly documented. Hundreds of hours of material over the course of three years.
The people who should read that post won’t ever see it because I have all those assholes blocked lol. If they did manage to find it somehow, I know they would just mock it, as they’re wont to do with any of our criticisms. They’re so far up CR’s ass, they’ve convinced themselves that a retcon didn’t happen. Even shoving the literal definition of the word in their faces wouldn’t wake them up.
It's just so fucking weird to see how the group is acting now, and I'm pretty sure we're never gonna get a Laura&Marisha episode picture and a TM episode with those 2 for the rest of the campaign. It feels like when a non-canon wlw ship gets big on a TV show and suddenly the actresses can't be seen or interact with each other anymore🙄 it's the same fucking pattern and like you, I thought I wouldn't have to deal with this on a d&d show.
I specifically want to address the “It feels like when a non-canon wlw ship gets big on a TV show and suddenly the actresses can't be seen or interact with each other anymore” because I’ve thought about that pattern too. (Not so much with Marisha/Laura ‘cause them being on TM together is already a rare combo. If they don’t appear much or at all going forward, I don’t think it’s because of this, though it really wouldn’t surprise me. But, I have been thinking about that specific pattern in regard to their characters.)
I can make a comparison between this situation and what happened with the show A/gent Carter and the way the ship Cart/inelli was handled.
I know that might sound weird, but stay with me here lol...
I want to make it clear that I’m not comparing the relationships at all. Cart/inelli did not have nearly the same amount of build-up and depth as Beaujester, (or quite frankly, their level of possibility.) What I am comparing is the creators over-the-top reactions to these characters being shipped so hard and the extreme measures they went to in order to ‘remedy’ that.
The ship included P/eggy Carter and A/ngie Martinelli. The show was set in New York. Angie was a waitress (who wanted to be an actress/be on Broadway) at the diner that Peggy frequented. They ended up talking quite a bit and became fairly close. That ended up kind of becoming the core relationship in the entire first season, and LOTS of people started shipping it.
At the time, no one was calling us crazy or delusional. At most it was, “This is ABC! They’re not gonna pair her with a woman!” and of course the obligatory “But Peggy’s not gay!”. But no one was calling us names or being generally cruel. And anyone who tried it was ignored because everyone else drowned them out. The ship became extremely popular on Tumblr and Twitter. Both actresses were very positive and supportive. They regularly liked/retweeted romantic Cart/inelli fanart on Twitter. Even one of the female writers on the show got behind it too. It was asked about frequently at conventions and no one booed or rolled their eyes. The questions were never dismissed or made into a joke. (Honestly, this was one of the better overall fandom experiences I’ve had on here.)
And all of us were super excited for S2. Not just because of all the support, but because they had ended S1 with Peggy and Angie moving in together. Peggy had purchased, either it was a really fancy apartment or house (my memory is fuzzy on this), and she literally asked Angie to stay with her. Needless to say, that fueled the flames even more.
But despite the actresses and at least one writer being on board, between S1 and S2, something shifted.
Clearly, the showrunner and/or the execs, took a look at all of this and deemed it a ‘problem’. When S2 finally came around, suddenly everything was different. Instead of both of them living together in New York, instead of it being an organic (I’m beginning to hate that word) continuation from where they left off, Peggy decided to move to Los Angeles to do work for some agency out there or something, and Angie stayed in New York. It’s never explained why. It’s never explained why a woman who so badly wanted to be an actress would NOT want to go to LA, where Hollywood is. LA was never mentioned in S1. There were no hints that Peggy might want to fly out to the West Coast at some point. She seemed perfectly happy in NY, basically setting up house with Angie.
And they didn’t even ease into the change. They just got rid of the character. The actress was bummed about it and Cart/inelli fans tried to put pressure on the showrunner/writers to bring Angie back, which the actress completely supported, but even that fell on deaf ears. So, Angie was simply no longer an entity on that show. Conveniently removed. All the excitement we had was crushed. And of course, the second that Peggy got out to LA, she suddenly had a very obvious male love interest. What a surprise.
The showrunner/writers were not subtle about what they thought about our ship and us. They made the most extreme, nonsensical writing decision in order to permanently separate these two characters. Because, hey, that’s the only way to get the shippers to STOP, right?
This was what I was reminded of when I started seeing the turn that post-hiatus CR was taking. It ended up being a weird combination of kneejerk erasure (BJ) and heavy-handed overcompensation (BY).
But of course, CR is not a TV show, it’s D&D. And they can’t force one of their PCs to just disappear, so what do they have to resort to? Not interacting.
We all know how severely neutered Beau and Jester’s general relationship has become. It’s clear to me that both Marisha and Laura felt they had to do that. They had to suddenly have their characters stay away from each other as much as possible so they could prioritize Fjord and Yasha, and speed-run into romances with them. They started acting as if either of them giving the other one ounce of affectionate attention (like they had been doing so often and so naturally before), would be breaking some sort of hidden ‘relationship code’. Almost like if they ever hugged again, the studio would go down in flames.
The very obvious fact that they went to these lengths, to me, proves two things...
One, it proves the retcon even more, because you can tell that the way they behaved with each other DID in fact change. The frequency of interactions and the way those interactions would play out. Whenever they interact now, it seems like they’re trying to keep it as short, thin, and almost comedic (to the point of goofiness, and not in a good way) as possible. Their engagement seems half-assed and dull. The sounds of their voices, their facial expressions... completely sanitized. Even all the physicality they had is gone; the touches, the hugs, the cuddling. Every single aspect is different and they absolutely did that intentionally. This had to happen because they needed to dupe the viewers into believing that despite overall interest waning, their threadbare connections to Fjord and Yasha are more important, and were always more important then their connection to each other, that we all watched them steadily build. (And watched them pick up steam from about ep70 onwards.)
And two, that whole intentional decision to cut themselves off from each other, proves to me that their interactions pre-hiatus were indeed tinged with ‘something extra’, that was more than just friendship. They both recognized it and that’s why they pulled back so hard. That’s why soft touches and hugs and cuddling are no longer ‘allowed’. That’s why quiet, heartfelt conversations are no longer ‘allowed’. Because if there was absolutely nothing there, if they didn’t see/feel any romantic chemistry simmering underneath, and it was all just platonic BFF stuff, why would they suppress their behavior so drastically?
I think that all of this really does cement what I said in my retcon post: That there are disingenuous patterns being used here that I’ve seen far too often in media. In A/gent Carter, it was a character separation, in CR it was a character dynamic separation. Both done on purpose, to make the shippers shut up, and to push a different plot.
One is scripted, the other is unscripted, but the situations feel disgustingly similar, don’t they?

Because some interest was expressed...
Part 1: AO3 Tag At Large
Backstory in brief
I didn’t intend for this to get so detailed and comprehensive--honestly, it just started because I had a particular question and some free time to go digging for the answer. And I did get my answer, but in the process uncovered a wealth of other ways to expand my study. It’s been a ride (complete with a few anxieties thanks to some researcher part of my brain), but overall a fun one, and hopefully the resulting data-cronch will be intriguing.
As noted, this is the first part of a planned three-part data series. This installment will cover statistics for the contents of the Flommy AO3 tag as a whole, while the second part will zoom in a bit and break it down into smaller categories. The third will be a bonus post where the dataset will be narrowed to examine how it compares to the tag at large, which is how I began and previewed bits of my work before broadening the scope.
Below the cut, you’ll find a breakdown of the data collection and some information on the measures I examined, before we get into some stats. There are a number of charts included, as well as written overviews and additional facts. I’ll admit that it’s... a bit, even after being selective with the charts and data to highlight, but if you have questions (or are curious about any stats not included here), let me know and I’ll see what I can do.
Methodology
The overarching goal of my study was to examine and catalogue the contents specifically within the “Tommy Merlyn/Felicity Smoak” relationship tag on Archive of Our Own. All works featured in these results are tagged as (or otherwise wrangled under) this relationship tag; though it’s doubtful that this is the case, any works featuring this relationship that are not tagged in this way (and thus do not appear) will not be counted.
As of data collection on August 5th, 2020, there are 441 works (inclusive of hidden works viewable and accessible only with an AO3 login) within the Flommy tag. Aside from the individual work name and author, each entry was catalogued with the following additional variables:
Publish Year
Year in which work was initially published
Update Year
Year in which work was most recently updated
Rating
Author-assigned content rating (G, T, M, E, or Not Rated)
Work Length
Categorized as Oneshot (single chapter with an expected chapter count of 1) or Multichap (expected chapter count does not equal 1)
i.e. Works that only have a single published chapter but more are anticipated (so the chapter count reads as 1/?, 1/3, etc.) are categorized as Multichap
Completion Status
Works marked as Complete in the AO3 system are counted as such; all others are counted as Ongoing
Additional Relationships
Works may have Flommy as the only romantically-tagged (/) relationship, or additional ships; works in the latter category also had the other ships logged
Since this study was more quantitative and centered on AO3 tagging, more audience-based measures such as kudos, comment, and hit counts were omitted from the dataset. Also would like to remind that this is something I started because I was bored and curious, and I am just one person handling this data, so please keep this in mind in terms of data validity and human error.
Publish Year and Update Year
Breaking the data down by year was, oddly enough, an afterthought for me, but one I’m glad I did eventually think to add. This provided a glimpse at various trends in Flommy works over the years.
The first two sets of charts will feature both Publish Year and Update Year, as there were a few interesting datapoints I found when comparing the two of them. Moving forward, though, yearly data will be shown in terms of Publish Year, unless noted otherwise.
I pulled together this first graph to see if there were any major differences in either curve as the years went by, and overall, they share a similar shape--to be expected, given that a number of works published in one year may also have been last updated in that same year. Either way, both show a gradual increase in Flommy-tagged works until 2017, before plummeting in 2018 and continuing with a coasting decrease as of August 2020.
However, there’s an interesting shift over time between the two yearly measures: while there are (understandably) more works first published than last updated within the same year from 2013-2015, this becomes about equal between 2016 and 2017, before reversing in 2018-onwards. This goes to show that, while fewer Flommy works are being published these days, there are still some older works that are getting updated even now. People are sticking with Flommy, in some way or another.
Below is another way to compare these two measures, in terms of share of works:
The chart on the left (Publish Year) shows that the majority of Flommy-tagged works were published between 2013 and 2016--about 55%. However, the Update Year chart gives us an exact 50/50 split between the first four years of the tag and the last four, proving that the tag activity is still going strong!
Some other Publish and Update Year Fun Facts:
Because I’m too used to examining change year-over-year (YOY) for other purposes, I pulled some of those stats to accompany the line chart, focusing on Publish Year
The smallest change YOY was from 2016 to 2017, experiencing a 7% increase in published works; the largest was the 176% increase in 2014 over 2013
The decline in published works that began in 2018 has indeed slowed in 2020. 2018 had a -55% decrease YOY from 2017, and 2019 followed suit at -52%; 2020 is only down -21% from 2019, and that number can only improve as the year goes on!
12% more Flommy-tagged works have already been posted in 2020 than were posted in 2013, the first year of the tag. As the two years with the fewest works, that’s at least something!
Rating
There are more than a few ways I could break this one down, but I think this one covers the gist of this particular measure:
As might be expected, T is the most common rating, accounting for almost half of all works. The remaining ratings (aside from Not Rated) are all within a very close range of each other, but those in the E-rated category do have the edge to take second place, which, I’ll admit, also isn’t much of a surprise.

E is the only rating that experiences two consecutive massive increases: 300% in 2014 over 2013, and then another 500% in 2015 over 2014
Actually, 66% of all E-rated Flommy-tagged fics were published between 2014 and 2016
...For a rating into which I rarely-if-ever personally venture, it certainly has a wealth of stats.
Work Length and Completion Status
Combining these two under one header, as they’re pretty tied-together and didn’t yield too many significant results. About 71% of all Flommy-tagged works are Oneshots, which assures that completed works will hold at least the same share within the Completion Status measure before factoring in Multichaps (which brings it up to about 81% complete). I instead put these measures against the others in the hopes of finding some interesting call-outs; after making up a few charts, there was really only one that I felt had a story to tell.
Let’s take a look at the Work Length trend over the years:
While single-chapter works hold the significant majority share, their reign over multichapter works doesn’t fully begin until 2016. In 2013, the Oneshot count was less than half the Multichap count, and the following two years showed a less than 10 work-difference between the majority category and the other. And while the year is not yet complete, 2020 is currently tracking towards following a similar pattern to the early years of the tag.
Additional Relationships
This one is going to serve as our jumping-off point for Part 2, and get us into the motivating factor for my research. Here’s one chart to say it all:
...Yup, that’s less than a quarter of Flommy-tagged works that a) have Flommy as the sole romantically-tagged relationship, or b) have other romantic relationships tagged that are not Oliver/Felicity.
That’s an answer in-and-of-itself, but my research question was two-fold: how else does this break down? How many works tagged for both pairings are compilations, such as oneshot prompt collections where the pairing varies by chapter; how many are OT3s; how many fall into a different category, whether a platonic pairing is improperly tagged or one pairing is the endgame or any other reason that doesn’t fit in any of the other categories?

Remy walked into school with an old pair of fleece space pants he had stolen from Logan and a night mask with the words “Lights Out” painted on sitting on top of his head. He always claimed to participate in school dress-up days out of irony, but anyone who knew him well knew better.
He smiled as Emile stepped out of the car next to him, dressed head to toe in a Stitch onesie with matching blue Converse. His heart melted as he took in the sight of his boyfriend. “Aloha,” he teased, stepping closer and greeting his boyfriend with a gentle kiss.
“No PDA in the parking lot!” Narcissa yelled, interrupting their moment. Emile giggled as Remy kissing him again while flipping her off. “You two are disgusting.”
“Disgustingly cute maybe,” Remy said with a wink. He looked up and down at her Falling in Reverse pajamas. “Has anyone told you punk is dead?”
“Has anyone told you that I don’t give a shit?” she asked with a smile as she pulled her hair back into a ponytail, showing off the multitude of piercings she wore. “Plus, Roman roped me into this whole thing. I’m sure he’s running late in an Olaf onesie somewhere.”
The trio walked through the school gate. “I’m sure he’s already in the chorus room,” Remy said. “God knows he loves to be early.”
Narcissa groaned. “Remember when he made us get up at six for a chorus concert?”
“I have never wanted to kill him more than I had at that moment.”
“I’m the only thing stopping you two from killing each other,” Narcissa bragged with a laugh.
“Only because you’re going to kill one of them first,” Emile laughed. “Now, of course, I’d never tell you to bring harm to Roman, I’d just like to suggest you keep my boyfriend alive.”
Narcissa laughed as she looked Remy up and down as if scanning him. She winked at Emile. “No promises.”
Emile pouted and Remy swooped in with a quick kiss. It was hardly a matter of seconds before they were back to making out. Narcissa took her water bottle out of her bag and poured some of the ice-cold contents on Remy’s head.
“YOU BITCH!” he screamed, jumping back as his white shirt became halfway soaked.
“We’re getting you neutered after school.”
“I should get going,” Emile laughed, mostly dry. “I’ll see you at lunch.” He blew a kiss towards Remy and skipped off towards the science building.
Narcissa took a sip of water with a smirk. “Ah. How refreshing.” Remy punched her in the arm.

Virgil always loved to go all out for pajama day, so it was no surprise to see him in plaid pajamas with slippers and a bathrobe on. It was, however, surprising to see Logan sitting in a Batman onesie.
Virgil wolf-whistled as he sat down. “Didn’t take you for the vigilante type.”
“I’ll have you know, Bruce Wayne is a brilliant deceive.”
“And?”
Logan sighed, mumbling, “And my English teacher gives extra credit to anyone who participates.”
“You’re such a nerd,” Virgil laughed affectionately. “Princey will never let you live this down.”
Logan sighed, hitting his head against the desk. “I’m well aware.”

Patton had grown used to eating lunches alone. He wasn’t particularly upset about it, in fact, he found the time alone to be peaceful. So it was quite a surprise when Emile grabbed his hand and ran with him to a crowded lunch table.
“I’m not letting my best friend eat alone on this momentous holiday,” he proclaimed.
“It’s... it’s not a holiday,” Patton stammered but no argument could stop Emile from sitting Patton down between himself and Roman.
“Are those Christmas Pajamas?” Logan asked, scanning him with knitted eyebrows.
“It’s never too early to celebrate Christmas!” Roman said, fully clad in a Pikachu onesie.
“Halloween was last week,” Virgil and Logan both argued.
“And then Christmas!” Roman yelled.
“Forgetting something there, babe?”
“In this house, we don’t stan Thanksgiving,” Narcissa said, biting into a slice of pizza.
Logan looked at her for a long second before taking a sip of Virgil’s soda. “I will never understand today’s youth.”
“You’re seventeen. And a coke stealing thot.”
“I’m the thot here?” Logan asked, pointing at Emile and Remy. Emile was sitting on Remy’s lap, legs around his waist as they made out.
Roman gagged, covering Patton’s eyes with his hand. “That’s practically foreplay.”
“I’m calling the vet,” Narcissa said, her phone held to her ear. “Getting this horny bitch neutered.”
“Who wants my cousins dick?” Virgil teased. “EMILE PICANI, YOU PERV, PUT YOUR HAND DOWN!”
“You’re corrupting the innocent child,” Roman scolded.
“I’m fifteen.”
“Exactly. You are small like baby.”
“You’re only three years older than me.”
“Three cold and hardening years,” he said pressing a hand to his chest and moving his forearm to his forehead dramatically. “You’ll understand when you’re my age. You’re basically a sixth-grader.”
“I’m a tenth grader.”
“Being an asshole to Sophomores,” Logan laughed. “Another thing you’ll understand when you’re his age.”
“I thought Juniors are the ones who are supposed to be mean to Sophomores.”
“No, no, no,” Virgil said. “Juniors hate freshman.”
“This is exhausting,” Patton groaned.
“You know what’s not exhausting?” Narcissa asked, jumping up onto the bench. “Going to a party at my house.”
Patton, Logan, Roman, and Virgil all exchanged glances. Virgil pulled his bathrobe down over his arms as Patton ghosted his fingers over his eye.
“How many people?” Roman asked.
“Just us,” Narcissa said. “I’ll give rides to anyone who needs it.”
“My mom doesn’t let me ride with student drivers,” Patton said sadly.
Narcissa nudged his foot and winked. “She doesn’t need to know.”
“What’s your plan for dealing with He Who Shall Not Be Named and his dreidel?” Virgil asked.
“If anyone gets a boner I’m kicking them out,” she said. “And I mean anyone. Logan gets a boner? They’re out.”
“Dreidel,” Roman laughed. “I just got that.”
“My house, after school. I’ll get Dad to order some pizzas.”
“Pizza from Papa Draco,” Roman said.
“If you call him that tonight, I will kill you.”
“Logan, write my will.”

Patton didn’t like lying to his mom. Well, it wasn’t exactly a lie he was at a friend’s house after all, but he wasn’t truthful about the reasons why. He hated lying, but he didn’t want this to be the first trial of whether or not his powers work over the phone. He sat in the back of Narcissa’s car with Virgil while Logan sat in the front.
“So, Patton,” Narcissa said, “house rules are simple. Don’t swear too loudly and try not to spill anything on the carpet. Oh- especially nothing purple. Remy spilt grape juice once and he was banned for a month.”
“True story,” Virgil verified. “He wouldn’t stop pouting about it. You would have thought he was banned from seeing you or something.”
“Was this the legendary Draco party I keep hearing about but never get details on?” Logan asked.
“It’s one thing Remy and I have in common,” she teased. “What happens at our parties, stay at our parties.”
“Should I be worried?”
“No,” Narcissa said.
“Yes,” Virgil replied.
Patton felt a knot twist in his stomach and sink into him like an anchor. This was going to be a long night...
All three cars arrived at roughly the same time, allowing the group to follow Narcissa as she unlocked the front door. “Dad! I’m home!” she yelled. “And I even brought all my male whores with me!”
“Don’t get pregnant!” he yelled back from somewhere deep within the house. “Pizza’s on the stove!”
“Aww fuck yeah,” she said, grabbing a box. “Thot, Hoe, you grab the other two.”
Patton stood in mild surprise as Remy and Emile immediately followed suit. Then he remembered lunch and was less shocked. He followed everyone upstairs towards a door painted black.
Narcissa’s room was just about what Patton expected from a friend of Roman’s who wore all black and probably ten earrings at a time. The walls were painted black and dark blue. However what he did not expect was a large blue, pink, and white flag covering most of the wall above her bed. Patton smiled and Narcissa nudged his shoulder, “Got a demisexual one for Roman for Christmas. I can send you the link to the Etsy shop I use if you want some pride shit. You’d look cute with a rainbow lapel pin.”
Patton laughed, settling between her and Virgil as all of them took a seat around a circular purple rug on her wood floors. Emile passed around paper plates and they all started grabbing slices of pizza.
“Let’s play a game,” Remy suggested with a sly smirk. “Spin the bottle?”
“I think we’ve seen enough kissing for one lifetime,” Logan said. Roman stuck his finger down his throat and gagged.
“Good old fashioned game of truth or dare?” Virgil suggested. “Think of it as a housewarming for Patton.”
“Oh boy.”
“Oh boy, indeed,” Logan laughed, a sly grin growing upon his face. “I’ll go first-“
“Nope!” Remy yelled. “Roman! Truth or dare!”
“I was going to ask first!” Logan protested.
“House rules,” Remy said, “he who wears the leather jacket goes first!”
“He who shall go fuck himself,” Logan murmured earning a laugh from Virgil.
“Truth,” Roman said.
“Who was the last person you had a crush on?” Remy asked with an innocent smile but devil eyes hidden behind his sunglasses.
Roman glared daggers at him. “Jon Cozart. Patton, truth or dare?”
“That’s a lie!”
“Prove it,” he said through clenched teeth. “Patton, truth or dare.” Roman never took his eyes off of Remy and Narcissa.
“Uh, truth,” Patton mumbled weakly.
“I dare you to kick Remy’s ass.”
“He said ‘truth’, Roman,” Emile said sternly.
“Fine. What’s your favorite color?”
Patton fidgeted with his sleeves. “Blue. Emile, truth or dare.”
“Dare,” Emile said, leaning into Remy’s side.
Patton swore under his breath as he tried to think of something but his mind was drawing a blank. Virgil tapped his knee, prompting Patton to lean into him. He whispered something causing both of them to laugh. “I dare you to stop making out with Remy for an hour.”
Emile rolled his eyes and grabbed his phone. “Once this timer is over I’m sucking his dick in front of every single one of you.”
Narcissa threw a pizza crust at him. “I’m neutering both of you.”
Roman rolled a water bottle towards him. “Since you wanna be so fucking thirsty.”
Emile gave a hand gesture that Patton was honestly surprised to see from his best friend. (How well did he actually know anyone here?) “Narcissa, truth or dare?”
She bit into a piece of pizza contemplatively. “Dare.”
“Exchange an article of clothing with someone of your choice.”
“Virgil, hand over your hoodie,” she demanded. As Virgil sighed and took off his jacket, she made quick work of taking off her bra from under her shirt. She threw it at Virgil and snatched his hoodie within the same second.
“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me,” he said. “I’m not putting this on.”
“Virgil, truth or dare?” she asked.
“Tru-“
“I dare you to put the bra on.”
“I picked truth.”
“Hmmm, I don’t think you did,” Narcissa said with an innocent smile, pulling up the hood of Virgil’s jacket.
“Sounded like dare to me,” Remy said.
“He said dare,” Roman confirmed with a smirk.
“Princey,” Virgil said as he took off his shirt, “you are fucking dead to me.” Remy took careful note of the eyes raking over every inch of Virgil’s skin as he struggled with the bra.
“Do you need help?” Patton asked.
“No- No, I got- I can do this- I-“ Virgil sighed. “I need help.”
Patton rolled his eyes and did the clasp in one easy move, handing Virgil his shirt to put back on. “Not that hard.”
“Oh-Em-Gee, you know what this means?” Remy asked loudly with a look of false shock. Patton’s eyes went wide and his heart started racing. “Patton’s a fucking wizard.” He relaxed slightly but Narcissa made sure to take his hand where no one could see as she rubbed gentle circles against his skin.
“This wire is a bitch,” Virgil said.
“You’re a bitch,” Narcissa corrected.
And so the game continued into the night. Some small secrets revealed and many ridiculous dares completed. When an alarm went off on Emile’s phone everyone groaned loudly. He gave Remy a gentle peck on the cheek and they continued playing.
“Who wants to stay the night?” Narcissa asked with a yawn. Roman and Virgil both quickly volunteered while everyone else gave regretful glances. Patton sunk in on himself slightly.
“I, uh, need a ride home,” Patton said quietly.
“You live by Emile, right?” He nodded. “Cool, I can drive you.”
“If I may be at your mercy as well-“
“Yes, Logan, I’ll drive you home. If you don’t mind stopping by my place for a few minutes first. I need your input on something.”
“Oh?” Emile asked curiously.
“You’re not getting anything out of me,” Remy stated.
Emile moved closer, putting his hand on Remy’s knee and slowly dragging his fingers towards his hip. “Anything?” Emile asked innocently, pressing his body against Remy’s.
Narcissa pointed at Remy’s dick. “If that gets hard I swear to fuck I’m banning you from my house again.”
“We’ll have more fun at my house anyway,” Remy said with a smirk.
Virgil put his hands over his ears. “LA LA LA I DON’T HEAR ANYTHING NOPE NOTHING IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW.”
“Oh please,” Remy groaned. “You’re not the only one here who has to deal with people in this room wanting to suck your cousin’s dick.”
“Patton,” Narcissa said. “Can you help me bring the boxes downstairs?”
“Uh, yeah, sure,” he uttered, grabbing two empty boxes into his arms. Once they were in the kitchen, Narcissa put the boxes on the stove and gently laid a hand on Patton’s shoulder.
“Are you okay?” she asked. “I saw Remy get under your skin a little- he doesn’t mean anything by it, I’m sure he doesn’t even know.”
“Remy’s... fine,” Patton said. “I’m just a little paranoid.”
“And that’s okay,” she said. “But I want you to know you’re safe here. Obviously, no one is going to ask you to disclose that information, but if you ever did, you’re one of us now and that means we’re going to support you. All of us.”
“How did you, you know, talk to them about it?” Patton asked shyly.
Narcissa smiled, soft and genuine. It was the first time Patton saw her as anything other than another scary upperclassman. “I know I give Remy a lot of shit but, if not for him and Roman, I don’t know if I ever would have come out. But they helped me,” she explained. “Remy’s easy. He makes it all seem so effortless, you know, using the right name and pronouns.”
“And Roman?” he asked nervously.
“Roman helped make me who I am. He’s the reason I stayed in chorus. He’s the reason I came out to my parents and why I get to be myself today.” Her smile grew a bit brighter. “I’d do anything for him.” She leaned in closer to him and whispered, “Plus, it was nice knowing Roman’s charm had no ulterior motivation.”
“Motivation?” Patton asked.
Narcissa grabbed the boxes from the stove and winked at Remy who stood at the base of the stairs. “I think that’s a story for another party,” she teased. “Preferably one with more alcohol.”
“Um, yeah,” Patton mumbled.
“Almost ready?” Remy called out.
“Emile’s a lucky guy,” was all she said. “Goodnight, Patton.”
Patton was faced with the familiar feeling of reading a new book, gears turning as the reader is faced with unfamiliar worlds and characters. Narcissa was something far greater than a new protagonist; she was something mysterious and fantastical, a great dragon hiding far from the edge of the kingdom.
He got into Remy’s car, sitting in the back with Logan. It was a silent drive, Remy preferring to have the radio off to stay focused on the road, with only the sound of the wind coming from the small way Emile’s window was cracked open and the gentle tapping of Logan’s fingers against his book bag. Patton held his bag to his chest, growing desperate to take off his binder. It was calming and peaceful, a state of tranquility men have killed to achieve.
When they pulled in to Emile’s driveway, Remy walked him to the front door. Patton and Logan watched in silence as the two lovers held hands tightly and pressed a gentle kiss to each other’s lips. It wasn’t as passionate and hungry as they usually were in public and Patton almost felt awful for looking, yet the tender moments of domesticity are what draw us in and capture our hearts. Patton couldn’t look away until they were once more two separate individuals.
“I imagine we’ll be seeing a lot more of each other,” Logan said stoically.
“That’s what friends do, isn’t it?”
Logan let out a laugh, but no joy or humor, and twisted his face in such a way that was unreadable in the shadows of the car. “Friends,” Logan repeated. Patton felt a tug at his heart that he couldn’t quite place. Whatever it was he was feeling, he certainly wasn’t a fan. “It’s... nice, I suppose, all four of us being in the same room with no powers or arcane beings to worry about.”
“Oh! Speaking of, Morality-”
Logan pressed a finger to Patton’s lips to silence him. “I was just commenting on how nice this break is. Please do not disrupt that, this is not the time for us to be heroes.”
“Right,” Patton said. “Sorry, Logan.”
Remy and Emile met for one final kiss as Emile unlocked his front door with his free hand. They said their goodbyes and goodnight wishes as Emile disappeared behind the door.
“Do not apologize, Patton,” he instructed.
Remy got back into the car and the rest of the evening was silent, peaceful. The rest of the evening was what men kill for.

1. where was your first date?
well, youve already heard about the first date that we realized was indeed A Date with futakuchi, but my first Proper Date with him would have to be somewhere like an arcade where we can have fun but still talk?? personally movie (theater) dates aren’t good first dates bc you Have to stay silent until the movie is over?? what’s the APPEAL...
there’s a shared exhale of relief as the large stuffed pokemon gets dropped by the crane into the pickup zone. “i can’t believe you pulled that off,” i tell him.
“you know, just for that, i’m keeping it.”
“you don’t even like pokemon! what happened to ‘this one’s for you, baby?’” i ask, voice dropping an octave to imitate him.
“i never said that, first of all. second of all,” he continues, grip tightening on the rowlet, “i won it. so it’s mine.”
“you fucking suck.”
(he says all this, yet when he drops me off, he insists i take the rowlet with me and name it after him. i graciously oblige, dubbing it coochie jr.)
when it comes to kuroo, he probably Says it’s some kind of unplanned affair but it ends with him unloading a picnic basket as we watch the sun set bc he’s a SAP... hate that fool 😔
“you’ve got good taste in music,” i tell him as the next song on his playlist begins. he’s definitely planning something, but i don’t say anything as his driving becomes less aimless.
“oh, i know,” he grins. “good enough for you to ask me for recommendations, i’d say.”
i’m crossing my arms before his sentence gets to finish. “listen,” i start, “you can’t tell me it didn’t work. we’re together now, aren’t we?” he doesn’t choose to grace that with a response.
before we know it, kuroo’s parked the car. “we’re here.”
“here? at the park? what are you gonna do, hold my hand while we watch the sunset?” i tease, getting out of the car. he doesn’t respond. “tetsu?”
“you really think you know me, don’t you?” he appears from the other side, picnic basket in hand and a resigned smile on his face. “what do you suggest we do now that my surprise has been torn to shreds, hm?”
“i mean...can we still eat? i’m kinda hungry.” i point to the basket. (i’m clearly deflecting ,, i was Not expecting kuroo the simp to jump out so early and my heart Cannot Take It)
2. who normally plans the dates?
between me and futakuchi i’m going to say none of us! we don’t really go on Dates dates, it’s just Us Hanging Out !! with kuroo, at first it’s him tbh but after we get comfortable everything becomes a date... idk tbh i’m not the type to sweat that kind of thing 🕺🏻 i do like to Go Out and do things w my s/o no matter who they are but a date doesn’t always have to be going out nor does it have to be a Special going out yk??
3. what kind of dates would you two mostly go on? do you have a “date spot?”
i mentioned this in my answer for 24, but w kuchi we have this ritual of going out to eat every friday and after we get together that doesn’t change!!! if we’re feeling extra lazy we might order takeout but we always always spend our friday nights together... it’s def smth we look forward to even Before we start dating (and it’s smth we both wonder Why we anticipate before we get tgt)
in terms of a date spot? we have our favorite places (like the ramen joint i mentioned in 24) but other than that maybe a few other restaurants and that’s kinda it! our other dates are the occasional study date but i cannot study when he’s around,, just looking at his face pisses me off 😃 nah but we can’t focus on school together + we’d get heated over a meaningless argument and get kicked out NDNSJSJ
when we get domestic w each other (like in uni or beyond) kuroo and i have all our dates at the grocery store... idk abt you but the INTIMACY of buying groceries w someone you love is so [clenches fist] yk?? but before and sometimes after that point rlly it’s like Things To See and Things To Do whenever kuroo puts himself in charge of planning it bc he knows we both like to be engaged and have fun!! (i alr said it but our date spot is the grocery store <3)
4. what kind of date do you think the both of you would enjoy the most? why?
that’s a very good question... i mentioned it alr but kuroo and i vibe heavy w things that are engaging and give us things to talk about while we keep busy,, like maybe an amusement park or smth w all the rides (we’re definitely spinning the shit out of the teacups) mostly bc i think he likes being kept on his toes and i do too! i think we’d challenge each other to do better by setting an example for the other to follow just in general,, also ngl places w a lot of ppl are good too so we can peoplewatch,, the two of us are the type to read people with a glance and when we need downtime we’d sit down somewhere and just kinda . 👁👁 yk
“i might barf,” i announce, gait crooked from the dizzying ride.
“no, you won’t,” kuroo replies, allowing me to drape myself over him though he’s not walking straight either. “didn’t you hear? vomitting is banned in this country and thirteen others.”
“a shame. anyway, let’s go on the pirate ship ride next.”
(we sit at the outer edge. it’s not a good time for the folks in the two seats in front of us. we wipe our vomit—mostly my vomit—from the corners of our mouths and apologize profusely.)
when it comes to kuchi, i think he’d like smth where we would end up competing against each other! i mentioned this when i answered question 50, but kenji and i are almost TOO competitive over stupid shit so smth like laser tag (where everyone is like ... why don’t you want to work together aren’t you DATING) would be SO fucking fun
“it’s not too late to surrender,” he simpers, my body sandwiched between his and the wall. my gun’s been knocked out of my hand—that’s gotta be against the fucking rules—and part of me feels like i’m on a real battlefield, as fleeting the thought is. “some battles, you just can’t win.” he punctuates this statement with a sage nod, leaning so close his breath fans against my face. “so, what’ll it be?”
i close the gap, pressing my lips against his and relishing in the strangled groan that comes from the back of his throat as he reciprocates, free hand moving to the nape of my neck. the hand holding the gun drops. that’s all the opening i need.
i let him deepen the kiss, take his bottom lip between my teeth and gently tug as my hands reach for his gun while his brain is still between his legs.
aim. fire.
i’m the last one standing, and the lights turn on around us. “it’s always good to have goals,” i tell him, granting him a consolation peck to the lips. “but i suggest making them more realistic next time.”
9. what do you think your first impression of them would be?
now THIS is a question i knew the answer to going in bc my best friend (honestly she doesn’t get paid enough ,, or at all ,, for all the shit she has to put up w from me NDNSKSK) had to hear all abt my elaborate fantasies regarding these two but!!
my first impression of kuroo is 1) 😳😳 and more importantly, 2) I Want To Know What He’s About... bc he’s not the kind of person i’d get the full picture of w just one look and maybe a few words spoken? he’d pique my interest a LOT (and this is smth he shares w tsukishima, tho i don’t see myself in a long lasting relationship w him like i do w kuroo and kuchi!) and i’d end up worming my way into his life whether he likes it or not until i find out :-)
unlike kuroo i see kenji and go Wow. What An Asshole. ok no i don’t NDNSJSN i probably think he’s cute first THEN go what an asshole and there’s definitely a long period of time where we’re genuinely getting on each other’s nerves before it goes into the romantic relationship-adjacent dynamic you see in my answer to 24!
10. what do you think their first impression of you would be?
kuroo’s definitely curious. i don’t imagine him being unable to see thru me from the start but i prove myself to be Good Conversation so he’s fine (and ends up being more than fine) with me bothering him as much as i do. kenji probably sees me the way i think most people see me at first? very soft and sweet ,, and then he tries to rile me up, tries to test the waters and pretty quickly finds out that right under the nice girl is someone that won’t hesitate to mirror the shit he tries to dish out.
(again) 24. would you confess first or would they? how would it have gone?
i saw you said in the tags you wanted to see the kuroo one so here it is 🤝 i had all my fun writing kenji’s so this one is shorter than that but!!!

Top 5 Anti-Varchie Arguments & Why They Make No Sense
#5: “Varchie’s so bland/there’s no chemistry between them at all.”
[Note: I would like to apologize in advance to anyone/everyone upon whose timelines I’m inflicting this series of semi-rant-y posts. Someone on Pinterest felt the urge to leave an outraged comment about why they hate Varchie on one of my pictures (clearly, they confused Pinterest with Twitter/Tumblr/Instagram), and it was so unnecessary and full of all the usual incorrect twaddle I see used on SM to discount A&V’s relationship that it annoyed me and made me decide to go ahead and start writing all the refutations I’ve been keeping to myself since S2 released its first trailer and the essay-length grumbles began. Because as much as I try to steer clear of entering this type of fight, I have trouble standing by when obviously-wrong conclusions are being drawn from obviously-misconstrued information and being presented as fact. And since it doesn’t take me long to write analysis-type posts, my usual ‘I don’t have time for this nonsense’ excuse is kind of removed.]
Right, so…chemistry. Two quick things:
Number one, on-screen chemistry is about rapport between actors, and just because a specific romantic pairing does not personally do it for you does not mean that they lack chemistry.
Number two, in acting/performance art, chemistry is a tangible, quantifiable aspect necessary to any and all interactions between performers, so it is essentially false to state that any pairing that has made it to TV is utterly without chemistry. For writers to allow a couple to happen at all, for actors to even be cast in the first place, at least some chemistry must be present; it’s simply a matter of what kind of chemistry each pairing has, how much, and how well that chemistry translates onscreen.
Random example: Prior to Friends, Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe) was cast as Roz in Fraiser, but was subsequently replaced with Peri Gilpin because the latter’s onscreen chemistry was better with Kelsey Grammer (Fraiser). It was not a romantic chemistry issue. It was not a no chemistry, period between the actors issue. It was just that there wasn’t enough of the right kind of chemistry, which made the Kudrow/Grammar dynamic less compelling than desired.
Chemistry is, however, notoriously difficult to explain if you’re not familiar with most generally accepted forms of film-criticism, so I feel it’s useless to try proving anything with examples pulled directly from source material—for instance, anyone relatively adept at dissecting performance can see at once how the entire Riverdale pilot showcases the chemistry between Archie and Veronica so that the closet scene feels like a natural culmination of something that began the second they saw each other. If you can watch that episode from start to finish, pronounce “no chemistry” and actually believe it, providing textual evidence and defining terms is going to be a waste of time.
So instead, I’ll take the common sense route and just point out you may rest assured that with Riverdale, a show based in roughly half a century’s worth of comic history, everyone involved in the casting knew going into it that romantic chemistry between the actors playing Archie and Veronica was an absolute must. KJ Apa and Camila Mendes would not be playing the parts they are if they were unable to create any sort of romantic chemistry between them, and S1 would most certainly not have chosen to set up a Varchie relationship from the get-go—much less have continued to emphasize a budding Varchie relationship throughout—if that romantic chemistry had not translated onscreen. Ditto for S2 and S3.
Also, take my word for it: I’m here. It takes a *lot* of chemistry for me to get involved in a ship (to the point that nearly every ship I have ever shipped has involved actors who were married/dating at the time, or eventually married/began dating), and it really takes a lot of chemistry to get me involved with a teen ship because I didn’t like most teen shows back when I was a teen. Yet Varchie’s chemistry popped enough onscreen to reel me in.
What does all this have to with anything?
Well, in short, claiming Archie and Veronica are “bland” or “without chemistry” is attempting to apply objective terms to a subjective opinion, so if you’re going to do that, it automatically opens your contention up to a couple of counter-arguments:
(1) You are objectively wrong, because by all acting terms/definitions/standards, Archie and Veronica have chemistry.
(2) You are objectively wrong because you are in essence saying that you do not see/understand the verifiable evidence set before you. (In other words, you have metaphorically gazed upon the color red and announced “this is not red.”)
(3) You are subjectively wrong because you are stating your based-in-subjectivity opinion as fact which inherently implies that you believe subjectivity is allowable in an argument. And if you believe subjectivity is allowable in an argument, than you are essentially contending that someone else’s opposing opinion is just as valid as yours, meaning anyone who says “Varchie has the best chemistry” is just as correct as you are, and your entire point becomes moot.
Although you may not like Varchie’s dynamic/prefer another dynamic over theirs, attempting to file your dislike under the headings of blandness or zero chemistry simply labels you as someone who either cannot grasp the concept of chemistry in relation to acting, or someone who is too stubborn to admit to its presence. (And to be frank, neither option paints your intelligence in a favorable light.)
Personally, I’d like to think this argument gets used so often because most people just don’t understand what onscreen chemistry truly is/how it can be platonic or sexual and what denotes platonic or sexual/how it can exist between actors who hate each other and not exist between actors who love each other/how it can be organic or crafted through sheer effort, etc. Or that it keeps recurring because people just don’t interact with enough different types of people to understand that certain actions mean different things depending on who’s doing them.
But while I get that people have different preferences when it comes to romantic dynamics and interpret certain actions differently, based on the always-solid-yet-consistently-underrated performances KJ Apa and Camila Mendes have been delivering since the pilot, I have trouble buying that the oft-repeated cry of “no chemistry” is due solely to a feeble understanding of what that term means. Based on the inconsistent scads of oddball scenes/out-of-context facial expressions I’ve seen cited as “proof,” it seems a lot more like this argument is a camouflaged complaint against storylines people would like to have for their favorite couple, or the fact that one romantic trope was chosen over another (both of which are other posts entirely).
So, yeah. Pro-tip: choosing an argument that puts you in the position of disputing readily-observable facts is never the way to go.
If you hate the Varchie pairing and want to talk about how much you hate it, okay. It’d be a nice gesture if you didn’t do in the Varchie tags or on people’s pictures that were literally only tagged Archie/Veronica which means you had to search those terms to announce your dislike and who on earth deliberately goes looking for things they hate, seriously, go search happy puppies or something instead, I promise it’ll make you feel better. You’re allowed to hate things, and you’re absolutely allowed to irrationally hate things. Just don’t confuse your irrational hatred with reasonable dislike, because the two reactions are not at all interchangeable.
Also? Maybe don’t try so hard to justify irrational hatred with the ‘Varchie has no chemistry’ argument, because any viewer with a working brain can see at once that the visible evidence simply doesn’t back you up. And citing a source (scenes from the show) that disproves your entire thesis doesn’t exactly lend credence to your assertion.

I don’t even know where to start unpacking this idiocy but for the laughs let’s try.
1) Of course the line about the “candle’s flame” in One Thing is about Roman? When did I ever say it wasn’t? And I don’t know why you believe I think Roman and Neo’s relationship was romantic because I don’t... at all. In fact I strongly dislike the idea of shipping them and see them as totally platonic.
Is it because of my headcanon (i.e. something I don’t necessarily believe is whatsoever canon or true, it’s just a fun idea) that Neo is trans because if so I still don’t see how that would mean romance between her and Roman unless you actually don’t even slightly understand what being trans means.
And as for All That Matters not being romantic just like One Thing, well... yes, All That Matters isn’t romantic, it’s just indicative of feelings stronger than friendship. Whereas in One Thing Neo specifically refers to Roman as her friend. Both songs contain very strong emotion about the person they’re directed at but the context is entirely different since One Thing goes out of its way to platonicise the relationship and Roman and Neo never had a three-season long arc building a romance between them the way Blake and Yang did.
2) Ren and Jaune never showed constant annoyance towards Nora and Pyrrha respectively and both actually had serious emotional conversations to advance their relationship before becoming a couple (Jaune and Pyrrha about Pyrrha’s destiny and Ren and Nora about Kuroyuri and the Nuckelavee). Something Sun and Blake have never had, while what they have had is Blake being irritated by him non-stop for a whole season until he backed off to be her friend instead.
And what Blake and Yang have had is... serious emotional conversations about Adam and both of their personal issues (about Yang’s abandonment issues in Burning the Candle and Blake’s self-perceived problem of running away at Mountain Glenn) which they’ve never talked to anyone else about, much like Jaune and Pyrrha and Ren and Nora and utterly unlike Blake and Sun. Try harder, moron. Also it’s very funny how now you use R/enora as an example of a romantic relationship here whereas before you denied it being canon but I wouldn’t expect any less from you at this point.
3) Blake and Yang’s embrace and forehead touch was zoomed in and close up for most of the scene and only zoomed out at the very end after they’d already had their moment. Blake and Sun’s grandmotherly cheek peck was zoomed out the whole time and lasted all of one second.
The insane reaching you're having to do by this point is only making me think you’re absolutely terrified of B/umbleby happening to have to constantly spam people with so obviously objectively false bullshit like this instead of having some confidence in your opinions and just watching the show to find out what happens.
4) It was Strawberry Sunrises, not coffee, that Blake and Yang got together in After the Fall but I’ll let that slide. And I also never said anything to do with that nice little early moment of friendship between them meaning it was canon but then strawmanning is the only way you can even vaguely pretend to have a point that makes sense so whatever. No, two people sharing a drink together doesn’t mean romance, the three-season long arc Blake and Yang shared that tied their personal storylines together irrevocably and linked into the main plot that directly paralleled Yang with Blake’s ex who identified Yang as filling the same role in Blake’s life as he used to (i.e. that of a romantic partner) means romance.
But of course you’d rather pretend that none of that means anything and make yourself look like even more of a colossal idiot because Adam never showed an iota of jealousy towards Sun and instead instantly dismissed him as merely Blake’s classmate. If that had been the other way round you would be jumping on it as evidence of B/lacksun, though, and we all know it.
5) Blake and Sun never became a couple because she was still feeling the effects of Adam’s abuse? Well, Blake and Yang managed to develop the beginnings of a romance perfectly fine during the same time period because Yang actually showed Blake that she understood her, and also never stalked her halfway across the world and reminded her of Adam but sure. Maybe you’re actually right.
But even if that was the case all it would prove is that Sun has no clue how to correctly approach Blake romantically as an abuse victim, and adding to all the times canon showed how little he understands her, so it would still only further prove that B/lacksun wouldn’t work as a romantic relationship instead of the other way around.
I’m not going to give you another proper response after this, because I have better things to do with my life and the only reason I replied to this one was because your “arguments” were somehow even more nonsensical than usual and it was actually fun to point out just how completely garbage they are, but I want you to think long and hard about whether the better thing for you to do would be to continue pointlessly harassing people and making yourself look like a creepy insecure pathetic loser or to just leave people the fuck alone and see what happens in the show if you're so certain that you’re right.
Because you see, I have never ever even considered going to the tags and blogs of people I disagree with, let alone sending them hundreds of cowardly anon asks spewing shit at them. And the reason why is that I’m confident in what I think will happen and even if I’m wrong I’ll be able to handle it just fine with simply some disappointment before I move on.
But clearly you are far less secure in your opinions which is why you feel the need to seek attention this way even though it achieves nothing and only makes you seem like a complete asshole. So honestly even in the ridiculously unlikely event that you’re correct and B/umbleby never becomes canon, I’ll still feel like the winner here. korrasami was aforced ship there was no actual build up for it korrasami shippers like to use the car scene or blush ( when korra blushes at compliments she blushed at bolins compliment ) and there was actual evidence and chemistry for makorra in contrast to korrasami. in b3 and b4 there was actual chemistry and we got to see mako talk about korra the person while asami talked about korra the avatar. or how we actually got the camera zoom in and music swell at mako and korras hugh to highlight importance kXa shippers bring up asami bbeing with korra at b3 ending claiming that we would see it if asami was a man but in reality no we wouldnt. (not to mention while she smiled with her dad , the air babies and bolin suggestion of pen pals she didnt smile at them) heck the break up scene in b2 finale even hinted at them still having feelings and getting back together with the I will always love you line. not to mention that both korra and mako over came the flaws which led to their breakup which wasnt due to a lack of compatabiltiy but due to certain flaws like korra expecting an echo chamber from mako basically mako being so afraid of conflict that he disappoints everyone his tendency to avoid conflict and I am sickened by the demonization of mako claiming that it was just that he ends single for he made a couple mistakes in the relationship department in book 1 and they claim he was a creators pet or gary stu. which is bs makorra was handled well (people like to claim it was only a couple wekks when it was months there was a noticeable change of seasons

PS Sorry for the long comment, I type a lot:) …. In this case, the slash shippers would be using a straw man because we don’t have a problem with the same-sex relationship itself. It was how it was executed in terms of writing quality and context within the story. They’re not asking for same treatment, they’re asking for special treatment and we know that because the creators admitted their intent on doing it because it was a same-sex relationship to please their fans, are clearly glorifying it, shoving it into our faces, and virtue-signaling about how progressive they are. It’s 100% being politicized. They wouldn’t do any of those things if it was just a straight relationship. Heck, Korra ended up with Mako after S1 and you can see the clear difference between that and KA on how that was treated by creators and fans alike. In terms of hints, I stated that the hints themselves were too subtle to prove they were intentional, and one of the ways people can tell if it’s going romance is that there is usually at least be a early single moment in which it clearly goes over the romantic line to tie it all together, like smiling and blushing while looking away or getting embarrassed by being pointed out how close you are to that person, etc. And if they were bi, they would have shown it in general, not just with each other.

Now personally I think Korrasami is one of those mixed blessings. Yeah kids show went there but its as sudden and shallow as existing hetero relationships. I DO think the build up was there but its unsatisfying because, like any anime, its not there much post confession and its more teases.
This is especially, for me, because I REALLY didn’t like the character of Asami or get everyone’s deal with her. She seemed to exist to be Best Girl and… that it. My biggest disappointment was the closing of her arc with the death of her father and then, surprise, another love plot.
Overall though I can’t devote much dislike for the relationship as a whole so much as a connected but not causative (Gabrielle and Janet did have some decent chemistry and there were possibilities) phenomenon of “the men suck so GO Muh Lesbians” which so underlies my experience with the idea I can understand OTHERS attributing the change as “pandering”
However, ultimately, I’m just over it. For some its meaningful even if not all that. And considering into Fangbone AND Sailor Moon when I know there is more challenging or at least advanced if not better fare? I should just accept it.
I am not anti- Korrasami so much as against anti-Mako (and Makorra) and really its a simpler but more nested problem as I think people latched onto Asami as one of the characters who… lets say retained her potential untainted for many fans. But for me she was more of a waste than Mako ended up for me by the time he became a cop and not just Edward Cullen if he was from a K-drama. S2 fixed him so much for me but thats also when the hatchet was put into play and then S3 started and…it hurt how I could see they were handling the ex-boyfriend (and way WAY WAY buttering up this Suddenly Sisterhood of Korra and Asami

Isabelle & Raphael
Is no one going to talk about how great it was to see Isabelle and Raphael work together as detectives (while looking absolutely fashionably flawless might I add )? Now if you’re completely against Rizzy and everything concerning their relationship then I strongly suggest you stop reading now because I’m going to be discussing them in this possibly long and lengthy post. Everything said here might not be accurate but this is just my personal opinions and observations from what I gathered. 1.) Isabelle apologizing to Raphael about her and Simon threatening his sister (even if they weren’t going to actually go through with it) which is still not okay but I’m glad she was admitting it was morally wrong given he trusted her enough to personally introduce her to the most important person in his life. Izzy appeared sincere to me so I think it’s a huge step in a relationship for one to acknowledge their faults while apologizing because it might help relationship to progress further knowing your friend, wife, or significant other will be mature enough to admit they were in the wrong and it might inspire the other to do the same. Not to mention when Raphael voiced he’s against the trackers Izzy agreed that she didn’t like the thought of it either because yes I do believe she cares about him to. Izzy isn’t just like the rest of the shadowhunters when it comes to Downworlders. An example of this would be back in season 1 when she was still in a relationship with Meliorn and she was quick to defend him when Lydia wrongly accused Meliorn of working with Valentine and not to mention how visibly upset she was when she had to break it off with him so it wasn’t just all about sex in their relationship. The truth bombs she was droppping to Lydia in 1x10 when she was being arrested and Izzy being 100% supportive of Malec since the very beginning. 2.) Raphael willingly sharing information with Izzy. There was no hidden agenda or anything even if he was at first reluctant to do so. I think the only thing he needed to prove was his clan wasn’t responsible for those murders but in the end he trusts Izzy enough to give her as much info as he can. 3.) Raphael genuinely cares about Izzy. When sensing danger Raphael’s first instinct was to try and keep Izzy out of harms way like in 2x10 minus the drug addiction where he didn’t bother to inform her about her friends being in danger because even in her weakened state Raphael knew Izzy would try to help them and he didn’t want to risk her being hurt as a result. In 2x13, he was visibly concerned and it was apparent on his face expressions and body language. Raphael blocked her way with his arm and said, “We got company.” and instantly became alert and the second time it happened was when Izzy was nearing the crater and he was like, “Wait!” while grabbing her elbow to halt her steps. It seems like Raphael has no qualms about touching Izzy either and doesn’t express any disgust or discomfort by it almost like it’s a perfectly natural thing for him to do (almost in a subconscious level I guess) meaning he’s probably comfortable with initiating contact or vice versa.You can see his protective side come out proving he actually cares about her well being. 4.) Meliorn sudden appearance automatically put Raphael on the defense. His initial behavior was immediately hostile towards Meliorn from the hardened jaw, clenched fist, and the cold glare he kept shooting at Meliorn. There is a murderer on the loose who was killing shadowhunters and finding Meliorn there at the crime scene raised plenty of red flags in his mind so that’s why Raphael kept protesting and trying to dissuade Izzy from trusting him because in his mind the killer could’ve been Meliorn and he didn’t want her to be harmed in any way. It could’ve also stemmed from a little jealousy since Raphael was aware of the past history shared between Izzy and Meliorn (2x09 Downworlders meeting). It seems Meliorn also noticed this because he was studying both Raphael and Izzy with this knowing look. Then later giving Raphael these smug looks because he picked up on how uneasy Raphael was at the idea of Meliorn being near Izzy or the romantic feelings Raphael is harboring for Izzy. But when Izzy told him she believed Meliorn, Raphael relaxed slightly and was only willing to cooperate because Izzy was asking him to. Raphael then looked like he was sizing up Meliorn then gave him the “hurt Izzy and I’ll hurt you” stare which in response Meliorn gave him a nod of understanding as if they were making some sort of silent mutual agreement. Isabelle even asked Raphael to take Max back to the institute showing that she trusts him enough to keep one of the most important people in her life safe. She could’ve asked Meliorn but she choose Raphael instead. 5.) Raphael voluntarily helping Izzy to save Max from Callie. Lending a hand to save Max wouldn’t have benefitted Raphael in any way except cause some severe injuries if things got serious but even with the possibility of his own life being in danger Raphael still wanted to come to Izzy’s aid. He probably understood Izzy’s need to protect those you love because that’s something he can relate to when it comes down to his sister. You know what’s great about all this? They both weren’t under any drug induced influence so now with both their minds clear actually means what they both feel is real. Even though I wasn’t comfortable on how their relationship started in the beginning - their feelings ended up being genuine at least. Not that I support toxic relationships but we’ve all got to keep in mind these are all fictional characters so I’m not going to allow anyone to stop me from shipping something they deem “unhealthy” or shaming me for even wanting two characters to end up together platonic or not. You’ll ship what you want and I’ll will to without retorting to insulting another person or their ship. There’s no reason why this fandom can’t coexist with each other peacefully. I’m not petty enough to pick fights with someone just because they like something I don’t. I’ve seen plenty of people shipping couples that retort to violence, abuse, drugs, hate, lies and they attempt to romanticize the person suffering from stockholm syndrome. Despite this I don’t go over their blogs or tags spreading hate. If approached about it then I’d answer as best as I can in a civilized manner with evidence supporting what I say. You don’t have to ship it but at least be the mature one about it.There’s no point in fighting real people with real feelings over fictional characters that don’t even exist in reality. Be positive and spread love not hate. Hell, I’d even settle for Rizzy being great friends because their scenes together have so much chemistry and I can see the great potential in them if the writers did it correctly. With this mind I’m looking forward 2x14 where it seems like shadowhunters are building some kind formal party of keeping the peace between all species. Until then I’m going to enjoy watching those beautiful gifs and amazing videos of Rizzy together. Have a nice day!

“Kastle” v. “Karedevil”
When I see shippings that are not viewed as popular, usual criticisms are things like "they have no chemistry".
Thing is, I don't know if it's just me, but it seems like people confuse chemistry with compatibility in many ships.
Two or more actors can have great chemistry with each other BUT that doesn’t automatically mean that their CHARACTERS (the people they are playing in TV shows, books, movies, etc) are compatible.
A great example of this is with Daredevil and I give you a case differential:
Frank Castle / Karen Page:
There's a lot of people who are into shipping Frank Castle and Karen Page, or "Kastle". I'm not surprised that the ship exists. You put any two characters on screen that make some kind of emotional connection, and someone's gonna ship it. But with Kastle, you can find over 670 works on Archive Of Our Own that have that pairing, and Karedevil (Matt/Karen) only has about 282. And even some of the Karedevil works are also Kastle--35 works have both tags.
But here's the thing: while I don't deny that Jon Bernthal and Deborah Ann Woll have good acting chemistry in their scenes together, I do not ship Karen and Frank because I realize they're not compatible. Frank isn’t even emotionally and physiologically stable enough to have a relationship with a woman. Frank told Karen this when he said in the diner scene that now that his wife is gone he’d “never feel that way again”. His head is not in the right place emotionally and neither is his heart. While I do love Frank and Karen’s dynamic they are not soulmates. They’re strictly friends and allies. He has a long way to go before he ever finds someone to love again the way that say, Karen loves Matt (sidenote: Frank even pointed out in the diner scene that Karen's mixed feelings about Matt are because she's in love with him; Frank knew it the moment he saw them together. He practically gave Karen / Matt his blessing, although his “hold on and never let go” advice should be taken with a grain of salt and seen as more of a “food for thought” moment. Frank wouldn’t be saying that if his interest in Karen was anything but platonic)
Now far be it for me to criticize anyone who ships Kastle, people are entitled to do it. And I respect that. The shippers I have issues with are those who are deluding themselves into thinking the Netflix writers are simply going to change direction with the beautiful love story they’re telling between Matt and Karen just to cater to this crack pairing. Or shippers who have an obsessive need to bully people who don’t have the same opinion as them. Or those who are so attached to their ships that they forget the essence of the characters individually. Like when they see Karen Page they only see her as "Kastle" or "Karedevil". When Karen was confirmed to be appearing in The Punisher, I believe there were many Tumblr posts along the lines of "omg kastle might be a thing there yaay", and I'm like, "Dude, just zip it.”
No seriously. the “Kastle” crack shipping has reinforced one of my bigger beefs with shipping culture in fandoms: why can't a female character have an important, substantive, supporting role to a male-led drama (or just be a co-lead in her own right?) without being a romantic sideplot? Why do they assume Karen being in The Punisher = Kastle? Why can't we assume that Karen will be involved as a reporter, and will further the plot in some way by doing reporting things, and doing what Ben Urich would have done if he wasn’t axed off?
Matt Murdock/Karen Page:
Matt and Karen, or Karedevil, is different. Not only do Charlie Cox and Deborah Ann Woll have chemistry, their characters are also compatible. They have the same core values, they are both determined in their drive to do what they believe is the right thing. And even though they both have major secrets (that he's Daredevil; that she killed James Wesley), they both respect and care for each other so much (no toxicity or trying to change the other person like Elektra). There’s no case of them pushing each other or try to change the other. Of course there are obstacles and secrets and things about each other that they don’t fully understand...but they give each other space and they’re like “Okay, I know something’s off with you but I’ll be here for you when you’re ready to talk about it” and I’m so here for that. Plus, of the three love interests Matt has had in the show, Karen is the only one of them to be in love with the lawyer side of Matt and simultaneously have a thing for Daredevil. Karen is more compatible with Matt than she is with Frank.
And it's a canon ship, too. Matt has dated Karen in the comics for a long time and even by the original writers of Daredevil, plus remarks of both Charlie Cox and Deborah Ann Woll, Karen is considered Matt’s great love. The show is going by comic book canon in that sense.
Plus, while I liked their chemistry, I don't really enjoy the relationship between Matt and Elektra. It was a really toxic relationship and she was corrupting Matt and ruining his life. It was almost disheartening to see how much Matt's life crumbled because of the conflict that she dragged him into.
And, Matt and Karen’s romance is not the main driving factor in their plotlines. Which is a good thing, because it proves that this is not the CW. It doesn't matter if Matt is with Karen or Elektra.... what matters is that Matt is Daredevil. (Just mentioning that network made me realize...that there's no doubt "Kastle" would be a thing if Daredevil was on the CW. *cringes*)

Kubo did not separate ichigo and rukia in order to push for ichihime . He separated them because from a story telling point of view their relationship reached its narrative end at the end of the fullbring arc . Ichigo doubted rukia was still his nakama because she did not come to see him while he was powerless but when she came back to gave him his powers he understood the bond he had with her was unbreakable which made him understand the bond he had with his other frien
friends ( who were under tsukishima influence at the time ) was also unbreakable . Showing scenes of them together had no point because the readers knew where they stood , their bond didn't need further developemment . Ichihime did and renruki though and that's why there is more of it in the last arc . Bleach was not a victim of ichiruki chemistry but of the ichiruki fandom who had a frienship who could be interpreted as love for the first 100 chapters and clung to it
for the other 580 chapters of the manga blindly refuting what was irrefutable proof that the manga was going in the ichihime direction

I’ll tell you what I do dislike, though, since we’re on the subject (hate is a pretty strong word): people who reply to a post in underhanded ways. Liiiike, say (and this is completely off the top of my head, totes random example) taking screenshots of a post (not even in its entirety), then uploading them to their blog and going off on a rant the OP will receive no notification for and thus cannot respond to unless they stumble upon it by chance. Which of course allows them to be as unpleasant as they like before their audience of sycophants and call the OP names without fear of them actually weighing in.

I’m confused. If the only way to interpret all of Ichigo’s interactions with Orihime is under a romantic light, then why did IH and RR need further development? Weren’t the endgame pairs perfectly clear?
Also, both those points are in my original post. I do mention the platonic aspect of IchiRuki and I do say that IH and RR needed a lot more development.

Mauvaise foi??? Are we talking about the intent to deceive here, or Sartrean existentialism?????? Because either way, how on earth does it apply? Did I maliciously neglect to show some sort of huge moment in IH development? Because let me tell ya, Ichigo blushing at the sight of Rukia’s ass doesn’t really rank high in a list of top IR moments, either. I’d be surprised if it even makes the top 20. It’s little more than icing, because the rest of the cake is already there.
Ichigo blushing at the sight of Orihime’s outfit isn’t exactly the best pro-IH argument, because this isn’t the first time he’s blushed at the sight of a pretty girl/woman showing some skin:
If blushing is meant to be interpreted as a surefire sign of actual affection and not the result of being a 17-year-old boy in the presence of sexiness, get ready for IchiRukiRanYoruHime, y’all. And they say Harem Anime is unrealistic.
But you know what? The Orihime moment is unique in a very obvious way: Ichigo didn’t even notice Orihime’s outfit until Chad brought it to his attention, which is precisely the point.
You’ll notice I didn’t use the panel of Ichigo looking at Rukia’s ass and juxtapose the two in my original post, because that would’ve been pointless. There is a reason I chose that panel of Yoruichi and it’s two-fold: 1) the post you read was the third response in a series of asks I got about Ichigo being teased about Orihime, and 2) the Yoruichi incident, just like the Chad incident before it, is an example of ‘telling.’
Ichigo’s friends need to constantly draw his attention to Orihime because he’s not doing it on his own. If he was in love with Orihime, he should have been paying attention to her without anyone having to pester him into it. Up until the final arc, Ichigo is completely oblivious to her and her feelings unless they’re the only two people in a room or she’s directly talking to him (the scene where she heals him in SS and tears up comes to mind, or the one directly post the Aizen fight before he collapses).
And it shouldn’t be this way for a guy who’s in love with a girl, even if he doesn’t yet realize it (since you mentioned ‘latent’ feelings). She should be the first person he notices in a group, the person he singles out. That would be showing. The only time this ever happens is after they meet up with Ishida and Ichigo notices Orihime crying. And it’s too little too late by that point for someone who, as you claim, has liked her for a while now. If you want to argue that Ichigo has only just started falling for Orihime around chapter 661, that I can understand and get behind, even though I’m not a fan of the ship.
I never claimed all those moments you talk about in the Lust arc are meaningless. I can’t speak for the bulk of the fandom, but I’ve always believed Ichigo cares deeply about Orihime. That much is undeniable. But the reason I never thought of this affection as romantic is because it’s not followed through in the story until the very end. Ichigo would die for every single one of his friends; his rushing to HM to save Orihime has no romantic connotations (just like the act of his rushing to SS to save Rukia is not romantic when examined in a vacuum). But every time Ichigo and Orihime had a moment in the series, it wasn’t ever shown to change his feelings.
I mean, hell, when he carries Orihime in the HM arc, her ass is literally next to his face and there isn’t a blush in sight.
Have fun trying to picture Ishida in the exact same scenario, guys. I know I did
Orihime, who actually, canonically likes Ichigo, is blushing like no-one’s business, while Ichigo is all: “Bruh, this is the quickest way.” He just casually picks her up like it’s no big deal, when before he rescued Rukia in SS, the friggin’ dork just stood there with the flames of the Sōkyoku blazing behind him, grinning at her like an idiot and trying to look cool. Which is exactly the kind of crap teenage boys pull to impress the girls they like.
Even after that moment in the Lust arc of Ichigo being brought back by Orihime’s voice (which I know is very big with IH shippers) nothing changes in the way Ichigo sees her. When he activates his Fullbring, Rukia is still the person he singles out, even after he literally rose from the dead to save Orihime.
This is what I mean by “Show, don’t tell.” In a properly developed romance, the climax of the Ulquiorra fight should’ve been the start of Ichigo at the very least starting to pay more attention to Orihime.
We get all this panel time of Orihime thinking about Ichigo, talking about her feelings for Ichigo, but nothing on his side. He’s the friggin’ protagonist. He should’ve spent at least some time thinking about Orihime without anyone having to push him into it. It wouldn’t even have to be explicitly romantic like it was with Orihime, all Kubo needed to do to show his changing feelings was to occasionally show Ichigo thinking about her. The only time I can ever recall him specifically doing so was to point out that her powers had grown and that was always after either talking to her or watching her in action.
You said it yourself: IH and RR needed more development. And that’s the problem right there. Ichigo and Rukia could’ve jumped straight into a romance almost immediately post Yhwach fight and even people who don’t like the pairing couldn’t have claimed they needed more development. Even in the RR novel, Ichigo and Orihime don’t get together until 3 years post war.
I can picture Ichigo and Orihime growing closer and Ichigo falling in love with her at some point after 684. What I don’t see and never have is evidence of that romance from his side in the manga. The fact that they got married isn’t in itself proof of Ichigo having been in love with her from the start, it’s proof that he’s in love with her now and has been since whenever it was they started dating.

Oh, that is complete bullcrap and you know it. Setting aside pairings for a moment, can you honestly tell me that when you thought of the final showdown in Bleach you pictured Ichigo, Aizen and Renji with a dash of last-minute Ishida thrown in?
I’ve seen posts from IH fans rejoicing in “Kubo trolling the IR fandom” and talking about how he deliberately kept Ichigo and Rukia apart, or made certain choices just to spite the fandom. You can’t have it both ways, claiming that Kubo merely followed the narrative one day, then saying he did it on purpose the next one. It’s one or the other, can’t be both.
Kubo himself called Rukia the protagonist of the Shinigami side and she wasn’t there for any of the confrontations against Yhwach. Orihime, at least, fought alongside Ichigo in the first one, but Rukia was completely sidelined. ‘From a story telling point of view,’ she deserved to be there instead of Renji, but since Kubo was pressed for time, he had Renji join Ichigo on his own so they could have a talk on the way there and cement RR. Renji literally did nothing in the final battle, unlike Aizen and Ishida. It could’ve been anyone but Ishida in his place and the result would’ve been exactly the same. There was no reason for him to be there on his own other than to talk about his reconciliation with Rukia. Which was a lovely moment, but it could’ve happened at literally any other time. Orihime wouldn’t have been left alone, either, if Rukia had joined them: the Fullbringers were all there to stay with her.
Kubo didn’t have the time to do a full-on nakama fight, so he gave Orihime her moment earlier on; shat all over Chad; shoehorned Ishida in because this was kinda his arc after all, oopsie; used Renji as canon fodder, and devoted a full chapter on Aizen swinging his dick Kyōka Suigetsu around. But no Rukia.
Because you know, just as well as I do, that if she had been there for the end, fighting alongside Ichigo (since a group fight wasn’t feasible), the negative reaction to the ending would’ve been ten times as bad.

When you justified with the term fanart, that you can basically do whatever you want, I agree with you. BUT the recent new stalker *cough* cozy-hovel *cough* commented more than one IR fanarts with very piss-weak comments like "you're delusional" or "not gonna happen". Not worth this person's time but keep a look out, I got the receipts and I've counted.
Very true. I have seen that particular idiot call anything IR-oriented as “delusional” but here’s the kicker–all those IR moments are legit scenes from the manga. How can any IR scene, that Kubo himself drew, be delusional? Despite how people interpret them, an IR moment is STILL an IR moment.
Long-ass post under the cut because I want my IR lovelies to enjoy the tag and not have to be bombarded with my super long semi-meta post.
Anyhoo, a few examples here just to make my point.
Ichigo went to SS to save Rukia himself–no one forced his hand. And regardless if it’s “seen” as romantic or not he still saved her AND thanked her for stopping his rain (i.e. depression). Orihime even admits Rukia changed his world and is his most important person. That’s legit there no matter how you translate it.
How is that delusional? We all read it. Saw it. Heard it from Ichigo himself. Major IR moment.
Ichigo feels down about his inner hollow and all that jazz until Rukia shows up and literally cheers him up. Doesn’t matter if it’s romantic or not. It happened. It’s there. Even Orihime is grateful to her for doing something even she could never do. That’s an IR moment.
How is that delusional? Kubo showcased it in full view. No tricks, no double-meaning. It’s right there.
Ichigo saying goodbye to Rukia at the very place he gained his powers from her when they first met. His and hers facial expressions displaying such sadness and melancholy over their farewell. How their humans friends were also sad for the both of them in seeing this happen to them.
How is that delusional? It’s right there. It’s an IR moment that Kubo took the time to draw with such great emphasis and detail there’s no way people can mistake it as anything but a semi-private sad goodbye moment between them.
And when Rukia returned at Ichigo’s lowest moment in FB Arc? Where Ichigo was in the very pinnacle of despair and desperation and fear and hopelessness? Where every single human bond (minus his dad and Uryu) he had in his life had been utterly ripped apart and distorted and used AGAINST him to show how weak and easy it was to turn on him and betrayal him? How even though Uryu and his father hadn’t betrayed him–he still DOUBTED them at first until he was reassured by them that they were on his side?
Yet the moment he saw Rukia–even with a blade stabbed through his chest FROM BEHIND–he automatically trusted her? Was fucking relieved to see her? Didn’t doubt his Shinigami friends when they appeared to aid him? Or that moment where even Byakuya, having gotten cut by Tsukishima’s blade, still was on Ichigo’s side because of his faith in him–through all of the actions Ichigo’s done for his sister and Soul Society? How Ichigo finally regained his resolve back from her, again, and literally showed Ginjou that his despair had changed into his strength through her? And the very fact Rukia would have died for Ichigo–again–when Tsukishima tried to kill him from behind? The look on his face when he saw it about to happen?
How is any of that delusional? We saw his depression after losing his powers. We saw him try to find a way to get them back. We saw him struggle with his Fullbringer so he could try getting his Shinigami powers back. We saw his human bonds break and his doubts against everyone until Rukia showed up. He didn’t question her. Kubo literally wrote “these bonds will never break” about IR. This is literally a fact from Bleach. There is no bias or twisting the truth.
Romantic, platonic, and so on does not matter here. Kubo made that moment important to the both of them and ONLY them. That is the truth. There is no asspulling or imagining it. This is literally not up for debate. It’s literally a highlight to illustrate that his bond with Rukia will never break despite the ending.
Yet Kubo not only tried to dismantle and discredit 15 years of buildup between IR through the last arc, but in trying to do so made the ending seem extremely OOC and off-putting to the majority who expected actual substance not shallow and hollow imitations of what they once loved and cared for for 15 years. I’m not talking about ships. I’m talking about the 180° character assassination and the horrendous gaping holes in his story. He had 10 more years left for Bleach. What he does instead is a 10 year jumpskip with literally no explanation of any major plotlines except Rukia being captain and some characters are around and about but who the hell knows what they’re even up to because it was wasted on ships of a future generation Bleach never once hinted on or was expected to be about all…along?
If Kubo wanted to pull a Naruto he should have actually read it because Kishimoto definitely talked nonstop about past, present, and future generations so much I’m surprised few people find THAT ending odd yet say Bleach was always supposed to end this way? Really now? I definitely know people that think that way only cared about ships and not the integrity of Bleach.
I don’t care about canon ships or if Ichigo somehow fell in “love” with Orihime 3 years later after the final arc. Same thing with Rukia to Renji. What I care about is facts and evidence supporting it.
Which there literally is none in the manga.
The only evidence that Ichigo felt for Orihime had only ever been friendship. What she felt for him was more than that–that is a no-brainer. Her feelings for him is a fact. His feelings for her? Never saw romantic proof. And I didn’t ship IR or any ship seriously until the FB arc. But even I knew, if Ichigo had to be with someone based off who he was closest to in terms of who actually understood him best–I assumed it would be Rukia. It made logical sense based off all the mutual compatibility and the semblance of how Kubo was always furthering their bonds and demonstrating their importance to each other through not only other characters but through Ichigo’s and Rukia’s actions for one another.
Even when he was trying to separate them in the end you could tell how he had to actively alienate them to even give a small glimmer of hope to make the canon ships somewhat passable. But all he did–since he never properly handled IH/RR correctly with equal mutual reciprocation from Ichigo to Orihime and Rukia to Renji–is make the majority of his audience feel dissatisfied with how strange they were acting. He had plenty of time to make those ships important but he chose not to. It wasn’t until he was getting the plug pulled that he suddenly cared about them. Yet in doing so was too little too late. He was reaching the end of his serialization and instead of closing all the loose ends and trying to end the final battle as best as he could. He chose to focus on a faulty shipping path instead of the story’s own dire need of a proper closure.
Rukia ignoring Ichigo? Renji giving him a speech to lift his spirits that he’s never done before? Tsukishima giving him powers? Rukia and Ichigo barely interacting or even acknowledging each other? So on and so forth?
That is actually also not delusional. We don’t deny it happened. It’s there. We see it. Those are moments meant to dissolve IR importance at the last second. This is Kubo stating if Bleach ends so does IR.
But it really didn’t. He never actually goes through with it.
Ichigo and Rukia still are the same when they are together. Albeit still not IC fully yet it’s undeniable that while 686 spewed some ooc talk about courage–IR still had a moment. They are still the definition of Bleach regardless how you see them as.
That is fact. That is truth. It’s there. Kubo made sure to remind us. Even with all he’s done, Kubo still had to make IR important because it started with them and now ended with them.
Lil Kaz and Lil Ichka didn’t change that even if they “inherited the love and destiny” their respective parent had for each other to them. If anything I don’t hate or blame the children for that. They are merely the byproduct of a man who has been proven to have lost Bleach’s true purpose and integrity years ago and now has nothing left to show for it.
This is not a delusion or made up. This is fact. It happened. It’s there. We all universally read the death of Bleach together. We saw how it failed to capture the essence of what made Bleach–BLEACH. The ending IS a failure. The sales project it, the Japanese fans express their displeasure, the negative reviews and reactions received are not made up or imagined, the daily fact Kubo has yet made a formal interview or even attempted to write a post-script to answer our questions is proof he no longer wants anything to do with his own work.
He was coerced to draw for his own post novels and he even stated he wanted no part in them. All talks of post Bleach is done by third parties and any small snippets of him are done by others literally quoting what he’s told them–not to us his fans. The "bonds" we see in the newest novel? He literally stated they were "never seen in the original manga." Antis say he didn't have "time" because of the cancellation but he had 15 years for IR yet no time for the "intended" ships he apparently wanted? What an asspull and last ditch effort to screw himself over.
That is definitely not delusional. Never in my years of being a part of this world of manga and video games have I ever heard of a creator taking such great lengths not to address or even talk about his work post-conclusion. Kubo is not talking and will most likely not talk about his thoughts on his direction towards the end of his series for a good while.
And to all those that actually enjoyed the ending, despite evidence to prove how much of a complete debauchery it made the characters out to be and the storyline put into utter jeopardy and disrepair, congratulations you’ve played yourselves.
You’ve literally proven not only do you not care about the foundation of what made Bleach what it used to be (the characters, the story, and even the bond between IR–honestly don’t care if you ship them or not) but also the very fact you rejoice in the thought that IR has "sunk" (uh-huh yeah sure) simply because it THREATENED your ships. You only care about how much of a hassle their bond was that you knew the only way Bleach would be great TO YOU is if IR was destroyed in every way, shape, and form. Regardless whether it was Kubo trying to ruin any potential romantic bond or even their platonic one–you are HAPPY at the thought Kubo tried to disprove them in any way you think he could.
Now that’s delusional. It actual never came to fruition or able to stop IR from being IR. Kubo literally could not be bothered to care to try and go through with even that. He tried, yes, but he took it all back at the end with his. “Thank you Ichigo and Rukia…” and his “won’t this make you cry if you’re a fan of Ichigo and Rukia?” These tidbits he insists on saying over and over are facts.
Your positive reactions of Kubo trying to disassemble IR and how you all have in turn tried to dissuade us to stop criticizing Bleach is as transparent as your blatant hate for Rukia and her importance to both Ichigo and Bleach.
The truth is you all would gladly sacrifice the whole essence of Bleach if it meant IR was never meant to be. That is literally how far you antis have gone. You all would gladly see Bleach fall than admit without IR your ships would sail worry-free.
In truth, it’s not even the real IH/RR fans that are delusional it’s the anti-IR fans that are severely misinformed and delusional.
They see any IR moment and have to assume it’s unimportant because it threatens them. They need to assume it’s only platonic and can only be seen that way because it makes it easier to then steal IR material for themselves and call it romantic for their ships. They believe in their minds that IR fans are delusional because we hated the final arc of Bleach over ships and nothing else. They wholeheartedly think we are all inherently wrong because we didn’t read Bleach “right” and we’re the delusional ones.
All of these assumptions and accusations of IR fans are ironic as fuck because there had been nothing but proof and receipts from our side proving how insecure and pathetic their attempts at garnering our attention and their need for us to validate them since August of last year.
They want us to feel threatened by this ending, by Kubo’s attempts to assassinate his own series, and by admitting somehow and in some twilight zone that their way was the true way.
Their delusions are grand I’ll give them that but their transparency and smell of desperation reeks of instability and fragility.
I have never felt threatened by IH/RR or by any ship for that matter. We all know IR is the pinnacle and definition of Bleach.
Love them, hate them, and ship them or not there is no delusion about them. When you think of Bleach they are the sum of it. They are what made Bleach great. And through them, we had many other great things and characters born from those two’s interaction that fateful night 15 years ago. That is fact. It happened. We all read it. No denying the two main characters of the story creating the very basis and foundation Bleach once stood upon proudly. Now? All we remember is the horrible ending of endless loopholes, incomplete retcon plotlines, MIA characters, OOC overturn of remaining characters, and still underdeveloped half-sided ships meant to take seriously with a finale of two small children that somehow was the conclusion needed to finish Bleach in all it’s now faded glory?
The delusions pro-ending fans take to ensure they are proven right with as little to no evidence as possible to dictate this is how we all as a collective whole must see it as is anything but delusional.
Now, if Kubo cared and catered to the ending correctly by talking about it and making interviews and just admitting the truth “yes I wanted everything to happen EXACTLY like this for x and y reasons because this and that.” Then yes we’d all would have seen it. It would have happened if he did it. We couldn’t have denied it even if we tried.
But no, we get nothing but vague “I intended it from chapter 1…” and “I only wanted the kids to meet…” the “it” in question is vague and had been never clarified so anything we assume ranging from ships to just Ichigo losing his powers and staying in the human world can be what he meant. The kids bit is also strange because while he states he wanted the kids to be a part of Bleach (how? Well not sure except from what we got in 686 obviously) but he doesn’t specify WHY he wanted the kids to meet.
As a roundabout way for IR? To illustrate the IR bond through mini IR 2.0? To show the love IR had for each other through their kids? Wanting them to go through the same trials and tribulations IR did for some sadistic twist of fate? To try and do a failed Boruto rehash? To try and save his series? To make the kids the ones to break the tragic love stories by ending up together whereas all the other romances didn’t? He didn’t specify and I honestly doubt he ever will.
Nor do I honestly care about him or his lackluster post ending bullshit.
I care about Bleach in its entirety. I care about each and every character–even the ones in the last arc. I care about the narrative and what used to be the true purpose of Bleach in Ichigo’s incompleted Hero Journey. I care immensely about the dishonor he has done to Rukia and her shinigami world. I care deeply at what he’s done to both IR and even Orihime and Renji. I care ferociously about Uryu’s mistreatment and isolation. I care strongly about Chad’s lack of importance in the end and how much disrespect Kubo has done to the rest of his characters and story.
I will always put Bleach first and IR second. Good thing they are at times one and the same when it comes to their tragic fall from grace.
Give me true mutual 100% irrefutable fact that I’m wrong about both Bleach and IR and maybe MAYBE I’ll reconsider my analysis and interpretation of this major work I’ve literally been a part of since the very beginning 15 years ago when I was a preteen. Tell me, my understanding was always wrong when I didn’t even fully ship IR because I believed with my whole being that IR is just IR any way they wanted to be for Bleach didn’t need ships to make it great so long as IR’s bond pulled through.
Tell IR fans how delusional we are when the jokes on you antis on how shallow you have been proven to care about Bleach where even tons of non-shippers like I used to be can see through your bullshit and has since joined sides with the anti-ending fans as well as IR fans on criticizing the fuck out of this shamble of what used to be a great top 3-tier manga.
So yes, Anon-san that anti fool can crosstag and complain and whine about how the majority of the Bleach fandom is “delusional” and “salty” and etc.
Doesn’t change the fact that the majority of the fandom is pissed and will always be outraged and feel betrayed over the disaster that Bleach has become and no amount of bitching insignificant, incompetent, disrespectful crosstagging little shits will ever find the validation they so desperately crave from the majority that will forever loathe both them and the ending Bleach never deserved.
But thanks for keeping track of their actions, it’s great to know how much they prove their own stupidity while we continue to simply bask in all of Bleach–both good and bad parts.
Sorry for the long length. But it’s just irksome to see assholes like that one pretend to care about Bleach and call us fake fans.
How delusional can they be, amirite? Guess we’ll just have to keep our epic-ness at full blast per usual to spite them since they just can’t help getting their arses roasted every time they try to use their emotional opinions as facts while we just drown them with contextual evidence as truth and just sip our deliciously hot scathing tea in the aftermath.
Because I do love me some tea after a good roast. Don’t you? Good bitter pity and disgruntle pettiness from their end is always great in my cup after washing my hands of their tears.
